Harris leads Miami to season-opening win over UAB
"By the way watching the canes it's all about you baby thirty, one, fourteen struggling. If you ask me with UAB now, they're gonNA win the game right but there's just under six minutes to go. Yeah. They'RE GONNA win the game but not the way they should win the game. Let's be fair. Dates win by thirty. We said it today. Should win by thirty and there was a game that I'm sitting here sweating out sweating out that number. And you know what's funny is that UAB's got the ball and they're moving the ball on Miami. They just threw a twenty five yard for a first down. I mean it is unbelievable. They are so bad. It is beyond me how bad Miami is I don't care. You cannot tell me. That beating UAB thirty, one fourteen is good enough. When you say you do you remember when they used to play Miami is to have a schedule where they played at one cream puff at the beginning of the season first game they went sixty six to nothing. I. Mean the other team wouldn't even score. Now they play cranberries and they give up touchdowns left and right. It doesn't matter who they play everyone that that plays Miami's in the game.

"Are you don't fill out your circle. So let me explain like buying a house. so you decide you want to buy a house and a ruler shows you house and you buy it and square I wanNA. Buy a house circles. She showed you want triangle you bought that Damn House and then the next year you find out that there were all kinds of other houses for sale that neighbor that were bigger nicer and had more things. You like like swimming pool or whatever. So the decision people say, well, you didn't your circles. So when you come out of dental school, what what you do is I want felt your circles that you say, okay, I can go get a Hud. Well, how much money are they gonNA? Pay You you might have four hundred thousand dollars student loans and they might say I eighty five thousand and another one my only pay you forty five. Thousand, and you might be able to get a job at heartland and make two hundred, thousand the first year while I would go to the DSP oh, and the other thing about the show the by the way when I say this I realized that right now I'm going to get part of the streets at only Mormons will listen to if you're not a mormon, just you know change the Muse, any Mormons on the screener any lds? My God envy you married right now with the kid at home. Are you married right now? Via is does that though I am married with it? You're married with kid in dental school her crushing than you are Mormon. No Oh my gosh. She just blew a whole book. A statistics just exploded, but the bottom line is if you're married and you have a family, well, you the party's already in your house, they'll go rule and if you look at the Pew Research pugh everybody thinks of as the ocean RV It's a big nonprofit they study how to save the Ocean. But their next big thing after oceans is healthcare and they do the research, all fifty states I mean like I got to go to Pune I can tell you every town Arizona doesn't even have a dentist and eleven percent of the Mid West has a habit dennis well, my Gosh, she's Dennis will go. With heartland or themselves like look at Iowa Iowa's Elissa ten cities to save you go here. We'll give you a check for one hundred grand and Delta dental of Iowa. They'll give you a check for a hundred grand. So you can go to this town of five thousand, no dentists yet two, hundred, thousand dollars and and the first year they'll do like a million dollars and take home four, hundred, thousand but what Do they all have in common their already married with kids and they don't care that they're living in a town of five thousand I. Mean I I which talk hands us I mean I. Don't know you can do it or but the reason I think it's a lot easier than you think is because we're this far from driverless cars I mean fully autonomous driverless cars or did just a few years away. PHOENIX. was the ground for Google and my gosh could you imagine if you are an hour and a half z. you live in the city but you practice an hour and a half well, that'll just mean your arm goes off as sex and you get up and you go crawl in the back seat of a box it'll be like a U. Haul. Box with four wheels and you'll go back to bed and an hour and fifteen minutes ago thirteen. You're here and so or you might have an office on the way home you have your office computer like like how you're sitting right there. You know that will be in a box Oh my God that's so cool that you're drinking a beer right there right there. But. The bottom line is the commute is gone in fact. I. Think you'RE GONNA. Because It's hard to get anything at home because you got the white thing kids all talk talk dog you go to work and everybody's everybody from every cubicles GonNa. Come over and say how did you do Blah Blah Blah Blah and I think they're going to enjoy an hour or two hour commute in a box with no windows just sitting at their laptop getting all their work done they go into work where they gotta have their meetings breath flash to that stuff and then they're done they get back in their box uninterrupted do their them when they get home, they leave their laptop in in the box and Come home and complete disconnect with work and completely reconnect with the family and the kids and I think it'd be a great thing So again, demographics matter if you don't think demographics matter this what I want you do when you graduate I, want you to set up your office for the first year in Afghanistan an practice in Afghanistan for about a year, and then maybe go to the Congo Ivory Coast, and after about three different countries, you'll learn demographics matter. It's a lot easier to make money and La than it is in Ivory Coast and so demographics matter but if you're young and you're single. And you want to find the love of your life than you want to be as pretty as a peacock. Well, you got better odds in Birmingham than you do two hours out of town and a town of five hundred. The DSO's have quick going to small towns because they're they're not going there. They've already in fact I- podcasts at every major DSO. CEO. My podcast from here, Australia Singapore and. They won't go rule because. Attracting and retaining young Dennis is the hardest obstacle and they're not gonNA get any single person to go to roll I. See you're married. So you've already surrendered you thrown in the towel and you're willing to a commit yourself to this this woman, and so it doesn't matter where you're at. So demographics are it was the last question or did he have any more? Question you mentioned that it sounds like you're a little bit bearish on especially of Orthodox is that the only specialty that you think is might not have a bright future or do you do you feel like orthodontics at the bright future and things are going to change for it? Well, it's kind of interesting because it's all relative right I mean it's relatively your framework and when you know when the average American. Doesn't make twenty dollars an hour. It's you know when when you say that Organiz May to eighty nine and is probably headed down I mean you're not going to get anybody who works at starbucks to fill sorry for the orthodontist making eighty nine going down. But yeah, I think orthodontist have the most. Exposure to publicly traded companies like smiles direct club I mean that's a huge force it's publicly traded. You got invisible line I mean I just bought gas interview the CEO of Invis- line and I mean my gosh, those are some intense people with billions of dollars that you're competing with. Like if you look behind you that today's zonal that's my office I'm competing the Guy Across the street from me he's not I can prove it because he's my drinking buddy and I'm competing against a bunch of single dentists with wives and kids. That's lane. Could you imagine competing against smiles direct club and there's this line publicly traded with harbored MBA's Now. Will they still make over two hundred thousand dollars year? Yes. Will anybody cry a river in in pain that the poor orthodontist only made a couple of hundred thousand dollars year this America No. One's GONNA cry a river for making two or three, hundred, thousand year. But yes, I, mean when I look at their model. Compared to I ended on his. Hurried on as pediatric dentist. Orthodoxy I, think orthodontist has the most exposure to publicly traded entities like smiles dragged and align technology, which owns a design and Tarot versus. you know yeah I think orthodontists have the most exposure to the most serious competition what they've got going good for them as. You know most people get the you know when I was little I was born in sixty two and I was in Kansas and you know I had five sisters and a brother back. Then only only the ugliest kid got though I mean you had to be you'd have your teeth you had to look like. You could eat corn on the COB to a chain link fence and mom and dad say, yeah, we gotta we gotta fix up buster is headed right for the seminary and at but now with birth control and family size gone from four and a half kids to under two now everybody can afford Ortho and now you have or dope you know everybody gets Ortho in Grammar School. In Highschool so they can get married off in college, and then when that fails, they come back for to to get six backup at thirty five or forty to be. You're ready to go back on the market. So I've noticed all my own cosmetics is first time around, and then after divorce in fact I would end on the divorce thing. I just can't say this about schools. The women we have one woman on the deal. That's his amy amy are you married? No I'm not okay and.

Anderson named St. John's head coach
"Then you finally got an answer to the next Saint John's head coach was going to be because we all agree this ten day. Search has been an out in barris meant I no problem with Saint John's moving on from Chris Mullin, but the plan in place after the fact, let's say left a lot to be desired the failed. Chase of Bobby Hurley what went on with him cruise hearing about porter Moser. I mean, it was just a different story every day. You didn't know who is running. The search was that the new AFL director, Mike Craig was deported. Trustees and the president involved portal nightmare. And I have to be honest when I found out Thursday morning that Kim Koo said withdrawn his name from the search fearing the worst. I was taking a Twitter destroying the program. Rightfully sell for the way, these last ten days have chicken out little did. I know that Saint John's we're actually end up with a head coach and candidate that has a pretty impressive resume is you found out Thursday night that Mike Anderson full head coach at UAB, the former head coach, Missouri. And the former head coach at Arkansas. Is the next head coach of the Saint John's Redstone. His what you like about, Mike Anderson. Everywhere. He has gone. He's one. When's the last time Saint John's can give you coach with that a resume from that amount of stops along the way. It's been quite some time. Mike Anderson is one. Took Arkansas NCW tournament through the last five years. Saint John's can't tell you the last time they've done that going back to the late nineteen ninety s David won a tournament game in nineteen years. You're getting a head coach who's gonna bring a style of play that I think is going to be appealing to lot guys that thinking about one sT shots. Forty minutes of hell, obviously, his proteges men was no Richardson at Arkansas style, they played winning national championship. They're gonna get up and down to four. They're going to defend they're going to be fun team to watch. If you bring in right players. Now the knock on this. Anderson higher is going to be not only the manner in which it was conducted. But the fact that he doesn't have New York ties. I don't think that's in the world. I really don't. And here's why you're going to bring an assistant coach is most likely who do have those New York dies. And if you know anything about college basketball, these days recruiting now is nationwide. You're not just going to focus on a niche area. You'll go coast to coast players Steve alive and tried to do it. Chris Mullin shot to do it coaches over the country. Yeah, you're going to recruit the area in which coaching. But you looking to get players that are going to fit your style players that are gonna stick around players that are going to be eligible now my stick and do that. I think it sell it higher, especially considering the set of circumstances. The embarrassment at reportedly interview with francesa couple days ago. The dirty laundry being aired every which way Saint John's they got themselves proven cut. They got themselves the head coach who's what bendy NCW tournament. Nine times seventeen years. Who is basically twenty five hundred it's an impressive resume. Now, we'll see if that resume can continue to be successful in a program that yeah hasn't had much success over the last eighteen nineteen years. So Mike Anderson, formerly of Arkansas, the new head coach Saint John's, then you had the keys on Thursday night so much for the Yankees taking the good feel of the Boston series and carrying it over into Thursday's game because the basically sleepwalking through nine innings against the Kansas City Royals. They're facing a mediocre pitcher coming off multiple surgeries. And Homer Bailey won't pitch came out of the Mingo her mom who gives him six innings through on baseball. We gave up a couple of gopher balls. You'll gonna take that anytime a on amount. Six Durham baseball Yankee, bats scorn run in the first inning. Did absolutely nothing in this game. And look the acheived one through six in his lineup. Still in my estimation have enough to give you far better efforts than what you saw against the royals, but you have to knowledge the fact that the Yankees seven eight nine Mike Ford. Austin role mind pile await Yankee like so one story short the keys trying to tread water. Eight ten on a year to get cavalry back soon as possible. Hoping for more. Good news. I'm Gail and do hor we'll see what his role is going to be came comeback. Maybe just be at the H that talking about maybe the idea of impeding up a first baseman for about like that. It's you consider getting Gary Sanchez back on Sunday. We'll be cipher so rise 'cause I'm sick and tired of watching Austin role mind who is not a starting catcher in the big leagues. You want? Good news on Hicks. You canoes on Stanton. But if there is a silver lining to all these Yankee injuries man could Frazier's taking his opportunity. He's run with it. He had another multi hit night on Thursday, and he's gonna make life very difficult. Aaron Boone wants the keys have some healthy players back in a lot. But in the meantime, the Handke's gotta find a way even with the injuries to beat up on somebody's bad teams losing series at home to the Orioles. The tigers. And the White Sox is unacceptable. You'd better hoping putting the canned City Royals on that list. Five fifteen here on this Friday morning stage. A after die chance give it to you right here on the fan. Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six thoughts on Saint John's in their higher the Yankees continuing to struggle with bad teams and Brooklyn now down to one in this series, a punchers chance of their I say extending to sixty seven games don't count on it. Now with the lead is CBS sports minute is Bill rider. CBS sports minute. Not take anything away from the Houston. Rockets. What has

"And I think it's one, you know delegating. A little more. They did in year one. And also, you know, Bill former back up the Brinks truck, but try and jump start this program. You know, actually, there were only three programs in the country that had two million dollar coordinators. Neither none of those three. That's still have those and Tennessee's is joining that group. So change a foot, I guess to recruit tweaking some things going into your to Dave. What would you say has been the most significant staff decision by? By Jeremy Pruitt. I think two things I mean number one kind of alluded to it earlier. But but bringing a board there. Yeah. From the raiders the guy that has spent time at Obama, and and obviously we'll regard in the field bringing him aboard. And we kind of heard that he was going to have a defensive coordinator role. But I don't think anybody expected him to be the defensive play caller. And I'm sure we'll have a lot of influence in clay calling. But for to publicly take the stance of yet. You know, I'm handing off the the play calling duties to it to a first time play caller. It's pretty monumental. And then obviously moving. Kevin Cher off of that code. If it's coordinator role in bringing Martin aboard board, obviously Winston seines over as well. And and putting him in charge of the receivers and the passing game coordinating duty. So I would probably point to those three things. But but for me, you know, I I was flabbergasted at the seat of the journey. Pruitt had handed off defensive play calling duties, even if you know, we'll see, you know, if that's still the case in mid October talking about the the Tennessee Valley, I was just asked about Mark your what would be considered a significantly successful year. I mean, I know the easy answer is a bowl game. But it seems like maybe maybe it should be higher than that. What what would you say knowing that Tennessee personnel? You know, the schedule stars Georgia. Stay BYU Chattanooga. And the other game is UAB certainly UAB competitive. Very very successful team winning the conference USA championship last year. BYU? Okay. But road games at Florida at Alabama that could be problem at Kentucky at Missouri. So what do you think? Yeah. I mean, you know, they're the only program in the Kinney in the country right now that has to play Alabama and Georgia every single year that that doesn't help you. But ultimately I mean a bowl game. It's kind of the expectation here fair or not, you know, I don't think just going to a bowl game is gonna make anybody happy. I think there's still be quite a bit of skepticism going into your three I would say probably eight wins would be something that people would consider a success here. I mean, you're talking about a schedule that. Yeah. They don't have the marquee preseason game. Like they did last year with West Virginia. But they only leave me stadium four times all next season. And so even when you have a tough schedule your plan, the SEC and you have Alabama locked into that cross division game. You have Georgia still looming and being generally Georgia that makes things tough. But I I don't think just simply making a bowl game is going to be enough to make people happy here in your to doesn't just really an interesting analysis. Let me switch gears one of the big things of the first half of the show. Oh was an has been what happened at Rupp Saturday night year? You're there in in big orange country. I how is that plate? And does it change the psyche of this basketball program number one for four weeks now sitting at number five? Fans are a little bit nervous. Because I think they know, you know, they're proud of the fact that yet, Tennessee and reform bills this program without any elite recruits. But then you go into a game where you play a team that that, you know, could Tukhy every year seems like they kind of have to figure it out about this time of year and Kentucky figures it out right in front of your face kinda flexes on you a little bit. I think has a little bit nervous..

UAB did not have a football program two years ago. Forces that who ever they were. We can't have them as a football program. This is not helping anybody. Why are they here in Birmingham, Alabama? And then people got together and say, you're not gonna take out football program. You may get rid of us for a year, but we're going to be back and stronger than ever two years later, they get their first ever bowl victory by beating northern Illinois by count of thirty seven to thirteen and you look at their coach very similar to Nate oats in who they have at UAB where he could have gone away. Yeah. He goes to the looked at that. And said, I don't think I wanna do this here you guys don't want us here. We don't wanna be bothered. Okay. I'm not going to go on with this kind of challenge. I'm going to go somewhere else. And he could have done that. And nobody would have held Bill Clark. And blamed him for that Bill Clark said, you know, what I'm not leaving this players. I'm not leaving this program. I'm not leaving this community. We're going to get this done, and we're going to build it two years later, they're eleven and three in the first ever bowl victory. "To be good enough for another thirty minutes. But we'll see what happens Oklahoma TCU Murray and company a week off to think about the forty eight forty five tough loss in the Red River shootout against Texas. And as we look at this one Joe Lisi, well, let's see we've got uh. Oklahoma seven and a half, sixty one and a half. So it's gone down a half point here your take care because Oklahoma needs to get back on track. Run the table and get another crack at Texas, not counting West Virginia. But I'd like to see Oklahoma, Texas again that was a very entertaining game, your take on this one Oklahoma's one five of the last six and the doctor back since nineteen ninety nine that being said I like backs against the wall. He's playing much better than Oklahoma. Metal head coaching. Gary Patterson, not sold on Lincoln Riley, head coach. In this ball game from start to finish. Even liked him on the money line in this match up. I'm against Joe here. We go coaching blouse last Harris. I there are you kidding me? What we'll see. I mean on the side of the ball. I think Lincoln Riley, just fine. Obviously they made the change of defense corner. We'll see what happens with Ruffin McNeill as a new defense corner. I can't trust TCU's quarterback Robinson six touchdowns eight interceptions. The last five games and Oklahoma after a loss thirty and oh strain up twenty two and eight against this brand. Gimme the Sooners off the bye is going to be interesting on this. And again TCU couldn't move the ball on Texas Tech. So that's a little bit scary for me as far as from the offense. But we'll see Robinson can get it together North Texas UAB there's going to be a good game because we know Mason fine in the mean, green or good. But we know you a be really comes to play. And they're going to have a decent crowd at home. I like their coach I like this team Joe Lisi what about at UAB, minus a point and a half at home fifty four the total against North Texas this going to be a dynamite game for one of the small conferences. You have a more finesse team in North Texas and a more blue collar team in terms of physicality in UAB and bettering support your taxes, but still hasn't type of teams. I like I like with this Bill cork game ten points or more lower taxes, not sold on your side of the ball four. Yeah. I agree with you one of my top places week UAB, and you got a team here that has not lost at home since they return last year as a program nine straight up eight one against the number top-five scoring defense in the country top five total defense in the country. And we got basically a pick em game here. Give me the blazers guys only because I saw North Texas. I know Mason got banged up in the game. When they brought me Joe Greene's number back out of retirement, but they lost that game and the end of the day UAB, I like the way they're playing so all three of those to go with the blazers here SMU at Tulane mean green is North Texas in the green wave is two lane there at home in knowledge police coming in there in this game. I'm looking at two lane of straight up seven point favorite.

"Probably at this point in time and every year they've let me down in some way shape or form this year. You know, I had them a little bit lower the two games. They've lost Vanderbilt in the opener. We all we talked about that game. We all know how Vanderbilt really gets up for that one. And then Georgia and a lot of conference USA group of five types of teams are going to get blown out by Georgia beat FAU win on the road at Marshall. Can I trust this team to play up to its level three times in a row? That's the hard part I have here and why I haven't fired. Even though if I can get a plus three out there. I got the five point over way. You know, I have to like that for a power hitting standpoint. But I've been burned by MTS's so much that I don't know if I can trust them to hold up their end of the bargain three times in a row. Yeah, I get that. But I'll say this if you're looking for middle Tennessee to win conference USA couple of major hurdles out of their way beating four Antic Marshall, they win this one who's gonna beat them in conference USA. They still got a road trip in non conference to Kentucky, but a Charlotte, Old Dominion, west Kentucky, Utech. They do host UAB. They get by this one. I'm not saying they can punch their tickets to the conference championship game, but you can start warming up the bus. I'll tell you what man that UAB game in the final week there on November twenty. Fourth could wind up being really interesting because those teams might play again the next week who offered as you all championship game. So that I mean, especially with the way that it's setting up now. 'cause you mentioned you know, middle Tennessee tiebreaker over Marshall tiebreaker over f you, they win this game. They're three and everybody else in the east has a loss. So yeah, that's definitely set up to be an interesting in November twenty four th with neither team really wanting to show a whole lot having to play for a much bigger prize the following week.
