And there's training the night before, indications that they're stepping up the intensity of demonstrations in the fight against abortion rights. Access to the pill has become a key battle in abortion rights with the Biden administration preparing to argue states can't ban a medication that has received Food and Drug Administration approval. AP correspondent Ben Thomas reports. The use of abortion pills has been the most common method to end a pregnancy since 2000 when the FDA approved the main drug used to carry out the procedure. "7 New details are emerging in the aftermath of the deadly shooting at an elementary school in uvalde Texas which took the lives of 19 children into adults We now know it took law enforcement an hour after the rampage began to enter the school to confront the shooter Officers were there the initial officers they received gunfire they don't make entry initially because of the gunfire they received But we have officers calling for additional resources That's Victor escalon with the Texas Department of Public Safety ABC's chief investigative reporter Josh margolin was watching the briefing and spoke with Alex stone Josh what else are you learning now Look Alex I got to tell you the press conference added information but almost as this additional information came out it led to more and more questions We are seeing there appears to have not been any confrontation any ability to stop him as they were going into the school The director of the regional director of the Texas Rangers confirmed to us right at the top of this press conference that the door he accessed was not locked Now we've heard a lot of information about the fact that it was the end of the school year that there was an awards assembly It might have been an unusual day parents and visitors coming and going But the point is no security system in the world is not going to work if it's not engaged Why was the door unlocked Why was there this delay We heard about a gap in a response when the shooter crashes the vehicle that we've heard so much about And then there's 12 minutes and he climbs the fence and gets into the school Then we've heard about this period of time I mentioned at the top Alex there was this gun just flurry of gunfire And that may be the terrible terrible moment where most of the victims were injured Or killed And then there was this hour long wait But what was going on specifically what was going on Why was it going on And the most important question that even the Texas Rangers are acknowledging they can not answer yet We know that in American law enforcement in the last 20 years you run toward the gunfire because they know that active shooters will not stop until they're stopped And so why did these police officers not run towards the gunfire Nobody wants to blame anybody but 19 children to teachers They are gone And the answer is just are not available yet ABC's chief investigative reporter Josh margolin speaking with Alex stone stay with northwest news radio for the very latest on the uvalde Texas elementary school shooting As reaction to the Texas school shooting tragedy continues the head of Washington school says instead of debating the politics of gun regulation there are better questions to ask Brian Calvert has more State school superintendent Chris rachal said to ask yourself do I really need a gun in my home accessible to young people and if I believe I do need a gun how can I secure it more effectively At school he says there are security measures in place And is still exceedingly rare but we are trained now to respond as a bit like this Earlier this week top and a superintendent John cerna and representative Brad Clifford suggested now is the time to ask teachers to arm themselves Response There is no way that you're going to ask a fourth grade teacher to suddenly respond and take down an active shooter with any reasonable expectation that's going to happen well What will happen though is those guns will sit in schools and get used and abused and unfortunately stolen Brian Calvert northwest used radio Your stock charts dot com money update on northwest news radio There's the Friday.
