"I think. I think i really do think the patch can compete in the afc straight up just before. Yeah it seems to me. Like why shouldn't they be able to you mentioned. Asc's what an interesting division where the one team you look at you okay. There out of it is super interesting in terms of their future. Like zach. wilson is a baller. They got various raft in the draft. You almost if you're the jets are almost happy. You're drafting seconds. So the pressure is not there. Trevor lawrence and you get to take zach wilson which they did. But the vera tucker. I think joe was a huge draft. Pick because he might work as a tackle let alone. You feel very confident. He'll work at guard. And when you have in vera tucker on the left side young starting their careers with zach wilson back there. The jets are the only team. That aren't going to compete. I think in the afc east and might be the most interesting one. They're going to be exciting to watch. And it's it's sort of you know. I grew up in jersey and joe was my idol name and so i guess i could call me a jet fan going all the way back to when i was kid A few years ago but it's It's exciting to see what they've i think. It's been a rotating situation. I think sam darnold by the way in carolina could be the next ryan tannehill member ryan down in miami. Nobody gave many respect at all. Couldn't play was a bus. All of a sudden goes to tennessee. Game away from super bowl now. All of a sudden can that same thing happened in carolina to be able to sort of reignite a sam's career and then you've got carson indianapolis we i mean eleven teams are going to start different quarterbacks newsmax it's amazing letter to league league is going to start a different quarterback than they did a year ago and you know other other than fits being more senior member in washington. Everybody else got a lot of years ahead of them. We'll think about this talking to joe thighs here on the max kellerman show joe size in case you're wondering former super bowl champion when you think about the talent in the nfl you have five. I said that this draft glass could be the best ever like. Let's wait and see a long way to go but after one preseason game it's like oh my god all five of these guys in the first round could wind up being longtime starters at least health permitting but that means five new guys into a league that just got just in herbert. And we'll see about the shawn watson and josh allen and all and patrick mahomes and lamar jackson and cuyler murray to say nothing of guys like daniel jones. Are they gonna work out at. You mentioned sam darnold. They're gonna work out or not the whole league one of the reasons you look at cam. Newton go where does he start is. There's suddenly an enormous amount of quarterback talent in the league. Joe really is a lot of. It's young and a lot of it's fun to watch and again all because i think this really because you're seeing so many play so early in their careers is there's been a transition from the collegiate game to the professional game. There was a time when you had to come into the nfl and learn quote unquote how to play at the nfl how to play the nfl system today. Those systems are integrated. Whatever you did in college we're going to incorporate into game plan out because that suits you and your athletic ability or your decision making process or you come you know you know will know relationship with bill. You come out of a place where you know. The system terminology will be easy an easy transition for you at the quarterback position so with all this young town it's exciting. It was probably five six years ago. We were scratching our heads saying where these guys coming from. And what what's interesting max. 'cause you bring up a point regarding this particular class you know. What makes a great quarterback class you. I came out of school in seventy one. Where you had archie manning. Jim plunkett Pretty good dennis dump truck hickson. Yeah you know we. Dan passed a rainy. We had a pretty good group of guys then the eighty three class i. I'm always curious when somebody says this could be this. Well okay the eighty last joe. What i what. I'm referring to eighty three class top heavy. I don't think you can ever get that tough to match that right. Three hall of famers louis. But but i remember one joe with five guys who went in the first round. And i think all five a damn good shot to play a long time as franchise quarterbacks in my spirit like i've never felt that after preseason game one. I felt that this year you know. That's yeah i'm reacting to i agree. I agree with you and it's funny too is. I've always said this. The quarterback position is the single most dependent position on the team. How many of these guys this is. This is sort of looking at our crystal ball going forward. How many of these guys will remain on the team that drafted them or will they be like a jim plunkett. Maybe two teams removed wind up winning a championship. When you get when you get all those elements around you that allow the team to be able to be successful. How good will your will your defense be to be able to protect your youth. This is why like new england. I think their defense will be really good with the guys at opted out. That are coming back with the draft choices. They made with the additions to the football team. You have to look into england and say they're going to be knocking on the door again. You just gotta believe that not to mention you. Guys will stay on their particular teams. That's always a pleasure talking to you. Great stuff thank you very much for coming back. Look forward to talking to you again. Real soon appreciate it brother. You bet max thank you..

"All which ought that's that's really it boils down to you. You don't want you want somebody who doesn't look like a deer in headlights. Who got some confidence and swagger and you go from there. I do think he had all of those things. So i i mean for for night one. I mean He checked all the boxes. You could possibly want some of the things that are going to help with that swagger and that moxie and making your rookie quarterback looked like he belongs. Number one is getting a legitimate professional target for him to throw to like. They did with corey. Davis and number two is doing the opposite of what the giants have done the last couple of years. And that was beef up your offensive or like what they've done with the offense yes. They've addressed it in. The last. dreyer tucker was a good pickup traffic. Ah the fact then obviously is a monster over left tackle but you have to. What should be that. We've seen what beckton can do We're going to see what vera tucker can do whether whether he turns out to be a good offensive. Lineman were a terrible offensive lineman or anywhere in the middle remains to be seen. We're we're gonna find out but either way. The jets have made strides to beep beef up the offensive line in front of their rookie quarterback which is going to help him stay upright and poise and looked like he belongs and the other thing with the jets. Is that the eh. afc east is now a very strong division. Wasn't always that case in the last ten years now been pretty. One sided over the last two decades news patriots. And that's it soon. The bills are obviously legit. Dolphins are coming up patriots. I mean they have a lot of returning players. Have thirteen was out with co from kobe. Exemptions you can count them yet who knows their quarterback situations a little murky. But i expect them actually bounce back a little bit. They made a lot of free agent. Pick up they're going to get off team Even if they're not twelve and four they they're going to be a tough team to face so that's the other part of it. You have a few legitimate defenses within that division. So wilson's going to have some growing pains..

"And this team when you consider that the Jets had a Mark Sanchez that you were part of that group, but it was a much different roster that he was on compared to this one. Well, I'll tell you what the roster is getting a little better now, right? You think about Vera Tucker. You know, we know what Beckton can do. Um, the the acquisition of Morgan Moses actually kind of gives them three solid. We're not solid because I think very Tucker is expected to be Quentin Nelson. Um, that's the expectations that's put on him. They were aggressive and moved up to get him back. And I believe this year takes a step to being like a top five left tackle, maybe the most dominant Physical, physical left tackle in the game, and Morgan Moses is better than just an average type of guy. I think he's one of more premier right tackles in the game. You put them tired. I would put them top 10, right tackle. Maybe. You know you talk about the secondary. Always talk about the second dairy free agent market. Who knows? Maybe they can get somebody make you everybody on the team fight for that, right tackle me that right guard position. And then now this guy set up. I mean, what I love about what? Joe Douglas don't destroy cities created competition all over whether you talk about P. Ryan, you talk about Michael Carter. You talk about Tevin Coleman. You know they they have real guys. That's going to have competition. They're going to have good football players that are are not on this team next year that they're going to cut because it's just so many. You know, guys at the position. Look at what they've done in the slot. You know you got crowder You got, uh, you know, you got Ken and coal. You got the young rookie, um, that they drafted, Um, get his name right now, but you, you you have them and it's going to be a lot of competition out there, so I think they have the pieces around the supporter. Young quarterback just run the ball, run the ball play action. But that's what they're going to have to do. But I still want him to have to earn. Even Justin Herbert had Tyrod Taylor in front of them. And if it weren't for somebody with a bad GPS system, um, puncturing his lung, Herbert we when they saw Herbert so early, even, uh oh, wow, that that is still one of still unbelievable stories, right? Yeah. All right, let's go across town. Um, bar while we got you here. Daniel Jones. Not quite the rookie that Zach Wilson is going to be, but also probably yet to reach his full potential. Be in the best position to do so, Um, what you got what you expect in there? I don't And in general, that division like should the Giants when that division I mean, it's really a coming the Cowboys. So Hey, chill, watching football teams that division Bart. The question is dangerous Giants how you like them and where you're going to finish in the division. You're gonna bring it up. Listen, I like Junior whopper. You know, Junior Robbins going to have to put the spider tacky 2000 on his fingers. Make sure you hold onto the ball a little bit thinking outside of the pocket. But when you think about junior Whopper man, he has no more excuses. And if he can't get it done here to have a decision may be the same decision that the Jets had to make about Sam Donald last year like Hey, we got all the pieces around. You got Jaquan Barkley, You got Uh, Ingram you got you know up to throw, man. I just want to pull one of my college words of my social street You got? Yeah. Yeah. You know, of why receivers on the outside? No more excuses. I mean, they went out and they got you, Um, Golladay. They went out and he still has Sterling Shepard. I mean, they went out and they said solidified the offensive line. It's time for him to put up or shut up and listen. I believe he's going to put up. Yeah, I believe he was my candidate to be the Josh Allen. Um, this year, the guy that takes that huge leap. Borderline superstardom. Uh, they have a good defense and they go out and they have a great pass rusher fall to them because he had some medical issues. And these Let's see if they can. Let's see if they can figure it out. But now Danny Dance has no more excuses. And Dave Gettleman if he's talking about, you know Szechwan Barkley and a yellow jacket. Well, jaquan Barclays coming back, and he's trying to get some of that McCaffrey money, and he's going to put the Giants organization and tough spot. He comes back and he's elite because you already, you know, pass up great quarterbacks to go out and get him and he has to kind of justify that number three overall pick, you're gonna have to step his game up. And if he steps his game was going to cost you about 15 Per, which was another issue, But that's what you want, you know, say Kwan Barkley coming in his rookie year, I mean, had over. 700 yards receiving over 1000 Russian If he can give you that. I mean, junior Whopper should be in good hands. Alright, So everybody knows Junior Whopper is something that Bart Scott usually called Daniel Jones, based on the fact that he has small hands. Okay. Wow. We'll have the best story some other time. But look to follow up there, though, Barton just a little bit. So then what becomes his mentality Because now everybody is saying it's do or die. What's up? Are you here to stay and make an impact? Or you just a guy that's passing through what becomes his mentality because not only Does. He needs it, You know, hit the right people. But you're also bringing back sequin, which to me becomes a little bit of a dynamic and chemistry things. So how does Daniel Jones need to approach this year? Simply? Well, listen, he hasn't put it up like, hey, you know, I'm going to be a starter in his league. I'm going to be Josh McConnell. I'm going to be a smart guy from Duke that can come here and be a good backup. Be a solid back up. You know he's going to go around and be Tyrod Taylor, Right? Remember, Tyrod Taylor got his chance. And in Buffalo, it was okay. But he's now the guy that everybody goes to to kind of be able to mentor young rookie. Who wants to mentor young working when you're a young guy yourself, you know, So Daniel Jones has to understand this is pivotal for him. Because great you're you're running out of spots. To be able to have a place to be a quarterback in his league because it's going to be one or two guys that come out of the draft this year, and they're going to eat up those spots they're going to be. The Giants are going to be in there. Moving training spots trying to get more draft capital. We know you know the same issues within the division, right? Because Jalen hurts is right there, right? Jalen hurts. They got rid of, uh, went they got a hall for women. And they have a lot of equity to be one of these guys that we don't know what the sign Watson. Aga how that's going to end. We don't know if, um you know, Mr Jeopardy is going to be asking who was the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers? Right, And we don't know what you don't know what's going to happen with Russell Wilson. Listen, Sierra can only be like you don't think at the fish market so long before, she said. You know what? It's time for me to get up out of here if you and I need to go to the prime real estate because they still like Can't win. When you think about what the Rams have done, you think about San Francisco being back. So listen, it's going to be that that quarterback tear itself and Danny Dimes will be someone left without a seat. If he can't solidify his home in New York for both sides, right for Danny for Daniel Jones and for the Giants is critical for that position this year. Bart Scott joins us on the Goodyear hotline. Alright, Bart, you've experienced this. Cowboys are on hard knocks this year. What is what is the hard knocks experience like?.

It's me, Greenie, starting 10 A.m., eastern on ESPN Radio and ESPN plus Hey, Welcome in. What is the final edition of the first draft podcast for this season? And before I say loaded, Mel and Todd, I'm gonna give them like five extra seconds to catch up on some sleep and say Thank you, everybody who spend time listening to us. Over the last handful of months, plus the people that I'll make this podcast possible. Mike Boss Matt offer David Presley helped bring this podcast to life through video, Daniel dot our intrepid producer and all those involved with the audio product. It was a banner year for us, and it was a banner year again for Mel Kiper Jr and Todd McShay. Mel, How are you doing after the draft? Have you slept more than like six or seven hours per night? Since then, a little less like that survival? This is kind of our bear Grylls moment. Throw us out there and We could come back and still stand today after a couple days after the draft, and we're still standing. We're so excited. Hot. Scott is mock draft for next year coming out Thursday. I've already got some guys raided that I got a big board coming out in two weeks for next year's dress up this one of being a rearview mirror will move on to next year pretty soon, But today we'll kind of review everything and come up with some Some ideas about who we think did well, some surprising, puzzling moves and wrap up the dress. I'll tell you what, guys. A lot of good players went on draft and they've already signed with respective teams there. You kind of your 8th and 9th round picks, and some of those guys could be in camp and and helping things this year. The national football it hanging in good. I told type of the story yesterday. So my parents both worked for Delta. Right Growing up. I've been flying on planes since I was like 89 months old. I've never been able to sleep on a plane ever. I so we I'm flying from Cleveland to Boston, and I got a tap on the shoulder. It's a flight attendant, and he says it's time to go. You got to grab your bag and go. Ah $100 seats heated and one that was my safe. One veterinarian 150. People had passed by that I slept through the whole thing and I look around and there were people with You know the cleaning through the trash bags cleaning everything up on the roof. This is embarrassing. Isn't it? Lucky that no one had somewhere else to take you out to take it. Oh, yeah. Good One wound up in Germany. That is amazing. Well, it's certainly well earned, and the content has not stopped. The draft is over. I know Mel astonish draft great artist on his biggest question, Mark, You mentioned that ties doing his 2022 mock draft, which comes out on Thursday mail. You're working on your big Board. The draft really is a 365 days a year event, but we don't want to let this draft that just went behind us passed by without taking at least one more bite of the Apple to review some of the picks that were made some of the strategies involved by teams and maybe those that we felt like fair, stronger than others. So we're going to start in reviewing this draft by starting with teams that we thought How to stand out draft knocked out of the park. So, Mel, I'll give you the first pick. It was a team that knock knock this draft out of the park. A two ways the Miami Dolphins are so it had a great trance. I don't do they get players to help on both sides of all. We got 2023 1st round pick from the 40 Niners, but Jalen Waddle Jalen Phillips should be impact performers of pass rusher and Phillips and a receiver. Return Man. Put returner and Waddle Jamaan, Holland Liam like the bird hunter long that second tight end Barnell Coleman at huge book an underrated attack while you mask They did really well in the Chargers, I thought lined it up. They sat. They waited for Slater to be there. He was a 13 Asante Samuel, junior cornerback from Florida State line. The more underrated players goes that 47. Then they get guys like Chris Rough. A good pass rusher in the fourth round. I like Brendan. Hi. Mrs. Potential in Nebraska know about the Senior Bowl practice. I went back. It's those the tape in the brass, Katie. He held up very well. There was the Cornhuskers Roundtree running back in the sixth around. Nice pick there. So I gave the Chargers and the Dolphins of two highest phrase in the Giants. Kind of amended that Came up the B Plus should have given him a day They moved down twice. They got a first round pick next year from Chicago. They got social or in a second to various Tony and the first added some real good players along the way. So I'd say that the Dolphins Chargers giants in that order for May. I was just saying that comes to mind for you. I was just to say quickly. Gettleman. Dave Gettleman. The GM of the Giants has never traded down before And so he kind of went against the grain and move down twice, and I thought it over. Really successful draft. I'll start with the other New York team. The Jets. I thought Joe Douglas did a tremendous job and listen. He deconstructed the roster and get got all this. This draft capital on 20 picks over to your span so that he can maneuver around. He's not going to spend all 20 text, but it's just figuring out the guys that he wants. Obviously sitting in number two They love Zack Wilson, the quarterback from BYU. He knew that he wanted to go up and get Elijah Vera Tucker, the offensive tackle in college, who's gonna kick inside the guard from jets to put.

"And they're going with Jones and and that's the end of the story, but it's just to me, it's a, it's a matter of when not if it's going to happen at some point. It's just how long can cats hold Mac Jones off. All right, so judging from your comments about Justin Fields, the Patriots were not in love with Justin Fields, they might have liked them know, but they were not in love with him. Why have you been a gather, any information as to why they? Wow, everybody's pretty, everybody's pretty tight-lipped on that. I don't think if Justin Fields was on the board at 15. Now you want to talk about maybe owner pressure and things like that. Now if Justin Fields was on the board, they're fifteen that would have been an interesting discussion cuz I don't think they would have picked him. Maybe they would. Are you saying if both guys were on the board at 15, just one? Okay. Okay. So if phones were already gone and field was sitting there at 15. Yeah, I don't know if they would have took fields and maybe that's when crap pipes up, even though I still don't think that would ever happen whatever Bill wants to do. I I just don't, I don't think they would have taken field service, but that's just me. And, of course, now the conversation will be for the next 10 to 15 years. Justin Fields versus Mac Jones. Yep. Although I do think that's a little unfair wage because again what we've seen in the process is yeah, exactly different systems. Different Personnel. Yep. You know, just because one guy thrives at one place doesn't necessarily mean he would thrive in that they're like, I don't know if n'keal Harry went to another team to start his career, he have different. He would have different success. So that conversation is always a little weird. One last one before we move on to the other pics of this trap cuz I want to get to all off. Guys, you got a little information about Elijah Vera Tucker, we had talked about this on Thursday night after the first round wrapped up. We both wondered you and I if the jet pack up to 14 to draft Vera Tucker because they might have thought the Patriots were in on him at fifteen. Would you hear about that? Yeah, that's why I went and I asked because that it wasn't anything. Anybody report was just hooked. The Jets jumped, the Patriots to take Elijah very Tucker and the The Logical. Next step is they must have had until that the Patriots were going to take him. They might have thought that look I asked you can make you can make of it. What you will? I was told it was quickly dismissed and they were like now he's just a guard for us. They were not going to cause they were not going to take him there especially with Matt Jones dillenburg. All right, let's move on a Christian barmore. Obviously made a big-time move early in the second round. Wage Redwood Cincinnati, they move up. They select the Alabama defensive lineman, your thoughts on the trade up and I was reading some stuff that you wrote some of the risk that comes along with barmore. Yeah, I look in general with draft picks in the draft. I don't really care. I don't have an opinion on their pics. They do, they have much more information than I do and they're good at what they do and I'm the type of guy. Okay. Pick you guys I want to watch him on the practice field. We'll talk in three years and so we'll see I'm far more..

"Me. We she wouldn't but she won't let us forget about her. Three days. 11 picks out of the Star Tribune Meet the players drafted by the Vikings will start off with the first round pick Vikings. It wasn't a surprise to you to see the Vikings make that move. Drop back into the first round a little bit accumulate. Cem Cem later round picks and still, according to Spielman, and the Vikings officials still get their guy this Christian Darussalam offensive tackle out of Virginia Tech. Yeah, I I would say it's surprising to me that they moved back nine Step nine spots and still got him for me. And this is all guys on paper people watching you two videos. I don't watch all 22 film for hours and hours on end, but There's a guy available by the name of Elijah Vera Tucker, and he was an offensive lineman out of USC, and he was available right there at 14. That is who the Jets ultimately took when they did the trade with the Vikings, and I loved that player on when they trade back. For me because I'm 36 year old man, child that works on a sports station. So I get too emotional about it. I was pissed off and I'm looking at Indianapolis there. I think it picked 21. I saw a couple of teams in the mix. Okay. Christian Dara saw After very Tucker for me was the right choice and s O by the indeed uses holding your breath and cross your fingers that nobody says the name Dara saw between put picks 14 and 23. I honestly didn't think he was going to be there. Anthony Castonzo, former first round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, long, illustrious, productive career and Indy He retired. And so now you bring Carson Wentz over there, which they did in the off season. And I'm thinking they want to do something with that Left tackle spot. I'm thinking Marisol is gone. They take quickly pay the pass rusher. Out of Michigan. And we've heard from both general manager Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer that once that Domino fell, they officially were able to have a sigh of relief. So to speak, and know that a 20 A 23, where they moved back that they were going to be able to get their guy, so they got him and then the equity they got. They got the two third round picks and that kind of created that waiting game on Friday to see what they were going to do with that is their song. It's two starter. Yeah, He's so absolutely is going to start on day one. That should be the expectation and anything less I think is, um, I don't want to be, you know at hyperbole, but it's football. It's mildly disastrous. There'sa Bring us of Super Bowl. That's the real question. We go win a Super Bowl. Now it's the ultimate team Questioned, Arris saw an offensive tackle. He's gonna be. He's gonna be fantastic. Yes, a little bit of grit, their eyes replacing Riley, refi and kind of look at it like this in a way, where When you take that tackle, Um you kind of get yourself back to where you were in 2020, where you're replacing Riley Reef, And I think the what's next part of that, with this historically, least over the last decade awful interior. Of offensive line. Ever since Steve Hutchinson essentially left we've had issue producing on the inside with strong, beefy, nasty guards, and so what they were able to do on Friday as you look down the list of their picks. That kind of that That I think has to be married to the dairy sauce election say That's where that's where this all seemed to work. I watch some film on the on Wyatt Davis, who was one of their one of their fourth round picks. Third round picks. Third round pick third round pick 86 Watch some film on him after that announcement, and that I I liked what I saw at a wide Davis. I know it was kind of late pick. I know there's some size issues there. With him that people are kind of concerned about his frame. And then you might be a little bit. Yeah, yeah, anything but but he's still gonna be in that 3 20 range He's I mean, he's bigger than as Rick Cleveland is who we went to work with every week last year. And it will be, uh, either left or right guard. I don't know how that'll shape out. Yeah, the thing for me with white Davis. This is where things got weird. And and why? I like to say that Rick Spielman ultimately found the right answers and found his way to the guys that that he wanted and guys that least the ones I'm familiar with. I really liked You got it was fortunate. I don't. I don't want to use the term lucky per se, but in some ways if they had traded up into the second round and took Wyatt Davis at 56 instead of 86 you read the scouting reports. And this isn't me. This isn't even Rick, who's always going to be pumped up about who he selects. People throughout the leader like Holy BLEEP, This is amazing value at pick 86 that you got for this card and again marrying him with Darius saw and the idea that when you traded back, you're a topic goal was to get back into the second round on Friday. You're unable to do that, but still end up with this quality player at 86. From an offensive line standpoint, I don't think we can ask Rick to do more than he has done over the last 34 years in terms of Trying to turn around and awful position group and it's something that could become a strength. So very positive news with those two guys stepping back a little bit and painting with a broad brush because I don't know how to do anything other than that when we're talking Vikings, um, looking at the issues that the Vikings were faced last year, when you look at the overall group of players that they were able to get Do you think that those issues air being addressed? Are you seeing picks that perhaps are looking at places that maybe you You weren't expecting well, so I think that I think that they checked all the boxes in terms of addressing the positions all ultimately until these guys get on the field. That's where the true grading starts is. Did this workout Dara saw us. He has to be a day one starter. Otherwise, that's a terrible pick. Why Davis has to be a day one starter. Otherwise, it's a terrible pick. So, looking at really two things with this team into the draft offensive line hideous needs to improve defensive line. We have Daniel Hunter you get Dalvin Tomlinson via free agency, Michael Pierce was a 2020 Opt out just is gonna be a difference. Make this bowling ball of a human from the Ravens. He's easy, a major difference maker. So if you look at all the issues, it's very easy to say We didn't have a pass rush, which we didn't Rookie corners were bad at times, which they were but one issue that this defense constantly had a year ago that compounded all that exacerbated. All of it was the past the run defense. And you put two bowling balls in the middle with Tomlinson and Pierce. The last thing you got to do is improve on. I think it's the lowest number of sacks might be the worst defense simmers had in his career. It was 21 or 23. Sacks is a team that's that they had 50 the year before. So just picture just cutting the statistical production in half. The rotation at defensive end right now, whether it's Stephen Weatherly, and then you're gonna have DJ want him who kind of flash a little bit of this at different times last year, so he's in his second year. Then you take Patrick Jones late third round. Hey, had 17 sacks last two years of pit and then and then Jin areas. Robinson, who's kind of like this raw, just he's cut out a stone long arms. I mean, he could reach out and touch it from seven ft. Away. He's Amazing athletic specimen, but he wasn't productive. He's not technically sound, and so they taught themselves. Mr Andre Patterson is a guy that could develop a guy like to Neil Hunter Guy like, ever seen Griffin 1/4 round around a USC now 11 years ago. Now it's just time to do some work with with Patrick Jones and Engineering is Robinson so addressing those positions On addressing the A topic needs for the team on paper. It looks like they did that real quick..

"Good draft. Now we kind of it's hard. To not like a team's draft when they have multiple bites at the Apple. In the first couple of rounds. And the reason why they do. Is because they've been a bad football team. So the Jets of Elijah more Zach Taylor. And Zach Wilson wearing keeps saying Zack Taylor Zack's thinking in the Bangles. Jack Wilson. They get Elijah Tucker out of USC to get some protection First, Wilson and now they get him a weapon. That is called investing. In your young quarterback. I like to picks Elijah, Moral, Miss wide receiver. I like him better. What? The better wide receiver, in my opinion went to the Jets. 20 picks after the Giants pick their guy. So I like what the Jets did there. Zach will send Elijah Vera Tucker and Elijah Moore. The three picks for the Jets are to argue with that. A couple of your thoughts here. We want to try and time things up as best we can so we can React to the Broncos selection together. Oh, let's see, Alex says. I hope they go with, um Jeremiah a wuss Ooh, from Notre Dame, the inside linebacker. Rondell more out of Purdue will be a steal for someone. He adds, is that Broncos you're open that they go Jeremiah loose. Ooh! I think that I'll be good. I think that would be a good pick. Oh, the Broncos have just moved up. The Broncos have just moved up. They traded with the Falcons, George Payton said. Last night, there was a player that they wanted that they were not able to trade up for could there have been A player at a similar position available right now that the Broncos went up just went up to go get Don't want to go to break because it says the pick is in and I'm falling for ESPN is trapped here. Who could the Broncos, possibly beginning? Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah or they going tackle. Right. That has to be it so Heaven. Jenkins or Jeremiah Wuss. Ooh! Carmela See which one it is. Drafting Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah, I think would Peas, the section of Broncos country that wanted Michael Parsons. Is not as good as Michael Parsons. But I think, yes. Similar skill sets. Maybe a little bit better and coverage. The Michael Parsons is So I think if you're Bronco fan and you wanted Michael Parsons last night If they go, Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah? I think they'll make you feel better. There's nothing that the Broncos could do short of landing Aaron Rodgers that makes up for passing on Justin Fields. If you wanted Michael Parsons, which I thought would have been a better selection and number nine last night. Then Patrick's or Tan You can make up for that by grabbing. Jay. OK, Do we call him? J. Okay? I don't know. I'm getting used to saying Jeremiah Woo Suk or mo and watching not be him. It seems like you have him and then you got a bunch of tackles. Who's picking Who's the guy picking for the Broncos? They're getting legend. Can't tell who it is quite yet. As picking for the Denver Broncos here. As they tried out legends of Oh, Billy Thompson. There he is. Billy Thompson. Making the pick for the Denver Broncos, and it is Come on now, Billy, give us the pick. The Denver Broncos move up with the Atlanta Falcons to select Broncos fans. Air happy Joe Vontae Williams. The running back out of North Carolina, Philip Lindsay's replacement. So now as we put the pieces of the puzzle together George Payton says last night. That there was a player they wanted to trade up for, but he didn't go far enough. He didn't fall far enough for them to get him. Could that possibly be Nausea, Harris Or Travis at Tien. Travis said Tien makes a little bit more sense. Complimenting Melvin Gordon, the nausea Harris does. So if the Denver Broncos decided That they wanted Travis at Tien and we're willing to trade back into the first round, but he was taken in the twenties. So And here's Here's what George Payton said. Last night. About whether they entertain the idea of potentially moving back into the first round. Yeah, that's a good question that there was a player that we really way were trying to get that was falling. He just didn't fall far enough. So we were in discussions with teams. We needed him to fall. You know, in the mid twenties for it to make sense. And before we can I came out here. We just sat with the scouts, and we really like our board for our second pick. I think there's eight we're picking a thin around. I believe in their eight players were really like, so we were gonna get a good player tomorrow. And they do get a good player. In Japan today. Williams. There's been a lot of heat on these North Carolina running backs. How? Maybe if you get one of them. Later. It's better than drafting nausea Harris or Travis AT T End in the first round. Again. You have Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah? Who fits in need, just like Michael Parsons did last night. And setting aside the quarterback stuff because I've said what I needed to say on that. For now, anyway. Vontae Williams seems like A promising player..

"But Wilson told the NFL network he's hoping to snap that streak. You know what? I'm given everything I have. You know, I worked as hard as I could for this moment, and there's not another team I want to play for besides Jet, so I'm gonna give it everything I have. And we're gonna be a special team, baby. We're going for the Super Bowl. The Jets. Also traded up to the number 14 pick from the Minnesota Vikings to select USC offensive lineman Elijah Vera Tucker. The Giants took Florida wide receiver Could Darius Tony with the 20th overall pick? And the draft continues with a 2nd and 3rd rounds tonight. And Brian, as you know, April is poetry Month. We have been collecting poems from listeners on the theme of emergence all month, and we have had so many great ones. I wish we had the time to get them all on the air, But I thought right now as we're closing out the month You and I could read a few Are you up for that? I have come prepared. We plan this will let people in on that little behind the scenes tidbit. I am so psyched, David. Okay, Well, the first one I'm reading this is ah, haiku. Called spring gardening amnesia. This was sent in by listener, Kiki Short. Of Port Chester. Fresh shoots poking up. What the heck did I plant there? Must wait to find out. And that's it, And that's it because the haiku goes by so fast, well, the one that I picked is just a little bit longer, but it's also about something that we might say. Looming is the wrong word because this is not in the area of flora, but it's called in Queary of cicadas and for people who don't know cicadas. Are these insects that only come out every 17 years? In the spring, and this is the year and I haven't heard any yet, but we are likely to hear a relatively big noise that cicadas make in the coming weeks in our area. So MJ crop of port of Port Jefferson Jefferson on Long Island wrote in Queary. Of cicadas, and it goes to sleep. Perhaps at ease. You are there. Just below waiting in place for years. Not that we ever know. And in sudden bloom, as if from dormant seeds. Your company attends us to what end for your needs. Not floral are your forms of sprouting life in night presenting in clamor, a turning crop of flight cicadas. Why, just now? The point of your choosing, is it perhaps some teas? For your amusing Huh? You're not wonderful. And you know in the topic that the station chose for listener contributions and national poetry month emergence so many people. Shows emergence from the pandemic right in one way or another. And so I loved that MJ crop protection chose three emergency service cicadas after 17. It's perfect when you only get to emerge once every 17 years. You deserve a poem and let's at least let's be honest. Okay, I have to read this. This last one here. This is called Go Play by Melissa Yellow. Don't give me your poems of nature and morning and birds don't sing the words of windswept loves like prairies on fire. I know only the language of school lunch boxes and diapers changed and fears heard. The only poetry I know of birds is one Ms Frizzle told me about how they are dinosaurs. Ancient. Yes, but also A sign of a shore spring. Which means that these kids can finally play outside after dinner flowers. Be damned. Self explanatory, and we can all relate. Great. I just want to say a big thank you to every single one of you who sent in a poem. I know we didn't get a lot of them on the air, but we we read each and every one. It was so much fun to have these this month. And you can see a sampling of them at gothamist dot com. Backslash poetry 62 degrees now mostly sunny skies today a high of 66. This is W N. Y. C. Right and later on W N. Y C. "Vera, Tucker, the offensive lineman from USC? Who I think the Patriots liked them to me, that read that the Jets thought that the Patriots were going to take him at fifteen. Now, I don't know if that's true or not, but I do think he was in the realm of possibility, somebody that they somebody that they would have taken at fifteen. I just find it interesting that the Jets paid what they did to LeapFrog, basically, just the Patriots. Yeah. And Thursday, and, and make that pick. I just, I just thought that was interesting and worth noting. I agree in that, that was my second thought was, you know, waiting to see if Washington was the move, 2:14 a.m. then when the Jets jumped up, that's precisely what I thought Greg? I said, oh, they're leapfrogging the Patriots because the Patriots, you know, need a tackle, we've talked about that, Isaiah Wynn Trent Brown, you know, If those guys are healthy and they're motivated, they're fine at tackle, but we've had those conversations and I said, maybe the Jets know and so I started a wonder I started to wonder if Mac Jones was going to be easy pick, but then he asks, PN jump to the video of Mac on the phone and then they had their Graphics grew up and I said, okay he's going to go to the Patriots. So let's, let's look at Mac now. Strengths weaknesses, you said, you had your third quarterback on the board. What is what is so good about Mac Jones, that would make Belichick stick and pick at fifteen. I think number one, Nick. It's sort of what we talked about his mind and in terms of his processing his ability to decipher defense has supposedly has a photographic memory which is like the former quarterback around here. I think the thing that stood out to me when I watched the film and and looked to be honest, I went into Iraq and I remember thinking this and I might have even tweeted it and I'm sure somebody's trying to dig into my tweets to be like blue Bedard..

"The Dallas Cowboys have traded the 10th pick to the Philadelphia Eagles with the 10th pick. Philadelphia Eagles slinging Devante Smith breaking news here. Giants were gonna trade the pick to the Chicago Bears with the 11th pick. My Chicago mayor Select Just Infield. Actually just got a text from Minnesota. Their trade the pick, so this is it. This will be the third trade of the first round. The Minnesota Vikings have traded. In the 14th pick to the New York Jets with the 14th pick. The New York Jets select Elijah Vera Tucker back to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. Once again, Jay Glazer, Kevin Burkhardt, LeVar airing Ted and Bucky Brooks. That's right. First round of the NFL draft so glad you're with us tonight, hanging with the fellas and hanging with you as we have hit, Let's see 11 Eastern now. Officially in this first round. The Titans are on the clock. Pick number 22. We've had some action in this first. Well, we've had some trades of fuel. And as a matter of fact, involving the NFC East, you heard a couple those on the cliffs coming back. And now the Titans. About to make their selections. We get to the bottom of this first round here and, you know, most of the big time stars are off the grid. And now Roger Goodell steps up. To make this Titan speak. Really? You talk about intrigue left. There's still one day and that we thought was gonna get chosen earlier, and it won't go here to Tennessee. Um But there is all still sitting there That is Obama team. I'm like man. There's still that one guy left. I'm either in Minnesota's nude. I'm trying to trade up with Minnesota. But I know Minnesota need the offensive line into shit. That's the one guy we even kind of larger more but a lot more. You could see that here, but, man, um No. Darius was the one guy of all the guys we had were a little surprised that still because you said you'd been looking for my list going who we missing here. Can't Farley rank very high? Let me tell you why I hate Kayla Farley out on on my mind. Listen, he's just now gone, Tonto. Three injuries. I'm just saying, though. I mean, the guy is in the draft, and he's going Ready to go first round. I mean, you still got to give him a little bit of little bit of love him. He's on his back, and they sell in the past. But, yeah, I said that to you earlier here. You gave me that. Same answer right? Soon as we came with you, Caleb Farley's There's my number. 12 guy on my my top. My big board My number three. My number three cornerback. But you know what it takes. It takes a It takes a team like a Tennessee titans. Would a guy like Mike Vrabel to see somebody trashes their treasure? I mean, Wow. Why not? Wait. Take the voiceover guy. A lot of money coming in here unannounced. The pic? Yeah, with the 22nd pick. Tennessee Titans Select Caleb Barley. Cornerback Virginia attack. Is that you doing the voice over me? Is that why you got a little sensitive? If it's me? I could tell you. I didn't get paid a lot of money to do it. That is a fact. I said, there you go. You guys are obviously talking about it, but we have to be official with Farley. And Minnesota's kind of jump all over dollars. So they got to jump all over because they were even talking about guys like that early. You know, up there where they're originally until they trade out with the Jets when they're sitting there, 14. They got to go with a guy like carrots. He been like the last guy. We still haven't are bored, but go back here to Farley. You know, I know you like him. I do, Fucky. You know again. If you were on the team right now, Would you be comfortable with those? Injuries of the sad I'll be worried about the back because twice he's added twice, years should as prematurely shut down his 2019 season And then he had the surgery right before the draft. Um So I won't worry about it. Um, now you picked him. He's a talented player. He's athletic. He terrific instincts and ball skills and those things I don't think he's his fastest. People portray him to be, but I think he is fast enough to make plays on the perimeter. Just, you know. Rupture mile for Elf four times. L one l two twice her needs C 2345 and I still run an 86 40. What about what about if you had to have shoulder surgery on your right throwing on had it left handed? September Would you had labor and two rotator cuff terrorists? You talk about things like, what about just going back to you? Throughout this? We're throwing out critical injuries that could be critical to what your perform. It's is and we had a guy that went well fairly high. You know, like number two overall and had to get his throwing shoulder repaired, so I don't know. Go call me crazy, but I mean, if I'm thinking about a cornerback and it back surgeries versus a quarterback, having to get his Throwing arm reconstructed. I mean, which one is going to be worse. So you got to take a chance. I mean, take a chance on the guy. I mean, he's still playing, right? He just went on the first day too. Right away. Listen, first round pick right there. You went on the first date, So I mean, something happened, right? Even with those back surgeries is all I must say. We shall see just saying, if you don't want you to say what you have won, it made your life was never the same. It just keeps going. Never stand. I could never. I could never stop once Once it happened for me. I just never stopped. It was like all the time for me. I was like, really into it. You guys have no idea what I'm talking about. But I do now you could work with me and figure it out on your own thinking you're talking about back there was a tad bit of comic relief. That's all that was Oh, there you go. We're gonna invade your LeVar wasn't it? But we're not giving you any space. But just because we fear for our jobs. I understand that I have been doing this radio thing for quite some time. Now, though, I do kind of a big deal around here. You gonna be really, really go here with the anchorman? Think? No. No kind of a big deal. Okay, but not so much here many leather bound books and you're known to hang out with you and I am run Bergen. Yeah. Good. Show everyone a good show. Great show. Well done. Well done. Well done. Yeah. There you go. Stake last show tonight if you just turn this on, And if you're you know, somewhere, and you're you didn't know what's gone on tonight. Trevor Laurence, one number one of the Jags. Zach Wilson. The guy that LeVar is talking about the surgery will go to to the Jets. Trey Lance to the 40 Niners. That was the thing that started to stir this draft up a little bit. Pits goes to the Falcons, and then you go down Chase of the Bangles Waddle the Dolphins. You saw some trades there. The Eagles jumped up with the Cowboys. They took Devante Smith, the Heisman winner. And the Bears made the trade. They go up and get that deal with the giant to fullback because they wanted Smith and they were out of luck. And the bears get Justin Fields that the biggest surprising move the biggest move of this first round plays. Yeah, I think without a doubt, I think I'm going all the way up there and getting Justin Fields was the Shake up if you will of this draft without a doubt and again. Everybody had Mack Jones going three. I didn't see it happening. Just want everything else told I didn't see that happened. And I knew that that was going to throw things in flux and going into this draft. About a month ago, people thought there be Five quarterbacks taken in the first eight picks or something along those lines, right And they thought it was gonna go to Atlanta. They thought there's gonna be got one going to Carolina want to Denver and I just didn't see that happening so they didn't slide as much. Maybe I thought they would, but they slid obviously into the middle of the first round. I'm not surprised by and here's the quick reason why I'll tell you I'm not is because you're talking about a team that was really actively pursuing a tray with one Russell Wilson. Think about it. Now you gotta watch now you get and the Shawn watch. But in terms of comparison wise, just I Justin Fields is comparable to the playing style of one. Russell Wilson. Well, the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, pick is in. Finally, Let's hear it. With the 23rd pick. The Minnesota Vikings Select Christian Dara saw Offensive lineman Virginia attack. So just to give you a little basis here. They traded with the Jets. Right, Bucky the Jets go, Allie. Vera Tucker. The Vikings go down quite a ways and they get Paris also who made out better here on this deal. I mean, Very talking is an absolute do Oh, I mean, he's an absolute dude. Yes, he's inside outside versatility. Doing so is the guy I told you, Darren. So is the guy understanding Keep the best. He's the nightclub bouncer was telling, you know, know, Whitey's know Tim's got a get out the club, So he throws about the club all the time, however, Very Tucker's versatility was the deciding factor for me Why you're on Darius..

"A player that you wanted to go get. So let's say like an Elijah Vera Tucker falls into the mid teens, and you're a 23. If you really loved him. What would you be willing to give up to go get a guy like that? Or is this draft deep enough on the offensive line that you still feel like you got a good one? If you set a 23 Yeah, you know, Ordinarily I would want to go up very Tucker's a really interesting player, Bob. But With the death of that position and knowing that I want to get a couple other things as I can in the stress this would private here. I wouldn't want to do that. If I was the Jets knowing that, Hey, there's maybe three offensive line and they're in the next six spots. That's you know, the castle is you have to make on the clock or when it's within striking distance, and my gut would be the state put this year. What do you think the giant stuff? These fascinating, I think, 10 11 12 really interesting, And here's why it's Dallas. It's the Giants and it's Philly to me have very similar needs, and I think they need a pressure plate in the front seven. I think that you use another quarter even though they added a jury. Jackson so We'll see. Somebody like quitting pay from Michigan is the social Ari from Georgia. Those air two players and make a lot of sense to me. Do you miss this? I mean, do you wish you were gonna be in a war room tonight or you? You know, it's a lot lot to be said for no one tomorrow is going to slam any of your pits were like every pick that you make. Is there need which one of you taking You need that running back over. Your quarterback says. I get it. I understand it, but you can been robbed. This burger is long in the tooth. There's only so much a quick passing game he's gonna be able to do without a running game that's going to compliment him. That's a guy you could build on the future. Then you have your quarterback out there not be harassed. That's the guy would take him on Pittsburgh. I'm taking Giovanni William from U. N C to fill my running back role in the second round, okay? But I don't like running backs and I'm going off that. No, I'd love him. I'm just not gonna keep him more than four or five years. Like I said, You don't know running backs anyway. It changed me as a person to say it right. But it's just just the way I feel, uh but I would go old line, but I think that that's their biggest need and then running back second is going to sound like you're flipping the order. "A good tackle. I just don't know if he's going to be the best tackle in the board when they pick the reason why I think that it could be higher on their board than we think, is because he, they do love those guys that can play both tackle and guard, right? If you give them those first add versatility, I think Vera Tucker's somebody that they could project in their system could play for different spots in a spot beside center-right. And that is something that they do, these guys, you can get like that later in the draft, right, right. I mean, that's not his top trade, I'm just saying that if you're stacking him together at home, Got some really good upside really clean technique. As I said if you're stacking them together, Daryl's house, later Vera Tucker. You know, all these Leatherwood all these guys in the first round record. Definitely presents the most kind of Versatility somebody that can move around the line and you can play in different spots. Whereas other guys, you know, if you drafted the guy like Darius out, he's playing left tackle. If you draft a guy life Slater he's playing left tackle, I think terrorists are very attacker gives you a little bit more versatility. Now I do wonder if he's a little bit better befit and a.

"My very last sportscast this morning on Carlos. Morning News with the passing of Hank Aaron, right. The Obviously one of the best baseball players and best athletes in the history of the world. Here's the thing, though, and this, whether we like it or not, celebrities. There are more celebrities in the world than there were 20 years ago. There's all these grates of the game. That will now be getting older and older, older that will keep passing that in the seventies and eighties. You just didn't have. He didn't know the NFL players from the forties fifties and sixties. The way you know every single player really from. We'll just call it 1970 on and every celebrity is Hollywood has grown and the entertainment world and music, So if I don't say it's gonna get worse before it gets better, it's not gonna get that We just Fame fame expands and so because of that, Unfortunately, when famous people die, it's going to touch us. I think personally, depending on who it is, Ass is more and more and more really, until until the end of time unless celebrity celebrity culture changes. I don't see that happening right now. Hank Aaron, of course today we obviously don't want to miss out on Talking about him for a moment, But I wanna come back to the Broncos and speaking of offensive tackles, we were just talking about parables and his success that he had this last year. And we're expecting John James to be back in the fold this year, basically, because tracked right well and and some people are are on the side of this is just a son cost. You know, Maybe you're going to get something out of him. Maybe you won't. But you should probably planning for the future. What do you think planning for the future? Necessarily entails. Well, I think that at nine, you have to go best player available. I'm hoping unless you're making a move one way or the other. That goes without saying, I'm hoping that that best player available of Patrick Surtain because I think he can step in right away. And And have an impact if he's there at nine, and he may not be maybe even move up a couple spots or maybe get lucky. But there are a bunch of alignment in this draft and I had done the deep dive. I'm jealous that you guys are gonna be at the Senior Bowl next week, and I'm gonna Miss it after after getting to make it there three years in a row, But when you when you look at the board, right, the first guy that's on most people's board is this later kid out of Northwestern. I don't see how he slides the nine But if you love him, maybe you go get him. I don't know where he would stash him, though, for you're right. A lot of times, people will Will draft a tackle and claimant guard for a year until they could move on from that bet you've got penny soul out of out of Oregon that some people have rejected going to size two to the Jets, and I saw where Daniel Jeremiah said that he was like Approximately. I remember his exact tweet. Zillion tackles will be taken in the first two rounds. Right? You got the Vera Tucker kid from USC that's projected to go in the top 15 so if the Broncos trade back or if they even want to trade into the first round again, There's a bunch of tackles or at nine, it falls. But you know, just looking at. I mean Mayfield from Michigan, and you could just keep doing going down The list of big kid from Virginia Tech. Tara saw There's a bunch of tackles and I think you do need to address because And I don't have John James contract in front of me. I'm pretty sure and I can pull it up. But are you sure this year you have to pay enough working? You're not cutting him if he comes back, no reason to think he's not. Then he's there. What you can get out from under it. I think starting next year, so there's a tackle you love whether it's a nine or a little later than I think you got to pull the trigger. I don't think that's the number one priority because of James and because you like what you saw from Calvin Anderson a little bit and you can probably get my for a year. I just think that if there's a tackle you loving this really tackle rich draft, then you need to. You need to pounce. You can't sit around and wait and say we'll go get our tackle next year. No, I think you need to. Either way. I think you need to, uh, have that insurance policy Whether you like it, you know, draft develop. You got your left tackle taking care of it, you know, and your balls have been reliable, but you do need to figure something out because I don't think you want James with long term answer Either way, So you know, you do need to have something else. They're only Calvin Anderson or Elijah. You know, whatever. But you need to continue to churn the bottom of the roster and try to make it better. That's that's how we do things. The NFL We've been talking to a lot of people and I've I've been positive. This show for quite some time that the move for the Broncos is moving back from nine, trading back and building the war chest. You know, you could get back into those mid teens, early twenties picks probably get a decent corner there. On build the war chest for the following draft. That way you go into this season, withdrew, locking it in a veteran. And if it doesn't pan out, you're gonna have a lot of assets to be able to move up for that quarterback. If you if you want to. If not, then you're just gonna have extra assets to go get the player you want. Would you say that that is, say a fair assessment of things. Yeah, I think that's maybe the best strategy Unless there's somebody you love it. Nine or we'll call it 7 to 9 and I don't have the draft board in front of me, right? We know Carolina's eight Who's it? Seven. I'm just throwing a lion finger, See? Yeah. But you've got room to move a little bit of. There's somebody you love right? And they slide sort of like what we saw last year with Tampa and they jumped up in front of the Broncos to make sure they got Tristen works in case the Broncos were thinking about going tackle, right? And so they just jump those couple spots. So if there's somebody you love, we'll just pretend it's Patrick Surtain. And he's there. Seven. Your worries not gonna get tonight because Carolina might be taking him that maybe jumped seven. Unless there's somebody you love. I'm 100% with you, Ben, that you've got enough good pieces in a lot of places. The You do trade back and let's just go to two years ago at 10, the Broncos could've got Devin Bush, but instead they have no affect Dalton riser, Andrew lock like making that trade with the Steelers, right? I guess one of those picks was theirs..

"It's time now for Impact player this week. What with a big fella up front that she left tackle Elijah Vera Tucker. The impact Player of the week brought to you by Mason, Proud Partners of the USC Trojans. Fight on Let's go on. No, No, The impact Player of the week. Time now for impact player this week. I'm going on the offensive line for Elijah. Vera Tucker is off to a great start since moving over to the left tackle position and his final year at USC. Even Elijah first I want to talk about the unit as a whole. How would you assess the over light The overall line play through two games? Flag replying well, so far, definitely some things to improve on like every online. By five million. With the way we knew what the stats these past again, 170 plus rushing yards, which is grass, Azad passing offense, So you know, I think we're playing pretty well so far, obviously, like I said, things that work on, you know onto Eutaw. There were a lot of guys that came back with experience on the offensive line. But some of the pieces have been shuffled around, including yourself. What's the key for? In offensive line T O build That chemistry is as a unit of five. I obviously had no spring ball s, so I was kind of tough, So we kind of came in the fall camp. All I'm kind of new positions. You know, I think it's just It's just really meeting a lot to be honest and just getting the reps and as much as possible, you know, even before fall camp started, some of the guys are meeting together. Going over the place of like that. You know, we're useful, Reese. Diversity and you know, wherever drumming up, says we're going to perform at the highest level s o so far hasn't been a big issue for you. How is the switch to left tackle? Go. I say it's going pretty well so far, obviously always room for improvement. Meeting with Dr No uncertain things, hand placement for work all that we know so far. I think I'm getting used to it. And obviously you have so much experience at the Guard spot. He ever peek over your right and give some advice to the guys hold Daniel position. Oh, yeah. Always you, Nigel worry sometimes asking the questions about it some advice. You know, they they know what they're doing over. There s Oh, yeah. You know, whenever I need to have somebody with the guard position, especially the younger guys, you know, I'll always be there. Be no. So far, everybody as a musician's down a lot of talking in the first two games about short yardage. How do you think you guys need to improve in those situations when you're either on the goal line or 3rd 1/4 and one? Yeah, I think a big part of that is discipline. You know, Right, right hand placement, right head placement. Which for your stepping with you, you're blocking and part of that is also physicality. You know what it's like Short guards when we put our hand of dirt just more people, because that's what online he's due. I've thought we definitely got better at that last week, especially from a tissue, so it's a big improvement. You know, Utah's a physical team, so we definitely got her hand and dirt. You've drawn a lot of praise that I've seen from. You know, the people evaluate offensive lines about returning for your final season and giving yourself a chance to show scouts which you could do it tackle. How do you feel about your decision? I mean, obviously opted out and then decided not back in. Yeah, I feel great about my decision. You know, it's great to be back with the team. I love my team of my brother's love with coaches and all that. But to be honest, I'm just happy to be back to compete. I'm a competitor, so I love to do you know whether I came back? I guard tackle or even center. You know, I was gonna compete. I think so far. It's just been a great experience for me. Well, this is always a fun one to compete in the line of scrimmage. We know Utah is a physical team. What do you look forward to? When when you play against a team that that likes to battle in the trenches with you? Yeah. No. Yeah, We've been talking about all week. So far as online. You know, we know their physical team. We know every time you was, she plays Utah. More like more than likely. It's going to be most physical game We played And you know being able to do that at Utah Bicycle Stadium, No fans, and I really doesn't matter. I think it's again 40 degree weather to s. Oh, yes, you find is gonna be exciting and we no, like I said, we know what type of team they are. So we're definitely coming to practice sleep with a Different chip on our shoulder. You're at least a bake it not gonna soak out, kid. You okay with the cold weather game? Yeah. I mean, I played in, I guess like 50 degree weather, but I know when you go out there is like 40 years 30 with cold with everything's kind of different, But like I said, it would be fun last one. You know how much film study would you like to do on your opponent that you obviously won't be doing this week? Because you just have no idea, nor do any of us what Utah's personnel is. They change so much, and then we don't know who's healthy and who's not. Yeah, well, like you said, I mean, maybe there's somebody cover cases where we really don't even know who will be out there. Um, starting, but I mean, really doesn't matter. Does anybody out there? You know what I had in the dirt, you know, go full speed. Um, you know, we're kind of uses by now. We would have no film on as you or Arizona s O is basically just like another week for us, and you know, we should go out there, right? But all right, well, it's gonna be a big man's game. We know that. That's why I was talking to us. His best big man, Elijah Vera Tucker, this week's impact player. Thanks a beauty. Thank you. What an impressive start to the season for a lie. Shahira Tucker and Sean think everyone very thankful that he opted back in not sure whether it's offensive line would would be without him. But he has been fantastic in the line improved last week, zero sacks, but still some interior pressure issues that we looked at. I mean, really remarkable from a B T to go from from guard to tackle with that much success and how he's done it so quickly to pick up that position. It's like the hardest position, maybe in football to play left tackle and stop the best pass rusher. Another team and just to pick it up so quickly is just Speaks a lot toe. You know, the kind of player is anything is making himself a lot of money. I think by moving garden attacks Will you come back? I think I think you're looking at a first round draft pick right now to like his buddy Austin Jackson, who's starting for the Miami Dolphins. Very good Dolphins team. He should be in the playoffs, so I thought a cool moment Clay held in the showed it earlier this week in anything I did with him. He showed it off and I thought was cool if you go back and watch the game winning touchdown, devise Run into the end zone. Andrew Vorhees makes a great hustle, play Max and basically clears out three dudes at the end and pushed divide into the end zone. We credit of of I He didn't reach out. They didn't make the mistaking me in week one. But the reason he got in is because his buddy came up on basically carried him in and that's a nice moment for an offensive lineman, and I'm sure went over well with the team. Into guys that have been in the program for a very long time. And when you mentioned those players, I think that's a common thing with this entire roster as you see glimpses of elite level play and stretching to get to the second level, and that Dr specifically just marching all the way down and punching it in. It's like, you know, it's there. It's just a matter of tapping into it. Every single time and for me walking into this season, one of the biggest questions was the tackle. Spot, both right and left tackle. You got two former guards. How do they transition? It's not a concern for me and week three. The concern is now into your wise. Those guys need to take a step up and you better believe that's a challenge. That's that's the message this week in the locker room. I've been in that locker room before. When it's Utah Week. You're pointing straight at the defensive tackles and the offensive guard saying it's your time to win to win this ball game. Big man's game Trojans might get a boost in the interior bread Neilan, I think, pushing the to get back into the lineup tonight..

"Run on 1st and 15 set him up for first and goal. Just give it back to Stephen Carr. Slovis will pass has some pressure throws over the middle. It's complete to Erich Roman hope the tight end who makes the catch dives into the end zone, and it's a touchdown. USC Always skipped ahead a little bit, but that's okay. Trust me. Stephen Carr did get into the end zone. They had this rotation early on again. It seems like Max. They're doing things based off the situation down and distance less than this is revised Drive. This is Steven's drive. They got away with it. But in this case this particular sequence Stephen Carr really got some momentum going. Exactly got some momentum really felt like he was in a rhythm and just kind of off tackle left and Guy. We really have me and you haven't talked about a bunch is Elijah Vera Tucker. And on that play, you could you could tell him and he was He was pushing the defenders back. That's the dominance you want out of the offensive line. Credit very Tucker on that on that drive and great to see Steven Car getting get in the rhythm, getting emotion and Ah, valuable drive right there. Before the end of the half. You put seven on the board and That was a drive that if you're in Arizona fan, you look back and say, Man, we should get off the field twice. On third down, you didn't see scores and as a result, it's a big reason why they won the game. Arizona able to get another field goal just before the half, So it was a four point Trojan lead at intermission. Second half, USC starts off with the football. They get three points on the board. Parker Lewis, a 28 yard field goal 20 to 13, but Arizona came right back first play from scrimmage for them on offense. It's grant Coronel to Cunningham for 75 yard touchdown Getting behind the defense tied things up a 20. Then USC had their worst stretch the game in terms of results of drive and in the red Zone with a missed field goal. It's still 2020. They wrap up the third quarter fourth and one from the Arizona Four Marquis Step loses two yards. It's still 2020 and of the fourth quarter we go Arizona despite having a miss earlier in the game. Lucas Haver Sig trusted from fifth Be one yards and hits a really clutch kick to give the Wildcats a 23 to 20 lead USC packs against the wall. Just how they like it. Eric Chrome Unhook You heard the highlight just moments ago heard him talk about it earlier today catches a six yard touchdown. I might have been his only target of the game. It was certainly is only catch. There has been a lot said about the usage. Of tight ends in general, their ability to make plays for themselves. This was AH, spot in the game where us he had to have a touchdown and they got it. Yeah, I got that touchdown. When we just We heard the highlight there before little slant route to Erich Roman oak. Happy for him. I feel like we alluded to it in his interview. He's kind of Ah, run blocking tight, and it feels like that's kind of how he's using this offense. But we know he has a skill we know he has. The talent is that he's the starter in a in a good group for a reason he can. He can catch the ball and great job by keen Slovis, replacing the blitz with the throw as she gets him for a touchdown and Great to see criminal get involved the past game. So you're feeling if you're a Trojans fan, Okay, defense just needs toe. Keep them out of the end zone for three minutes, and everything's gravy wasn't going to be the case. Grand Canal. Another solid drive led Arizona down the field, and with just over 90 seconds left, he put the Wildcats on top. First and goal of the six yard line. Goodell looking left throws left, It's completed the 65 down in the end zone touchdown. Arizona with a minute 35 remaining, Arizona takes the lead 29 to 23..
