"Got my living expenses of over nine months. Plus, I've got fully investing into my retirement account through work. I am. Um I've got a good chunk of money set aside or my sons, you know that story of them? The crossroad is my my son, who is a senior this year for the longest time, I thought he was going to be going into the military. So you know, I pulled back a little bit on what I was putting into his college account. After Kobe yet really there were two things that I did. We actually took advantage about time and I had him go through your total money Makeover book, But I also had to do your 13 week High school course. And in doing that, it was really and he ended up actually getting a little side job. And it's It's interesting. He became really kind of Ah, Davor and disciple. So here's my problem work. We're out of work. He he now knows that he doesn't want to go the cold ground, which is going to military. I'm trying to figure out whether to go the juke around. Financial focus or to go before your route at a local state college. I just don't know how much I should pay you. That's that's kind of where I'm at right now in that college decision, Okay? Hey, don't have the money, though. No, absolutely. How would he have got probably All that because I know you. You are a opportunity about not taking out loved us is my understanding. Yeah, As much as we can know, Perry period under no circumstances do we take a statement? Ludicrous. You said, fully funding your retirement work. What percentage of your income household income is going into retirement. 15% okay? And what's your household income? Hundreds. North 160 on then medical sales so good you could do a little bit higher. Now that I'm living on my base and I usually invest my my How much money is in the air? How much money set aside for the three boys and what ages are the other two? 90 total 30 each and each of the accounts my oldest 17 middle 15, Youngest is 12. Okay, so it sounds like this kid's got 30 to $50,000. You can get his hands on from you out of that account. And then you're gonna use your incredible income to beef up the other two before they get to college. That's what I've got, and I'm a single income family. So it's like that The other thing is my wife. Going the direction of getting a side jobs. We'll have to travel a lot. So it's until this point. She stayed home with the kids. It was just trying to figure out Not that you make enough money to pull this off. You make enough money. Pull us off. So here's what we're going to be alright? We all we're doing is what you do with medical sales. We're just going to set some goals and put some numbers to him and create a budget. Okay, so he wants to get a four year degree and he wants to study. What Business and you're in college. You're in Dallas, Texas. So you have you have University of Texas Dallas campus available, right? Yep. And you have What else in Dallas available with a variety of different state schools around out there? I mean, we're looking at those. We're also looking at. You know, Arkansas o year you There's no point in looking at those. You don't have the money. You don't have the money for a four year out of state tuition. We have 50,000 bucks. And your cash flow in the rest out of 160 income. You can't afford to sign up for a $260,000 arrangement. Run a budget out on you'll see what I'm talking about. So I don't know that. That's why I need to talk about that saying when you when you were in, you know what to do numbers, I mean, just sit down and When what you haven't done is you haven't taken the concept of out of state and actually put math to it yet. When you do, you'll puke. You'll just throw up in the floor. Yeah, and that's and that's the that's where we're at right now. So he he's not going out of state. He's going in state, so he's going to be easy to go hook them horns or being Aggie. And he may live at home the first year or two. And university Texas Dallas. That's not juco. That's four year. Yeah, but it didn't go that route. If you want to go in cheaper, you could go to a community college for two years and make sure that those particular Ah credits transfer But what a University of Texas I Ah ah, An Aggie degree and am degree are fine universities. Employable anywhere in the world with a business degree from either one of them. And they're 1/4 of the cost of your going across the state line and having what might even be a lesser education. 1/4 My guess is your annual tuition if he moved all the way to Austin. And lived on campus, not counting little room and bored. I'm guessing, but I would say University, Texas probably 12, maybe 13 grand a year. Situation. Tuition alone versus 25 Authority got exactly one because you want to know if your University of Tennessee, the other UT, you could come up here and it's a great business degree is Foreman came from, But you're going to pay for X for it because it's out of state, and it's not worth paying that. Yeah. There's one you didn't get anything except across the state line in a different color Orange That's all you got. And so you know, what we're doing here is we're trying to pay for education at a good education at a good value. And so I think he's at home the first year, maybe two. At Dallas, and he's going to university, Texas Dallas I assume they haven't extension campus there. Ever since the beginning that profit I be shocked if they don't but Something like that. Ah, And then or I don't care if you send him to Austin, But you're just you're picking up room and board for a freshman. And you don't get anything there, but room and board. It does not increase the quality of the education. Living in a dorm is somewhat like living in a prison. You know what? It's not. It's not. It's nothing glamorous about it. So you know you're not getting the whole thing is what is the important ingredient in these dollars and cents discussions? It is the tuition. To the University for the education. The other all the other money. Doesn't matter. It doesn't do anything for his future. Whether you live on campus off campus with you on the meal plan, not on the meal plan with your in the dorm. All that stuff is just crap. It has nothing to do with feeding your brain. It just feeds your body and keep your head from getting wet. Your brain is what we're trying to grow. That's what the degree is for me. This is where we've lost. And you're you're doing really smart here by asking about this, Jack, But people in America this is where we've lost our way on education. Is we spend more on the college experience than we do on the education. Did you hear me say that? So hold on, Jack. I'm going to send your fabulous young man. A copy of Anthony O'Neill's book number one bestseller, Debt Free degrees. My gift. I'm honored to have him. Listener now. And I think he's going to do great things. And I think the two of you together can make some really wise decisions. No debt. Choose a budget that you can cash flow with 50 of the 90 and out of your pocket..
