"Well, I, uh, you know, everybody says the two favorite words in sports is game 7. And I say the people that say that clearly have no rooting interest in the game because if your team is playing in a game 7, these are not your favorite words 'cause every single second of the game is a heart attack, but yet alas, we are headed to another game 7 of these Eastern Conference playoffs, Evan valenti back here on public speed alongside Seth lamb and formerly of ESPN. As we give a little, we decompress a little bit after game 6, Boston loses one 11 and one 13..

"And valenti's back with us, he's back from his vacation in the second he returned it seemed like things, you know, just started improving for the Celtics again after his trip totally derailed them and injured rob Williams. We talked about that last week. Well, he's the blame. He's the reason Chris forsberg that other voice that you're here in NBC sports Boston. How are you, man? Now I'm angry. Yeah. No, I actually was pinning the blame on myself. I had to do sideline for a couple of games and I think my first game. That Timberwolves game was the night he got hurt and so that blood is on my hands. It feels only appropriate that I somehow my excitement was just too much for time lords meniscus to handle and so I'll take the blame out. You're off the hook. So the alternate timeline like out of Doctor Strange was created just by your passion, your level of excitement. It just messed up everything. Blew out his knee. Like I mean literally meniscus was like, there's an energy in this building that I can not harness and it just shredded. Luckily, luckily it was only a minor tier. I've kept it in check enough that he will be able to return in the playoffs. Yeah, so you're the bad luck guy. I appreciate the fact that you're stepping up for that. That's one of my favorite low key scenes of Celtic pride is when they have the jazz jerseys on. And they're like, we've been rooting for the entire time. The Celtics. And who hasn't won anything? Oh, yeah, I didn't want to say anything. But we knew you guys were the bad luck guys. I just want to put out because we could go on and on about Celtic pride. Who wouldn't? I mean, it's on the shelf here behind me naturally. But look, it's masters week. So just real quick in the wake of the most racing game. Golf clap for the Celtics. For the good-looking loss in Milwaukee. Just a wonderfully beautiful performance for those of you and I'm honestly, like I've been tweeting about this. I'm not one of these people. But for the people out there that have been and they're all over my mentions, you guys as well, I'm sure..

"Welcome in another nice new addition to Celtics beat and all is well in the sea's world four straight wins. It's now 15 of 17, 17 of 20 if you want something a little cleaner, you could even go deeper, call it 22 of 28, the message here, folks, is the Celtics are winning far more than they are losing and we are enjoying it. I'm Adam Kaufman, Evan valenti back with us. And I don't know. Part time writer full time photographer, it's tough to tell when I'm looking at Instagram, but I know the man is very busy in both fields. Jared Weiss from the athletic. How are you? But that's always good to be here just to talk about my photography career. There you go. It's blossoming. It's blooming. You're doing well. Very artistic, I would say. Yeah, I don't really, I'm not one of those people that uses my IG to put crappy iPhone photos of Jayson Tatum at the podium. But stuff like that. I do it for my FUD. There you go. What's the pick?.

"Everybody welcome inside self and speed here this week, Kevin valenti with you, no Adam cough, but he's taking some time off. I believe with the family for the Thanksgiving holiday Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out there Adam should be back next week. So don't panic. We'll get back to normal, relatively soon, but of course, the Thanksgiving holiday. I decided, you know, if we can give Adam some time off, he's a busy guy, three kids, you know, a couple of dogs. You know, DraftKings, WBC, and this, you give him some time off, let him relax and get rejuvenated with the family. But Evans the likes of here with for the first time in the history of this show, in essence, Alex Francisco, Alex good morning. How are we doing? Hey, I'm doing well. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for having me. Appreciate the time. And we got a lot to cover on this show. And I was explaining to Alex before the show started. I kind of want to have some fun with numbers. Because I think you can tell a lot of stories about this team with numbers, spending what point of view you want to push, right? 20 games into the season 19 games in the season 20th game coming tonight. You can have this number this time, this, I'm gonna prove your point. There's numbers everywhere. So we're gonna try and make sense of all of that. And before we try and make sense, the southern season so far, Alex, one of the things that you do kind of like either on the side or as a project that you kind of push is you're into this at least what I can tell, it's like crypto NFT world. So what is an NFT? What crypto should I invest in? Give us all the plugs we need like right now, get off the top and I can get this anywhere else in terms of a Celtic shell for sure. Okay, I won't go too deep into it with you guys, but over the course of the pandemic, I spent some time in southern Florida with my grandmother just working from there since we couldn't be at games. And introduced to some people I made some friends down there that had totally given of their jobs and their careers to just kind of trade crypto or build decentralized apps and whatever the scene's huge down there. They kind of got me into it. Especially because it was at the same time NBA top shot was coming out. So I saw a lot of facets of the sports industry kind of experimenting in that and I had an interest at a level myself too so. It's just a niche. I kind of want to target just sports business in general and the direction it's going in investing, et cetera..

Ida Lashes Northeast With Tornadoes and Severe Flooding
"As we mentioned remnants of hurricane ida have been spawning heavy rain tornadoes and life. Threatening conditions in the mid atlantic northeast. A tornado warning was even posted here in new york city. Major highways are flooded with cars and buses trap and the subways are shutting down in what the national weather service says is the city's first ever flash flood emergency. Several large tornadoes were reported north of philadelphia and in south jersey. As we mentioned new jersey's governor phil murphy has just declared a state of emergency. Some neighborhoods had to be evacuated cars and buses there were stranded in floodwaters and now thousands in the region are without power earlier this afternoon. What twister roared through. Parts of annapolis maryland pulling down trees and power poles and in louisiana. Where this same storm system tore apart the state's power grid. Some low lying communities remain largely underwater. Many hospitals in the state are still running on generators and again today. The governor warned evacuated residents knocked comeback yet. The water system is really poor. Electricity is non-existent. Communications actually started getting a little bit better today. We have not figured out the fuel situation. Don't come back before the paris tells you that they are ready to receive you because you're just going to create another demand on a system that can't withstand the demand that currently has for more. We welcome to the broadcast joe. Valenti is the emergency management director for jefferson parish louisiana. Now take a look at this map. Jefferson parish stretches from new orleans the new orleans shoreline with lake pontchartrain. All the way down to grand isle in the gulf joe. Thank you for being with us. How are you faring. And how are the people in jefferson parish tonight. Well i mean. District type of circumstances are not really new to us but doesn't been difficult when he completely lost the grid one hundred percent of the power. So it's made it very difficult process to affect any rescues

"So talking about this roster, Max you brought up in a counter. Now, I like Evan. If Evan Valenti were here with us for this show. Evan was not excited about the the cancer re-signing said, I can't do anymore, enes Kanter minutes, you know after what he saw in Boston a couple of years back. I for one, you know at a certain point in time Max you look at roll. You look at salary, you look at all of it, you know putting a team together and enes Kanter for one year in the Veteran's minimum wage. What two point seven million dollars for what he can do off pensively for what he can do. As a rebounder. Yeah. It's not the best defensive player. He's not even a good defensive player. But for what he can do in those other areas and plus as a glue guy, a lock room, Gaya, podber teammate, all that when there was reported friction in the locker room. Tristan Thompson among others last season. To me. It's just such an easy value-add. It's such an easy value-add and if he's, you know, for for any reason unplayable in the mind of, who dhoka, because you need to crack down defensively and you just, you can't put them out on the floor, you don't? You don't because like you said, you got William shank. Well, you got a boyfriend and be off each X the boxes to me. Yeah, because you said, you know, just playing defense, maybe not have nothing but offensively getting second-chance opportunities. Tough off-set mean pics. Locker room guy, great guy. That really his teammates have been braced him. 2.7 million a note for for you. That's low peanuts. But oh, yeah, in that in that respect. I think it's a steel. Yeah, Springer. And he was already familiar with the guys who he he's playing with now in brown and Tatum. So I I love his pickup. I love the fact that you bring him in and said that you may be moved on. You know, the one guy I'm going to miss a little bit. It's going to be semi you shoot me over your way. Yeah, cuz I think he was With bands and everybody else. I think he was a little underrated because he was, he was solid. He was a solid Defender. We we we did. Mike do wage, didn't like the fact he was shooting threes all the time. We wanted them to go towards.

"In the past week since we record a show it began with Brad Stevens. Making the full trade of his time as president of basketball operations, Kemba Walker, sorry, love you mean it, but gone off to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Who, of course, probably will flip him somewhere else for more draft picks off. Al Horford back with Boston and plenty to get to their, obviously, the C's no longer have a first round pick in this draft number, 16 gone with Walker, a trade of second-round picks. And with hwoarang, Moses Brown coming on in, as well, hoping to parts of Defenders and continue to pile up games like he did against the Seas. When he went for twenty twenty earlier this season with Evan Valenti. I'm Adam Kaufman. The big news web that we will begin with and then we can Circle back to Walker and Horford and that swap new head coach. It's all done. It's not been officially announced as we sit here right now, but it is all done. We know what's going to happen. The 18th head coach in, Boston, Celtics, history in the man who is chasing Banner 18? Someone that you were very, very highly on all over social media and it shows past email, udoka comes in after nine years. As an assistant in the NBA, seven learning under future hall-of-famer Gregg, Popovich and of course after that, one year with the Sixers, most recently, one year with the Nets and that super team that I so passionately routed wage. Throughout this playoff run, they are all done as we go to the east and west finals. Now at this stage of June almost July, but the new head coach there are a lot of things to like here. I'll let you start what stands out well Boston's. Probably get back to the defense jobs. As that was one of the my biggest one of the biggest gripes. So exterior was how bad they were defensively. Just was a complete opposite of what they've been in the entire you know, Junior. Brad Stevens, notoriously, good defensive team. Regardless of whoever was tried it out there, they were an overachieving Bunch defensively. A lot of the time with smaller point guards all over the place would be camber. Isaiah Thomas, you know. Kyrie Irving. They've always been able to manage defensively in this year. Was a bad one defensively so they are going to get back to the defense of fruits doesn't shock me that Brad was looking for that cake guys. So at that particular point I'm just thrilled about a defensive coach then come in and maybe and tweak this team a little bit now we will see if the tweaks work you know, you look at a couple of things off. On the internet, you know, things were the bottom and a couple of defensive fix that he made, you know, to, to Philadelphia resulted in more turnovers, but it didn't really result in better defensive numbers so to speak. So we'll see if the personalities of Austin is a little bit better. A little bit different than it had in Philadelphia. I like that. Just to start. I like the fact that mister Gregg Popovich cloned or at clone believe, you know, disciple worked into that will see. If you know, took a look, you make the, the NFL comparison. Like Belichick coaching tree or the Andy Reid coaching tree or the Bill Parcells coaching tree, you know, Popovich's coaching trees had some success, had some not successful depends on, you know, where your at, your breath Brown, being some sort of maddening in between, right? So we'll see if email holds up on that end and I like, the fact, this guy's worked with a lot of different players. Often is a foreign player himself so you look at all the things that Boston was.

"Think the way that we have seen Kemba Play Over the month of April, and if he can bring that, if he can be 80% of the camera that we have come to expect, I think that that will be huge for this team going forward. And I am also optimistic like Evan said, the absence of Robert Williams has proven to be dead And even bigger issue than I think anyone had could have predicted just in the fact of what he was doing with that starting unit on offense, he was moving the ball and also not allow defense has to pack the paint because you have to draw Robert out of the paint or else you at least have to account for him cuz he will just come in behind you and dunk on your face. So for that it opens up a lot of things offensively and then defensively just to have a guy who can provide that kind of Rim protection and that kind of communication we hear from the assistant coaches. Just how much Rob has improved in communication job defensively. And so I do think that, that is a huge thing that is missing for this team right now. And then you add in the fact that yes, Evan Fournier is coming off a battle with covideo said, he didn't feel well for a 4 to 5 days and still trying to work his way back. I think there are areas to look to for positivity, but I agree with Evan that it's in this season. The fact that they can be so dead. And hide and look like two completely different teams. It's just frustrating and it and it's frustrating because of the expectations that are on this group and regardless of how many games they lose and how fast they come out over and over again, those expectations remain,

So laura is amazing catching up with you today after all this time and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us today in a bit about what you're doing and obviously for the work that you do if there was one thought that you'd like to leave people with today. What would it be. Because i keep it to one thought about trae if that's okay so number one embrace change like i'm naive hood it everyone's hood last year but it didn't stop last year with carbon. It's been going on for years and years every year. You have to stay up with the change of awadh gonna be left behind so don't be afraid of it. Embrace it the second thing i would say. It's tidily out of your comfort zone than you. Absolutely should give it a guard. Because if i didn't say yes to an opportunity that came to me up six years ago and i didn't stretch out of my comfort side to actually go forward and do it. "I don't want my taxes to be used for someone's castle. I asked her if she wasn't afraid, given the heavy police presence. They can't put everybody in jail. So there are many people and I don't think that we have enough jails to put everyone in there. So even as we were talking, there were arrests of protesters, including of Navalny's wife, Yulia. These protests were supposed to be nationwide Has the turnout been nationwide in Russia today? Yeah, it's been incredible, really. A wave of protests rolling across Russia's vast vastness beginning in the Pacific port of Vladivostok, seven times way, Uh, seven time zones away from Moscow and then just sweeping across Siberia. There are reports of protest from ST Petersburg and other large cities, but also from smaller provincial centers in central and southern Moscow. In southern Russia, where protests are very rare. I think what's important to note here is that Navalny is the first real national opposition leader. Three years ago, he was barred from running for president against letting their Putin but what he did succeed. What he did succeed in doing was opening campaign offices across the country. He traveled too far flung cities. And his following his national people following on Social Media TIC TAC in particular, right, there's been a big turnout of young people in Russia. Absolutely. I mean, Tic Tac has played a huge role because of Nirmala Valenti's following among young people, he speaks their language. He knows their means, and he's constantly putting out new content on social media. NPR's Lucian Kim in Moscow. Thanks so much for being with us. Thank.
