Brett was saying, I mean, you know he was, he showed up in a time when jeopardy was really being You know, they were digging the grave for it. You know what I mean? And the reality is that he brought it life and life for 37 seasons. Is not where I write 37 years anywhere the seven years since 1984 and there's a great story about you know everybody when they would see Alex Trebek would try to stump him because he was the guy who carried all the answers right? And apparently he was in this restaurant one time and somebody walked up the one who said the American flag flies here 24 hours a day every day of the year. Yeah, without missing a beat, Alex Trebek said. What is the moon? Oh, yeah, Perfect. He could. He could ride the contestants when they didn't seem to like. Get with the program at some 00.2 is sort of Ah, fun football. 200. Your choice. Do or don't name this play in which the quarterback runs the ball and confused to pitch it to another back. "Let's look at the $1000 clue just for the fun of it. As Minneapolis's US Bank stadium prepares to host super bark that goes on, it goes out, but he it really is he was, He seemed sort of sober, sided as a game show host like not always looking to wisecrack. Yes, he would still have his shots. And I think that's what made those those moments so special because he took it so seriously that yeah, it would just be the slightest little question or little jibe. And it would bring you to a laugh. No Canadian of him very Canadian right anywhere, and he was born in Canada and the reason why he got into broadcasting in his early shot was he worked for the Canadian broadcast Corporation because he grew up in a bilingual home and because of that, they gave him more shifts, which really kind of led to his career. On jeopardy, which is really neat. But I love the way that New York Times wrapped up their memorial of Alex Trebek, and they write a man who holds the answer to every single trivia question. But not to the great final question of death. And yet He keeps showing up anyway, reading his clues and giving us every last answer. He can Special Alex Trebek was 80. Yeah, yeah, really, really missed And just because everyone is talking about it. And we have to finish up, but sure they're talking about Ken Jennings. Maybe being replacement. But there are other other replacements being kicked around to Ben Mankowitz from TCM. Ah, I think he'd be a great great host. And then other jeopardy champions. You know who might come back and host a show. But there's such a culture within The subculture of jeopardy that you have to sort of respect that fan base as you make that decision exactly anyway, said Alex Trebek, finally losing his battle to Kent with cancer at 80. Thank you, Brett. Sad task, but well done Those of the obituaries. Right. Burkhart's obituaries.

S. bank stadium are planning now that that could be a coincidence who knows they put up ice sculptures all the time in cars in the Twin Cities there's a baby to us no sculpture out there I think I've seen baby Otis coming we don't know I don't know I thought I saw a dragon the other day I was that mean that we're going to be invaded by dragons we don't know but this only a develops further because if you were to investigate the rolling stones official Twitter account they have a tweets that the two to twenty three hours ago and all it says is feeling restless and it's accompanied by a gift of well looks like for what looks like a farm land a train so potentially implying maybe a midwestern states that they will be that will be visiting and then a big light up a Rolling Stone mouth in the sky in that yet so between that that tweet and what can be found at the idea center right now and this pending announcement that we of course we will update our listeners on Thursday I think the stones are come to town Donna I think this is a show that I have to buy

Does she speak like that? All right, Michelle. All right here. We we gotta get Michelle if you are driving in rush hour words have words. Okay. Look, so I was on my way in today here to mytalk, and that was when the weather is still really nice. And this is a testament to why we can't have nice weather here in the twin cities. So as I'm driving in. I look to lanes over and I see a green car, and I see what I believe the windows are down because windows. This weather's nice. I see what I presumed was going to be a hand holding a cigarette out the window. And I as I caught up to the car, I realized that it was not a hand. It was a foot. Holding a cigarette out. Hey, barefoot out the driver's window now. The fact one I'm not completely feet. But I'm enough. But you have a sensitivity. We'll call a sensitivity to others. I was gonna say you're not on the foot spectrum. You're not quitting Tarantino foot love. No. But you're not just like heinous foot. Hey, correct. So I know that I am I should not have to consider this a pet peeve. But the fact that I see it happen often enough that you as a driver should not have your barefoot out the window. More than one steering with the speech. He had he was kind of doing this whole leg across the thing. So he's steering with his hands. And then put out I don't care what tantric stuff you do in your spare time by limber. I don't care. Your foot should not be out the window when you were driving on highway ninety four this year. Planed, shannon. Try to recreate right here. What are you doing? And I want to be able to say, I've only this is the first time I've ever experienced a foot out the window. It is not. And this is why we can't have nice weather here in the twin cities because we clearly do not know how to use that appropriately. Just because the weather's nice does not mean that you have your barefoot out a car window. What are we doing? How many Jimmy Buffett albums? Have you listened to infected with Margaret when you're in driving? And I know that this person is probably stuck in traffic right now. So that means that they're stuck in in bumper to bumper traffic, and Netflix is right next to somebody's car that damn songs called cheeseburger in paradise. Not barefoot. Crouse is the fact that the driver, oh that was doing that Shannon, completely boggles my mind I have seen people put their bare feet on the dash. "And welcome back courtside here with US Bank stadium and welcome back for more SMI from Minneapolis. Well, we got the second game tomorrow. It's Michigan state than ever to see and Texas Tech three seat. And it's led by its third year. Head coach that bring crispier once over seventy one percent of his games are his total NCAA record in ten games. He's won eight. He's done quite well, and he's taken Texas Tech to its first ever appearance in the final four, and he took some questions in here. Some open comments we met as a team this morning. It's all the guys if it doesn't fill the different today than it did yesterday leading up till tomorrow. Then we're not ready in. Everybody's share me that it did. So we're just excited about the opportunity to me personally this open practices. This is kind of sacred. I grew up in coaching coming to these is the one part of the final four that. I've never missed. I'd come to all four practices set their mccutchen, friends and in watch the Michigan state's North Carolina's two dukes, the Kansas is of the world of college basketball and dream of being here. So it's here, and I tend to have a great time here at our fifty minute practice today. We'll get shots up and try to enjoy the moment. Honda carpenter was sparked nation dot com. Coach your team plays incredibly intensive on defense, which is something. Michigan state likes to do. Is it fun to be able to most teams just don't play with intensity? You do on that side of the ball. Is that a fun challenge to play someone who has the same commitment that you do? That's a great name Hongo. Have you ever heard from Lucan combat Texas? I've got three daughters, but always said about his son on Honda, actually girls. Didn't know that. Just to be mentioned in the same question. Or a statement with our defense in Michigan state's a huge compliment for our program. Yes, we try to guard at a high level. It's been the identity of our teams at all different levels and now currently at Texas Tech. But it's something that we try to recruit two we certainly coach emphasize it and. He's just always kind of our belief about the ball in as a reinforced by coach night on those years under him. Just getting to know coaches over the last couple of days have been pretty cool. Hispasat? He's talking about his relationship with coach Heathcote and the defense and things like that. So I don't think people times at challenging not really. I mean good players want to be coached good players want that trust factor. And I think what she explained the guys. This is why we do the things we do. And this is what defense can lead to once they kind of visualizing interested. How important is it becomes everybody's identity. But I think Michigan state's one the best defensive teams in college basketball as they are every year to me it's much more than just the rebounding. It's the positioning in the gaps in the toughest the middle. Toughest the lack of mistakes the players playing roles the rim protection. It's one of the best shot blocking teams had calls basketball. But they do it by committee. So Michigan state. We have a lot of respect for obviously. But their defense is at the top list of reasons why. In the center toward the front. Hey coach Eddie pepper from WW. Mt. In Kalamazoo, Michigan Saturday. My name's not Honda Honda actually asked part of what I wanted to ask. I'll take it a step further you've bidden glowing in your reverence for coaches. Oh, and I just wanted you to touch on that a little bit more about the respect you have for him. And why there's a lot of great coaches out there. But what is it about Tom Izzo that resonates with you so much? What these three things, you know, talking to people that know coach and kind of studying and reading the books and articles like everybody, you know, I I'm. I'm. One hundred percent that this is a coach. It hasn't changed from what he's a high school coach when assistant coach graduate assistant than assistant now head coach and then NCA coach national championship coach Naismith hall of fame. Coach he hasn't changed. Everybody around him says he's the same old coach Phil that coaching. We're kind of a fraternity we spent APRIL's together in July's. And you might run into somebody at a rental car counter or a gym or, you know, one time at the peach jam they got one row at shares court three, and I just happened to be sitting somewhere. And then you you're sitting next to a coach's, oh, he obviously will not remember the story. But I do and he's just a guy. You know? He's he's personable is nice. He treats everybody, regardless of what a guy shirt says the logo on the shirt to me just kind of goes out of his way. He's a coach's coach helps coaches. So that's the first thing obviously on the basketball court. You know, everybody has an idea kind of the way the games played in the wake Michigan state plays. Exactly how I kinda visualize the game, you know, defense tough. Finis they have an identity coaches guys hard, but you can tell he loves us guys. And they love him their relationship pieces there. Have a lot of respect for their program. Upfront to the left Brian Chris Bryan Hamilton from the athletic, basketball wise. What are the biggest Bob? Knight influences on you. Preparation which ought to get our guys prepared. I think respecting every single opponent. The biggest game he plays the next game on a schedule. A girlfriend rainy somebody else created today. How big a game it was when we like playing Gonzaga. And she said it feels like just like it did opening night against corner word, and that's exactly right. Tell us the next game on a schedule is the most important game learned from coach night the ability to bounce guys back into play pretty quickly. If we had some success coach would he would homo pretty quick. Let's get back to work if we came up a little bit short it bang up a little bit. But we were always ready to play the next game. I never saw one loss turn into two losses with coach night player development getting guys better to so many things but coach night literally pretty much, you know, maybe most aspects of our program today. He influences in some way. Yeah. Kevin Brockway, Indiana sports coach when you look at the guard talent in the wing talent threat this final four including charcoal. How does that speak to maybe the game evolving over the last decade in terms of smaller lineups and a lot of guards threat this final four. Yeah. I think obviously guards have been a big part of basketball forever. And certainly in today's game. You can I think it's just more versatility on the floor. I've never, you know, we're small college in Little Rock with small ball. Maybe cakewalk at those six eight six nine guys he tried to play different positions, certainly in the NBA, Golden State kind of transform this college basketball. We'd studied Villanova's teams forever. And I thought it was small ball until we went out there last year in the elite eight in Boston. It was not small all these guys were six nine six ten they could just dribble passes shoot. And some people say it's small ball. So, but I still think there's a place in college basketball for the big guy hit Michigan state, certainly is you know, three three or four that we've got a lot of respect for an even on our team. We're not here today if not for north we're not here today, if it's not for Tariq. And but I think guards get a lot of attention in college basketball. But I think it's it's still, you know, you gotta. Have some play around the basket to advance. So there you go some of the thoughts of crispier day. Coach at Texas Tech team is made the final four team won thirty games team does pick seventh season in its conference. So I guess they sorta shot at said preseason projection team that was projected to win the big ten regular season was Michigan state, and it was inferred dogfight. And maybe the biggest obstacle for Michigan state. This year wasn't so much position. Which there was a lot of ad old. Man injury made it to task to get here. A little interesting when we come back with more of SSN live from Minneapolis. We're going to hear what head coach Sam is about is a hip to the final four and the team that brought him the first break right here. Spread network. This is where the temperatures are unkind. So it's you're right. There's a lot of things at play with that in. We do have to do a lot of educating people, but we also just try to keep tabs on like what's cool in new. You know, like, what are the sorts kind of really fun because you're sort of sort of being like social all the time, which then makes me go home and like sit in the dark room alone. Like six hours after that. So so like recharged. I know that feeling yes. So let me just in the last ten years have been really exciting in the changes. Ray you got the new stadium. You've got the X games. You've got the Super Bowl. You've got the final four. You've got all these new housing on the east side and like hotels new hotels and target center. Getting revamped and new restaurants and things all that stuff and Danes project and only adding Nikolic, redone, right? So still challenges are still challenges. Right. So it seems like there's so much more to even promote right? Like, it's interesting. 'cause like when we look things often like the Super Bowl and the final four like those things were booked and secured before US Bank stadium was even done reality started being built. So, you know, it's an interesting process that my colleagues worked through when they're in trying to secure a bid on things that we don't know what things will be like in four or five six years as. We're working on the bed. So like, we just secured the women's final four and twenty twenty two, you know. Yeah. In two thousand nineteen like things are great. But actually twenty eighteen when that happened. But you know, you don't do just don't know what's going to happen yourself now. So you're kind of guests to mating on on how that stuff I'll works. But yes, certainly, Minneapolis. I think has seen a huge disconnect. Insert of really cool things. I went to school the UA graduated. Let's debatable when I graduated with two thousand and I remember like all these big empty lots that you would tailgate in and you know, everything was barn, especially on like, Washington avenue. And that is so different from from. What's there now? And you know, there's forty thousand people who live downtown like our goal is to increase that, you know, it's basically its own neighborhood, you know, down here, and the thing that is really attractive about Minneapolis to his walkability, especially the downtown core rate, you have twi-. Twins the twins ballpark. Target center. You've got so target field. Target center in US Bank stadium, the convention center hosts a ton of sporting events to and all the hotels, so everything you can get to either my skyway or by street. And it's you know, a compact what life is like two mile radius easily you can walk from one end together. And so that is super attractive to those types of large events because they can kind of keep everybody in a confined space. You don't have to like get on. Shuttles to drive six miles out to the stadium. That's in the middle of nowhere. So that's kind of cool..

"It took a while to find four scooters we found some, you know, we got the after bring you to them, but we can't find four that we're close and then sometimes they were broken like one was broken half. And so it took a little while. And then my scooter, I'm the heaviest I'm one hundred ninety pounds. But it I was like pushing it up the hill and thank all and the rest of my family is way in front of me. And so I'm getting this big workout. And you know, it was it was fine. But I wasn't completely satisfied. Okay. You know, what you should reach out to the mobility manager. Yeah. Everybody. Everybody should reach out to the advanced mobility manager, Josh Johnson because I doubt he has much to do. Tell me how I. Thanks for your call Graham, nineteen thousand dollars. That's just seen. Really, it's gross shower. Now, it's awful. Coming up next. We got to touch upon the curtains the black the the the blackout curtains for the for US Bank stadium because there there's one there's one particular thing in the story. It's just kinda thrown in there that needs to have a little bit of discussion surrounding it. Then we will we will answer the big question of why does the federal government have one point four billion pounds of American cheese stockpiled? You're listening to.

"Demolished by I guess that was the Calvin Johnson lions, just like torture. Eric grow over and over. It was it was very bad high member after that game. And just being so depressed that evening because I was kind of pretty much the end of the chip Kelly era, you kinda ended right there. They just getting killed by the boss the couple days before that on Thursday that thanksgiving, and at that point it was pretty clear like this wasn't getting turned around like this was kind of the end there. And you pressing you were so you were so depressed, you only had three thanksgiving dinners that well, you know, you see that. I went out to wa that night late that night. And I it was a lot of emotional eating going on just ordered like the had one of everything from Walla the entire store. And yes, so that was that's what I think of when I changed eagles buying on thanksgiving. Although the year before they did beat the Cowboys. And that was a lot of fun. I did I it very much enjoyed that one. So I don't know it's still too early. Obviously to say if this is actually gonna happen. There was that speculation last year that us we're gonna have the home opener. Against the Vikings in that did not turn out to be true. So it just kinda, you know, it's not finalized right now in in the NFL schedule doesn't come out until mid-april officially so still have probably two months to find out. This is to or not. But assuming it is kinda like it not crazy about working on the skiving, although known hears about that. So that's not a real factor. Any on other than me? But I think it can be fun. I mean, we all know Kirk cousins just loved the show a big in primetime games. So you're gonna get a great effort at him in that one. I just think it would be a great way though, seriously for the eagles to add to that list of moments of them. Just embarrassing the Vikings, which they pretty much been doing since the same Braford trait. You know, you look down the list that that trade look at obviously beating them in Tampa into game and then winning the Super Bowl in their own stadium. And by the way, that's. What this game would be. It'd be eagles first game back at US Bank stadium since they won the Super Bowl that would be kinda fun to. Yeah. I don't know. I think it'd be a fun match up. I definitely feel like you know, we should get that game. Probably in a primetime game, especially because you know, the have the big win in two thousand and seventeen than the Vikings come back and win almost like it looks so meaningless. Now did the Vikings really get their revenge in that game after racket how? Thing. Yeah. Joked seventeen so I would like to see that matchup. Yeah. I would too. And I the more I think about it. I always liked the prime time games because it generally happen after my kids have gone to bed, and I can actually sit down and watch a game uninterrupted, which is not something. I get to do on Sunday afternoons most of the time, I'm kind of peaking at the game in between running around and playing up after them. And is that are watching the game afterwards on on the NFL game pass. And when I can finally sit down to myself, and you know, have an hour and a half to to watch the game on the replay. But yeah, I'm all I'm all in favor of the nationally televised nighttime games. Because usually that's the only time I can sit on my couch with a beer or two and just actually watch a football game unencumbered. So I'm all for it. Absolutely. And most of the family will be out of the house by that point..

"Day after the Super Bowl the biggest call in sick day. What were involved? Bird or Budweiser flu. That's right. That's what am I just a regular person out on Twitter? Ville said the puppy bowl halftime show with Peruvian five was superior. Adam feeling was great for me. Meows like Jaeger. That's. So suddenly pops with. Adam, Adam, Adam LeVine. Yes. So I took the liberty yesterday of just texting to see if he would answer. And he did what you say about the whole experience and I texted beforehand and said, good luck. I can't leave you get to do this. I'll be watching have fun have a blast. I didn't expect anything back. Right. He fired right back and was like we're going to kill it. You're gonna be so surprised right. And he's like, oh my God. So great, right. So that it happens. And I'm watching it happen. And I'm watching the half the show. I'm even a little bit more excited because they just talked to him, right? Sure. Friends. And he's like he's not usually doesn't answer very quickly. Anyway, then afterward. Oh, some watching it. I'm like, oh my God. He's he's nervous. Like, so what I know? But most people think that he was on engaged or couldn't sing and you could see him like not be able to breathe. So then I took the liberty to ask him because I will always have a soft spot in my heart for bands and acts that get to do that. Because I can't I can't imagine how nerve wracking that my right to perform in front of all the people. Yes. And he was dumbfounded at how nervous he got. He's he's oh cocky. Wish he'd watched prince perform. Thousand any of the other people wasn't bringing anything. Breath the way dole he subsidies breath away. He forgot his blocking. You can actually see it happen. We watched like he couldn't remember where he was supposed to go for a couple of the plane office clothes, and that wasn't planned. And he was so I just took my shirt off. And I thought it would just an things up to the next level. And he had that because he had four layers on the trench. He started then it went down to track suit jacket, then to the tank that looks like my. We should we posted that. And then to finally all of you all of us seen his stats, and people were just going crazy. The Janet Jackson guy in so much trouble for a flash shirtless. Well, there is a difference. Rush. Clutching the pearls over, you know. You got nervous use. He seemed very uncomfortable so uncomfortable. You're so fine. Then on a big stage and not Adam LeVine. But that that is the worst feeling she's singing the national anthem when you go out there in front of all those people in US Bank stadium, and there sixty thousand people and all of a sudden, you can't breathe like it is the worst feeling as a humane. Let alone singer. Get nervous because he realized that starting the show with the song. That's become elevator music. That's how it is. It's not it hasn't aged that. Well, I mean, unless you were in college or dating somebody went songs about Jane came out it started out flat. Like I would asserted with well a bigger bay of a song. I think that's also on purpose. If you watch. You know, even a lot of tourists that come through they'll do that. And it's surprising on you're like, what are you doing? And it's that same acclamation factor. I call it where I just did a show in front of five thousand people on Friday night, and I went out there. And then we have a big opening to it. And I lost my mind. I couldn't breathe, and I was so nervous and people were yelling. And I was like, and I it sucked. So the amp up factors. I think is probably what he was going for ease into this. And then. And he's still was nervous. He couldn't sing. He couldn't like I couldn't find a pitch to say on right? Breathe. I was out of my mind. And I always. From then I always want to say it. What do you think? He's staying off Twitter. Okay. I bet he's not looking at a Hollywood was like people were it was unfortunate. Because you know, I do like that first song is saying we're Laurie does get. I know. But he was just like he looked uncomfortable. And I love it that he just was finally let me just take army close because he was going to have something capper neck. Yeah. Kind of what I was expecting when suddenly. Can we see your back? Is there a message somewhere? Right. What am I missing? I was I was thinking more to the joining us. We've kept Perkins with us. And she, of course, was famously on atoms team on the voice, and we're talking about her pre and post performance conversations with her best friends, Adam LeVine, and the fact that he did that with me was amazing and frame to just be candid with little old me from Minneapolis to say is nervous. Donc, and I lost my mind. And I again, I wanted to say was welcomes what happens on the voice, by the way. So every week. That's exactly he's judging people on the voice when he like, Casey. Me. He goes they must do a lot in the studio with his voice because this sound anything like the his true. But. Pitch at the very beginning. You couldn't he said. I mean, he couldn't hear a thing that was happening. But but also. Yeah, I mean, I think that everyone's I'm even doctorate in the studio a little bit. I get some help thing. This show was fitting for the Super Bowl inside the bland oatmeal. That has no nuts. No reason and no Brown sugar. There was one. So. Are.

Yeah. It costs you just nine dollars. That's perfect. I would take a souvenir appear. And there was no it wasn't even a souvenir. Beer up. US Bank stadium. Moves a regular beer. I'm like, I pay that.
