Does Elon Musk Have the Gov't Over a Barrel? Darren Beattie Explains

"Is there a calculus in Elon's mind that the government needs him more than he needs the government? For example, SpaceX is doing basically all of the work of the United States Space Force right now from satellite technology to missions to international space mission. Does Elon feel as if he's got the U.S. government over a barrel? You know, that's a great observation and it could just be if he pulls this off, it will that will be a major factor that he's become too big to fail. And he's waited long enough to show his hand and actually to turn against him because if he showed inklings in this direction, just 5 years ago, ten years ago, they would have never let him get exactly right. And now he's at this point and he does have some leverage. The only question is how existential is it to the regime to prevent free speech? I think it actually is existential and will do everything in their power to prevent it.

Once again, the Atlanta Hawks opened up their arena for early voting. Hawks lead owner and areas Management Chairman Tony Ressler is here on what they're doing. But first President Trump made it a priority to create a U. S. Space force, a new branch of the U. S military on par with the Army. Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. This is what Vice President Mike Pence said last week about the space force space itself represents a war fighting domain. And we will be prepared to defend our nation and defend our freedom in space with the United States Space Force, and this weekend Space Force is celebrating its one year anniversary. So I talked to its first commander, chief of space operations General John Raymond, to find out what it is accomplished. And what comes next space is a war fighting domain. And it is a critical domain that fuels our American way of life in our American way of war. Every American in our country relies on space capabilities each and every day. I have said frequently that Most folks use space multiple times before they have the first cup of coffee. The mission of the U. S space forces to make sure that when, when American citizens and our coalition partners around the globe Go to access space is always there. So what have you done in the first year? What did you accomplish? I'll turn around and ask you what you have yet to do. But let's start with what you've done already. So for the first year We have completely reorganized national security space tow design, very lean, agile, flat bureaucracy if you will to be able to go fast, because we think the operating space in the vastness of space And the speed at which things happen in space. You have to be able to move fast. So we've completely done that reorganization we've built all the personnel process is to get people into the space force. We graduated 86 cadets at the Air Force Academy directly into the into the space force. Just last week seven. New enlistees enlisted directly into the space force for the very first time, So we've got all the personnel processes in place to do that. We've written our first doctrine, which is the first independent view of space power. On. We submitted our first budget. In addition to all of that, under a global pandemic, we have continued to operate all the capabilities like GPS and the weather satellites and communications satellites. That our nation relies on each and every day. So you say you got the personal processes in place. You're putting people into the organization about how big an organization do You expect this to be within the medium term future? And so in the medium term future, we we have actually gone through and because we're gonna be relatively small, we have the luxury of interviewing every single person that comes in. We're gonna be very highly selective force to be able to get in very high tech force. That initial numbers this first year will be about 16,000 folks in the space force about a little less than half of our active duty military and the other portion are civilians. On and we see the interest in space force on band in space in general, with all the different sectors with NASA, you know, going back to the moon by 2024. The Again a bad word used in space. But the explosion of commercial space activity that's happening. We see great interest across the country. Give us a sense of the opposition at this point. I mean, you have something like this in the possibility of four of warfare in space. What the one of the other people doing. Yes. Oh, So first of all, let me just state right up front, our main Mission Institute to deter conflict from beginning or extending in the space. We do not want to get into a fight that extends into space. We have integrated space into everything that we do is a military what way use it to navigate to communicate Toe act with precision. It's integrated and everything we do from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. All we have to come back potential adversaries like, for example, Russia and China. Are developing capabilities to keep us from accessing space. In fact, Russia tested a anti satellite missile that's launched from the ground that's designed to destroy satellites in low Earth orbit, so It is a very contested domain in that threat is alive and well, and our job is to make sure that we can deter conflict, and that's our main mission. Well, if it's not classified, and you'll tell me if it is, I shouldn't be asking the question. But how do you deal with something like that Russian missile? Do you have an anti Missile defense in space. I mean, the way we've talked about here and on the earth, I won't go into specifics that what I'll say I'm very comfortable that we can protect and defend the capabilities that we have today. No way have partnerships. We have the best, uh, ability, toe understand what's going on in the domain? Uh, greater than any other country where you have trained operators. Andre very comfortable that we can. We can manage today. The reason why the establishment of the space force was so important was we need to stay ahead of that growing threat and And our competitors are moving very fast. And so our mission again is to deter conflict to go fast. That's why we built this organization to be very small, very lean. "Show. And just in case you thought that we would be going to the moon or there would be boots specifically on the moon by 2024. Boots. Specifically, it's not gonna happen. People need to remember and some people forget NASA is a government run organization is connected to the government, but it's not connected directly to the military. They will do things for the military. There are military applications of NASA, but NASA is not a military unit, and you may notice that just a few days ago Um US Space Force general said members of the military's newest branch would one day deploy into orbit. We'll, another top general said. That's not going to be any time soon. Quote the best and most direct route for any member of the United States Space Force to go personally and physically into space today remains what it has been for decades. That's Lieutenant General David Thompson, the space Force vice commander, He said that will be applying to NASA's astronaut program, which highlights once again. We're not there yet to wallah. We're not there yet. It's nice to say Hey, you know, we have to protect our satellites. We have to protect the you know that final frontier and everything. But as far as having actual boots. On the moon. Four soldiers in space, and that's why I've always doubted the need for a space force. Military applications of space Absolutely. Space force. As in like recruits and soldiers. No, we're not there yet. We're not technologically advanced enough. So disappointing. Are you saying that our troops not only have to go through basic training within the military, but if they want to get up on the moon stomping around protecting our intergalactic interest, they didn't have to go through NASA Astronaut training program. It was. It's even more than that. And think about this when we know that any Military application costs more when they're actual soldiers involved. We know that any space exploration cost more. When there are actual astronauts involved because they're there's training involved, and there's inherent danger involved in the way that unmanned applications. You just don't have And so since money will always be an issue when it comes to doing things in space. We don't have an unlimited supply in the Senso allocation. Then then, yes, it's going to take a long time. Before we have the technology and infrastructure where we could actually mass trained soldiers to do whatever job in a space environment. If you think about it, we don't even have astronauts who exists in a zero gravity space environment. For more than a year. I think the longest is maybe a year we don't have that infrastructure set up. Could we get there and maybe 60 70 years and I'm not exaggerating 60 70 years. Quite possibly, but the whole idea of having man space flights. Is is not economical in nature and Technologically, It's just not feasible. Grand on the grand scale. No money be damned. We need to spend every dollar possible to get these men and women in outer space. We don't know what's coming for us. There's all types of view of both that are being spotted here and there throughout the news right now, Okay. We need boots on the moon as the first line of defence. OK, so you're trying to go terrorism on me? We would rather fight them there than here. So she tried to say if I'm on that page, too. Don't you understand? I'm goingto tell it's the real simply If aliens are coming to us to start a fight, they are already technologically superior. They are probably coming with the capability of interstellar travel. I don't think they're coming from Mars with a similar level of technology if they can get to us They've already got us. If there are any Jews, not you. You are telling me this Mo. Have you not watched anything having to do with Independence Day? Okay. They were able to jack spaceships with just Earth based technology. What do you think? So you're so you're saying that, um My desktop computer might be able to help out in the fight against space aliens. Yes, exactly what I'm saying. That's why we need to start like maybe we need to come up with a new currency, something that could be spent readily on advancing training and getting all of our weapons and outfits and everything with the outer space. Yeah, I don't think that's the issue. I mean, because most astronauts would tell you it is the most dangerous environment that we know of. It is very easy to die in space. And if you're going to commit to having human capital In space. You are going to lose a lot of people think about the soldiers and I'm not trying to be funny. I'm being really serious right now. Think about the soldiers. We lose in training here on Earth. Think about the cost of that and not talk about the financial cost. I'm just talking about the social capital cost of losing people in a space environment where we already know it's much more safe is much more efficient and economical. And it's much more effective. I would say to have unmanned space vehicles. I mean, we have a lot ofthe military technology up there right now. We just don't talk about it. What we do. We have a lot of technology, which is our guarding our satellites and our various assets. There is a space war if you could say Going on right now in outer space, But the idea of space force in terms of boots being inserted to that war just doesn't make sense to me..

This is space time series twenty-three, episode, one, hundred and three for broadcast on the Second Victoria Twenty twenty coming up on Space Time the asteroid Banou proving that life really is full of vista situations. Time. Welcome to space time. We'd Stewart Gary. And you study suggests that material from the main, though at asteroid Vesta is being discovered on the surface of the near Earth Asteroid Banou the new findings reported in the journal Nature Astronomy a based on observed by Nassar's Cyrus. Rick spacecraft which is being studying the four hundred ninety five meter wide Apollo Group asteroid for the past two years Cyrus Rix was in two, thousand sixteen the spacecraft is studying the evolution composition and characteristics of this carbonaceous rubble. Pile asteroid as they carried out their observations straits not six boulders ranging in size from two to five meters scattered across new Southern Hemisphere near the equator, which appear to be some ten times brighter than the rest of Banou and when they undertook more detailed spectroscopy measurements found the signatures which included pyroxene suggest to these particular boulders didn't come from Banou but from another asteroid Vesta located in the somewhat more distant main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. A spectrometer separates light into what's component colors, and since elements and compounds have distinct Sigma Japan's in Brighton dark across a range of colors they can be identified using a spectrometer and the signature from the banana bowl. This was characteristic of the mineral Pyroxene, which is similar to what seen on Vista. Now, the leading hypothesis to try and explain the observations is that Banou, inherited the material from its parent asteroid body after a vista would that's a fragmented? By Vista collided. With. Bananas Parent Body, sometime in the distant past. Then Win the newspaper and body asteroid was destroyed in another collision a portion of its debris accumulated under its own gravity to form Banou including some of the pyroxene from Vesta astronomers don't think the boldest formed them. News Parrot asteroid because pyroxene typically forms when rocky materials melted at high temperature and bananas primarily composed of rocks containing water bearing minerals, and so couldn't have experienced very high temperatures. Based on it. So but several studies have indicated that it's possible that Banou was delivered from the inner regions of the main asteroid built into what he's now it's nearer the orbit and the right to in a main boat asteroid families, pollen, and Ula that both dark and rich and carbon just like Banou, making them likely candidates for finished parents. This report from NASA TV it appears some pieces of asteroid Vesta. ENDED UP ON ASTEROID venue according to observations from masses Cyrus wreck spacecraft. The new results sheds light on the intricate orbital dance of asteroids on the violent origin of. which is a rubble pile asteroid that coalesced from the fragments of a massive collision. Six boulders ranging in size from five to fourteen feet were discovered scattered across venues, Southern Hemisphere, the equator, these boulders are much brighter than the rest of Bennett with some appearing as much as ten times brighter than their surroundings. The unusual boulders on. Benny. I caught the teams I in images from the Cyrus rex cameras, instrument, the signature from Boulder. So as characteristic of the mineral seen from Vesta and the vest. Smaller asteroids that are fragments blasted from VESTA. When a sustained significant asteroid impacts, the team tested a few different theories to determine the origin of these folders I. It's possible that the boulders were originally part of been or its parent body. However, this is unlikely based on how pure scene is created. This mineral typically forms when rocky material melts at high temperature. Benue. Is composed of water bearing minerals. So it wouldn't have experienced very high temperatures in its history next the team considered localized heating. Perhaps from an IMP, the scale of impact needed to create large boulders is much more significant than what is expected to take place in the main asteroid belt. So the team ruled out these scenarios and instead considered other pyrrhic seen rich asteroids. That might have implanted this material to Benue for its parent. This is possible because as asteroids move through the solar system, their orbits can be altered in many ways including by the pull of gravity from planets and other objects meteoroid impacts even the slight pressure from sunlight. The new result hubs pinned down the complex journey begnaud and other asteroids have traced through the solar system. "I've watched this president endure unrelenting attacks but get up every day. And fight to keep the promises that he made to the American people. So with gratitude for the confidence President Donald Trump is placed in me. The support of our Republican Party. And the grace of God. I humbly accept your nomination to run and served as vice president of the United States. Serving the American people in this office has been a journey. I never expected. It's a journey that would not have been possible. Without the support of my family. Beginning with my wonderful wife care. She's a lifelong schoolteacher. An incredible mother to our three Children. And she is one outstanding second lady of the United States. I'm so proud and we couldn't be more proud of our three Children. Marine Corps captain Michael J. Pence, and his wife, Sarah, Our daughter, Charlotte Pence Bond. An author. And the wife to Lieutenant Henry Bond, who is currently deployed and serving our nation in the United States. Navy. And our youngest A recent law school grad. Our daughter, Aubrey. And her fiance who like so many other Americans had to delay their wedding this summer. We can't wait for Dan to be a part of our family. In addition, My wife and kids. A person who shaped my life. The most is also with us tonight. My mom Nancy. She is the daughter of an Irish immigrant. 87 years, young. And Mom follows politics very closely. The truth be told. Sometimes I think I'm actually her second favorite candidate on the Trump Pence ticket. Thank you, Mom. Over the past four years. I've had the privilege to work closely with our president. I've seen him when the cameras are off. Americans see President Trump in lots of different ways. There's no doubt how President Trump sees America. He sees America for what it is. A nation that has Dunmore good in this world than any other. A nation that deserves far more gratitude than grievance. If you want a president You fall silent when our heritage is demeaned or insulted. He's not your man way now. We came by very different routes to this partnership. And some people think we're a little bit different. You know, I've learned a few things watching. Watching him deal with all that we've been through over the past four years. It does things in his own way. On his own terms. Not much gets past him. And when he has an opinion He's liable to share it. He certainly kept things interesting. More importantly, President Donald Trump has kept his word to the American people. In a city known for talkers. President Trump is a door And few presidents have brought more independence. Energy. Or determination to that office. Four years ago, we inherited a military hollowed out. My devastating budget cuts. An economy struggling to break out of the slowest recovery since the Great Depression. Isis controlled a landmass twice the size of Pennsylvania. And we witnessed a steady assault. On our most cherished values. Freedom of religion. The right to life. That's when President Donald Trump stepped in. And from Day one. He kept his word. We rebuilt our military. Thiss president signed the largest increase in our national defense since the days of Ronald Reagan and created the first new branch of our armed forces in 70 years, the United States Space Force And with that renewed energy, we also returned American astronauts to space. On an American rocket for the first time in nearly 10 years and after years of scandal. Robbed our veterans of the care that you earned. In the uniform of the United States. We're open do your own thing although technically restaurants at fifty percent the still I think gyms they can't go to any a exercise places. They're still kind of limited for some reason but everything else just feels open. Heb The major supermarket chain at Texas his own. Heb No mask required. There's no Nazis at the door lines. No line no line can come in and go out as you go now. They say it's because they have everything properly ventilated which they do and they have have a good system and they feel that they're comfortable and they're done and there are. I'd say sixty percent people wearing masks outside inside everywhere. And there's the other forty percent and we're not wearing masks and the most noticeable thing. No one cares no stink. I know no crazy looks either way. It's just whatever I don't care what you WANNA do. Fine go ahead. We went to the mall. The Mall When you come through. One of the store entrances and we went through nordstroms and leave it. There are still malls in Texas at are operating and profitable operating. I've I don't know this one is ever going to be profitable after this half of it is it's a real problem. So nordstrom's big signs requirement all customers. We must wear mask and so we're walking around a little bit I. It's not a pleasant shopping experience with the mask and then we walk out into the mall. This is this is Mark from the United States Space Force paper lasers Pew you've seen using donation notes so we sent the keeper and I two beautiful covid nineteen. Antibodies Positive Armband. I have an issue with them. The color I an issue was made. I have an issue with the color. Exactly it's the wrong color. It should be green. This is more like great. Exactly I know I know. I know this is why we discuss these things on the show. It's very important we to in this case because we both saw the same thing I also received from Philip. Kerr who Very interesting fellow sent me along beautiful. Note Philip is a certified financial professional. Like Horowitz. So we can take your money and invest it and give more back to you how it always works. But in his spare time he makes holsters and since I was going to open. Carry with our new with our masks here. It's like. Oh you aware mass. I'm GONNA open carry. He made a beautiful hand tooled holster from my bursts of thunder. Three eighty. And just and I can't wait to have a full on shot with my cowboy boots with my covert band with my holster. And I'm good to go and my no agenda mass now. What more can you want? This is definitely Texas where things are good. And we're open. And I have a clip hathor several weeks being stuck inside thousands of blocks to Bolivar peninsula to make the most of their time while acord and I need go topless jeep weekend beats and a few drinks and GPS that in full swing get beaches on Bolivar Peninsula. This comes in. It's just across the state or reopening the coronavirus pandemic and beachgoers call. Your are still taking precautions to stay safe. Why some hands for twenty seconds. Keep them clean with German mortally. You have a good time. There's no issues but when you start acting silly like the sheriff said on previous interview we've got a jail. That's got a whole lot of empty holes. The sheriff's office have made at least sixty three arrests so far and connection a jeep weekend. Ask for the enforcement of social distancing. They say it's challenging to enforce. It's not possible to do that on this beach with the amount of people that we have here this. We can't do that. The additional presence of law enforcement has been a welcoming site for beachgoers given the history of this event so we're open in that regard that's Galveston Texas there. A little crazy over there but it does give us another two possible end of show ISOS and like I need to get then. She looks just like she sounds and Then there's this one twenty seconds there's are both good. Let me give mine. I only have one well. Isn't that the one okay? Is the divide in one. So you ain't black it strong. It's very strong. I think it'd be a decent. Ender little traumatizing. The last show. If you if you recall the last show we went to a rigmarole to all these different ISOS and then you picked an old evergreen. Why that was yeah. I don't know I'm sorry. There was a reason for it but I've forgotten anyway. This is Memorial Day weekend in the United States where we honor the fallen soldiers of all of our wars who have died to protect your freedom and mine and so we need to go out and we need to celebrate. You heard how they're doing it in Texas. The Colonel Ambassador. Dr Colonel General burks the scarf lady. I've totally fallen out of love with. She had to something to say about how to do it. And Listen Children. This introduction bakes but it's also why we continue to recommend to the public very clearly that you can't tell who's infected and so that's why you have to continue to social distance. There's a lot healthy people out there with cove it at look healthy and so we're asked to be afraid in continuously for you all to be outside to enjoy your Memorial Day weekend. Do Play Golf to hike. Doctor felt she said do play tennis with Mark Balls and to be out with your families that you have a psychological trick that she did you know. This is a throwback or call back to the tennis balls. That need to be marked. That was funny. I think it was very enlightening moment for everybody. Do you remember that she yes. She said play tennis with marked balls. But but there's no reason of all the things she could say. Yeah I agree. There's no reason to say. Just say play tennis. Yeah but but I think this is like a psychological trick to get you. Lighten up or loosen up to what she's saying. Cam Do play golf to hike doctor fouled. She said do play tennis with Mark. Balls and to be out with your families that you have been in the household with and to even consider sharing social distance space as long as you have utensils that are belonged to individuals and maybe can be thrown out immediately. There's a lot of things to think through. I know you can do this. I know the American people can do it. And so please go out this weekend understand you can go out. You can be outside. You can play golf. You can't play tennis with Mark. Balls get you know what I think. It's a sexual thing with her she wanted to have. She wants to be the sexy ha but it was. It was the New York woman this is this is where problem this New York woman where this comes from player lasted from the same household has to bring her own tennis balls so that you don't touch other people's with your hands you can kick also Hansen. So that was a funny moment at first and she's trying to capitalize on it like. Oh look at me. I'm also I can't help but feel bad and it's disturbing woman can do it and so please as you go out this weekend understand you can go out. You can be outside. You can't play golf. You can't play with mark balls you can go to the beaches if you stay six feet apart but remember that that is your face. And that's a space that you need to protect him. Ensure that your social distance for others on thank you so this was a guidance. That was very cavalier. I was very cavalier but there was something that I thought was weird She says you can use these that utensils as long as you destroy them immediately and she didn't even consider the idea of taking the utensils and putting him in a dishwasher. I am with my family picnic bench and I got a bunch. Why do I need plastic forks? Why are plastic forks? That's my family. Eat with the utensils in the house. What do I need? Some special utensil. On Him in in the park I will get tossed makes no sense Zach but a lot of it doesn't make sense and then we had just before the weekend. Another twist remember that most of the country is is still in some form of lockdown and people definitely are not as into it and out the way we are here and we've also we have a little bit of a head start of course Florida and Georgia. But you don't hear about that. You're not going to see any of that. We have to see suppress people and don't sit on the beach and all that now. Here's Us. We're supposed to stay home. Flattened LOOK NO I. It was flattened the curve for the hospitals for the for the system. Then we have to. We have to lower the the the case rate death rate but yet we're testing there's more cases and then he comes out with this well eight. I have no disagreement. We must protect the most vulnerable and be yes depending upon the dynamics of the infection in the particular State City Region County. That you're in. We certainly want to in a cautious way reopening. We can't stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences including consequences for help. And it's for that reason why the guidelines are being put forth so that the states and the cities can start to reenter and reopen. So we are enthusiastic about reopening and I think we can do it in a pace. That would be reasonable and that would get us back as a society from a morale standpoint as well as the economy. I don't want people to think that any of US feel that. Staying lockdown for prolonged period of time is the way to go. We had to do that when we had the that was exactly.

"Okay Let's talk about mass moment masks or muzzle saw masks Ramaz. We went out again This at Texas is now under a pretty much. We're open do your own thing although technically restaurants at fifty percent the still I think gyms they can't go to any a exercise places. They're still kind of limited for some reason but everything else just feels open. Heb The major supermarket chain at Texas is own. The mall a when you come through one of the store entrances and we went through nordstroms and leave it. Poop MASK COMES OFF. You can walk around whatever you want plenty. People without mass with mass stores mask no mask wind up looking like I don't WanNa go on there. The require a mask and you just walk on. It wasn't super-busy but there were people. There was commerce opened It's I think we're just basically open here in Texas and it feels pretty good so the beaches open well. I have a clip. But I I have some news one of our producers on just want to get his name right because this came in In my very own. Po box you know exactly. This is this is Mark from the United States Space Force paper lasers Pew Pew you've seen as using donation notes so we sent the keeper and I two beautiful covid nineteen antibodies. Positive Armband. I I have an issue with them. The color I have an issue was made. I have an issue with the color. Exactly it's the wrong color. It should be green. This is more like be great. This is definitely Texas where things are good and we're open and I have a clip hathor several weeks being stuck inside thousands of blocks to Ballo peninsula to make the most of their time while court scene and I need get golds G. weekend beats and a few drinks and GPS in full swing get beaches on Bolivar Peninsula. This comes in. It's just across the state or reopening the coronavirus pandemic and beachgoers Chelsea call. Your are still taking precautions to stay safe. Why some hands for twenty seconds. Keep them clean with their German mortally. A little crazy over there but it does give us another two possible end of show ISOS acorn scene and like I need to get then. She looks just like she sounds and Then there's this one twenty seconds there's are both good. Let me give mine. I only have one. Isn't that the one okay? Is the divide in one. So you ain't black it strong. It's very strong. I think it'd be a decent. Ender little traumatizing. The last show. If you if you recall the last show we went to a rigmarole to all these different ISOS and then you picked an old evergreen. That was yeah. And listen children this introductory bakes. But it's also why we continue to recommend to the public very clearly that you can't tell who's infected and so that's why you have to continue to social distance. Do you remember that yes? You can't play tennis with Mark. Balls you can go to the beaches if you stay six feet apart but remember that that is your face. And that's a space that you need to protect him.
