"A way to be able to do it. All right. Let's get to our guest It's Molly McGrath from ESPN who bruce and I both worked with Fox she was box us in time I was and and has now been ESPN for several years and. Now. All right. We're pleased to be joined. Now by ESPN's Molly McGrath she is. You see her every week get a big game on the sideline last week molly you had a game that turned into something I. Don't think any of US could have expected the Alabama ole miss shootout. So I mean that's I want hit you up on. We're going to talk about your your adventures as a sideline reporter this season, but I up how concerned should we be about Alabama's defense heading into this this big Georgia game. Honestly I think the biggest shock of the season thus far was the fact that that game wasn't a blowout you go into an Alabama ole miss game especially with Ole miss with a new head coach and there's been a lot of turnaround in that program and you know they're going to be a lot of points scored because it's all miss. But you think that Alabama is going to be dominant game. So I have some stories in my back pocket I'm getting ready to tell some feature stories about players and. In. Different directions and then right off the Bat Ole Miss Scores and it was. Something I've never really seen with Alabama is their defense was on their heels and players on the sidelines looked pretty shocked like they. You could tell they were frustrated that they weren't blowing out. Ole. Miss Because that was what was expected of them and I think the big thing that I took away from that is that tempo is a real issue for defenses in general but for Alabama's defense, they really struggled against Ole. Miss Tempo and credit to Jeff Flabby who called an incredible game for Ole Miss Their offensive coordinator I think it's really interesting. Lane Kiffin, told us the only thing that we can do because they strictly just don't have the bodies on defense to keep up with an Alabama. So he said the best thing that we can do. Is Score as many points as they do and just keep trying to score and and Jeff Libby is able to keep them at such a high pace. You know he was under our riles and he knows a big twelve offense and how fast it could be, and he calls plays really interestingly, he will call his next offense play based on where his receivers end up on the field. So his he knows his receivers we're going to end up here here and. Here and he will make sure to call his next play based on that. So players don't have to get lined up there already exactly where they need to be. So they went and extremely fast paced Alabama's players were on the sidelines You know I noticed hands on the hips. There were sucking down oxygen by the end of the game and that's something you know it's not. We see that's not out of the norm when players get oxygen but for an Alabama. That was pretty shocking. The fact that they did not have control of that game in the fact that I was interviewing lane kiffin at halftime instead of Nick Sabin. So I do think it is concerning I. Think this is a year. We'll see offenses get the best of defenses in general because. With. Corona virus with training camps cut short everything like that. Defensive fundamentals aren't exactly intact in SCC teams especially don't have a tune-up game against the citadel. So you're seeing a lot of missed tackles mistakes a lot of missed assignments. So I think this will be a theme that we see this year offense is getting the best of defenses but you know I think the Ozawa's pissed off. Nick, Saban has ever been after win so he's going to get his team ready and I think it was a good wakeup. Call for Alabama before they play the best defense in the SCC which is George volume. What's your on your on the field? You're down there you've been down there for years different venues. I'm curious what's your read on what what the energy is like in the building but also what is it like how the players are feeding off? Can you hear more BEC- even if you're not proximity wise because the crowd noise isn't the same like what is your operating structure like as you Kinda, get a read on the situation. I actually. Don't mind covering college football pandemic because these stadiums are much quieter not all of the have bands going. So I'm able to hear coaches yelling at players and players yelling at each other much easier. So in that sense. It's a added benefit, but especially in blowouts or games where teams are frustrated, it's like the air has been sucked out of the building or out of the stadium a little bit because there's just less energy to feed off of So teams have to bring their own energy and that takes mental toughness, and that's something that we talked to Nick Saban about you know in a game against. Ole. Miss where they expected to play through hurricane he needed his team to be mentally tough. He needed his team to bring their own energy and be able to outlast team that they would know what score lot AS Roma's does in I think in the first half Alabama. I was on Alabama's sideline and it was kind of dead layers were quiet and shocked and didn't really know how to respond to the fact that Ole miss was hanging in the game with them So that was an interesting thing to see and then I think probably at halftime nick. been little fire under them a little bit. I would love to have been a fly on the wall at during that halftime speech and they had a little more energy coming out of halftime and their defense full through in the end. I mean they made stops down the stretch and force field goals when they absolutely needed to But it is a big challenge for teams this year to have to bring their own energy when there aren't fans in, there's not a lot of energy in these buildings. Are. You said, you don't mind covering college football during pandemic and I think that's what we want to find out more about I. mean at a time when a lot of us are trying not to travel, you're on a plane every week and Breaking news everybody you you've got a baby coming and as a person, I have both been seen our wives go through that we can't imagine Working a game for six hours in doing you know kind of the physical strain that you're under. So what is the season been like for you so far and maybe you know what have been the biggest challenges. It's been really interesting. You know I talked to my doctor about it and I feel very safe travelling because of the precautions taken because of the fact that ESPN is testing us a constantly for the corona virus and my pregnancy has been very healthy. So I've been very fortunate in that sense where honestly it makes no real difference to me until after the game I'm entering my third trimester this week. which is crazy to say, and I definitely get weird looks as I'm putting my bag up above. The overhead Bin and I have this big pregnant belly people are like, are you? Okay why are you traveling what's going on but when it comes to game time? I get to this zone where my my base needs of. Because of the fact I'm pregnant I have to eat every couple hours to put my feet up my back hurts at back problems. But one of working all of that kind of falls away. After a force myself to eat at halftime because I know I need to for my baby but I'm not hungry You know pregnant women it's. Newsflash Pregnant Women Have To pee every thirty minutes because of the pressure in body like going to their bladder and I went six hours without going to the bathroom during the Alabama Oh miss game because I was so locked in and during a game as sideline reporter, a good sideline someone that truly gives energy to both sidelines constantly walking in a circle or running if are injuries all around the field..

USFL vs NFL - Risky Business
"Our series on the grudge match between the US F L and the NFL United States football league championship game nineteen eighty nine. We took you back to the eighties. When an upstart spring football league came along and tried to score on the NFL's turf. The USFL backed by a new set of owners, including the likes of Donald Trump attempted to change the face and feel of America's most popular sport. In the end. The USFL folded, but the league did have a lasting impact on the game. Many of its players and coaches went onto NFL stardom and rules. I initiated by the USFL like the two point conversion and the coach's challenge are now. Mike, it's a real honor and privilege to have you on business wars. Thanks so much for doing this. It's my pleasure. Hey football is I guess you could say America's favorite professional sport still is I don't think NASCAR ever superseded football. And the NFL has been called the biggest show in the country if not on earth. I mean, what do you make of the league today, especially considering the many controversies that have been surrounding it from taking a need to you know, to to hit injuries. Well in America, we used to have a monoculture when there were three or maybe four TV networks and a few evening news broadcasts, but we've gotten fractured and we've gotten away from that. And the one exception is football. So not only is it the most dominant sport. I also think that it's to a great extent. The closest thing that we have to a culture. -tural glue. If you look at the ratings of the top twenty shows, the top twenty individually aired programs in any year football will be I don't know sixteen of the top twenty or so people think the Academy Awards is right there under the Super Bowl. No. There are three to five football games before you even get to something like the Academy Awards, and maybe a big bang theory. We'll sneak in there, so. Yeah, it's now it's not like most people or even watching every game. But it's the closest thing we have to a shared experience an agreed upon experience. And I think it says something about American twenty nineteen that we can't even agree upon football. Yeah. Yeah. Well, there's something to that. I'm sure, but what about in a business sense? I mean, part of what we've been exploring is in in the course of of examining the USFL, and it's sudden rise was how the NFL was sort of a dominant business player. And I assume that especially given the television revenue that we're still talking about football the NFL in particular as as dominant. Yeah. Yeah. Football is collectively the value of the teams are worth possibly close to a hundred billion dollars in revenue it makes upwards of fifteen billion dollars. Roger Goodell has predicted that football would be a twenty five billion dollar industry within a decade. So you can see from a business perspective. Look, we don't have to take half the audience or a quarter of the audience. If you just take a few crumbs from that gigantic pie, you could be pretty rich. So I understand why someone would say, hey, what if? Where just a pale copy just a tenth or even a fiftieth football. We could still have an enterprise that makes us a lot of money. The problem is historically. It's been hard to do that. Yeah. I wanna go back. Do you? Remember when you first heard about the USFL? I mean, were you already plugged into football at that point when the USFL made its debut. Yeah. In the early nineteen eighties. I was a big New York Jets fan, which doesn't make that much sense. Because they were that good. Although there was one year strike-shortened year that they had a decent enough team. And I remember Donald Trump who was by then a fixture in New York media and real estate circles and remember him going on the Letterman show and talking about how he took over Eastern Airlines, and it's going to be the Trump shuttle. It just seemed like one of these billionaires or millionaires on the make and he announced plans for USFL team. There were going to be called the generals and the name the name. Donald Trump wasn't the most associated name with the generals who was was her. Herschel Walker the great perhaps one of the greatest college running backs of all time, he joins the generals. And if you wanna watch a great college Heisman Trophy running back. He was the only way to watch it. And there were a lot of is on Herschel Walker Brian Sipe who was a former Cleveland Browns. Very good NFL quarterback who we hired to be on the team. And the the roster of the generals was a decent roster a plausible. They wouldn't have won five games in the NFL. But I don't think they would have gone over sixteen. So we put together a very interesting watchable product as did a few of the other owners at the time is funny. You should mention Herschel Walker because I was growing up in Georgia at the time, and you can imagine, you know, you have this Heisman Trophy winner who put UGA on the map in many respects. I mean, it just made it a championship team. And you wanted to you just expected that he would be going to the NFL. L and when the USFL scooped him up what a surprise. And I remember feeling both a sense of letdown that maybe I wouldn't get to watch him, you know, in this new league. But also a sense that something new and exciting was about to happen spring football. I mean, that's crazy. You know? And I unless memory is doesn't serve it seems like Herschel Walker jumped to the USFL before he could have jumped to the NFL because of the rules. Do you remember any of that? I think that back then there was a restriction against underclass men coming to the NFL. Yeah. USFL did away with all of that. In fact, I think the USFL was pretty much open to anyone joining their league there were pirate type organization, but you also have to realize the early seasons of the USFL. It was only fifteen years removed from the AFL, and what the AFL did was they took another exciting southern player and brought him to a New York team. And that. Was Joe Nemeth playing for the jets? And so and that was my team and that was a model of an upstart league. They were a fall football league. But an upstart league challenging the establishment and winning and becoming absorbed into the NFL. And then even more recently than that, the ABA which was the the organization that challenged the NBA, and it was more exciting, and they add multicolored balls, and they had three point shooting and many of their team's got absorbed into the NBA. So this idea especially in the early eighties before football became this culturally. Dominant juggernaut I would say back then by the way baseball was the national sport this idea that you couldn't possibly challenge the NFL. It's not true. Maybe in retrospect, it seems true. But a good business plan could have and a lot of people in retrospect, look back and say, in fact would have challenged the NFL establish that USFL as lead to be reckon with. So why didn't the USFL become a part of the NFL? L as as Donald Trump wished that it had. I mean, obviously he wanted to have an NFL team in part of his strategy was to get ownership of the generals. Yes. And I think and this is this is mostly going by the accounts that have been written the ESPN documentary books on the NFL. And maybe it relies on the great man or the infamous man of history little too much. But the answer is Donald Trump. It seems because Donald Trump just like he was a guy from queens who always looked at Manhattan is looking down on him and wanted to be part of the senior circuit in Manhattan. I think looked at the fact that the US was spring football. And he couldn't live with that. He wanted to directly challenge the NFL and a lot of other owners, maybe without the economic wherewithal to oppose him said this was a bad idea there. We have a plan if we stick to this plan we can make money in the future. But it's very important that where spring league and Donald Trump said no Donald Trump says we're going head to head because he couldn't. Be second best. And you also engaged in a court fight simultaneously as he brought the US fell into the fall. And that just ruined it. There was no way to compete head to head with the NFL. But that's just it. Right. I mean, if in fact Trump's idea that the USFL would be absorbed into the NFL like the AFL with what you were just talking about early. If that had happened. It could have been a gold mine for certainly for all the owners, and who knows how many other football fans in some of the smaller cities, for example, this is I guess I wonder why it hasn't happened. And when you consider what's going on right now, you have the XFL you have the alliance of American football. Which is you know, just just getting off the ground. Now. I mean is this basically given the NFL's position in sports and business today is it basically game where you can't really take on the NFL head to head. It's always going to be about trying to. To get a foot into the door with the hope of getting absorbed somehow by by the leviathan. Yes, I do think. So. And I think that there's a very real impractical concern with just in terms of salaries, and this is not true for a couple reasons with the USF L, but just in terms of salaries you can't pay players more than the NFL. Can I suppose none? Neither of these two new leagues can do. So I suppose you could imagine a league founded by billionaires that wouldn't mind burning

"Well, I was there to do a piece on Rigo Poynton ship who is easily one of the best kickers in the country and easily one of the most. Different people I've ever met quirkiest looking at me funny when he says, he he's he's a really sweet, dude and really different. And he has the peace will will get into some of those quirks and get into a little bit of his story. And it really is remarkable story where he came from. And and how he sort of become a cult figure in that town and locally and even nationally. I mean, people recognize them not just because what kind of kicker is. But because of those really distinctive glasses, and he wears them proudly. And so we talked to the Thomas team optometrist at Georgia who told us that he has been doing this for thirty four years. He has outfitted UGA athletes for you know, going on what four decades and Rodriguez a first guy who's ever wanted to wear glasses. Rather than context ward of word both. But what the glasses do for your perception of? I mean, because you kicker has to be I mean, you you could close your eyes and do it. But you still looking context just on work form for whatever reason they annoy him bother him, and he kind of likes the look of the goggles. And you know, he was telling the protective though. Well, yeah. I mean, they're, you know, mud because our warm Dickerson warming great players, worn them. But he just kinda likes him because of how comfortable they make him. And you know, he says he has been called four is via opponents. And and he shuts them up one way he puts the biscuit through the uprights. And and he is turned himself into a about as close to an automatic as you can get certainly SEC in nationwide. J J hausky with us. The SEC people don't like hearing it. But yeah. Yeah. To the playoff rankings come out on Tuesday. You're going to be in there. Yeah. You have to out for. Yeah. And how many in the top ten? I mean it. It's it really is incredible. You'll have at least three. Yeah. And you can always make the argument the bottom of the conference. Do you judge a conference by the the top third of it do judge it all the way through? But I still go back to. Who wins the national championship who's playing for national championships? No, but I thought things have happened. I'll one thing that has happened. You know, I heard Desmond Howard. David pilots say that the big ten Teddy's was the news. No one thing that happened last Saturday, would you agree with me? The SEC west is clearly the best is a college football. I don't know that that was one thing that happened for the I. I would say some else that happened to Paul, they need a ride them Harpo vast out of Michigan, get their money back. That was another thing that happened right there, but there's a lot of stuff that happened. Hey, all we got a good team LSU got a good team. There's a lot of good stuff that happened. You know, Georgia got hill, let's say Georgia, the beach, South Carolina, Paul, I really do. I mean guys, three thirty across style as blind. I mean that made the wash in halls, but like a little bottle little pig out in the ten to. I mean, this is a good team. They aren't Joe Frazier of college football, but the problem is the elephant in the room, baby the Alabama crimson tide. I had a deep gut feeling, oh, miss was gonna beat, Alabama. I told ball three days before that game started. They did. They would in there and they beat the crap out of Alabama. "The fans are gonna show up, and if the players can go out and scoring at opening drive, they can take it home from there. Okay. So stop right there and finish the the canvas. Let's paint the rest of the game. You think score early. They have to score early because the fans, that's what they want. You can feel the tension around here, like these fans, they want something to celebrate. And will you give them the confidence where you can go out and put seven on a board early from narrow, they're going to be able to get into the game. Sandstorm is gonna be planned. Two thousand one is going to be playing and those guys in Georgia. They haven't experienced it yet. Final score. No final score I'll guarantee game. Gamecocks are going to get the win, and that's all that matters. Hey, by agree. Tori Gurley for president, at least. This county Tori. Thanks. I have a feeling if if Georgia wins, most of us will move on Georgia loses, you'll, you'll be your name will be on your your hired and listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Everyone here is still rolling their eyes over, not not only here, but in Athens over what Tori had to say about. The differential between the Gamecocks and the BULLDOGS. Let's get some reaction to that. Matt is in Georgia, and you're on the air, Matt. You can take a crap in a box and Mark guarantee Paul, but all you got at the end of the day is a crap in the box. And that's what I think about toy girlies comment. Nobody knew Tori Gurley was until he made his stupid comment. You know, South Carolina and their stupor tradition sandstorm the song's twenty five years old. And when we come out and run the ball down throat, all eighty thousand fans will be silenced, and I'll be there screaming Gogol's with their lane. So they Georgia is out of the last five. Lebanon last fifteen and all were fifty eighteen to South Carolina. Can't break on bathwater. We'll reject he wasn't unique. Good Florida. He wasn't any. He's not any good at South Carolina. He's got another offense to Ford matters because he sucks. The guy was enough into poor netting played at the university of Georgia, and he was a mar wreck ragent and that's what I got. We will stunk South Carolina's Bill all the, his negates by halftime. It so tour, girly. Maybe you got yourself a job. I'll find thumb predictions like that. Crap in the box. Go on what was so funny as as Matt was saying that to to my left, which I guess would be to audiences, right? Is that right? We'll mush champ his staff and the Gamecocks were walking by and they could hear some of that anyway. Mad with his most emotional take, maybe. In in eight or nine months. "Confidence. I is one thing, but it's a robbery game. It's got all these things that really don't matter to me as much because they've been factored in. But one thing that you said her a couple weeks ago got to Georgia. You know you've heard that your comments bulletin board at UGA. Do you cringe a little bit thinking about that or are you really care? No, I'm just waiting on Georgia to cut me a check for putting my face all over their weight room. You know, I give me out Akron s? Great football, I'm I. It's something that we all dream of and if they get fired up about it and then so be it. But I know those guys that's in that locker room the Gamecocks. They're going to be ready to roll ask you that because it's always a cliche that we talk about, man, you don't wanna put bulletin board material. You played the game, this bulletin board material really matter. It doesn't matter at all because I had a friend alshon Jeffery guarantee that they were gonna win. The Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles and they went out and won. So when we're con. People, you know, to be a game cock. You gotta be confident. You gotta be proud and I'll say, we would me graduated from there, but just sitting out watching the film and just looking at it from team versus team. They're the better team right now. South Carolina's a better team South Carolina's the better team right now, I don't care about five star or ten star recruits. If you don't have plan experience in planning stadium behind me, it doesn't matter because last year you were playing in high school, there's nothing that you can simulate where you go out here and you play against these guys that are the Knicks step from being in the NFL. So they're going to, they're going to be in for a rude awakening tomorrow. I'll get to a question a minute. I'm just trying to digest what you've been saying here EMMY. It's one thing Tori to to pick this game in July. Another thing to pick it in August another thing to pick it here. But for you to say that South Carolina has the better team, the better players. I mean, I'm, I'm struggling to understand what you're basing that on. Deebo. Samuel is a Ha's MC candidate. He's one of the best players in the country. Jake Pentland, Jake from their their neck and neck, but the water see records South Carolina's better than Georgia. Now Georgia has a better run game with their skiing. But those guys are young Holyfield in the Andrea swift. They haven't experienced plan an SEC game like this. And I'm quite sure with South Carolina defense and coach. Most champ and Travolta's like the do was stop in Iran is going to be all on Jake from to go out there and make throws his arm, and I don't think he can do it in third and long. Why do you think then that not forget the media? I mean, we can yack and talk, and some of us know what we're talking about. Most don't. But coaches have voted the same way. Is it just a carryover from last year? Yeah, a lot of stuff just carry over from, I'm we sat down and watched Miami, get spanked by LSU. Fair point in everyone written LSU all ten out. Gen team? Exactly. So they was out there. They they went out of their handle business in Dallas, and I see the same thing with South Carolina. This is a brand new year brand new team, and those guys just got to go out and play the game. That's the most important factors. Just go out there and play. Not turn the ball over and get the crowd behind. There's nothing like plant in front of eighty two thousand and William Bryce in a sellout game..

"But tomorrow this time we'll have a kickoff while the second quarter and it will be Rockin and somebody who knows about rocking it. We Bryce is Tori Gurley and a couple of months ago you showed up at our studio. No, yeah, no sponsors. Now you're being brought to you now you're the radios for Holiday Inn express. Congratulations. You've come a long way. So we had much champagne about an hour ago and he was on this hot kick. We talked about when you were in studio, he got his wish it's going to be brutal tomorrow. Now what you'd explain having dawned, the uniform of South Carolina, what it's like on early September day in the in the middle to late afternoon in that stadium, it's nothing like playing on CBS lawful ballgame, and William Brice stadium and hundred degree rather right here in front of the home crowd. I mean those guys, they're going to go out. They're gonna compete. They're going to have fun, but the weather, it goes back to Jeff Dilmun with those guys prepare themselves this all season. They'll all those all season workouts conditioning and being ready for this moment right here for them to go out and get this win over Georgia. Yeah, I, I tried to explain to coach mush champ. I don't think he really wanted to hear it because he played at Georgia that it's hot and Athens too. You should know we wanted to be hot here this this is probably the hottest place in America and William Bryce being behind us in the. Why is that? I don't know. I think the Lord just like to bring heat here because he knows football season. What's the policy? Is it surely flat over. I don't know anything you're between them out. Here between the mountains and the ocean. I'm I've never understood, but I, I agree with you. I've been every SEC place times a million and it always seems worse here. Yes, this is one of those things that it's going to take a acclimation period for guys get used to it. Hopefully they conditioned their bodies and they make sure they stay hydrated because you will see a lot of guys cramp up if they're not prepared for this brutal heat. But even when you are prepared and you are I I mean, if you're an athlete today and even when you play not that long ago, you're not rolling. You're not rolling out of bed coming to camp. I mean you you are conditioning yourself every day of the year. Yes, but it's a, it's a huge difference when you have three hundred pounders leaning on you competing at the highest level, this is the best football list working out to Jim. No, this is to try and couldn't pull it off. Okay, let's let's figure out how this game is one. You have been on chef Carolina. We, we could accept your pick from a couple of months ago that, yeah, you're played here. You're. Dan, but in knowing you this is not just like, hey, look at me. I think South Carolina's gonna win you. You really believe it. So give us the roadmap to victory just breaking down film and watching Georgia playing in the semifinal against Oklahoma Baker Mayfield had his weight with them. They went up and down the field and if Oklahoma run defense would have show it up, George never would have made it to the national championship game. I mean, they were getting guest entire time as well as in a national championship game. I'll second in twenty six and it biggest game of the year. You have coverage bus for touchdown to a backup quarterback that shows a lot. And those guys were there are a lot of draft picks on defense. There were a lot of guys who were drafted as well as offensively and they're not coming back. They're not dressing alpha George on Saturday. That's a brand new team. They're South Carolina, got a year older more experienced, and I think would them plan Georgia week to it a season. It plays into the Gamecocks hand to get to win. Now..

"Everyone in the bar that I was buying drinks for. We all agree child Carolina's gonna win the game. Well, here's the thing whether they do or not. I think what we look at here is a scenario where I just don't think that they're afraid of Georgia, which a lot of times Tobar. Well, I was in a different one with my mom, but here's the thing we look at what what happens with these teams? It's kind of this like, okay, Alabama gets off the bus. Georgia gets off the bus now because they're in that same conversation and there's that intimidation factor and you can look at the Xs and os all day long it, yes, that matters. But if they're if a team is intimidated by their competition from the gecko that factors in, I don't sense that South Carolina, at least at this juncture is intimidated by George. I think they have a lot of confidence in what they'll do here in their stadium, their home crowd there mottos don't flinch. You gotta think that factors in when you talk about the competition, they'll be facing. We don't. We. We don't take sides, but I, I do. I will say I have a minor regret, I wish, and I think had this game been at night South Carolina's chances would have gone up it. I think this is an impossible place to play at night when everything is going their way. That's true. I, I still think it's gonna be. I mean, don't you guys think that stadium's going to be nuts tomorrow? Yeah. That was like what I didn't say. Well, yeah, I I totally pandered to the crowd. What are they gonna say, no, it's not going to be nuts. They're, they're going to be like, yeah, but it is. It is the difference between nuts should three thirty and seven thirty is about forty eight ounces of beer. What are you saying? I don't know why I keep. What happened to you at lunch? I when I left you the other night walk into another place and I was trying to get him home and he just kept on going on like, all right. I'll see you later. To keep myself under control, unlike you, but anyway. Well, you you, you, you had to work the next. I had nothing to do. Yeah. You only had to get on a flight. Okay. So the one other thing that I think is interesting about this. Everyone talks about eight, Jake FRANZ, a guy, Georgia. He is the guy look, there's there's no quarterback controversy. But let's say that Jake fromm comes into this environment and struggles at all. You're not saying he will, but does at some point. Do you see people start to run about? Do we bring in Justin feeling? This could be a critical game for Jake from doing his composure. That's the setup. I mean, if if a couple of things happen the go against them, then curbs ending over there going. I I gotta get out of this jam, right. Oh, by the way I did ask will muschamp if he in Kirby at talked at all because you know they're, they're boys, they're buddies. He was like, no, we don't talk what what's the season starts? They don't talk, no, no text message want to be friends with almost Jim. I think he's a really. I ran into him two years ago on vacation. I won't say wear, but it was in South Carolina. Well, that's easy to figure out it was really nice and he, he was his laid back. I didn't even know who he was like a baseball cap on shipping on ice tea and. Well, I know you have to go, you have work to do. Wherever bar you were at for lunch broker. I'll see you later. Well, you. You're listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. On the. Now, Yep, you guessed.

"I love it. I think that's something coach much Sam really wants in this game. I think he wants it to be hot think he wants it to be long, extend the game because I think he really believes in his team. He believes in his weapons, he thinks he match of really well against Georgia. So let's get into these fans certainly are optimistic, you know what's on the field as you break a game like this down. Certainly we know we're Georgia's rank, but what do you see in terms of keys to this match? I think this is the best that South Carolina's mashed up against Georgia in years even when they upset George a few years ago, I still think that South Carolina. Matches up better this year. You look at Brian Edwards, deebo Samuel Rico, Dowdell Jake Bentley the way that they're able to match up against us Georgia team. They get him earlier in the year. They get them at home. I think Georgia's really good. I picked Georgia to go to the playoffs. I think we're one of the best teams in the country, but if there is a team that could knock off Georgia win a happens and where it happens is important. I think South Carolina has a chance to make that happen. Let's talk about Jake Bentley. Certainly come a long way. He's come a long way and you know, he, I don't necessarily think that he has the. He's the most talented quarterback. I don't think is the most athletic quarterback, but he's got a little moxie to them. He's got a little it factor. I think the players love playing with them. I think he's one of the hardest worker. I know he's one of the hardest workers. He's one of the first guys in the last guys to leave the team rally around him. And guess what? When you got guys like deebo Samuel Bryan Edwards, it helps a lot too, but this is really his chance. This is really his chance to say, you know, I'm one of the best quarterbacks. I wanna best players in the SEC and you know, I'm worth the hype and I can get it done on a big stage. This is Jake's chance to truly show what he can do in the SEC Tim. There are a lot of nice programs in the that we talk about a couple of them are in the east, but until you beat the big guy, that's all you are. Yeah. What's it take to to finally knock the big bully off. I think it's gonna take deebo Samuel being the best player on the field. I think Jake can't turn the football over. And then I think that South Carolina has got to get one or two turnovers, and if they do that, I think they can win. Listen. It's not a long shot. Last year is a long shot. You were missing depot. You know you couldn't run the ball, but Georgia's it's early right. They got there so talented, but they're young, they're missing number three, the best defensive player in the country. Right? What Roku Smith's not there to Outside Linebackers there from last year trend Thompsons not there. So it's a new young team. They haven't faced a a good team on the road yet they haven't been tested. So football is also so much about people coming together and Georgia doesn't necessarily come together right way, although talented and very exceptional athletes, South Carolina could definitely get them a couple of other games, critical game in in Gainesville. You know about the Kentucky game..
