It had already been postponed and now it has been canceled in what has been the reaction there and can anything be done about well. We're not gonna probably ever have anything like this in the future but really curious about your thoughts. Yeah a lot of fury. A lotta anger at georgie. No i it's twofold one georgia's playing great football. Jt daniels i mean before jt. They convert forty two percent of the third downs with jt. They convert sixty six right. Jt daniel six touchdown passes on on third down throws three incompletions. I mean the guys night and day. It's been amazing. Some people maybe. It's the schedule actually know if you look at the third down defense is the last. Three teams actually ranked better than the first six on average. What georgia's played. This guy has made all the difference in the world. It makes a difference in recruiting. Suddenly you have players. That are migrating to georgia that. Want to be a part of the georgia offense again so this transformation is happening in the shadows. Now that's georgia's fault. They didn't take care of business when they needed to jacksonville or in tuscaloosa and so they're sitting out this week so you don't get to see it but it's been happening on saturdays in athens and this georgia outgoing class. All these guys had an opportunity to be the winningest class in georgia football history. That's quite a legacy. Covid nineteen is not controllable but in the case of vanderbilt its players that are quitting the team and in the case of vanderbilt they cancelled on december fifth rally the troops for their senior day on december twelve and then canceled on georgia again. So there's a lot of of anger and frustration and disappointment and all george can do now is hope that they get a good bowl draw. I think they need notre dame to upset clemson. I think if that happens. And if chalk holds and ohio state beat the bad northwestern and alabama roles florida. Wild day in in sports in general, and also in the Mac. How about Buffalo? The Bulls 70 to 41 winners at home over the Kent State golden flashes. And in that game, Jared Patterson Rushed 36 times for 409 yards. That's 11.4 yards average and eight touchdowns and that ties a major college record eight touchdowns with long gain of 62. Jared Patterson. Wow. What a performance today for the Buffalo Bulls. And then Vanderbilt's Sarah Fuller. Wow. You talk about making some some news. Unbelievable. She makes power five College football history. Kicking off for the Vanderbilt Commodores in the second half and She becomes The first woman football player. In power, five conference history and Just one of only three women to play in an FBS game, joining Katie. Night off. H and idea of New Mexico and April Gauss of Can state Wow, Sarah Fuller. Sarah said after the game. Honestly, it's just so exciting. Even though we're team lost the Missouri 41 to nothing. The fact that I can represent all the girls out there that have wanted to do this or thought about playing football or any sport, really. Intern encourages them to be able to step out and do something big like this. It's awesome. And then she says, all I want to do Is be a good influence to the young girls out there because there were times I struggled in sports, but I'm so thankful that I stuck with it, and it's given me so many opportunities. And I've met so many amazing people through sports. And I just want to say that literally you could do anything you set your mind to Congratulations to Sarah Fuller, who is Vanderbilt's goalkeeper on the Southeastern Conference champion women's soccer team for the Commodores. And because of covert 19. Issues with the special teams. Vandy needed a kicker. So the coach is called Sarah. And head or try out. She kicked well, and she kicked off in the second half today in Vanderbilt's 41 that nothing lost to the Missouri Tigers. So Jared Patterson, a Buffalo Vanderbilt, Sarah Fuller, The Detroit Lions making history today, just a few days after their loss on Thanksgiving Day to the Houston Texans, the Lions fire head coach Matt Patricia. Right off of Bill Bella Chicks coaching tree from a New England Alliance, the lion's part ways with head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn, and now speculation is going to intensify. That Eric be enemy. Highly deserving of a head coaching job in the National Football League. He is the offensive coordinator. The Kansas City Chiefs, the world champion Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Eric the enemy. Has to get an NFL head coaching job. Could it be in Detroit when the season ends? Or could it be with the Houston Texans? Their job is also open. Both teams now working with interim head coaches. Like we've mentioned a couple times today. Already, Penn State gets its first win of the season at the expense of the Michigan Wolverines. 27 17. And Hi, hiding the heightening the speculation about the future of Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the Wolverines. He's got one year left on his contract, which is highly unusual. She makes over $8 million a year. You can't have a head coach become a lame duck. You either get rid of him after this season or you Extend him. So it's going to be interesting to see what happens in the future of Jim Harbaugh all In college football at the University of Michigan. And could he stay in Ann Arbor? Or will he get axed? And could he move on? Could you come back to the National Football League? It's so it's going to be interesting to find out and ESPN national is mentioning. University of Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell is a possible replacement. For Jim Harbaugh in Michigan. And like I mentioned a Tony hunter or guest at seven o'clock tonight. Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly. He just blasted U. S. A today reporter Paul Meyer Berg for not mentioning fighting Irish quarterback Ian Book among the top 10 quarterbacks. In college football. Kelly did what any coach probably would in that a stick up for his guy. I think he and book is a terrific player and I think we're going to see him on Sundays in the National Football League. Engineering. The fighting Irish Offense in the number two ranked team in the nation. Hand off. They stay clean the rest of the way. They're headed to the college football playoff Final four. No doubt. Now, here's the situation facing the Ohio State Buckeyes, and we'll get to that after we take a break. I've got my coffee. I've got my computer..

They travel to Missouri and she could be kicking for the Vanderbilt Commodores. I really hope the NC double a does the right thing here and we don't even know if it would be a hold up or anything like that. But given this is such a screw a year and you know, wanting to play by the rules of while you weren't this sports, you weren't in this sport. You're not eligible all those things. I hope that if there are any eligibility concerns that Go away very quickly and not ruin. What could be a really cool moment. "At Peter burns ESPN will be joined by a head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores head football coach Derek Mason in Nashville Tennessee in a couple of minutes also Nate Boyer former NFL player former green beret going to join us remember he was really one of the catalysts behind the Colin Kapernick discussion about kneeling back in twenty sixteen and what it meant for social inequality would nobody better to really talk about that then with Nate Boyer and he'll join us at nine thirty eastern for about forty minutes away but we just had Booker McFarland on the show Katie and you know we we talked about this that that wasn't necessarily an onus on white athletes to speak out however a lot of them have in its just athletes in general and I will say this I I do want to commend the the young men and women that have done that and because that's not it that's it it's not an easy thing to do whatsoever to speak about an uncomfortable topic and I and maybe I'm a coward and I'll say it this this way is that I've had more Frank conversations about race and inequality in my personal life in my circles and I don't know if I'd had those conversations if I didn't see other younger players speak out role models guys that I guys that I follow for a living Joe burrow Trevor Lawrence Carson Wentz you know Jaylen brown of the Celtics are fifteen hours yesterday down to Atlanta where his hometown of el Marietta Georgia he says this is a conversation I want to have and I'm not sure if I'd be so happy to listen and I met me that says something about me but I am definitely more after listening to try to understand more than ever before ever in my life and I think it's the sports leaders that are or help leading that way right I mean like that like think about the pandemic when it happened we did we really start taking this pandemic in the corona virus and being safe and flattening the curve really wasn't until an NBA player had tested positive right Rudy go bare test positive all of a sudden the world was like do the NBA to shut down like this is this is not just some like little hopes this is not some this is the thing this is a worldwide thing it was an NBA player that helped us understand that and I do for the longest time we're always told well Hey listen you don't need to be a role model right like that you know if your sports figure don't get involved in this but now that we are seeing it now that we've progressed farther from twenty sixteen to twenty twenty I think it is important because I know with this it's changed my life it's changed the way that I'm more willing to listen and willing to try to understand I always think that I thought I was listening but I probably really was I think I was I I think personally Katie sorry this is therapy that you're thank you for listening mornings are far that is undergoing therapy but I think part of it is I always knew it was an issue and go okay it didn't now when I see the courage of all athletes and even WBA put out something and the schools or NFL these college coaches are putting up something white pocketed matter it was a human thing in in in this is not a white or black thing it's it's a it's a sports fan thing it's a human thing it's a mom thing it's a dad thing it's a it's it's it's it's a personal thing it's a human thing that we're trying to figure out here and I do think sports plays a major role in that and I'm glad that we have athletes at least bringing this up to the forefront and it's not just black athletes as white and black athletes it's it's it's everyone right because sports changes perspectives right you look up to athletes you follow their lives you want to know every part of what they're doing how they're training when you're an avid fan and you support them and you love them and you watch them on a day to day basis and when somebody you love and support and admire takes a stand on something as simple as human rights you're gonna listen and I think you're going to feel something and so seeing all these different athletes take to social media go to protests and stand with others who are in pain is very powerful and yes sports can change perspectives and leaks can take stances and make a difference in so many communities where they have teams located and I think you're seeing that I mean the fact that Jaylen brown drove from Boston fifteen hours to his hometown of Atlanta to participate in that protest he could have protested in Boston right now his backyard where he lives currently but he said it was important for me to go back to my roots down to Atlanta my hometown where I grew up where I was affected and be a part of those protests to end that's powerful to see something on there's a tweet though and I just can't get out of my mind I saw it last night and I immediately sent it to a bunch of people that I known I'm friends with my family and it's from say Jones at wide receiver for the Las Vegas raiders he said I was just at a local home good store with my cousin getting furniture for my place when an elderly white woman approached me at the checkout counter she looked at me with tears in our eyes and then said I'm from Minneapolis and I just want you to know you matter to me he then goes on to tweet I hesitated to hunger because she's wearing a master's elderly you know social distancing but I asked her if I could hug her and she fell into my arms and cried and he said I think her name but I'm grateful for the encounter beautiful hearts still exists be the example be the light and love others and I just I don't know that that all of the stuff that I've seen over the last few days as terrible some of it is banned as wonderful as some of its been this is probably the best anecdote that is warmed my heart in a really negative and sad situation that is going on around us so I just love that store and I'm glad to say Jones took to Twitter to tell and you know you shared that it spoke to you and there is one reason why too it made it into your timeline is because he's an athlete it was a person that had some type of influence and we need more of that sports has always looked at as the distraction to get us away from thing but now it can be your reaction how we can kinda he'll get back to a little bit normal that's why I want sports to return so we get back to all promoting one thing coach Derek Mason But they earn it knows a dominant win last night. I was watching the game. I was excited to watch it. I was pulling for the wolverines because I wanted to give you a hard time this morning. But man Vanderbilt came out firing, and got a big win. Nice nice win by them. It was such an emotional victory for me. You know as the moments one out just to clinging to my lucky Vanderbilt hat. No. That's not what happened. Here's exactly what happened. My flight to London on Wednesday evening scheduled to leave at seven PM, and so you figure because it's the twenty first century you're going to get on a plane and you probably going to be able to watch the game. And you probab-. Ably. If you can't watch the game you certainly gonna follow it on the internet. So get on the plane, no television, no WI fi service. So couldn't follow the game in any form or fashion and land in London. And they tell you don't turn on your phone intil after the plane actually gets to gate turn on my phone, and I got all these text messages thanking -gratulations. That's how I found out about. It was a little anti-climactic, but still pretty cool slightly. Yeah. It's too bad. You weren't on the team planes that the Red Sox and Yankees had seen some video from that. And boy, it looks like they're flying in a mansion just incredible incredible services that they have there, but you not so much third class, citizen BUSTER..

"There would be one guy, if he saw lightning strike, you know, all the way to Iowa City, we'd have a thirty minute delay. There was another guy that he, he didn't see him. He could keep playing. So. I hope that guy is the guy tonight. So right now is we under not to turn you into Jim cantore? But are we under a lightning strike out there? We are. But as for the time I came in here, sat down about fifty minutes ago that, that time should have expired, which by the way, I was just telling these guys, I have been here before the front of the first year. This ballpark was the scariest looking storm from I've ever seen role in, of course, the Nebraskan they don't care. That's just like whatever Wednesday for them, but it was bad enough that we could see Jim cantore, a satellite truck like across the parking lot. So I'm is kind of bad. If Kantor is here. Yeah, no, that's not you don't ever want to be at the same place. He is. Unless it's the. Just the beach during the off season. I don't queue by the way. Yeah. Right. On Cuba away. I didn't see it. But there was a flash over my shoulder and everybody behind the camera here freaked out the rain hairs almost passed out. So apparently, we'll be in another that might help or. Indies. Disposition. Let me ask you this, what happened last night, and streaming lightning flash moves on what will the state of mind be in ninety minutes of the Vanderbilt Commodores. Well, it's interesting because I mean, listen, if you have watched Michigan throughout this run, and it all goes all the way back to when they were in the big ten tournament in this building a month ago. This is just kind of how they play and they're not scared, and they're very aggressive. And this is a team that, you know, went to Corvallis and one number one team in the country is out there they or defending national champion. They go to Westwood and defeat UCLA. And then they come here and they just play like they own the place. And so, you know, if you're Vanderbilt, it's how do you react to that because it's very easy in game two to tighten up. You mentioned that my worst selling book about college World Series road. Omaha wrote that book in two thousand eight and Tim corporate just referenced we heard about Fresno state winning that championship Georgia had that tourney. Int- won that game was put away in game two and they somehow out a way to lose. And the way they lost the game with a multiple run lead midway through the second game was got tight. They just could not handle the moment. And so the question is, is Vanderbilt going to have the right mindset? And listen, this is an extension of coach Corbin. He's always right here all the time, anyway. And I feel like these guys are going to be like that, too. Even if Michigan scores, I ending, which by the way I've done every game since I got out here. Yeah. And of course, it happened last year to Arkansas was about to celebrate and they still haven't started popping the champagne. And so the coaches at Michigan were telling me they made the same mistake in the regional they should put that thing away a night before they did. But they started celebrating in the dugout and they learned their listening. And now, you know, keep it small he keeps saying make everything a little smaller than it is. And where did he learn that he learned in Nashville on the bench with Tim Corbin? So there's two I wanted to ask you about that, because that is I mean, I know it's when you're out there, you hear the story and you see both of these gentlemen. But a lot of people watching, or listening may not know the backstory, so is this. We have one of the great storytellers in journalism here. Give us the skinny on, on these gentlemen. I mean they sounds like they are as close, as you can be there, so close that on Sunday morning when they came in for the coaches press conference and they had to pose. Goes with the trophy, it was like super awkward, because there were like, how are we willing to how to stay in because they post so many pictures with their families? I mean, their kids have grown up together. These two guys met as the Sistan coaches at Clemson, we asked the question. Do you remember the first time like, yeah, I think it was two thousand two and there in the parking.

"Eight five five two four two seven two eight five. I'd like to get the phones here guys, but I can't see the list your anthem move that little four thing. There we go. So we are taking calls rising falling in the SEC parameters. Of course, where we look at the last three years, and we'll the next three years, be better or worse. We've made four teams rising. They are Florida Texas, am Arkansas and Kentucky. And we have four teams falling Alabama. LSU South Carolina, Missouri. And in the case of Alabama, it's just because they've been so good last three years. And the reason Arkansas is rising is just because they've been so bad in the last three years, let's do another one for I get the phones. What's going to happen with the Vanderbilt Commodores, last three years six and seven five and seven six and seven. I can't see them rising. So I have to go falling. I'm with you. Somebody. Like I think I think they are a perpetual five and seventeen. I think they've been at their ceiling, but I think they've hit, I agree with agree toes? I'm gonna say falling because they're going to have a year where they only win three and when they do they won't be able to offset it by having a year where they went seven plus vani plays a decent non conference. Schedule a lot of years, and they can lose those games. Like didn't they play Notre Dame last year? I think. Tough game eventually think Tennessee, you'll get lucky and still one. Yeah. Tennessee has you gotta think once in the next three years. Maybe they finally get vanity. Yeah. I mean, the ball get crazy for them to beat vanity but ball bounce that way at least once. So we go falling. Yes. All right. Let's go to the west Auber. Eight and five ten and four eight and five. I don't know. Going rising. They're going to have a year where that in the next three years, they'll have ten and three year. I mean Kentucky just had a in three year. But you tell me all not going to have one you convince me saying, Kentucky at attendant three year because I just went ten and thirty. Excellent. Excellent point. I, we'll go rising. I feel like auburn's gonna get one. I mean it's crazy. To think all burn football has averaged five losses a year. The last three years 'cause that if you had asked me, what has auburn's record been last three years. And I didn't look it up. I would have thought they probably lost three to four games a year. I would've never thought it was five. So I feel like they'll get up to that next level. And it'll be like four three two four instead of four to five and when I picked Alabama as falling I have Auburn winning one there, too. So I'll go you think Auburn beats Alabama once in the next three years robberies too big. I think I don't Auburn this year. What is the gap between Auburn? And Alabama now has it been is this. The biggest the gap has been in the last ten years. Yeah, the gaps big just those revelry games happen. But wouldn't you say this is the biggest the gap has been? Yes, I think so because five years ago, it felt like they were one in one a and now they're not one at. So this is probably the biggest the gap..

"One seed in the tournament tomorrow night for all of it. And I off set the scene of what it's like at this level at you never made it to a championship game ever made it to a final four, but you did play in the Sweet Sixteen with Vanderbilt Commodores when you were one of the best three point shooting shooting guards in the country bar. None set the scene for me. What is it like as a player in that environment? When you're the tragedy. These kids are having so much fun. Three weeks basketball for sure, but but certainly there's a lot of pressure that goes along with it in terms of plane in front of the big crowds. You know, forty fifty. I believe in the final four it's almost like seventy thousand people. So learn how to grow up in learn how to grow very quickly in that type of environment. But this is a really interesting game ever really just like a scenario where defense really does win championships. You're gonna have that in this matchup between Virginia and Texas Tech because either just to outstanding defensive teams right in. And as I mentioned, I sadly misspoke about about Michigan state port Tom Izzo. I don't feel bad for middle. But anyway, Texas Tech Virginia now at Vanderbilt you played in memorial gym your home games in memorial gym. And that's a crowd of how many like sixteen thousand something like that. Yes. Reconfigured over the years back there in the late eighty about seventeen. Yes. So what is the difference? Between playing an arena like that. And playing in an arena that as you mentioned might have seventy thousand fans, what is the difference in perspective as a shooter as a player being in this big cavernous place. I mean, does it change your trajectory is change your mentality of of how you shoot how you approach the game. It really does the largest crowd facility that Arbor played. It was in this league sits back towards that. They wanted in nineteen eighty eight when they hit Danny Manning. But that year we played in the Silverdome of Pontiac Michigan. And there was a good fifty thousand people in the in that big Coliseum there and debt perception is just different. You know, you just kind of never get a feel like you're in some type of close proximity where where the lighting is good. So it is definitely a different environment. When you're shooting in that big of. Facility and Scott was the consummate three point field goal shooter. I watched him in college. When I lived in Nashville Tennessee for many years and watched as he progressed through his career. But yeah, I can't imagine the difference between being arena that's built for basketball. And it's and you say sixteen seventeen thousand it is much more. How shall I say it's much more intimate than playing in front of fifty or sixty or seventy thousand people at depth perception of the hoops, and and all the rest of that. Who was the player that you played against? That was probably the best pick a top five when you played college basketball. Who were the players you played against that? You felt were just out lights crate well fairly at the very beginning of that list. Very top of that list would be nail out of LSU. He was a tremendous player, obviously loaded back, then they hit seculow nail. They had Stanley Roberts. Had Chris Jackson all the one team under Dale Brown. Glen Rice played Michigan back during that stage. He was tremendous. Obviously, I just mentioned before dating banning all the great players out of Kentucky Jamal Mashburn. Rex Chapman list goes on and on when you're playing in the south east. Out every other team had at least one team Tennessee with Alan Houston delivered goes on and on. And it's kind of one of those situations where to play every single night, you're gonna get embarrassed. What was your favorite moment of playing the NCAA tournament? It was was just suiting up and and going on the court was there was a particularly great moment. You remember as a player for the Vanderbilt Commodores playing in the championship tournament March madness. Fairly would've been like I said before going to the teen in. But we upset Pittsburgh during that run and berry go he hit a last second shot into overtime. They hit a really good player in Jerome lane. And in fact, Sean Miller. Later on. Great coach at Arizona guard on that team. But we really didn't have any right to to be Pittsburgh during that thirty two round that up and we just came out of nowhere headed nine rhinos able to win two games that year. Well, you mentioned the LSU teams when she kill Neil Stanley Robertson. Chris jackson. They never won a national championship. And and the national baby even when southeastern conference championship right back door in that era. Alabama was actually the team to beat and they had players by the name of Robert ory, Latrell Sprewell 'Antonio mcdyess. They really hit it rolling. Derek mckee? The list goes on they really hit it really back, then underwent Sanderson. I'm not sure that Alabama Basle has ever recovered once website or longer out the hill. Well, let me ask you this. And I would talked about the assemblage of LSU and the great players. She kilo Neil mentioned as one of the fifty greatest players of the NBA's verse fifty years and Chris Jackson just just an incredible point guard and shooting guard and Stanley Roberts who was just a behemoth of a man. What is the difference? What do you think is the equation airy difference between great players and great teams at this time of the year because it's not always the best players through the season. It's not always the premier players who win national championships. What's the secret? What's the magic ingredient? Could know that for sure they would bottle it up and bring it out when a matters. But for some reason, it's that are able to gel and to peak at the right time that is typically not always. But typically teams in player that played together for multiple years in the one and done fad. Heavily doesn't particularly in with national championships. Those teams are great great divert talented,.

"That's that's a big presence in the middle of your defensive line that you don't just replace very easily. So I I think they're going to be pretty good next year. Now, here's here's the problem their schedules. Always brutal. And they they still play in the west. You know, we think auburn's you better. Although Auburn has to go to them, but they've got to go to LSU gotta go to Tuscaloosa, Florida. We think is going to be a little bit better. And they were pretty good this year and they're coming to Baton Rouge. So it's gonna be tough. But it's always going to be tough shirl issue. I go to Texas. Right. Jackson week Texas is week to. Yeah. And decay. Yeah. Yes. So I mean, listen they. They've they've got what they need. Now to be a very good team. I don't know if they have the roster to beat Alabama yet. I'm not sure if they're there yet. But it feels like they're getting closer. I think that's reasonable. I still want the Joe borough thing. Like, I feel like he is probably the best okay quarterback in the country. And I just want a little bit more because there's so much speed. And there's usually so much talent you may get a little bit more because remember Joe borough true. Joe borough have spring practice last year in Columbus. So you know, he's got a full off season this year to really get to know those receivers and he's not getting thrown into this. So I think they're going to be fine. I don't know because of the schedule I'm not sure the records gonna be appreciably different. Right. But you know. That'll be the thing. They'll be pressure on ores Ron in at some point. If they don't take that next step of winning that game. They're not necessarily supposed to win. And that would be the Alabama game. Probably. So the they've got a breakthrough at some point. But then that's sort of the the ballot of everybody in the SEC west. Eventually you have to break through and beat Alabama. And of those teams only auburn's been able to do it. We're also talking about an LSU team that was like an eleven hour game away from being ten into exactly we should not downplay that either because remember this is the team that people were saying, oh, they're going to be five and seven and ORs. Ron's gonna get fired. No, no one's doing a good. Yeah. For sure that is a good program. There are in the right direction. They just now need to begin competing for SEC national titles, which is the hardest. Step to take so good luck with that. Okay. Good luck. Give me a number between one and fourteen that you haven't yet eight who. Eight we're going. This is the earliest anybody will ever talk about the Vanderbilt Commodores, and I I think that's wonderful because the doors they kind of quietly had it totally fine year. Kyle Shurmur one of the best what five six quarterbacks in the conference Keyshawn von was wrecking ball. And I hey questions like this. I promise you I do. But maybe there's something on the bone is is having and blowing late leads to Kentucky Notre Dame Mizzou. And I think Florida all were like blown leads indicative of anything. Here's the problem. This was your year with the senior quarterback in the I basically fourth year starter. Yeah. So. Now, you're. If you're Alabama or Auburn or LSU or Georgia one of those programs, and you lost a significant amount of leadership or experience. You can still grow on that. The problem is when you're vandy when you're an Arkansas when you're Missouri something like that. You're probably gonna take a step back. Just because the roster could only be as good as that every couple of years. So I'm not sure how much you can build on that. If you've any getting Vaughn back is big. Yes. The dude everage seven point nine yards a carry. And he was he was incredible in that bowl game. So I think that's that's a big deal. They have they have some good pieces. But it it's gonna feel like starting all over again. Because you're you're starting all over gonna quarterback. Yeah. Gotta make it count. Those senior classes in the way that like Kentucky hooky. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. I mean, that's the thing. They they sort of provided the model for how you're supposed to have one of those seasons..

"Baker. Welcome back in to the frozen tundra. Addition of the Don Franklin auto countdown to tip off show as we get you set for the cats return to SEC play as they head south to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. I get every I'm Dave Baker. Welcome back in and wherever you are within the sound of my voice that is unless you're one of those great Kentucky fans who happens to be down in Florida on some tropical island or something. But if you're hearing the confines of the state or any place to the west, I hope you're hunkered in hope. You've got the fire going that you've got the additional heating methods ready to go because I'm Tony it is flat. I don't we'd have to look at records. I guess right. Tim. Maybe you've heard during the course today. I don't remember last time it's been this cold. But just about every school system is shutdown UK has canceled classes for tomorrow. So kids aren't out walking. Back and forth the class. I mean, Rex is a hearty soul. And I mean, he's got the Patagonian tonight. I mean, you know, we're literally supposed to get wind chill temperatures of like, minus twenty below or whatever. But it won't be like that down in Nashville. And after what has been just any way you slice it an unqualified success of a week the caps returned to conference play tonight, as they take on the Commodores now, if you're one of those people that it feels like that this Kentucky team just played Vanderbilt while they did it was like sixteen days ago here at rob. And it was one of those games where you know, vandy was able to jump out, and they were slow it down and kind of junk it up and everything and Kentucky wha-. What was it fifty six forty seven fifty seven forty six something like that? I'll check the stats, and it was it was one of those games they pulled away at the end to win. But now since then could Duckie has really I think played its best basketball of the season. And over the course of the last week they were. Able to get three top twenty five wins as they were able to get a win at Auburn. They were able to get a win at home against Mississippi State, and then of course, Saturday against Kansas. And so now they turn around and they go back on the road in the SEC. At memorial. Gym in Nashville where Kentucky has not won by double digits since two thousand five and they take on Vanderbilt team. And I was talking on K n TV a little while ago. I don't think there's anybody in the conference that needs something good or want something good to happen to them more than do the Commodores. I I mean, they're winless in the conference they they've had everything in the world happened to them they've gotten rolled by people. And then last week and Rex Niagara to talk about it again because rarely do we agree on officiating? But as the old joke goes day was robbed last Thursday night in Nashville as they had Tennessee on the ropes. And of course, Tennessee now getting ready to start the second half, the number one vol's up at South Carolina, forty seven to thirty eight and they were all kinds of fire. Up down there in Colombia tonight because I guess the last time that they beat. A number one team was when Kentucky was number one down there early in cows tenure remember they made that phone call the day of the game to the president and Darrin horn. And the boys beat him that night when they were we're number one, but Tennessee up by nine as they get set to start the second half. But the question for the cats can they continue playing like they've been playing. Can they continue to get better defensively they're getting better each and every trip ostensibly, but Kenny pain was doing the media yesterday? And he said the coaches were still not satisfied with where they were defensively and while they play well in spurts, they needed to do that more and more. So can't Kentucky do that or Ken Vanderbilt badly in need of a win in one of those situations get that stuff, which they call memorial. Magic going again that'll be the question that we will attempt to answer over the next ninety minutes as we get you said four Kentucky and Vanderbilt coming up. We'll of course here from UK head coach John Calipari. We'll talk to the guy. We'll bring the action the voice of the cats Tom Leach, the wildcat hall of Famer, Mike Pratt. Keith Elkins will be in here. He will be updating us on everything that is that is going on in the college basketball world. I don't know whether he's a quick to give us a weather report or not. But if he was we would talk about wind chills or maybe we can track down. Chris Bailey who is. We could good. We we can have Keith do his segment outside up on top of the billboard outside of the station here at the UK sports network world headquarters. And of course, the king is here Rex Chapman out of the pool was pool. Warm this afternoon. Good tepid good. We like good. You don't want it to be too hot. You don't want to be too cold. Or to money. No, you.

"And. Yeah, as far as trustworthiness not that I don't know that that's all say about that. No, man. It's it's fair game. Especially a rival you got like those guys. I mean, I don't know if I soon grant Williams will come back next year his draft stock not too high. But I could see him leaving after junior year. He's got like the he's got like, the Cato Bates the thing going on where it's like, I mean, I could come back next year because I know I'm not going to be a first round pick. But at the same time, I am going to win converts player of the year. I'm going to be a first team all American like my really going to get that much better. If I come back for my senior year, Tennessee, so maybe there's some part of that was like. Fuck it. This is my last game on this court. It Scofield's a senior grant Williams junior. Maybe they're both just like screw it. Let's both gator chomp them and talk shit, and we'll never have to come back to the Gainesville gin. And I respect it. That's cool. That's five anything. Really those two guys can do anything I would defensive I love both of them. So. Exactly they're there to lovable guys in the end of the day. If you are a Florida fan or your tendency fan, it's good for that rivalry to get spark back with something like that. You know, what I mean exactly like they want that to be an actual rivalry Mike white wants that to be a team that they don't like and they don't like to play and that people wanna tune into watch. Because you never know what's going to happen in the Tennessee Florida game. So that's sort of a I don't know it kind of plays into that a little bit too. So we need the drama. We want the drama, and I enjoyed the drama and now we have to get to the real dramatics. And that is our Bagai the week Mark Titus who is your nutbag guy. I want you to go first because you're you're very excited about this before we got we started wearing you. You're you're very very excited to talk about your bag. I so I want you to go. I I wanna make sure we have plenty of time to cover your guy. Please state the flow of yours here. It is. It's Bryce drew in. It's the Vanderbilt Commodores, and you were just talking about you need to team SEC. The matter teams that people wanna talk about. And I mean, I'm gonna call him. Daddy, drew because daddy daddy. Drew's got bags the fucking throw out there. The world and. This is the big story this week. So he gets Scottie Pippen son to go. And I mean, not not to say that you know, Scotty, Pippin son is light in the world up. I think he ends up just being like a three star prospect or whatever, but they talked to Bryce drew there. Owen three in the SEC. They lose a Kentucky. They're doing the post game. And he can't talk about specifically about Scotty Pippin, I guess guide who had been junior. I think he actually has been junior and he gets asked about it. But he's smiling. He's doing the people were bringing up the when they lost Belmont. He was smirking. You know, invades the Bryce drew smirk. He's just like a happy guy because recruiting is going..

"That's Napa know. How will k b? Against the greatest mascot in the world. I tell you what vivo certainly up there in the top five, and you, and I and Emily were just kind of hanging out sitting down in your seats. Just just killing some time before the game. We looked down. There's a ruckus albedo fan. Yeah. I mean, I tell you have some big old horns steer has on it. And I'm telling you it stuck one the photographer. One guy was kneel down with this back to him when he kind of broke out of his little been there and just kind of. Almost gut that guy with his horn. I was just looking at. We were talking about it. And he came pretty close to stabbing him victim in the game that would have been bad. But you know, other move pretty darn quick. When he saw that thing coming in. That's a pretty intimidating character down there. Yeah. That was that was certainly something to see if we just happened to be right there. There's those little metal grates they put that was no match for pivo to. No, no. I think he probably felt like some of his relatives. Did that? Maybe it was time. He said he goes. That beat. Yet. That was one of those things that probably helps set the tone for Texas, and you know, for Georgia. We do talk about the best parts of TD to make it seventeen seventy TD to make it twenty eight fourteen and give Texas credit. Those are the two times when it fell especially seventeenth of art. Maybe the dogs have got the momentum. Now, they were always able to just the very least keep us at arm's length and keep enough distance in the score in a again going back to the end of the first half. We had that opportunity. I thought if we could have gotten points, even if it was three to make it twenty to ten in thinking, I if we come out and score to start this third quarter. Now, then we've got the momentum. But Texas came up with the stops. Yeah. You know? And you even heard me, I think you you looked at me like I was crazy when I said, I. I'm glad we didn't come back and win it because it would've it would've. I think he could have done a little bit more harm because those guys would have gone. Okay. Well, we went through the motions the first half. And we're good enough to do that. Well, you're not good enough to do that. Nobody's really good enough to do that. And you know, you gotta learn from it. So that's what they're going to take from it. There was a little bit of hope right there, and you could feel it. We could feel it all the fans around us. You thought it. But then when Texas came right back out, they started making some big runs right up the middle and that kind of took the sales right down to the ground again. And it really was just not wasn't a night for Georgia. It was certainly a night for Texas and. They never let up and I think that's that. That was certainly to them, and you know, Kirby's had a curvy sets tough losses against Tom Herman. You know, Tom Tom knows how to how to get to those defenses that he's faced when Kirby's been on the other sides to excellent young head coach is definitely a tip of the Kappa KB to Sam etlinger. He is one tough Hombre. I thought he played a great game for tech. He really did. You know, you talk about a tough quarterback. That's one thing that you know, they they do in the big twelve man they got they got some quarterback. Sometimes he just lowered his head and was very hard to bring down broke a lot of tackles his second and third, you know, kind of runs, you know, after he got out of the little jam Eker thing. He would he showed some tacklers and just keep getting yards yards. And that was that was impressive. And I think you gotta give Tom Herbert in Texas. A lot of credit, and he does like to run the football with eligible, obviously, that's not the type of thing. Twenty one carries that you could do week to week in a regular season. But with that month off and obviously until September. Yeah. To recover there. I think that was an extra wrinkle they put into the to the package there at you know, maybe instead of ten twelve carries. He gets twenty one here. Do you have such a core like dad, and that's all George talked about was about we've gotta we've gotta stop these receivers. We've got to be all over them. Well that didn't happen. But when you drop everybody back to cover all of a sudden, you're leaving yourself exposed right there for that quarterback to tuck and run, and that's exactly what he did. And we didn't have an answer for fell numbers. Join us triple eight eighty one dogs that's eight eight eight eight one three two nine four seven are upcoming game. Well, that'll be the season opener next year against the Vanderbilt Commodores up in music city USA that's brought to you by Toyota. Visit your local Toyota dealers today. Toyota, let's go places, and by the way, I like opening up with the SEC fo the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, hopefully wanna know start for the BULLDOGS in it's it's the long off season. But this shorts team's gonna be very hungry to kick off the twenty nineteen campaign. Yeah, they should be. And it's going to be a a little bit longer of A a. off season this year because of how you finished. And that's you know, that's that growing up part that you gotta do the maturing part for football team. It's gotta come from within. And I liked what I did hear from from Jake after the game talking about him himself stepping up and and being more of a leader and challenging some of his teammates to be leaders to because that's what's gonna make the difference. That's really a defining moment when you have some some guys step up, and and really want to be that leader. And Jake is certainly a great one. But we need to find somebody on defense. We need to find somebody else especially teams, and we need to put those guys to the front of the class, and let them lead, by example. But also be that voice of the team. And I think the more you can get that on a daily basis the stronger that leadership group is check our Comcast business scoreboard when we continue on from the Superdome with dog talk postgame driven by BMW on the Georgia BULLDOGS sports network.
