And, you know one caveat to when we say there's a shortage of labor is that employers who are paying more and offering incentives are having no trouble finding workers so there may be a pay issue involved there. And so I was every one of their games and five and six and I You know, I just I remember there were even then there was like a feeling of inevitability that in the fourth quarter, whether they were down by 10 are up by 10. He was gonna take over and it was the same sort of feeling. It was the exact same sort of feeling. I remember having Michael Jordan when he was a teenager. You know what I mean? Like where you knew the ball is in his hands at the end of the game. It didn't always work out this way. But you knew what you felt like you knew who was gonna win. You know what I mean? Looking again, like there's almost shocking when it didn't happen in the world points in time for both Jordan and Brady, where they had the ball in their hands, and it didn't work out. But more often than not You felt like it would happen and more than just that. You knew they knew it was gonna happen. And so I think that that's just such a I don't know. I mean, we could talk about like our generation versus you know, kids who are, you know, 20 years old. Now there's so much focus on like Um there's so much focus on like rock athleticism and, like, you know, the ability to you know, put together a highlight that wild people on social media I think sometimes.

And I was looking up bested when you're talking about it because I know seen it before in my mind is not like I don't even know if I WANNA fly. They're like Oh yeah. You know it's funny. Some sometimes that stuff's really intimidating but the rules you have to follow making for example. If you're coming down through Elgin and Valparaiso there I think it looks. I mean obviously be having to talk to their tower Roy. Once you're talking to their tower than your you know everything's Kinda worked out for you with the floor capabilities. File Easier that's funny. I was going to ask you about that because you're flying into so many different types of sorts. That's pretty much what you guys do. All the time right. It's just file a far. Yeah we will most are flights Are we can't take off the far far up in the air but we like to keep it many times. It's awesome just because it does help the have. Atc talking to you. We're GONNA get a busy airports. I never even expected to be really busy. There's one in Minnesota really crazy student training area. It won't quit and twice in my career I've seen people come in and Mooney's and just go around late in one case and hit the trees on in this last case Palo Alto literally just floated till he went right off the end of the runway and that was a fatal accident. You know people say like what would happen. How could he avoid it? I mean abort point in any airplane is a great idea right. No absolutely and it's something that like you said when you drill down and generally aviation to create that kind of mindset. You always think that it's not going to happen to you but it can happen to you. You're gonNA find yourself in this situation. You don't feel comfortable. Then you gotta go around just like no if saying like you can't succumb to that mindset

"Every so often a government somewhere announces a plan to make housing more, affordable and more available. Folks, we need to fix the housing crisis created by the labyrinth of liberal red tape. That's why I'm proud to be here today to REVEAL OUR government's plan for a dressing Ontario's housing crisis more homes, more choice Ontario's housing supply action plan, and then whether that government is liberal or conservative, whether it has the best of intentions or his just delivering for lobbyists, the plan fails and homes and rent get more expensive. The answer is a housing market increasingly controlled by private equity, firms private equity firms who used dwellings not as homes, but as stock chips, treating roofs that could be over people's heads as investments investments that are worth just as much and are frankly easier to handle if they're empty, so if you have ever been house hunting or apartment hunting in a big city, and it has felt like there is so little on the market and the prices are so far beyond your means. Something bigger must be going on here while you were right. And today we're going to explain why. Join the heath Rawlings, and this is the big story. They Lonnie far is the United Nations special rapporteur on the right to housing and Frederick garrison is a documentary filmmaker together, they have produced a new film called push. It documents the critical situation. So many of the world's cities currently face. Can you start by explaining to me what private equity firms Blackstone are doing in the housing market? And what effect that's having on the world. Sure app. Private equity firms have really introduced a new model in the whole housing sector, and it really started after two thousand eight in the global financial crisis. What they're doing is. They are buying up what they considered to be cheap or undervalued assets in the form of either foreclosed mortgages, single family homes or multifamily dwellings which are apartment buildings and they buy them up on mass. We're not talking. Oh, the, you know, five apart. We're talking two thousand apartments we're talking twenty thousand apartments as they did recently in Copenhagen two thousand summer ago in Berlin, they own I don't know seventy thousand single family homes in the United States. Right. We're talking all mass. They developed this model, and they do it through algorithms and all sorts of things, and it's a buy it fix it. And Jack up the rent's model that. It's that simple. It's very straightforward. They are investing other people's money. Those people expect a good return on that money. So what does Blackstone have to do? They have to raise the rents to ensure that their investors are satisfied, plus that income stream ends up being leverage for for more capital that they can, you know, leverage off of each property that they buy this is something else happening, and it's not the normal market this corporate takeover of. Of our cities, it's capitalism. It's landlords on speed because they are entering with an extreme energy ton some money and money that is not even their money because it's money that they're they're creating this kind of financial products and investors from all over the world are into these products could be pension funds can also be the same people who are smuggling cocaine. Toronto can also be the right migrant smugglers. It can be anyone. So it's so those financial products, and they always a lot of money out there. Yeah. You know? So the people with money or the entities would money because he's not even people sometimes they have more money than ever so much money. So we can't even comprehend and the rest of us have less. Also, the cities the countries have less. So it's it's like it's something has something's broken. And of course, something I mean, there's society has been broken for long time. But it's since two financial crisis two thousand eight. We all thought. Wow. Now, the banks will say up now, we know we can subtly we need. We we need responsible. Big brothers. You know, right. Everybody got scared. And now things are going to get better. Because we realized how close we came to disaster. Yeah. And then and then if announcing crisis has as wide than the gap even more and in the in extreme way into all over the world it in fact, it enabled the financial crisis enabled what we're seeing today in what pushes about in enabled these big financial actors to find cheap assets in the form of originally foreclosed mortgages in particular across the US in Spain, for example, Ireland as well. So they could buy these cheap assets. And then sell them or make profits off of them because they were so cheap in the first place, and that then became this model that they've trotted out since eight and really since two thousand and eleven so that's where we've ended up as. Result of the global financial crisis has kind of ironic. These guys the hedge funds. There are many of them. They have all a lot of different names Blackstone. A kale use whatever they're called? They didn't own one single department before twenty eleven and now they are the biggest landlord on the planet. So
