He is a true national treasurer. Paul beauge has done at all. It's easy to say he'll be embarrassed for me saying this but Paul demonstrated an early age. Leadership graduated from West Point. Who went on to fight with valor in the Vietnam War as you mentioned? He is a medal of honor recipient. But Paul's life work outside of his business. Success has been to take care of the rest of his veteran buddies. So Paul is always out there taking care of veterans. He sits on the Board of Fisher House. If you need Paul for a veteran 'cause all you have to do is reach out and I guarantee you wherever he is he'll be there for you so I've witnessed this firsthand. He's also. I'm very proud to pub- Yuka friend so wanted to tell us about two so my background. My father was a military officer and as a result the lived all over the world when I got to pick a college I had decided to go to Yale on Swimming Scholarship. And my dad said don't you think maybe? WanNa look at West Point and I said well I'm not I'm going to fail. And he said why don't you go? Look at West. Point turns out he had it all set up and I got up there. The coastal coaches. The athletic director is there and I went on Saint Louis and they'd ask the athletic director at the High School I was at. What did he think I should do? And he said if you go to West Point for one hour you will be a better person for it in your entire life so I called West Point and I'm coming. I'm not sure I'll stay coming and I got to West Point and I had that first day when you get everybody else. Each screens are I thought it was so much fun. I just thought it was wonderful and I enjoyed it ever since and ended up swimming at West Point Made All American twice his number two guy in my class in military order in the talk. Two percent academically. So did well. Because I think that's structured environment is something. I was inclined to enjoy afterwards because of my academic achievements. I was authorized to go to the Graduate School of my choice at the time of my choice and I decided to go right. After West Point and I chose to go to the Stanford Business. School did that. After graduating nineteen sixty seven from Stanford. I reported to the hundred and first airborne and November of that year. I ended up in Vietnam. Tell us about to experience in the armed forces and how that Being awarded the Medal of honor recipient. Once you decide you're going to go in the military you have one option that is to be the best military officer if you're not case or in NCO or enlisted person you must strive to be the best if you are accepting of something less than that. You're doing a discredited men and women who are in your command and one of the things I realized my unit I got formed in. This is essential part of my upbringing. If you when I joined a hundred I I was the only one in my company and the colonel said. You've been to graduate school if yes sir. We said as a guy in this unit has been to got three graduate degrees just like yours so he won't be impressed. I said well I think if I have a chance to meet him I can impress him and he says you just met him. And I'm not impressed. Knew that Noah Terry was going to demand of me something I had not yet been prepared to do and that is to give every single minute of Ny laking day to the service of my men not to wishes the generals colonels but what I owed to my man and built my company from one person. Knee one hundred sixty four I end up. Had about seventy to eighty percent of the men came from the stockade aids of one hundred and I and the eighty second airborne these guys who were considered worthless by the rest of the United States military. We're considered wonderful for me. Because it added to the number I needed and the strange thing that unit which was named the clerks jerks clerks. There's a few guys had graduate degrees and they were speechwriters for the commanding general and then the jerks where the guy out of the Stock Aids and they wore that badge of honor as clerks jerks years later I was told by one of the colonels was introducing me that he had learned something about me and then no one spoke about it. It turned out that unit of losers went on to be among the most highly decorated unit in the entire history of the Vietnam War for units that size so these jerks because we were willing to put all of our focus on them. They paid us in return to become one of the finest combat units in the history of the United States involvement of Vietnam. A Bruce is that America's all about Oh John I think that What Paul just articulated is truly. What makes this country great because Paul said you can be a graduate degree person you can be a PhD person? You can also be someone who went to high school who couldn't afford to go to college in the end analysis when you join the military. You're on equal footing. And then it's it's how you measure up everything. The Paul talked about is how you measure up and I'll just say something In knowing Paul And being fortunate to know Paul what the military made Paul but I suspect long before the military Paul has been a his whole life. Not a follower a leader. That's what the military attracts. That's why military men and women are so attractive to the private sector. You cannot find people who know how to collaborate. No one team were truly means. Understand what it means to put the company OR THE PLATFORM ABOVE SELF. These are folks that outperform in every way all the time and their exceptional. This is why Cushman Wakefield privilege to hire every veterans that we have and why we will always put an emphasis on hiring veterans. Because you get men and women like Paul Beauge Who who is as I said before in our introduction a national treasure incident where you will be a memo avant. He was post I was told. Take your unit get on the Helicopters Your Saigon. And we're going to let you out. Were your mission will be to make contact with the NBA. Mvp UNITS WITHDRAWING FROM SAIGON. After we did that we got on artillery support. So we didn't we couldn't get artillery support that we were left if you will with these fantastic pilots from both air force and the army helicopters in large aircraft. They were our support. I had lost so many people from heat prostration and everything else the first we were in combat for three days in a row and just before evening set in dust set in on the eighteenth of March nineteen sixty. My men asked me. Can WE Recon by fire. Which means you just take. Fire a few rounds into the jungle up in the air and see what happens in. Oftentimes people respond the enemy response. Well in my case the enemy which was almost five hundred. Seventy two six hundred people fired in return. We had fifty nine people versus five hundred zero. We had one tenth looking at me hat. And my guys battled against that force or eighteen hours straight no break and finally when light started to come the NBA NBC. Picked up the wounded left. And when we came to the battlefield found one hundred fifty seven other bodies affairs and the men went onto claim as rightly should that was the preemptive Vattel of cat withdrawal because we were in contact we inflicted this major injuries and wounded to the people who were left trying to defend knows fifty nine of us if you're a member of the fifty nine something like forty to receive medals known to have performed the purple heart so that that's what prompted them to become as people look back on the history saying hey these clerks and jerks were pretty good. They were the most highly decorated unit history. The Vietnam more effective for what to do for America and then continue to do by helping veterans today. And thank you again for calling for. "So I think this decisions little overdue. I would done it about two years ago if I were them. Giving the mistakes piling up but I'll have more thoughts on that later in the episode Moving on we did have the ninth round of the Pit Lane parlayed Grand Prix League at the XBOX series. We were at Austria last night. Jake neely won his fourth race of the season and three of the last four races fall by Colin Taylor and myself So unfortunately the VATTEL news wasn't enough to propel me to victory so hoping it would give me a little bit of extra motivation. I don't know why but So we got silverstone next week and then our all star as which. I'm super psyched for will explain more of the all stories next week. Mike. How the PS four race go so? It's a little bit of a recovery for me. After few bad weeks David Lighting one again. I know at this point is pretty much no surprise there and Mister French finished in second and then I finished in third so it was a lot of fun at Montreal. Really cool track then granted smell on Sunday. I did come out on top victorious. David lighting was about six inches from being passed to turns from the end at authors or Mount Panorama. Whatever you WANNA call it so that was a lot of fun. We had a couple more guys joined the Sunday night. League so is week. We have forty minutes at Monza so a little bit easier than bathurst. Munza sounds like a wreck waiting to happen also for the xbox leave just wanted to give a quick shot we actually did ever. I Twenty car grid so that was really cool. So shouts everybody's sign up the league. It's been a lot of fun and everybody's in the PS four grants moly. Thanks for joining. It's been a good time. Just some quick items to note here before we kind of round out the episode today. Formula One is is expected to announce their schedule soon and it is believed that Austria is going to be hosting not only the first race on July fifth but also the second race on a separate weekend so July twelfth so back to back weekends at Austria this is according to German paper Bild And then the believe it was something like seventeen races at twelve venues or something along those lines so expect something soon from Formula One so we can start marking up our counters to look forward to those races. It was reported. That Fernando Alonzo is unlikely to do a full season of Indycar twenty twenty. Obviously those rumors were put to bed in about January February. Given the circumstances of where we're at right now it kind of opened up a new Pandora's box of Fred Watch. We will keep you apprised of if we hear anything as far as for no Lonzo's concerned and then finally On top of what we announced beginning the episode with Indycar going back to Texas Morgan News on that front is that team. Most teams are actually back to work at this point prepping for Texas and other races. This season I know the indycar media team has been doing some team previews and whatnot so today Tuesday. They were giving us kind of a back or behind the scenes tour of Carlin showing showing us. What THEIR GARAGES? And now. We're looking like so good news to have looks like most of the INDYCAR teams putting their personal back to work so that we can get ready for the season. Yeah excited it is now less than a month away fingers crossed but I am also tired. That Alonzo is still talking about a full season or not a full season. I feel like this is like the Danika thing. That's just never going to go away when we talked about Danika for the first time before her indy. Five hundred appearance with that being said. I'd WanNa give a quick shout out to few team pit lane members this week. Let's give a shout out to George Butts Jess's dead and last but not least carry him so with that and thank you to everybody who's continued to listen to all the episodes in whatnot we put out. It's been unto chat with people about the episodes in about racing as we navigate these challenging times. So with that. It's time for the facts game. Yes we still don't have a more creative name for that. And I've put little into narrowing down three facts so this might not be very easy. I am a twenty one year old driver but not a rookie. I have won championships in Indy Lights. And the prototype class and I need a third fact here and I was released from my contract right before the two thousand nine hundred season started. This is name Ryan with ladder Toward your effort that was very poor but yes it does law almost as much as your effort in the three facts yet. You know to be honest with you. As you're reading off your third day I was rambling last minute. I had a busy day with a couple interviews that that we did today and just totally spaced that. It was my turn to do this. So yes sometimes even I forget. I think it's be a new driver's name as allowed adult Lord. That should be your like Xbox username. Whatever you call it Gamekeeper Greg. I think you showing my age so with that we are going to bring back pitfalls this week. And now it's time for pit-lane parlays pitfalls the week I'll it makes me so happy I mean don't get me wrong. I'm I'm all for being positive in these pretty dark times but to get the pitfall people and whatnot again. It's just a hobby of mine. I don't know why So again thanks to everybody's been listening show to Mike. He's actually done a lot of interviews and whatnot last couple of weeks. I really hold down the fort there. I Jess has been able to jump into a couple as well during our her morning slash afternoon. I'm stock staring computer so unfortunately unable to join. Join one of these days but yes thanks again to everybody's been listening Hope Y'all staying safe out there and doing well So I got my positive bit. They're done with knocking. Move into the negative so my pitfall is related to Ferrari fans. Obviously we just discussed the battle being released and you would think that's the bashing. Vattel had one seventy percent of the races and three championships over the last five years given the comments that were being made. How could you do this to you? Guys give him back cars. You set them up for failure. He's one of the best of all time. What are you thinking? He's got the most wins. What are you doing I mean? Have they been paying attention for? Let's say allies like three years when he's been repeatedly spending on his own crashing into his may crashing another cars throwing away a winning. Germany winding winding getting team mourners. I I get fashion as fans and if I was a loyal fan like let's say I was a huge fan of just new garden and Joseph was doing pretty good work but also shooting himself in the foot a couple times. He got fired from team. Penske yeah I might be a little upset too but I would also take a step back and say you know like Oh that's somewhat justified a little bit so for Vattel fans to kind of blatantly. Ignore some of the false that he's had the last couple of years and some the team orders that he got specifically within the last year to to even elevate his standing in the championship. Standings that much more think it's a little unfair to be Matt Ferrari in this situation and I came out today and said that it wasn't because of money as far as why they can get a contract figured out not sure I'm buying that. I think he's getting paid something like something absurd. I don't want to throw out a number without googling it real quick I swore owes like sixty million euros a year or something ridiculous like that ugly without while Mike next one. But some I've pitfall is Ferrari fans for overreacting to Ferrari's announcement that their parting ways with. That'll let me ask you this Switch up our normal pitfall style here and ask you a question mid pitfall would you even if it was just for say the five hundred or one race welcomes Abeche veteran. Indy-car I would absolutely I. I have no problem with that'll as a person or the driver. I just think he's overrated. And I think it would be a huge part wakeup call and part relief for him to come try indycar just because it is a little humbling to go from the second best team in the top open wheel series to. Let's say Ed Carpenter Racing Where you're jumping into a car. That's not the best in the grid. Plus everybody else is pretty much similar in strength and whatnot so to me. It would be something cool to see. Just see like how he does stack up like let's say he comes over here and does really well. It might change my opinion of that much a little bit. Because in my opinion he's had two years of his twelve year career. Roy hasn't had a good car saw. It's hard to see where battle stacks up in history. Just because he's had an unbelievable car for almost the entire career fair and I do agree. I think it'd be cool Be Curious to how he would do with. The fans. Alonzo took really well to the fans after being kind of secluded death one for so many years so be cool to see how he handled that but my pitfall is in the NASCAR WORLD. Not The fact the race this weekend. I am intrigued. See how everything will play out over the next fourteen days with all the races they have but in order to determine with no qualifying in order to determine the starting grid positions one twelve and thirteen and twenty four and so forth are determined by a random draw from charter teams in those positions in team. Owner Points Okay. Understand that so that goes all the way down the grid then it. Kinda changes for darling. The Second Darlington race which I think is next Wednesday. It's the first half of the field than the second half field than to make it even more confusing with all of these rules in stuff. They're throwing in here. There is now the really annoying competition caution. Being used at utilized at Darlington I believe for the May twenty seven race or maybe for the COQ six hundred. The article is a little confusing. It's on motorsport dot com break down very well but it's just it's just a lot of confusion for fans especially maybe casual fans that are are tuning in and they just don't understand. Why is this guy? Starting here? No wave around free pass for the first one flag down. The pit cycle repeats. There's just there's just a lot to break down there and I don't know if that's going to play well on TV especially for casual fans who are just tuning in for something to watch. They might not understand what's going on. I don't know I mean given the rules. They've come out with. I think NASCAR is under the impression that everybody who watches their sport has an Iq of like three hundred ninety seven. Yeah confusing article to read. I if I took more time to read it but the Coca Cola Coca Cola. Six hundred will hold pole qualifying but the race at the same track later that week will be based on the results from the six hundred owning the same one. The Twenty and twenty one to forty grid position inversion utilized Darlington. Like that's ends right there. I'm just kind like not sure what's going on anymore. You lost me. You went left and I know it's not the writers fault it's IT'S NASCAR's rules or whatever but it's very using. Yeah this is like xfinity one. Where if you didn't fit the first time that you put it the second time then you.
"vattel" Discussed on Pit Lane Parley
After few bad weeks. Think David Lighting one again. I know at this point is pretty much no surprise there and Mister French finished in second and then I finished in third so it was a lot of fun at Montreal. Really cool track then granted smell on Sunday. I did come out on top victorious. David lighting was about six inches from being passed me to turns from the end at authors or Mount Panorama. Whatever you WANNA call it so that was a Lotta Fun. Formula One is is expected to announce their schedule soon and it is believed that Austria is going to be hosting not only the first race on July fifth but also the second race on a separate weekend so July twelfth so back to back weekends at Austria this is according to German paper Bild And then the believe it was something like seventeen races at twelve venues or something along those lines so expect something soon from formula so we can start marking up our counters to look forward to those races. It was reported that Fernando Alonzo is unlikely to do a full season of indycar twenty twenty. Obviously those rumors were put to bed in about January February. Given the circumstances of where we're at right now it kind of opened up a new Pandora's box of Fred Watch. We will keep you apprised of if we hear anything as far as for no Lonzo concerned and then finally on top of what we announced beginning the episode with Indycar going back to Texas Morgan News on that front is that team. And what? Now we're looking like so good news to have looks like most of the INDYCAR teams putting their personal back to work so that we can get ready for the season. Yeah excited it is now less than a month away fingers crossed but I am also tired. That Alonzo is still talking about a full season or not a full season. I feel like this is like the Danika thing. That's just never going to go away when we talked about. Danika for the I eighty episodes before her indy. And I put very little effort into narrowing down three facts so this might not be very easy. I am a twenty one year old driver but not a rookie. I have won championships in Indy Lights. And the prototype class and I heard fact here and I was released from my contract right before the two thousand nine hundred season started. "Zero CD a big thinks think Justice communications network for megashow happen. They thinks Daniel was working the dials Vic, thanks for tuning and we really appreciate it. Don't forget, the follow us on Twitter and on Facebook, that Dr Dalia show. So this is this is really frightening. They say deaths of despair, quote, unquote are taking more lives of millennial Americans than any other generation and more. Millennials are dying of drugs, alcohol and suicide than other generations, quite business. Insider, they cite several reasons including their financial burdens or student loan debt housing market. They say the affordability crisis. Millennials are dealing with is impacting the mental health in time when they lack social support going gonna talk about this. They say these deaths to drugs, alcohol or suicide claimed the lives of thirty six thousand American in two thousand seventeen drug overdoses are the most common cause of death. So I don't know if I want to blame financial burdens on that they do have a whole different financial setup than we did. It's very scary going out to dinner. I is easily fifty to one hundred dollars. Now, it's like when the hell to that happened, you know, whatever happened to, you know, dollar ninety nine prime rib that I got to have in college right in Las Vegas now you don't have that anymore. But they do have a whole slew of challenges that we didn't have, but thirty six thousand deaths are millennials this is what's bringing our life expectancy down people are living longer, but the overall numbers going down because we have so many young people. Dying Jamie Deuchar me for time magazine report by public health groups trust, for America's health and wellbeing. Trust the report Lipton. Millennials h twenty three to thirty eight and two thousand nineteen he in the most recent data from the city they say deaths of despair have increased across all ages of the past ten years, but more, so younger Americans from two thousand seven to two thousand seventeen adults age eighteen to thirty four saw sixty nine percent increase in alcohol related deaths, one hundred eight percent increase in drug related deaths large field by the opioid crisis and a thirty five percent increase in death by suicide. Okay. Now, we'll we'll we'll we'll. Oh, seventy stop for a second year. What will okay the opioid crisis has an opioid crisis. That is a general term. But implied in the opioid crisis is doctors overprescribe narcotics. Well, and this is not a people doing drugs or bringing them in from other countries, and, you know, working with drugs, a legally, this is about we caused people to become addicted to opiates. Well, I thought that was an argument for older individuals that have chronic pain. If the average young person doesn't have chronic pain, or they get over there injury. Pretty easily. That just doesn't fit with doctors continually giving them narcotics or forcing them to take narcotics, as opposed to doing something else for their pain. We have a lot of young people in pain, but not like older people. So we need to be really, really, really, really careful with is it opioid crisis or people using opiates for drugs. Right crisis to me means something that we. Yeah. We have crisis, but the media's is been applied. It's something that we've we cause, and we could reverse I and they don't want to put it under like drug. Overdosing there. We got to be really careful with, with the way that's worded. So the replace the report cites a few reasons upticks, they say, young adults Clinton Gaijin, risk-taking, Aigars, comprise, a heist, number of enrolled, military personnel. They just proportionately live in high stress environments, curricula facilities there, other structural factors play like student loan debt healthcare. Childcare and expensive housing market. These four costs are part of the great American affordability crisis plaguing. Millennials I agree with that we have a great American affordability crisis. So when people have financial burdens they lack social support, and they have to live with their parents. Get depressed a forty percent increase in major depression. That's quite so Blue Cross Blue shield report. But one in five don't seek treatment because I can't afford it while they have high deductibles. Most of them, they like it's too expensive to go to the doctor. It is. We don't have very inexpensive mental health services to down to, to drop, you know, one hundred dollars or two hundred dollars because you have a warrant deductible that we didn't have prior to two thousand nine can I say? Studies if out of correlation between a dead people in mental health problems while this research by its nature can't identify Kazan Cordova's insider, the likelihood of having a health disorders three times high among those with unsecured debt analysis. And then they say millennials don't always have someone to share them burdened with the less likely to have social support than of generations. They're marrying later are less connected to political or religious communities, that I agree with a lot of millennials have less religion in their lives. So what's going on here? This is huge. Because if you and I are expecting Medicare for all, I'm not expecting it. I'm kind of not really excited about that. I don't see how it's gonna work, but if we're hoping to have social security, or Medicare for all. We need young people putting money in and we have money you know, young people killing themselves and not working that's a problem. We are going to become broke more broke that we are now. And we know why young people to kill themselves. We don't want them in despair. Now older generations don't understand because they had to grow up with the recession. They had to grow up, you know, in war, they had to serve, you know, and, and do TJ and at I meet, you know, and lose friends and Vattel who were killed right next to them until all the older older older generations, kind of, don't understand what the younger generations are still upset about. But again, you can't blame them if they didn't lead lifted wartime, or have to escape the holocaust, or that kind of stuff. I mean, they know about it, but their problems are different and I will vouch for them that they got problems that we did it have. I mean, I you know, and and, and I mean, in my age group, I would never compare to what you'd have to go through with wartime holocaust, or whatever my family having to flee Europe had been really scare. Sorry, we have friends and family who had to, you know it's just it's, it's frightening. What so many people do escape countries of persecution? So, yeah, the millennials might have a little easier in that respect. But when we look at the psyche and we look at the drive to compete the drive to live. You have to have a goal, you have to have an eye on the prize, and we have a much different society. Right. The, you know, I remember always wanted to have a color TV. And a TV that, you know, you know, kind of has some fancy switches and things like that, or a computer. I always thought, oh my God. Having a computer would be like the coolest things I wanna make money so I can have a computer in my house. When I know we, we have a computer in our hands with the with the phone. I mean, we, you know, we have computers at our fingertips. Now all the time. I'm like, I wanna be able to know anything, anytime or watch any movie. I want or whatever we have that access. Now. I wanna be able to eat out. Well, now it's cheaper to eat out than cook. Sometimes so what kind of things do you are you striving for? Yeah. You know, and then, you know while I wanna be a pilot, I wanna be a police officer firefighter. I wanna be a doctor. I wanna be a lawyer. That's a lot of kids younger people wanted to be now, you know, it's I. It's not that glorious to be a police officer, you get shot at a killed while you're standing waiting for your Jack in the box lunch. I mean that's frightening. Heck. People don't want to be doctors feel really, really frustrated. I really feel sad for medical students who might have had these ideals about becoming a doctor and then as they're in medical school. As watching news. They start to see how people blame doctors for everything. That's one of the most hated professionals out there because we took a pen from pharmaceutical company. We let it from some company a pen and, you know, these students are going, hundreds of thousands of dollars debt wanting to their lives to people only to be told that non-doctors going to be hiring them, telling them how to do medicine. Making them follow a computer. Algorithm. That's not that's not fun. We became doctors because we wanted to be artists in medicine. We want to save lives. We didn't wanna follow some stupid rule. So it's this is what millennials are dealing with. And it's, it's not that easy to know that you're going to get out of college and not be able to have a job. If you have a job, you're gonna get fired the second, the recession happens a recession happens senior parents out of work. It just it just changes, things knowing that you're going to be replaced by robots or computers, knowing that, whatever.

"Best damn first aid kits on the planet. So yes, as we move into our number two, you know what we're gonna do. We're going to talk a little Formula one and Formula one what you're going, what, what's what where Jimmy going with this like formula? One doesn't deserve to be on the show. Like, I don't know. I probably got people all over the place going where he's actually going to talk Formula, one like I know I'm actually gonna do kind of a segment on it. But the reason being is kind of intro to earlier in the show, they had shenanigans absolute bananas happened in Formula one, you need to go watch the video of Vattel and Louis Hamilton. Punch literally veteran Louis Hamilton into Google, and it's gonna pull up the video million times. Millions of hits all over the internet and ninety nine percent of the people agree that'll was screwed. And you know, even Louis Hamilton class act in the way this happened. It wasn't him. This isn't F ideal. This wasn't a Louis Hamilton deal. So Matt respect for the way. Louis Hamilton has Lewis Hamilton is, you know, handled handle this scenario. I, I don't even know what to say. It's crazy. I know what's funny, though got out of his car are, you know, at the finish where they've got them all lined up. He went actually took the sign for position one and moved it in front of where his car should have been and then and took the two put next to Lewis Hamilton. So what's funny, but all this being said like there was actually this really, really RAD clip that I'm gonna air here from Sebastian vessel. And I think you guys are gonna joy this. This is him courtesy of Sky Sports television. This was him talking bay. Basically about Formula one and he's just disgusted with what the sport has become. So it's about two minutes long and it's just a really, really good. Listen from Sebastian metal on the current state of formula. One just thinking. I really love my racing purists. I love going back and looking at the old times the old 'cause he'll drive us and, you know, it's on the chance to meet them until to them heroes in a way. So really love that. But. I just wish I. Was maybe as good as I am doing what I do, but, you know, being in debt time rather than today, I think it's not about just that decision. Today. This other decisions and just hear the Wooding when people come on the radio, you know, that we have now we sort of having to official language, I think, is all wrong. I think we should should be able to say what we think. But we're not. So in this terms and disregard. I disagree with where the sport is now. You know, you have all this wording that, yeah, I gained an advantage. I didn't gain it advantage. I voided a collision this, I think is wrong, you know, is not really what we're doing in the car. And is racing commonsense..

"What was behind the scenes? I think just in general Republicans understand the terrorist attacks on American consumers, and we don't wanna see them in place long term, nor do I believe the President Trump does either. He's using as leverage and trading. Gauchet shins, use them as leverage in this situation. Brilliantly, quite honestly, I know for my part after those news reports were published last week I called Mexican bastard said, regardless of what you read in the press understand if the president, imposes terrace and he's dead serious about this. They're not votes. Override it so take that threat. Very seriously. You know you have to do more. This is an uncontrolled situation at the border. I think the acting secretary is doing an excellent job. I agree with everything you said here in the interview, but this is completely out of control. We've had groups of thousand migrants, just no Paso sector loan, mcallen, Texas. They're bigs days twenty four hundred and one thing that's not being talked about enough is the involuntary servitude associated with is the. Human trafficking. It's out of control when we were down the border just last week. Twenty five to thirty troops senators families are fraudulent families. It's an adult using child. Some sometimes he's a range, but there's one three year old boy, real told about abandoned any hot Texas field. That's dimension that really we aren't talking about enough in terms of this problem. You see the specifics in this deal. You think it is new. I mean it had been talked about from secretary. Nielsen for quite some time specific thing is talked about beefing up enforcement on their southern border, but they haven't done it the numbers, we're talking about six thousand national guard troops would be significant pumping up the migrant protection protocol of Comoran visuals right now. They've only taken to more than eight thousand of people waiting for silent in Mexico. But again, what we need to do. We need to change our laws so that we can rapidly and more accurately, determined those individuals that clearly don't have Vattel silent plane and safely, return them to the home country. Be a consequence. We can't let this go. Uncontrolled the way it is tool. The president uses now. With these tariffs is having an effect. If you look at the Washington Post hiring slowed sharply in may is companies industries hardest hit by the president's trade wars, basically, manufacturing construction saw particularly anemic job growth in may and they point directly to this tool. Are you concerned about that? I am concerned their businesses both farmers and manufacturing Wisconsin that are definitely feeling the short term pain here. But what's interesting bread is I talk to these individuals feeling that short term pain the last common almost almost always is. But I support the press is trying to do we have not been treated fairly by trading partners. Whether it's Europe, whether it's Mexico, whether it's China and of course China's the main abuser here. So we the president had to get their attention. But I think the president also realizes that the clock is running out, he, we need to conclude these deals because damage will be long term, you might see manufacturing start moving over overseas to for example supply overseas customers. A main manufacturing business. So we've got to conclude trade deal, so we can bring the certainty back to county that president provided by his stop adding to the regulatory burden in a more competitive seems to push back for the Mexico. Potential terrorists was much more than than it had been for China and holding the line against China, when it comes to China. And while way in particular is that a national security issue in your mind or a trade issue. It's both. Their involvement Airtel communication system represents potential national security issue for all of our allies, as well as the United States. Plus, when you take a look at what China's done economically because of their economic industrial policies. Grossly massively increased capacity in the Steelers street and a lot of pressure on steel throughout the world. They're made in China twenty twenty-five initiative will target ten of their industries that way. We'll also bankrupt those keep tennis throughout the world as well. So no China is aggressively using their industrial policy is causing harm economically throughout the world. And China has to recognize that they have to follow the world trading organisation rules. They have stop stealing our intellectual property, by cyber theft through espionage force technology transfers. They are the main abuses, the system, I'd rather have United world demanding the China abide by the rules. But same time, we do need to make sure other trae. Partners. Treat is fairly and real with real reciprocal treatment. If these terrorists had gone for the deal not struck on Friday night with Mexico, GOP, senators ready to stand up against this president. We indicated that we do not want tariffs long-term with Mexico. They are value trading partner could have increased the cost Kadhamy seventeen half a billion dollars at five cent, eighty seven have billion dollars when all the way twenty five cents. So again, I believe tears are attacks on consumer, I'm asking you about the caucus caucus ready to say, 'i stand. "We're talking about real estate and mortgage strategies for two thousand nineteen win where and how let's go back and talk some you had talked about trends in the earlier part of our program. But let's talk about some repairs repairs on properties can be a show stopper for some of these real estate transactions that can also become expensive. If you don't handle things in the beginning talk a little bit about those. That's right. I was in a house actually yesterday believe and the pool was Vattel pool. It was torn it was ripped it was about half full, the water was Brown saw frogs in it. And this was for sale. And I didn't know that this is, is the owner selling the pool as it is or something like that. And so, at the end, I started interviewing said man, what's going on with the pool? How you going to sell it as it is. And he does have ordered a ladder and gosh, thanks, everyone. So busy I hadn't been able to get it fixed. But it will be fixed by the time that the loan closes. So a told him, I said, well, here's one thing that we can do rather than have require made a come out there and look at the pool. Maybe you can ask the person that fixes the pool for pool certification and I'll make that part of the requirement. They may want me to come out there and take a picture of it and all that stuff. But of trying to save him a little money on reinspection of did of, of FHA appraisal this week and a noticed that there were shingles that had been replaced in the, the roof didn't look good and FHA requires that the roof have at least a two year minimum life on it. And I said, gee, I don't know if that's gonna make it or not. So require Rufin spec. Action by certified root for saying that the house. The roof should have an estimated two year economic life. And if it doesn't, you know, that they'll have to replace the roof and the house. Oh, well, under what it was what other homes of similar of size and quality were selling for, and I have a feeling that roof had had an impact on it. So we'll see what happens on on that one. But the, you know, rotted wood, things like that feeling paint. Yes. Yes. Torn flooring, broken tile, non-functioning plumbing, electrical heating and air systems drainage problems holes in the sheet rock, broken windows, foundational problems. That's right, damage hazardous waste on the property times. You'll see a big crack in the brick and for me. I've got a, a rule of thumb if I can stick a pencil in the crack or something like that. Then it probably deserves to be looked at take a picture. Of it. You know, I'll take a bunch of pictures to show what the house is really like, and it's my job to present that, you know, I'm the only one that really looks at the house and the mortgage loan process of than the bar in the cellar. So sometimes they have a home inspects. Yes, I try to give the person that the mortgage company, a clear and concise pictures of what that house is. And, and so there no surprises. A lot of times, people will get a home inspection, which is different than appraiser of what do talk a little bit about the difference. Tom between a home inspection in a home appraisal. Well, a home inspector goes into much, more detail as to the functioning operation of all the factors in the house. He'll test all the plugs to make sure they're grounded hill, turn on the dishwasher, and make sure it works the dispose. Zyl of hill, look at the heater and the air conditioner to a point that I've really can't do. I mean I can look at one and say, you know, I think the thing is making a lot of noise. But I don't know why. Or it might have cracked heat exchanger that I don't know. He'll get on the roof to inspect the roof where I made this look at it from the ground. And he concentrates on the physical aspects of the house concentrate, on the value, right of the property. And yes, I can see things that maybe other people don't see. But, you know, I I look at the big stuff he looks at the little stuff the minute stuff. Yes, yes, the big difference, one of the strategies to Tom is we see you cross the mortgage desk is when there's not a home inspection done, and they just everybody goes out and makes their deal and Setzer terms on the contract and signs that turns it in few days later, when the buyer has a home inspection and a lot of issues come back, then there's a second round of, of renegotiations with that contract. And some of my realtor said suggested strongly that the. Inspection. Maybe there might should be pre listing inspection. If the seller knows that there could be some things some issues, and just go ahead and get them out on the table. Some real realtors are like well that's up to the seller. But that knowing what the repairs are an think you've said many times, Tom on this show, that it's a good idea to walk around the house, and just look from a pretender an outside person, in the things that you, you may be able to see some things like rotted wood or things that you normally, don't notice. But if you already know these things ahead of time and buyers. This is for you to when you inspect a house when you go out and look at a house to decide whether you want to buy it, if you see some of these issues go ahead and get the negotiations out up front on that contract on, he's going to take care of that. Because underwriters typically will require these structural things to be done before closing now. Cosmetic things like you know, carpet needs to be cleaned are dingy pain or. Something like that usually, those are not issues, but the structural things are. That's right. Joe? And, you know, sometimes you'll of well, I can't tell you how many times that I've been delayed will set up the appointment for the appraisal and they'll say, well can you a hold off on it because, you know, we're having we just got the home inspection. And now we're trying to negotiate of all the other all the things that came up as a result of the home inspection. So the home inspections the oh, the, the real estate agents don't want to waste money. And if the there's something in the home inspection, that may break the deal they want, they don't want to do the appraisal until they get all that fixed up. So, you know, amd delayed a lotta times by stone home inspection. So of you know, if you delay the appraisal, you delay the closing. All right now, another thing and I know we're getting ready to go to break, but another thing that I'd like to ask you, Tom. First of all, let me say there is a firewall between the appraiser and the mortgage company. The government has got lines, if you're getting a standard mortgage, then the mortgage company has to call government approved third party agency appraisal ordering company. It we order, the appraisal through them, they kind spend the doll and they pick the appraiser. So you can't pick the price or I can't pick the appraiser. But a lot of people when they're start to shop for a house. They want to take a shortcut, they instead of using a realtor, which has strongly, suggest you do. They're going to look at Shelby county assessor side or Zillow or some other type of internet company to try to determine value. Tell me, I know that those aren't accurate. We know that from the mortgage office, they're not detailed accurate talk about those first of all this go into the Shelby county assessor, and there's some great people there, but the assessor only value of has rea-. Assessment every four years. I think we're into the second or third year so that assessment is based on information from, maybe three to four years. Right. So that is not a very good of, of indication of current value. Now you know, I looked at my assessment the last time it was assessed. I said they nailed it. They got it right on the buddy. Exactly what I thought it was worth. So, you know, sometimes there, there can be mistaken, but, you know, they, they do a good.

And I know that, you know, the place of history and, you know, how this story is ultimately going to be written Vattel shape up here over the next couple of weeks if he's able to orchestrate a championship run here and lead this team in this city to the top of the NBA mountain that'll be nothing short of remarkable. It'll be probably one of the greatest single season runs from one player that we've seen in the last maybe quarter century, that's how good it will be even when the Bron James finally got Cleveland over the hawk. And delivered them that elusive championship. You know he had some help bright. He had Kyrie Irving. He had Kevin love, and he's also part of a team that, you know what had been to the NBA finals before. They were knocking on the door. But just couldn't quite break. It down Toronto on the other hand. They never tasted this they never made it this far. But can you imagine if not only the rebel to win four more games and win that championship? Think of who they're doing it against their doing it against the modern day dynasty, a Golden State Warriors team, which is now in their fifth consecutive trip to the NBA finals. And a lot of what's going to hinge here over the next couple of weeks. Certainly is going to depend on the health of Kevin darn Kevin Durant. And what happens with him? And I for one. Let me just throw it out here. Can the warriors win a championship about? K D. Yes. I think they can they've proven that are the better basketball team without Kevin Durant. "But it's interesting because last year he was one of the most polarizing figures in the draft and this year we're talking about Murray and had and locking Jones one of the most polarizing figures again is Josh Rosen later not much change. You're talking about the Redskins and say the dolphins are ever. It may be you have to figure like Rosen better than lock and Jones and Haskins. How do we feel bad Rosen against those three? So how so how does Rosen compare to the guys this year with the grades that you gave him compared to these guys in this quarterback migrate last year on rose slightly better than any of the quarterbacks in this class. I mean, very slightly ninety two compared to a ninety one never Cuyler Murray. And then I have a ninety on on the other two guys. Yeah. He was one of the big three. I mean, we at different stages. I do that top twenty five big board starting. In August updated every two weeks during the year and Josh Allen Josh Rosen. Sam darnold were flip-flopping the three were kind of mixing and matching and moving around. But they were always very highly rated and that group and Baker Mayfield jumped in their late after you had that phenomenal year. So you had four quarterbacks all jumping around that top spot. So Josh Rosen would have had if you go to his great this hired any of these quarterbacks. And I think a lot of people now things didn't like Josh rose. No, we know that some teams in Josh Allens using like Sam darnold something's believe. In Baker Mayfield, the old guard didn't believe in Baker Mayfield. So they were all over the place last year. You can always find teams that do not like a quarterback course every year you can find that Peyton Manning. I had a team Telekom. That's story. It's a true story made up that they said if his name was Peyton Jones not Peyton Manning could be a third round draft choice limitation. I went into my notes every year you make notes from the GM. Right. Hey, coaches and personnel directors these. And I went back into my notes on Josh Rosen last year some prominent people in this league, right? One guy said wouldn't want him on my team. V six round draft pick up best nother guy on another successful team. Wouldn't want him basically as the CEO of my team used a profane term to describe Josh Rosen that begins of the D. No. And don't want a D as the CEO of my team. And I mean, it was unbelievable. There's also concerns about you know, frail body set some injuries. And is he three or four years his career gonna say, you know, what I'm gonna become a venture capitalist? Love the gun. You know, so their stuff there. There's no question about him. But yet you have a higher grade on him and the guys in this year's quarterback less those. Keep in mind with Rosen. And it was guys we had seen a member they could've come at the year before number darnold all those guys. We had seen a lot more of. And last in last year was set that those guys a star. They lost a lot of talent. Darnold losses. Vattel everett. Josh Allen loss. Everybody is center pi Dan wide receiver and running. Back wyoming. Come on got plan. I will you knew he would have some struggles. And then you think about Rosen but this year Haskins back in August. We know even if he'd being the draft you never started holler Murray wasn't even on the board. Okay. So all of a sudden the quarterbacks now, you're saying how does Rosen Rosen had a larger body of work than Haskins and Rosendo, and let's be honest. The dude is smart Rosen, and he will absolutely dicey work. If you give them time, he just doesn't fit what the new era Zona team wants to do with cliff kings Murray is the offensive coordinators the head coach and OC. But if you were on a pro style system put him under center can protect him. Work play action. He he's can be very very successful..
Brexit uncertainty leaves UK businesses to question the future
"Start with Brexit, shall we had. What do you think the markets are making of the latest to and fro ings between London Umbro cels while it's really really hard for me. His markets to make much of a tool because as you say there is so much back and forth. It's really hard to know. What's going to happen next? We've already seen a lot of Tennessee in the pound in the past. But part of the problem is as a lot happening in the short time as you say, we got Vattel these votes last week. I may at the speaker at the start at this week intimating state reach may can deal to to parliament for time. If it was basically the same. Now, we hear that she's off to Brussels for the EU summit, and there was uncertainty about what the extension would look like when are getting impression that it'd be assured extension. So also going on in the short time. But really, no time clarity's. So one of the things we have seen is that the pound has come off its lows right from the beginning of the year because traders are basically starting to rule out a no dope. Like set they're assuming that there will be an extension. The more looks like they'll be a long extension behind the pound goes. But the problem traders have of course, is that while they can try and price out an age breaks, it the risks that still hasn't gone away yet as little stands the case still leaving without a deal in nine days time. So it's really hard for any traded to be sure about what they should do net certainty. Obviously is what investors crave. Although for the last what is it? Now coming up on three years, we've been preparing in this country for preparing for the worst. Although hoping for the best. Although as you say, it does appear as if the prospect of a no deal is is fading and has faded significantly. So could it be argued that it's all it's all up from here. I would say it's a bit too optimistic. Today's all up from her because if you're a trade economy make too big a decision assure about something subsitute need the risk of a new job aids is definitely fading. And you're signed to see that born into the price. And so the pound has already lifted quite a little bit. But it's more about what happens next if you've already pice in a NATO base. It went Hyperion. You've already priced in. Then extension will happen. But was still a middle this uncertainty. It's called to see how much higher the pound Congo and less. There's something really really definitive that happens quite

It could be a very smart move from Renos point of view, but then was not gone there. Just to keep them happy. He's gone sporting means he wants it to be the front of eventually, and they do need to start showing that they can get before we get to some predictions for this weekend in the season there a couple of Dr appearance I want to run through because they really important for this year and principal amongst them is Lewis Hamilton teammate Veltri bought asphalt has on the last year of essentially a one year deal. One yield deal with an option on Mercedes aside, which is a one year deal other than that, this is a crucial. Of bought has not simply because of the contractual situation because literally in the garage next to him. Most of the year will be the guy who is surely destined to replace him Esteban O'Connor funded without a saved. We'll bought ask ABC. Let's keep it that simple Lawrence probably is gonna penned on on start to the season. You think when negotiations starts around in summer going to Tom little bit before maybe? So he needs to nail these first few races. If he can do and he can either be with Lewis or even a head of Louis which to lash, and I will raise possible it one in back. I believe you would have been the head of head of Louis jump ship. So so they can do that. Then then he puts himself in a very very strong position. The other thing is is the boaters actually, especially from cities wobbly year is actually really we're going to have ten degrees. Very good. And also, he keeps everything nice and steady imagine conga in and actually kind of thrown his way around bit seeing this. His one big chance to make a difference after what happened to him when he had zero out. And I think that could be potentially dangerous from Sadie say there's a lot more play than an is. Also, the fact that often going up against Louis is no guarantee that he's going to match him or even come close. So I think they're so transporter skit leaving the case is out the Indian no matter what. So he gets season, right? Then he's there if if he doesn't then it's gonna be a hard one from Sadi's shrew. Say well, we got an underperforming driver. And this guy on in in our reserves yet. We're not going to switch over say for Bossi's thirty races. Absolution I kind of like an it to the fleet master situation at Ferrari where you were certain each year last year vote for him. But it's going to end now, and it just didn't carry on carry. But you knew it was until Friday. We're happy with the replacement and then eventually get get kidney in there. And he's gone. So think -sorts says if the team aren't convinced O'Connor JR. The smartest thing to pair with Lewis. Maybe then they weren't happen. Foundries delivery. Nettie can stay. But the fact that he's only got one year deals each time just says that faith long-term isn't there that he's not the guy that they see this is what we're going to build around for the next few years. Ferrari's a beautiful parallel to UC because that is the second fascinating driver equation. We've got Sebastian veteran versus Charlotte Klay. Finally, they reneged on Kimmy racket giving him enrolling onto you do. Because. There were finally happy with the guy who could replace him after on these single season at samba. This been a lot of I suppose down talking of Sebastian vital after he's last season because there was a litany of driving mistakes that in many respects, he lost himself the driver's world championship. Are we getting ahead of ourselves to say that leclair's going to properly challenge Sebastian Vattel, or is this going to be a really fierce fide? It's a really tricky because I feel a bit flirt because there's so much expectation on him already one year in Formula one one year experience he's gonna go into Ferrari, which now looks.
"vattel" Discussed on Opening Arguments
"If you're just talking about the equal protection clause the argument that. Discrimination against trans men and women should fall under. At least intermediate scrutiny is really really strong. It comes from a case called Glenn versus Brumby, which is an eleventh circuit decision. So again, you have these decisions at the at the circuit court level. But you don't have them coming from the supreme court, right? So the supreme court is free to write on a blank slate. But but here's what what Glenn versus Brumby says, right? They start with all of the discrimination on the basis of sex decisions. Right. And the two kind of most famous ones really are a case called Mississippi university for women versus HOGAN nineteen eighty-two case, and then a subsequent decision US versus Virginia regarding the Virginia Military institute and both of those cases were about admitting members of the opposite sex too. To those educational institutions. Right. So the Mississippi university for women, obviously, did not admit men and the supreme court said, yeah, you've got to admit men VM. I the Virginia Military institute did not admit women. And the supreme court said, no, you've got to admit women, and in in both cases, they quoted from from the same language, which was then quoted again in the Glenn versus frumpy decision. State actors to include the US controlling the gates to opportunity we have instructed may not exclude qualified individuals based on fixed. Notions concerning the roles and abilities of males and females. Right. So think about that in VM, right? Like the via VMI argument was hey, this is a rough military academy. And we just keep out those, you know, precious Little Women because they couldn't pass our rigorous physical entrance exams anyway. And the supreme. Court said. Yeah, that's not good enough. Right. Yeah. You want you want to administer physical tests. Great. But let women take the test. Right. Don't you cannot use broad-based views of what women are like to exclude them from those opportunities. And that is precisely what the eleventh circuit seized upon in the Glenn versus Brumby case. Right. They said look. As those cases continued to develop that there was a subsequent supreme court decision Price Waterhouse versus Hopkins from nineteen Eighty-nine that made it explicitly clear that discrimination on the basis of gender stereotyping is sex based discrimination. Right. And so they put all of that together and said look. It. It doesn't matter. How you look at it. And the and the court you could see this is the eleventh circuit a conservative circuit, by the way. This was a unanimous three oh panel that was joined by William Pryor, one of Donald Trump's potential nominees to the supreme court. Right. And in fact, one of one of the most the the the guy that I said was a dark horse candidate. If you really wanted to trigger the libs someone who has a long and outspoken history of saying hateful things about LGBTQ, people, nevertheless did not descend from this opinion because it's super clear. Right. So as a result of that. And as a result, I think of of this clear application all of these courts at the district court level enjoined the trans ban policy, and as as you know, Thomas right, the fundamental question when you're talking about issuing. A preliminary injunction, right? You've got the other standards is likelihood of success on the merits, right? And the court said, yeah. Now, we think the plaintiffs are going to have no trouble proving likelihood of success on the merits, in fact. And now I'm going to quote from from stone again, this was the Maryland case. But, but they were all pretty similar that that the stone decision said moreover, this court finds that based on the exhibits and declarations currently on the record the directives that is Trump's tweet and executive order are unlikely to survive even a rational basis review, the lack of any justification for the abrupt policy change combined with discriminatory discriminatory impact to group of our military, service members who have served our country capably and honorably cannot possibly constitute a legitimate government interest. So that story that should settle it. It should. And so what the Trump administration did was said. Okay. Well, then we're gonna go back to the drawing board. And I am going to instruct Jim Mattis to conduct an internal study. And and and come up with a new policy that survives rational basis review. And then well Vattel will was that Mattis wasn't necessarily that bad on this issue. Like, I thought he would do I miss remembering your miss remember?.

Like, it says, I think is very much the chance for him to come back if the circus right because he left over his own accord, if he wanted to he'd still be on the great this year, the only the were against him is that is that the modern equivalent of saying on the leave McLaren because I'm sure for in the way into competitive call because there's going to be they're only going to be more.
