He went back at it the Heat and the Rangers against the Flyers Today. He scored a power play goal midway through the first period. But that was all he got. And that was all the Rangers got his fill help. He was able to shut things down to one was your final score. That was just the third victory for the struggling Flyers in their last 10 contest. Also today, another great matchup between Vegas and Colorado, Colorado winning last night's game Vegas bounces back today in overtime to defeat the lance By a final score of 3 to 2 Max Patch already with the game winning go. He had an assist earlier in that contest, so Vegas is now 17 of their last nine while Colorado loses you for just the second time. In their last 10. Here's The Deal With The United Center Vaccination Site In Chicago

"Let's start with governor pritzker. This is what he had to say today about. The vaccine roll out in illinois has neighboring michigan announces. That it will open. Vaccinations everybody starting. In april as we have promised here in illinois and as we have been promised by the federal government that we would reach one hundred thousand doses per day by the middle of march. We've arrived mike flannery. The president says everybody's going to be eligible by may first governor pritzker says we're game here in illinois. Do you believe it i do. I think they the after a rough start. I talk peres. Says a guy who went around to the walmart and cvs is and the to supercenter over one hundred eighth woodland asking. Have you got any leftover back. Seen vaccines for the poor. Things have really gotten a lot better. I've got both my doses of the pfizer vaccine. I think this thing is finally on track. And i see mike flannery down there in beverly get your green tie in the irish flag. You're getting ready for a certain holiday in a few weeks. Megan hickey there's been a lot of confusion at the united center about who exactly has been eligible. The city has changed. Its eligibility standards because so many folks from outside of chicago or signing up as of now who is eligible to get the vaccine at the united center right now. They're still in the one. A one b Young people within the city limits and really the rules changed in the middle of the game because obviously when people started signing up it was a much broader eligibility than that and that was honestly source of a lot of confusion over the weekend and even into monday and tuesday because you know the the eligibility requirements changed in a lot of the people who maybe were outside of chicago who had signed up. Were confused they do. What does my appointment still count. If i go there you know my still going to be able to get my second dose. Are they going to say good luck. Find it somewhere else so there were just a lot. We were getting a lot of confusion about that and you know that on top of some scheduling issues. People getting error messages when they were trying to sign up. You know saying oh no actually. Your appointments been rescheduled and then another email saying disregard that that email was was not It's not accurate so meghan or those. Yeah i'm still ongoing. Or if they have the iron those out we're hearing less you know less confusion about it. I'm i'm not certain that it's been entirely ironed out. I know we asked how many people got error messages. How many people were involved in that which we never actually got a hard number on that but just being out there. I was at the united center. Monday on tuesday monday. Even before you know nations had started a lot of people were complaining about that. But i will say once. They made their way through the vaccination processing came out on the other end. They were so grateful and hopeful and almost had forgotten that they were so Set before they had gone into. Get their shot in greg pratt part of this roll out. The city says now they will be reaching out to the hardest hit zip codes to urge people to come to the united center to get their vaccination. Is that helping at all. drive up the equity numbers. Yeah i think so. I think the making it eligible for neighborhoods like south shore little villages. Ellison is is clearly going to drive that up there are people from those neighborhoods who are signing up for it I think that that's been very helpful. That was major problem in the beginning. It's less of a problem but it's probably one of those things that without more. Without ongoing targeting an ongoing efforts aimed at reaching those communities can very easily all off. Which would be bad. So it's so it's so they're they're working consciously work on an and that's probably a good thing

United Center mass vaccination site officially up and running for Chicago residents

"Nearly one in five illinois residence has received at least the first dose of corona virus vaccine thousands. More will reach that point over the coming weeks at their doctor's office a pharmacy and as of today at the united center the federally run. Mass vaccination site officially opened this morning to delight in confusion. Amanda finicky joins us now. The united center. Amanda how's it going. Their brand s. Some six thousand people are set to get the pfizer vaccine here at the united center for the next six weeks. But if you are trying to get one of those appointments or perhaps you were able to snag on and then you're confused about whether you're going to keep it or not. Well there is good reason to be confused even dignitaries got their numbers a bit muddled today with one official at first saying that one hundred and ten thousand appointments had already been booked and then leader or clarification from the city's public health commissioner saying no as of this point about fifty thousand reservations made and later in the day. Dr allison arwady really did seem to give a nod to that confusion. And i know there's been a lot of Questions about the united center. And i know that the focus the renewed focus on equity that has come Has led to some changes and even some confusion for people and i apologize for people who are feeling unsure about this resource for a gone a quick note that the media is set apart some from where individuals that are getting that vaccine till eight o'clock tonight our media guidelines did ask that we not bother them for the sake of their privacy so the video that you should be seeing on. Your screen is actually from a preview yesterday afternoon now as for that confusion that stems from a day prior sunday when accessed to appointments suddenly got switched at first anyone age sixty five or older from anywhere in illinois could sign up there was also a huge rush during a brief window with seven hundred fifty four appointments per minute booked during a window that let in younger individuals with certain co morbidity things like cancer or pulmonary disease officials say that early data from that showed that less than forty percent of those who got appointments were kogyo residents already called that unacceptable defeating the entire purpose of fema deciding to put a mask backs initiation clinic here. Chicago's west side. We have a lot of neighborhoods that have been burdened heavily by kobe. A lot of heavily black and heavily latin next neighborhoods a lot of neighborhoods that have more barriers to getting vaccinated and one of the decisions for placing the The vaccination center here was recognizing that we really wanted to reach chicago residents so for now. There is really no way to make an appointment here. Temporarily access cut off. It is set to reopen later this week. In the meanwhile local and state officials say that they're going to try to work to fill those appointments behind the scenes with an aim of sixty percent of reservations going to chicago residents thirty percent to residents of suburban cook and then ten percent for those who live throughout the rest of illinois this city in particular targeting folks from vulnerable communities including those near the united center humble park for example but also a handful of other zip codes that includes mckinley park chatham roseland south shore and then in cases you're going to have chunks of appointments booked and set aside for community groups to help get the word out. We didn't really get a ton of specifics from officials on that now or what. He says that this focus on equity isn't just the right thing to do. She says it's the way to nip cove in the good also. The thing that gets our city past covid making sure more people are vaccinated in the heaviest hit zip. Codes is how we actually decrease our case rate how we decrease the risk variants. And how we're able to reopen the city and have lower risks to that end. she says. The city is making progress in decreasing case. It's particularly in latin next chicagoans ends where we now are seeing case rates for covid of latin x chicago that are not higher than Than you would expect them to be based on population where our case rates are really looking like the city as far as race ethnicity goes

"The United Center John Weidman, along with Troy Murray and Chris Boden for Chicago. Blackhawks hockey. The Blackhawks win tonight in overtime on an Alex to break it overtime goal 35 seconds into the over time frame. Set up by Patrick Kane. And it's just a joy. Watching those two work Their magic together, especially in the overtime frame was so much ice Troy, where they can really use their skills and not be encumbered by Being surrounded by three players at one time when they try to make a play. Well, it just happened. You know, they were a little bit casual on what they wanted to do to begin with. And you know, they hustled hard, though. After the puck turned over, they realized that there was emergency on the defensive side of it. And that caused is you mentioned the turnover. And the ability of Alex to break it to find that punk and then quickly transition before any structure could happen defensively for the blue jackets, so a nice job. Right, Well, the black cocks after tonight, as I mentioned, will embark on a six game road trip. They'll start it off in the motor city with a pair against the Detroit Red Wings, then travel to Carolina for repair down there, Carolina involved in the trade today, Ryan did single to the Ottawa Senators. "Welcome back to United Center correspondent with you as the Black box fall in the opener of this four game home stand to the Columbus Blue Jackets by a final score of 2 to 1. They'll rematch on Sunday evening here at the United Center, and then a couple days later, the Carolina Hurricanes will come to town for games on Tuesday and Thursday. But let's go through a recap with some of the highlights of this one. And for the third consecutive game, the Hawks had a early power play opportunity. Uh, a couple times in Nashville. They had that we're able to deliver this third time tonight when Liam Foodie was called for tripping two minutes and 22 seconds into that. Not a very good power play for the black boxes. They were not able to get anything going, and then they were whistled for their first penalty. Well, more than 7.5 minutes in Philip Currie shot was called for hooking. And a Blackhawks penalty kill that had been perfect in Nashville earlier this week. They allowed Columbus a very struggling Columbus power Belated Take a one Nothing lead Here's Domi. Fit to the line. Pope now by Warren Ski Over in New York Strand fires he scars Oliver Bjork's Strand from the left wing circle one times this past Kevin Lincoln, and it's a power play goal and Columbus leads one upping. Yeah. York strands third of the year, the 8 53 mark from Cam Atkinson and Zach Warren Ski. That made it one nothing in favor of the blue jackets. Shots on goal in the first period is Troy and I were joking a little bit about only seven shots, four for the Blackhawks and three for Columbus. But Columbus ends up leading one Nothing even though the Blackhawks probably had three good chances of the four shots that they had on goal as they also had a good first period at the Dat, winning seven of 11 face off, So on the period number two, we went and the road team, which hasn't difficulty scoring the only average 2.5 goals per game So far in this young season, there more The defensive type team, at least until Patrick Line is able to show up next week. He will miss Sunday's game here against the Blackhawks as well, but they were able to take a to nothing lead when the Blackhawks were In the neutral zone. And then Eric Robinson found himself skating in all alone on Kevin Lincoln. It brilliant handoff by suitor in front from Mitchell. He wiped it in front of them couldn't complete the mission with the back and the other way. Robinson down the left wing Hawk zone. He shoots his cars, and this is over the left shoulder. Of Kevin Lincoln and and into the top corner of the net. It's the blue Jackets, too, and the Hawks no score there. Robinson second of the year, Bjork's Strand, picking up his second point of the night with the only assist on that one. At the 3 39 mark, and then about half. A minute later, Seth Jones was called for high sticking. Blackhawks had themselves good movement on their power play, but were unable to get one past. Jonas Corpus Alice, who remained a two nothing game, but then at we approach the midway point of that second period when Alexander Texi, it was called for tripping, the Blackhawks went to the man advantage for the third time. This time we're able to come through strong in the left circle. Now to coagulate with the right circles, shoots and purpose sallow down with the butterfly safe. Drone. I agree and look if you an MLS anywhere close to some of the top European leagues it would be even bigger here in America well of course but the world is smaller now and more people are cool with watching another country sport like before that was in.

is that about fourteen fifteen games for everybody this point yeah about twelve maybe thirteen games depending on how many you have left on your schedule so the salary cap will not go up what we expected it was it was going to make a a preferably large jump of this year which was certainly going to help out the team like the Blackhawks by if the salary cap doesn't go up as we would expect because of this there's talk around the league that they may grant each team a compliance buyout now this is what they did the last time the league went on a long break and that compliance buyout would give you an opportunity to take that that that salary that that albatross that surround your sat there your salary cap structure that's holding you down and we all know what contract that would be for the Black Hawk the prince he broke and I don't know every single team has one of those certainly not to the degree that the Seabrook contract is easy is in movable this point has a not on no move trade no trade clause because of his health and as production he won't be movable anyway I need to end up eating a lot of that and he's got five more years left on the deal right right for this year there is one more yes six point eight seven five million it's almost seven million dollars a capital each year so that would be really of a blessing from the hockey gods to the black box for rocky words and the organization so it but I you know that that sounds like a young a possibility in the invoice would that give us Stan Bowman some flexibility to do some things the deputy commissioner bill Daly was on with cap and company earlier this week as ideal check sat in with the cat man and they talk to daily about the options for returning to play this season all the practical matter of course there's a time frame within which something that's possible and after which nothing that's probably possible unless we we wanted to run into next season and and I think our our current you know our current mindset is that we don't want to interfere at all with next season or at least being able to complete the season in full next season so that the there's realistically of course there's a timeline but I think that timeline is very flexible kind of depend depending on what transpires over the next period of time and and I can't even define the period of time because things have been moving so rapidly it could be a period of days before we kind of know where we are and adjust to that reality or it could be a period of months it really is uncertain at this point certainly the CDC issued initial guidance for the first time in a while on Sunday evening indicating that they wanted to avoid mass gatherings of fifty people or more for the next eight weeks now eight weeks isn't set in stone I suppose it could be earlier that that they might lift that but I I think the more likely event is it's eight weeks or longer so let's see you know how the the virus progresses over that time period and make the the best decisions we can given the information we have so you know as much as everybody would like to kind of jump to the end and say this is what we're looking at and this is what it would be played in how would be played in where it would be played in who would be permitted in the in the buildings I think that's those are all variables that we don't have any answers to yet so I think we have to keep them all alive I think we have to continue to do work on them and and make sure they're ready to roll out if and when it comes time to roll them out and and we're doing that we have we have a lot of talented people working on that virtually constant basis and involving those plans as we move forward Hey Brian it sounds like all leagues are are kind of what working together on this because you're not going to see the NBA's starred in the NHL still remain dark and if they decide to to return to action a both of these leagues are going to do this together yeah no doubt about it that and when you look at a bill Daley don't mention their alluded to that every day they they look at their different scenarios and they discard some scenarios with each passing day or week right because realistically it as you point out the CDC thing already puts you into mid may like rocky was talking about trying to get the thing up and going by mid may that is very optimistic because everyone agrees that you have to get everyone back and at least have a week week or two to get back on the ice and not knowing what that format's gonna look like how did the players do they just stay in shape and if you were one of those bubble teams and maybe you were you know you have that three percent probability to get in the playoffs and and they're not going to know what the format looks like for another month or so and and that might be optimistic what do you do as a player do you just stay in shape as soon you're gonna be playing hockey again and and maybe post season hockey right gone right from three percent into the into the Stanley Cup playoffs I know how does that what what does that look like for for people of her it's very challenging for the play will talk to Brian Campbell about that and get his thoughts on you know because now they're limited they can't go to the facility to work out they can't get on the ice to skate in less I guess they could you know red ice time somewhere and and in small groups you know hit the ice to try to get a back up to speed but they're never going to get to where you know you normally would be as you would enter the Stanley Cup playoffs you've got a lot of things in play here you've got you know the legal fresh legs fresher he was rushed legs that's true you know the league here is is July first in the NHL Solana contracts if they're set to expire would expire by July first well if you're going to extend the Stanley Cup playoffs into July the league will obviously have to amend that and figure out how those those contracts are extended you also the Olympics that are in play here and I would assume somewhere in the near future the Olympics will be officially canceled until they've been adamant that they're playing and they're they're gonna have the games and no one's going Tom otherwise but the way this this thing spend more than a little fluid thing you'd want is the world coming together either yeah you know I mean it just doesn't seem Olympic village of all right I mean I just it's I don't know how to solve them works so plate let's play that out N. B. C. from like July twenty fifth or whatever twenty fourth is when the Olympics are set to start through the first week in August they've got three weeks of Olympic space ready to go well if the Olympics get canceled I think that would push the likelihood of the NHL wanting to go longer into July and into August and put that in play because you've got that window you're just went on NBC is the rights holder that's right for the Stanley Cup playoffs sold all of a sudden they don't have the Olympics which is their bread and butter which they spend billions of dollars on to promote all their other shows they might look something like this that well you know what let's push to have that NHL season extended it and it be interesting how they balance that because you heard bill daily say that basically next year next season sacrosanct right they what they want if all things being equal they want to start up on time next year even if this is somehow wash and they have to figure out you know how to award the Stanley Cup I guess the the rules actually say that they will award the Stanley Cup to the team with the most points of if this season is our cancel completely so it will be interesting and and I again logistically I don't know when those decisions have to be made even have that feel that the Olympic void for NBC in and be the centerpiece of of summer viewing for for me a baseball fully be starting up at that point but who knows so they're obviously this is like you said it's fluid it's gonna change week to week and these leagues must have all these different models set up for if you know if it's sixty days out that we are going to try to resume if it's I mean at some point you're going to have to say there has to be like a drop dead date right right a because you're all of a sudden now you're affecting the following season as well yeah in so I mean here's hoping that the rocky wasn't just pull on the twenty four team scenario out of his hat and that he's that's one of the things that's being considered again it would make perfect sense giving the the teams that would get included in that post season because our hockey hotbeds in Montreal Chicago New York and would be a terrific a boon for the league and and may be great for Blackhawks fans last week on this show we were discussing if rocky and Jerry Reinsdorf would follow suit like some other NBA teams and take care of arena employees United center employees who are missing game day tracks here and lo and behold later that day a Jerry and rocky came together and I asked rocky Wirtz how old that all came about the decision to pay the United center employees between rocky and Jerry Reinsdorf here's what he had to say well it's really very simple so we got together and on Friday and we had multiple peoples from the bulls the hawks United center staff on the phone we're talking about Bekah ports we're gonna deal and we didn't come to any conclusion so Jerry called me about twelve o'clock on Saturday and said you know you and I can figure this out together as it is because we know you know what you know she had skews me yeah we'll figure it out because you know Jerry is a winner I hope I hope I'm as sharp as jury as in in in his business career I ever will be and he's a class act individual whose word is his bond never takes I know because it may have to do because he remembers everything he said you know let's let's you and I come together it's okay remember Jerry nine twenty five years and have only one disagreement our whole business career and that's what's the name the build out at the restaurant at the United center which is now queen he's he wanna call Iraqis I said no no that's not gonna happen recalling queens that's only is remain ever had so within a few minutes she said okay so much per game you have seven games have seven games because about three half million dollars yeah he said you and I are gonna miss a paycheck but the people that work force are gonna miss a paycheck so I think we should pay them I see Jerry I can't really hear more and all of let's figure out how we can get the message out and we'll we'll we'll reconvene at that meeting the phone meeting we had on Friday with all the powers that may be and get that message out that was at one thirty by two o'clock was done so that was rocky and how he came to the decision which Jerry Reinsdorf a week ago other names that they discarded for the restaurant outposts yeah learn these well it is yeah so please that was the if police below hello the whole restaurant be smoking though and that's true be a smoking section but that was that was you know one of the nice things that that we saw come out of are tough situation that we're dealing here with globally right now but in our neck of the woods to see rocky and Jerry step up like that is huge it's it's remarkable that those two guys the only have the one disagreement was over.

Nick McCarvel on covering tennis in new ways

"Guest today is nick mccarville he is seen and heard all over the world according as well as on-court emceeing and he got his start as a writer nick mccarville joins us in New York City which is where he lives and we talk about everything from how he got his Argentina's reporting and how he made the switch from writing to being on camera we also go over his schedule and how he manages traveling all over the world as well as his memories that include interviews with Roger Fetter of course who else let's jump right into that interview with Nick mccarville thank you for joining us thanks for having me like our makeshift midtown studio fancy podcast stuff happening or in New York and we caught neck on his way to fly because what else would you be doing it's actually funny because When I was an intern at tennis magazine actually to get an internship at tennis magazine I brought a suitcase into the lobby to go apply as I was of as headed out of town in New York I was there here visiting friends for Thanksgiving and literally twelve years later here I am back at Tennis Channel Tennessee com with a suitcase things have changed but we're still in New York City with our suitcases dragging around makeshift studio so yeah life is good life is good tell us a little bit about post. US Open Life what he's been up to Yeah I post US Open had some time off which was great and then it to Geneva to Labor Cup which is really cool I'd never been to Switzerland which was awesome and it was pretty cool to see that whole set up with I mean is essentially the Roger Federer Copen the Roger Cup In Geneva the fans were so into Federer in Switzerland and I think that when they have that first iteration of Labor Cup they wanted to have it in Switzerland very soon after it started and so to see all of that fanfare for Federer for Labor Cup in Geneva was really cool and I did that social media hosting and some stuff with tennis Australia team that was there and I've been hanging out just like catching on a lot of work stuff that I had during the summer that kind of built up okay so nick I have to ask I am like super huge fetter fan and you know people think that if you're in your home country like they'll probably leave you alone if you're such a big deal but like can he even walk around without being bothered like I've always wondered that Yeah I don't have a clear answer it's a good question but I saw a couple of times we did events within the city and there were like active crowds arounds ederer and obviously you know they opening ceremonies sort of thing at the government building that was really cool and there's a huge amount of fans there I think most of them for Roger and then a couple times we're leaving the hotel he was staying at and there were definitely people gathered around to take pictures and stuff but I did see miracle at one point the kids in the minivan I don't know where they were going but like she was driving which I was like a little bit surprised by was like Oh America's driving the kids around Switzerland which makes sense Ah I we didn't follow respecting America's privacy because I know it's good for me yes I mean that's like a half answer but I think that obviously people everywhere in Switzerland know him know who he is but I think he can still lead somewhat of a normal life esh you get nervous interviewing him because you've done It alive my my most memorable standout Nick Macabre moment is you interviewing Roger Federer in the twitter Blue Room in Australia after he won you also have been Serena select course everyone got to go through the twitter blue room but is there a bit of a different level when you're talking to him or you kind of your professional your cool I mean I'm never professional or cool I always attempt to be both and I fail but no I mean Raj at Labor Cup is so chill because it is his vance right and so he was so easy work with Joe I mean he's always easy to work with but especially in Geneva like I pulled him in for a few things kind of last minute because social media's always on the bottom of the totem pole after the you like TV's and newspapers and that kind of thing so the one that's still gets me a little bit as Rafa like I feel like sometimes rough does or doesn't want to do stuff so I try to be that'd be calculated when I actually asked Ross to do something because I feel like sometimes he's not in the mood to do things I agree I get that vibe and you're not alone there they get that vibe to I'm not even work with them now nowhere near as much as you have but Roger makes things Kinda feel comfortable especially Labor which is what you said it's like he's way more relaxed but ofo makes me feel anxious and kind of makes everyone feel anxious and it's no knock on Rafa either like he is just kind of his personality also comes into a room and he'll shake everyone's hand and say hello and be you know very cordial but I think he's they just have to do so much that I try to be a little more like on my game whereas Roger may be makes you feel relaxed like that's kind of his approach do you do they recognize you does he like South Nick No yeah I actually don't know I I mean I always say hey roger how are you introduce myself every time but I've kind of gotten past the point of carrying if the players know my name I used to like I used to be a thing where I was the player to know my name and I'm just like okay I'm as long as we have a good interview and they feel comfortable and I'm asking somewhat interesting questions than I'm pretty that'd be lovely okay so you've been to all the grand slams so you were at Labor Cup I mean what kind of energy was that like how different from Grand Slam to Labor Cup I mean what are the major differences that you found being there well it's just a completely different event overall fan energy was really awesome and I did Chicago last year as well when it was here which is really cool and the energy in that stadium I the one thing I always sort of given example of Labor Cup because they're still those people out there that are kind of like what is this event and it's so funny it's flooding I mean I I agree with you like we've got to figure out what it is and I think hopefully in the next few years it will but last year in Chicago the entire United Center getting rowdy for Diego Schwartzman that to me is like a pit of misers layup sort of its power but Irene I think it's just a different event overall than a Grand Slam I mean you know it's particular sessions the matches are shorter there's fewer matches it's only three days but the energy is big and the team aspect like people buy into more the demoralized vs Europe thing than I thought they would which is really cool when you're in the venue and it feels like Europe definitely felt like the home team in Geneva which school I love it I was in Chicago last year so I know you talking about is a different different five and as someone working at you feel a lot more comfortable oh I think because there are more comfortable and laid back so I totally get what you're saying but I want to ask a little bit about your star you know I know you started more the writing side than being in front of the era so let's go through the timeline of Nick mccarville tennis reporting career was God because I know a little bit about it but it's it's good you can't see every night and the podcast but she just yawned as you ask that question so I had to call you I'm not I'm sorry I just had a rough night asleep it's funny I know that I shouldn't be ups come on Tell Jet Lag oscillators real so much more annoying than Australia jetlag don't like what is going on I'm so sorry did not could not be worse No it actually I mean I I kind of a little anecdote at the start but I literally was here being friends in two thousand six when I was in college and was like I really want an internship at tennis magazine that was like the big thing for me and I was flying out that Monday after Thanksgiving wing and rolled my suitcase into the office and went up to the front desk manager and was like hey can can I apply for an internship and that summer I interned at tennis magazine we're just cool it was like kind of my first foray into tennis journalism I didn't tennis blogging college and then like they're soon after once I came to New York I was still doing a little bit but kind of my like big break within tennis journalism was in two thousand nine I had been in New York for a year and the New York Times I just started like a whole family of blogs and one of those blogs was called straight-sets which was the tennis blog for the New York Times so I started writing for them most of an unpaid they paid a little bit for certain blogs that they would end up using on the website in different sections but that was kind of my I like breakthrough and then from there I worked on some side projects and got my first writing job with them. MSNBC DOT COM in two thousand and ten the next year and then slowly started making my way into the tennis world that's like way way back I remember for some reason the first memory our first thing I came across was USA. Today I mean so I I worked so I was with at Msnbc and then the daily beast which is a news website and then in the summer of two thousand twelve I got offered to do NBC Olympics coverage for their website as well as work on the US Open APP I was like the APP copywriter so I did all of the copy for the US Open Up in twenty twelve which is it's so funny like how different apps work now like I was specifically hired just for that but those two gigs basically spurred me to start doing the tournament work as Irena Sanger Donald at the Grand Slams and that got me into like writing for tournament websites social media helping people manage their websites overall like digital content and then in two thousand fifteen USA Today hired me as their tennis reporter so I did that for ears Twenty fifteen and sixteen and did that cool feature about Irena in Paris and her

"O'Hare forty one at midway forty-two along Chicago's lakefront next news update will be at eleven o'clock. I'm Andrea darlas Caesar the stories that matter on Chicago's very own seven twenty WGN. Back to the United Center. Blackhawks lose three one the Philadelphia Flyers. They remain at seventy four points said about the only saving grace out of the game tonight is that Amazon loss and even though Colorado one they're also sitting at seventy eight points. So the gap of the Blackhawks trailed that second wildcard remains four points. It just belongs to Colorado now instead of Arizona, and would you not Blackhawks with game Saturday in Denver against the Avs. And then the return date Sunday night here at the United Center against the ads as well. It just ramps up the urgency in those two particular games as there's now just nine to go while Colorado. The hawks have a game in hand on Colorado, which it says eight games remaining the door remains open, but time is running out. Let's get some post game reaction. Now. First of all, it's here from the captain Jonathan tapes. Wilson. Pretty good times. Still pretty frustrating that so the huge opportunity to a that. We fall short so stolen say we played as good on building that we have on the road. So we've got to find a better here. And we can't allow ourselves to full shorten candy points anymore. What did you see? Stop the team. Wasn't sure if it had session. Face all the time. Serious situation understand blow the whistle. But it's still there. We have another chance it's not the difference making a game. So. Goaltender guys done. There's always more. Find ways to win puck battles around the ghetto. Second efforts. Pretty finally we better in front of them. Here's his last night games. Yeah. Either way if we score not we gotta get some women's Moffitt. We're not going to find that poise and just moving the park and get an open for each other. I think we're things are going really well for us. Just four guys playing really well without the puck and being available moving too quick. Just being relaxed with it. So. I think your power it goes through ups and downs throughout the season. We've been hot at times. I think it's just a workout victim got to find ways to get back on the scoresheet made a difference for team Jonathan as you said, you gotta win these games now fortunate that you have Colorado these next two games as the team in front of you. Yeah. Can go one QA. So obviously, we want to the best occupy Sherwin control of who gives the points that these next to. Ernest losses. Boston. Just turning on this one. Facing a Gordon? Just to have about it. Greeted stocks. Cheers. Second third, and again like I said there's you can always do more try and find the second effort's going going the initial shot. We give them credit..

So remember, I told you it wars for stanzas or whatever and for that segment. Michigan state with a pronounced victory. Eight a four point victory. You will because it was a one point win in the first answer say cut this thing defied found out about a balanced plays. They almost always liked to go to cash Winston on the weak side into a hand off. Let's see if they bury that they scored five times on this yesterday. Matt mcquade lobs it in there. It is. They run wigs did off the handle. A good hedge by testy, but the return to going to the point is open for three in and out. Rebound Xavier Simpson for Michigan. Those were the shots that had been hitting earlier in this tournament hasn't gotten one to fall spa. Now, that's on the move. He's more of a catch and shoot is just a difference. There. "Who all of these teams, are I gotta say, first and foremost, I'm very happy that this things back at the United Center and not digging around at MSG, we're in DC or something like that. Yeah. Me too. It's it's always nice to see it at the United Center or Indianapolis. Yeah. I could safely say, I know all the big ten teams without even thinking twice. But and I have to say in most of these comments is I know all of them pretty quickly. See gave me one of the tougher pop quizzes there. I I like it though, I was like trivia like that big ten, you know, if you look at the United Center, not bad shooting backdrop at all the over twenty three and twenty one last forty four college basketball games there if you look at you know, what the United Center looks like I've been there a couple of times. It's definitely not a bad shooting backdrop, I think it's pretty normal. Nice than you. You know? Michigan state gets easier side of the bracket here with going into the good team. But they they have some serious flaws. I mean, we saw that on Sunday. I have to be on with going in money's two and a half of the play of mine on Sunday. And that's about as nerve up as I've ever been on a bed. You know? I mean had to go ticket think a little. Outside after that when went to because while I mean, I want it. But I guess that on Twitter there afterwards. I believe I probably lost two years of my life during the process, but Wisconsin is doesn't have that good guard that matches up well against a team like Michigan state. So I don't know that Michigan state has a really tough match-up anywhere there at the top of the bracket. Maryland can't win on the road. I mean, they don't want on the road all year, Nerlens is a talented team. And I think Marilyn probably have more talented does Wisconsin. But do you trust Maryland? I mean, I don't know. Do do you like anybody from the top of this bracket? Other the Michigan state. No, it's tough. And quite frankly, I don't even really like Michigan state that much there plus one seventy five or do was plus three fifteen Michigan, plus three thirty Wisconsin. Six fifty Maryland, thirteen fifty Indiana thirty three to one's really interesting. I'll explain why the Penn State fifty to one Minnesota sixty six Iowa sixty..

"Yes, true. Yeah. Every summer you get to have that. But this the one year from the summer, the democratic national convention first time in a mid western city other than Chicago in over a century. So there you have it. How about that? So that's you. It's our neighbor to the north. Yeah, we were just talking about over here. We have covered a lot of these over the years, and it's better in a smaller city than a bigger city because you because it takes over the whole city, and you can actually go the wall in areas in restaurants and things you can do they remember when it was at the United Center. In what whatever that was ninety six. There was they you. You you had to go in they cut off all of the west loop essentially in west side, and then they had pending Corrales for protesters and for Lookie loos and for press and stuff like that. And you have to watch in and walk out. And then by the time you got back downtown. The know the you you couldn't go to any of the big restaurants because then the Clinton was closing them all down, you know, for the party, if you know what I mean? Getting into Gibson's. I'm gonna tell you. It was very different. In that week in August, nineteen Ninety-six. They did put all those nice planters up and down Randolph street, though. Right. Just for the convention, Madison. Remember that we did the Madison bridge never gonna walk. He was gonna walk like from his downtown hotel. I think he might have been staying at the Hilton or something like that. Because I think it's further tradition. And then and then he was gonna walk down Madison. And then there's a little far. I'ma be honest with you. Let's take let's take a ride, and what was interesting about that is people might recall that it was like about an hour after he won the election and was sworn in again, the the the Monica Lewinsky thing hit so there was there was a little bit. But during that election it came out that one of his chief aides. Headache toe-sucking scandal. Hey, do we know. Yes. Oh, sure. It's yes. Oh, I remember that it is. Now, the guy who's the arch? What's what's your mouth? Television and radio. Oh, yes. That's right. Thicke morris. Right. Yes. Dick Morris went on to become after the toe sucking sound. Remember, he was a Clinton guy. And now, he's an arch conservative who writes these books about how awful the Democrats are. He's been because they show before because they fired him for toe-sucking. That's not allowed apparently that well when you're paying for the Tel I think that was really the issue more than anything else. It was tell was was purchased. Oh. Mean, right. A mutually consensual sort of payment might have been his wife's might have even been better. Yeah. But a for hire tell with a. Yeah. It's not good now. So good never understood that I'll be honest with you. You think that's it was too high of a price to pay. No, no. I just never understood the toe-sucking I forgive you kind of get picked remember. She was pictured on a beach with her new love after the palace little toe. Toe-sucking right. Exactly. Verandah? Overlooking a beach or something, and they were like caught the guy was the photographer. Finding a guy that was literally second-hand frigates tell. Yeah. That's weird. Thing that goes on with that lasts for hours. It's like it's a delicacy in some countries. Apparently. Yeah. I don't know. Rose. I don't really understand that. I'm surprised at crtv. Hasn't followed us into the. Hitting pictures of the toe-sucking. I was surprised that they don't have that. Maybe it's just a picture of Dick Morris. We should try to challenge. The TV to see what storylines they won't follow or just maybe an eggplant emoji or something. I don't know. Something that, you know. In behind. It is laughing at you or swearing at. You. Just like usual are fun. She puts if she's an amazing amazing. She's the director producer of this operation for television. And it's just it's not easy. It's the most thankless job. And all show business. I assure you of that. So anyway, anyway, so I don't know somehow so backed by way of Milwaukee because apparently in Milwaukee, there's a lot of toe-sucking. Yes. No. Oh, there's the democratic convention rights that may or may not involve people who like to tosa. We don't know. We don't know. But there are issue. There is don't try this at home. I just want to suggest that it may not be the most healthy practice. I dunno hygenic. It really is yet to wash the to- very thoroughly before you begin to suck on it. I mean, it's like there's like a whole thing that goes on it. Yeah. Whole protocol tour. So the concern is that they might not have enough hotels there. They've got to kind of be fine. Oh, yeah. You know, what I know Kim's gonna totally support me in this because she's like, I don't somehow wisconsinite marriage marriage. Exactly. But they, but Milwaukee is a great town. I hate to say it really is my brother-in-law lives there and a half the tell you every time we go up there. It's great. It is great lots of stuff going on. It's beautiful. It's clean. It's right on the lake tons of hotels. You got the traditional the Pfister, which is just fantastic. And then the a bunch of there's a lot of stuff going on. There's no ringing hotels. Listen, when we when we get sent out to these to cover these things, they always put us in a hotel that is fifty miles away from the actual convention. And it's it's one of those like where it's it's a name of a chain by a bigger chain. It's like. Right. Double wide bed by Marriott. Right. Make you feel like you're getting something great one of the members of our staff in fact, walked into her hotel room and found another individual there who was not someone she knew at that particular hotel. So see things things can happen things happen. So one must be very careful. Yes, let's we're going to check in with Ben bradlee. We're gonna find out what his thoughts are on the Dick Morris a scandal one thousand nine hundred and then also he's got an interesting story about Chicago. That might be surprising. Anymore? He just sent it to me. I'm not sure he wants to set it for Wednesday. I'm gonna ask him to unveil it. Now, just not if you will unveil it now, he will unveil it now. All right. He will unveil it. Now, stay stay tuned. We'll find out about that could change the way you live in Chicago forever. Interested tease. Yeah. For sure. No question about it. Let's check in now with Kim. Gordon? What's going on in the news row? More Boeing seven thirty-seven max aids are staying on the ground and good news on the inbound. Eisenhower everything has been reopened at central avenue.
