No. 9 Notre Dame Escapes With OT Victory Over Florida State

"Florida state. Are they better. They have to be better. They're down thirty twenty. They hang in there. George travis quarterback in a weird way they got back in this game running the football because notre dame stayed with a three down linemen formation and then florida states. Like this is what you're giving us. We're just gonna keep taking. It kept running the football down. But mackenzie milton if you remember him at. Ucf to top ten heisman finishes had played a game since november. Two thousand eighteen. He gets back in. It was the story of this game. A starts i think five or five numbers actually could have been a little bit better than that and they tie this game up and send it to overtime for state missed the kick at home. So notre dame's probably gonna pretty get no one's gonna care for state might be better. It's kind of one of those momentum losses when you've been down as florida state but you have the expectations that you should have when you're in tallahassee. But i'm not sure and again notre dame no one's gonna care because the playoff losses.

Where Does Derek Brunson Go From Here?

"Let's talk about dark brunson because he looked great. He dominates he submits darren till in the third round. He's now won five in a row. He's tear it up. And in the contextual sense. He has absolutely done enough to earn a title. Shot in fact. I will strongly argue. He is more deserving title. Shot than marvin vittori was when he got the title shot. Robert whitaker is next. Brunson could easily wait for a title shot. He could be a backup. He could be replacement fighter for that fight or he could go ahead and just take another fight. So where does derek brunson go from. Another dominant win. I'll be shocked if he's not at least slotted in as a reserve for the Sonya you would occur rematch when whenever that happens and it's not. It hasn't been book yet. We're all thinking early. Twenty twenty two. I'm sure brunson will be ready by then. I'm sure he's staying in shape. He's aware of the possibility. I know we said on another show recently. That fighters shouldn't take reserve opportunities. But i mean. I think they should if they're only if they're guaranteed show money and win money. It brunson gets that guarantee. I know that's not gonna happen. That's not how the ucf works. I think they might get their show money usually because they show up and they weigh in. So that's the minimum. You should also get your win money. I want that to be a policy in the usa going forward. And that's the case. Brunson one hundred percent. Be ready for that spot. He's he's definitely earned that for me. If he can wait. I wanna see him weight. This ideal situation that sonya and whitaker shah you're february the late and then And then we you know maybe brunson can get in there. I guess it would be may probably may or april which seems like a long time but if you can wait that long. That's how i would do it. I he deserves tell shot he should notify anyone else. Yeah i mean. I think he's absolutely unequivocally in the driver's seat for the next in line. Spot behind whittaker it's oughta sonya whitaker brunson then cannon air in my eyes and if i'm derek brunson like you said there's nothing more you need to do your next fight should be for the belt and you hope that robert whitaker doesn't beat israel ottesen it because then there's going to be a trilogy fight yada yada. Yada canadair needs brunson to solidify title. Shot brunson does not need cannon air to solidify his in my eyes for the sake of check the tapes and all that the ufc will probably make the fight between brunson and cannon air possibly put it on the same card is out of sonya whitaker. So that's why pick.

"Into taco fall. Has a home. For some reason it's the Cleveland Cavaliers. Yeah. That's the part that doesn't make sense. And that is clearly the big news of the day. That's so Bucky's buckle up. I was talking nothing but the best he is. One of my favorite people I've covered both at UCF down the road for me here in Orlando as well as with the Celtics. UCF Fighter Cat Zingano on Discovering Her Passion for Wrestling

"So how did you like what made you want to get into fighting at such a young age. I was very very much tom way. But i still was like really like really wanted to be soft and sensitive but like i wanted to climb in the trees i wanted to be in the dirt like i wanted to play with the animals. Just always into something and like curious With everything outside my parents were very much like go outside and play family and I really got into sports. And like i was. I was kind of a quiet kid. Like i wasn't it wasn't the easiest for me to talk to everyone. Once i got comfortable like Me out but i was like a big outlet for me. It was a big place for me to go be loud just through my movement and be creative and Find close friends inmates in Know what my growing up there is like. I don't know. I didn't always feel the best at home appearance fodder in Just kind of had weird energy so where felt most comfortable with to be out playing sports and to be just like with this other kind of family. That's fatigue you know. I've just really flourished with that. That was away from you. Connect with my parents in certain ways like they've come my games matches whatever but Every sport i got predicts that you know not to have these great goals with them and everything but I always kinda catch my eye on another or in the end. Now it'd be like done without one to another one issue a couple at a time. It didn't really give either by everything but like still loves the there in. When i saw wrestling i was like what is that like. That looks so hard. And i just saw people totally overpowering each other like someone grabbing a person from their feet putting him on their back. If you're holding on their back long enough that you win in. I mean we're always physical playing growing up. My brother was king of choke slam you while he walks by and as for affection. Of course you know. We have that physical side of my family too. And i just looked at. That was like i wanted to know how to do that. Like i wanna i wanna. I wanted to understand that in didn't really see so much like a look around the room and only boys doing whatever that is. I want to know how to do that like i. I think it's interesting. And i thought it was practical in there. There's other places in times in my life where. I did feel a bit bullied in as this. This is the answer. This'll stop off that. You know if. I can learn how to do this. And you know no one will be able to do these things to me or anybody else. They care about it. Let's just how you know so

"Welcome to sports talk. We're going all the way till 7 45 because I am the bridge between the Tampa Bay Bucks 47 to 7 victory over Detroit today and tonight's 8 15 kickoff. Between the Miami Dolphins in Las Vegas Raiders will let's talk bear cat football and basketball from Bear Cat Journal. It's an honor, pleasure and privilege to welcome in Chad Brandel Chad. Happy holidays to you. Happy New Year. Happy holidays. Check our you fantastic. Cannot wait until January. 1st one of my favorite days of the year, if not my favorite, and it all starts with a noon kickoff. You see bear cats against the Georgia Bulldogs of the Southeastern Conference, Man. I cannot wait. How about you? I'm pretty excited. It's what they've been looking for. Right. You get a chance against one of the premier teams in the FCC is to show where you're at, and that's what they you know that's what they worked for. I think they are definitely looking forward to the opportunity. No doubt that's the huge word opportunity. What a huge game. It is for the U. C bear cats and once again here were reading Maura Maura about the Georgia football teams opt outs. Eight draft eligible players are skipping the upcoming Peach Bowl. Wow, and this gives credence to Urban Meyer's philosophy off expanding the playoffs because if your team is it in the national hunt, there's gonna be more players in these bowl games, blowing him off to prepare for the NFL draft. Yeah, I mean, Unfortunately, that's kind of the teams that recruit like Georgia does have a lot of NFL guys. And when you get to this point Um, you're kind of Put in a position where you have to make Ah, wise decision, But for some, it comes officer is a selfish decision. Um, you know those guys. They're looking toe being that's right there. Face it. They're not getting paid right now to play football on their next step. They will. I mean, I don't I don't fault anybody for going it but You're writing that you don't see the teams in the playoffs, have guys opting out. It's the new year, six bowls and and down below where you know you're putting guys in a bad a bad spot where they have to make that call. Which it's an unfortunate part of the process. I guess Jed Brendel's with us from Bear Cat Journal and you seize victory over Tulsa. Well on a Cole Smith's kick and I automatically thought of his entire family father and mother, Steven Regan and brother Cone it who was the 2018, Ohio State Cross country champion who's now at Arizona State University for Middletown High School. What a family and what of What a night for the Smith family. Yeah, I mean it Z. That's All this kind of the story of why you're fan of college football, right? He got a chance as a zoo, a freshman? Didn't have a beginning. Okay? Year not a great year, but especially that game at UCF. Haven't defined, you know is the beginning of his career. They brought somebody else in to challenge him. Last year, he lost the job and then you know Most of this year. He was the guy, but Luke Fickell wasn't kicking field goals. Hey, wasn't he wasn't in the business of field goals to the first part of the season when they were blowing everybody out. When you get to use the after he makes a couple big ones is really probably the difference in that game and then being able to hold off UCF. And then you know his is no longer have to buy beer and Clifton moment. As he wins the A C championship against also on a kick. Yep. Check. I watched him, Miss. Every chick but one in pregame. Well, he had a he had a hamstring tweet that You know, the They had two weeks. Off from Covic. They had Most of their roster was diagnosed tested positive for Cove it in that break. So they had two weeks off where they weren't doing any activity, and they tried to Ramp up a zoo quickly as possible to get ready for Tulsa called Smith tweaked his hamstring. Didn't handle Kickoffs is the first time all year he wasn't the kickoff guy. And then you call on him at the last second The define the season and he split the uprights and that's Ah, not as good as it gets for a kicker right championship on the line three seconds left. Put the ball through the uprights, and you're the hero. No doubt that was that was just huge and being in the studio and watching that just just absolutely phenomenal and man puts puts the bear cats in just an incredible position here in the Peach Bowl against Georgia. And, gosh, you mention the word opportunity. Wow. What? What a victory would mean for this for this university for this program under Luke Fickell. It would be the statement that they've been looking for to cap you know who'd pickles first four years of Cincinnati? Um More than anything that checked it, doesn't it? They get this win. Doesn't accept things up really interesting for 2021, where Have a trip to Indiana. The Hoosiers look like As long as his appendix. The quarterback is back. Indiana looks legit. I mean almost everybody from that Indiana team. Returns next year. Do you get a trip to Indiana that looks like a top 15 team. Then you get.

"Yard penalty from the previous spot. Second down. That's the junior left tackle Brady Christian Center just Messed up. But what would have been a trick play? They lined up patella as the quarterback of the shotgun set with Wilson to his left, and he was about that. Handed off and then set up a reverse how it's a 2nd and 13 with four minutes left in the third quarter from the 41 of UCF. Wilson takes the snap Wilson with plenty of time. Now he'll run backwards turn and just got it out of bounds as far as he can into the fourth road. Just that alone was a display of his arm strength, throwing it off balance, but about 45 yards in the air. Well out of bounds. Do you see that athleticism, He has to be able to navigate the pocket to move around. He's so effortless in his opportunities to try to create second chances they were discussing as to whether or not that was going to be. Actual intentional grounding, but I don't think he was still In the pocket. It moved out of it and then kind of back in, couldn't call it for that there were two receivers in the area. By the area. We mean the zip code. Sailor. I was way over. Heard down and 13. BYU with the 41 yard line of UCF 49 10. BYU leads it. Zach Wilson quarterback draw up the middle bounces outside left breaks a tackle but couldn't break a second. Man has taken to the ground. I don't know about you. At 49 10. I don't know that I'm running a quarterback draw was Zach Wilson. I don't want to get that young man hurt. Only had a trick play dialed up from a few snaps ago, so they've got him fully engaged here late in the third quarter. I keep thinking I'm in my head. I'm like, What's Aaron Rodgers? Sadie, you know, I'm just still come to Green Bay, but I think you should come out. I don't know what anybody would say to him. At this point. As good as he's been, they're gonna go for it on fourth down and 10. Trips right, Wilson dropping the throne, dumping it over the middle. It is caught by Paul Woo, but he will not get the first down, took it to the 31 yard line. But that was it as he was run out of bounds. Corey Thorton and U C F will take over on down. Has been absolutely brilliant tonight. Back. Wilson has 21 of 27 for 3 78 and three touchdowns. His rating to 32. At four different games this season with a quarterback rating over 200 U. C F will come out with three minutes left in the third quarter. First down and 10 from their own 32 yard line. Dealing Gabriel line up with Greg McRae in the backfield in the Kree will take the hand off and Run it off tackle right across the 34 yard line to the 35, a gain of four I think the good news for Central Florida re Ardiden claim is that you're getting a defense of unit that's young, getting a lot of experience this year, but in this ball game Had taken some lumps along the way but will benefit them next year. Then Dylan Gabriel, only a sophomore stretch played a McRae will have a first down and more to the near side left and across the 50 yard line as McRae run out by Zane Anderson, But Cray over 70 yards rushing tonight on 14 carries First down. UCF, BYU 49 2 receivers stacked right, Gabriel, Quick throw to the right. It is caught. Across the 45 to the 42 yard line. Jack Aya's cradle. Made the reception his second of the night. Number one, You see effort just a freshman. The tremendous frame length second down from the 42 6 £495 from Carver, Jordan, Georgia handoff. On the quick hitter. It's McCrae to pick up the first down inside the 40 under two minutes left in the third quarter..

"We mentioned were three three and a half hours away from the College Football playoff show on. ESPN where will everyone follow so much. Interesting where Alabama is going to be because I think we know who the top three are going to be joining us on the day of once again. Always great to have south on so seth. Let's talk about the the the elephant in the Room Alabama. What what do you know about them? And what are the are the projections. Now we think that Alabama is still very much in this playoff race and they're actually not in a bad spot at all we give him the fourth best shot to reach the playoff at forty one percent. And if you're an Alabama fan what he cares if they win out. Where where do you stand and at eleven and one we put Alabama Emma at a sixty nine percent chance to get into the College Football playoff? That's according the playoff predictor and I think it really comes down to their schedule which a lot of people knock it. We're we're saying is really really not as bad as people think if you compare that to say Oklahoma schedule Alabama. We'll have three games. that are tougher than Oklahoma's toughest games and toughest office game. And if you compare the two if Alabama eleven one and Oklahoma's at twelve and one according to our numbers is about twice as hard to go eleven to one Alabama schedule as it is to go twelve and one with Oklahoma's take that boomer sooner. Listen let's get to the next most asked question on this program Ken to SEC teams get into the playoffs. Yeah absolutely in fact not only absolutely we put at fifty six fifty seven percent chance of big thing the happened over the weekend was not just the Lsu Alabama game but penn state going down. That really helps open the door for the to put two teams in so there's a few different ways. He's this could happen. I mean I think the obvious one is is the one that most people think of. LSU continues to roll they win the SEC. Alabama gets at eleven to one but there are other scenarios. What of Georgia tr? You know what if they went out and they end up winning the SEC and And be an otherwise undefeated. LSU So there's a couple different paths for the SEC. And we think that some combination of those teams teams is a decent shot. The two of them will get in. So let's talk about Ohio State no issue because I was just gonNA use myself an example ask you to psychoanalyze. I analyse me and be nice to me. I had Ohio state number one all of a sudden. I go to Tuscaloosa Saturday win and I checked the box next morning. LSU number one. Explain the differences between these two teams. Paul I'm with you so I don't have much to offer. I can't call you crazy here today. I look here's the difference right so. LSU In Ohio state or wanted to record but if you look at that doesn't tell the whole story so Lsu and average top twenty five team to be undefeated with LSU schedule. We only think there's a one percent chance an average top twenty five team could pull that off whereas for Ohio state is a sixteen percent chance they had an easier road so much more They LSU tigers have accomplished much more than Ohio state and so to me they deserve to be number one Given the win in over Alabama. Now I want to get to Clemson for a second. Because they are the forgotten team of twenty nine thousand nine. They started Out as the reigning Champs Trevor Lawrence and and you know they play these Games on Saturday night and we all go okay. Is there anything else on. Because they're so dominant ever since that Early Season Sneeze against North Carolina so I mean they have any chance of missing plus so I mean. Obviously they'd have to lose wouldn't they. Yeah they have to lose but I think that if they do you end up with Clemson really being a lot of trouble. I'm with you. I feel like I've ever even talked about Clemson. Their schedule is so easy that If I was looking at it just now from top teams perspective. You look at Clemson's schedule it's easier than like Yukon schedule or two lane. I I mean you're talking about a bunch of group of five teams. Have easier schedules. Someone you know said to me and I so I ended up looking at. HOW WOULD UCF schedule two years ago? Compared to Clemson uh-huh in this year Clemson's is harder. Don't get me wrong. It's the eightieth hardest schedule by that measure and UCS was ninety six. But you're not talking about something that's that far off and so the point is look if they went out fine. They're one of the best teams in college football but if they lose we would almost be very unlikely at that point for Clemson actually get in so we don't have wiggle room speaking of unlikely the fact that we are talking now about Baylor in Minnesota might be the longest shot of the college football season so help us understand do either one of them have a clear path to the playoffs assuming they check all the boxes I think they have a clear path in terms of winning. The problem is just that it's really unlikely. That either GONNA win Minnesota specially we give them just a one percent chance to win out. They have a tough game at Iowa before having to go Face Wisconsin and the big ten championship game so Minnesota would be an underdog at three of its final four games. Here's the good news for the GOPHERS. Though it was I was just running the numbers if they were to lose to Iowa and then went out right so then that means beating Wisconsin and going and beating probably Ohio state in the big ten championship game. They would still have a shot at twelve one which stunned me. But at twelve and one in that scenario they would have beaten Penn state. That would have been Wisconsin and they would be no Haya state so we think they actually would have a chance to get get in the problem. Of course is what I go back to what I said at the top. It's just so unlikely that they're going to be able to pull that off that they have a lot of work to do before consider them realistic contenders. Just one more thing before you go. Let's talk about Georgia and I know they have a very tough game this weekend. At Auburn Auburn they get to Atlanta. I mean there are a couple of combinations about Georgia that say lose to Auburn and then they beat. Lsu where are they. Yeah that's a really fun. Scenario right I if they do that well. We think that Georgia probably would not get in as a two loss as he C- champion. What I think we'll be wild is that you could have a situation where to SEC? Teams could get into the playoff and neither of them would be the champion in that situation because Lsu can get in an Alabama could get in given the two losses for Georgia there. We think it would just end up holding them out with any other. Good teams Can they win if they win the SEC. With one loss there are there are almost guaranteed a spot that second loss would probably be the end for them in other words. You're saying Alabama fans are GonNa Screaming War Eagle Saturday afternoon. I think they ought to be absolutely always great to have you on your next Tuesday. Thanks Paul thank you and our most of our most anticipated guests of the week breaking it down okay. We don't make this stuff up a lot of people said you're just doing roll. Tide and I think he he supported with the

the world and accept that trophy all songs I was yeah I didn't think a bit on gas really on Lean obviously that time off back of winks Korean that's interesting have the voting is done online obviously they pick the top one hundred group on writers What I nominate one hundred group one races as the top one hundred of outings don on that system and of course God winks win sort of I I it rises seven group once and then she came back and won the next ye so guide me a little bit of a saloon passage Gina the point scoring the apart from that they'll have a great I think two or three one winners in Hong Kong and of course that Japan cop at the end of the wasn't amazing evil clean I'll never forget it I mentioned you're thirty nine years if I do you have talked to reflect or just too busy seven days a week rice rotting and and rotting away may like winks you don't really get Tom to reflect as simple as that forget yesterday move onto the next day on very much looks forward not backwards anyway But I did tight Tom as we all know off two weeks as retirement to two months off we employees indeed and that did give me Tom to reflect not only on Wync spit on myself and my family and I think you know there was enforces might for myself in those closest to me other laws for we for that success to be able to happen and you know we won't get and later in the show but that's one of the reasons that Japan Cup win was you know very very special to me every will dive into wings a little bit later on but he started you apprenticeship with Rawson but Beth ninety seven you kicked in where you're a natural joke no it wasn't very far from it does natural horsemen natural raw reading how law I can remember the Pony Club from before school up until I define and up until the I just started right shorting really and at the idea of wells Lawson's windows fief doing in the school holidays and fortunately my parents had all the allman had a little bit of an association with Billy Ass Browse through through the eyes of when Neil Molly was trying and bill used erode from a grandfather father and he's waffling and trying to of course and was the leading trainer in the Central District at the Are Yeah I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to go with them and having billy as mentor and a God was instrumental in more development as a jockey because as I said it was very unnatural to me because I'd never had really any any experience in the professional sort of horseracing had Google's at the guy was fosters you could when you're young fellow on great holes for night absolutely tight control and bought with you but you can learn so much experiences remember I began with one and let it rip you thought all that adrenaline at the I was actually in the Paddick Moore other with the main and I didn't quote now what else in for to be honest when we winner in we've done a favorite a half pice together but we'd never really let one go yeah I'll never actually forget that the win going through the skull Cap and was a bit a little bit fraud to be honest but you'd left the Albanian edgy he was distant well he sort of went off before he saw Moore horse teams but all wasn't quite ready for the experience as a bit yeah also bit it goes through but it was something that certainly got more adrenaline going and students today who'd you love who'd you love growing up we gotta have role models to simulate the why we want to go about it and get your first period Jodi get your new helmet and then all of a sudden you rod in trawls as an apprentice then you get your ticket who is sitting back on the couch just white and have that I the rice is in Washington going to be that jockey wouldn't be Rice's Darren Beadman Darren beadman and billy I suppose when I was in Ba'athist but before I started my apprenticeship Darren and shine door were dominating the group uh-huh and I were the two that really captured more attention what was it a bad behavior in that you loved just the just he's strengths and he's consistency but as I said it as a four thousand fifteen year old I wasn't really paying attention local would these days but I guess the success and the fact that he in China just come on the best drawers and it was just tit for tat as to who got on the best one and I almost took it in turns chemically c'mon babe and left Android and slip it used to run a little bit short on up as underneath the chain the at the flower hey the billy Oughta look yeah I wasn't as attracted to the show on the white shine Reuters posed Darren because it familiar to say no little actual but he's a hall of Famer and he was very effective at it but familiar personally it was something that I couldn't see myself emulating Iraq and foot knee on Huey a lot of the guys Roy with the bull the Atto side that's Moi that's more for the ball at the guys across the Bolo Tie and that's the that's it what you'd like to rob with your foot running wise APP Well to be honest when I'll start to do that that's had billy road and that's sad download to in the early days I think he ended up running these telling you towards the end but certainly when all star he had full for me on but was always instructed Nelin certain terms they're all Mahfoud foot me on and that's exactly what I did and when I moved to see me after being to successfully easy and buses Leeann and billy we moved to Sydney in all of these more chance to develop into one of the big voice started drawing McCowan the on how to hold stumble was also Tallinn's actually that it just stumbled at the four hundred million American rain we can call Aubert's Hayden are truly believe foof four foot in the on or wouldn't have fallen off it so after six weeks on the saw lawns mirthless six weeks hurt mnay that welcome back back in and of never changed that was it suits you and your stall he say you move from the country the city it's a big big landscape China for you and fast hard but um took two thousand and nine nine year two thousand nine hundred eighty nine hundred ninety nine I should say in two thousand dollars rising seasons in two years year apprenticeship you become Laden apprentice you must have had great opportunities but made the most of it well how did great opportunity had a great granting hundred hundred wieners in the country opinion to Sydney to Rome Quinton in done in Raleigh June nineteen on as it was you just said and I had a great deal of experience but harm you had no country climbing provincial climbing to three kilo climate the city nail was the beneficiary of system charged with offenses which split the categories up to country provincial and city so a regained three kilo alantic provincials and obviously sustain the three kilo climate the country so that that guy I mean eighty winners decline that I wouldn't have had well it didn't have one on issues moved to Sydney so that that really opened the door for opportunity the deformity and yeah I'll think road at provincial Saturday meetings Kimmel Newcastle for four weeks once we got started within the ninety nine season and on the road three three trebles onto doubles and then of course the big boys went to Melbourne yep more opportunity in this in Sydney and had a great season winning the apprentices total exterior winners I think you might be able to help these sad Answer these questions what did we put apprentice on more Victoria and not in Sydney I think the cease to be different into the you've got more dominant China Zied me was even the case back then you had waterhouse and hawks dominating so if it suited them to use an apprentice I would but I tend to use the jockeys and that same sort of dominance has continued on in Sydney with a small number of China's dominating but also the realities the apprentices system in Victoria is far better than UCF wild north thing as much as writing ucs while I was gonNA heading every area that's one area that that all on the boards a working on but it certainly

Stop Losing Your Data with Brian Gill

"Thanks for coming on the show so I am I am interested in talking to you today because we really haven't had a guest talk about some of the topics that we're going to talk about today but why don't we start off a little bit with who you are and what you do yeah sure so without going into full back story. well I basically have surround myself with a bunch of really quality humans and together for the last sixteen years my primary mission has been to help the people out of data related disasters whether that's bad guys infiltrating network or data being stolen or a server crashing or making mistake and accidentally deleting all the pictures of their wedding or baby photos we are a bunch of Tech nerds who do everything we can to to help people out of those crises and also once they've kind of experienced those crises we help them either back up or sometimes they'll hire us as if they got hacked they'll hire us as we call it a part time see so or come in and do Kinda monthly risk assessments to help them prevent the next attack so you know it's just helping people out of Disasters Gotcha yeah well I mean as as somebody who has lost all of his photos and music for all of our music was in the cloud on a streaming service I can definitely level with that like after that happened to me I made sure to get an external hard drive live and of course today I have like a time machine on my Mac and back blaze and Nass and just like lots of things 'cause I I've been in that situation what I haven't been in is A well what my company or my clients knock on wood haven't really been involved in stuff like data-breach so it sounds like you do some of the more personal personal computing problems right data loss and recovery the recovery side of our business we founded back in two thousand four and we that's the data recovery company and that company it's a mix you know maybe forty percent of our clients are just normal people consumers who lost their personal data on a laptop or they dropped their phone toilet or you know that kind of stuff maybe thirty percent are small business owners with maybe one to fifty employees had a server crash or a chief executive ever accounting professional had a laptop hard drive crash or an SSD go bad and then the other third is large corporate America the government you know we've done recoveries for almost eighty percents of the Federal Bureau so it's pretty much everybody loses data on the data brief side of things we almost would I don't WanNa say never our average size client who got data breached is probably a hundred to five hundred employees may sometimes even larger for the for the micro sized businesses who get breached they're less likely to need an army of nerds to come in in an address that situation you know yeah yeah absolutely so so you you serve all sorts of people doing all sorts of things but I wanna get I wanna get back to the basics a little bit in your intro here so I also I have my degree in computer science I have a masters in software engineering and I went the web development path I when I was in college in Highschool I read like Kevin Mitnick's books and I thought man I really want to do that but ah I decided to go the other route what made you want to get into this particular field yeah I mean in general I got my computer science degree from University Wisconsin and that was like right before the first big tech bubble the first day web one point no and I jumped on a plane a and went out to the Silicon Valley and really wanted to play the startup game and joined a couple of startups one of them's still around that were you know involved with ECOMMERCE and that kind of stuff and you know I was primarily on the back end development style database design and things of that nature and a lot of back end programming I my four was not my forte was not the kind of user experience all of that's kind of changed over the years when that whole economy just imploded and all the valley was horrible place I mean I would say eighty percent of my friends were out of work I had a job but it wasn't star was in a bank so I had a job but it wasn't the type the job that I moved out there for so I kind of tucked my tail between my legs and say well I'm GonNa work at a bank I might as well do it in Wisconsin from from immoral my family is my brother had just had a couple of kids and I wanted to be there for that and I just wipe the three thousand dollars often read so I I talked tail between my legs Humpback Wisconsin and was just doing some consulting some really boring but wonderful companies like insurance companies and cheese manufacturers and all kinds of words and I really wanted to start a company right but the Donovan was in the crapper there was zero percent chance of getting any kind of bank loan so I knew I needed to do something that I could bootstrap uh with like the fifty grand that had saved up you know so whatever I was going to do I needed to be able to get to revenue within my within my budget right because it's just I wasn't going to get an angel financing I wasn't GonNa Fifty Thousand Dollars Angel Financing for a new idea they were going to take if your business back then it was just a horrible time to be an entrepreneur so my brother tyler younger brother Tyler was going to school at University Wisconsin ucf degree he's about nine years younger than me and he had a hard drive crash so he was trying to figure out how do I get my stuff back and he found two companies in the whole us that advertised for it and both of them wanted like three thousand dollars and that was like again exactly you know turns out it's pretty hard but we had the right circle of friends we had one of my buddies was an electrical engineer ear one of my buddies was a mechanical engineer I had the computer science and kind of ECOMMERCE background and we kind of had all the pieces of the the kind of academic puzzle so the next question is okay so there's very few competitors in the two that are out there that we could find were very prohibitively expensive so could we start a company for less than fifty grand learn enough about how to do this that we could serve underserved part of the market right and get it off the ground and and that's kind of where it came from and turns out we could that's fantastic I love that I have I have a similar story of how I got into web development you know essentially my church came to me and they said we want a website and I said I don't know how to do that and then we'll pay you and Mike are okay sweet money's yeah

Students graduating in these states are drowning in loan debt

"All right if you are new to the show this by the way is the most popular segment of the show with Tony saw on the news and much like Chris as I scour the news throughout the course of the week I try and put aside couple articles that pertain to what we do here on the radio show or that I think would be of interest to folks and this is something near kinda sort of that we've talked about before on the show in various forms Chris yeah but this comes from USA today this was just the other day you not you Chris but you of you listening may have seen this yourself if you get USA today or USA today online about one fifth of millennials and we talk about millennials a lot here on the program and not necessarily in a negative way like some people do but just because they're the next generation to save up for retirement and it's a big you know get to where we are absolutely one fifth of millennials expect to be financially reliant on of their parents into their thirties ally and the other reason we talk about millennials a lot is because Chris and I have millennials yes we do all right now the second half of this is about us so one fifth of millennials expect to be financially reliant on their parents into their thirties and most parents say it's embarrassing if their kids are still on their payroll at the age of twenty seven twenty seven now you and I were actually talking a little bit about this during the break and we came to the conclusion that maybe twenty seven is like the new twenty one yeah well it's only six years difference right when we were growing up it was like twenty one that's it your twenty one year man you're on your own you know right so at twenty one I was still in college so my parents like paid for my car insurance and helped out of course but we didn't have cell phones we don't have all the stuff right so you I I guess you look at it and you say you know sixteen driver's license eighteen can you drink when you're eighteen no not a twenty one twenty one right you can drink right twenty seven you have to stop taking money from mom right that's just the way life works that's crazy if your kids yeah I gotta pay for your kids Stiller twenty seven if they're not in school if they're in school and I get it well and that's where parents a cutting them off because a lot of the millennials think they'll be living with their parents into their thirties but a lot of parents are saying no no no twenty seven that's it the study examines the state of young adults money habits and attitudes in the United States the data suggests that young Americans are powering through a series of financial challenges including a lack of budgeting and decreasing savings tied to mounting student loan debt you know you keep hearing about student loan debt all over the place and Mike my question is at what point do we have a break even situation where we say you know what it cost so much to go to school the same worth it to go to school anymore but and not only that but you have options to this is something else we've talked about on the show when you know planning Hey Chris I both have kids in college right planning for your children to go to college is a major major financial undertaking sure you know and you keep hearing about all this mounting debt college loans and everything but you have a choice I'll use myself as an example okay you know my son is going to a different school than we thought it was going to go to just because I was a lot more financially advantageous sure you know so people do have the option like yeah this is a great school but it cost sixty thousand dollars a year if you go to a state school in state school at least for us here in Florida maybe it costs twenty thousand a year right and guess what if you go to community college or whatever they call it now state schools state college you know it costs maybe five thousand a year right you know so so there's ways to do it you're saying without unnecessarily bankrupting the whole family right right yeah and I that's right but I also think that there you got to focus on now some people are gonna hate me for this but you gotta focus on majors that have potential of paying you in the future I agree with what you're saying to at what point like if you're going to go to a school the cost forty or fifty thousand dollars a year to be water want to single anyone out an engineer but now if let's say you go to a really expensive school and you major in something that you know is not necessarily going to pay a lot of money right like you go to a some big some some big school you pay fifty thousand dollars you're going to be a social worker or something right you know and as social workers are important yeah yeah yeah nothing against the socially organised but you're sixty thousand dollars to become a social worker you're gonna make twenty seven thousand dollars a year in your tech companies fifteen top right then you got a problem as far as trying to pay that back and that's why you're living in mom and dad's basement right right but we don't have basements here in Florida so that means that they have to live on the main level which became all the more paying fifty sixty thousand dollars a year for you know a political science major and then you're going to figure out what you're going to do with that degree right you know general studies I mean you know maybe you shouldn't go to a school that's that expensive unless you have a real specific high paying career that you focused on right so we got people graduating from college that are on the payroll of the parents but then also we have situations now where the parents are having to take care of their parents right right right that's the other side of this story there is actually a generation people around our age that they called the sandwich generation now huh which means you're sandwiched in between taking care of your adult kids and taking care of your elderly parents while but there's a lot of people listening there in that situation yeah that is a rough rough situation to be in yeah hi I wonder if if it would make sense you know I I have seen things like I I have a son at UCF and I get all of these announcements Sir notifications of these things that they have boot camps coding boot camps have you seen these yes so if for like ten grand they're going to teach you how to code in certain languages and then they say with that information you can just go off and get a job doing that which is a pretty cool deal but they're kind of St you don't need that I guess you're not saying this but they're giving you an opportunity to get a skill that will allow you to get into the work force and you don't have to take classes in history and yelled language and all of those are the kinds of things that some people just don't really want to do right and that can really reduce your costs there but when you think about somebody that is is trying to figure out how to generate an income but doesn't know Sir I want to spend fifty or sixty thousand dollars on college maybe a boot camp you should think about this a great segue is is trading I mean what if what if up a parent and their child came trial I see child adult adult child right actually came to the academy and figured out how to treat together that's a great idea right let's say you're a millennial I don't know I just pick ace let's say your twenty six years old you still living at home you're at a school you living at home with your parents you hate it you want to get out on your own and now you parents hate the fact that your twenty six years old

But I kind of felt like Lenny should be a little more. Like I thought that at the end there's a scene where I'm walking through the office like a now I have that UCF or whatever, and I thought I should have just walked by a desk and Lenny should've been typing at the desk, just casually. Lenny's ask someone. First of all, I was told to ask that by Billy. What do you mean? You were Lenny ask that question. I asked you questions for Lenny. Lenny didn't ask right now. If we're really gonna show by the Kurt, and then Billy asked me, and then I gave him that. So we're coming full circle here, you, bow vessel. You. And I can't just like for even a moment. We reveal too much. He sent Lenny a treat right now. Do you still do that or now with the first thing? Yeah. Right now he's staying at the pet Orting place where that has to celebrity dogs. We didn't like arguing. Hold on. Use it to surveil him. What do you mean to celebrity dogs is Lenny, one of the celebrity dogs? Now I'm not even counting lists. So are these dogs of famous people? These are famous dogs. They're famous one of them has an Instagram that has more followers than me the dog that stays at the Peterson's dog. Wow. He's really good friends with her which is what is jock Peterson's, dog's name Pearson blue. Yeah. Luby's bragging about the right like the dodgers me, so blue Peterson Lenny and actually this dog recently stopped Orting there. But Dangelo Russell's dog was outside the part of the crew. What was the angel Russell's dog's name? I don't know. It was like some tough dog name because it was like a big dog. Feel that we got off easy with Lenny today, but, you know, I always feel when he's not here. And I'm just relying the message. I dance your question. I don't really know what the most brutal question. He's asked before Dominique gets it pretty 'cause he can like take it. He gets some pretty hard hitting. So every time Dominique comes on. Lenny just goes atom. He goes at everyone, but repeated times like they don't get a pass. Now. People get really upset when he doesn't get to answer. Ask a question is Lenny aggressive in person? Yes. Wow. I was lining with other dogs, if I'm there bad. But if I'm not he's cool. It's like a dog stuff. You know, not really okay him at three. Yeah. He was three and he still had his balls. On that note. Hey guys, I wanna tell you about new podcast from one degree called sports wars that re introduces you to.

"Where you remember that game the heartbreaking one against Carolina your second year where you remember it with pride as opposed to with disappointment and having long, well, there's a sense of pride when you look back in. There's you understand that everybody doesn't get a chance to make it to that point. So you appreciate everything that you've got accomplish. But you never get over losing as an athlete I ever. That's what every athlete tells me, and I believe in. I hope those kids from UCF are someday able to look back with great pride on that game because they play. So wet losing hurts more sticks with you way longer than any victory. That's like somebody kicking you in the book. You remember it more than people? Pat you on the back. We will take a short break on that thought as we continue what action of the Browns player when they traded for. I will ask whatever they're young stars. He's in our studio. That's coming up. You're watching get up on ESPN. Goal taker gets quick he walked, Jim. Sweet choukou. Fox up a ca- to push your question. David enjoyed going. The Cleveland Browns are looking awfully good around their quarterback. Baker Mayfield two through twenty seven touchdowns as a rookie last year. Most by Browns quarterback at eleven years led the team to wins and five of their final seven games. They have Nick Chubb who rushed for just about a thousand yards last year at one hundred yards in two of the Browns. Final three games. They of course, have a dynamic duo of receiver of Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry who've combined for seven Pro Bowl selections in their careers and David joke who the tight end was in our studio yesterday here on ghetto. Edward thrilled to have David Joko when our studio here on get up. Thank you for coming. And let me just start right at the top. When you when you first heard Odell Beckham junior is a Cleveland Brown. What was the first thought that went through your mind complete excitement? You know? Now, we have so many more weapons on offense including weapons behind last year. So we're we're really excited for this. Is it complete surprise? Did. You have any inkling that was on the way I had a an idea here and there, but I'm really happy. This happened. Have you had conversations with Jarvis battered? Obviously, those two are great friends, and whatever recruiting went on or whatever the case may be what have you heard about Odal from his longtime fan Jarvis Landry. He's a extreme competitor. "And I thought I guys did a good job of that. But you know, they're just they're just so explosive. They have so many weapons out there at all times. And they're getting better. I can see they're getting better through this ornament. Experience from from the first game draw game and the plan for a lot of confidence. We'll see Friday they take on Virginia Tech. I would like to have you here for just a moment. Play. You something else that will said on our show yesterday. This was Jay Williams yesterday live here on get up. I think I've just seen the next head coach at Duke University. Now when coach decides to retire when that time comes I don't think there's anybody better. Maybe maybe Tommy amateur, but I will put giant dolphins right there that really has a humility the poise in the confidence of next head coach of Duke. So that was Jay Williams today said that he thinks you could be the next coach of Duke whenever it is that coach K decides that that his time there is done. What is your reaction to J Wilson that? You know, you always flattered to hear people talk to you talk about you that way, but you know, coach go way way back, and you I know I couldn't imagine coats net being Duke University. And and that that thought is deferred this from my mind to be quite Frank. I've loved my experience dad loved playing for kosher. I've loved working for him at Duke, and I love Duke. But you know, that's the furthest thing from my mind is thinking about who is going to be next coast here. I plan on CNN there for a long time when that sideline because I believe he should should be there for quite some time and wherever he chooses, and they athletic director chooses to take the helm after him. You know, I'm all for it. They will have my full support. No matter what happens Dawkins. It was an incredible game on Sunday. Thank you so much for your time. And your thoughts this morning. We really appreciate it. Enjoy. And I hope we'll see you again soon. Eight thanks, Mike. You guys take care. Great to have him here. I'm gonna bring it out to the table here. Jalen and Tron farnum who covers college basketball all season long force. What did you make of that? There Johnny Dawkins. I lost like that. You know to bring it all the way back to the beginning of the conversation as you go back to whatever the toughest loss of your career was what do you remember about it? Well from his interview to elephant in the room as we saw defensive adjustment. Yeah. Let Jones shoot he put a seven foot six guy on a plane guard that's potentially going to be a first round draft pick in NBA, which to me expose the fact that he should probably come back to school for another season. It's always tough to lose an unfortunate for me. I got a lot of experience of it in the NCAA finals. But I'll tell you what the memories that. You got it from your team and your coaching staff, they live forever. I love about the video of them in the locker room is that's what is right in sports. There is a there's togetherness there is a brotherhood where when you step in that locker room. There's there's a mutual respect amongst everybody in that room for the experiences that you share not just on in front of the national television audience the tournament, but at practices on airplanes. I can tell you some of my best experiences at UCLA was hanging out with Baron Davis or Watson and Matt Barnes. And all those guys off the court at the NCAA tournament in Atlanta going to the underground mall. Like imbalan- hats that didn't even look good that he would never want us to wear ever again. But those those are the moments and that those tears those are real don't sell yourself short. The hats look terrific on you. But very I always wondered this about athletes because many Jay Bilas has told me he's never gotten over losing that championship game. Have you ever gotten no point in your life?.

"We're very fortunate that every year Dan, dockage says to us he has the colony after we finally say, would you stop yelling Alaska's we keep bothering you is alright we wear them down. He says whenever you two idiots need me to talk some hoops educate you on the NCAA tournament in college basketball. And there for us for the last several years, then is joined us every Monday vowing selection, Sunday, then into the Sweet Sixteen and into the final four and championship. And all that great stuff in Danny joins us right now on ESPN one thousand. So what was your biggest takeaway? From the Duke you UCF game. Dan. Oh, man. Boys. I think they missed a hook. And hold. And the only reason I even complain about set is because that was such a point event. Says. But you gotta win. You gotta make plays. You got four point lead your to on one. You throw a live. It gets. I mean, there's no reason to lava thermic south play make a layup or hold it. You got to block out on a free throw guy pushes you. Maybe there's a he'll go get the ball. And then you gotta tip in the win it. I mean, if you're gonna if you're gonna be two or you're going to be Carolina, or you're gonna be you're gonna beat Virginia. You gotta make plays at the end of the game. And I get it people are gonna say well, there was a push. Well, you know, what can hoping I'll give you because that is. Well, it's one of the things that I've met liked about college basketball, but they have called it a ton. And you know, make a play. Zayn made a play. Went to the rim. Got fog at an an one look like Barrett. Made a play bear went and got a rebound. Knocked it in go make a play beat them. And then you move on. There you go. Danny was that game more a just result of UCF FINA? Really good basketball team and well coached and delivering prior to the final thirty or fifteen seconds of the game was Duke off their Mark in any way that you you could see no I think the first time I think I think the former not the latter man, I think that UCF is veteran team doctor's been in college for eight years. I swear I swear to God taco fall. I did a game like my roommate was seven four to two hundred and sixty pounds in college. The great vape, blah and taco fall Dorsey, I've never seen like a big and white. He is in his shoulders. No, I think there was a great game plan. I mean, look, and they stuck with it. Hey, fellas up three tackle falls guarding trae Jones. So talk all in lane clocks running down. And they don't care. They're coming out with trade shows. He's going to have to make a shot. It's done me. How they stay with their game plan. And then at the end as I said Williamson just went in and made a play. But I thought it was great coaching do cannot shoot. The basketball. Duke relies on two guys are too often. Pacino what Duke is still alive and kickin. And UCF isn't even though UCF giant did a great job better. Name taco faller away. Blob? Oh, man. That's a tough one there. 'cause tackle fall. You can go so many ways Taco Bell who could be his Royal. In the blob is just such a big thing for being seven foot two and red hare. It's a tie. It's a push. I I got it at a pick em. All right. That's good. So do you think the Duke is vulnerable going forward, Danny because look at the first two games? They shot the ball better from behind the arc than they did during the year. Water fine just level, boys. And eventually you're going to be who you are. I definitely think that fumble. Here's the thing when we act like the nineteen seventy six Indiana hoosiers who went undefeated seventy five and seven I mean, okay. Scott bunch of young guys, man. They can definitely get beat. I don't think that this is a team that's gonna win a bunch of games by thirty. You know, I think this team I think just a flawed team. I think shooting is what I would be surprised like I would not be surprised. Let's let's put it this way in the next game. If you don't see this kid, Alex O'Connell playing and they put him in the corner as their five men and say, all right shoe because the truth of the matter is you're gonna see people playoff. You're gonna see Virginia Tech playoff. Virginia Tech has a kid named blacks. Sure that can guard the bucket. So you're gonna have to put some shooters out there the gold wire kid, I think that's his name can't shoot. He really good tough. Nice player but can't make a bucket. Trae Jones is out there can't make a bucket. Barrett. Can't really make a bucket. They don't run anything for reddish. So you need another guy. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid Alex Will Carling number fifteen doesn't play a bunch in this next game shots against Virginia Tech. So where are you right now on Zion? As far as the pros are concerned has he totally separated himself from everybody in the conversation. Fire any coach is trying to win right now at the bottom of the traps or top draft. Fire. Don't you shouldn't try to win? You're starting to get Zeile. Are you kidding? Making a full, okay. This week all of us need to get off at Jim boylans back. Okay. Anybody who's trying to win needs to be fired while mister you just fired the bulls head coach who you like I'm not firing the bulls head coach Jim boylans, the only of these coaches that you continue to try to win 'cause you're not getting a number one pick. Anyway, why Jimmy be keep doing your thing? You're not because it's going to be your worst record. So it's going to be like a point what seventy ten fifteen percent. Anymore with this? I get frustrated. Also. Back to your point. I mean, I will the rest of my time out time to you. The best. He's the best. And it's not in my opinion. I get the job Moran. We like, and I do like, I think he's got a weird combination of of athletic, ability and vision, you rarely see guys that are great athletes. People told me this long time ago, you really see guys with great athletes that have fantastic vision in basketball. And when you do it all time. Great Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson. Jordan had really really really good vision bird at great vision was a much better athlete than anybody would ever give him credit for particularly laterally. So no, I think John Marantz fantastic. But there's a lot of. No, I don't know. To me. They're very very few. If any. Zayn williamson. And if you get a chance to get signed Williamson up man taking it wouldn't even be. I would it would be like all right? We have the first pick. I would already put the piece of paper, and that cost me more money down the road sign here. Give me let's figure it out later. I I'm with you on that. I still would be excited as a bulls fan to get Moran. I heard an interesting take from Jordan cornet or teammate here at ESPN one thousand I think it was Thursday or Friday. He said what John Ryan did the first two games of the tournament in his first two games was sorta like he's pro day for a lot of these players that. Yeah, he did it at Murray. But now, let's see do it again when you're the underdog, and when you got better athletes on the corner, and he put up a triple double in game one and then game too. He was magnificent especially in the early going of the game. I totally believe that I think Jordan cornet is to be believed. No matter what he says. And he's very smart. But here's the deal with the NBA. Here's how the NBA would look at that. The NBA would say okay well against Marquette. There wasn't one NBA player on the court. But you can tell me Markus Howard is I'll tell you Jim for dead and a number of other guys. That's how be guys look at. I agree with what you're saying. I agree that people would say, I looked raising your level you're up to a little higher level. And you still did it. So let me put it this way. It only enhanced in Jordan is absolutely right. But I'm just telling you how NBA guys look at it. It's like all right. Well, there's really no NBA guys court. There may not be other than maybe. Kevin Kelly an NBA guys Florida state. That's just how they look at it. And that's how they should look at it, quite frankly, but I agree with George. I think that you know, what they're gonna be questions. You're in the ovi-. See you're not you're not a big test. All of a sudden you come out, and here's a big east team. You're just destroy. Mean killing them. And then you do the same thing pretty much at least for a while against Florida state. He definitely helped himself, but but there's gonna be there is going to be a long long way to go before anybody settles in on exactly where John Miranda's..

"That tip in rolled off the ramming and that UCF game. Do all I'm saying is I saw the rim band a little bit. Early conspiracy theories. But I am now spreading a very wild. Conspiracy theory that. Ball would have gone in if the rim and not been remotely controlled by some outside force that had a reason to make sure that Duke continue to roll on in the tournament. I'm just I'm just saying Billy Packers rolling over in his grave. Goes I'm telling you CBS, man. The tournament. Think about this right now, they're sixteen teams still alive. Fourteen of the top sixteen seeds are still in one's a five seat. And the other one's Oregon. I mean that and and for the first time ever all the betting favorites over the weekend. So every one of them one. Now, they didn't cover the spread duping one of the examples, but but the betting favourite every favorite one over the weekend sixteen for sixteen. So if you money lined all the favorites she would have been undefeated. So the madness rod. It's all mad. That's all marketing. But actually what's good, though, is I think there are some quality teams that are moved on. So as far as you like better. Yeah. If you like better basketball, I'm kind of happy about you know, said this on the first day of the tournament all the number one seed, so the jet. Number two seeds. And I'll play. Half seventy five percent of the number three seeds or legit. And once you get past that, it's all just flotsam and jetsam. But but somebody might have a good day. Yeah. Oregon has had themselves a couple of good days. Auburn has had themselves a good tournament. But by and large the top three seeds. They get those right. Have been the best teams over the course of the year. Once you get past that it is just hey who's had a good season. How did we slot? These guys in for maximum, television fact. Yeah. Because let's let's be clear whether we're talking about the NCAA tournament. Or the NFL playoffs. Is all a television show. That's it. That's all. And how do you get people to pay attention? How do you get them to watch other than gambling manufacturing drama? That's where it's not an accident that Kelvin Sampson university of Houston coach, they get into the Sweet Sixteen and who do they face in the first round Kentucky. That's not an accident. That was designed Patino, son. Again, the first round Minnesota against. Against louisville. They didn't draw those names out of a hat. They didn't draw those teams out of a head. That was absolutely designed why for maximum drama for television. Actually, that's what it is. I'm and I'm I'm not casting aspersions on my saying, it's a bad thing understand that this is all about television drama. Yeah. And then they get through the first couple of weeks and now you've got a legitimate tournament. And here we go for it. I would always say, and I have to recant now that I'm gonna take the worst NBA game over a college game. I just like watching NBA basketball the guys were much better except for Saturday night from. I don't need to see that game. I hit the EJ button midway through the second quarter went back to my college basketball. Yeah. That's no. Because we'll get we'll get you had to stay for it. Compensated for four years. I'm sorry. You had to stay for bounced out. People will talk to to Jim. And you're like man, you know, the warriors didn't make the playoffs for seventeen out of eighteen years, and guys, you know, still hung in there and won Emmys and did other stuff and put on a Representative broadcast. But I was reminded of all of that Saturday. Whoa. Two thousand when they went to and thirty nine to finish off the air. Here's something that I know you will find enjoyable because I found it enjoyable, and I think a lot of warrior fans will find this note enjoyable so the warriors win last night what happened Saturday night that's one of eighty to get back on track. I know talking deck. Check out of sight out of mind, you beat the pistons last night. Remember when I said, by the way, last week that Blake Griffin out of he's a piston to me seem likable. I was completely and totally wrong about that. Let's saying do the same. He's a better player. He's playing great basketball. But that's the same do. So warriors fifty plus wins in each of the last six seasons. Right. Hurry. Hey, well, don't that's a big deal. No, it's a very big big deal. But you know, what is almost as big of a deal. Lakers have missed the playoffs over the last sixty to great heights and the Lakers still fumbling around missing the playoffs for six could sensitive. We have that one of the faceoff rumba. When when Tommy came in like, wouldn't it be great if the Lakers in the warriors were both good like, no. But I I get Tommy's point. I get his point of the warriors and the Lakers being good in having those two teams. Drummer rivalry. That is born out of playoff. Like you had with the clippers. It'd be great. And we we say the same thing. It's not gonna happen this year because they were young team. And they've blown for many more years. King. Great. So I get Tommy sport or anybody's point of you'd like to see the warriors in the Lakers battle it out for for west coast basketball supremacy is that would be fun. But the idea of the league is better. If you have the Lakers be good. And didn't know you kick rocks with that you could miss me completely with that. But if you want to see the Lakers at their best and the warriors at their best because that's never happened. And that would be the beginning of a basketball rivalry that we've had here in northern California with football. And and in baseball, obviously, I could definitely get that. But the Lakers being good for the sake of just the Lakers being good now A lot of people that left that warrior Laker Christmas day game. And a lot of Laker fans were really kind of feeling themselves, and can you blame him? No. But they were twenty and fourteen they just beating the warriors and a deer again, all frisky. And how never today expect that a guy who has seemingly indestructible? Would mess up is growing on that day and completely and totally foul up. The Lakers plans for making the place, which I don't wish for anyone to get hurt. But oh, isn't that too bad? Yeah. So to me, you know, Lakers warriors being good. Yeah. Like ten years snobby fine. They get you know, maybe. Five six more years. The Lakers missed the playoffs. That'd be great. Now. The Lakers are they'll get Anthony Davis and Jimmy Butler, whatever they'll get DeMarcus cousins or something they'll they'll be better next year. But I'm enjoying the six straight years of the Lakers Spitz. Doesn't make me sad. I think it's fantastic. Although what are the clippers doing tricking around getting up to the five seed, come on, Doc Rivers? We're thinking short plane flights here. What are you doing to me? Clippers man. Talk about a team better than the sum of its parts are playing hard and playing well, they they've got a bit of a soft schedule, and they're just cleaning teams up. So but no for the warriors. They'll take the take the w last.

"As you get ready for this one. You have to probably have a few guys from Duke reaching out to you, right? It's been relatively quiet to be quite Frank. Oh, God, it's been relatively quiet. But they don't want to give the scouting report. Coach know exactly I haven't had a lot of time to to to really, you know, you know, look at my phone and deal with that as much as you can imagine, you know, between you know, playing really late game game was at nine forty. And then then after that tire dot the quick turnaround having to start studying for for Duke. So as you know, we've been we've been just grinding. And that's kinda how this time of year is so, you know, I'm sure everyone realizes that as well. Last one for you coach, and we appreciate the time Johnny Dawkins here with Gaza coach of UCF the nights will play Duke Sunday five fifteen PM eastern coming off their victory against VCU, everyone that doesn't have a side in this one Duke or UCF is going to be looking at the possibility of Zion trying to dunk on taco fall is it possible to dunk over taco. With possibly Delco anybody as you note seven six though, that's just it's just it's just timing and and timing and being in the right place in the wrong place. Then the Dow still can occur. No matter who you are. So I just I like I said I mean, I heard some of that. And and you know, I don't really get caught up in those things. The main things we have to play our defense away where used to playing it. They're going to run their offense the way they used to running it. And and then we just see what happens. But, you know, that's that's that's how you know overwhelming concerned about us playing, you know, good UCF defense. Coach incredible job this season. We hope it continues. Best to what coming up on Sunday. Thank you for the time. Hey, thank you. Gotta take care. Appreciate coach Johnny Dawkins. Joining us right there on CBS sports radio. Can you imagine? His team later today defeats Duke. Yeah. You have a Duke legend. Defeating Duke if that does happen and when coach K's favorite players ever. That'd be something with all due respect UCF program. And they've had a lot of moments that athletic department football basketball over the last few years. I don't see them being the team that takes down Duke in my bracket. I did pick due to it at all up against Kentucky. I had Texas Tech. Coming out of the bottomless and then the top, right? I had Virginia so Virginia Kentucky beating up and then Duke, Texas Tech meeting up and then the little do Kentucky National championship game of Duke winning at all. That would be something though, if doc in squad. Did take down Duke and told them the biggest key to that game is getting off to a fast start and that may not be enough. But if you go down ten points early to Duke, you have no shot in the basketball game. So I'm hoping it's going to be a fun one. Because when we come back, you sometimes hear things that are said when you have an event because people expected to be some way, but they don't turn out to be the way that you actually think about it..

They did take down VCU by a final score of seventy three to fifty eight that will set up a date on Sunday at five fifteen pm eastern against the number one overall seed in the Duke blue devils now joining us on the hotline is the head coach of the UCF nights. Also played at Duke nine hundred eighty six Naismith player of the year. And also did spend a bunch of years coaching under my chef ski at Duke as well. Let's it out to the hotline and welcome in Johnny Dawkins right now the head coach at UCF coach first off, congratulations. Thank you for making a few minutes for us. And how are you? Now problem, I'm doing fine. Thanks for coming on. And that was a huge win for your program. The other night almost fifty percent from the field. Three point shot was falling. You beat VCU by fifteen and also it's the programs. First win in the NC double A tournament take us through with that win means. And also how proud of you of the fellas forgetting that victory for the university. Well, it's definitely meaning for win for us. Because like I said just the first team ever have accomplished that I think it's great five programs. Great for these players the things we talked about when I first joined the program three years ago and kinda come to fruition. These guys are part of it in their senior year. That's seniors. I'm really really happy for him have been able to watch a little bit of your program throughout the years being an alum of temple university. And I've watched a lot of the American athletic conference, a very underrated conference in my opinion. A player though that a lot of people have fallen in love with has been taco fall. And it's one thing to see him develop into the player. He's become thirteen points in eighteen rebounds in the dunks are fun to watch as well. But it seems that the person is a lot more special speak to us a little bit on the growth of taco falls supplier. And then also the person that he is. Well, the player is been, you know, been tremendous over the last three years, I've watched him rages level. Ever since we had them. He's gotten better now because it is work ethic. He wants to be a great player, and he put a lot of time watching develop defensively is movement. Quickey is reacting to situations. Of course, we're protecting. He's going to do offensively. I watched him, you know, redevelop, his low poll skills, he can finish around the basket. You don't have to dunk everything in order to score. You can make plays the ball out of the post. Well, I really watched him improve their leadership is really grown. He's really taking ownership of the team, which is great. I the person needs a beautiful young man wanted best chance to coach. And I post a lot of great, you know, bad and he's right up at the top of the best the best that I've had a chance to coach. So really really love who is the person off the court Monday nicest guys, you'll ever wanna meet engaging. You know, he has the ability to connect with people. He has an intellectual curiosity may just a beautiful young, man. So I've been fortunate to have coached him for three years, we all know the importance the back court does play in the NC double A tournament and in college basketball tough to top BJ Taylor. And then also your son and Aubrey dock ins how has that been coaching your song? I've been great coach my son. You know, I've loved every minute of it. You know, not, you know, people say, you know, they had opportunity I should coach him. And I'm glad I did. You know, we we've had a we've shared a great experience during this run all season long. He's kind of really understood you know, what we're trying to accomplish. Because he knows me the best. I think he'd be great in the locker room message from a player's perspective. And he's been a great teammate teammates love, you know, he's a team guy. And and real fortunate to have them when our program and BJ, of course, it specialists well from the standpoint of who years, you know, he's a young man who who's from Orlando. So he's home grown. So him experienced the first avenue for him the first ever being named first team all AFC I ever winning in the NC double A tournament. And he stayed there to to help, you know, take a team, you know, to to the point that we are now. And so to actually see that come, you know, come to life. Bullivant to the Sweet Sixteen we know your relationship with coach K. Larry Brown once told me, it's never fun to coach against people you love and people that are very close to you. I understand if both your teams are meeting the NC double A toward him in. It's been a successful season. What are the emotions though that you're feeling going up against coach K someone that you obviously love and respect greatly. Well, no, absolutely. You couldn't have said it best coach Brown. He understands that. Well, what what what is coaching tree? I'm sure an NFL. You look forward to doing. We had our druthers we wouldn't schedule each other naturally just unavoidable in tournament situations, and and we all have to do our job, you know, for our respective program. So they both both of us will be locked in on the game plan and and getting out young man prepared as best we can. But it's one of those things when you win you win you're excited if your guys, and you can keep moving on, but disappointed of, you know, your friends, you know, because you realize that, you know, they're no longer impeding. So and if and if you lose, of course, you already know very disappointed because you didn't. Win, and you know, long, you know, in this tournament, you know, your season's over. So it's it's a tough situation for I think coaching that that, you know, really good relationships, but we all understand it. It is a part of our our our game. And and we have to prepare for it that way for me growing up. We were always told Duke is the crime de LA creme of college basketball and coach K not too many people better than him, and you can make the case that he's the greatest college basketball coach of all time when you selected Duke dough to play under coach K he was not viewed as a legend yet that was earlier on in his long tenure at Duke take us back. Why did you pick Duke, and why did you believe in coach K at the time? Well, I mean, I thought I mean, I I did a bigger they did a great job recruiting me from early on, you know, tenth grade year. Remember saying Secondly relationships, you know, I thought, you know, coaching I coach in my family about the great relationship during the cost of that recruiting process. And so that relationship coupled with the fact that, you know, he had a great vision for the program, and just, you know, shared vision that that could be a part of. And it was it was the right? You know, it was the right fit for me. And I know a lot of people, you know, during that time, you know, look at that like, wow, you know, you making that decision, and you need other schools that are already proven and other cultures already. Proven would maybe be a better situation. But I didn't feel that way. You're not believed in coach K, I believed in his vision for the program and put in his vision for me. And so that's why chose to go there. What are the principles? What are the lessons that you take away from when you play? And then also when you're able to coach with them. So many things I've learned from coach. I mean, everything I do. Now. Of course, there's a part of it that that comes directly from my experiences with him. But I mean, just, you know, off the bat just just, you know, preparation, you know, if whatever you choose to do the willingness to tip a pair as hard as you possibly can something that that I've seen him do my career for my playing days watching him studying and prepare for games and getting us ready to my coaching with him as an assistant watching him. You know, teach us how to go about that process. And just how meticulous he was about. You know prepares preparation. That was one of the biggest lessons. I've learned. I learned about just just relationship building. Just how important no having great relationships which which players, and and and your community and everybody involved with the program. I mean, he the things that that he just showed us on a daily basis, we was and how he was always, you know, is as big as he has become he always would say to us. You know, you know, you wanna be a part of something bigger than you are. And he always feels he's a part of something bigger than he is because he's working for Duke University working for our young players that data data playing for him. And so he always kept that in perspective. So he's he's maintain a certain sense of being grounded. And they know person has accomplished everything he has. No, that's that's a that's a unique quality whenever you're in a practice or you're in a huddle in a game situation. Do you ever chuckle and say man, I sound like coach K a little bit and flashback to maybe something you experienced as a player all the time all the time. And then. Not. That's I guess. Serious form of flattery. Right. When you're copying what someone else has done. And and I've I've done that quite a bit in my coaching career. And that's a tribute to him. You know, being around him listening to him taking in information that that he's that he's, you know, in part to the players, but also to our staff and definitely I found myself smile, some telling my best exactly what coach say, I started laughing after your long college careers. We're talking to Johnny Dawkins right now Duke UCF coming up at five PM eastern head coach UCF day just won their first NC double A tournament game in program history after your MBA career and also your college career eventually develop this interest for coaching when did that start and how did you link back up with coach K, obviously, the relationship was always strong by a how did you Linda Duke, always loved this game? So I wanted to stay involved with the in some capacity. I didn't know exactly what to pass. But I knew I wanted to stay involved with it. And so I was working at do as a management intern within apple. Leg department know, really thinking about becoming athletic director. So I could still stay ball with mentoring, and and and in working with young people, and I just happened to position opened up. Coach hamburger took the the head coaching job. Back. Didn't see all and coast came to me one day. It was like, you know, asked me did I have an interest in. And of course, I was like, hey, you know, if if coaches as asking you that is just like almost your playing days. I'm like, oh, you must be telling me that he wants me to look at, you know, been involved with this type of profession. So I kinda follow my heart followed his leadership. But that and you know, I'm I'm so happy that he that he that he mentioned it to me because he's been the best decision know, I've loved it every day. I always wanted to stay involved with this game. And I and as as a coach, I I couldn't be happier. So I really appreciate him. Really introducing to the game since you mentioned, the director part, and maybe some of the interest there when you first started out on this quest just brings to mind that. It's a father son athletic director battle as well with UCF, and that's got to be tough as well. No absolute. I'm sure ain't going do the same thing that coach now probably going through as as you know, in in our situation. I'm sure the same thing, you know, with with. But they I mean, that's just you know, it's probably life from so no one wants to this to happen. But, you know, everyone realizes that as you mentioned before, you know, if you meeting that means that means you've won, and that you're that you're new advancing in in and I most cherished tournament in which danc- AA, we all know the names that do does have Zion Barrett. Reddish in Jones's. Well, the four freshmen have been sensational all throughout the season. And they've been the biggest story in college basketball, the start to this game is so big because you don't want to put yourself down in the hall 'cause it's almost impossible to come back against these guys. How do you get your team and ready to go rent from the tip coming up on Sunday? Well, we make sure that we just stay locked in Troy game plan and and play our game. You know, we we can't play this game. May I mean, they they're very successful. They've really talented coach like you say ought to be the greatest coast avocados cook, you know, college basketball, and you know, we need to we need to be where we are. We've got here plan a certain way, we need to stay consistent to the values that we've had all season. How do you try to slow down sign? Williamson. You got an answer. Please. Maybe I could be on the staff. They're studying film. Now, I don't think you can stop a player like dying Williams. If that would have happened somebody would have done it already. So I think I think you have to try just contain them as best you can understand that he just one of those unique players, and he's gonna find a way to do certain things on that floor because he that talented. And so you have to just stay within the game plan. They would we do. Well, an in that get to consume what he does because he's going to you know, he's gonna make plays. He's going to do things that that was the most that most ordinary players can't, and that's just part of his makeup. So I think we have states when you just who we are in in that worry about the place that he makes I know that you're caught up in your bubble focusing on your team. However had you had some former players some former teammates reach out to you..

"I think that was well done. And if you're not going to kick or attempt to long, Phil go, you certainly want to end up with a partner backing up UCF as ill as you. Did right here. Remember UCF lives in their they're fast two minute office. So this will be nothing new to them. It'll be interesting to see what Josh Hypo doesn't play calling here backed up with a younger quarterback. I think with McKenzie Milton. You would probably just run your off with Daryl MAC, and the fact that he's been under pressure as of weight, I think you would be cautious right here. Neck five of nine for nine yards today. Staff the five yard line playacting. Lots of carside Colucci alley up the head of the fifteen past the twenty and crashed out across the twenty yard line of the twenty two. I doubt UCF Devon white to stop one fifty to go first half UCF to timeout for meaning. Snap toback flat-footed now steps into a throw and they'll sit across the thirty five down to the thirty eight so MAC with too fast guns. This one for eighteen I down UCF one forty to go first half nights with the ball. Stab toback play action brilliant drop. He got hit low by Lawrence had finally taken down the high. Loss at Ted on the play UCF has to restock one twenty four to go. First half scrimmage all the way back at a twenty nine yard second down at night. That out of the gun. Takes the step step up. Now you rug? "Such as UCF. Well, nobody beats them. This is the second year in a row they're kicking everybody's tail and they don't have an opportunity to compete for the national championship. And is that not unfair on its face. Okay. Then the other side of that argument is actually, but do we really think that school like you? A school that doesn't compete at the highest level of college football competition could reasonably compete with Alabama could reasonably compete with Clemson could reasonably compete with these larger more traditional powerhouse school. If a school such as you Boise state before it Utah before it wants to make it to that top tier do they need to prove that they're a dominant program rather than just a flash in the pan. Great team. Now, those are the two sides of the argument, and I've got thoughts about what we ought to do with that. Okay. So for me like, you know, kind of casual observer here, it strikes me that the season is so long you want to add a couple of playoff games. Maybe trim a couple of regular season one. So you're not wearing these kids out. They are students after all. That's a piece of it. And for me that kind of segues into what I think ought to be the thing, we're discussing if we're talking about reforming or overhauling college football. Why in the world aren't we picking the biggest fish that needs frying? Why aren't we picking the biggest fight that we can cite to do? The most good. Why aren't we focusing on the needs of the student athletes? If you expand the playoff to eight or sixteen team that means more teams will be driven to function as pro football factories, the kinds of places where there is a lot of pressure on coaches. Therefore, there will be a lot of pressure on student athletes, and it is not the kind of pressure that translates to the classroom. It's the kind of pressure that translates to the field. We're speaking with Greg more sports columnist at the Arizona Republic part of the USA today network. As written. Interesting piece about the university of central Florida undefeated now for the second year in a row in college football. And he says does UCF prove it's time to expand the college football playoff to eight or sixteen teams got to break this down. I guess to to this simple. Like typical sports argument here Ken UCF compete on that level with an Alabama. Clemson. Yes, sir. Right. I mean, the history of sports is riddled with David and Goliath story. That's why we play the game. Right. That's why be NCAA basketball tournament has so much intrigue. We look at the so-called Cinderella teams every year now visit team nobody's ever heard of from a state. That's not a state right from school with four or five directions in its name a state named after a guy, we don't know the school, and then they step up, and they compete at a level that shocks us all and that's something that we love to see again. The history of sports is riddled with these sorts of stories. So can you see us compete with Alabama? Sure. Why not? But again that to me is not the thing we need to be talking about if you continue what you doing. There will be a solution. A few years back Utah forced its way into the Pac twelve in part by being so dominant in its class in the class had been competing. These sorts of things sort themselves out. But again, we've got to be focusing on the student athletes. Thanks, greg.
