"After that big sell off yesterday A little bit of a lift here today with the S&P up about four tenths of 1% looking at the bond market We have the ten year trading at 1.86% the two year over 1% 1.03% on the commodities front WTI crude oil higher yet again it's called $86 and change gold up a little bit 1825 per ounce Let's get some more color here on these equity markets pre market trading we do the bloomer markets correspondent Pretty Gupta What do you have for us today Yeah Paul let's just talk about those bank earnings because you absolutely have to look at these moves I mean yesterday you saw them really tumbling in line with what you saw from Goldman Sachs Now some good news coming out of Bank of America BAC's your ticker up 4% in the pre market After they saw loan growth return with consumers and businesses beginning to take on that debt again crucial for Bank of America's bottom line and in the same vein Morgan Stanley MS is your ticker up 4.7% This comes after their equity trading revenue tops estimates are very interestingly basic Reminded me very aggressively this morning equity trading is a huge huge deal at Morgan Stanley which is why you're seeing the stock up at a time when a lot of the investment banks are actually seeing trading revenue drop Moving on to some regional banks I shouldn't say reach I should say not the biggest Wall Street banks U.S. Bancorp USB down 3% Their earnings actually missing the average estimate So not great news when it comes to that particular bank Moving out of the financial sector let's talk about Procter & Gamble for a second PG is your ticker up 1.2% gaining after raising its sales outlook for its current fiscal year Thanks to price hikes that helped offset those higher costs So once again you're seeing inflation hit the bottom line of a lot of these consumer Staples companies but Fred not they're actually able to pass it on to the consumer Another earnings story this morning united health UNH is their ticker up 1% a huge Dow component We're not supposed to quote the Dow here Paul but I'm gonna do it anyway Please United help Why do you think that component anaconda is a Dow component UnitedHealth beating analysts highest estimate for the fourth quarter earnings and affirming is 2022 profit outlook as the U.S. health conglomerates have broad based growth across this insurance and service business So once again good news for united health and the healthcare space Paul I'm going to end here with a downgrade And then of course is Cisco Systems downgraded to neutral from a buy over at Goldman saying that the stock is approaching his price target bowels tailwinds bows headwinds therefore they are going to neutral CS COs your ticker down 2.7% in the pre market All right Bloomberg is a markets correspondent pretty good to Tom there with some numbers We got some of the investment bankers putting up some numbers They're going to get paid this year to come I think they're doing they're doing well and Paul we need some perspective from someone who understands the path of moynihan and the path of Mormon It was rocky for a while It was It was And you know I just find it extraordinary Tom The profitability and the efficiency of Wall Street during this pandemic working from home I never thought I would see it And it's not just Wall Street of course it's corporate America in general The fact that we've been able to put up this so many energy have been able to put up some really really strong numbers but let's bring in Alison Williams Tom She's the expert on all this Wall Street stuff Alison Williams is the senior bank channels from Bloomberg intelligence and she's been with us at Bloomberg intelligence Thompson's absolutely day one She may have been one of our very first hires or bedrock hire before that she was at Morgan Stanley investor management investing in bank stocks She knows what she's doing over there So Allison just give us your sense here over the past couple of days What we've seen out of Wall Street how are they doing They're doing well And I think we sort of got what investors were looking for I think for most banks in terms of revenue and the revenue outlook obviously expenses were the big surprise but I would say that Jamie Dimon gave us a signal when he said whatever it takes in October when he said whatever it takes back in June He was not kidding And so I think that was a signal to expect big spending and what he was alluding to is there's a lot of competitors out there not just investment bank competitors not just head funds but there's a broad war for talent There's a broad war for business with a lot of emerging competitors and Jaime Santos spent what it takes The industry leader and their spending a lot And so I think that took people a little off guard but we think he's doing the right thing It's hard for outside investors because we don't see exactly what they're spending on But if you look at the track record Jamie Dimon and JPMorgan they've spent they've gained share over the last several years the same throwing out a big number Bank of America the story of today they're going to keep their costs flat next year And so I think that is a relief obviously there are some concerns there And they have revenue upside from the better loan growth they're seeing from the better rate outlook So they're going to get operating leverage operating leverage is what investors focus on Is your revenue growing faster than expenses We see folks across the Bloomberg and just endless headlines Is there's no one in banking who doesn't want to be in health and wealth management Everybody wants to be in wealth management Allison why is that And what did we learn about wealth management this time around the block Well we learned that wealth management is delivering which is one reason why people want to be in it The second reason is the relatively more recurring type revenue So things like investment banking and trading obviously.

"We needed to do this needed to do that. Yeah it was a little messy but it had to happen. I was like so today. You're going twenty years ago. Were attacked by a group of terrorists and we need a moment of silence. I'm like and you just fuck and help them. Okay the twenty year war on terror. You just. I don't know. I just i can't take it. I can't take it anyway. I was gonna say so a. Unh when the semester started. Two weeks ago we had there was a mask mandate but only in classrooms. It wasn't an other indoor fleeces. Where unless lake it wasn't required or mandated But it was strongly recommended if you were in close. Contact with other people indoors except for classrooms where it was mandated in one day de we got an email two days ago and it was like cova cases are on the rise. There were forty eight out of seventeen hundred positive us. Forty eight people test positive out of seventeen hundred and cova cases are on the rise on campus and so now masks are mandated in all indoor spaces. It reminds me of food service industry where they're treating it like it's fucking echo line. If one person has it it's an outbreak which it is in a restaurant with one if one customer gets e. coli outbreak. And you have to contact everybody. That has come in contact with your restaurant for the past week. But this is what makes you know what what makes it even funnier. Is that the president of unh in has emails. Said that there's one specific like there's one residence hall out of which the most cases came but he didn't mention the resonant hall but then the unh chief of police. He's sends out an email with like instructions on weirded. Pick up more test kits them well and then in bold letters put sto call. I think it's very interesting. I'm the type of person who loves traveling right so I could envision myself going to Finland. While we were in Aruba last week. We sure were for a wedding and we had a wonderful time You saw a T shirt that you like. And then my husband sounded and bought it for him. Sonny's Tang. It's a a single, ready to flow mingle T shirt with a flamingo on it. I would go to Finland. I would be introduced to the long drink. I would love it. And I would say I'm moving to fiddling could say, Why isn't this in America? How can I get this year and that's why you need entrepreneurs and people solve problems. And because most people go up. Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to get back to Finland. But people like Kevin, that's exactly right. No, there's a way to get this over here. And you probably said something like I had a neighbor who got a Volvo from Sweden. And it was ah little bit cheaper and a better car. I'm gonna do the same thing with long drink. That's what I imagine happened in heaven. I know that you're extremely excited about the partnership with the guy best in show and the long drink. There are some other partnerships with some, maybe more prominent people than I am, including Finnish NHL hockey players. That's right. There's there's a pretty famous game up to your ass for the Bruins. So You have a new member and who's the Hollywood actor who was in that movie about drumming? Miles? Teller? I don't watch movies because I just watched Happy Gilmore over and over again. Because it's the best movie. Nothing wrong with repeating a movie that you liked, But talk on that you can happy Gilmore is what blows top gun out of the water. I don't know about that. I haven't seen it. All I saw about top gun is that there was no Adam Sandler. All I need to know. Said any chubs any movement out Adam Sandler your life like Titanic? How much better would it have been? If it was Adam Sandler instead of Leonardo DiCaprio? I think there are people who might have wished that he got on the raft. And drown a little bit sooner. If it were Adam said. I've ever seen in an organization so there's a lot of lessons learned that that compete as as you know. The Industry Trade Association can help our members with in terms of you know what's been done internally even and not to mention all the other case studies that are out there but you know even just looking at that you know the the the ice out project that. I'm working on that you mentioned earlier. The information sharing and analysis organization. We are driving that one hundred percent remotely. I'm collaborating with the. You know some people who are normally based at headquarters in the Greater Chicago area. I'm working with people that are all around the country Even the world for that matter. And we're leveraging collaboration tools and sharing information and data to to move this project ahead and and again you know that that right there is a case study and MSP's have clients that are doing this well in many cases Ms keys are doing it very well. Break the the The schedule up and and inject a little fun and levity there. A virtual poker games going between organizations. You know while while that's kind of the fun and silly side of it. My point is you can really expand the productivity of an organization with some of these tools. And we're seeing it happen and we're seeing it happen in in a more of a reactionary an uncoordinated way. Imagine the opportunity that that. Msp's have to go and help their clients. Do this thoughtfully. I think it's almost limitless. And then you know the other big thing that comes to mind of course is just the whole cyber security side of this and so you know with the ISO being near and dear to my heart. Change with all this remote working going on in all of this. You know collaboration taking place online. The cyber security situation is more important than ever. I wish we had. We had been ahead of this but nobody saw this coming as quickly as came but we are very very focused on making sure that. Msp's have the real time intelligence that they need to keep themselves in their clients safe which is going to be even more important now. Because if you've you know unless you've had your head in the sand you've seen but sadly with this pandemic crisis the rise of cybersecurity threats has just exploded around everybody's trying to take advantage and trip people with Cova nineteen scams whether it's paying for tasks that aren't real tests or extorting money or or grabbing credentials to to do identity theft.
