What Will the World Look Like When Crytpo Is Fully Adopted?

"What do you think the world will look like. Once crypto has been adopted. There's there's two sort of visions. I think i don't maybe we can just be honest ourselves. Sometimes i worry about the vision. We have for currency so aware. I started and i have a lot of respect for jeremy in the team at circle. Because back when i was in grad slow boston actually used circle to violate quinlan. So kudos huge you. Jeremy you saved me from my days for buying the clan on craigslist in using fan. So i could do how well yeah. So you obsolete neat stack my my sats. The early days of the coin The i think they're sort of two visions and they're two very different visions the vision. I've always had for bitcoin that i think. Really compelling one is the separation for the first time of money and state. Money has been object of the state since julius caesar stamped his face on a gold coin and i think really the experiment. We're attempting here like the world is no longer defined by physical orders. We live in a very digital world. Anyone could be anyone on. The internet has many different identities many different communities where part of sometimes as our default reality south. Sometimes where donnas you know there are a lot of eggs anonymous individuals citing. We live in this really interesting world that is truly becoming borderless antony. Bitcoin really represents the evolution of money transfer value in that world. But in the same time. I think governments are looking at bitcoin Right now we're living in a world where governments are trying to ban math. They're literally encryption. We done this time and time again. For the last twenty five years since incriptions existed but the advent of central bank digital currencies. In certainly what. We've seen in the asia pacific region in particular the advent of dc p. and Sort of national quote unquote digital currencies. You do have a lot of concerns around the ability for people to have financial privacy. Privacy transactions privacy communications so we have these two very different paths down which we're heading. I don't know if they're gonna coexist. Don't know if it's going to be an ethic collision and i know jeremy also you know than working a lot on uscc which which arguably has replay here. But i think the future of joe currencies in our society is sort of at this. Very interesting impasse. I want bitcoin to exist. Ideally people have the right to privacy that people have the right to sue committee in their transactions. But i think governments certainly do not like that and are advocating now for the antithesis of that which is central bank digital currencies and monetary systems that. Give them complete control the ability to exert financial censorship at every level of society. Driving up tacit. Tiv know early. There's so much there. I i guess i it just as a technologist The to the question of you know. When will this be mainstream or however you wanna call that my view is that you know. Things are mainstream in terms of technology when they disappear when they're invisible people and and when when essentially like people just take take them for granted right and said depending on your age and depending on where you are like. You might take for granted social media. But obviously that wasn't something that existed Wherever x. number of years ago you might take for granted that you have this amazing you know Supercomputer that just like that is reality. That is what the world was but obviously that had changed so at. What point is the use of crypto so ubiquitous and so embedded in so many things that we just take it for granted so were were. We have credited ago on that. But i think we're making really really strong progress. I think when. I also think about that question. I really think about Crypto and blockchain Is is. It's a pretty broad surface area right. You can be narrowly focused and sort of say there's non-sovereign stores value that use of blockchain infrastructure. You know bitcoin cash you know cetera et cetera which i completely agree with melting right. There's this this is this new form of borderless internet money and it will continue to grow and scale. And i'm i'm quite quite optimistic about that. But then there's the the fundamentals of the broader technology right so you know public chain infrastructure as effectively a new operating system layer on the internet. A new set of systems for storing data conducting transactions and executing code. That's what operates systems can help. Do these new operating system layers are very very general purpose in many respects there well suited to what i call fiduciary trust applications but can also be you know i. I was in a hackathon panel with melting the other day and we are looking at someone who built a decentralized messaging application on top of salona. The point being anti-centralized fantasy football fans in so digital games. You know messaging applications all these things on decentralized infrastructure web three cetera. Like that part of this is also a very very important part of this and so and you know something like stable coins like regulated stable coins like a us dc or potentially libra like these. These are also like apps that run on this new operating systems and could be quite popular. And so i think in terms of the question of when does that become mainstream. I think we're really close there. I think in the next twelve to twenty four months many of the most popular digital wallet products in the world that are used that we think of unused like as peer payments. And things like that. They're gonna turn on these protocols they're gonna turn these on and you're going to have you know all of a sudden hundreds of millions of people that can make interoperable payments at each other and that will kind of be in the background. That will be invisible. You'll you'll just you won't be trapped in making payments to people who then mo you'll be able to make payments between van mo and square cash and pay pal and swish in sweden and vips in norway. And you know go around the world to all these different apps. They're all going to speak. These common protocols in i think that's a a mainstream phase in digital currency. That's that's coming. I think ultimately that same number of people who might feel okay like i'm using euros or dollars or whatnot feeling comfortable using bitcoin that will grow to and eventually i would expect billions of people will will wanna use bitcoin to

Seattle's King County Confirms Record-Breaking Turnout at Over 86%

"Rate record breaking election Jew, Y says The numbers are impressive more than 86% of registered voters in King County return their ballots for the general election, breaking the old record set eight years ago. Statewide more ballots forecast than ever before, with more than 4.1 million. But at 84%, Washington's turnout fell just shy of the state's record from 2008. But ultimately you know, getting getting the voters to participate comes down to the campaigns and all of the ancillary groups that are focused on voter turnout. Statistics from the past 20 years show voter turnout barely reaches the low seventies and midterm elections. And the numbers drop significantly further in off year election cycles. We look ahead. 2021, then 2022. It's really all about voter contact and voter engagement, getting volunteers that are passionate about what's happening in Olympia and what's happening at their local levels. Everything it'll get to a point where we'll see 70 plus for a midterm or an off off year, potentially, but we're gonna have to do some structural things rundown. Sour says a few things might help declaring Election Day a state or national holiday, reducing barriers to voting in other states and expanding the use of mail in voting. Moving election day altogether to a different part of the week. That's a sacrifice

Shipping Companies Hard Hit By Coronavirus

"Act fast one eight. The holiday season is officially underway but a surge of homebound americans turning to ecommerce or gift shopping might spell trouble for the transport. Frank collins got the story. Hey frank melissa. Holiday peak from black. Friday and new year's day is traditionally not really a great time for this dachshund carriers like ups and fedex despite the boom in business especially in recent years is e commerce grows for example last year both really underperforming the broader market transport's also facing the headwind of a trucker shortage the. Us will end this year with an estimated two hundred thousand fewer drivers due to the pandemic closing training schools delaying the licensing of drivers and leading many older drivers into retirement. Now that may not seem like a lot with nearly four million drivers here in the us but demand for trucking it more than double last month and major trucking companies. They have all warned about rising rates in difficulty in hiring and retaining drivers in their most recent earnings. The warner enterprises a trucker for walmart. Says it's already impacting product availability for all of us and raising the cost for retailers. Well think the driver shortage persists. It's one of the impact on inventory levels at stores and it's one of the impacts on what ultimately of drives rates and demand for delivery vans and tractor-trailers also spiking companies go to the us market for supply fedex and ups. They've been clear to us. They say that shortage is not directly. Impacting them but both companies are facing the challenge of an avalanche of less profitable residential e commerce and the impact on their margins. Unless you frank thank you. Frank colin. You would think that they'd be the most wonderful time of year for for these players. Tim but in the past we have seen shipping delays really impact stocks because the massive disappointment. If if mike didn't get that game console about an hour ago now in that happened on a widespread basis across america that could be an issue for for ups or fedex. I hope he did. Because he's he's now not only destroyed. The santa claus concept but he he better walk in the door with that thing. And if you think about what what happened to fedex and ups last year. Yeah it was a big issue and there was huge bottlenecks that they couldn't work through. I think the the the performance of those stocks though and it was really the last. The previous two holiday seasons were more a function of cyclicality the economy and where they were leading indicators. But look what we've learned from ups and fedex that they've actually mastered the essentially the beat ac- as opposed to the side which seemed to be higher margin but again what fed ex is doing on integrating ground and express and some of those synergies and actually using the entire system and doing things. We didn't think they are going to do is part of that story. I'm long fedex. I stay long transports of outperform the sap by fifteen to twenty percent since july. So for those people think it's time to take profits. I don't think we're for that yet. But i don't think i mean i think tina simply there really isn't another alternative right so clearly you might see some. Some cost pressure In the interim but i really think these companies have done a good job. This isn't a new phenomenon. Now right we've been this lockdown situation. The the advances that they've been able to made on the logistic fraud have already kind of transpired. So i know i really don't think this is much headwind. In terms of share price and again i reiterate there really isn't another alternative. This is the reason why i did. Mention names like target and walmart amazon. Etcetera that do have local distribution have kind of gotten in front of this holiday rush scenario but again. I think you've seen all these companies kind of prep for this and get ahead of the curve

What the Election Taught Us About the Latina Vote

"A majority of latino voters did vote for joe biden and comma harris. They played a critical role in states like arizona like nevada. The played in pennsylvania part of my theory of what happened. Is that because florida went. I what happened in miami dade set the narrative about let the nose around the country in the eyes of people who don't know our community is that well and we're providing a lot of that analysis and it then became a wave of headlines that took what was a part of the story. Because i think there are two story. There is both the truth. That latinos turned out in incredible numbers for democrats and the truth. Donald trump made inroads among some communities within the latino community. Both things can be true. They didn't weighted equally in the way that we talked about it. But i also think most of the national media is based on the east coast. So there's a tendency to see things through that lens. Miami comes in first. Miami is wear people tend to think of a power center of latinos. Being latinos in miami are much more powerful than latinos elsewhere. But then when you step back is your sanely. The majority of latino voters are actually not for out there. They're all over the southwest. they're also in the in. The rust belt made a difference not only in pennsylvania. I think also maybe even in wisconsin and we tend to forget about those places where we tend to gloss over them really easily and i do think a lot of that has to do based on where the national media is based. Let's talk about what did happen in arizona because that story provides such a narrative counterweight to what we saw happening in florida. Especially because it was a story ten years in the making you have to go back to senate bill ten seventy which was known as this. Show me your papers law and came at the same time period. Sheriff joe arpaio Huge anti immigrant sentiment within the government of arizona and all these young people some undocumented themselves some not took to the streets they did tons of protests and they started to organize there. Are i would say half a dozen organizations that came out of that era that now for people to vote in arizona knocked on doors to get people out to vote. Sorta sold the messaging to get people to vote not just for biden but for people down ballot. They were really trying to flip the state legislature and a lot of these organizations by the way are not big. Joe biden vans. I mean they like biden better than trump and they certainly wanted to get trump out of office but it was much more about getting trump out of office than voting for biting. It's what a lot of people have called a one time biting coalition that the group of people who voted this time joe biden or not going to be there in four years in the same formation because donald trump will not be on the ballot which means the democrats are gonna have to reconfigure a lot of their strategy while next. The florida story matters not for the national narrative this election but the fact that they were so off in what they thought was going to happen in florida from the democratic side that they lost so big to trump. I mean even those of us who were covering it at new. That trump was to do better than he added. Twenty sixteen in florida etc. The he did so much better than people thought with so many many more places that it was real devastating blow to the floor democratic party. In so that just reinforces your point that. Where does the party go from here. Because this was such a sort of unique set of circumstances. Nationally and in the st louis makes it look bleak for the future of democrats.

Van something to watch something to read on your spare time as expected a northern California. Judge appointed by the Obama administration a request came from the A C L U. The neither them an opportunity to ask for asylum and tell them clearly you enter this country illegally. You will not we will not listen to you. We will not hear your requests. Well, there you go. I just find it amazing. How one judge can just put a stop to all this. But it's a legal fight from the president doing the right thing and continue to fight this. And I hope it makes it all the way up to the high court. Are you this thing again, he should have the right to be able to the neither? This is a very serious story. I apologize. "Pro show county in Ventura, California county, welcome. Hi, hi. Thank you for taking my call. I wonder something very very important is my car, a salvage or vehicle. It was a beautiful vehicle with about five thousand dollars. I got hit on the freeway. I got rear ended and then my insurance company. Everybody calls it a salvage and it's not worth anything. Okay. My salad. So I guess I don't have a vehicle anymore. Even though I drive it. It's. Pige patrol car. I can't I can't do anything. It's not worth five anymore. What what what kind of vehicle is is Connie. Two thousand one minivans Voyager. Okay. And having miles were on it. About two hundred fifty thousand but I'll take good care of it. Yeah. But I mean, they've still got to pay your fair market value for you've you've got a clear title, right? Correct. When you settled with them. Then all you need to do is get busy looking for something to replace it with and hopefully something with lower knowledge older mini vans. Don't hold their value. Very well that's gonna work in your favorites. Excuse me, darling. But they say, no, no, no, there's nothing that can replace it. And I don't wanna replace it. I wanna keep it and I'm driving, but everybody calls it a salvage. It is if the damage is more than the value, then it is considered a total. And and you're not gonna be able to even if it weren't if even if you took the money to fix it. You're not gonna be able to get it fixed for that. And if you were able to find somebody that said, yeah, we could fix it for five thousand dollars. It would never be the same. It's just it's got too many miles to put that kind of money in get your insurance check from the insurance company, and and and look around for a Chrysler van dodge van. Something, you know, hopefully, again with fewer miles they're out there. And they are inexpensive. I have an article at my website, car pro USA dot com that you should read. It's it talks about on the FAQ page. It tells you how to deal with an insurance adjuster to make sure you get the right amount. That's.
