Fresh update on "umass" discussed on The Playbook

"You know I mean just crazy as kids but I loved. Playing every kind of sport out there except that was the shortest kid on the block and I knew I would never ever in a million years play Varsity in my high school or anything like I wish I lived on your block Andrew because then you could have been second shortest. But at least at least you did you actually did something with your your prowess at all? But Anyway I took a passion to photography very early a liking to it because my dad bought me a camera when I was fourteen, we took a trip out to all the western. National Parks, and I just saw that that I was able to express myself and it wasn't a very shy kid. But I I found a way to express myself through my photography and it was very Cathartic and it was very I. Don't know liberating in a way, and then when I was introduced to the magic of the darkroom back in the day, you know people don't even know what I'm talking about but. But. You know what I saw that I print come up in my friend Andrew Feldman Basement darkroom in Brooklyn I. The ages like yesterday. This is like fifty years ago it was it just was literally like a magic trick to me and I. I kind of knew that this is the path I wanted to take I had no idea that you could make a career out of it you know you're a kid I was fourteen fifteen but I knew something that I enjoyed and I it gave me some validation as like the shortest kid but also sort of the class clown but I had the always had a camera around with me. And things got really serious when I got the University of Massachusetts I love telling this story but I got I got there and back in the day David you remember that you have to write to the registrar and get the course catalog. Right? There was nothing online. Catalogue Right I applied to a bunch of schools. I. Got The course catalog of looking through it. I'm thinking well, I wanted to be close to Home I. Don't WanNa go to school that he said I actually grew up with get. But I wanted to be within three four hours at home in Amherst Massachusetts was perfect and. To look through the course Catalog, Oh the communications department but I didn't really look too far into that thinking well, photography's part of communications I get to Umass and I start enrolling in classes and I realized they don't have any photography classes there. But they did have a daily newspaper which was a godsend to me and it was very prestigious college paper five days a week and I two weeks into my freshman year they be. They'd be assistant photo editor because no one else wanted to do it but I learned everything from the inside and that passion just continued to the point where I had to had to take it to the next level and learn really the science history, all the creative aspects of photography. So I packed it up the Blizzard of seventy eight moved out here to L. A. and And went to art center and graduated from there and and through connections at Art Center and teachers that believed in me mentors that are still with me as as valued people in my life as introduced to Petar from sports illustrated, and that's really got at first crack in the door for me and. You know being in Brooklyn Guy I. Crack in the door able to kind of stick my whole foot in there. and. That's what it takes..

Social Distancing in Summer

Coronavirus: Fact vs Fiction

Social Distancing in Summer

"Has the summer heats up. People all over the country are considering now. How much risk they are willing to take as they venture outside. Some are thinking about reuniting with friends and family for the first time. Others are trying to decide whether or not to take a road trip. What about physically distanced backyard barbecue? Just. How risky is it to make this summer? Feel like well summer. It is important to understand what the likelihood of contracting the corona virus is and transmitting it. So that you can make the right decisions for yourself and for your family. I'm Dr Sanjay. Gupta CNN's chief medical correspondent. And this is corona, vice, fact versus fiction. So I have an eleven at neely eleven and thirteen year olds, and so the conversations were having now are about what else summa looks like. That's Aaron Judge, Professor, at UMASS DARTMOUTH and CNN contributor since his blog post about avoiding situations with a high risk of infection went viral. He's become a resource for many people. Some does look a little bit different, and there's been a lot of tears in this house over the last eight weeks, but We're trying to gain normalcy for our children as much as we can. The possibility of having a normal summer is not a lot of our minds. So I asked Erin about some of the questions. I've been hearing from you. Starting with pools is it safe to take a dip properly maintain to pull. Water will not be a source of spread of the virus. The chlorine that's in its will inactivate virus fairly quickly and the level of dilution that would happen in a pool or notional or lodge freshwater body would not lead to enough virus to establish an infection. But when you do this, you need to just make sure that we're maintaining an appropriate physical distance and create a little bit of extra space I. Don't know if you or your family members have been doing any hiking or going for long walks around your neighborhood. What precautions do do you think people should take if they just WANNA go for a walk or a hike? So, we have as a family, we each have three mosques We have a better quality one if we get into grocery stores or anywhere. We know there's going to be a lot of people. We have one win. We're just going to do a show. Than we have out general sort of mosque, which is a neck data that we use any time we go hiking or around the neighborhoods where we know that we are able to social distance the vast majority of time, but there are some times where the path my narrow and. while. The brief encounter is not as risky as the longer one. It's not no risk and you don't know the risk factors of the person that is walking past you and I tend to take mosques a little bit more altruistically. It is about me wearing them to protect us, and so when we get in that situation, we just literally pull up gate of mosques over our face. We do that about fifty feet out from the person or people. People so they can see what we're doing. And then we just run a little bit of a wider above as we possibly can. Games like soccer or basketball, would you? Would you be okay? People playing those? Yeah, I'm eat soccer coach and I really want to get my teams out on the fields, but not playing scrimmages yet were not sure enough especially with children about their role in infection and transmission, so no, I'm not yet there for. Those sports, but as long as it doesn't bring you in face to face contact. I think the the risk is low. A baseball of Frisbee is not right up there where I'm spending my anxiety. What about a road trip this summer for family? They want to go on a road trip and stay in either a hotel or an AIRBNB. Something like that. If it's your own family, I'm not to consent. Call head to the hotel. Will the YOU'RE GONNA? Stay at ask what they cleaning protocols are end what this Stafa wearing while they cleaning the room and if that comes into line with what your risk is for your. Your family then I would proceed a medium sized gathering like a birthday party or a wedding ceremony. Would you be okay with that? Weddings done outsides with appropriate spacing. Absolutely it can be done a birthday party again in a backyard outside can be done. I. Just encourage people to bring their own chairs while it's nice to stand up in chat, we find. People stopped to move closer and closer the more comfortable they feel, and if you've got a chair, you don't drift and that just maintains the safety while keeping the social aspect I. I really love your your practicality because you are thinking exactly how people probably behave. Disneyworld they're planning on opening up in July. What do you think about amusement parks? Yes, so amusement parks I mean if they they can institutionalize cleaning and. Keeping. Systems like lines organized better than almost anyone. We know they're in the business of doing that. But when we're bringing a lot of people together, we know the risks come up. My major concern comes with the rides that put people into slipstream. I don't know enough about aerodynamics and transmission on Roller coasters, but I can only imagine from being on them in the past that someone that screaming in front of you. Whatever's coming out of them as coming directly onto you in pretty intense. For a few minutes.

Antibodies that means as many as two point. Seven million New Yorkers may have already encountered the virus survived and never knew it. The State Health Commissioner acknowledged the questions about the reliability of antibody test but said. New York's test was reliable enough to determine immunity and guys that's just based on the number of residents in New York City. That's eight million residents. But you've got to remember their twelve million people who go to work there every day including all of us which really makes you wonder how big this actually is. A two point seven million dollars statewide. That twenty percent was New York City but we just did UMASS. We said two point. "Testing a key part of the state strategy in dealing with a pandemic here's WBZ-TV's Christina Hager in Worcester I want to make sure minimize contamination vials lined up machines coming to find out who has the virus that's causing our historic pandemic so we do the testing here for all of our patients that come through the emergency room we got an exclusive look inside UMass memorial medical center's corona virus testing lab running two and a half thousand samples this week alone collected at places like this headquartered in Chattanooga where patients sent by a health care provider get a swab through the nose while sitting in the driver's seat patients that you know are experiencing respiratory challenges they have fever they have cough we followed one sample from the drive through rapid testing right across the street within minutes after it's all in there I just ten seconds it eventually showed up negative but they didn't take that for an answer rapid negatives go here for even more sensitive testing at the make shift hi tech lab that went up in just ten days because workers on the front lines fast they were literally begging for a faster turnaround time and that was at that point where we made a decision on lap to take the stock room that we had quickly pull everything out of it clean it out and retrofit it back in to a lab space and it doesn't end here after patients are notified of the results healthcare workers contact everyone to follow up a record symptoms and make sure they're isolating experts say that's the key to preventing the spread

"And as soon as I mentioned, Dolan Farrar was out, got to got to get courtside seats though. Gotta get out Jerry seats. Okay, Jerry's. Jerry look, Jerry's big in the organization. He's, he has. Drake as the Drake role. I, I think quietly, I mean, you can't really be bike is spike is the guy over there. Jerry runs, they're like video game league. He's the manager of the video game league. He kicked out of the on the payrolls. Join doing the neighborhood, but said Cedric the entertainer, the best man. It's like a real old school. I mean you it's an old school multiple, which is really nice. And I think like not not a lot of them exist anymore in front of studio audience studio audience. It's not really a joke based comedy. It's really situational and there's like they, the writer, Jim Reynolds, who created the show, has really allowed it to have these real moments. And we are there isn't necessarily a joke the end. They don't let the audience off the hook and you get to really know these characters and it's been so much fun. Yeah. And what's been like with Cedric the entertainer out. I mean, he goes way back here in Los Angeles. He knows everybody, and yet he really is like he really is a legend and just knows everybody and and has so many people. Like Ray Lewis came by the set the other day. There's all these like people that just will roll through Railleuse yet Ray came through it was really cool. He's a big dude. He is bigger than you think, right. Could you imagine him and pads come into anger, downhill at you got an enormous head. I never really. I had a buddy of mine who played middle linebacker UMass and he was, and he said that the scout he's scouts came to NFL scouts came out to him. I said, let me look your hands and he was like, and he showed him his hands and I go on, oh, you're like seventy pounds more than you should be. And he was like, I at the time I was like beefed up just by looking at his hands because they could see that his hands were disproportionate to the rest of his body. And then you see some of these guys like Ray Lewis. And I remember I met Lance Briggs and you're like, these guys are freight trains the wheels fit on the train. If the, you know, we were talking about this the other day about Earl Aker when you meet or lacquer, he is way taller than you think he is mcginest willy movie or locker store this. This is now the floor is yours. This many, many years ago, this is when it was bald? Yes. Oh, totally house. He he was young bear. Okay. We were doing and celebrity in this went instinct was still a group. I was like on the other way they, they still are grouped I guess we were on. But this before Timberlake went solo. So we were in Chicago. They invited me and I was Veronica Mars at the time and they invited me out to do some instinct basketball game and in Chicago. So Erlich was playing in the game, and you could tell once it's sort of like once they, they tipped the ball. This guy like just doesn't know how to go half speed. And there was some drummer from some band, like some poppy, you know, tar band got in the way he was going for a loose ball and her locker thought got chance of this. This guy mowed down this poor drummer from whatever and Arnold tap in a way that was every like teen girl who is sitting there going, oh, my never seeing them play. Basketball was like horror. And you could see Earl or locker got the ball like knocked back in bounds. And you could see like it was just there wasn't any sort of recognition that I just murdered a popstar side of war. Well, it's ways in the hall of fame max one speed. It was really cool to see. Well, it's been cool hanging with you here. I am greenfield on Twitter. Check out the neighborhood. Min max, greenfield Cedric the entertainer and and more Mondays on CBS at eight eastern time, comeback. Good luck to you and your fantasy football season from here on out..
