"A Hall of Famer. He's a six time world champion, and he's also the hosts of season number two of straight up, Steve Austin Stone cold Steve Austin joins us this morning Stone cold. Good Morning. Good morning. Man Beyond wrestling. You got a background of sports. You got a scholarship to play football North Texas back in 1985, and I have to say Was digging through the treasure trove of videos. I was reaching out to people that I know with the with the archives, and I couldn't find clips of you. Do you know where I can find highlights of stone cold in North Texas? Man. I just worked on the project where they've got one play of you paint playing defensive, and it made a good play getting up too tight and make it a tackle. That's gonna be coming out here pretty quick, But yeah, You know what There was just filming gave films back in the day when I was playing, You know, two years of junior college in Tears at North Texas State went there's a linebacker blew up bass yellow kickoff coverage We have done all season, came back my senior season and played All, uh, 11 or having the games you played started that weak side defensive end and I'll tell you what, man. I was good enough. They were division to back in there now Division one, nor Texas State or university, North Texas and It was a fun experience. But you know what I had. I had dreams of being a pro football player, but just couldn't quite make the grade by a long shot on that, man. So there is gold out there. There's one play one play that has survived the 35 years, huh? That captures you on film. Yeah. I didn't. I was good. I was a good player. That's a local or regional level. Beyond that, man. Those guys have too much talent. In the eighties in Texas in college football. That's the S M u days. That's the Pony Express days. That's everything is happening. How was how was the lifestyle and the cultural play in Texas college football in the eighties? Yeah, well, you know, I was in North Texas state, You know, I guess it's hell. The Southwest Conference was still intact under when I graduated from high school, my dad, you split Rice University and he played and I don't think was 1958 Cotton Bowl and scored right. She's only touched down in the 21 7 lost two Navy. So he took me to Houston, and he was trying to get rice to take me on. But they wouldn't But you know the football scene and Texans was no different then than it is now it's still a hotbed. High School of J C to college. I mean, that is, ah, very big part of what's going on in Texas. Football. Stone cold Steve Austin joins us this morning on the show. It's so true, it's a religion and it's amazing to watch it grow like that, from the grassroots level was your high school experience that classic Friday night Lights Texas High School football experience. All, man. Absolutely. I was fortunate enough to make the varsity team is a sophomore has running back and we went to the semifinals and got beat by team down there in South Texas. I think corn, Isabel put it on our ass. And then we make it to regionals. Where would the playoffs each one of my years? But we couldn't quite make it to state. A got dang man. Little kind of end of 5000 people. We were back in. That stadium every single Friday. It was a sell out, no matter where no matter where we went, and you know, God Day we played hard and we gave him the house. That's pretty awesome. North Texas Dallas Fort Worth and North Texas in general has produced so many wrestling legends, the undertaker and Shawn Michaels and Hacksaw Jim Duggan amongst so many others. What do you think it is about North Texas? That's kind of hot, but it's kind of like Western Pennsylvania for quarterbacks. North Texas creates the legendary wrestlers. Well, you know, you left out the Von Air should probably the most famous resident family out of Texas. And even over the entire, you know, Genre. Professional Russian monarchs were superstars. I'll never forget when I was a junior and senior at North Texas State, 1 30 miles from Dallas, Texas, so I would ride down to the sport of time on Friday nights. The live show on Saturday mornings on the TV tapings and me and my buddies were sit out there and drink Baird yell at the restless and throw stuff out of it. God. A man with a Texas put out. A lot of great pro wrestlers of the extent of Minnesota did, uh, so did, uh, whether you can id our Calgary without a lot of good ones. Protections is right there in the thicket pecs. No doubt about it Straight up. Steve Austin Season number two is back on U S. A. And it's a really cool serious because you talk to celebrities, athletes, etcetera, but you don't do it in a normal standard. Sit down scenario, like on a couch. You actually go out to do activities with them. And so you're in the You're in the feel of doing things and then you're kind of exploring their life and career. Do you like that? That kind of project better than the traditional sit down on the couch and do a one on one. Yeah. You know what I do kind of a traditional one on one with my broken skull sessions that are doing the deputy head of the network, And I love that. And I love that format. But because I love being outdoors so much I love hunting and writing my side by sides and stuff like that. I love driving vehicles. I love to be behind the wheel of something, whether it's whether it's on land or in the water, So this show was right up my alley and you get a chance to do some kind of driving thing where you're talking to him and in some type of activity, what you're usually turn into a challenge. When you get something, you know there's a lot of things going on. You're trying to facilitate a conversation, Get their story and doing activity, man. Your your mind just going, But you know you're just relying on instincts and you're flying by the seat of your pants. That's what I like. I don't like to remember anything. And that's what I love about this show. I ain't gotta remember anything. I just have to put it out there and respond accordingly. Yeah, you're reacting right? You're getting information and you're reacting to it and Maybe it's a bit of an obtuse connection, but it's kind of like playing. Football is kind of like playing sports. You're just reacting to whatever you have, and you're gonna be on your toes. That's gotta be exhilarating at times, right? Well, it is. I was talking about 30 yesterday and we were. He was asking me about it. I said, you know what Booker's just kind of like, because you remember Booker T from Texas as well, you know. Uh, I said, it's just like having a match. You're going out there. You're doing something to elicit a response from our crowd. In this case of response from the person I've been I'm interviewing and As they say, kind of it in London and the comedy world or the the World of Ad Lib. Yes, and so hopefully always I'm there with something to say, too. You know, When I give me an answer, I could respond accordingly at all times together and make sense. So there's a lot of things that go into it, and they surrounded with an outstanding team and the show takes takes all day to film. And it's the pastor's half hour show on TV, and I have an absolute blast making it and you could tell me thinking it because I'm laughing my ass off. That's awesome. Coming up straight up. Steve Austin sees number two coming up on Monday, January the 11th on Monday 11 P.m., Eastern Time and Pacific on USA Network..

"K F 24 hour news from LAPD officers expected. Get there. First. Covert 19 vaccine shots by mid to late next month and hundreds of truckers are backed up for about 30 miles at the English Channel after the border was shut down because of this new strain of the coronavirus. France partly opened up its border back again. But the truckers have been stuck there for days, and Democrats are holding a vote in the house this morning over President Trump's demand to increase direct payments from $600 to 2000 for the bipartisan approved covert relief bill that was passed on Monday at 5 50 this morning, we're going to talk to a B, C's and Containment guy, Jason Nathan Seuin about these bunch of new movies that are out just in time for the big holiday. You know Russia, Shawn? No. Now there you go closer than I thought You'd appreciate that. Eric on dad at 605 handles here handles. Gonna talk about the chances that President Trump will have his veto of the National Defense Authorization Act over ridden is that a veto proof will find out the next couple days, along with the other things he's threatening to do right now it is, do we have? Ah, ABC is Brad Garrett with us and Brad first we have we hear about the Russia hack. I'm sorry. This is a we got Jim Ryan. Oh, there we go. Yeah. Michael's way. Go ahead. I was get it. Right. How you doing, sir? I'm good. Yeah, I'm looking here at the college enrollments, which have dropped off dramatically, obviously because of covert 19. But they've been dropping off precipitously before that, even for the last decade or so. Even you remember after the big recession in 2000 and 2009 Junior college and, you know, two year college institutions they were seeing their enrollments rises. People were coming in trying to change their careers. Get some training, too. To go into a different career path because they lost their jobs in the recession. Well, certainly college administrators air hoping the same thing happens this time, But for right now, it's just a really dire situation. Postsecondary enrollments dropped off 2.5% in the fall of this year. It's twice the rate of enrollment decline reported in the fall of last year. So you can see the line is Is dropping off and getting very steep at this point, Michael Well, one more Maura's The cost of secondary college education just keeps going out Astronomically. I've got a friend who works at Duke University has been there for a little over a year now, and I was asking him how the school is doing covert wise and how much the school has been affected financially and and so on. And he says Duke, obviously because it being one of the acceptance is just being one of these gigantic schools with a lot of dona donors from the past, and they say they'll be okay. Not necessarily the case for the lot of these smaller schools that aren't the size of a major one like Duke or USC, right? Oh, absolutely. Yeah, those. Those schools are having problems. Those in the outlying areas. Maybe not Duke or UNC, And you know the big colleges like that? But even in California, you're seeing applications for financial aid, dropping off by about 16% That's among high schoolers who plan to graduate this year or in the 2021. And would like to go on to college shit. But you're right. It's just become untenable to be able to afford it for a lot of these kids, and unfortunately, my collective it's a death spiral, so fewer kids enroll in college. Means to the revenues for those colleges drop off. They have to raise tuition rates. That means fewer kids can apply because they can't afford it. So it's really a difficult situation. They're trying to work with then pandemic on top of that, with the Democrats in control, at least through the White House. We don't know yet about Senate and a couple weeks but a lot of the talk. It's been out there from progressives, a lot of jealousy and such is speaking of debt forgiveness, especially for colleges. How much do schools are schools pushing back against That How much does that affect them? Well, you know, obviously there outside loan agencies and banks and other companies that are in the business of lending money to students into their parents. By the way, Tonto, help them fund college. So you know those institutions are the ones paying the university. So I think that you know they may not have much skin in the game. The colleges and universities except that It might make some of those lending institution is less willing to dole out money if they think that their loans might be forgiven in the future, some at some point, so I mean, you're right. That's another monkey wrench thrown into this entire thing. The availability of loans. The accessibility of the affordability of them. Is there any sort of relief that we can see That'll help at all. I mean with this problem, because, like you say, it's a spiral. Yet, is he? Exactly? I mean, there are cares Act funds that are still coming specifically to California. You'll see billions of dollars flowing into that system out there. But it's such an enormous system at the two little year level and that four year institutions But again, it's really those junior colleges, community colleges, the two year associate degree institutions that are having the most trouble right now. It's not necessarily you know, the University of California system. So my daughter as someone who has a daughter was 19 years old now, and she's going through the process. She went to University of North Texas last year and then right when the pandemic it now she's been home since she's looking. She's going back now. It just It's one of those things you got. There's so many people right now they're having to deal with it. And hopefully it'll get resolved in some way. Thank you so much. A Jim Ryan will talk to you next time. Very good. My daughter graduated from you. And did she really go? Green wave? That's right. Grew ago eagles. That's fantastic. Thank you, sir. Have a good day and happy holidays to you, Jim. Same to you. Oh, that Xuemei That's small school university, North Texas. People talk about how small it is. My blood people know about It is a huge school like 40,000 students. It's been growing exponentially over the last few years. My daughter went there last year. Shouldn't really care for it. I'm not gonna say that. But it seemed like a cool school when I got when I saw it. Right When we come back, we're going to talk to NBC's Brad Garrett. Iran has posted photographs, home addresses personal information on the FBI director and other state election officials on a website that they've created with the crosshairs on some of these political figures and governmental figures. Just another big threat online. We'll check on that with a B C's Brad Garrett when we come up right now, let's take a look at some traffic.

U. job perceived outside of the borders as a decent valuable job yeah I think it is I think you know other allowed him to use that term stepping stone job and I think you know that's what Mel Tucker use that as a stepping stone for him and you know he said and the daughter of a recently about a stepping stone job well I think clearly was for him I think that you know for outsiders I think it could be that of a job either you'll take a special type of coach maybe someone with Colorado ties with the not be a stepping stone job well and we're just on the heels of signing day nationally in kids committing to see you and committing to Mel Tucker I know it's hard for you to predict but how will this affect those kids sticking around and will the school let guys out of there letter of intent if they don't wanna come play for whomever the next that coaches yeah I I think you're going to impact the quite a bit I'm in the top recruit they have a shot at calling the money back and he's all over tour this morning saying you know I can't live I was lied to and they're all this stuff so a lot of your money as a matter of we are I think it's the best recruiting class to use had in a long time and I think that could change I think that some guys will be let out of their their commitment that there might even be innocently rule I'm not sure but as the head coach leaves I think they're the third that provision you can be let out of that commitment so I think it will change its class quite a bit that's too bad Brian hell from the boulder daily camera the bus speed beat writer thanks so much Brian for your time thank you so Brandon it makes you wonder how successful this team can be if you know every year or a few years they're going through coaches they don't want to stick around you get no consistency yeah I think Brian was right that you're gonna have to look inside the bus family now they do that a couple years ago John Embry any Airbnb is often corner just didn't work out right then Mike McIntyre you let him go you thought that that was the right timing on that do you keep someone like that around longer they're gonna have to either hire coordinator from big time program because it's still a step up or a coach at a a really small school a smaller school you in C. university North Texas that type of school that will take the jump because it's such a big jump to jump to the the power five your peers in the legendary cowboys receiver he tweeted this just a little while ago Mel Tucker is a con man he recruited my grandson to see you said he wasn't going anywhere any up and leaves sat there and lied to my face he wasn't going anywhere so I want to beat him up today and social media what else can I do so the borderline hall of Famer who had a shot to get in he obviously like many people connect the program not happy with not occur story no it's not gonna go away will continue to follow here because of course for the C. U. bus station gonna take leader Dr right.
