TSM Can't Use FTX In Name

"This month. TSM team Solomid signed a naming-rights deal with cryptocurrency exchange ft x worth 210 million dollars over ten years to be known as TSM. Ft x. That branding however is under siege as Esports leagues around the industry are blocking or will be blocking the FTX portion of tsm's, new name siding that it breaks part of their sponsorship and partnership rules for their leagues. Riot games, notably page has blocked the FTX in League of Legends and Valor and titles but now Rainbow Six Siege mid broadcast after a pause there, player tags switched from TSM, FTX to Simply TSM Ubisoft home, the sole discretion for what sponsorships are allowed and currently it's not clear. Whether ft x will be allowed to be used in the TSM name for CDs games for a 210 million dollar deal. It's not really paying off. Dancing games like ft x had hoped for

"Well elden ring was originally revealed. Eighty three twenty nineteen but since then from software has been very tight lipped about the whole project. You know we knew it was going to be a collaboration between hit tack on me. Zaki and george are martin going to be the largest came from from software. They attack oh today but we knew little elves leading to a drought of information with some wondering if the game even existed at well. That doubt has been removed. Because elden ring now is a trailer anna release date and is not too far away at all with the long waited trailer for elder ring showing off at the summer games. I two thousand twenty one. Which jeff keely almost willing up when introducing it his great to say because he's really passionate about what he does and also this is likely to be one of the biggest triumphs the season so he was visibly chuffed again to announce his abandoned. I'm co is publishing. The game nate do presentation of their own during eighty three twenty twenty one so we could see even more details. Watch this space about that one. I will let you know if we hear anything else but banned co did release more details post trailer and here are a few things that we learned about elgin ring. This is apparently from softwares. Biggest game tonight perhaps highlighted with the horses. We something new to from software games and now the games we've always walked around on for however this time we got hoarse and looks like we can fight on horseback as well as jump super far in the sky as one of the most memorable moment for in the trial is seeing that whole sleep vertically at speed on a jumping pattern given we got horses feels like the land we traverse could be really big indeed something on the scale of the which you three or the ghost of tsushima so from software games tend to feel like open world games but this is a little bit of game they've trickery with smaller zones connected via loading areas or in the case of demon they've got a hub world l. d. ring is much more of an open world fielder things test can be really exciting to understand how this is gonna plant now happen done really well and so badly two of the last few years. I'm really interested to see how from software tackles this

Ubisoft Reveals Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora With New Trailer at E3

"Avatar is coming out. Its avatar frontiers of pandora. That's going to launch in twenty twenty two the bone to pick with this trailer. Well you know. It's a standard. We're not gonna show you any gameplay. Trailer is the dramatic way that they go ahead and do things on these first. Looks like we saw a battlefield. Twenty forty two last week they show you zero game play but they show you what the game could be like going forward so it. It essentially relives the the original movie. What's that about it. And i know again. I've never been a big fan of avatar. I know it as rob mccallum. Our good friend said it lost its cultural footprint for a while. But you know there's still a fascination in certain parts of the world it has regained the top spot. All-time sniff sniff of interest in game. Sorry but i want to hear your thoughts on avatar frontiers upendra my friend so the trailer makes it look like the game could be really good but there have been avatar video games out before and they've been monumentally awful. So how many times have we seen these three. I don't. I don't take much stock into these cinematic trailers that they show up. That shows zero game plan. I don't take any stock on anymore. The and that's the deceiving part to. Yeah you know that kind of upset me with tiny tina's game two right. They didn't show many gameplay footage of stuff so again battlefield. Twenty forty two. I mean they're gonna show for that this weekend a few days here back. We'll probably cover it here on one of our shows but still it's it's it's i'm not a big fan of i just dive because they really absolutely shove it wowed me ten years ago two thousand or maybe two thousand seventeen thousand eight when they did that stuff out of it. Looks like it could be cool depending on what it is but i just. I don't see anything video game. Wise with the avatar franchise just has not had a history of success or even anything mine minorly resembling success. I don't i don't see this i don't see this being something. That kind of leaves a footprint anywhere.

"According to the wall street journal. Discord is ending talks to sell itself to microsoft or any other company at this time in march. There were rumors that microsoft was attempting to buy the gaming chat firm for about ten billion bloomberg says discord reportedly rejected a twelve billion dollar offer from microsoft according to the publication sources. That are close to the matter. No surprise that these talks broke down in the context of recent gaming. Ipo's discord surely new worth a lot more than twelve billion dollars. It was my view that if microsoft got discord for ten billion or twelve billion it would go down as one of the best acquisitions of all time for them. I suspect dischord. We'll go the ipo route and likely command a twenty billion dollar plus valuation.

Anzu's Plan to Evolve In-Game Advertising with CEO Itamar Benedy

"Any of these Sports networks other properties on this episode of the E Sports Network podcast for bringing back a gasp from about a year ago wage a little more bonetti. He's the co-founder and CEO of on zoo in a more. Welcome back to the Shelf. Hey meets great to be here tomorrow is on the show back in February of 2020 where we discussed the growth of in-game advertising age people who miss that show or too many of our new listeners since then on to his a platform that makes it easier for braids to get into video game worlds and for developers to open up more potential White spaces in their games for Grants Pass. I'll do is work with Publishers like Ubisoft at lide Castle to deliver Brayden moments for major. It's like Samsung Pepsi American Eagle and many more Esports. We've seen it gave ads take Auto larger role especially patiently League of Legends open up space in summoner's Rift and it was filled by MasterCard an Alienware among other partners and just this morning as a record this on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 rocket League announced that Ford is going to take over there it gave Billboards for the upcoming which are major on zoo also had a big adults with this what the platform recently raised nine million dollars in additional capital in around Kool-Aid buyback Fetchers and hbse Ventures. There is participation by plenty more investors, of course, including Mark Merrill, one of the two founders of Riot games, this follows two other funny raises of three and five million. So in Mark Gratz of the race, first of all, what are the plans for this capital? Yeah, thank you Mitch. So as you said we raised 9 million dollars beatcraft is one of our previous investors are still leading gaming Esports v c. B c is a new VC which comes from the sport world and a lot of touchpoints around gaming and then other investors are wpp the biggest advertising group in the world, which is also like in the existing investor and Sony Innovation fund, you know, Sony is one of the biggest gaming groups in the world and the owner of PlayStation. So that's a privilege to have them on board Mark Romero the founder and chairman of road games on League of Legends. As you mentioned didn't call ins the founder and CEO of super awesome that recently got acquired by epic games and the Chicago Cubs. Yeah, the baseball team go Ventures and gainesville's and illumine Adventures. So a very crowded and exciting structure of invest investors to have on board. I'm a Cardinals fan so we'll let the dog So invested things slide, I guess but grats on all the different people who came together you mentioned before we started recording you were in the position that every founder kind of hopes. They find themselves in which is we have a few people. We have a different options for Capital so we can pick the people that make the most strategic sense for us going forward. What did you find from the mobile the different investors? What were you looking for? Especially as guiding parts of the company to push it Forward? Sure. So I mean, you know what this round was not about it was not about as fast as we could have fine as it like very very fast as what it was about bringing the best structure. Number one number two, it was about, you know to maximize shareholder value. We could raise almost double the amount but we didn't want to make sense. This is the amount of cash we need for next stage Rose and then in the future if it's a year from now or two years from now we can do another round off. For that makes sense. So we were not looking at at you know, these things it was more about we have a lot of confidence in him. Advertising is going to become a major business model for game divorce across all platforms, through PC Mobile and an important ads category four Brands media agencies and the ESPYs and and the question is how fast can that happen or more sneaking about big Brands big Publishers not easy companies to convince them to do something new. So when we meet partners that can help us to make this happen faster than wages. Are we get excited one form to partner is again investment one is a strategic partnership and they can elaborate more of some of the Partnerships we have in place and some of them is people who join our team. So that was what was guiding us and looking at the different, you know buckets of we are investors came from there is some you know, some like VCS and financial institutions. There is advertising and groups. There is game. Groups and there is a sports organizations that have a lot of touch point in going to become an important overlap in my opinion the next two years. And of course there is like with the values that we want to group represents and communicate us companies gauges as the leading investor for equal opportunity and Which choice for us an important to him and announcement to basically said if the world that was how we were looking at it that's a great place to be at

Ubisoft says they are moving away from a reliance on AAA video games

"Let's talk about ubisoft recent financial results where they revealed they're going to be moving away more alliance on aaa releases and instead look more closely at free to play games and it's back catalogue to make money. I'm gonna read over some quotes here. plans for fiscal twenty. Twenty two. which will go from this april two april or through march twenty twenty two includes three trivia a game releases so i guess we can speculate a little bit on what we think those might be But in the future you have doesn't want aaa games to the focus of its business model quote. We said for a number of years. That are normal template is to come with either three or four aaa games. So we'll stick to that plan for fiscal twenty twenty two twenty twenty two but we see that. We are progressively continuously moving from a model. That used to be only focused on aaa releases to a model or you have a combination of strong releases from aaa and strong back catalogue dynamics but also complementing our program of new releases with three to play and other premium experiences you wanted to specify the company had a number of aaa titles in the pipeline otherwise like six ramos quarantine skull and bones. They actually mentioned skull and bones as republic. The prince of persia says the time remake and roller champions. No mention of yongan evil to on the call. There was not a single mention of their battle. Royale higher scape. Finally you besides financial indicate. The games like mario puts reds far. Cry five the crew to anno eighteen hundred older. Just dance games and assess discreet. Odyssey are still doing meaningful numbers. How rock band still makes a lot of money. Ubisoft Is Developing A Massive Open-World ‘Star Wars’ Video Game

"Open world star was game is in development. Not at electron arts sits in development at. Ub soft it's from the division developer yousof massive. No indication has been given us u whether it would be single player or multiplayer. Or what part of the star was timeline or win and might be released but Ub eve chemo says quote on. It's an original stores adventure. That is different from anything that has been done before. Sam what do you make of that. It can't be two stories. you can't be star. Wars chess masters tarazi yummy. Oh it's none of those things. If you just eliminate all the way star wars has manifested itself. You can figure out what this game is because it's not any of those cannon whatever it is going to be cannon with with just films and everything everything our young everything hanan. I think this is such cool news. the division is not necessarily my cup of tea but like big aaa studio. That's really really well. Resourced and capable of of of doing star wars justice undeniably so Yeah i'm really really excited. We also dug into some of the jobless things because obviously now the the word is out there like our star wars project and they're able to be a little bit more descriptive there. Nothing to revelatory words like open world action adventure linear and lawn on linear storytelling. An rpg style progression were thrown around. So it's a video game folks you heard for as many star wars games as we've gotten. Yeah it's been a million where you know this this little trailer montage. That's running a showing several of them. We haven't really ever gotten a big aaa open world star wars game. There has been role playing games. And you know jet. I fallen order is. I don't know what you would call that wide. Probably i would. I would think on the positive side. This is just yet i fall. And were because it's a bunch of open areas and ed fine with me but i want i want like i want like sky rim levels of open like our fallout lending open area. Yeah i want like actual open world star wars game. Where like that's this weird hole in the in all the star wars games we've gotten in the past if it was that that that could work well but what worries me is seeing the division footage and thinking about the avengers and like you know we did our lessons being learned about what You know open world games are when they are also games a service or are thus not being learned about that and people really like the division say anthems that the thing that scares me as much as a jazz. Yeah that's a that's a very real you know. I'd like star wars as much as the next nerd. But the franchise assertive written into a corner because there are no jet. I in modern star wars so unless they go back in time to old republic all any player ever want to do is run around as a djeddai but the fiction of every single star. Wars game has to itself for why you know. I'm not a jet. I but i'm using a lightsaber or Or calcutta's in jeddah. Fallen order is a jet. I'd here's why you know. No one knows about him like i. It's this big stumbling block. That like every star wars game has to overcome so but even if you are jet. I like you can't be getting a new lightsaber and equipping new loot and being on this loop dried. Really like he got different different robes. Sure where they can make that work. that's horrible. I think that's why a builder public works of the time when there were there were a lot of it is. I'm definitely a fan of a lot of ubisoft. Open world games. A lot of the Is far cries but Yeah just to echo what you're saying. The divisions are really my cup of tea. Either a shared world sort of lewd or shooters not really what. I what i'm into. So i don't know i don't know what to make of this Tina i know you like a lot of assassins creeds. Obviously like open games shema. What what's your take on this. I didn't play of division one. I did actually like the vision to i think there are. Rpg elements that make sense and like you know really big dense world to go around and do different activities in could could be a really good fit to so. I have confidence that us off. Nasa is a great choice in general Breaking out of. Ea exclusively is a good thing for them if felt like felt like ea developing those games Was a bit of practice for what is now known as lucasfilm games. And now they get to branch out and pick like a clipper per the type of game that they're going for so that they don't feel necessarily like hamstring into Squeezed into one publisher particularly. So it's like they got a little bit confidence with the successive jet iphone. Order and star wars squadrons and a couple advancements the battlefront two. So they've figured out a formula that could work and now they get to poach essential essentially developers from different talents to figure out what else they're gonna do in this increasingly dense cannon star wars world.

Lucasfilm and Ubisoft Announce Open-World STAR WARS Game

"Well you might also want be ubisoft. Who announced wednesday that it. Swedish massive studio is collaborating with lucasville game. Lucasfilm games on an original story game set in the star wars universe. The game will use the snowdrop engine. Also used in tom. Clancy's the division electronic has exclusively deal for star wars games that expires in two thousand twenty three but he says it will continue to develop star wars games. Non-exclusive lucasfilm games also announced tuesday that an indiana jones game is in development with machine games. Scott i have a hunch. You're excited about the very excited about this as a as the gaming community i'll be there spokesman for the moment It's exciting stuff. Machine games known for their work on the wolfenstein Recent games those are excellent. first person shooters. This doesn't indicate whether that indiana jones game would be first person or not but back to the open world star wars stuff. There's been a little bit of stagnation with star wars licensed stuff since disney got a hold of all the licenses they stop their own internal studios disney's interactive went away And they moved everything to a or they may deals with the a for most of their exclusive licensing to star wars games that a couple hits in there a couple of big bombs some very controversial stuff with battlefront and microtransactions. And and that sort of thing Was at the forefront of that mess. So it's been kind of an ugly period or than just period and what it sounds like. Now they're they're basically saying all right. Look we've got we've got the lucas games. Banner back it's here and that is a lot of cachet a lot of history behind it Even outside of star wars related stuff. And we've got to be soft. Who makes really great. Maybe some of the industry's best open world games. They're open world style is very well known and respected And the division to not not that kind of open world game There's real prowess to that. And i think that that's the right team And given that when all the other resources they will be soft they should be able to make a really killer open world game. Which is my favorite kind of game. So i'm beyond excited about an open world star wars game made by a big city like this and it's nice to see him spread it around a little bit. Not be so exclusive exclusively. Ea

"He was also said to have conducted business meetings in places like strip clubs which i think we can all agree on is not an appropriate place to do business unless of course you work at or with that club in some way then shore okay but it's certainly created a hostile work environment for a lot of people at the company. Several women alleged that ask away had acted inappropriately with them or with colleagues of theirs and that he made inappropriate comments sometimes worse and he allowed for an extremely sexist work environment. There were claims that it wasn't unusual to see pornographic images or videos on computers within his department and that this was essentially overlooked or perhaps maybe even encouraged like you know a a fraternity like the stereotypical fraternity at a party college and it was not as i said a good look under intense pressure. Ubisoft responded by getting rid of many of those leaders who came under those allegations. Some of them resigned being told to do that by the company essentially. Some of them were fired. There are questions about whether or not eve. Gil mall knew about these problems within the company. I mean he is ceo after all at least a few reporters have suggested that it would be unusual for him not to have known because some of these complaints stretch back more than a decade now among those at ubisoft. Who left were off is mayo the create director for assassin's creed valhalla. He left after several sexual harassment. Hr and sarraj ask away himself. Left the company on top of these michelle on sell the creator of raymond and beyond good and evil would also leave. Ubisoft on sell came under fire for alleged toxic leadership behaviors. Now as far as i can tell these did not seem to extend to sexual harassment problems but that he did create a hostile work environment and was reportedly very difficult to work with now. According to the complaints he would change the requirements of games and throw development chaos and some employees said that he could be really abusive on sell for his part. Denies these allegations. He says they're not accurate. And he would go on to retire from the games industry including his own studio that he had founded and go to work on a wildlife sanctuary and he continues to dispute the claims that had been made against him since all the complaints. Ubisoft executive leadership have made some big changes at the company. They created some new positions to oversee workplace culture worldwide. And they created another one that will be in charge of leading initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion within the company they also announced that bonuses for team leaders are going to be tied to creating positive work environments meanwhile the company continues to conduct internal investigations as it tries to assure shareholders. There is a single player campaign as well and the online multiplayer has seasons of faction wars and during the faction war during a season the across all playable platforms of this game determined which factions have control of different territories on the world map which is kind of a neat idea and there were some technical issues with this game but to really like if someone left a match earlier crash a whole game but it has since been patched and their dedicated service of improved its stability of. "Soft and vivendi were still jockeying for position in a battle to own the company. Ubisoft soft kept doing the two things that really it had become known for publishing video games and growing expanding the company even more so it opened up studios in the philippines and opened up one in serbia ended. Acquired a mobile game studio in france called ketchup and be soft. Did shutdown one studio and twenty sixteen. That was ubisoft casablanca in morocco They said that the way that the video games industry was moving. There was just no real place for that studio anymore. So that one got shut down but also in two thousand sixteen a former ubisoft developer named maxime 'bo-doi wrote a blog post explaining his decision to leave ubisoft. It was his quote unquote dream job now in that post. He revealed that the process of creating a game. Ubisoft was just so gargantuan that it was hard to feel that you are actually contributing anything significant and explained that ubisoft just had so many studios working on each title that development literally never stopped during the week because while it was quitting time at one studio. There'd be another studio in a different part of the world where the day was just getting started in so developers would just be picking right up where the others had been leaving off and with as many as a thousand people working on a single game. He said you just couldn't avoid but feel like you were. A little cog in a giant machine and cogs are replaceable which he said was having a big negative impact on morale and motivation. He said that if you get to a point where. Each person is specializing to such a minute degree. Because you have just so many different bodies working on this game then it take a lot of imagination. To to envision a scenario where the company replaces you because it's a very specific task that you doing so he said that that was really demotivating for a lot of people. He said that these were problems that go along with creating huge games with a huge teams and this was not necessarily specific to ubisoft itself rather as an industry problem. And the push to crank out title after title in big franchises..

"According to the company this meant that up to fifty eight million people may have had their user names their email addresses and they're encrypted passwords exposed. Now that's obviously not great but it could have been a lot worse. The fact that the passwords were at least encrypted means. They weren't immediately useful to the hackers. The hackers would i need to break that encryption to get the passwords were encrypted underneath but serves as a great reminder for all of us i. We should all choose strong passwords for the services. We use second. We should use a unique password for every single service. Because if someone manages to breach a service you use they could potentially get at your password and if you're using the same password everywhere you've just handed the keys to everything. You don't wanna do that. It can really put you at risk. Or if you're trying to be really careful and you find out your password was potentially stolen then you have to go through the hassle of changing that password for every service you use which is not super fun. The third point. I would like to remind people to do is to get a password vault program to keep all your passwords. A lot of them also have password generators built in and those will create really strong passwords on your behalf and keep track of them It takes a lot of the work l. trying to practice good security habits so quick reminder there. Ob soft stated that this security breach did not touch any systems that stored payment information so that was also a big relief. People with accounts on ubisoft services received messages that urge them to change their passwords. Since a determined hacker might actually go through the trouble to decrypt passwords if they had enough time and processing power security experts criticized ubisoft saying that it failed to be transparent about what security measures were actually in place. A few experts pointed out that while passwords may have been encrypted. There was no indication as to how ubisoft was encrypting. them and weak encryption could really be an issue. Generally the response was that it'll be solves. Approach didn't inspire confidence in a more recent hack. This year seems to give a bit of credence to those concerns. Now when we come back we'll revisit the subject of hackers except this time it will be within the context of playing a hacker a video game. But first let's take.

"But they don't qualify as part of the main sequence of assassin's creed titles now is almost as if the assassin's creed franchise was like a sports game because you know every year. We expect to see a new version of specific sports franchises. Like then right and we expect to see an updated player roster to reflect the most current version of teams in various sports. But we were getting that. This fantasy scifi assassin based game series. There was a real danger of over saturating the market and burning out the player base not mention working the developers into an early grave though to be fair it wasn't like the exact group of developers were making every single game in the series. This was spread out across the global network of studios at ub soft with specific studios kind of taking point on the big titles. Ubisoft montreal was largely responsible for the main development of the main series. But this also meant that zubi. Ubisoft tried to keep up. The pace would occasionally release games that at least initially were pretty darn broken. Assassin's creed three had its historical setting. Take place during the american revolutionary war. So it actually took place in the american colonies. The game added lots of new features to the assassin's creed franchise including the ability to command a ship like a sailing ship and that would become a much larger. Pardon black flag later. Obviously because that's a that's a pirate game but it also featured a pretty long lead up to the point where anything assassinating happens. You're playing that game for a long time before you start getting into something that feels like assassins creed now. All the game got positive reviews though a lot of articles that rank the various injuries of the assassin creed series will frequently put part three in the bottom half. It's not the bottom bottom. It's not the worst of the games but it typically does not merit inclusion in the top fifty percent on a lot of lists in two thousand thirteen. Ubisoft made another pair of acquisitions. Purchasing the future games of london studio out of weld says here london the uk and also the digital chocolate studio that was in barcelona spain now. These studios focused primarily on developing games for mobile and social networking platforms. Also side note. The company digital chocolate was founded by trip hawkins nights the guy who founded electronic arts which could instantly was the company that for a while like it was on the verge of doing that hostile takeover of ubisoft but trip hawkins had left long before that and he's also the guy who was behind the failed three. Do console which i covered in our recent tech stuff series anyway. Ubisoft acquired the barcelona studio but not the overall company of digital chocolate. Hawkins had already stepped down from leadership at digital chocolate a year earlier and the company would only be in business for one more year before it sold off. Its games to another company so it didn't stick around for very long that summer. Ubisoft went public with some news. That wasn't so positive. Someone had managed to find a vulnerability and ubisoft corporate network probably through a web vulnerability and they breached ubi soft systems..

"Okay so it's two thousand eight assassin's creed has been out for a year and it's a hit far cry. Just come out and it too would be a success for the company. Meanwhile rabbits are raving all over the we and laying the groundwork for their own line of games and spin offs ubisoft would continue its bid for world domination one acquisition at a time by scooping up studios like sunflowers german game developer and high bride technologies. Which was actually better known. As a visual effects studio that created effects for movie and television projects hybrid was responsible for effects on films like the faculty and mimic and battlefield earth though they also worked on sin city three hundred and the movie that was better as a mean than as a film snakes on a plane. Now i'm i'm poking a little fun here but the studio has done incredible work and these days you'll see results of their efforts and stuff like the house with a clock in its walls which actually has a connection to my family. But that's another story. The watchman tv series which was legit amazing and the mandalorian series among numerous other famous projects. Now at first glance a video game company purchasing via affects studio for film and television really seems a bit odd but the general messaging was that hybrid would continue to operate as a traditional the effects studio which it has and ubisoft and hybrid would be able to share technologies between the two that had been developed for either video games or via fax and then repurpose those tools for the other industry whenever it made sense to do so which is kind of a cool concept. Ubisoft would also acquire a game studio in india. That had previously belonged to game loft. Now those of you who have been paying attention in this series no that game lofts founder was michel gill mall the brother to eve gilman. Who the ceo of ubisoft still is and. I guess this is where i mentioned that. While researching these episodes i came across a couple of instances in which ub softwood acquire assets from another company that had been founded by one of the gill brothers. With this example. It was just game. Lofts indian studio. It wasn't the rest of game loftus. Just that one studio the rest of game left remained untouched for the time being anyway. But we'll get to that. That being said i find the instances where a big publicly traded company one that trade on the stock market founded by a group of brothers then acquiring assets from smaller companies. That were also founded by at least one of those brothers. that's a little. let's call it. Unorthodox can put it kindly. In addition ubisoft acquired a couple of other studios one.

"Of that console generation. Clearly ubisoft montreal wasn't hurt by the fact that half of their starting employees had little to no experience in video game development. The team learned quickly and they were turning out some real bangor's for games. The prince of persia game made use of a game. Engine that ubisoft developed for a totally different project. One that was held by michelle on. Sell the guy who created raymond after working on numerous raymond sequels on wanted to tackle something totally different and that something would be a project called beyond good and evil a game in which the player controls a young woman as she tries to uncover a conspiracy in a science fiction setting. The game had a long and troubled development process back at ubisoft. Hq in france and included a nearly complete rewrite and it would ultimately debuted to lackluster sales. But it got really good reviews. The game was released on the then current generation of video game consoles which were the playstation two and the xbox and the nintendo gamecube and also it came for windows much later on it would also come to the xbox three sixty than the ps three overtime the reputation for the game would lead to better sales figures but at first at least it appeared to be a serious misstep. In retrospect many at ubisoft said that the failure largely rested on the company's marketing for the game. And we're going to conclude this part of our story with ubisoft. Two words officially becoming ubisoft one word and that happened on september ninth. Two thousand three The company also would replace its logo. Originally its logo had been a large maroon pinkish. Ub i with the word soft written in white script on top of ub. I it had gone through a few other permutations of logos in the following years but in two thousand and three. We finally got the more familiar. Swirl logo which would remain the official logo for more than a decade It changed again in two thousand seventeen. But we'll get to that so in our next episode. We'll continue the story of ups and talk about how some sharks in the games industry started to circle the studio justice. It was really taking off on the global stage but that will have to wait until next time. If you have suggestions for topics. I should tackle in future episodes of tech stuff. "Franchises. That were a better fit for the american developers. One big change was that. Tom clancy left the company though he would still licenses properties to red storm which was a good thing as games inspired by his work would prove to be some of the biggest successes for ubisoft during this part of the company's history so now ubisoft soft had access to licensed material from tom. Clancy it'd be soft montreal had talent and assets from the recently closed new york office at some point. The puzzle pieces clicked into place and do be sought montreal. Got to work on a tom. clancy game. In which an operative would complete missions using stealth and special equipment to navigate levels while trying to avoid detection. Most of the technology from the drift would come into play in this game. In addition the team had a directive from ubisoft. Hq they needed to make a game. They could go toe to toe. With the playstation nami game metal gear solid two out of the legendary video game developer hideo kojima. And that is how tom. Clancy's splinter cell was born as a convergence of technologies and opportunities. Which i think is pretty cool. It was an xbox exclusive and it helped to establish the console's legitimacy as well as the company's place in the north american video game market and it would set off a chain of events that would push ubisoft montreal studio on a path to tackle increasingly ambitious games. There was a lot going on around this time in two thousand one. While the montreal team was hard at work finishing splinter cell ubisoft acquired the entertainment division from the learning company which in turn had properties from earlier game companies like strategic simulations and mattel interactive as among others. In fact i think this acquisition is what confused some of the editors on wikipedia who put together that list. I had mentioned earlier. One of the games that was mistakenly included on that list was the original pool of radiance game. That's an advanced dungeons and dragons. Licensed game that was published under the developer strategic simulations inc in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight..

"So about that ubisoft montreal office. Ubisoft was looking to expand into north america and office in montreal. Would work well as montreal is a french. Speaking city though the dialects of quebec and france are very different. In addition montreal was looking to create incentives to attract tech companies to open offices in the city having struggled as other industries like textiles. Were starting to flounder. After some negotiations ubi soft was able to get a pretty sweet deal to establish a studio in montreal when it opened in one thousand nine hundred ninety seven about half of the fifty employees of the studio actually originally came from the parisian office of soft the other half were locals and according to later interviews most of them had no clue how to develop software or at the very least video games they are being brought in as kind of blank slates learning on the job how to make games. The studio initially focused at least primarily on licensed titles so in other words the games coming out of ubisoft montreal were mostly gains based off of existing. Ip from other companies like dc comics or disney sometime around then. Ubisoft also established a development office in new york. Ny can't get a whole lot of information about the specifics around this but they did have an office of developers in new york city at one point one of the projects that that team was a concept called the drift now. The drift never made it as a full game but elements of the draft would become really important in later. Ubisoft games for example the drift had a modular weapon that could do all sorts of stuff like be used as a grappling hook. It also had stealth mechanics and surveillance cameras that you could deploy within the game. And i'd crowd. Ai behaviors that make crowds of non player characters. React to you depending on your own behavior so if you pulled out a weapon for example in a public space. The crowd would react to that or if you're running through a crowd. The crowd would react to that. The new york team tried to kind of pull all this together to make a cohesive game but while the individual ideas were good ones. No real game emerged from the collection of ideas. There was a last ditch effort to pitch this concept as the basis for a james bond style game like an actual licensed james bond game but that ultimately went nowhere so then ubisoft headquarters would decide to close down the new york office with many of that development team moving to montreal to join that team there and the drift would be put on ice for the time being in nineteen ninety nine. Michelle gilman would found a video. Game publisher this one called game loft rather than a competitor tubi soft game loft had another market in mind. The internet was in a boom face. Keep in mind. This is getting toward the peak of the dot com bubble and the main focus for game loft was for web based content and then later on for mobile games. Game loft licensed..

"There may not know a whole lot about that console because it didn't have a particularly illustrious or long lifespan. it launched i in north america in nineteen ninety-three and within just three years atari would discontinue the system. The jaguar was a cartridge based console though atari would try to extend the life of the flailing system later by releasing a cd. Rom add on but that means that any game for the system had to be hard coded onto a circuit board. That was housed inside the cartridge that you would then plug into the console if ubisoft had only ever made version of raymond for the atari jaguar. There's a really good chance that no one would even know what raymond was at this point. Be soft itself would not be the company that it is. It likely would make little to no impression due to that. Small market size of jaguar owners. But fortunately both for the company and for gamers. That's not what happened. Michelle gilman the potential of the game and had a hunch that sony's playstation console on the way but not yet on the market was going to be a huge deal so part of the work that those one hundred plus developers were doing was to create a version of raymond for the playstation. That would be ready to go as soon as the console was hitting store shelves. The prevailing feeling was that to compete globally in the platform game market especially to go up against established japanese video game companies. They would need to tined the launch to a console launch. They need to tie it to that. Otherwise raymond would likely get left behind by the numerous games coming out of other places like japan and it totally worked when raymond shipped there. Were only nine games available on the playstation as eve gil mall would wryly observe customers. Didn't have much choice but to try this one. The company would also publish the title for other systems. Like the sega saturn for. Pc's of this was at the tail. End of the ms dos days. Just before windows would really take over and then much later on for more recent platforms like iowa and android but obviously those came much much later. The game was a big success in europe though met with a more modest reception in the united states in one thousand nine hundred ninety five. Same year raymond debuted. "As you age. Talk about d z as a 1 e sport organization. That's a little bit unique in the E Sports World. You're going to see most teams have a few different squads under their roster, but these like off going to focus entirely on Rainbow Six and we're going to become the top-ranked rainbow 16 in North America and it's a A strategy that's worked out pretty well for them. At least thus far but from a partnership perspective. How does that change your role? When you compete in one team when you're entirely tied to the Rainbow Six brand to Ubisoft, you know as would you're searching out Partnerships. How does that affect it as you just have the one team to base everything around? Yeah. First of all great. Great question. Of course, I'm in my I'm in my first few weeks. I'm still absorbing. I think it's important to note that you know, I'm still taking everything in understanding where we're positioned. Um, I'm not really getting to know the big players at different pedigrees and different tiers within Esports. And I'm under you know, I'm fully aware of our Boutique organization right now. And and how do we position that but I think this is what's really important. Is that right now, we're we're going to start laying the foundation for doing sponsorship and and Partnerships in Esports correctly and in a way that brands are used to and an Innovative way, but also in a way that brings your used to change that as we enter new scenes cuz we we absolutely are going to enter new scenes and and evaluate a quiz like, you know, acquiring and and I believe I believe Thursday for like starting those relationships now with branch that we can have founding partners that build with us so that we could actually integrate them from day one not try to build something and then see who fits into wage rather build something in lockstep with some of these Brands and and find some core founding Partners as we enter new scenes will enter together. They'll be a part of those conversations and and this way they're dead we put ourselves in a position to work in in a way that's more collaborative more integrated than we've ever seen in any sports or even in traditional Sports in the past. So that's what I'm excited to do with easy. It's a great answer. There's some really dead. Eat figs you could do a t Sports as it develops of as it grows. That is a little bit different than the traditional. Okay. I'm going to look for a sponsorship like you might see with you know, the New York Knicks. It's like okay, we could find some unique sponsorships, but generally people know what they're getting into it the mix and with dark0 you have a little bit more ability to be flexible to grow together with that being said wage based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I know that dark0 cares a lot about being part of this community being part of this even though e Sports is a global phenomenon Las Vegas is one of the most unique cities in all of America. You've got Major Brands like MGM Resorts that you worked for major sports books Global Entertainment Properties, massive events concerts sporting events. What are some of the opportunities you're looking for specifically in Vegas to help tie dark0 to the city. Love it. Yeah, you got some good ones here so long Las Vegas is the global Capital Sports entertainment people from all over the world know that if you want to have a good time get entertained push the envelope and be wowed Las Vegas is the place for that Esports is a global Sports entertainment platform that people all of our all around the world participate in in in global Brands participate. And and so I thought what what better place to stay up the flag in Esports it's and bring teams organizations. Leagues and brands from all over the the industry and all over the world to Los Vegas to participate in some, you know Monumental like, you know staple events yearly annually where we partner with some of the biggest venues in a midsummer when you see on the ship whether that's hyperx Arena whether that's the new Resorts World Casino, that's that's being built here across from the win MGM Resorts, of course where I come from the many properties there. I was off work closely with a lot of that that team there to start looking into Esports and how we were going to collaborate with with different organizations input on some of that. So I think putting together some amazing events where we invite some big teams and big organizations to compete on the Strip under the lights with some fans with some crowds attracts people from all over. I think that's one of the wage Equals like we really cool here a really cool to accomplish here. And I think that it starts with those relationships on the strip and they're in our backyard. So I'm looking forward to starting this conversations. Definitely you obviously have some connections to some of those properties as well as will be a really cool to see how you can tie that in Vegas and Esports of sort of danced around each other for quite a long time. There's been some some events held you have the Allied e Sports Arena like you measure the hyperx Esports Arena, which is this massive building on the Strip, but I feel like we haven't seen the complete dive in of the city to e-sports in a way that's going to really show the the events that are going to be know for for a long time. I guess Evo's here for a long time. But that was the flagship Vegas Esports of it, but it really feels like there is a big opportunity for Vegas to be the Ford Theatre. It's been on so many other things and bringing Sports into the fold and creates a really unique sports events. That really wouldn't be possible anywhere else. I couldn't agree more and I think that listen these things take time. Sometimes it's educating the different properties educating educating folks, but I think that you know, God Mention Evo in this other events that we could start to mold off of but there if we'd be we'd be crazy to say that there are Monster, you know Monumental a huge sports events that people will look back on for years that are not going to that aren't going to occur right here in Las Vegas.

"Week we're going to be talking about where I'm going to be talking about. I'm the only one here is cyberpunk 2077 Ubisoft hyperx MSI ever media's new webcam have got those new virtual webcam. Basically through an app will get into that home video course are as well or course, you know got those going to be the same thing. And then the biggest thing would be talking about is the big navvy announcement to actually happen this week and looks very interesting in the GPU market right now, but let's get on with the show. So first off we have that no man's sky is actually going to have next gen performance on everything off. Means PC Xbox series ex and the PS5 as well. So you're going to get that type of experience as which is based going to be 4K in time frames per second obviously in PC if you can unlock the frame rates, you can actually do it for more but right now graphics cards are getting there where it can actually do quite a bit of frame rates per second in 4k, but not quite yet. I think a few Generations will be able to see like the probability or at least Uncapped or way over a hundred frames per second in 4k in video games, but it's going to be a few generations for that one as well as technology gets better. The graphic Fidelity gets back plus with different types of features helping with that process. It just makes it for an all better experience in gaming in general. So look out for that and annulments guys. I actually do recommend. No man skies. I think it's actually really great right now. I think what they've done over the three or four years of since it's been out his make a really great game, even though when it came out it was not that good. But now it's actually really really good. So look out for it now moving on to Ubisoft and the rebranding of the digital distribution site plus their subscription is being rebranded as well. It's going to be we saw connect and it will be soft plus so they're basically getting rid of any type of creative title for just an ordinary title in general. Now the subscription service will be on stadia and Amazon's Luma which is basically their version of cloud gaming because cloud gaming is going to be the biggest thing moving forward right now. We have Xbox we have Amazon coming out soon. We have study we have In with the Geo Force now just to name a few it's going to be interesting. I think Google's going to lose this battle, but they sure are going to try to not lose this battle whatsoever. But they're just not really a gaming company don't really understand that much about it in general but it's interesting to see where it's going in the next five to ten years. Now speaking of free games. There's a few free games. You need to look out for first of all, the epic game store does have the Blair Witch Project Free or Blair Witch as it is the Blair Witch video game. It's free until November 5th 8 a.m. Plus Ghostbusters the video game remastered same time. It's going to be available until it's free, which is November 5th at 8 a.m. So go pick it up if you may well want some free games. Might as well just pick it up anyways, but speaking of free games. There's also the elite dangerous Horizon is free for all players. So if you have the dog, Game go pick it up for free. It's a nice addition where you can actually land on planets. Now. The new edition is coming out where you can get out of your spaceship and that should be interesting as well because it's actually I'm eventually going to be competing with Star Citizen and Star Citizen isn't even out yet, which is another interesting tidbit to know that star system is still in development and will be in development hell for a very long time until they feel it's right to release it whenever that actually is but should be interesting to see when they actually released it if they're going to release it or if they're just going to have them we're basically as it is right now the movie on to cyberpunk 2077. It seems like it's actually going to be released in 2077, which is a very long time for me to preorder a game. But anyways Jokes Aside has been delayed again until December. So Twenty One days later than the 3rd delayed release date even though it's gone gold. They're still trying to basically make it work on the consoles CD project project read said that it's ready for PC, but it's not ready for the consoles which is kind of funny to actually see because it's like well if it's ready for PC, then let the PC players play it I mean we don't care about consoles don't want to play this game on consoles. I want to play this game on PC because I prefer to play on PC in

Amazon reveals their new cloud gaming service

"Bliss. Let's jump into some news William to an like an article that was pretty big news this week it was part of a broader set of announcements that the company made. This is from which fifty dot com and the article is. Amazon Reveals Cloud Gaming Service Amazon according to the article is going to offer a Netflix's style cloud gaming subscription service named Luna with select titles in four K sixty fips It'll initially be available on PC MAC fire TV iphone. And ipad with an android version planned for after launch You know this sounds a lot like everything else were seeing. There are some differences they will like. Amazon is going to offer its own controller like stadia did but players can use a bluetooth when the keyboard or mouse or Third Party, Bluetooth? Controller. If they want and if they do by Amazon's controller, it's only fifty dollars and it connects directly to the cloud service in the same. Way Stadium. Had, promised to but didn't et release. and the introductory price for the for Luna in the US is going to be six dollars a month. The only major publisher I saw. Listed at least as part of this announcement and this article interestingly enough was Ubisoft. Who was the big launch partner for Stadia and then seems to have lost faith in stadium because they started doing work with some other like cloud gaming company? It seems they're like the cloud gaming sort of. you know the the the everything that's cloud gaming there there seems to be ubisoft their front and center in terms of the launch part. We should we should separate. Think Games publisher should be trying to get his much distribution for their games as possible and others involved. Yeah. But I presume you saw benefits financially from being the launch partner like I. I bet ub saw I bet I don't think this was a hard business decision to reach as my guests removing SOx perspective. My real question is what was the Industry Conference Paul and how did you and I? Both, miss at were they spike the water with livestream games as a surface like juice because it is like there was some conference three years ago that like Apple Amazon Microsoft you know like like everyone was like a everyone was at and they're all like they laughed like well, we have to do this right now I'll tell you what it is was no business of sports podcast three years ago. And and the day Google got on stage and said, this is the future of gaming and I called it hot garbage and I called it correctly hot garbage not enough people were listening now now hold on Amazon though brings I think something a little different to the table and hear me out here. Could you see potential integration with all of Amazon's like home stuff right? Everyone has an Alexa. Everyone has like a A. Zillions of already set Alexa was in the controller or was that a joke. That's possible I. I saw that and I like did not verify it was system a that people are making off or if that was really how they were going to differentiate the controller because it's both plausible a good idea and completely implausible and a terrible idea at the same time. I just it seems. It feels like cloud gaming now is just a check box that the big tech companies have to put a check mark next to, and there isn't a lot of thinking around how this is any different. Because if you read the Luna announcement, it reads pretty much verbatim like Google announcement except with less with less sort of fluff. So there's no promise of the future of gaming. There's no negative latency. There's no they took that stuff out but other than that. It's pretty much a copy paste well, no, it's not though and this is really important the price right because. This is six dollars a month now. Sucks that they couldn't get it to five I. Mean I'm GonNa, start there like a real psychological break point they miss their but I trust Amazon is run their math, what this cost rate, and probably there's a certain amount of server space that this takes up but like. I think the offering is different at this price right because I think it's and I. Think this gets a little bit more at what stadium could have been. Right it's much more affordable. My understanding is it's not this rent to own model. It's just a straight up flat subscription. You've got the game streamed. Great Booby soft is a good launch partner for this because they would have what I would call a lot of mass appeal games like the assassin's creed games, for example, which I think translate well to this sort of thing of show me where there's no copy paste the William. To cut you off. But like this, all the assassins creed was in the launch stuff for stadia to. Yeah I think it was a decent partner there to the difference as the argument for the stadium launch was. Pay Sixty dollars to buy a game. You probably already have right and it's a worse version because it's laggy livestream on a concert. This argument is, Hey, you already have Amazon services you maybe you're curious to checkout watchdogs pay six bucks a month to try it out, and there's some other stuff here till and I think at that pricing, it also goes much more mass marquette I think somebody who isn't going to shell out sixty. For is willing to shell out I guarantee there's going to be price promotions. I title fray and Amazon is very good at that stuff to drive adoption. This is starting to be something like I could see you know forty five year old Atari Gamers who dropped out looking at and being like, yeah, those do look pretty cool. Being an assassin in Greece I'd like I this is this is a really big thing I believe is like. Inaccessibility driven offerings. Price is everything. The appeal of stadium was accessability driven without an accessible price which totally gated off making great games available cheaply, and without a fixed cost could that work as a second model? Yes and could it work as a longer term lease of life on yes? So like I do I think this is the greatest thing ever to happen in livestream subscription gaming. No that is xbox's game pass right like one hundred percent but could this work and could this grow into something else overtime

"If you I think if you are doing any of it through steam at all, and they're getting a cut if you live from in game doing an anti going to go through steam because that's still goes through your steam payment stuff doesn't get the end of the day goes through the associated payment instrument with Ubisoft. Okay. Yeah. So that stuff that transaction probably still slow through Steve's theme of launched it that way because that content is probably managed through steam or my account booze. We'll both. So you're getting a I think what generally happens when you buy a Ubisoft game on steam is it is generating a product key than also gets tied to your you play account. So what Ubisoft would actually really love for you to do for that point on is to stop watching the game through steam and start launching it through your you play account purer and make your purchase there. Because then they're not cutting in steam on that stuff, which I assume you can do like, you said like you, and I don't think I have given them like payment of right once once you associate like a product key with your Ubisoft account that is available to you outside of steam, if you so choose so I wonder if that counts in the unit in the fifty million if it is like, you know, I bought seeds, but I've also given them an extra hundred dollars because I. So all does all that just says revenue, it doesn't okay? Distinguish between unit. Sales of games that The the case case. it actually set flat out says revenue includes game packages deal sea in game sales and community marketplace game. So I think that expands the market based. Yeah. Okay. I think that expands the net a bit in terms of who is benefit because there are smaller games that are just making a lot of money along tail on purchases in game. Yeah. But I'm trying to think of like, I bet rocket league is gotten up there. Yeah. Sure. Sure. I don't know. I have noted with it..

"About this i would look up the way point podcast where they talk about the ubisoft press conference because they go way deep is getting all of my information from but they're talking like as a freelancer it can this spec work is not always great because you don't get any kind of percentage based on like the prophets the game would be making and this would be considered spec work and how is that gonna come into place so this is definitely a real interesting thing like someone at ubisoft is going to be looking at tons of people are going to be looking at like how successful is this when going forward okays having this much user creation so what i had heard is that they only pay people for their product that they do use does that mean people that have submitted and don't get chosen just like gave their intellectual property in time for nothing that i don't know i would assume that yeah if they're not gonna use it they're not gonna they're giving their intellectual property they're not going to be like thanks for the idea late 'cause i heard the submit it you are submitting all rates associated with it on the chance that it gets chosen which is like i haven't heard that okay i would i would assume that's not because you're that is and just from the way or how long gordon live it's been doing this it seems like if if he had been doing that from the start he wouldn't be around anymore record yeah so i couldn't imagine it being the case and also again i don't know if this whole like our script cut short is real but the fact that he did come out on twitter basically saying hey we fucked up about the messaging on the on paying creators stuff we definitely are doing that i think that at least speaks to him trying to have a level of transparency and and you know being a good person what not so i'm willing to give it the benefit of doubt i'm super curious this is like a new thing how how this goes going forward on i'm going to be watching i did get this whole conference was a mess a lot of mike's lift on for the people in the background you just heard them like chattering some spots win something was starting lated was weird this this was all thing was weird right right right but i think the best way of looking at this is because the the the lady came out the talk about beyond evil to she definitely seemed like hey this is like a passion project for us and the fans people have been asking about this for years and we want these fans who are so dedicated to this this game we want them to be a part of it the best way of looking at it and that's how she was describing it and yet the mike thing you're talking about it definitely did happen after this segment when she like walked off and she's like here we nailed it out which was kind of like endearing because it was like go you clearly care about this game like that was kind of nice to see your slash here no it's real cool i was just waiting for the one person to be just like that was fucking bullshit or something that's walk off yeah so like i said if if this whole hit records design interesting i definitely recommend looking up the ubisoft conference podcasts that way pointed because they go super in depth with their thoughts and stuff and it was it's really interesting to to hear about it this next thing i put on here because i'm interested in these weird eastwards documentary things that are coming out always so rainbow six each has one of those coming out and other than that exceeds they just had a prison come out saying that they're gonna keep going and thank you for how good it's been in blah blah blah there was no real new announcement or anything i didn't even know this thing do they already have documentaries out for other games yeah there's one focusing on some doda people when focusing on the tally the old one of the original lakeway layer bears yeah there's a bunch of them yeah next game was trials rising i was exciting so it's a new trials game and it's going to be on the way down.

"Old toys to life problem where well over to this part and i can't get into this this part of the world because i don't have forest creature it has the end of that you can beat the whole thing played access every area with just the starter pack which they're very proud of and i'm like i don't know how you guys are gonna sell any more of these toys but that's i mean maybe it's just because people wanna experience more weapons and stuff while the ships look really cool so there's that design is cool and just the depth of like you know you fly down to the planet surface and you get these cool sort of strategy dogfights with big beautiful looking enemies and then you can run off in beat other factions and set up new shops in in by stuff merchants it's it's robust video game looks like a sky landers rip off in it's not and i think it's going to be really big challenge for ubisoft to figure out how to message all that and how to get that across to consumers and maybe more importantly critics who i think are just going to not really give it the time of day i actually watched a few critics walk into the ubisoft showcase and just kind of grumbly about it and they all walked away like wow that was a lot better than i thought this is a lot better than we think so that that's what i want to highlight and then just you know it's not sexy at all but for two horizon for is gonna be like a ninety one on metacritic another it's another one of these like it's going to be the best racing game it just looks insane it looks great it's not again i would never be about that thrilled about it at three but i'm going to be thrilled about it when i'm playing it i loved four horizon three i think we all love for its horizon through such a great reason game and there's just the the seasons they've got a couple of things that aren't great or at least sound scary on paper with being sort of online so instead.

"Most importantly i don't i don't wanna go through game by game 'cause they shed a lot of stuff but most importantly assassin's creed odyssey is looks like it's going to be astounding i can't wait to play that game on that you've become an assassin's creed fan boy over the last it's because it's become more of an rpg and i'm always i've always been a huge rpg person and assassin's creed origin was basically in our pg and this is even going further with dialogue cheese and romance i mean this one has accurate plan where origins didn't really so yeah that that to me makes me most excited about it that you can are you hyped about what you saw like did you like the trailers i mean playing a woman look school dialogue options looks cool i'm totally playing cassandra oh yeah obviously i think that everybody will i saw a lot of very like thirsty responses to her on all over the spectrum on twitter which was very enjoyable men a lot of extremely attractive people in all of the soft games this year which sort of crack active pirates attractive pirates really just everybody's very good looking and ubisoft gains looks cool i like the idea like socrates coming on grilling you for this made in a game like maybe all would benefit from socrates should just appear in every there's the socrates section before the credits where he comes out sort of quizzes you over the morals of your decisions so you decided to sacrifice that purse why did you do that and you have to justify kind of a cool idea and it looks.

"To do a couple missions that i hadn't done when i jump out of his game i then also have to do those missions dad is unacceptable that's odd because other ubisoft games have it like wild lands had cross yeah yeah what other faulk greg games have the same the same where it's just like it doesn't it doesn't carry over its yeah i i'm not a fan of that but i just i dunno cry has has a particular brand of chaos and personality to it that i just i've missed it you know far cry three too far cry four it was kind of like okay far cry four is a better version of cry three but it's a lot of the same stuff but now that there's been a lot of time in between those more modern games were not going to talk about primal i just you know it was it was fun to to take airplane and cause some chaos or you know just like go on outpost and see what kind of crazy you know shenanigans i could get into and i think i think the game is is really inventive in how it approaches the story missions in that you you're dropped into the entire map and you are given freedom to do whatever you want and know mission is is a requirement outside of the core story missions for like the main kind of colt figureheads so you can really do do whatever you want and it will progress the story in its own way and i i don't know i just really enjoyed that approach and i think that the the voice acting and the writing is actually pretty good i dunno interacting with a lot of the characters was better than you see in your average game.
