watched in the high school assembly one time and I'm just just just watching Metallica's one video oh that's the one where the guy had everything yeah one of the bottoms brothers isn't matter yeah I mean fucking disturbing and he's tapping SOS they figure it out and they still keep him alive so what he's in a room with a box over his face so he lost all his limbs yeah his face yeah so they put a box but he's still alive alive and his voice talks through the movie he's trapped in his head and he starts tapping SOS and you hear him talking to the doctors but he's not it's all in his his thoughts now in the video for one is that his voice taken from the film yeah that's a disturbing that's the film they actually show clips in the film yeah and the nurse comes in and she's about to put him out of his misery and the fucking doctor walks in what are you he thought he's he thought he had it she's gonna kill me that's it does she pleasure him in the movie cuz in the book she does oh no I don't think they did that in the movie yeah yeah shit she was my tuggy that's a you got a handy yeah for once Lou you brought the show up from going down I mean at least he got some gratification no pun intended I don't think I can watch that movie because it disturbed me so much in the Metallica video yeah eerie fucking video and Jason robot Jason robots is a great actor absolutely yeah his version of Willy Loman in in the death of a salesman is epic yeah and pick in Philadelphia yeah I I give Dustin Hoffman a lot of credit he played Willy Loman I think it was a play there's a TV play it was a TV play yeah he did Dustin Hoffman played that part really but Jason robots was Willy Loman to me here you know yeah and I always I always remembered that after I read the book and it was it was it was just something that always stuck with me where Biff comes home from college and he was his whole life he through high school middle young school was a high school athlete goes to college hey dad hey dad guess what guess what I did guess what I got I won this I won that and the one thing his father would always say well that's great Biff but do they like you that meant so it was always but do they like you that was that was like as a salesman that was like he lived it right you know but do they like you was always his thing yeah and I never forgot that for some reason that stuck with me Michigan governor and MSU alum Gretchen Whitmer noted the shooting came a day before the 5 year anniversary of the Valentine's Day massacre at marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida. We know this is a uniquely American problem. President Biden spoke on the Michigan state shooting. We have to do something to stop gun violence ripping apart our communities. And said he's determined to advance the fight against gun violence in Washington. There's a lot more work to do. The president specifically urged Congress to put what he called common sense gun law reforms in place to include banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines and requiring safe storage of guns. While lawmakers work on that, more American families are grieving. The MSU campus closed for at least a few days is the community plans vigils and funeral services for their classmates, and the 5 hertz work to recover. I'm Clayton Neville. It's 9 past. The Washington Post reporting, U.S. Military and intelligence agencies were tracking the suspected Chinese balloon as it left hainan island near China's south coast for about a week as it went over Guam until it took a sharp turn north and now analysts are investigating whether high winds as it soared over Canada may have accidentally pushed the balloon over the continental United States. The revelation comes as senators were briefed in a closed session about the Chinese balloon and three other unidentified objects that were shot down over the weekend. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer, praising the Biden administration for its handling of the situation so far. A lot of it is classified or on the edge of classified and it's difficult. "And then it was 107 shot 17 killed and they're still tallying the numbers in Chicago. It was also mayhem. Absolute mob mayhem, mayhem downtown in Chicago and Scores arrested and and here's the I'll get into that, Um, the the news media is updating their approach to this. They're not talking about the absolute pandemonium in Chicago again in 1927. Excuse me, 1929 7 Gangsters with the Irish North Side gang. The Bugs Moran gang were killed in a garage on the north side. By Al Capone's guys out of the South side this Sicilians the Italians were killing the Irish mobs. They wanted to kill Bugs Moran. They missed him. Another guy with a similar hat walked in. They murdered seven people that day, and we're still talking about it Nearly 100 years later as the ST Valentine's Day massacre, seven killed and uh and 1929 Just this weekend, 17 murdered and 106 or 108 shot And it's not even in the news. CNN is not talking about MSD ends here, watched MSD and see for about an hour this morning didn't mention Chicago, the CNN. They're very upset and both of them they're spending. Extraordinary amounts of time CNN and MSD NC on the six month anniversary of the riot, which they called the deadly insurrection on CNN. That's true, actually, that it was shot and killed by a police officer. We apparently have the name of the police officer now. So the first police officer named shooting an unarmed woman that has been kept secret in decades, I think in the United States America But never mind that stuff. Also in Washington, D C and Annapolis We just got this crazy stuff going on here. A man in Washington, D. C. Was minding his own business on 14th Street, Very popular area restaurants and Chic place to live now. $800,000.2 bedroom apartments, million dollar, two bedroom apartments in this neighborhood and a man I think 53 year old from liberal Takoma Park bordering Washington, D C and Maryland and he worked for the Peace Corps started out in the Peace Corps. Kim got some Masters degrees went back to work in the peace Corps. Well. He's got two teenage boys and a wife now widow because he was leaving a restaurant the other night Washington D C and was killed by a stray bullet. A straight vote. So an incredibly tragic and horrible story. Jeremy Black 53 years old father of two teenage was work for the Peace Corps. His wife was hovering over him after he was shot, saying, I love you and and he's saying I love you back to his wife. And then the 53 old man died for nothing. Um, he's a white guy. It's not in the news. She had been black. Maybe it'd be in the news. Certainly have some white people had shot him and be national news all over the place. But this is an absolutely horrifying story. And then there's a similar note. It may more horrible story out of Annapolis, Maryland, the mother of a at Annapolis young man or his son. She's African American from Texas. I believe in that came to Annapolis because her son was starting at the Naval Academy family couldn't have been prouder. Sitting down having a nice snack in Annapolis, which is not a hotbed of crime as a rule, and a stray bullet hit the mother of the young Naval Academy just coming into the Naval Academy, uh, his first year shot and killed minding her own business. And one of the most tragic stories I've ever heard in my life. And now the young man is saying, I just don't think I want to go to the Naval Academy and the Naval Academy is begging with him to stay and and it's just It's one of the most horrible stories. And in Chicago. That's those are two individual stories. And in Chicago just over this weekend, 106 people shot and 17 killed and that's not even considered to be news. At CNN or at MSNBC or in the Washington Post or in the New York Times, Just extraordinary. In the meantime, you know our young students playing in the last hour. Students at Georgetown and George Washington University, saying that America is a terrible country and they want to move and give up their citizenship and and then you ask them what countries better and that's where you stump them because they've just been taught to hate one country and they've been caught nothing about any other country. It's called brainwashing. It's called indoctrination. Right. And with that we're at 8886309625. I can't wait to get this Walmart moment with you and the movie moment that it reminded me of that's coming up right now. Let's go to the telephones. Let's go to Tom calling from Allentown, Pennsylvania. Tom, you're on the Chris Plante show. Yeah. Good morning, Chris. Hey, Tom, welcome. I just wanted to let you know. First of all, with respect to Georgetown, I think Father terrorists and father Merrin have to go back in there and do an exorcism because that that that place has lost its mind. Honestly, he remembers flee, right? Yeah. Next month zero is going to have to be called in. Yeah, definitely. Anyway, I just want, you know, Uh, Saturday night. Uh, excuse me. Sunday night. Me and my best girl appear in Bethlehem, Pa. At a Very patriotic celebration, and I saw quite a contrast of young people. It's a lot of young people who love this country. Who were very thankful and it was a very multi ethnic group. It was just so heartwarming to see and as a veteran All we did the service mentally and all the veterans stood up and they clapped and celebrated. So that's my America. I mean, I know we can point to these liberal privileged rats that Run down the country, but, uh Like I always say everybody is critic until, uh you know, until the shots start getting fired, so and then they changed their tune. But anyway, I just wanted to relay that to your to plant nation and let you know There is there are I think more of us than there are of them. Yeah, look, and I believe that's true. Unfortunately, they control the news media and the mass media and entertainment media and the newspapers and Hollywood. And the Democratic Party. So the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, However, I agree with you and you know, even from where I am in the District of Columbia can drive not very great distances.

"Washington Post today is really it zero most spectacular. It's just It's incredible how awful it is. There's no mention of Memorial Day on the front page. But there is this. They've got raised racial division all over the place. They got Confederate statues and Texas GOP pushes to pass strict voting bill they like to say. But it's uh you know, restrictive and racially, of course, because apparently white people and black people can't vote the same time of day or the same days here in the same way or any of that stuff. By the way, there were absolutely crazy. Um Examples where they like to call now. Gun violence, gun violence. What would 20 or 25 people shot at a rapper's party in Miami over the weekend? 20. I mean again. The ST Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago was seven Gangsters being shot and killed. In Florida. At least two dead and more than 20. People shot at a single event, and that's not even Chicago. It's completely crazy. Absolutely not. But I went looking through The Washington Post today for the stories about Memorial Day and I kept going and going and not finding any stories about Memorial Day. I'm marveling this and they say, Oh, those terrible Republicans in Texas. They want to strict restrict voting for people of color. Because they found ways to pass laws that only affect people of color and voting laws and things like that. So I'm looking and I'm looking and I'm going after in the end, I got I got to get to this the anniversary 100 year anniversary of the Tulsa race riots and how they actually started. It's kind of a fascinating story. The Washington Post doesn't want you to pay attention to They do have a story on page 11 of today's Washington Post. Americans celebrate holiday weekend with a big return to roads and skies. It's actually just about traveling and people going back to air traveling, you know, traveling and all this stuff Also, I really want to get Tomo. They're upset about Confederate statues. They have a Basically a full page story on Joseph Stalin's birthplace and how some still toast to the dictator and there's a statue of Justice Stone. They're not tearing that down. Are they? Because the left, you know they don't tear down statues of Stalin. That's in Georgia, the former Soviet republic of the independent nation, allegedly of Georgia, where Stalin is from. And how they've got monuments to Stalin all over the place. They kind of like that. That's remarkable. Also the prime minister of Great Britain, This is kind of struck me as strange on page 13. Boris Johnson, the prime minister of Great Britain, got married over the weekend. And a little blurb on page 13 56 years old British prime minister married his fiancee, Carrie Simon's in a Secret service at Westminster Cathedral. Because that's where you always go for your secret service is when you're when you're the prime minister of Great Britain. You want to keep it low Key. You go Toe Westminster Cathedral when you're the prime minister to have your secret ceremony, and he's the first British prime minister to be married while in office in 199 years, I thought that was a mildly interesting story, but that I'm still looking. I'm looking for the hate Netanyahu. They really hate they love writing stories attacking Netanyahu. And on the Democrats hate Israel and they hate Netanyahu. And that's a story in there, too. I kept going and going, and finally I got to the last I'd flip that couldn't flip any more pages I get to the last page. And it's the editorial page. And then the Op ed page, and the lead editorial is this. That line is an appropriate memorial day. That's and I'm like, Oh, good. Finally, something about Memorial Day and today's Washington Post. The sub headline is the nation must honor the deaths of African Americans in combat and beyond. Well, you don't under the deaths of African Americans in your newspaper ever. I've been reading the paper for more than 30 years. It's not something you guys pay any attention to, just by the way. That's him. That's the whole paper. That's the whole thing on appropriate Memorial Day, the nation must under the desk of African Americans in combat and beyond and saying, Wow, that's kind of an amazing thing. And then across from that, e J Dione little Strange little man with the headline. Patriotism and the promise of Black Liberation Black liberation patriotism in the premise of black liberation. They're nothing if not racist. They're the party of the clan and all that. And the Marjorie Taylor Greene story coming up, because it's just it's just one for the books, as they say. But first, let's go to the telephones were 886309625. Let's go to Mike calling from summer Duck Virginia summer Duck is one of the great names for a town anywhere. Welcome, Mike. Hi, Chris. Great show. Thank you for covering them from Memorial Day. It's a day that near and dear to my heart, and I just wanted to tell you about a quick story that my dad related to me while I was on And then I related to my best friend next next door. And while I was relating it to the Next door. My dad stepped in, So I'll just tell you the story. They were flying. He was on a bombing run in Korea. Um and was they started taking some Um, ground fire 20 millimeter ground fire, antiaircraft, grand grand fire and as he pulled out away from the attack area One of those bullets came through the Um and my dad didn't even notice that he had been shot until he started pulling out and the bones started squishing around in his leg. Pretty grisly story. Yeah, when I was when I was relating the story to my friend many, many years later, Um, I told him that story and my dad pulled up beside me. Well, when they got the plane down, gotta leave didn't want to leave us up. When they got the plane down. Finally, Um there were 250 holes in the plain. Both wing tips were shot off. The writer was shot off. And my dad might hero got that plane down in what was left of the one piece that itwas Andre. When I was relating story, I said there were 250 holes in the plane and the other stuff and my dad came up, put his arm around me and said Mike There were 256 holes in that aircraft. Don't don't leave out the other six and I, It's a poignant and it was funny and it was something he lived through. That man loved his country. He fought for it on. I am amazed every time I think about him. I get a little teary like him right now. So I just thank you for letting me tell that story. You bet..

"What's with these people in the Communists? They're really not on our side very much, are they? No, they're not. President Trump is being sued by a group they call themselves the civil rights group. It's just a left wing group and President Trump is being sued by this group of Chinese Americans for calling it the Chinese flu. Because they're very upset about that, because a lot of Democrats have gone around in committed active eggs of violence since then, which is kind of kind of interesting and and and, you know, the we got this virus and others remember Joe Biden calling Governor Greg Abbott of Texas and Neanderthal, right, Neanderthal and and now Joe Biden with a Chinese quotes and I was think he should be called Joe Magnin is you and Joe Magnet like you like Cro Magnum heebie Jo Magnin, Biden. Because I mean it really honestly, Neanderthals, I think, on average considered to be pretty smart, coming out of the use and all that smarter than Joe Biden. I think probably a lot smarter than he's a Joe Magnin. I'd rather be a man with all that I Joe Magna. Also, we have lots and lots of news on crime and mayhem and black lives matter. And all kinds of all kinds of stuff and violence there. Is there a lot of reporting. Now People are starting to pay attention. I've been paying attention for weeks and talking about it, actually, for months about all the crime as the Democrats defund the police and wage their war against the place in the place of the bad guys, it turns out actually the bad guys or the bad guys. And they're murdering people. The bad guys are in numbers never seen before. In certain cities. For example, there is a story out of, UM ST Louis, Missouri, the homicide rate there. We do crime statistics per 100,000 people, right so Washington D C s is 700,000 people. Let's say around number the population 700,000 people. So if you have seven homicides that one per 100,000 people one per 100,000 people Well in the United States. The homicide rate is 55 per 100,000 people on an annual basis in ST Louis. It's 87 87 so I went. I did a little research on this. In Mexico. It's 29 in Mongolia. It's six. Alright in Liberia. It's three. However. In Lesotho. Oh, it's it's 44. Tiny country inside of South Africa was Soto 44 per 100,000. But in ST Louis, it's 87 for 100,000, United States. Five per 100,000, Mongolia, six per 100,000. ST Louis 87 per 100,000 shattering all kinds of records, you know, and they just elected a new left wing Democrat Mirror. The news media is very excited to announce that she's the first black woman to be married ST Louis She walks into a A storm at the edit myself there a storm a heck, storm and the crime in the mayhem. You know, de funding the police. It turns out that who could have predicted this? Well, me and millions of other people, and so I did, and millions of other people predicted Chip You defund the police. You undermine the police. You wage war on the place. Crime goes up. Guess who suffers disproportionately? That's right. People of color. And I marveled that this is new information to people. I you know, this is what happens when you erase your memory. This is these are not the droids you're looking for. And these people come in. They're corrupt their ideological fanatics. And their anti police and pro criminal, their anti Israel and pro Hamas. It's pretty remarkable. The anti American and pro Chinese communist regime in many, many instances. Pretty amazing stuff. So I've got a bunch of bunch of news and information on on crime. What was that? Chicago this weekend 48 people shot in Chicago, 11 murdered. Grew up mostly in Chicago, and, um The ST Valentine's Day massacre in 1929 was seven people. Seven people 1929 people, theoretically, still talking about it today. This weekend 11 people murdered 48 shot 48 shot. Hey, no problem in ST Louis 87 per 100,000 murders, and they just elected a left wing mayor who plans she's announced proudly that she's going to continue the war against the police and on the battlefield. There's a saying America's military men and women.

They rode off on what might easily have been a wild romantic Clark, but almost before they knew it with giggles still in their ears they had bloodied up for state. Today marks the 87th anniversary of the day. Bank robbers Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, a k A body and Clyde were shot to death in a police ambush and Bienville Parish Louisiana with us today is Perry Carver, who is the owner of the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Museum. In gives Lin Louisiana place I visited. I believe it was 12 years ago for the 75th anniversary. Perry, Welcome to WGN. Thank you. Thank you for having me. So let's talk about Bonnie and Clyde. And so there's probably some young listeners who may not know much about Bonnie and Clyde. Who are they? And what did they do? Well, they were too I guess. Star crossed lovers that met and early 1930. They went on the road, 1932. And Went went down in history of Hollywood really glamorizes their story and it kind of makes you interested, but once you get into the real story, It's a lot deeper and darker than any. Maybe we'll show them. It's just really a sad and tragic story in American history. It's the biggest thing that ever happened to be in Bill Parrish that they You know, you can really as like today. You can thank our media for creating them. They sold newspapers. They made up a lot of stories about him that weren't true. And they probably got away with some things that we don't know about it, but they were not too Real killers just running around the country. They were moving every day. They were. They were wanted in about six dates. Z. So you you know you. You said something interesting because you you own this museum down in Gibbs Lind, and it is dedicated to the two of them. But you're saying that they have been romanticized and I really was going to get right to that point, because Bonnie and Clyde to me. You know when I hear the story, and when I watched the movie it was it did romanticize. They were like dressed Well, they were having a good time. Although it was brutal what they did. There was something about it that you sort of excuse. Almost like when you watch A Mafia movie. Or you think about the scent Valentine's Day Massacre. You don't think that people? Gosh, they lost their lives there in a brutal killing, but it's a It's part of. You know, our Chicago history that week, sort of glamorizing it. It seems wrong to do that. Do you ever think about that? Perry? Well, the, uh, the Saint Valentine's Day you asked her is completely different. I mean, everybody that that there were Gangsters anyway. I mean, the guys could have been turned either way. Uh, Body implied that there's just something about their story number. One body is a is that tragic victim in this story, she was old enough to make her own choices. But I think at 21 years old, she just she had no idea. What was this door for her when she decided to go with him. He felt like you got the short end of the stick. You got blamed for a murder and heels boom. And then he was guilty by association. He was there He was sitting in the car. When they went to blame somebody. They blamed him and Raymond Hamilton and didn't even mention the people that actually did it. So he he ran. You know, when she felt sorry for me. She ran She wasn't an outlaw. She never robbed or killed anybody. She her life insurance policy by Double Indemnity for accidental death. When they killed her. They did not want to shoot this girl. They tried for two weeks to get her away from him. You know, given separated and grab her. And no one around you with I wanna you know they were they all that She was dying from blood poisoning. So she was going to die with him. She was gonna die in a prison hospital. She was going to die with him. And nobody would tell on him, You know, tell him when she was, you know, separated from them. So so he is It was it. You know the movie and aside, you know you, you know people who were related to Bonnie and Clyde. And you know the story from being in this community that was very affected and is known for what happened there. So you you've got kind of the inside story. Was Clyde. Was he? A charismatic guy was he is charismatic as you would see in the Warren Beatty portrait portrayal. I don't know if he would have a charisma to him. He had more of that fat happy, Okay? Didn't he didn't say a whole lot. Uh, He never complained a lot. Most people that met him, You know, kind of felt sorry for men like him if they were these teach serial killers or whatever masked killers. Would've never ran for over two years. Somebody would have turned them again. You know, somebody would have killed him. You know they they like I said the story's made up a lot of stuff about him. They did have some Unbelievable gun battles, and they did escape. Uh, just unbelievably, you know that they should have been caught and captured. It's not killed and Dexter, Iowa. So, Perry, wait, You're Are you telling me? I mean, there's no question that they robbed filling stations and banks and broad people and shot that broad oil refineries. Okay. Did not rob Mom and pop gas basic. You know, his daddy owned the gas station. You know, most people gave him gas and you know if he'd come back through and pay him if he had the money a lot of time he had money paid for his get paid for his meals. He robbed the oil refinery. Yeah, he did Rob some banks. We don't know how many He didn't like robbing banks. Hey, didn't like the attention, But if he did rob him he would go in at night. It was you. She was a professional in anything into the professional burglar. You could break in, and he would go do a roof. You know, he'd break into a bank at night. Wait for somebody to come in in the morning. Get what he could. And then he'd be gone before the town got stirring. Um, why didn't he ever get enough money from anyone? Heist or whatever, or robbery to just retire and and kind of just kind of just, you know, live a normal life, Take the money and buy a house in it. You know, and whatever Whatever people did back then is biggest job he ever got was his second bank job, and they got $32,000. That was the biggest holly ever had. Um.

I never thought I would root for a Bobby Lashley as Champion, but you know, right right. He was almost though booked as a face. It was a total Babyface win, and yep. Everyone was rooting for it because the MS was such a shit like a little bitch. Yeah how we got the title was a bitch. They played it up. You knew it was going to happen at the end the way they were doing it, right every time they restart a mass three times. Obviously, it's a Valentine's Day massacre of sorts A on the New York City subway. There was some slashings and we're gonna get into that, and they caught the guy and be The Democrats. Their impeachment case was slaughtered in the Senate trial, with Donald Trump again making history as the first president to be impeachment. Twice so nice. My guy does it twice. That's l trumpeter than all this, Magnus now again, Trump was acquitted. His lawyers killed it. They did a fascinating job of fantastic job. You name the adjective. They did it because They really did. They turned this thing upside its head because you know, we were kind of accustomed to the Democrats taking the ball or running with it and constantly running the show. And, you know, just smiling through their words and, you know well, it was an insurrection and we've got to hold him accountable because if we don't hold the president accountable, he'll do it again. And they just get all excited with this. This rhetoric that has no basis in the facts. And This was a political prosecution, just like other political prosecutions that we've seen in Cuba and Columbia and just last week in Myanmar used to be called Burma. And this is how bullies behave. They always push until they get pushed back. Now Trump Is not confined to the political pressure of the presidency anymore. So the best defense You know, it is a good offense. That to me is where Trump is right now where he is now able to to say what he wants to say He doesn't have to deal with the repercussions of the office that he holds because he doesn't have to sit across the table now. What world leaders in this and that It could be all politics all the time. If he wants to. I think now he can unleash like he did during the campaign in 2016, the raw Unvarnished Donald Trump that I think America fell in love with. And of course, another half of American, namely the Democrats. Felon hate women, right? Or as the great one says they've got a hate on for him so Recently, I was looking at my social media. And I found that interesting. Somebody of social media tells me that it's really sad that Trump got acquitted. And I replied, Yeah, I know. It's really sad. We get four more years of Biden. They started saying that it was no sad because of trump and I'm thinking now, you know, I think it's really sad that Biden starts his administration. He's trying to focus on his 100 days. His 1st 100 days. And the focus is on the guy that they just tried to oust. Rights. It's interesting that Trump is the headline today. He was the headline yesterday. Guess what? He's going to be the headline tomorrow. And if you're Biden, that's gotta suck. Now Some people are surmising and saying, You know what? No, no, no, no Rich. You've got this one wrong. That's not the case. As a matter of fact, Biden's doing this so that he can lay low. Let Trump stay in the spotlight because that's how he won in the first place. Now, of course that opens up Pandora's box and a new can of worms. Where we you know. Is that really how Biden won? I don't think so. I think he stayed under the radar because he had certain assurances. Like The ones that are outlined in the time magazine article. That was a big story last week, and I don't want to go into that right now. But I do want to talk about impeachment and this big victory and how people who instead of celebrating that their guys in the office of the president They're busy. Focusing on the fact that Trump beat impeachment again. And they're so sad for America. So now now it's like, you know, um, the Side of America that you know, stands for the country that stood with the president Trump that believes in conservatism and constitutionalism. These these people are happy that Trump was vindicated and that it was proven that Trump you know, didn't do. What they claimed he did. We're happy, But of course, we were sad last week. We were in the week before because Trump didn't get back in despite an amazing campaign and winning more votes. And anybody. So now it's their turn. And instead of being happy that their guy got in there upset that Trump didn't lose and that to me speaks volumes. Because this is the same guy that they've been trying to fire since he got in, and they have not been able to succeed. At least by impeachment and removal from office. But this is the same guy that deported last Latinos than Obama. He boosted the economy and saw the biggest increases in Hispanic homeownership to date. So, yes, it is so sad that we have Joe Biden for the next four years. Now I realize that not everybody. Interprets facts the same way and it's sad that that happens, But I realized that that is a thing in particular. Our friends on the other side of the aisle, the Democrats now it's not particularly that I'm a Republican, because I'm happy to dismiss Republicans, too. I don't necessarily think Republicans are in the right on most issues. I think that they just align more with mine, and I think a lot of people feel the same exact way. The problem is.

"What we have identified with a detective walk. Is that whoever is behind the big lobby for ivanka. Trump is not on telegram which means not russians because she's only fourteen percent support on telegram but she's got thirty nine percent support on twitter. The plot thickens. You can still vote right up to nine o'clock. will it be ivanka. Instead will be donald or will it be neither now. This is the spot where. I look back at the seven days in our checkered history. This is the week. And it's another momentous. One in one thousand nine hundred twenty nine. It wasn't all chocolates and roses on valentine's day in chicago. It was bullets and wreaths when seven gangsters were killed in what became known as the saint. Valentine's day massacre killed allegedly on. Why we say allegedly. You can't sue us. It definitely was him. But it says here killed allegedly on our capone's orders no it wasn't a wise move in nineteen seventy one by richard nixon. That's not richard nixon. That's alka porn. "Kind of the secrets of Chicago Adam actually just conducted tour this morning, Ondas with us on the phone line right now, Adam. Nice to have you with us on WGN. Hello. Good to be here. Are you on the bus right now Talking to us? No, no, I'm not running bus tours this year. They're all virtual tours this year. Prepare Lee obvious reasons, so I switched to doing virtual right when lockdown started, But there's you know, I can. I can include stuff on a virtual tour that I could never use in person. And I'm gonna have a lot more people with what a fantastic idea what was the subject of today's virtual tour? Well, it's Valentine's Day. So of course, we're doing Gangsters of Chicago. Today We cover the same Valentine's Day Massacre Capone's rise and fall the other gangs around the city. That's the reason that I wanted to talk to you as well. Of this day in 1926, Maybe one of the most Memorable events on 29 29 not to be pedantic. But no, Let's get a correct happened where these guys were all gunned down. And today still when you go around the world and people here that you're from Chicago, you know they'll comment. Something on the gangster days in Chicago. First thing, Al Capone Bang Bang. I was I was literally I was in a little small village in Italy once and somebody, you know, I was introduced to the person who didn't speak English at all. You know, Introduced me from being from Chicago. They said Chicago and Capone, bang, Bang, bang, bang. Yeah, That's what we're known for her around the world, So yeah. For better or worse, that Z what they know. At least they know it's for something, I guess so. So it's explained the history of the ST Valentine's Day massacre to us well, but 1929 there were essentially two major gangs still left operating. There was the North Side gang to buy that it was run by a guy named Bugs Moran because everybody for confidence had already been cut down. And, of course, down on the South side. There was the gang was by then led by Al Capone. The Capone was down in Florida, and he was spending most of his time in Florida by 29. But the barrel they did without the word. Let's finally take these guys out. So Valentine's Day a 29 7 guys affiliated with Miranda Gang. It was said to be five Gangsters. One mechanic and one optometry is to just thought it was really cool to hang out with Gangsters. Gather to this little garage on North Clark Street. TSMC Cartage company. Four guys in a stolen police squad car drove up to dress his cops, too. In plain clothes. They want them like it was a regular old liquor raid lined everybody up against the wall. At this point, the details get a little bit fuzzy. But we imagine they probably said something like, all right, Which one of you mugs bugs, Moran. And since none of them was bugs, Moran, that might be why they just shot all seven of them. At that point, the guys dressed his cops march the guys in plain clothes out at gunpoint. So anybody walking by what? I thought it was just another regular old liquor raid. And that was the same. Valentine's Day Massacre reinforce part harmony and four full orchestration and bugs was not part of that. No bugs bugs had not showed up yet. But he put out a statement saying, the only person who kills guys like that is Capone. And, uh, you know, what was the resolution between Capone and Bugs Moran after that was really. Two years later, Capone was on trial for tax evasion Bugs. Moran died in prison two years and years later. So there wasn't any revenge binge or anything like that. That took place afterward. Not exactly they were. They were so scattered gang killings. After that, there were sometimes said to have been revenge for the massacre. There are a couple of Capone's guys, Scully, CNN. Tell me were famously found beaten to death by the side of the road in Indiana. They have barely been beaten with a baseball bat to the big banquets. That was supposedly because they've been caught plotting to assassinate component takeover. There's also it could have been that shooting all seven people, but not the guy they were supposed to be. Hitting is exactly the kind of thing that's polizia has only might have done this broad down The feds and everything on Capone's so if they might have been punishment for screwing the job up to Yeah s o the Yeah, Much of what I've read about components how beloved he was by people in Chicago that the average person it's make sick. Yeah, Some people love the guys. Some people hated the guy. Just like now. Some people thought he was real Robin Hood type character, so that Peter down quite a lot after the ST Valentine's Day massacre. You know, people talked about his generosity to other people. That was not the case. He well, he was good with public relations. You had a soup kitchen for a while, They said he would help you get mortgages and a lot of people have stories about how they're they're gave their grandfather alone to buy a house during the Depression or something like that. How much of it's true is kind of hard to gauge because he was very good at public relations. He was good at making people think he was a real public benefactor and a bit. Of course, it is well known to every Chicago tour guide that after the tour will have people coming up to us, even if it's not a gangster tour, saying I'm from so and so talented Nebraska. I'm sure you've heard all about that. That's where Capone at his resort. And it's three different towns. Every tour. Yeah. Oh, really, where we're doing it we're doing. It is rumored to have had resorts in every small town in the Midwest and across the southeast in parts of California, and I haven't looked up all of them. I couldn't necessarily say.

"You've had a run in with the cops. You had a situation better tell them because I'm repeating myself like a parrot. Somebody else brings it to you. You're on the defensive, explaining you're losing you Bring it out first and frame it. The way you need to. It takes all the wind away. By the way, Trump never figured that out. He was always on the defensive or not on the defensive. He just would deny deny Deny. So it worked from for a while. Now, it doesn't as the Howard Rubinstein of our lifetime Steve out of bottle doing damage control. You would tell a candy, get everything out. Including the six school models you've had in the last 20 years of being married to set about because that comes to the surface to you know that, Steve I left that out on purpose. Go ahead. Okay, So that stuff you keep Hush hush much much now. Final question. Steve out a bottle, because I didn't mean May I met general? Could my wife Jennifer listening right now? Don't get me in trouble. No, no, it's okay. It'll be the ST Valentine's Day massacre for you on Sunday. If in fact that's true, but 100% go ahead. This legalization of the recreation we recreational use of marijuana. The voters in New Jersey passed it overwhelmingly. Yep, Who's getting wined? Dined in pocket line about where? These, um wholesale retail outlets they're gonna because I know a lot of communities they don't want, even though they voted. Legalized in a New Jersey They don't want the dispense she Aires in the community. How come it's not available yet? First of all, you are right. There are powerful sources, powerful players behind the scenes with a lot of money involved when there's money involved, and there's lobbying, which is legal inappropriate. You don't know how things are playing out. But I'll say this publicly, The fight is over. What exactly will the criminal charges be? Or what's criminal? And what's de criminalized? What's legal? Not when it comes to minors and marijuana? That's the public fight. You're saying they haven't resolved that? So Governor Murphy has not signed off yet. I believe it's that plus what you're talking about Who gets what in what neighborhood and who's getting, you know? Um, just a few bucks and I got to tell you something that's got to be resolved because the voters said We approve legal, recreational marijuana, and you can't sit on that because you're denying the voters what they said they wanted in a public initiative with the Legislature couldn't figure it out. Well, you know what the most interesting argument in Jersey and it's reflected here in New York. We're gonna be talking about that up. Next is You have the religious community in the inner city, blacks and Hispanics. Evangelicals. Mainstream Baptists totally opposed. Including Senator Ron Rice, the leader of the Black Caucus in the state Senate in Jersey. Absolutely against us from north, right, so the older black and Hispanics, let's say Ah, my age your age. Steve opposed to it. Go with your age. Okay, uh, the younger black and Hispanic saying No, no, no, We're budding entrepreneurs. In Irvington, East orange, new work. We want to be licensed to run the dispensary ery because this is like a cash cow. This is like reparations, 40 acres and a mule and more. Curtis. You have this right when people say what is the view of the minority community? What's the view of Hispanic mean? That's ridiculous. There are so many different factions. There's so many different divisions and how they look at it is by age by geography by religion by so many things, there is not a monolithic African American. Perspective on legalization of marijuana, and you are absolutely right. Younger folks who happen to be black are many of them, most of them and every policy absolutely favorite of it because they see the entrepreneurial opportunities and they don't believe with many older African Americans believe And that's just the nature of communities. They're very independent in the way they think they're not monolithic. Just remember the Kennedys were bootleggers and then when it became legal What happened on eventual President of the United States. Correct, Steve A tomato. I mean, listen, coincidence that happened. The coincidences go on, and I don't know what happened in Chicago. And although I have no idea in 1960 hours a little baby at the time, I don't know if if old man Joe took care of business with his friend Sam Giancana. I don't know. I just know what I read. Curtis Lee was But I know your daddy dearly departed that you love so much, And so many other people did it and iconic figure in the Democratic Party. He told you, you just purposely forget God.
