"under three dollars" Discussed on The Peter Schiff Show Podcast
"The can down the road and we've been kicking it for the last fifty years because just like nixon. No presidents want to make those decisions now of course once. We went off the gold. Standard inflation accelerated even further because instead of putting an end to those policies which staying on the gold standard would have required by leaving the gold standard those policies were accelerated and we had the stagflation of the nineteen seventies. And you know it's interesting to point out that both the secretary of the treasury and the federal reserve in hearings in one thousand nine hundred sixty eight before the us senate banking committee on the potential for going off the gold standard. Both of those guys testified that going off the gold standard would be good for the dollar. The dollar would gain value and gold would sink. They argued that gold was overvalued. And it was linked to the dollar. That was the reason it was overvalued. And if we severed the link the gold would sink. The dollar would soar when it was no longer way down by gold and inflation would be brought under control. The only person really that testified the opposite was my father who was an insurance agent who also testified and he testified correctly. That dollar backed by nothing would be worth a lot less than a dollar backed by gold. He warned that if we went off the gold. Standard inflation would soar. The price of gold would soar. And my father's testimony is the only testimony that stood the test of time and in fact one of the big problems we had in the one thousand nine hundred seventies was the arab oil embargo and a lot of people like to blame the high inflation of the nineteen seventies on opec for jacking up. The price of oil but opec didn't jack up the price of oil. We jacked down the value of the dollar that we were using to buy oil in nineteen seventy a barrel of oil costs just under three dollars. That was it by nineteen eighty at its peak. We were paying thirty nine dollars for a barrel of oil so thirteen fold increase in the price of oil in one decade. Now a lot of people think you're seeing the arabs. They really stuck into us. They jacked up the price of oil. Well that really isn't the story because what did we do. We reduced value of what we were giving opec in exchange for their oil because in one thousand nine hundred seventy. We were paying for oil with goal in eighty. We were paying for it in paper. There's a big difference. So in nineteen seventy when gold was thirty five dollars. An ounce and oil was just under three dollars a barrel..

Tesla Fighting Back in China
"Rob our here and today. We're going to be discussing tesla in china. Tesla is pushing back on some of the brake failure reports that we've talked quite a bit about we'll talk about the most recent development there. Then what kind of continued the tour around the world. We've got some news on. Gigabyte wins news in canada and the us as well and what was it out with an update on batteries. I will take a quick look at the stock tesla today giving up the gains that it had seen earlier this week finishing down two point three percent on the day to six hundred and fifty three dollars. Thirty eight cents a few dollars below the closing price last friday. The s&p and dow were up. But the nasdaq did finish down. Do tons of a percent okay. Let's start off with that news out of china just as some back story of course over the last couple of months. We've been talking about reports of brake failures. In china tesla china has obviously pushed back on that claiming that there were no brake failures. These were just user errors. Detention around that peaked during the shanghai autoshow couple months back with a woman protesting claiming failures but other people have also made similar claims since then we have seen tesla take action so they've hired more people in communications. They've asked for and actually received some apologies from media and influencers that either reported on the stories accurately or in the case of one influence are actually just made up story for more attention. Shocker but those actions do seem to be helping as best. I can tell externally while today. We've got the latest chapter in that. Saga kelvin. young on twitter is reporting that tesla china is suing one of the owners that made claims of brake failures that owner shared details of the situation and away bow post which in translation reads quote. Hello everyone i am. The owner of wenzel tesla out of control. I received tussles indictment the day before yesterday. Now i will release the previous. Fdr tests report of wenzel automotive engineering society. I hope you kind people can help me analyze it. Thank you and quote. Etr test results there that just means event data recorder test results so basically just a third party analysis of what happened during the supposed- brake failure situation lots of replies on this thread one of the first ones reads quote. Don't you understand this result. Means that number one break his okay number two you stepped on the accelerator and quote.

"Is this is a story from amazon. Nato you're in the land of amazon and which is to say america not the other one this story. We burned down down the other one. The actual amazon was destroyed. And so now we only have the idea is on to represent destruction. Yes so amazon has been there was a investigative report out of out of england that or the uk or whatever you call it. That amazon was destroying one hundred and thousand packages. A week and environmentalists are concerned that it's incredibly wasteful and bad for the climate and they say that amazon shipping packages create a lot of ways from the discarded cardboard but not if they destroy the packages shipped checkmate enviros story. So much. because it's almost like it's like a threat that you need to buy. These things by the package gets it. We would have raw the destroyer macbook. Then give it to a charity would rather burn. This is one of those stories those like that kind of will have. What did you think they would doing kind of guy. But like it's like a t shirt cost three dollars like something bad is happening like there's no amazon. You couldn't like all other online stores. If he buys something that like. Yeah we think we can probably get it to you by friday. If we rush this thing amazon is like we're already outside your house where he wants it like something. That can only be a bad reason from why that's how it's not just better at driving than the other companies. We're really really clever. Driving things that only this cheap because you need the money for like conscience salve is expensive the products. They weren't getting incinerated they're being sent to a landfill which means the steepest. Prime day discounts are at the dump. You know where look for

That was my jumping off point for that was the middle point on my hobo. My units of stink. My friends rescued a cat. And somehow it pest into their stove top and that was the end of the stove. Yeah that was the end of the stove. you're done. Yeah when when the microwave when you forget about the microwave bag that explodes in there and burns all the kernels. That smell can only be removed by taking One of my golden nugget deuces low boy cap and letting it let let nature take its course max. That's it's a sort of battle equal that goes on make one move. It's a quick move slide. It you gotta pull it and you got to tuck it up against your bali. Get going now. Don't let it hang out. Tesla Seems to Be Stripping Software Features
"Everybody rob mauer here. Welcome back to tesla daily after. Hopefully a nice long weekend for many of you. I hope everybody made it through lumbar gate yesterday without tussle daily episode. If you're not sure what. I'm talking about yet with that. Will of course be discussing that in this episode. We also have updates on tusla's move to pure vision. Some i reports on how that's going a minor postponement of the platte model s. delivery event couple product updates tesla's interest in the restaurant business and a couple other stories as well. Somehow we are already now. In june tesla stocks. Starting off the last month of q down zero point two percent pretty quiet on the day to six hundred twenty. Three dollars ninety cents. That compare to the nasdaq also down slightly one tenth of a percent. We'll start off here just quickly on the lumbar support topic. This caused quite a bit of stir this weekend as somebody unread. It took delivery of a new model y and notice that on the passenger seat. The lumbar support control had been removed. So that's the area of the seat that would support your lower back. Previously could move that upper down. Inter out and tesla has decided to remove that from the new model three and model. Why again for the passenger seat. Only driver seat still has the control so understandably pretty disappointing for a customer to have to find that someone was expressing disappointment on this on twitter. Saying they don't like the direction tesla's going raising prices of vehicles but removing features like lamar for the monterey on top of rumors of fasd increased to fourteen thousand dollars without any real added features do fasd. Unless you're a beta tester. You lana plant that saying quote moving. Lamar was removed only in front passenger seat of three slash. Obviously not there. In rear seats log showed almost no usage not worth cost slash mass for everyone when almost never used prices increasing due to major supply chain price pressure industry-wide raw materials especially and
AAA Sees a Huge Jump in Travel Over Memorial Day Weekend
"Triple a predicts a huge jump in travel plans compared to last year over the Memorial Day weekend travel over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend will certainly be better than last year we did a lot of it is due to the codex gene are more people getting vaccinated and just overall consumer confidence triple a spokesman Andrew gross who says some thirty seven million people have plans to travel at least fifty miles from home that's up by sixty percent over last year now which still significantly less then the folks to travel pre pandemic but still it yeah it does okay and it just shows that a lot of people think that there's light at the end of this pandemic tunnel as for gas prices triple a says those will be about three dollars per gallon I'm surely antler
Tesla’s Demand Is Through the Roof
"That's the stock. After popping up in the pre market from the story this morning did fade throughout the day. Finishing down one point one percent to six hundred and sixty three dollars fifty four cents that compared to the nasdaq which recovered to end the day. Finishing up four tenths of a percent as getting into the electric story. This was published about three hours before market open today. Article headline reads tesla's demand is through the roof already. Sold out this quarter. Electric rates quote tesla's currently seeing exponentially strong demand for its vehicles as it is already sold out for the quarter according to sources familiar with the matter and quote expanding on that they also right that quote sources familiar with the matter told electric that tessa communicated to employees that production capacity for the second quarter is already sold out with still almost two months left in the quarter and quote. This would follow. Elon musk's comment on the qn earnings call at the beginning of last week. Where he said demand is the best they've ever seen now. It's not really unusual for tesla to be quote unquote sold out for a quarter. I would say happens. Most quarters in fact but generally that happens in waves in accordance with how tesla decides to you. Prioritize shipments of vehicle for example were five weeks into the quarter. At this point in time it would be pretty typical for maybe international deliveries to be sold out as tessa would be prioritizing and be production of for overseas markets so they have time to ship it deliver it within the same quarter then a few weeks after that we might predominantly see the east coast being sold out and tesla just prioritizing production for delivery in california where that surround time is the fastest selling out for an individual quarter. Wouldn't be anything new but to do it at this point in the quarter again just five weeks in would seem to be. I don't know probably the earliest. We've seen that happen in the last couple of years. Oftentimes and past quarters. We've also seen tesla offer a small quarter and incentive to make sure that people either take delivery when they're scheduled or as a way of balancing demand in a specific location because tussle authorship vehicles before they actually have orders in anticipation of demand in that location. But of course you can never forecast those things perfectly so some of those quarter and incentives can help bounce those out notably. I didn't see any indication of doing anything like that in key. If you want to go into it we can get to blow up some some sand of mine. that was cool but russian So yes. I think there's two things we can get into the the two big four as a natural gas in three and that was the word notre gross did not do so will mostly weather though. Yeah and actually over the course of if you look on average with you'll get henry hub. We've sort of been averaging three bucks before this year. Were at two bucks this year. And so you think about what's going on with natural gas. Well it is great. It looks a little greener. People are more comfortable with the pricing. They can hedge at three dollars and they can a lot of folks who are seeing the long-term directory of gas at at over to fifty and that's a considerable differentiating piece that we had a couple of years ago saying hey we could get down into the know. The twenty one outlook for gases pretty solid on declining associated gas production and alan g is going great guns right now Lemming we basically maxed out of liquefaction ellis and that's and that's a huge component of that so also so the other piece of this goes into those too big for it was liberty oilfield services saying that we're going to the hanes school and then yoji calling out this this dorado play which is really part of their eagle play and so you have to say why these two big companies saying hey were in love with natural gas when g made a concerted effort to pivot hard and fast against natural gas and left sort of everybody else in the dust and now they're saying hey we go back and the reason is the break evens are so low so to fifty. Mcs starts looking. Pretty damn good when you're when you can break even under a buck fifty and i think it was a gentle had said to a at a conference recently The india she said this week. We're basically they can if you can produce in the us for buck fifty and we can and you can get it to the coast and export for under three dollars around three dollars. And then you can get a rod for five bucks include action. You can start seeing where this makes sense. I think the transportation side is a little confusing but this the break evens in the us and that blue drive costs down. And i think if you're just now seeing if you're just now saying liberal field services just now getting to the hansel and poke the wells that produced right now. "A analyst the the sax sax welcome back to Buck Sexton show it's starting to happen here again in New York City I remember seeing a lot more when I was a kid people who in our subway system which is very effective at getting you places but charmless it's not nice you have been in New York I can tell you it's and you see some stuff for subway you see some things happen and that's just always been the way you get other city if you go to the DC subway system it's like a it's like a Disney park amusement ride a comparison so clean and everything seems I know they've had problems with track fires but it seems like everything is much much nicer in the DC subway system which serves a much smaller number of people but here in New York we kinda like a gritty subway guesses where we need to go for under three dollars you can travel all the way from way up in the Bronx all the way out to to far Rockaway in queens which I presume are how many miles of that's a long way right on I'm gonna probably take you over an hour on the subway but I mean our our half hour and a half written if you need to cross the city in that little bit of time yeah what I'm saying it's a get you far if you force this always repressive there's a problem when I I've been seeing this more recently factor just saw it right here at our subway stop near where we do this show we see people now who just they walk up to the turnstiles they just hop right over it's not not paying the fare anymore show all right well let's let's if we if we can take a look at what this is leading to what's going on here and why PVD is getting sisters cameras on the subways Tuesday see this I'm like two peas getting reports of people's health fare evasion and they will make arrests based on this because some of us like me here in New York City remember that you have the small crimes that would happen and nobody would do anything about them this is broken windows theory you probably heard of this broken windows theory where one of when it was broken in a building it's more likely that if it's left that way other windows will be broke and then all of a sudden the whole place is burnt out in a slum and bad things happen in New York that was the feeling on the streets when I was growing up here and it was almost three thousand murders a year in nineteen ninety three I think was twenty seven or twenty eight hundred and now we're down to three under three hundred workers so you for nine ninety percent drop in homicides which is a big deal nine even drop in homicides but you had graffiti everywhere graffiti was a scourge initiatives graffiti all over the place and there were people constantly doing petty crimes fare evasion was a major one and what they found was that by enforcing laws not only where you helping quality of life in these areas provide forcing smaller laws you came into contact with people who are more likely to be wanted for other bigger issues this is just the way it was when I was in the NYPD for in the intelligence division as a civilian counterterrorism analyst for eighteen months so I had some familiarity with how all this stuff worked and the guys the old sergeants of the tech is been on the job a long time and we're here back in the nineties doing stuff said you know the guy who just you know sometimes you grab a guy for fare evasion and turns out these wanted on attempted murder charge his biographical data on the system so now you have people that are increasingly doing this fare evasion thing I've I've seen I've seen people just walk right past me hop over and they don't pay and they go on so they're stealing you know two dollars and seventy five cents for the city look it's not a horrible felony I'm not pretending like people that do they should be locked up forever anything I mean I've almost once or twice absent mindedly like walk through the gate the wrong way when a gate will be opened in the subways will it mean things can happen but these people are doing this intentionally is bad so what the NYPD is done is they've set up more cops in places where this fair vision having to try to make arrests well guess what there is a disrespect for police that is growing particulier near city but it's in a lot of urban centers across the country disrespect for police and this gotcha game trying to get cops on video who are being rough with suspects I don't mean abusing them I just mean having to you know watching the cop wrestle someone to the ground and put cuffs on him is a violent thing and if you make the police do that people get bumps bruises things happen it's not nice which is why when an officer says you are under arrest the proper response is to put your hands behind your back as instructed deal with it in court the proper response is not now I'm not get arrested and this reminds me of all Eric garner situation Eric garner's families been paid millions of dollars because he was killed during a routine arrest for a very minor issue of selling cigarettes I understand it's a minor issue but it's still one of its still on offense you can be arrested for and they ran he was he just because of that the real problem the initiating event was a very large man saying that he wasn't get arrested today I you know once that once the cops they are under arrest you say no I'm not now you are challenging their authority and force is coming because behind every police decision ran out behind every police arrest is the threat of force the same perforce by the way that exists when people say that they want to raise your taxes and you say what you know I don't want to pay them keep in mind they will send men with guns to your home to arrest you if you don't pay your taxes so there's a threat of force behind all of these things showing the Eric garner case you ready at a heart condition he grabbed him around the neck I fell down when a cardiac arrest died and this was used as terrible police abuse I think it was a very unfortunate situation but you're not to say I'm not get arrested today that hasn't changed and there are people that are being grabbed by these police these are my PT units for fare evasion and they're just trying to escape their they don't wanna get arrested for this and they're saying they're not gonna get arrested and then you have audio we can play for you hear of people protest in the NYPD in response to this just matters play play click to place the systematic racism colonial.
