"It is interesting that Ford would talk about this in this term. And Ford talking about this in this term that he would believe in an incited so that the house has the power of the purse. While I was in the United States House representatives is always amazing to me how so many of my colleagues would want to talk about they didn't like this. They didn't like that. Whether it be funding for war or in the Middle East or whether it was for social programs or for expanding social programs that members of Congress seemed to forget that it was it was us who actually funded these programs. It actually started in the house. If you want to shut down and I'll just use the example here. If you wanted to shut down the involvement of the United States in a foreign conflict, then you know how you do it, you shut the money off. Now, members of college might not want to do that because then the consequences of that decision follow entirely upon the House and the Senate if they were to pass this to go to the president and then the president be forced to sign it or not sign it. This is the understanding of these roles. Now, again, you may be saying, well, if the president vetoes it and what's the issue? Well, if you've not watched lately, the House and the Senate, especially if they're together on a funding issues, can draw the government basically to a close. I mean, if something is so important that you feel like that it should not be happening is a member of the House of Representatives in particular where all funding measures start, you start with the power of the purse. I don't care where you are, what if you're in a family or in a government during a business, it all comes down to what you can afford, what you can't afford and who's allocates the money. So my question to us today is just what is these roles and how have we gotten out of balance? I would say that Ford in his time, although protecting executive power, but advocating for the Congress to have its legislative power, I think the role of the executive was overblown, then and is still overwhelmed today. And the problem we have is that Congress defers to whoever is in The White House if it be their own party, then they're more deferential to the executive. They're more deferential to the needs of the executive or the wants if you would of the executive. Then they are if they're in opposition parties. The problem here is that overrides the very essence of Congress. Congress is not designed to be the voice of the executive. It is designed to be an independent branch of our government in which the elected officials take the needs of their districts or their states and then craft policies for the entire United States. And that policy crafting that legislative bonding is then what bonds the executive to carry out those orders and the constitution under the judicial in our judiciary is bound to obad by the laws that are passed. You hear this all the time coming out of the Supreme Court. You hear it in other courts. If Congress wanted to change this, Congress could. If they want to leave this the same, then we as the judiciary are not going to change the law for Congress, they have to do that job. It's really, really frustrating today and as much as we do on this podcast as many guests as I have on this podcast and people who come in and talk about the issues, this role of government issue is probably one of the biggest problems that we have. And it's also one of the most obvious, but it is also going to be one of the most difficult because when we look at this problem, it is going to take Republicans and Democrats in Congress realizing that they have to make decisions and can not simply pass legislation that they think feels good or acts good, they're going to have to spell out what they want and can't use it as political fodder in the next election if it doesn't get carried out the way the intent was. And this is going to come, especially in the areas of finances and money in our country. If we do not come.

It's nine thirty five on the west coast and the protesters are saying that They demand congress grant a pathway to citizenship for the eleven million undocumented people in the country holding up a banner saying overrides the parliamentarian They're not going to do that. There aren't enough votes to override the parliamentarian in the united states states meanwhile joe mansion just released a fantastic quote. I fell out laughing when i saw it. The joe manchin says that democrats can elect more liberals if they want a bill as high as three point five trillion dollars that he's never been one. It's not going well for progressives today. So let's spend a moment on this you. You gotta pity the progressives you gotta pd progressives see a two thousand eighteen progressive swept into the united states house representatives led by the squad alexander. 'cause you cortez. Ilhan omar rashid to leave a lot of presley iona presley several others. They came in and they intended to shake up. The democratic coalition. The democrats in the united states house representative are a gerontocracy. They are a bunch of old people. The average i mean put it this way the average age i should say that for the media age of a democratic chairman of a house committee is ten years older than their republican counterpart. Believe it or not. The republicans in the house of representatives are younger than the democrats. Dancy pelosi steny. Hoyer jim clyburn. The three ranking democrats are all over eighty. It's not that way. With the republicans and so income a number of young progressive firebrands in two thousand eighteen swept in with an anti-trump animus across the country. And they decide they gotta shake things up. They gotta decide they decide. They're gonna shake things up because The democrat schumer. A charge have been in washington for the law of these progressives believe. They're out of touch with everyone else. And the progressives are surrounded by a bubble that includes a media bubble where young reporters who lean to the left are yes cleaning these progressives. Yes queen yes every time. Alexandra cosby cortez. This tax the rich. Yes queen sleigh queen. The problem is multifaceted. These democratic progressives have never been in the minority. They do not they know not what it's like to be in the minority in congress that they have no idea. Nancy pelosi hoyer job clever. They do remember. These people have been there for a while. They have been there with the democrats controlled everything a forty year stretch and there were there. Were they lost it all to newt gingrich and they were there with they got it back in two thousand six and they were there would they lost to the in two thousand ten. They were there with a gained it again in two thousand eighteen. And they know they're losing again. They just know based on the data the incumbent of the white house his party tends to lose. They've got eight seats they they've really got a three seat..

"70 K l i f Morning. It's 8 40 David, aiming on Tuesday morning. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is the third Republican to launch a primary challenge to well, is the third Republican in the race for governor, along with the incumbent governor. Greg Abbott, and we talked with him earlier this morning. One of the things we asked was if his primary effort is to make Texas redder than ever. Good morning, David Amy. Pleasure to be with you. I guess your your primary effort is to make Texas redder than ever Would would. Would that be one way of putting it? Well to keep in Texas, a strong constitutional conservative state, no doubt and to protect our borders, which, when I was down at the Roma district at two o'clock in the morning, standing on the real Grand reverend, watching 80 illegal immigrants across the river and Just be collected up and transported by the board Patrol. The No. Tell it well, though, end up So we have some serious issues We've got to deal with here in Texas. For our future. You were the former chairman of the Texas Republican Party. What were your primary concerns with Governor Abbott and the way he is running the state? Well, I think that when you look at how it was handled the covid issues I mean, we lost close to 10,000 small businesses during the Covid issue. The fact that we had the governor that was really not working with the Legislature, which is what you're supposed to do after 30 days of emergency call the Legislature in Doing a lot of things by executive Action Executive order. Uh, 200 almost $90 million were appropriate about the governor not through the legislative process for contact tracing appropriations supposed to be done through the through the Senate Budget Committee or the House Budget Committee. And several other things, but most important, we've got to do something about our border. This legislative session that we just saw was not a very strong, not a successful legislative session, which is the reason why they have to come back on the eighth of July. I think you'd have to agree that the whole pandemic issue was one of, you know, once in a lifetime deal an emergency to be sure if the governor were to take the time deal with these issues through going through the legislative process, couldn't that just bogged everything down so that nothing would have happened or or been nothing would have been done except for watered down solutions. Well, The first thing is that you never even an emergency. You don't get rid of the rule of law and that that's the case that we will start establishing dictatorial rule. Which is what I think we saw happen a little bit because no elected official has enumerated power to decide who or what is essential. The most essential thing in the United States America and in Texas is liberty. It is about if that Benjamin Franklin once said, those who would surrender essential liberty for temporary security will at the end, deserve neither liberty nor security. We're talking with Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is a former chairman of the Texas Republican Party, also a former congressman out of Florida. Now he's running for governor here in the state of Texas. Incumbent governor Greg Abbott has quite the campaign war chest. I think something like $40 million. He has the endorsement of former president Trump. How do you compete against that? Well, first and foremost, I'm not running to serve President Trump, and I'm glad that the governor has his endorsement. I'm here to serve God country in Texas. And the other thing is 10. Years ago, when I was a freshman member of the United States House representatives, I raised $19 million and I think that with the name and face recognition, I have the fact that I traverse the state of Texas. In the past year. 33,000 Miles. I'm well known at the state, so I'm not worried about a war chest. I'm worried about making sure that message gets out and we connect with the people and they'll make a decision to come The primary next year sometime, probably May, June because of redistricting. Alright speaking, Let's stay with that topic. Just for a moment. You just just announced officially your candidacy. But do you have any organizations? That are already supporting you or vowing their support in including funding. Well, I mean, you know, we announced on Independence Day July the fourth and yesterday was still a holiday. So out of that we have too many organizations out. But we already have endorsements that are coming in and the most important endorsements that I have so far from my former soldiers. The people that I've served in combat with, so I'm not concerned about you know the Pac's and corporations or whatever. But when you have the endorsement of people that you have, you know, shared the blood and the sweat and the tears with that's the most important thing to me. Earlier in our conversation, you mentioned illegal immigration. What do you think about the governor's plan to rebuild the wall here along the Texas border, using Public money. I mean donation money. Well, you know, a wall is not a panacea. If you take the time to go down to the board, you'll say to that we have a lot of systems that make up this a legal immigration issue that we're facing. So I think first and foremost when I saw National Guard troops aiding people that were being Ferried across the Rio Grande, wherever we need to have a full deployment of our national guard. They're not. They're assisting people to come into Texas illegally, but they should be there to interdict and to stop the flow of people coming into Texas illegally. We need to also start looking at instead of go fund the accounts. Maybe we should Tax the Remittances that people are who are here illegally or send it back to these countries, which is up in the billions of dollars. But most importantly, we've got to go after the funding and the financing of these criminal and terrorist organizations that we call the cartels. And that's something that we could do right here in Texas because that's their center of gravity. They're making $25 million a week. And you know when you consider the Texas is the number one state for human sex trafficking, we have got to stop this thing and we have got to get to the root cause of it. That is former U. S representative, former chairman of the Texas Republican Party now Candidate for governor of Texas. Allen West, and you can listen to the full interview at K l i f dot com including the interview with fellow candidate Don Huffines 8 46 Right now, let's have another look at the Tuesday traffic. "Continue one more segment on this hour than another full hour. Coming up. Don't go away, David. Master go through. My question to you is Congresswoman Green from the Great State of Georgia has been she's made herself household word, at least in the house of the Representatives. Um What should be done with her. If anything, Her Republican colleagues should join Democrats in making a mass call for her resignation. Why the Republican Party has to have some standard to say This is unacceptable. Not only is what she believes in coherent and the sign of mental illness, but it's anti Semitic. And it's hateful and hostile to many Americans. When the John Birch Society is that speech will go ahead. Is it free speech? Well, of course. Is she and game Is she engaging in free speech? Well, let me just finish if she engaging is free speech and again. If anyone wants to throw her butt out of Congress, it should be the members of her home district. Certainly, but we saw the Democratic Party. Exert pressure on Al Franken to resign. We saw the Democratic Party apply pressure to Katie Harper in California to resign. I would imagine that Republicans do have a line that if she crossed they would ask her to resign. What if she burned an American flag, for example, in the parking lot of the capital? Let's that Let's look, this is a dance that line and reports. Let's do this for their own good. Just like you wanted Dave Dave. Let's let Chris Roebling who is a Republican. Weigh in on this because hey may agree with you. I don't know. Well, okay, um, one way that we encouraged Steve King of Iowa to resign after you know. A record replete with horrendous statements. We removed him from all committees, so he became sort of an island to himself, and I forget it this moment if he lost reelection or lost a day, Mary But there I am not entirely familiar with the things she has said, and I, But I will tell you this if she's crossed the line on anti Semitism. She's out. That's it. There's no place for that. There's no place for ethno nationalism in the Republican Party, these air all tropes that air put on us by maybe not David, but some of the people he probably some of the people who read his stuff at His Web sites. So so if she's crossed any of those lines, then the Kevin McCarthy ought to exercise leadership to get her removed. And then she goes back to her district as ineffectual Gadd fly irrelevant, and they deserve a better member of the United States House representatives of that Yeah, and what I would say to that. I certainly agree with that. And Bruce, you said it's free speech. And that's true. But the First Amendment doesn't guarantee anyone a committee assignment in Congress or even a seat in Congress and Kevin McCarthy and others can and should act as gatekeepers. Justus, you would with your program if I came on here. And started articulating anti Semitic conspiracy theories. I doubt you'd invite me back on the show. Right? I wouldn't but on the other hand, if we're talking about, you know, free elections in this country that when you're running for office, you could say outrageous things. Most people don't get away with saying outrageous things she did. People will argue that you want Eleanor Marks. Ellen Omar and members of the squad too many people say they shouldn't be elected. They should be recalled. My point. Is there a place or however you say her name Is guilty of Repeating. Anti Semitic trope, Right and Ilan Omar has been apologizing for the use of anti Semitic formulations since the time she was a state representative, But she's still in Congress. She's like, and I put my point if she still she still is in Congress. And people still elector. And so my question is, if we have a we have a situation we have We have a body were 435 representatives are there representing the thoughts and opinions of people around the United States? Are people who have bazaar outrageous anti semetic feelings. They should they be allowed to have a voice in Congress. Well, here's the other issue Bruce in, especially when she had to say she shouldn't be on it. She hasn't yet had to answer for it. But she has repeatedly called for the hanging of Nancy Pelosi. Now that to be should also disqualify her from having that seat. I mean, this is a woman that makes Sarah Palin look like Eleanor Roosevelt. What you're saying Bruce Is yours. There. Remember David, There are members of the Hollywood left, who have said things about Republicans and about Donald Trump, including calling for his assassination is murder besmirching of of his Children. They do that, and they get laughter and they end and they and they become a punchline on Jimmy Kimmel. They get away with it. They say outrageous things. Maybe they should not be saying things and they get away with it. And again, there's crazy. There's people out there that every time Jimmy Kimmel makes a comment like that. There's people. There's a reason why Jimmy Kimmel is still on the air because a lot of people think Jimmy Kimmel is funny. Even when it may be talking about assassinating the president, United States It ain't funny, but he still.
