"That's if you just watch it purely from a crazy standpoint, that's a crazy little video right there. If you try to plug it into the society and where we stand here right now, where I have to sit here as somebody evaluating it as to whether I want to talk about it on the radio going, All right? Do we have all of the story? Do we know it All the story was, Was there something going on in the parking lot that escalated inside? They say something back by the case. Is now people put videos up. Where does include all the context I don't want to get in this. The best example obviously was the young man facing off there in Washington, D. C just standing there getting a drumbeat in his face. And all of the insanity that ensued from that. That being said. You know? Sometimes you're not exactly sad to see somebody get here with a nice tea. So that's just me. 881 89 99. I used to be. You could have these conversations now. Somebody's probably gonna call it scream at me. We don't know what happened in that. Well, you don't know either. Unless you do. Then you can call and tell me I'll be very curious to listen to any part of that story. I seem to be missing now to the University of Rhode Island. You ready for this? A knack to this group is demanding that the universe is so the University of Rhode Island president is stepping down. His name is David Dooley said to retire in June just made the announcement and so that gives him six months to figure out who they're going to put in there. Well, an activist groups headed by one of the professors Lewis Foss, Oof, Oh Soo Kwamie foe Sue. Um And, um of a bunch of other senior leadership folks and a bunch of students are demanding. The next president of the University of Rhode Island must have African American lineage specifically to slavery. Yes. So if you can't prove that, somewhere in the in the family tree Somebody was a slave then, and I don't know if that means I guess African American lineage to slavery. I guess it would. It would just be Slavery here in the U. S. If you can't prove that, then you should not be in consideration for this job, but it doesn't stop there. They also are demanding, Um, let's see. They want to make it mandatory for all incoming First year students to take at least one African studies courses, a general education requirement. Make it mandatory to teach all incoming first year students in their first semester the importance of diversity and inclusion. Courses on racism. This is more of that critical race theory stuff. And, um some black, white and Latino students shall join in another class action lawsuit. If the next to Yu Ri University of Rhode Island president is not an African American, with ancestry to slavery. So I mean, they're threatening a lawsuit here. Where's that? There's one other demand here. That's just absolutely bonkers. Here we go. We will not permit conscious or unconscious Racists to harm us with racism, supports systemic racism with their silence, then make money researching, discussing recommending ambiguous, ineffective solutions and teaching US courses. About your racist system of harm. This is and that this is their words incredulous while you have done nothing specific or significant at University of Rhode Island and racism, therefore, all white professors Who teach racer diversity, political science and other departments or seek research grants, create conversations about racism, diversity initiatives or teaching courses. Our order to immediately stop the hypocrisy and exploitation. Stop teaching all courses and discussions on race and diversity. You're only privileging yourself. That's a word. And you never speak up with truth. So basically all of the people that are in the humanities and basically any part of the teaching of students at the University of Rhode Island that deals with politics. Raise diversity, which nowadays is more and more and more of everything. Essentially, if you're white, you should not be working there. There's a few other things done here now. Thankfully, the current president on the Provos, provost of the university, basically said these air stupid So I kudos to them. Yeah, I hadn't seen a good list in a while and you know It's something that Cove it is taken from us. But, man Oh, man, these public universities. We had some crazy ones. I sit here in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have university, North Carolina Chapel Hill. Duke University, North Carolina State University. Those air all just here. In the what we call the triangle, which is Raleigh Durham, Chapel Hill. And so usually I get I get a healthy dose of especially from out in Chapel Hill and Duke. Is there so much? There's so much privilege guilt over a Duke University. It would. It would knock your socks off, but this year just hadn't gotten any. So. Thank you. University of Rhode Island for entertaining me. My annual quest to see, uh, really, really, really dumb lists of demands. And and thank you to the University of Rhode Island leadership by actually putting a statement out, saying these are stupid. Normally they just cower and ignore it. Or they acquiesce and as you saw in places like University of Missouri On de Evergreen College, and some of these that have just taken a knee. It has not voted well for enrollment and basically The even people wanting to work there for that matter. Ones that are not completely indoctrinated. And people don't want to send their kids there. And I don't blame him. Alright. 881 89 99 the phone number I have to read you this Alicia Milano tweet. This might be the dumbest thing I've seen today. And what kind of hell escape could next year hold? According to Nostradamus, we'll find out coming up. What did.

"The source that outed the church problem because he was just let's get it out there so that there's no subterfuge here. And The Christian World. In the last couple decades has seemed to. Sometimes that dabble into politics you the moral majority in the late eighties, that kind of got put into question the nineties, but definitely the last decade, we've seen less involvement in the political sphere. On behalf of Christian America. In fact, we're seeing the opposite. We're seeing the Christian community weaponized for Liberal leftist and Democrats. Johnson objectives And I'll tell you what. My thesis on this I used to be involved with church growth back when America was healthier church growth was a safe thing. Because you focus then you use like you're Peter Drucker skills. It was my training, and Drucker was great. She started the first megachurches. Why did he advise? You know, like What's his name? Hybels and Willow Creek community? Yeah, Willow Creek. So Peter Drucker was the management girl. He was the Yoda of modern managers feel they know he's a Christian, he said. If we apply modern management theory to church, we can grow mega churches. It's the same thing to grow 2000. Every church, the 200 number two, as you know it. Doing a big event is the same as doing a smaller event. You can have 1000 people are 10,000. It's really just scale. So he started to teach management theory with this idea. If the church gets big enough, it can actually fill in the gap where government education and other institutions fail, and we could use that pent up power of influence and that money Philanthropic Lee to transform communities. What happened was the church's became businesses, and they were looking at Nichols and noses and how they could monetize cash flow to grow a bigger audience. Then day because it became a consumer culture. It didn't do a drunkard this so they took Drucker's science applied it to grow in the church, but didn't take his philosophy, which is used the power to be able to fill the gap that the government could never fill. And make us the indispensable alternative are the indispensable power and culture that shapes it, but they did was, they said, We'll forget that philanthropy stuff we're gonna put our money into building bigger and bigger and bigger audiences. Budgets, buildings and baptisms and staff. So I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and I was raised in the Presbyterian Church. We left the Presbyterian Church when it became too radical liberal. My parents did. And we started to split our time between harvest Bible Chapel and Willow Creek Community Church Harvest Bible Chapel. James McDonald, Still a friend of mine to this day, not even get into all that kind of nonsense. But coming the accusations. I don't remember, but I remember great writing. But James really good Bible teacher and really led me to the Lord. In a way no one else did. Went to Willow Creek Community Church. A little bit more liberal Hybels is like a council to Clinton. But I'm very exposed the mega church business model. There you go, where you have a two lane highway on both sides going into the campus and Barrington, Illinois of Willow Creek Community Church, and you think you're driving on the campus of University, North Carolina Chapel Hill. Exactly, And so here's my thesis. Once we got into building bigger, bigger churches and found that we could do it. The bigger and bigger churches decided that they didn't want to become political because they follow the Jack Hayford model. What does that mean? And that means that our job isn't to protest the moral conditions of the unsaved. Our job is to Preach the gospel to them in our churches, So when they come to us, they hear the gospel but on the streets were not going to be moralizing about why they're so simple and James Kennedy is the other extreme on that, and James Kennedy with Coral Ridge Presbyterian, said. I'd be careful about that. Because if you don't end up being salt and light if you if you do evangelism, but don't get into culture. Then culture will become weaponized against you and the Marxist will shut you down. So the idea of a mega church that's a new phenomenon started in the eighties. Is that right? 70 80 as a byproduct of American management thinking, Okay, so the same way that corporate America went to scale as we open up our markets to China started get a lot of, you know, piles of plastic that we didn't need. We also now decided to open up our church is that the same model To be in defense of Hybels. Outside again of his controversies, because Hybels also taught me a lot about the Bible, and he was very gifted to my Bill Hybels who started Willow Creek Community Church and out of Willow, you at least struggle you two amazing people that came out with no doubt about it. But in defense of Hybels, I think the way he justified it was that We are now reaching more people than ever before. Therefore, we're fulfilling the Great Commission. But do you think that the megachurch kind of movement also resulted in a water down theology and with it a non political posture, so and so this is always so hard to do, And I appreciate the fact that you're not going all or nothing on this because The problem was that they succeeded in building big. The problem is that they disengaged from cultural controversies because it didn't help build. So the ideas why don't want to get involved discussion about gay marriage? Because I'm gonna I'm gonna lose the potential homosexual. God come into my church. So under the premise of creating an environment that's safer centers to come to the here that one issue, which is redemption. They backed up from culture on every issue, and at that point The megachurch model failed us. So I was gonna say there's two problems I got because the megachurch model is the classic evangelical thing and, of course, charismatic Pentecostal learn how to do it to Joel Osteen and such, but primarily evangelicals get management. What happened in the charismatic Pentecostal world, which is like a billion people around the world. Never underestimate how many of them there are. We had divine or something. What was that place called? Well, get Vineyard. That's the one. I'm sorry. And so John, with a big one for their use, and John Limbert taught at Fuller, so S so that's a powerful movement, but they went off in another direction. These air might this downtown on my friends, but they did was similar to the to the evangelical megachurch, they said. You know if we focus on the supernatural, and we believe in the supernatural, and we could supernatural people, there's prey for them Profits. I'm minister from hell them. Exactly. Then what happens is that demonstrates the reality. The Kingdom of God. Why would we get involved with controversial issues so notice? And to thrust the characters in the last 15 or 20 years, the church growth model and the charismatic supernatural model. Both of them took us from Toronto..

Bill Hybels Willow Creek Community Church Peter Drucker Presbyterian Church Willow Creek Community Church Willow Creek America Christian America James Kennedy John Limbert harvest Bible Chapel James McDonald Chicago Joel Osteen James Barrington Lee Nichols Illinois

"In particular and I can also speak for myself before I began to do this research need to be reminded else along with on the chest recompense for them choosing Newman is director of the Einstein forum thank you very much and now I'd like to turn the screen over to sandy and Kirsten who are in their house in in North Carolina thanks to you David Wessel I can see this event need an end to the Brookings Institution I see on a pizza on a Dawson heralds all laying on your risotto impala Kostyuk we also took our hats to our collaborators on from here to a quality reparations for black Americans in the twenty first century at the university of North Carolina press I'm especially to all of you who are participating in this event here in person and across the globe Christian Mollen is founder of art the factual author of the book from here to equality as David said the point when this event was planned a pandemic was not on the radar we realize a book launch is insignificant in this context but we are grateful for this opportunity we're going to need for the book extensively but later but but first we talk about some current events my father Williams senior what's the first and I like to use this active the first known black PhD recipient from university of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when many years later he was asked whether or not he thought it was wonderful that he was the first recipient his response was well no it's terrible it's terrible it took that long for somebody to be the first black recipient of a PhD from University North Carolina Chapel Hill he received his in nineteen sixty three white was there was a long history of exclusion of blacks from opportunities like that it's reflected in the conversation that we pursue an art book from here to a quality as David mentioned the current excess relative black mortality from the corona virus is another indicator of the scope of the kinds of harms and damages that continue to be inflicted on the black community William Verity dissipating into virtual event hosted by the Brookings Institution from here to equality reparations and the pandemic is a topic that course and then I wrote about in an op ed about a week ago in The Philadelphia Inquirer in which we argue that the pandemic itself reinforces the intensity of the case for black reparations for for for descendants of United States slavery in the Philadelphia Inquirer article we talk about the excess mortality is associated with the pandemic and I'd like to provide some additional examples in our own state of North Carolina blacks constitute approximately twenty two percent of the population but blacks are thirty two percent of the confirmed cases of the corona virus and forty and forty four percent of the state's deaths and in Louisiana is another example blacks constitute approximately thirty two percent of that state's population but seventy percent of the mortality associated with the with the virus what are the reasons for this excess mortality the first I think it is the occupational distribution in the United States where blacks have jobs that we would describe as being in the missionary or care category that require an intensive degree of personal contact and and postal service activities and so that increases significantly the risk of exposure to the virus in addition because of the long project your directory of racial inequality in the United States which affects health outcomes black the disproportionate amounts of pre existing health conditions that create greater vulnerability to the disease including asthma diabetes hypertension and other variations on heart disease but there is a fundamental and this is the third point there is a fundamental pre existing condition which explains the kinds of the spirit is what we're observing now that's the resource gap which is best captured by the black white wealth gap wealth inequality in the United States can be described as follows blacks represent approximately thirteen percent of the United States is population but possess two point six percent of the nation's well that translates into roughly an eight hundred thousand dollar gap in network on average per household so from our perspective a core objective of reparations for black American descendants of U. S. slavery must be elimination of the racial wealth gap and so that's the starting point for much of the analysis that we pursue in the pages of the quality what to read from the introduction of the book Ali I'm standing at the crossroads and he's going to begin by reading the first actually someone similar to but you mention from from your your former your former this is actually from a low Baker the the black political activists were she said in order to see where we're going we not only must the where we have been but we must also understand where we have everybody was helping the past anticipating the future the world has never seen any people turned loose to such destitution as were the four million slaves of the south they were free without roofs to cover them corporate you eat or land to cultivate and as a consequence died in such numbers as you awaken the hope of their enemies that they would soon disappear going to frame the conversation today with some with some of the the passages from the opening portions of from here to the quality I'd like to start by reading from the the first page of the book racism and discrimination have perpetually crippled black economic opportunities as several historic moments the trajectory of racial inequality could have been altered dramatically but at each juncture the road chosen did not lead to a just and fair America the formation of the Republic provided a critical moment when blacks and whites have been granted freedom and admitted to full citizenship the civil war and the reconstruction error each offered openings to produce a true democracy hourly inclusive of black Americans had the new deal project on the GI bill fully included blacks the nation would have widened the window of opportunity to achieve an equitable future passage of civil rights legislation of the nineteen sixties might have unlocked the door for America to eradicate racism however and none of these works was the path to full justice taken from here to equality is a book primarily about the economic divide between black and white Americans how it came to be and how it can be eliminated specifically we contend they suitably designed program of reparations can close the divide black reparations can place America's squarely on the path to racial equality programs have been used to teach Eckley and United States and throughout the world right injustices these include the U. S. government recreation Japanese Americans unjustly incarcerated earned during World War two the German government's provision of reparations for victims of the **** Holocaust and the Canadian government's provision of compensation to indigenous peoples removed forcibly from their families and find a Christian church run Indian residential schools reversing the effects of slavery for newly emancipated human chattel what's the goal of several plans put into action during and immediately following the civil war one of the country's earliest efforts radically alter blacks economic condition once the federal government hosts civil war plan to give at least forty acres of abandoned and confiscated land as well as a mule to each formerly enslaved family of four or ten acres per person while some maintain that this plan aiming of land and the work well to a newly freed up to nearly three men and women the nineteenth century is a figment of the lack of education historical records confirm that the promise of reparations was not yes it was inscribed in federal legislation in fact the allocation activated eighteen sixty five forty acres for formerly enslaved Africans was at least the second such measure the federal government had developed to assign land to the former channel the idea of reparations could be an effective method of addressing the effects of slavery and white supremacy has a long history cycling in and out of pocket for discourse and national policy arena reparations are as timely today as they were in the eighteen sixties the goal the ultimate goal of your quality is to help rejuvenate discussions about and to promote reparations for African Americans as the final chapter of this book will show their several mechanisms for reversing gross inequalities between blacks and whites to overcome the frequent reflexive reaction but this is impractical or in physical real equality is a worthy goal and it can be it should coauthors William Garrity and Kirsten Muller the book from here to equality reparations or program of the knowledge meant we dress and closure for a grievous injustice where African Americans are concerned the grievous injustices that make the case for reparations include slavery legal segregation or Jim crow and ongoing discrimination and stigmatization R. C. arc the acronym that stands for acknowledgement redress and closure characterizes the three essential elements of the reparations programs that we are advocates acknowledgement redress and closure or components of any effective reparations project knowledge mints involves recognition and admission of the wrong by the perpetrators or beneficiaries of the injustice for African Americans this means the receipt of a formal apology and a commitment for redress on the part of the American people as a whole I'm national lack of declaration that a great wrong has been committed but beyond an apology acknowledgement requires those who benefitted from the exercise of the atrocities to recognize the advantages they gained and commit themselves to the cause of redress redress potentially can take two forms not necessarily mutually exclusive restitution or atonement restitution is the restoration of the survivors to their condition before the injustice occurred or to recondition they might have been trained at the injustice not taken place of course it is impossible to restore those who were enslaved to a condition increasing their enslavement not only because those who were enslaved her now deceased but also because many thousands were born into slavery but it is possible to move their descendants toward a more equitable position commensurate with this status they would have attained in the absence of the injustice there is an alternative form of redress occurs when perpetrators or beneficiaries need conditions of forgiveness that are acceptable to the victims and shipping these elements of a reparations program requires good faith negotiations between those who were wrong and the wrong doers there is no existing mechanism for establishing when African Americans collectively will have reached an agreement that steps have been taken to justify forgiveness consequently atonement is difficult to accomplish that is why in our proposal we treat restitution as the appropriate form of redress and we have clear metrics for determining when restitution has been achieved that we do not have first abolition the same for its own restitution for African Americans would eliminate racial disparities in wealth income education health sentencing and incarceration a little participation and subsequent opportunities to engage in American political and social life it will require not only an endeavor to compensate for past repression and exploitation but also an endeavor to offset its stubborn existing obstacles for black participation in American political and social life reparations demonstrably would be effective if an improved position for blacks is associated with sharp and injuring reductions in racial disparities particularly economic disparities like racial wealth inequality and corresponding sharp and then during improvements in black well being closure involves mutual recognition between African Americans and the beneficiaries of slavery legal segregation on ongoing discrimination towards blacks whites and blacks would come the Turks over the past confront the president and unite to create a new entrance for United States of America we guarantee is a professor at Duke University and co author of the book from here to equality briefly several arguments raised in opposition to reparations Christian Mollen is founder of art the factual author of the book from here to equality the first is an attractive charge only against what we and others referred to you as slavery reparations so slavery is indeed the fulcrum from which the grievous injustices we fight between quality that constitute the case for reparations for black American descendants of slavery hello the black people were not admitted to full citizenship what we ended in chronological order of the charges we make are slavery legal segregation or Jim crow and ongoing discrimination and stigmatization the case we are making preparations is based on all three of these injustices I'm not slow closely on slavery another one of opposition why didn't black America or America in general I already paid for hasn't but hasn't white America hasn't made America or American general already paid towards that personally reading blood my waking the civil war which resulted in a massive patient so what listening to OSHA gray Davidson hi.

CI you'll money they still don't know how to connect the voters rush they connected donors they don't know how to connect the voters were going to connect the voters like you can't believe they haven't seen in like it remember it dawned on you were transcribing interviews are nodding her head Daniel Christ professor university North Carolina Chapel Hill school of communist journalism and mass brand of communism wrote that in the arena of digital politics trump is the beneficiary of a major advantage of the fact that trump is an incumbent without a significant primary challenger means that his team and the Republican National Committee had three years to build tools collect data test models and messaging immobilize supporters there's nothing stopping the Democrats in doing this oh yes there really is they don't have a nominee that stop the DNC forget right this is the difference that that Mr and so I have that's not the reason with Democrats a lagging behind the reason the Democrats are lagging behind as they still haven't accepted the trump one they still look at trump and see somebody illegitimate they see trouble they see somebody didn't deserve to win the cheated they think their reflection in twenty twenty years in the bag they think impeachment in the bag they thought Russian collusion was in the bag they thought the golden showers story was in the bag they thought the mother report was in the bag they they get a ship is in the bag they all are in the bag what are they breeding in that bag these people are making a giving you crippled by their own Eric and you can see it in this in this in this dark and dank debate last night oh my god fox I I I I look I don't want to keep repeat myself what it was sharks strange that whole night there was no wind and you contrast that debate last night with the Republican debate with trump it's a difference in going to a disco at night and a funeral there was no energy despite Elizabeth Warren's bobble headed mannerisms and that was about well Amy global shar has her own version of those the overall theme of the Democrat debate was the belief that everyone in this country is helpless that is a Victor clinging to every word uttered by some government same here who's gonna solve every problem and that's literally the kind of voter that they have created they have created a bunch of people waiting they have created a bunch of people hanging on waiting hoping that somebody from government's gonna come along and make things affordable but what they really hope this is the key they wrong really hope that Republicans and the rich are going to get hurt by policy that's what the Democrats have fostered so you have an audience caught up in all these dystopian themes Eric is unfair illegitimate unjust racist sexist bigot homophobic America is only for a select few when everybody else is left out doesn't have a prayer unless the Democrats get even with people and that's what Democrat voters are waiting for their happiness their quest their hope for happiness is defined by Republicans in the rich being harmed and it was a window in the hall these people see each and every day meanwhile Donald Trump is upbeat optimistic energetic you can't stop him at his rallies are filled with happy up beat excited people can't wait to vote again or very much into what Donald Trump is doing as president and they simply don't have a way to compete with that now here comes Thomas B. and soul trump is winning the online war let me tell you it's even worse than that here in my formerly nicotine stained fingers I am holding a column written by the USA today columnist J. sitting with him as he is from got lip but Ohio in his column well the headline says it all I went back home to Ohio strong country in Appalachia honest people have hope again this column is guy says it's the hardest column he has ever written he went back and he could not believe how the people from his hometown in Ohio love trunk let me just give you a couple of pull quotes these folks already get made fun of me you're gonna think you've heard this before for me but that they're in you have what this guide Jason Williams actually doing is ample fine things I've already told you about the people the Democrat party routinely makes fun of each and every day everybody in fly over country everybody who's pro life everybody who's pro gun everybody who lives out the Mason Dixon line this is how the Democrats see them and they know it Columbus Ohio this is in in nine gal your county arguably I'm not sure how it's pronounced these folks already get made fun of enough for being from appellation they're good respectful people focused on taking care of their families they want to be left alone they don't care about stupid Twitter war is and I don't want to be responsible for thrusting them into the vicious rhetorical crossfire between a leftist activists in trump circumvents this guy's not given name anybody soul left wing Democrat trolls can't go after him he's a journalist what's what does that make it makes him a left wing Democrat and then he says Democrats aren't reaching out Democrats don't care about these people no one votes to be despised if Democrats don't change their pitch are you may switch to trump Democrats are not reaching out there not they want the elite vote and that's it they don't want any of these other she loves they have to pay all they'll run debate forum and make the slobs think they care about him but the Democrats are making it clear they don't care about the slobs I don't care about the little guy they don't care about prescription drug prices I don't care about healthcare I don't care about any of this notice when they tried to talk about last night how impossible plans are health care Medicare for all take a hundred and fifty people off their private insurance that they like thirty trillion dollars for Medicare for all alone there isn't the money for these people don't know what they're talking about the most natural reaction let ME thinking human being gone ahead watching this debate last night it's something along the lines of what do any of these people know about health care why should I listen to everything they say none of them are even the healthcare business they're nothing but a bunch of politicians and lawyers how did they know what they're talking about and that would have been the most brilliant reaction any viewer could have had when you go up and down that line twelve candidates last night from Kamel I harassed a mayor Pete Tulsi Gabbard Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Amy club what does any of them know about any of the so called plans that they have proposed under device they don't know anything their plans are devised to appeal to a bunch of people who have been led to believe they can't do anything for themselves I wouldn't even want to be a party like I wouldn't want to lead a party I would want to be a candidate I wouldn't want to be a talk show host if my party depended on catering to a bunch of people who have been convinced they can't do anything on their own because the deck is stacked against them and the only chance they have in life is some political party comes along and punishes them get even with the rich gets even with Republicans that's what the Democrats have created that's what they have fostered here's another pull quote I quick from Jason Williams USA today I quickly came to the realization that this was going to be a challenge soon after arriving for my two and a half day stay in early September I found that a lot of folks didn't want to talk about trump they didn't want to put themselves out there for fear of being verbally bludgeoned on Facebook and Twitter or in the grocery store even the church and those who didn't want to talk well they seem to speak for those who want to remain silent they are tired of certain cable news networks they are tired of the leftist political class stereo typing them as a bunch of truth most racist back woods rubes quote I don't want to talk about it because you can't have an opinion unless it's their opinion seven African American trump supporter about the left either you believe the way they believe are your a racist to homophobe the reason I'm working is because of what trump don I just want to put my hard hat on and go to work every day and here's another pull quote but the residents have optimism like I haven't seen in a long time now your county's unemployment rates five point six percent that's the lowest it's.

care Medicare for all take a hundred and fifty people or for private insurance that they like thirty trillion dollars for Medicare for all alone there isn't the money for these people don't know what they're talking about the most natural reaction that every thinking human being gone ahead watching this debate last night it's something along the lines of what do any of these people know about health care why should I listen to everything they say none of them are even the healthcare business they're nothing but a bunch of politicians lawyers how did they know what they're talking about and that would have been the most brilliant reaction any of your work could have had when you go up and down that line twelve candidates last night from Comilla harassed a mayor Pete Tulsi Gabbard Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren the AV club what does any of them know about any of the so called plans that they have proposed under device they don't know anything their plans are devised to appeal to a bunch of people who have been led to believe they can't do anything for themselves I wouldn't even want to be in a party like I wouldn't want to lead a party I would want to be a candidate I wouldn't want to be a talk show host if my party depended on catering to a bunch of people who have been convinced they can't do anything on their own because the deck is stacked against them and the only chance they have in life is some political party comes along and punishes them yes even with the rich get even with Republicans well that's what the Democrats have created that's what they have fostered here's another pull quote I quick from Jason Williams USA today I quickly came to the realization that this was going to be a challenge soon after arriving from like two and a half day stay in early September I found that a lot of folks didn't want to talk about trump they didn't want to put themselves out there for fear of being verbally bludgeoned on Facebook and Twitter or in the grocery store even the church and those who.

"Yeah. You know, religion. Generally doesn't have a sense of humor. Go to Iran and hold up a drawing of Muhammad gonna work out for you. This is not that. Although people would go wait a second. I think I know the reason why they don't like you to draw Muhammad. But I'm I'm not gonna tell you now tell you in a minute. Remind me, okay. Tease right there. So here's the deal. I a church in the in the town of a bedroom or Dedham, Massachusetts. Has an unconventional take on Nativity scene at their at Saint Suzannah's perish the baby Jesus in a cage. And the wise men are closed off by a wall. You would think that the guy with gold of those three? Weisman is the is the one that we could maybe get his way. Way into the country. They should have been climbing over the wall accepted. It's have you seen the picture? Have you looked at it? Oh, it's right here. It's it's interesting to the part of it that I loved the best there last year they should last year's year. Identifiable except they built this little cage and sound a little cage. It's nothing to. So there's the cage and there's the wall, and there's the Wiseman. Yeah. It's pretty cool. It's a great idea. And I guess if you're a Trumper. It bothers you. But Pat thrown a member of the I'm gonna Pat when it says Pax Christi. I'm not supposed to pronounce extra. My I don't know just go on anyway, they came up with the idea this play, and they kind of ran it around the community, and how the community was all into it. And it's like anything there's always just a few people that make noise say mixing politics with religion isn't sitting. Well, but is it really mixing politics. Now, it is not WWE. Right, right. I mean, isn't that the point isn't that what we as Christians are Catholics are moving ever. Isn't that what you're supposed to do? I mean. Michelle Bachmann went over to visit. What's the crown prince's name Salman bin Hamad bin Salman, Mohammad bin Salman, remember? They went over and they prayed for him. I'm thinking what would Jesus do? I don't think the first thing. Jesus would do would be murderer journalist dismember a journalist. You know when you look at this. And you look at the people that are the antithesis of the basic Judeo Christian beliefs, and I say Judeo Christian because Jesus was Jewish right? Yeah. He was Jewish. And so I just I lay all this out. The one part of me without a doubt for me. I love Christmas. It's my favorite season. Because it was you know, as a kid, it has real special thing, I grew up in the Catholic church folk masses. So, you know, the people playing guitars it wasn't a high mass. I look forward to going to church on Sundays. And then they blew it. They they blew all that stuff out. And this is right around Roe v. Wade they said we're going to go the other way, we're gonna get hardcore. And Vatican two. I can't remember all the Vatican two was one of the culprits if I recall correctly, but this is not again, I I just always liked the stories of. Of people who did political action in the sixties and seventies and the eighties, and they did it, and they were Christians, and it was there. And they're the ones that go to middle of nowhere, and dictators and a fun other fundamentalists attack them somebody said this to me the other day goes the Christians just like that guy that went to that island, and the and I said, no, they're not that guy was nuts. He was a crazy Mormon that went there thinking he's going to convert people who are happy in their own little lives, and their if you don't know the story, it was he was what what would you? Call him a. A guy from the church that went there on his own to to try to convince missionaries missionary right? Okay. But this is a this is just a priest. That's just trying to make a point. He's trying to make a point that Christ was a political figure, and that this even though this is meant to be a political shot at Trump the baby in a cage, we all saw children in cages. Yup. And no it wasn't Obama. Okay. It was it happened right here with the Trump administration. Some of those kids, by the way, never got back with their parents, a couple of hundred of them still can't find their parents that are still separated for variety of reasons some criminal, but I mean. I mean, they would you deport the parents leads the kids here, and they're still in custody. You know, this is this is what's wrong with you know. I mean, I think that this is going to be a lively Christmas at this Saint Susanna church in Dedham and good for you. I think it's a great thing. He did. Anyway, if you if you didn't get a chance calling now, you can just put this up on Twitter. It's already getting a lively response. Although the truth is only a couple of haters for the most part, I think people get it. And they understand that this is this is the reason for the season as they say, right? I mean, the whole idea is that you really want to have an opportunity to. Express. Exactly why we do this thing. I mean Jesus was born like in March or something, right? It wasn't born around the holidays. You know, why we use the solstice the twenty first of December pagans long before Christ realize the sun wasn't going away. They used to worship the sun. And they realize the sun wasn't going to go away after four or five days ago. Hey, look, it's a it's a little bit longer today. They counted the minutes on the shadows. And so they knew and they had a celebration. And so they figured what a good time. To celebrate the birth of crisis. We don't know when he was really born. Right. Yep. So worked anyway. Some funny stuff. I can't repeat follow my Twitter feed at chip Franklin. And and and you'll get it. Thank you Ray. For your comments about not me me, not being the exact theologian. I have the right spirit though. I think that's if you say it with such enthusiasm that people believe you, you know, what I do find it kind of odd that if the strongest evangelical presence or in like some of the southern states and the and they'll still have a confederate flags up. You see that story about what they're doing in in North Carolina. They're raising a mega confederate flag to protest the removal of the silence. Sam, you know, the story. No, Jerry, so university North Carolina Chapel Hill as a multimillion dollar proposal to house a controversial silence. Sam statute, the local sons of confederate veterans cancer responding by raising another confederate flag now. Silence. Sam is a confederate monument knocked down by demonstrators back in August. I don't know the history behind it doesn't say in this article. But so what they did was to protest that they have one of those, you know, those mega flags like you see if some of these car. Somebody's car lots. They have that flag. This thing is about. It's about seventy five feet long. And it's insane. So instead of an American flag, you're going that route forty and by the way, that's a that's a very liberal area. UNC that whole area. It's called the research. Triangle, Raleigh Durham, North Carolina, Raleigh Durham and Chapel Hill and the have this flag. There is the reason they took down the confederate statues is because the alarm to live there a lot of them or liberal. They came from other places they like North Carolina. If you're not familiar with North Carolina's a beautiful place to lift, you know, it's just it's there's a battle there between kind of the north coming south and the people that don't want to change. So they got this flag. And it's funny because one of the groups protesting, the removal of confederate statues is one of the biggest Baptist church in North Carolina. Hello hypocrisy. How can you say that understand by the way? The the flag is a symbol of racism and hate, but probably most importantly, it's they lost. I mean, if you really want to embrace something the reason they lost is because well, most of the people in the south did no slaves, and they didn't want to die protecting something that actually hurt their ability to work many of the poor people in the Carolinas and all the way down in Georgia and south. They need jobs the jobs that they didn't have or because African Americans have been brought over and chains had their gigs. In fact, that's why there was a lot of resentment in cities in the north after the war because blacks didn't wanna stay down there. So they went north to get jobs and the Irish were pissed side. You never make anybody happy now coming up, the the Democrats. It looks like they got the kick the can down the road a bit. When it comes to shutting down the government shutdown anytime soon at least a couple of weeks. But I think the closer you get to Christmas. It seems to me the less likely. It's going to happen because I don't want to stick around. Yeah. We're gonna talk to Daniel Lipman from politico and find out and also still in the next half hour really want to get the story in about Colin Kaepernick the latest on that. So don't go anywhere coming. That's nikki. I'm chip Keijo. Chip Franklin.

"I'm Steve Inskeep. And I'm Rachel Martin the woman accusing President Trump's supreme court nominee of sexual assault has now come forward. Her name is Christine Blasi Ford. And she told her story to the Washington Post when it went public yesterday it immediately became clear, it has the potential to derail the nomination of Brett Cavanaugh to the supreme court. At least two Republican senators have said the vote on Kavanagh's nomination should be delayed. Democrats are calling for the FBI to investigate NPR Legal Affairs. Correspondent Nina totenberg is with us now. Good morning, Nina. Good morning. I guess we should have you start by describing the incident as Brett Kavanagh's accuser describes it. We should note to listeners some of the content will be disturbing. The woman whose name is Blasi Ford Christine Blasi Ford. She says that she was at a party. She was a bad fifteen years old. He was seventeen it was they were both in high school at the same time. It was in in Maryland where he went to high school. She went upstairs to go to the bathroom and these two boys pushed her into a room, and that Brad Kavanagh through on the bed jumped on top of tried to take her clothes off. And when she screamed for help that he covered her mouth, and that totally terrified her finally the other boy, and they were both drunk. She said jumped on on the bed on both of them, and they all tumble to the ground and she got out of the room and locked yourself in a nearby bathroom, but Cav account. Brad Kavanagh denies this flatly. He says this absolutely never happened. Although this could end up as we noted preventing him. From taking a seat on the court at least two Republican senators Jeff flake and Bob corker have said they need more information. The committee needs more information. How does this change the politics around his possible confirmation? Well, first of all the committee vote is scheduled this Thursday. It was assumed that the the nominee would be approved in committee on a very close vote and then go to the floor the following week for thirty hours of debate. Well, now, it doesn't look like that is very very easy timeline to complete because Jeff flake Senator from Republican Senator from Arizona who is on that committee said he's not comfortable voting him the nomination until more evidence is obtained in this is straightened out, and he hears from Kavanagh's accuser. And that means they don't have the votes on committee. This is an eleven to ten committee. That means at minimum. There's a tie vote and a tie vote means the nominee does not advance. Now, there are ways around that. Yes. But it all takes time. The Republicans have been trying to muscle through this nomination as quickly as possible. They're terrified. They might lose the control of the Senate along shot. But I don't think that this is this nation is dead or anything like it yet. But they're going to have to slow down and refer this to the FBI four investigation. So there are we don't know if this allegation is true. But there are clearly parallels to Anita hill those allegations against Clarence Thomas during his court confirmation hearings back in ninety one you happen to have been the first reporter to break that story. Can you remind us of those allegations how this is different? Well in the in the Clarence Thomas, Anita hill case, they were not kids in high school. They were adults. The allegations were not thirty five years ago. They were just a couple of years ago a few years prior and she worked for him. So the circumstances were different the Democrats were actually in control of the Senate. But they actually did send the FBI to to interview Anita hill. Then they did nothing about it. In this case, the chairman of the committee check Grassley has received a request to invest send us to the FBI four investigation. Not just to include the allegation in the file, and we'll see what's what's going to happen with that. But I suspect that's going to have to happen. And then they're going to have to hear from the protagonists at some point. Note, though, one of the women elected to congress in the wake of the Anita hill affair was Dianne Feinstein. The senior democrat on the judiciary committee Blasi Ford initially sent the letter to Feinstein. She apparently didn't think it was worth making an issue of though, what she said was that she received the information on a confidential basis and unless Blasi Ford was willing to come forward. She would respect that confidentiality. Unfortunately, she didn't tell her colleagues on the committee, and they're pretty ticked off about that. So there this is all coming to the fore, very late got an NPR Legal Affairs. Correspondent Nina totenberg the remnants of hurricane. Florence are dumping rain on the southeast and those who heeded calls to evacuate their homes now wait to see when they can return from member station. W UNC rusty Jacobs reports for the second time in four days. Gladys meadows had to pack up and go first she fled the storm on Wednesday night when she left her Jones county home down east to take shelter at the. National guard armory in Fayetteville the threat of flooding. They're forced the closing of that facility. So on Saturday night meadows and others boarded a bus that took them to this modern building at the university, North Carolina Chapel Hill, we cry but any God always has a plan. And if you trust and believe.
