"And we were all really just we were so happy we were able to get way in that experience. And it was just fun. When a guy, whether you work for him or you know him or not, do you see a guy who's put into the sport as much as he's put in from every angle from the rates inside from the breeding side. He just done so much. So it was great to see him be rewarded and be able to just really, really enjoy it. I will tell you of kind of a funny story. One of the even after she was retired, he was really pretty well able to continue to enjoy her because he had Rick Porter who, of course, owned songbird and had an epic race to finish beholder's career. And the British got distaste. And Wayne shortly after that was in the process of remodeling a home here at Spencer, which he eventually moved into and the downstairs bathroom is done in a songbird beholder motifs of two of the walls. There's a giant photo of the finish beholder winning by a nose. And when you'd open the door, there would be there would be a recording of the race that would come on and songbird and beholders halters or hanging in there and shadow boxes and so on. And when Rick came to visit Wayne could not wait to show him his bathroom. And Rick, I'm not sure what he thought going in there, but I'm pretty sure Rick still is convinced that songbird pulled that one out, but. It was something that he just, he just, it got so much enjoyment from. Did you say that when you open the bathroom door, a replay of the race would start playing? You would actually open the door and turn on the light, and there was a little picture frame. And as soon as soon as that light switch went on, the call of the race would start as they were loading them, loading them into the gate. So gave you something to do while you were in there. That's the greatest bathroom of all time. Oh, absolutely, especially if you're a beholder fan. Yeah, right, right. Yeah, maybe not so much for Rick Porter. But certainly for all the beholder fans out there, and I can tell you, there are plenty of beholder fans even to this day, Ned, I threw out a poll question with the azeri stakes at Oakland and the beholder mile at Santa Anita today. If the two of those horses were in the same race, azeri and beholder, which Hall of Famer, are you gonna go with an 81% of HR and nation is on beholder right now, which to me is shocking because their resumes are so incredibly similar. I thought that voting would be closer, but beholder has her lesions of fans. Well, I think 81% of your fans are extremely intelligent. That's one of the great things about our sport. I think in any sport, you get to, you know, it's an argument you can never settle, right? You can compare horses or teams, or individuals from different eras. And talk about talk about who would win and that's kind of the fun part is there's really there is no right answer and those are fun debates to have. Well, we know post 68 would always beat south Berkshire. So there's no debate there. Little inside joke going back to the days when we played baseball to get. Well, almost together. You were a couple of years ahead of me. And we have your kind in saying a couple of years. I think with more than a couple of years ahead of you, but yeah, we definitely definitely walk some of the same baseball fields in western Massachusetts. Yeah, we certainly did. What is beholder up to right now? So beholder has been bred back to Jackie's warrior who's the first year horse for us and obviously fans are remember him, but really sort of the best sprinter arguably the best sprinter in the country over a couple of years. He always seemed to unlikely hold our breeders cup was not always his day, but just remarkable horse remarkable sprinter. You know, so far, we haven't had the success with her as a brood mirror that we would like. She was bred to uncle Moe and curly and her first couple of years. Have not gotten certainly nothing approaching what beholder was. We've got a war front Philly now that is one in her, I believe it's her third start on the turf and there's really the light seems to have really gone on since she won her race. Her last start. So we're looking for more from her. She unfortunately, this was this was the first year she did not have a fall. She was and there was she picked a bad year to decide not to have a full because she was bred to gun runner. And just just did not catch that year. But she's been she's really been very, very good reproductively. And she's got a she's got a two year old fairly by our bolt doro. And I know that that's going to end up being a good race horse because mister Hughes insisted that we do that mating. So. That Philly is down in Ocala with raul Reyes and he feels like that she may be the most athletic most talented of the group. So far. So we'll look for good things from her, but so far they've all stayed right here in the racing stable and will work for the home team. So sometimes it takes some mayors a couple of years to get things figured out and for us breeders to figure out what works best with them. So that was kind of the approach with Jackie's warrior was we had tried a couple of sort of, I would say, sort of classic type size. And in uncle mo and kerlin and not had those are wonderful sires, they make a lot of sense on paper with beholder. But we took the approach of trying to put a little bit more speed into her and I always think of her as a very, very fast failure. Of course, she also wanted a mile and a quarter. I think she's a feely who was so talented. She could have been she could have been a champion sprinter. And again, not many horses that have run a sub two minute mile and a quarter. Over the years. So but we sort of went a different route and tried to inject a little bit more speed into her with Jackie's warrior this year. So we will eagerly await the results there and keep our fingers crossed. Well, Ned toffee general manager, it has been thrift. I know so many of our listeners are jealous that you get to show up to work every day and you get to look at beholder anytime you want. I know that she must have plenty of visitors that come to see her and as I mentioned, she still has plenty of fans out there. So man, I appreciate the visit. Thanks for looking back on her career and thanks for the update on what's happening with her right now. Absolutely. Anytime my good to talk to you. All right buddy, Ned toffee here on the horse racing radio network. When I come back, it is time for calling all three year olds with Bobby Newman, and then I'll get you ready for

"Well, our two begins as I promised you with the Hall of Famer, John Velasquez, who last Saturday did something he has done nearly 6500 times in his Hall of Fame career. He returned to the winner circle to have his picture taken after winning another race. It just seems routine for him now, and he is with me here on the horse racing radio network. Johnny really appreciate it, my friend. Thanks for the visit. Michael, thank you. Yeah, congrats on that big win in the southwest. I know there have been bigger wins in your career, but this was, man, this was an impressive visually impressive win by Arabian night last weekend. Yeah, he lost, man, and he was so impressive just like the first time he run keyman and obviously he's been training right after that and took basically a couple of months off and come back and do us as impressive like as he did the other day. So Brian, I used to have an exciting horse to look forward to. Breaks his maiden by more than 7 lengths, wins by nearly 6 lengths in the southwest against what looked to be a quality field made it look Gordon made them look ordinary. Which race was more impressive to you, Johnny. I definitely think the rights to the other day was very impressive. More so than the made in just because going to turn with horses were running one already. When you step up like that and win as if you see you do, that's definitely very impressive. Walk me through the race. What was the trip like for you? Well, today are true, I was thinking that I was going to be laying second because there was a horse right next you need to come to a sprinting and he went like 21 45 one three quarters and I did told me that it was going to send the horse and I said, listen, you're going to have to be fast enough to be in front of me, but if you're not there, sure, I'm going to take you out of there. And sure enough, I mean, my heart's broken really good and the other kid was trying to send the horse and I was going to end up being low faster than EMM. We'll go to the first and I'll make sure that I took him out of there so that way we don't get a hit and hit going to the backstretch. But once he got to the first John he realized pretty good, you know, like in the first quarter, a little faster there. I wanted to be for much of we got to the back stretch, man. He said, I was really nice. And as soon as I could come and close to him, he got aggressive. Done this stretch. I went away and I thought he was going to open up me, which he did. But when he saw the tie tracks from the gate, he started slowing down and kind of drifting out. And before I before they pulled in, I didn't want to stand him. I didn't want to do anything, but then I had to do it to get his attention. And when he passed that, the tire tracks going to see bold, he kind of took off again, so a great feeling to when you ask us to do something and they respond and it really did and got about very good. Yeah, this is only a second career start. So he's still learning how much Johnny do you have to be a teacher when you're aboard these young horses, even in these big races? Absolutely. This is what you do. And this is what the racers do for them as well. And try to teach them the best you can and hopefully they get it, you know. And he just really smart horror stuff. So, I mean, all you have to do is make sure that you get the attention and they do. Some of them need a little more than that, but this one seems to get it right away. Yeah, the race was what a mile and a 16th of course on the first Saturday may he'll have to handle a mile and a quarter if he gets to that point. Does he give you the sense that the extra distance won't be an issue? Yeah, I don't think so. Absolutely not. He got ups out and everything he seems to handle the two turns and the distance and that obviously the he'll get him ready for that. Well, you know, he's trained by Bob Baffert. And I think because of that, people immediately started saying, oh my goodness, we're looking at the next American pharaoh after he crossed the finish line in one so impressively, what do you think? The next American pharaoh or do we need to pump the brakes a little bit here? Yeah, well, that's hard to compare one to the other one. When these horses only run two times. So obviously that's the dream to get another American sorrow. Obviously the way he was in American power was really impressive for every time he run. And it's hard to compare those kind of horses but definitely towards his very talented and we wish to be some sort of like American pharaoh that basically it's a lot of hope. Let's put that way. It definitely. He's a son of champion uncle Moe, who, of course, you know very well. You wrote uncle mo. And I would never ask you to compare those two because I don't think that's fair either. But are there any similarities with a young uncle mo and a young Arabian night that you're feeling underneath you? This is really funny because I said when he broke and it's made and I came back and reminded me I'm so tired and like the day after and I was like, I think you see the horse and remind me so much of the way he ran and everything like that. So he did remind me when he broke his maiden. And he definitely has the quality and the mind they all go out. So it's just about to stay healthy and hopefully continue going forward and improving, you know? Visiting with Hall of Fame jockey John Velasquez

"Days, 9 hours, 29 minutes, and 19 seconds away from the run for the roses, may 6th, the Churchill downs in Arabian night, two for two with that impressive win, Vic stauffer had the call of the Southwest stakes at Oak Lawn last weekend. He is hoping to be. At Churchill downs in 91 days, competing in that run for the roses. And that would be just fine with Michael Norris and the team at coolmore and Ashford stud in Versailles. Michael heads up nomination sales, of course, Arabian night is a son of their stallion uncle Moe and uncle mo has been fantastic as a stallion. And this is just the latest star on the horizon for him. Michael is with me now. Michael, good morning, my friend. Good morning, Mike. Thanks for having me. Yeah, really excited to talk about the cool more stallions. And let's just start with Arabian night. Man, what a performance, huh? Yeah, look, he's amazing. He's done two for two, it's about back early around the 96 fire in the southwest and at this point he looks like the one speed for sure and just on the moon so last year using golden Powell modes on the go it reflects in the sales ring. We're averaging $350,000 almost yearlings 300,000 to $300,000 leverages. So he really is becoming a sire that, even at the 150,000 stud seat, he's looking like one of the best value sales in the country. Yeah, I would say that's 100% correct. He continues to just year in and year out, get these top runners in big horses and it's kind of neat when you see him year in and year out on the Triple Crown trail and the road to The Kentucky Derby because let's face it, The Kentucky Derby is the race, whether it's in the United States or Canada or South America or around the world, you ask people what race they are familiar with, they might not know any other race in thoroughbred racing, but they know The Kentucky Derby. So when you have a horse year in and year out by one of your stallions on the Derby trail, it just, I mean, it does so much for that stallion, doesn't it, Michael? Absolutely. You know, we're very lucky to have him. You know, he's done an awful lot for us. And like you said, that first Saturday in May, everyone aims towards that. So to have a horse like Arabian night this year, it really is special for us standing on kamo and there's a lot of good horses this year from mo. Every year, he produces great resources on the turf on the dirt, you know, we have we have another horse with Wesley awards called go on mo, he won his debut on the turf last week, great style Wesley's very excited and there's a lot of similarities between him and golden power. He'll be looking for steak options in his next stars. And just the horse that keeps on giving. I mean, obviously his resume speaks for itself. But in your position, Michael with nomination sales when you have a horse like Arabian night that just continues to show his brilliance. Does it does it automatically make the phone start ringing over there at Ashford and people inquiring about getting a merit to uncle mo is it instant like that or is it just another feather in his cap type of thing? Well, you know, the most right now I believe is on the brink of something special. He has Arabian mice, but he's also the broodmare sir of the leconte winner instant coffee. So, you know, he has always got a seller book of mayors. It's always the right people breeding to him. There's some there's some household name there that come to him every single year and he's constantly producing the goods because so a certain extent you can get all the best opportunities, but you still have to do it. So he's a horse that has Gus. He started 35,000 and he worked his way up to this. And his yearly made up to $1.5 million last year. And the two year old obviously two year olds were topped by Arabian items, making $2.3 million. And people come back to us. They come back to us and they want to breach on to now. There are 18 stallions standing at cool war America, Ashford stud in for sales. We could spend a whole show, Michael, a full three hour show talking about all 18. We won't have time to do that in this segment. So I want to focus on a couple of others. Money's in particular, the fastest son of champion spikes town. He's one of the fastest sons of gone west. He has another horse that flashed so much brilliance on the racetrack. Tell me a little bit more about money. Good morning. My name is a fantastic study and he's finally is that that $100,000 study now and we're also lucky to have his son Jack Christopher retiring this year and you know he's done it the hard way and he finally recently rewards and he, for example, even in the sales during last year, 40,000 subsea in 2021, his yearnings averaged a 175,000. So he's a horse that people are really excited about. We're really excited about. Is that a great start to the year as well? He's had a few stakes winners. A couple of really nice maiden special winners. And he also has a daughter on the top ten oaks trail. Money's goals, you know, she's two for two. And she looks like she'll be there

"But also, you know, Todd, you know, he leads the decision making things up to the owners too. You know, he can make his recommendation on what we can do, but he also gives us options and I kind of have carte blanche on representing them and coming up with what the best game plan would be for these sources and that's part of my role too. Also representation at the sales buying and settling courses for them. When did you first start working with Robert and luana? I met them during my time when I was at Taylor made sales and obviously they're a big selling operation. But I knew that they had a love for racing and I approached them with an idea that to go out and kind of up their game a little bit. Because I knew they loved racing and I knew they loved racing at a high level. So I went to them probably I'd say it was 5 or 6 years ago and just proposed an idea to them and they believed in me and what I had to offer and they got behind me and supported me and we haven't looked back since. When you go to the sale and you start looking at horses that they may be interested in purchasing are there certain types of horses that fit their program better than others? Yeah, I mean they love to run but they want to be like everybody else in the business and have a horse that runs in The Kentucky Derby. And when The Kentucky Derby. But realistically, their goal is to get two turn classic type forces or Phillies. They live in Springfield, Missouri, their home racetrack is Oklahoma park. We've been lucky enough with a couple of horses over the last couple of years, Magna moon being one of them to win some marquee races at Oklahoma park. And they love that. And Todd's willing to ship there. He likes shipping in and running and especially making his owners happy in that sense. But they look for those types of horses. I mean, this horse, in particular, colonel Liam, look, we didn't buy him thinking that he was going to be a turf horse. I mean, he does have a turf pedigree on the bottom side of his on the damn side. But physically, when you look at him, he looks like a dirt horse. And that's what led us to buying them. And he ended up just taking to the turf and excelling and being a top level turf force. You mentioned the fact that they would love to win The Kentucky Derby. I think that's true for any owner that gets into the sport. On any level, that's always the ultimate goal, the Pinnacle, if you will. Are there any two year olds in the barn right now that you say, maybe maybe this might be the horse? Well, you know, in this game, I always feel like I do have some bit of superstition about this game. You know, you never talk about it before it happens type of thing because but there's a worst right now that we paid a lot of money for them last summer, it's Saratoga. His name is sergeant pepper. He's an uncle Moe out of mayor named Dane Dorothy. That we actually own the half sister and her name was spices nice who ended up being a graded stakes winner for them. And he's training very well right now turning forwardly doing all the right things. He's probably going to make a start. I'd say sometime in the middle of January. So he's a two year old coming three year old. But he would be kind of if you're going to try to hold the crystal ball or plane for the future. We're hoping that he's that type of horse. Do you help in the naming of the horses too, Jacob? I do not. I do not have this solely that up to misses Lowe. She comes up with all the names and she's very, very good at it, I think. She comes up with names that people will remember. And there's a little bit of like a marketing kind of branding behind it. And she's very good at that. What's the story of sergeant pepper? I think it has something to do with The Beatles, I believe. And I think it just, I'm not a 100% sure, but I think it has something to do with that. But you would have to you would have to ask her. All right. Talking with Jacob west, the racing manager for the Lowe's Robert and luana lo, the owners of colonel Liam and many other top stars, including sergeant pepper, maybe a horse you'll see on the road to The Kentucky Derby here in 2023. You mentioned dame Dorothy. Wasn't that Bobby Flay's Philly? It was. It was, yeah, so Bobby Brett, the Philly, the first fall out of the mayor was spices nice, feral and Philly that we purchased at the sales. And then I think this would be her third or fourth full is sergeant pepper. And Todd trained during Dorothy, obviously trained uncle mo. So it was pretty easy to connect the dots there and go after him having bought the sister, Todd trained the mother, taught during the father. There was some relatable things there for us to make a big run at that horse. You had mentioned Arkansas Derby winner Magnum moon. Were you also involved? I'm sure you were with sweet Melania when she was running and winning all those greatest stakes? Yes, yes. She was from the first crop of American pharaoh and we had gone to the salesman. I wouldn't say that we were specifically looking for an American pharaoh, but mister Lowe had told me that look, let's try to find a nice well bred silly by American pharaoh and she happened to be the one. And I have to give a lot of credit to him on that one because he actually came to the sale that year with me. And once I kind of presented him with the short list and we were going around the barn looking at it, he was very excited about her and that's the other thing about the lows and why they're such great owners. I mean, mister Lowe is an incredible businessman. He's got a lot on his plate, but he does consider himself a horse and then he's got an eye for it and there's things that he can implement and bring to the table when selecting the horses that I don't think a lot of other owners can. And then misses Lowe is an absolutely incredible handicapper. I mean, I've always jokingly said, I would put her up against any of the top notch handicappers that are out there. I always tell her she should enter into some of these handicapping contests and show these guys what's up.

"And actually was on the dirt at aqueduct and moved to the turf when it moved to Belmont and stayed on the turf for about 25 years was moved back over to the main track back in 2009 and has stayed on the main track and of course we'll be running aqueduct this year as Belmont not having live racing during the fall meet because of construction going on around the property. Life is good, one the race last year, sharp as tech of 2017. We heard in the top of the show uncle Moe getting the job done in 2011. That ended up being the final win in the illustrious career of uncle mo he retired with just 5 wins from 8 career starts, didn't run very well in the breeders cup classic after his win in the Kelso and never ran again and as good of a racehorse as uncle mo was. I don't think we'd be selling him short by saying he's even better as a stallion than he was on the track. So better off the track or at least as good off the track as he was on the track and of course he did win the breeders cup juvenile at Churchill downs back in 2010. Welcome back to betting with Bobby presented by Caesar's race book. Bobby Newman here four to 6 p.m. Eastern Time every Friday, except next Friday. Next Friday, we're going to have a special schedule because we're covering the live action from the breeders cup at keenland. Betting with Bobby will air just before our breeders cup coverage, the betting with Bobby show presented by Caesar's race book will be Friday next week from 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock Eastern Time and then immediately following betting with Bobby. We'll have our live coverage of the breeders cup from three to 6 and then Dave Friedman and I come back in our normal spot 6 to 7 p.m. for the weekend stakes preview presented by nyra bets. All right, let's get out to the track for some live racing action. First live race is a good one. $200,000 Myrtle would. It Keenan, race number 7 on their card. 6 furlongs on the fast main track and a good field of ten going to post here, although the public is zeroing in on number 6 key of life for Brad Cox and florent Giroud. By the way, speaking of Brad Cox, he will be one of our guests that Jude felt in myself hosting or co hosting I should say those breeders cup countdown shows presented by hill and L at alapa Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, mornings next week from 8 to 10 a.m. Eastern Time. You can listen on SiriusXM or on our website horse racing radio net Brad Cox has already said yes, he is happy to join us in he's always an open book when it comes to talking about his horses. I'm amazed when it comes to Brad Cox or somebody like Steve asthma and these guys who seemingly have a hundred to a 150 horses in training and somehow know exactly everything about all of them. I'm also amazed that they ever can sleep these guys. It would seem to me that their phone would be buzzing. Literally every 8 seconds. But somehow these guys do it and they look fresh and ready to go every day and they obviously have very, very good teams working with and for them and they do a good job every day year in and year out. All right, so this upcoming race at keelan, the Myrtle would. Key of life is your heavy favorite at two to 5. Heal life very impressive, getting a maiden win in her second career start. It was a Churchill downs this past August. She followed it up by a resounding allowance win as a four to 5 favorite on this track at keenland earlier this month. So just in fact, exactly three weeks ago today, speed figure wise her last race certainly points her out. I am not a gigantic fan of betting Phillies, two year olds, three year olds, especially coming off what seems like far and away their best effort. It's not that they can't win, it just seems to me that a tremendous amount of time, their subsequent start is a little bit of a regression from their previous start. Now, you can look at this race and say, well, even if she goes backwards a little bit, she may win this race. And I completely buy that. Problem is, do you want two to 5? I'm key of life. And my answer to that is no. I don't want two to 5. Her last race is very, very good. But all of these Phillies have good form coming into this race. Most of the field are coming off big efforts last time out. I got to call number 11 somebody's problem winning a small stake at Prairie Meadows, the perimeter was debutante in her most recent start. She's drawn well on the outside and gets Tyler gaff Leone for the first time. I don't think she's unreasonable at 5 to one, loading quickly for the Myrtle wood. Let's send it out to Kurt Becker for the rest of the load and the call co featured myrtlewood stakes, race 7 on the card at keenland. They are at the post. They're off in the Myrtle wood stakes. There goes key of life out for the lead, some bodies problem comes out with her to contest the early pace. Key of life has the advantage though by a half length. Somebody's problem goes second, break of two lengths. Lady radler, third down toward the inside flaman, backs away into the fourth position between horses two minute drill is in 5th toward the far outside. Satin doll 6 toward the rail running 6 legs off the lead, baby got backspin, is in 7th, the break of 5 more lakes to willow bend in 8th and nearly 5 more back of that one take charge Brianna and time for champagne side by side at the back 22 point three four seconds for the opening quarter, key of life leads it. Somebody's problem, a length away and second gap of 5 lengths back to lady radler in third, two minute drill is fourth baby got backspin 5th as 8 legs off the lead they turned for home. Somebody's problem tried to come after key of life who still has the lead, though, had key of life leaves it by a length and a half. Now by two, two and a half, three lengths good. At the 8th pole. Lady rattler down toward the inside tries to move up and challenge for second, baby got back spend, runs from the outside along with satin doll, but well behind key of life. And key of life has the Myrtle wood steaks wrapped up for jockey flour on Giroux, key of life, impressive here this afternoon in victory, lady radler second, close to the third. One minute, 11.09 seconds. Public was all over this one. Number 6 key of life running off and hiding for trainer Brad Cox jockey Florence Giroud, third winner row for in a row for key of life. She gets the job done at three to 5 long shot rate lady rattler completing the exact big price 30 to one ended up tight for third. We'll get you those prices once they go official but no doubt about the winner key of life who gets the job done for flour on Giroud, Laurent Giroud was in the news recently as despite the fact that he's won a Kentucky Derby, albeit via disqualification in the last few years and written several breeders Cup winners and has made millions and millions of dollars in fact his horses have. He parted ways or is parting ways with longtime agent Doug bredar, I believe, right after the breeders cup. So I think they're together now through the breeders cup draw on Monday and then they are going their different Florence Giroux has hired a different agent. I don't know what Doug radar is doing if he's found somebody or is taking a little bit of a break. It seemed like kind of a strange thing. Usually when jockeys and agents part ways, it's because the jockey thinks that they could be getting better business somewhere else. Obviously there could be a personal tiff somewhere in there. These guys seem to win a lot of races together. It seems very strange that they would not be able to continue this working relationship, but we will see what happens and we certainly wish the best for both of them, nice guys. By the way, 6 one three 7, the unofficial order of finish in the Myrtle would race 7 over at keelan.

"Join America's best racing for immersive second screen live coverage of this weekend's major horse race. Chat live with host Dan tourment, Don lupo and JD Fox, along with an array of handicappers racing personalities and other surprise guests head over to America's best racing on YouTube at 4 p.m. eastern. Let us know who you're picking to win the queen's plate. By the way, James, nobody hit the pick 6 today at Saratoga. They just had a $54 horse win the finale. So there's going to be a carry over tomorrow in excess of $167,000 in the pick 6. I know there are folks out there that are a regular pick 6 players, some people who are part time picks 6 players. This would be a time where a lot of people will get involved $167,000 carried over into tomorrow's pick 6 at Saratoga races 5 through ten. James speaking of Saratoga saw a couple of very impressive performances this past Saturday at the spa. We saw Damon's mound, very impressive in the Saratoga special. We saw cossa creed very impressive winning the grade one four star Dave. Start with Damon's mount. This is a horse who blitzed maidens in his lone start, despite that there were a lot of people that did not think very much of him against Gulfport this past weekend in the Saratoga special. He got a good trip, Gulfport did not have the greatest of trips, and in the end, Damon's mound not only won, but won by a lot. Yes, and he was a super impressive. I mean, I just think he's super talented, you know, he's really flattering his freshman sire gervin who stands one Haskell, won the least in a Derby. He stands down in Florida and, you know, he's first crop of runners. He's got both Damon's mound and devious dame, a nice two year old Philly steaks winner. But the thing with Damon's mound to me is that he's just, he's got this freakish quality. I think with Gulfport, he's uncle Moe, he's got more stamina on it, he's more regally bread. I think Bobby, for longer distances, they're aiming him for races down the road at longer distances. Damon's mound is ready to go right now. And I thought he was super duper impressive. I thought that, you know, if you go watch his maiden win on the Stephen foster undercard, that was a pretty tough maiden ring. So we're in third, came back and looked confidence game, looked really good winning on Saturday at Churchill. He missed a break. And then he rushed up like a freaking quarter horse and just kept on going. And then even, you know, I thought in the Saratoga special, he didn't get off like real cleanly. He was like last away. I mean, he didn't break badly, but he was last away. And then, you know, he didn't switch leads cleanly. I thought, you know, he's a little bit erratic and upper stretch. He's so learning. So I think that's a really encouraging sign for Michelle lovell who, you know, there was a piece in the Thermo daily news that talked about Damon's mound. They took a lot of offers for him, his owners. They got like one mayor at that farm in Florida and they bred him and she's got no pedigree and they bred them to gervin and they're racing them and they're keeping him with their turning down offers so far keeping him with Michelle lovell keeping games up and I think he has a bright future, whether he can stretch out the I think he's very talented and can continue to win stakes. Whether he can stretch out as hey like Kentucky Derby get tender remains to be seen. But I'm not too down on Gulfport running second because I just think he sort of ran into a buzz saw Bobby. While we are going to see Damon's mound apparently stretch out in his next start, he pointed to the grade one breeders futurity at keeneland, which is a mile and a 16th, the same track and the same distance as this year's breeders cup juvenile Michelle lovell saying that no reason not to head to keelan for the breeders futurity just makes all the sense with the breeders cup being at keenland just a few weeks later. A little bit later in that Saturday card, we saw cossa creed run by some of the favorites and win the grade one four star Dave running by a really good Philly in regal glory who was the one to two favorite running by and up and comer for Chad Brown in mason, who looked like he was sitting a pretty good trip and just flattened out down the lane Casa creede covering the mile in one 34 and one. They have a decision to make here, James, because consecrate not only is proven going a mile, he's a really good turf sprinter too, if you had Casa creede, which breeders Cup race would you be pointing to? I wouldn't even give it a much thought, Bobby. It would be 100% the mile, 'cause you're right, he's won at 6 furlongs, some bigger, you know, the diaper. But to me, the 5 and a half for a long distance, a key that's going to be too sharp form. And it won't be the most effective distance. And granted, you know, some of his one turn races and race big races in years past have come at one turn distance is a Belmont, but he had won a two turned state Bobby since 2019 and he did it on Saturday. And I just think he's never been better for Belmont. So while cast a creed has been unplaced, not fared well in the last two breeders cup miles.

"Special grade two event is slated for race number four 6 and a half furlongs. They only drew a field of 5 and you can be sure golf port is going to be a heavy favorite. We'd love to hear from you today on golf port and anything else on your mind. 8 8 8 9 6 6 four 7 7 6 8 8 8 9 6 6 hr is golf port the two year old that you're most looking forward to running coming up here James or is there someone else you've got your eye on? Gulfport's going to be is going to be the favored Dave, but there's another horse in that race that's going to take some serious money. And I think it's a really enticing appealing matchup. I think it could be a dynamite race. And that's number two, Damon's mound. On that July 2nd, Stephen foster weekend card at Churchill downs. That 6 for a long maiden race. That race has been an extremely productive maiden's produced a bunch of like graded stakes winners in the past and that was a pretty salty 11 horse field in her for that. And to say that this daemon's mound was spectacular it would be an understatement. He missed the break. He rushed up and accelerated past the field into the turn. And it was just a matter of Gabe size holding on. He took him under wraps late. It was a great, great win that made and win was. And granted, you know, gulf board has done it twice and running one O 9 in the bass for man or two days later was another great performance. But this Damon's mound has something going for him. Especially at this sprint assistive 6 and a half furlong Saturday. So I do think it's going to be a dynamite matchup between two extremely exciting two year olds right now. It's so fun this time of year to see these horses debut. Damon's mound is not a horse that was bred for hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, son of gurvin out of a stroll damn but boy unbelievably impressive in that first race. Golf port obviously with the uncle Moe genealogy in a horse that was a big favorite, each of his first two races should be a really good one at Saratoga. When you evaluate two year old racist James, what are the things you're looking at? Well, I mean, are you talking about, I mean, a lot of times in these two year races, this is a stake. I mean, these horses have an experience. So I'm looking horses with experience. I'm looking a little bit at how fast they ran. And also taking into account or trying to competition, you know, when they come back in their next start, I'm usually if they're coming off a win, I'm trying to gauge the runner up in third place finish. Sometimes I'm just going to be here, they face and they're going to look good, donut, but other times I think they can be a little bit flattered. So those are the kind of factors I'm usually taking advantage. First time starters is a different situation. There's four main races on this one day special Saturday program at Churchill on Saturday in all four of them have like first or some big barns and you've got to take a look at pedigree. You got to take a look at works, you got to take a look at how trainers do with young horses and debut and horses. And then you got to match up the horses with experience. Are they favorable or are the horses that are either unraised or perhaps you know they needed a race so they're making their second or third start? Do they have more upside going forward? So, you know, it's all a little bit based on the complexion of the race. So any thoughts Dave on your side? You know, you look at Damon's mound. I look at a horse that went off at 9 to two first time out. You mentioned a salty field, but because the horse is not from one of the barns that we see all the time. And Michelle lovell does a terrific job. But that's a barn that looks a lot different than Steve asked me since barn. Absolutely. Gabe says doesn't run at Saratoga all the time. Because Gulfport is an uncle Moe, to me on paper, Gulfport is going to be an enormous favorite. I think you're going to get a reasonable price on Damon's mound. Now, when you go back and you watch the video and you can go through these horses races, they're only 5 horses, none of them have run more than three times. You can watch each of them. You can't watch Damon's mound and not be impressive, but because it doesn't come from one of those barns that I'm expecting to have great horses right out of the gate and horses that compete in graded stakes and beyond the road to The Kentucky Derby, I want to see another one. Yeah, and you're right about Michelle level. She's like having a great year and had a really good year last year. But you know, she gets to do a lot of home breads to train that, you know, our horses that go on and get better with their age. And you know, she just doesn't get a lot of two year olds for coaches two year olds and you look at garbage female family, yeah. I mean, be in by stroll and he's got some other sires like the prime minister and horses in like second, third brood mayor sires on the female side that are pretty undistinguished. The thing he has is he's by goring and Garvin, you know, he's standing right now in Florida day, but based on just his start at there's a chance he could be relocated, especially if he keeps it up moving forward because he has a bunch of winners already. He's passing on some talented youngsters that looks like in Damon's bound is the best of them. We've seen so far. This is the prisoner Colin show we'd love to hear from you 8 8 8 9 6 6 four 7 7 6 8 8 8 9 6 6 hr and a terrific card at Churchill downs coming up on Saturday, including the Beverly D and the Arlington million on the turf two questions. First James, what's the turf course looking like at Churchill right now? I mean, I mean, to this I thought it looks great. I mean, it looks green, at least good. You know, there's, I mean, the reports that have happened and they've scaled back instead of running four turf races. They're just going to run those two and in different lanes. So there still have an issue with the, I guess, the roots or the base maturing, you know, the way that they had anticipated, but they remain management remains extremely optimistic that it will be good for the two races on Saturday. Like you said, the Beverly D will be on the outside lane. It got 5 horses, but four pretty good ones, you know, Chad Brown and Indian O'Brien have horses in that lineup. And then the ROI to million will be on lane one, the inside lane. It's got a couple of grade one winners, no international shippers. But definitely I think, you know, it's a pretty intriguing race for handicapping wise because you can make a case for four horses and there. So, you know, we'll see, Dave, you know, I'm completely guessing and speculating because I'm not getting any inside information and they haven't run on the turf course since June 10th. But you know, I think that from all the accounts I've seen, they're optimistic, everything will go off without a hitch. 8 8 8 9 6 6 four 7 7 6 8 8 8 9 6 6 hr N to be a part of the brisnet call in show. Great racing at Churchill downs coming up on Saturday. James, is there anything whether it be at Churchill or elsewhere? You're eager to bet on this weekend. You know, I do. There's a heart, you know, there is a first time starter that I'm going to mention real quick for the audience at Churchill downs on Saturday in race number 8. It's a three year old and up maiden race. It has, it has like a pletcher has a first stir that's a half brother to grade one winner and has some promising horses. There's a horse number 9 pro oxidant and race a to Churchill on Saturday. He's 6 to one on the morning line for any. He's a half brother to multiple grade one winning sprinter, AP ND and grade two winner tish is another sibling.

"So they're not in the race, creative minister is your 9 to 5 favorite. I happen to think this is a pretty good version of the courland stakes that we're going to see this year. Creative minister is certainly one of the ones that has a big chance to win. Two horses just outside of them are both three to one right now on the board and they both have a big shot in here. Be better for Todd pletcher and artorias for Chad Brown. I'm going to lean just very slightly toward our tortoise. Debuted at keenland going 6 for a long, finished second, only beaten a length and a half after being about 7 wide turning for home. And coming from well out of it. They stretched them out to the one turn mile at Belmont last time out. And he got the maiden win as a three to 5 shot like you should. He beat a horse named gasoline, who's highly regarded. They were well clear of everybody else. He's by arrogate out of a ghost sapper mayor, he should appreciate extra distance. So this will be his first time going to turns and his first time going a mile in an 8th. I know the outside post is not phenomenal. But I think he's logical in the spot he's three to one. Be better has come off back to back mile and 70 yard wins around two turns at Monmouth in his most recent two starts, Louis sias picks up the mount on the son of uncle Moe, who coincidentally is owned by uncle Moe's owner, ripoli stable, Mike ripoli, of course, be better just looks like a horse was getting better and better. I don't know what he beat in those races at mom. I shouldn't say that. He beat a horse named cyber Viking last time out and he beat that horse by about 5 lengths and cyber Viking came back in one in his next start. So be better is beating decent runners and he's taking the logical step up in class. So western river, interesting spot for him. He avoids the really marquee names tomorrow in the Jim dandy of epicenter and early voting and zanden and even tawny port if you want to count them as a marquee name. And he comes into the curl and today, which seems like it should be a softer spot. It's softer, but it's not soft. And that's why he's 8 to one right now on the board horses are approaching the starting gate. Before they get

"Life is good. Currently in the barn of Hall of Fame trainer Todd pletcher, pleased to be joined by Hall of Fame trainer Todd pletcher now Todd, thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule. Happy to do it, Bobby. Todd, we know you've been a busy man. First of all, congratulations on a great finish in the Belmont stakes. We saw so much of Mike ripoli on TV. What are your reactions when you're running one two down the stretch? Well, it's pretty rare in any race, especially a classic where you kind of get to the 8th pole and you're running one two and you feel pretty confident that you've got the race in hand and I'm always one that waits till you get to the wire to really take it in and enjoy it. But in that case, kind of got to watch the last 8 of a mile with confidence that we were going to win so it's just really, really able to just sit back and kind of enjoy the moment. Must be exciting, getting to do it for two of your longtime owners, donegal racing and Mike ripoli. How did those two come together in partner in modern before the Belmont? Well, actually, within Mike, obviously, has been following mode donegal's career from the beginning, partly because I train him and partly because he's a son of uncle Moe, who might obviously owned when he was running and still owns a part of him standing stuttered Asher, but so he was always taking a little more interest in the horse because of that, but he was also an aqueduct. I think when he won the rems and he was at aqueduct, the day of the wood memorial. So he was able to see him in person a couple of times and Terry was looking to possibly put together a deal. With someone and when it was presented to Mike, he had interest in it and they were able to come to terms prior to The Kentucky Derby. Fantastic effort by both of your runners in the Belmont mode donegal and the Philly nest. Of course, nest was coming off a second place finish in the Kentucky oaks. That was not your only Kentucky oak starter though. You also had, who was a Philly that a lot of us didn't know anything about going into the Kentucky oak. She was undefeated four for four racing in Dubai. But then moved over to your barn. She ran a better than looked race in the yolks. What did you think about her trip? And what do you think about her and tomorrow's grade two mother goose? Well, I agree with you. I think she did run a race that's probably better than it reads on paper and she was still closing pretty well. Hunter legs up underneath her at the end of the at the end of the race and the yolks and still closing ground. Unfortunately, there she drew a really wide post and then the mother goose. She's drawn the rail so we kind of went from one extreme to the other. But I think the one turned nature of the mother goose should suit her fine and hopefully the inside draw it in compromiser. Is she a Philly that needs some pace help ahead of her? Yeah, she's not a super quick silly, but I think if they don't put on much pace that in this scenario it'll probably be okay she'll be able to lay a little bit closer. Well, we've talked about a few of the talented three year olds in your barn. You have so many of them would love to hear progress or the whereabouts of some of the other ones, not only did you have modon ago running in The Kentucky Derby, but you also had charge it and pioneer of Medina, where are these three year olds now and what's in their future? Well, they're both at Belmont park, pioneer Medina just came back in a few days ago. You got a freshening and Kentucky just gave them a little time off after the after the Derby. So he's just coming back, hopefully we'll see him later in the later in the fall. Charge it scheduled to breeze tomorrow. It's done really well since the Derby in a minor throat procedure. We displaced the soft power and the Derby and so hopefully we've got that corrected been trained in super and things go well tomorrow. We're looking at the wire that Belmont on July 2nd. Todd, when you have high quality runners like charge it and mode on pioneer Medina and nest and, how much of a chess player are you? How many moves in advance are you looking if things go right for these talented runners? Well, in the beginning of the year, especially with the three year olds, it's all about trying to find the correct prep races and we know what the primary goal is to hopefully get to The Kentucky Derby the best way you can to qualify with points and so really it's about moving the chess pieces hopefully to the right prep races and then after the Derby we've generally taken up 5 weeks and geared towards the Belmont or in some cases some other races, but one of the things that I'm pleased with are proud of is that we've had 62 runners in The Kentucky Derby, including this year and I think with Moe donegal, that was like the 31st or 32nd horse that we came back and won a stake with one of our Derby starters. So we've been fortunate to get a lot of them there and still have them come out and do well afterwards. One of the three year olds that we haven't talked about a lot and maybe some people have forgotten about is corniche. He, of course, was the eclipse award two year old champ last year. He also is in your barn now. Where's Cornish and when can we see him next? Well, he's at Belmont who also be breezing. This will be his third brief for us tomorrow and right now we kind of have the Amsterdam in Saratoga on July 31st penciled in as first possible start. I think we're right on schedule for that if everything continues to go smoothly as it has so far. So obviously very talented horse unbeaten two year old and trained to trans the way you'd expect one like that too. Maybe a horse that looks as good as anybody we've seen in a while when he trains is life is good and he looks as good on the racetrack in the afternoons as he seems to look in the mornings. We haven't seen him since the Dubai World Cup when he had a clear lead at the top of the stretch and then just got tired down the lane. I see that he is listed in the noms for next weekend's nehru. Is he going to run next weekend? That's the plan. He too is going to breeze tomorrow and we're thinking we haven't run since Dubai. I think in retrospect that Dubai the surface that night was just incredibly deep and I think it really played against us. We're race of quality of horses like that to run a final time as slowly as they did just indicates to me what we were concerned about and that was just conditions that probably didn't sue the horse as brilliant as him. And really turned that mile in the quarter race and good 70 yards further than that really felt like so he's come back well. He spent some time out of wood and started getting a fresh he's come in trained awesome like you always does and so we're hoping that we can go into the nehru and then kind of move forward for the Whitney. Is he a horse that you would still at this point think could possibly handle a mile and a quarter in the breeders cup classic? This horse when you watch him train in the mornings you would think you would be capable of doing anything. So I'm not going to not going to hold the Dubai race against him just because of the conditions of the surface. I think just didn't suit him, but we'll learn a lot more in his next couple of starts and I think that will determine which way we go towards the end of the year. Todd, before we let you go, one thing that maybe not a lot of people know or people have forgotten you before you went out on your own. You worked with Dwayne Lucas for a few years and before that, you worked for Charlie whittingham. Are there any things that stand out from working with Charlie or Wayne that either you've adopted into your training style or the way you run a shadow saying I need to do things just like that? Well, I mean, I think one of the reasons you try to work for trainers like wittingham and Lucas and I was fortunate enough to spend one summer with waiting him and one summer with Lucas when I was in school and another trainer out in California Henry Marina a couple of summers and obviously my dad growing up..

"Com, you can see more information on all 25 stallions standing there, including into mischief and authentic and I mentioned vino Rosso and mattoli and known agenda who are new to the stallion roster. Who are a couple of others Ned that maybe we haven't mentioned haven't touched on yet that you want to go ahead and talk about. The floor is yours. Well, you know, we brought in a group of stallions this year that really, really proud of, we have 5, 5 new stallions this year. So you up on winner the grade one four go. A son of uncle Moe out of a vindication mayor. He's an absolutely stunning individual and of course uncle Moe is continued to go to new heights. So having a having a son of uncle Moe has been overwhelmingly popular. He's his book filled up as quick as any horse we've ever had. We've actually had to tell people that we've not been able to sell seasons for him in a while because he filled up so quickly and at this point I'll give the thoroughbred charities of America auction a little plug because they're going to have y'all con a yawn season available there for to be bid on. And so that will go to a great cause. And it'll give breeders at least one more chance to get a yup on because he's been very, very much in demand. And actually, there'll be a bolt doro is the other season that we'll have in there. And he's been overwhelmingly popular in book long since full. So that's going to give breeders two chances to be able to support a great cause and get to a couple of horses that they will not otherwise be able to get to. Known agendas, the other top horse we're bringing in, son of kerlin. Won the Florida Derby, which is really when you look at it, has really proved over the in recent history to be a great sire making race, one of the things I love about known agenda too. He's a great one winner himself. He's out of a grade one winner. And Andy, so he's buy a grade one winner out of a grade one winner and grade one winner himself. So, you know, they're just quality throughout throughout that pedigree. And again, Florida Derby winner got a lot of that. He's been very, very popular as well. Rock your world, another one. Santa Anita Derby winner. It was really about we felt like a real feather in our cap to bring in two stallion prospects that are winners of really the major Derby, perhaps on each coast. So rock your world won the Santa Anita Derby this year. Had a horrible break just got absolutely wiped out at the start of the Derby. Otherwise, I think we would have been much more of a factor in there, but very, very talented son of candy ride $650,000 yearly yearling with from a very, very deep commercial family. So really excited about him as well. Two horses down in that under $10,000 range at 7500 are based in who's a Liam's map, winner of the hopeful. You know, it's interesting that the hopeful you know that's always been considered a really a marquee race and an important race in America throughout the years and so he was a very convincing winner of the hopeful that too. He's obviously so obviously that makes him very precocious, beautiful looking animal limbs map has kind of continued to climb the climb the ranks in the stallion world. So very happy to have a son of him and a really good-looking and talented horse there. And then a really interesting horse and by my standards by my standards is a sonic golden sense. He's the first son of golden sands to come to stud. Obviously, so this makes him a grandson of into mischief. By my standards, is just an absolute workhorse. This horse had almost $2.3 million in earnings. Four time grade two winner just missed in the Met mile twice second in the Whitney he's the horse you got to come look at he's a really beautiful animal. He's a great horse to kind of tidy up a bigger stouter mayor. You know, really, really excited about him. But that sound is just a great, great career that he had as a resource. And he's a horse. You know, about a nose away from being a substantially more expensive first year's dead fee. So he had 75,000. I think represents great value to breeders. So that's our first year crop that we're bringing in this year and we're really, really proud of them. Ned toffee, ladies and gentlemen, what a job he and the team do. It's been thrift again, spent through a farm dot com is the place to go. Ned, happy new year to you and to your family and to the family it's been through. If they're Gustafson the owner, Mark two take care, everybody there who just does fantastic work. Keep up the wonderful work with all the stallions and I'm sure we'll talk again soon, my friend. Mike, thank you for having me and happy new year to you and Michelle. All right. That toffee here on HR N when I come back, a very special special. A big announcement. It's special too, I guess. "Last time out. That's an understatement. She's by uncle Moe out of a where's the ring there, so at least on the top side, I think she should have no problem handling the extra distance. And to be perfectly honest, if we're going with the theory that California angel is better turf than dirt, I think only cocktail moments has to beat your top pick. Number 8 north county to get the money, that may be easier said than done. But that's why I'm going to pick her. By the way, there's no chance she's three to one in this race. She can't possibly be three to one off that running line. I think she's closer to 8 to 5 in this race. But cocktail moments for me, north county for Dave in the able race ten Sunday at fairgrounds. 11th race on the Sunday fairgrounds card is the $100,000 gun runner, mile and a 16th on the main track. Field of 7 going to post here. And unlike the untapable, there are several different ways you can go and horses that are already proven either around two turns or on the dirt epicenter coming off an impressive one turn mile win and has made and win a Churchill last time out, rocket dog, very impressive going 7 furlongs in his debut and tejano twist already a three time winner, including a stakes race last time out at Churchill. Yeah, I think those are the three. I think you highlighted the three top contenders and tejano twist has been running against small fields in sprints. This is a medium sized field and it's a two turn race, just not really sure what we're going to see. The figs are really, really good if tejano twists runs at a mile and a 16th like he did at 6 and 6 and a half for a long, then he's got a really, really good chance to win. Epicenter comes out of a race that returned one winner and the rest of the horses when they came back didn't run particularly well. Steve asked me since horse was 13 to one on debut, didn't run great, and then ran very well in beating that field that I mentioned last time out. To me, rocket dog is coming out of a race that returned four horses to win and it was a dominating performance. A 5 and a half length win in an 11 horse field at Churchill downs. That's where I went. I went to rocket dog too. By the way, neglected to mention that the untapable is a points qualifying race for next year's Kentucky oaks. This gun runner, a points qualifying race for next year's Kentucky Derby ten points to the winner for the second place finisher two for third and one for fourth. So important races on the road to the next year's Kentucky oaks and Derby respectively are the untapable and the gun runner. I agree with you, Dave, I think rocket dog is the horse to beat. And I don't think he should have any problem going around two turns, classic empire, his sire is been more of a sprint stallion than a routes stallion as far as his offspring thus far, but he himself was a nice router. And out of a distorted humor, Mary, you would think that have no problem going around two turns. So I liked what I saw from rocket dog as well. Three to one on the morning line. He's not favored on the morning line. I find it hard. If he's not favored at post time, I may have to pay a little bit closer attention because I just think that I don't think there's anyone in the race whose run as well as rocket dog did in his debut. If he repeats it, it'll probably win if he improves so probably win. Obviously, if it goes backwards, he probably won't win. That sounds like a 67% chance as far as I'm concerned. Rocket dog for both Dave and myself in the gun runner race 11 on the Sunday card at fairgrounds. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we are going to head out west. They have got a whole lot of graded stakes action at the great race place, opening day at Santa Anita is this Sunday, and we'll dive in. This is the weekend stakes preview presented by nyra betts on the horse racing radio.

"The Oklahoma Derby 6 prolonged in a minute 13.75 into the stretch, race on. It's dean martini, giving way batting outside to hear shared sense of mimosa farther out. How about guard to the inside dark we can easily live. Shared sense now has the advantage and has shared since trying to pull clear with a 16th ago, shared sense is going on to win the Oklahoma Derby by three mimosa solid second Liam tougher third avant garde forth. Dale day on the call of last year's grade three Oklahoma Derby won impressively by shared sense and shared sense is going to try his hand this Sunday in the tenacious stakes at fairgrounds. Welcome back to the weekend stakes preview presented by nyra betts Bobby Newman Dave Friedman 14 races we're looking at over this holiday weekend. All of them taking place on Sunday and speaking of that tenacious stakes, race number 8 on the fairgrounds card on Sunday. $100,000 on the line for the three year olds and up mile and a 16th on the main track pretty evenly matched field of ten set to go to post Dave and it is number 5 shared sense who's the morning line favorite at 5 to two. And I like shared sense the best in here. And I think shared sense is the most likely winner in here. I also think there's an opportunity to get a price. The race that we played there, the Oklahoma Derby. That race would profile similar to this one in terms of the quality of feel. Since then, shared sense has been running against some better horses losing to Nick's go last time in a grade three at Churchill downs facing horses like art collector and plainsman and force a dioro and when shared sense has faced fields sort of like this, he has done rather well. I think he's the best horse in here. He is my pick in here. He beat major fed, and he beat chess chief last time out. Could either of them turn the tables on them? Sure they could. I think happy American is interesting here, stepping up for Neil Pessin coming off a really, really good-looking race in an optional claimer at Churchill downs. I think pirates punch at a price has an opportunity toss out the turf race last time out, putting up some pretty good figs and back in 2020 would have been good enough to beat these may have been the favored against these. And big dreaming has figs that fit as well. Particularly when you look back at some of the dirt races, which would be more similar to this race. I think shared since the most likely winner, I am gonna be dabbling with a bunch of horses when I actually bet it. Okay, so you're going to go with the favorite shared sense as a likely winner and spreading out with him. I'm going to use a horse you didn't mention. Number three trident hit as my top selection for Ronald quit. And Dave Cabrera, this horse was very disappointing last time out in the hawk memorial at Remington when he was beaten by three and a half something lengths at odds of three to 5. I think it was just a clunker for him. His previous races would give him a chance in here, including a nice allowance win at Churchill downs at a mile in a 16th two starts back. I'm willing to look past that last race. You're going to get a much better price this time out. One more time for me with number three trident hit. If you can somehow find a reason to draw a line through his last race to me he's as good as anybody in the field and he's going to be a nice price. 6 to one on the morning line for trident hit in the tenacious. Moving up to the 9th race on Sunday, $75,000 buddy deliberate memorial, mile in a 16th on the turf for the three year olds and up will have a full field of 12 here Dave, where you end up. I think this is a really complicated race. 5 of them, monarchs Glen, logical myth, another mystery. Pixelate and 40 under are all coming out of the same race. One of them broke through the gate in that race, another one ran into trouble. I had a really difficult time kind of coming to any sort of conclusion about what that race means. I think it's very possible that number 7 cavalry charge and number 1240 under could be out on a pretty slow pace. And I'm interested in cavalry charge to win this race, wired a wire at a really nice price. But I think the most likely winner is spooky channel for Jason Barkley, who has back to back victories. I think we'll be coming late, and hopefully can tactically be not too far back today. I like the horses that spooky channel has been running against. I think it's the most likely winter. I would need to spread and I do think there's a chance to get a price. I agree with everything you said. And I think spooky channel is the likeliest, the most logical, as far as the how about the safest play. He runs his race more often than not, and he's been running against better horses. He makes a lot of sense. That being said, I'm going to try number 5 big dreaming on top. He was entered in both the tenacious and this race, I think he was only entered in the tenacious in case it rained and it moved that and just to have options. But he's a better turf force than he is a dirt horse. And he's in good form right now. I like his recent, I like his effort on a synthetic track last time out, but before that, I liked his effort on the turf at keeneland in an unconditioned allowance race. I think that's good enough to put him right there and at 8 to one, I'm going to put him on top. So big dreaming for me, spooky channel for Dave in the buddy deliberate of memorial race 9 on the fair grounds card this Sunday. Tenth race is for the two year old Phillies. It's the $100,000 uncapable. Mylan 70 yards on the main track field of 8 Dave and marks the return of cocktail moments boy, she was ultra impressive in her debut at Churchill. Yes, she went off at 26 to one came off the pace and just blew by a field that I don't know if it was all that great posted a big fig very, very visually impressive and is three to one here and if you believe that last race, if you think that race is gonna be repeated, you should bet on cocktail moments because the price is fair. I went with north county on the extreme outside for Brendan Walsh. I just think the horse's north county has run against both in a turf race at Indiana grand debuting went off at 6 to 5 and one by four lengths and last time out in a non winners at two lifetime other than a maiden race at keener on a race that was taken off the turf. The horses that were in that race came back and ran competitively one of them beat feeling happy who is in this race today. I think north county is run against the best horses is two for two and that's where I'm going with a 9 to price that I think is fair. Well, I agree that north county has a big shot. I'm not really sure that she ran against the best horses. I would guess number two, California angel is the one who's coming out of the races. She ran in the grade one breeders cup juvenile Philly's turf last time out, and even though she wasn't really a contender, she was only beaten four lengths. But those were turf races. Right. And those are turf races, and that's the big question mark for her. The one time she ran on the dirt was by far speed rating wise, the slowest of her four lifetime starts. And now she's getting back to the dirt. So we don't know what we're going to get from California angel. I can't get creative here. I think cocktail moments look good last time out. That's an understatement. She's by uncle Moe out of a where's the ring there, so at least on the top side, I think she should have no problem handling the extra distance..

"Which sort of answers the question really ahead of it, but I'll ask it anyway. Wesley is synonymous with heading over to royal ascot. We know that he'll do that. To be fair, he was confident beforehand, but she was quite weak in the market, surprisingly weak in the market, I thought for the confidence that he was showing in both of his horses in both her and Avery. It seemed to be quite difficult for him to split them. Perhaps we got a little bit carried away with four from four for every chain. For royal ascot next season, Avery Jane defeat here does not preclude her from going on and succeeding next season. There's no reason why she can't. But we're twice gleaming having already gone to our last guard and running a massive race. It's hardly going to be the Commonwealth. It's surely the king's stand because she's all speed. She's beaten the boys on this occasion hasn't she emit and I thought that was quite impressive to be honest. So obviously the Commonwealth cup next year she'd have to race against the cult then she'd have a lighter weight on my back, like this time around, so perhaps that could be advantage. Would 6 suitor though? Would you would you prefer to get that go for the 5 on day one? Yeah, maybe the Qing stand. Yeah. That stiff uphill finish at ascot does catch a lot of forces out. I think it is the stretch and a bit further. And they're used to. It's also surprising unless you're there and you see it. And you're actually on track and you can look down and see as a fan, if you're on the rail and you're just there, but if you walk the track, if you're lucky enough to get to do that, it's surprisingly steep. Naomi, in terms of next year for campaigning, obviously, these are horses that we're going to see racing in the UK next year in France as well, possibly even Ireland, who knows. Coffee maker that was an awful lot talked about and this was the chosen one for the Coventry. She's run a fine race and look, she's more than paying her way. But Twilight gleaming is the one that gets the headlines for next year is she a Commonwealth cup horse is she always that you would trust to get 6 or kind of like what Lucy and I are thinking I'm very much of the mindset king stand with her for next year. I'm going to agree with you and Lucy just thinking about how indeed some of these Americans do get caught out by the undulations of the European tracks and how if you look at Wesley ward sort of the program he has their horses tend to perform very well over these minimal distances or the 5 furlong, I think work perfectly for you, I think she can get the 5 and a half, 6 on an American flat track, which does take a little bit less starch out of them. Yes. I think she's better off sticking with the distance that's clearly she loves so much. I'm gonna stick with the ladder. I'm gonna agree with you and Lucy on that front. I think that's the safer option in a way. Yeah, it makes sense. And also, it's not like he hasn't tasted success with these colors in that race. Hello, lady aurelia. Who came pretty much the same route only difference being that Lydia really blitzed her rivals in the Queen Mary Twilight gleaming I think with rona protocols and everything can be forgiven and defeat there. And like I said, she has one French listed race. She could be one for the nun thought, couldn't she? Because York is that bit flatter? It's a race Wesley ward likes doesn't like to target one for. Yeah. The thing about the known thought that I find fascinating is that cool more had bought into golden Powell purely it was kind of like in and around the time that they realized, oh, crap, we don't have anything for the non Thorpe. Oh, Wesley's got a horse. And suddenly they acquired him. And he just seemed to be so crestfallen. That's what I was so taken with, but we'll come to that in a little bit because that'll be for day two. But don't worry. I can give you some background on because I spoke with Wesley Woods in the morning leading up to it. I asked him about, you know, golden power, and then I'm still like, what went wrong? Because dead honest, I was wrong about the host. I kind of wrote him off because of that. I thought he was exposed against the European sprinters. I was like, well, I guess, you know, maybe it wasn't as good as we thought. And Wesley Woods said that you just highlighted there were no excuses. He could not figure out why the horse didn't fire. So he just basically shrug your shoulders and said, you know, sometimes, I guess they just don't have a good day. And then I did hear from someone else. He was getting on a couple horses for him. That Wesley ward had mentioned that golden Pao is probably if not one of the best but the best horse he's ever trained. So I was like, wait, what? Golden Powell, in the mornings, yeah, that's what and reliable source here. Yeah, no, he golden pause looking incredible in the mornings as well. So in a way, I feel like an idiot reading all the size, right? I'm getting all the info here. And I'm like, nah, nah. And he goes and does that of course in the British tourist sprint. But Wesley was very confident that this horse was going to run well and bounced back. I guess there was no excuses very unfortunate. But I guess the horse just showed us on track on Saturday, so. I mean, we may as well just jump ahead to Saturday and just talk about it. I mean, we can. They intertwine so well with one another. We may as well do that, particularly when you have that piece of information as well. So Twilight gleaming is by national defense of a dance city mayor. Golden Powell is by uncle Moe out of a midshipman. They're both bred for speed. And the bars around golden Powell was just extraordinary leading up to York. Yeah. Like luci and I were on for talk sport two. So we were covering the race live. And it was almost as if anybody backing anything else because this thing's going to bolt up, particularly with the cool more powers having bought in and Frankie's on board. And market was in the horse's favor. Yes, open twos goes out to 5 to two, but still the money came for the French horse in the end. And who also didn't exactly run much of a race. And to Lucy's credit, you put up winter power. Rory had put up on the final furlong. But emirati Anna. So I was being clever with that. Sorry, I was with dragon symbol. But all the time in the back of my mind, I was thinking this golden power is just going to crush everything. And it was so deflating. But again, it was. It was too bad to be true. It was if he was beaten in third like dragon symbol. You could go not that good. Not as good as I was thought. But when he finishes that far back, it's only a 5 length defeat, but you're beaten 7th and it's almost like Frankie's looking around as if he's a hurdler going to pull him up..

"Presented by hillendale farms, Bobby Newman and Jude feld live here in the grandstand at del mar. Well, please now to be joined by the vice president at Denali stud, Conrad band are off by hearing that stretch run must bring back good memories, my friend. Yeah, that was that was a fun one. Uncle mo was Brad and raised by Mike cavey and Nancy temple of respite farm and you know they from a boutique operation of have raised some just amazing horses, uncle mo, champagne room. You know, they've they really do a fantastic job and we've been the beneficiary being able to sell some, some nice weanlings and some that have gone on to achieve great success and then sound some mayor's forum, so no, uncle mo was was one. He was kind of good to everyone all along. You know, we sold them as a wing lane. I think he got resold as a yearling. They made money, resold as a two year old in training. They made money, so he's been he's been a good horse for a lot of people. For our shows, Mike Penn and the president of HR and he coined the phrase, uncle Moe and everybody else. He must have said that like 5000 times in the course of broadcast. I mean, we were so impressed with them up at Saratoga and he's gone on to do great things on the racetrack. And then as a stud, he's like one of the freaks. I mean he's as good as it gets, right? Everybody's lining up to breed dunkle Mao. He's one of the best, and I remember, you know, when the Derby came around, he was going to be one of the he was going to be the favorite. And he scratched the morning of the Derby. And that was actually the first Derby I was going to. I was a senior in high school, never been to the Derby before, and we had two connections we had uncle mo and then of course we had animal kingdom who was born and raised on the farm and making his first start on dirt had been training really well, but we thought our real shot was with mow, and so he scratched. We pick up Johnny V on animal kingdom and, you know, the rest is history. Yeah. You mentioned uncle Moe. You mentioned animal kingdom a yearling grad, real quiet, a yearling grad for Denali, Royal Academy, a yearling sales grad, champagne room a wheeling grad pluck folded and raised by Denali studs, sir Winston the yearling grad. The list goes on and on. And you've got a real interest in this year's breeders cup and especially in the distaff with malat who went through the program at Denali stud. She ended up selling for over a $1 million back in 2019 as a yearling what does it mean when we say these horses went through your program? Well, you know, malith was bread and raised by stone street. Barbara benke and her amazing team and you know, we're very fortunate that we get to sell sell some really nice horses for stone street. You know, we get to be a part of that program, it's something that we take a lot of pride and honor in. They raise us as good a horse as anybody. And you know, for her mouth that I remember, we went out to the farm and we're looking at the we're looking at our draft a yearlings that we're going to sell for them and we're with John moynihan and Robert Turner of the yearling manager and John Donaldson and adviser and we're looking at the horses and mallet that comes out and, you know, it's very much as a yearling. She is, you know, she's the same now. She just she captivates you. She has such a presence about her and she just commands your attention and she comes out and we're looking at her and you know, my dad and I kind of exchange a sideway glance and we're like, oh, like, wow. Just goosebumps, and we've learned that those kind in the stone street program don't always show up. On the sales ground because Barbara usually decides to keep them, or can decide to keep them and in this case, now at that came to the sale and, you know, she was just, she was just a gorgeous yearling, so much class, you know, beautiful head on her, really intelligent kind eye. And you know, shake hand damn, you know, rest in peace, came by and saw and it's always a good sign and you know that he likes one when he checks their throat latch. So he checked her throat latch and we're like, all right. Let's do this. But it's a great point of pride when you sell a horse for 7 figures or over a million and they go on to warrant that price tag and she was a horse that every time you looked at you, you just started to like or more and more and she's one of those that you just said, wow, you know, like she could be anything. And you know she's only she's only lost one race and she got shag a little ganged up on in that race. But she's coming into this race in great shape and I think it actually sets up really well for and we're hoping for hoping for a big result on Saturday. Go ahead. I was just going to talk about she calmed them and how exciting it was when he would come to look at your horses. One time when I first moved to Kentucky, I was working for narvik international a manual lesso, and Sheik hominins plane was late, and I had never met she, and. Emmanuel said, would you be willing to stay for Shay comment to show him the horse that I said? Absolutely. And he was so nice in such a good horseman. I mean, he knew what he was looking at. And he would look at a horse a long time sometimes and sometimes he would dismiss him right away, and it goes back to the thing you were talking about presents. When you look at horses a lot, you kind of get that feeling that this is maybe a special horse or a horse that commands attention and he had that ability in power and it was just amazing when he looked at horses and it was a good feeling when he liked one. You just knew, wow, this must be a really good horse because he sees him all over the world in all different styles and types and that's really cool. No, absolutely. He was a great judge and you're so right. He would really look look into the horse. And you know, see, how is their mind and that was something that he always looked for. You knew if you were showing him a horse and they didn't give the best show or if they acted up, you were like, well, you know, that one's that one's off the list. But it was he did have an amazing way. You could just standing back observing him. You could tell that he was almost trying to look into the soul of the horse. Yeah. And it was a very gracious man and you know it's a tremendous loss to the global industry, but it's also fantastic to see the family continuing it on and I just wish that he could have been there and you know, the first first Friday or first Friday in May and seeing her perform in the Kentucky oaks. We were fortunate enough, we co bred travel column who ran in the oaks when we co.

"If lewis will be very tough to real in second leg guy add it starts the ten percent pick five the all stakes In this case Ten cents headsets ten percent pick five. This is the princess elaine The minnesota distaff turf coming out of the chute mile in sixteenth and Nice nice group of nine in here really ready. Runaways is a mac robertson. Production eight to five with torino's the morning line favorite. She's never one of the church she's she's raised to one. Yeah i haven't got beat by first mate when they faced each other and the grass and there was The last year mack ran ran. Ready to run away short In the in the of this sprint. On john festival night and one that ridge this year is going long and there was an interesting. I think was published last night on r. f. dot com Interview by mary. Grandpa pollini with mac and he explained why he decided to go along he just thinks she's better and reaches her stride better in the long racist where she struggles the gap going short. So you never know. With mac and i. I was curious about that. Didn't have a chance to ask them. But i found out last night reading that story. And that's mac does remarkable things when festival and we talked about we last. That's right that's right i will. I'm gonna mention one horse In part because i want to Shine a light in the direction of cody. Rosa rosin Who's at a terrific me Nine wins going into Today and Forty-eight starters all native and and i bring up this horse who is is maybe just a cut beneath on figures and comes in just a tiny bit slow to win but is a horse that is going to be running late and there is a fair amount of pace in here. Jeff i co all the native the six at twelve to one could pick up some pieces here just fyi to if you're looking for price to include oddly enough We have a little a little cross box invitational handicap in contest up here. You've gotta find prices. I've got a mark next to all native as my contest back. So there you go with you. The horse the turn. She's running been as competitive and she finishes fast. So you're absolutely right. We're gonna get double digit ads. No double digit odds on cinco star In the blairs cove. No that's another another lot of mac robertson talker. That's another property in eight to five Is it's very competitive. Force in probably and figures stands out over the rest of the. There's some good ones in your desire on the rail You know son of uncle. Moe's got a lot of speed and it's just a. I think it's been brilliant with hall of fame regained butler aboard for tony ringstorff. So i'm not just gonna hand it to cinco star because i think there are some other runners in here and you know even down wada who is not based on the turf is more of a dirt horse but if he were to find his form he could be he could be very competitive as well so single style the likely winner but i i don't think the sense well And again we've got a late running type that has made. Hey all meet long devil vision twelve to one. Yeah that's an interesting. One and clint stewart started out. He started the meet with. I think he only won one out of thirty year. Something and then he really came on and this. He's a an excellent trainer. I believe he's got kelsey. How're writing she. She's a good finisher as well. Then she seems to get the horses in the right place and gets run out if she's been aboard this source all summer long and has a couple of victories. So you're right. That's another horse. That probably goes overlooked because some of the heavy heads in here but it should be making a run late to. Kobe is another that is consistent. Just a a consistent type that you know. You've you can dissipate. We'll run the run his race. Gary share the trainer to he shows up on festival sneaky. He's he's not having a typical shear. Meet this year but consistent. Wednesday chris money is on the line he i think he's pretty good especially in festival and so this was not a summer of g. As we as we have referred to some gary scherer summers but We love gary and of course All all of the progeny of Of one of the great stallions of all time merrill And and the you'll through And happy new year to the links the northern lights view turkey is the second half for the two year olds. And the boys we've got loved the nest joe burnt. Who's at terrific summer. yeah. I don't know if you've ever had joel. Interviewed him ahead him on. I have a great guy. I mean such and i've known him probably for twenty years. Never wants his. He said to me. This horse is the real deal. And he's said that about love. The nasty is so high on this. And that i hope it does good things for all is one of those winters in this sport. That immediate guy if you need something from them you know even if it means coming into the barn during naptime he'll show up you'll you'll help out and that's i love guy and he's he's had a great needy leading trainer. Last year love the nest. Interestingly enough we mentioned feet manson and the two year old filly race. Well he owns to to the colts in here. But he also brad loved the nest and sold at At the cuban sale last september. So he's got a lot of interest in here love the nest. I think though absolutely the horse speech and we moved to the sprint and I i know. I made this suggestion earlier in the summer. I maybe it was the distance may be getting back to Three quarters is is the tonic for mr yeager. Meister i hope so But i it does seem that. I don't wanna say as gary young would that it's after midnight But you know you do wonder the amazing six year old Atta boy roy. for valerie lund and Eight to five to start here and I mean he's he's the the focus certainly going in. We forgot to mention his full sister in the debutante as well. That's another one to take a look at. But i talked to valerie lunch About yeager meister. And i tend to believe her because sometimes she's put me on some live purses and and yeager meister obviously his form has that been great after after dominating the ten thousand lakes and had ran against some of the best sprinters in the country at oakland This spring he He's been battling quarter crack most of the summer and i guess at one point had a bar shoe on on And he's been working well. Ribbon puentes worked in the other morning. He worked in fifty nine. Change came off the tracks. Saying he's back so i hope that's true. I i love mystery egger master. He's been good for canada and he's You know all time it leading money earner and for minnesota bread so if this is the real mystery egger meister that we see tomorrow night i. I don't see anybody beating them. But you know we're we're going to be wagering on these razors to and we're gonna have a short including the alligator hunter In this rates the three year old taking older so very depressed but these these are some of the best is in the history racing again. Well that gets us to the distaff sprint championship and the phillies and mayors. Obviously click bait in here. Sixty five for mac from the rail has been successful And his face open company star of the north nine to five for cisco bravo and they got beaten. The oaks cuts back here though to three quarters.
