U-Haul truck driver who crashed into security barrier at park near White House is arrested
"A man who crashed a U haul truck into a security barrier across from The White House is under arrest. The Secret Service says investigators believe the driver may have intentionally hit the barriers at Lafayette park last night. Police searched the truck and W USA TV posted video showing one officer going through evidence, including a Nazi flag. There were no injuries and authorities have not released the man's identity nor a motive. The park police say he faces multiple charges, including threatening to kill kidnap or inflict harm on a president. Sagar Meghani, Washington.

Police: 'Multiple casualties' from shooting in Louisville
"Louisville police say 5 people were killed in a downtown shooting and 6 others hospitalized and that the shooter has been killed. The shooting happened in a building on east Main Street that houses the old national bank this morning, not far from Louisville slugger field and waterfront park. Police initially described it as an ongoing situation with an active aggressor. Now they say 5 people are dead, 6 others in the hospital and the shooter is dead, witnesses who left the building told a local news station. They heard gunfire inside the building and numerous police vehicles were seen on television footage, Kentucky governor Andy beshear says he's heading to the scene and the FBI also says its agents are responding to the shooting. Part of the Parkway is now closed this morning as police investigate in our Kyle Cooper joins us live from the scene, Kyle? Yeah, John, I'm happy. It's right here happening right here near pea street in The Rock creek Parkway. I'm kind of standing over the Parkway now looking down at the accident. Got to tell you guys, it's a really bad crash of the cars involved are in really rough shape. A U.S. park police spokesperson is out here talking to the media this morning. Thomas twinning. He tells us that, indeed, three people in one of the cars died, two other people in the other car were taken to the hospital, and there's an update on one of their conditions. One of them is now in serious condition. The other in a little bit better condition. Police are monitoring that to an aide says that one of the cars that was involved was pulled over just before the crash around one 45 this morning, but fled that traffic stop. He says officers did not pursue the driver. They said, the reason that they pulled them over did not pursue did not mean that they needed to pursue them. That's kind of fuzzy. They're not giving us all the information on that yet. They're still investigating about why they didn't pursue and why that car was pulled over in the first place. We just don't know, but they do insist that they did not pursue the car when it fled. Then the crash happened and police came back here to the scene. We're trying to get some more details. The possibility of a new American legion bridge is unclear now that the group Maryland chose to build it and toll lanes as well on part of the beltway and I two 70 has pulled out of the project, but this morning Virginia wants to reassure drivers that commuters will the commute rather will continue to improve south of the Potomac. V dot says its project to extend the four 95 express lanes two and a half miles from Tyson's toward Maryland is full speed ahead. The lanes are scheduled to open by late 2025 and you can already see the work near what will be the new George Washington Parkway interchange, even if there's no new bridge V dot says increasing the beltways capacity will move 2500 more people per hour in both directions and improve travel times by as much as 24 minutes for people driving north. Now in Maryland, southbound Baltimore Washington park all lanes remain blocked south to the beltway. Now it sounds like they've closed off to ramps for both the inner and outer loop to go south on the Parkway as well, still waiting on firm word when that's gonna reopen, but that may be closed for a bit. California shooting hero honored at ceremony
"The man who authorities credit with stopping another mass shooting in Southern California has been honored. At a Sunday ceremony carried by K ABC, Brandon say was given the medal of courage by the Alhambra police department. After a gunman killed 11 people at a dance ballroom in Monterey Park, police say the gunman entered a dance studio in Alhambra, video shows 26 year old Brandon say struggling with a gunman and disarming him. Most of the victims I knew personally, they'd always come by to dance studio, and I consider them Friends. Chief defends delay telling public of mass shooter at-large
"The police chief in the California city where 20 people were shot at a ballroom dance hall, 11 fatally, is defending his decision not to warn the public for hours that a killer was on the loose. I'm Ben Thomas with the latest. Monterey Park police chief Scott Weiss tells the AP other law enforcement in the region were alerted, but it didn't make sense to warn the public late at night, even after receiving a report that the suspect may have targeted another club nearby. I'm not going to send my officers door to door, waking people up and telling them that we're looking for a male Asian in Monterey Park. It's not going to do us any good. We said the scene inside the club was overwhelming. There were victims about every ten feet. And his team needed help. Nobody in our department, including myself, has ever been involved in a situation like this. They brought in the LA county sheriff's department, they'd be able to pull that information out and get it out to the public if it was necessary. A sheriff's official confirmed the fatalities to the AP about four hours after the shooting, but it was roughly an hour later the first word came a suspect was at large. The accident scene did happen northbound on the BW Parkway right there by Laurel Bowie road. That's Marilyn one 97. The incident was serious enough that all lanes were forced to be blocked emergency crews are down by powder mill road, redirecting traffic, all traffic headed northbound on the BW Parkway gets a detoured onto powder mill road. Now, looking at the camera seems people are indecisive, they're not sure if they should turn left or right, go ahead and make that right turn on powder mill road, headed eastbound, that'll take you up towards one 97 Laura buoy road, then make that left turn, and that'll take you back towards the BW Parkway. Again, all northbound traffic on the BW Parkway gets detoured onto powder mill road. Take powder mill road and head up towards one 97 to once again access the BW Parkway. Otherwise, if you make the left turn, you can go ahead and take route one, or you can even make a U turn head back southbound on the BW Parkway. Either way, works. You have a few options. Just follow police direction as necessary here tonight. Still hearing about the accident scene at the intersection of the suitland Parkway and Marilyn four, so just watch out for that, not seeing any delays because of it, just follow police direction there as well. Work zone on the southbound side of I two 70 has the left lane blocked as you make away past one O 9, be aware of that one. And if you're headed, finally, here on the eastbound side of route 50 past two O two, looks like the left hand side of the roadway has a few cones in it. Now, if you're traveling on three 95 north into the district, while delays of ease, you still have the works on setup that begins just after the exit for U.S. park police headquarters in west Potomac park extends all the way to a point just beyond the third street tunnel, single file left gets you by, keep in mind the exits to both main avenue and the northbound tunnel closed by the work sound at also part of that work is the on rent from 7th street southwest to go north on three 95 also closed as part of that work. Now on 66, westbound between route 7 and the bellway single right link gets you by the exit to the outer loop and add a loop express lanes closed by that work between one 23 and route 50 again as you approach and pass center Val and then between the rest area and subtly road down to a single right lane at each of those work zones additionally they're also working between the Prince William Parkway in 29 games where you're also down to a single right lane getting by on the eastbound side between route 50 and nutley street single right lane through the work zone as you approach the beltway works on blocks right lane that closer actually extends onto the ramp to the outer loop where you squeeze by single file to the left. Now, if you're traveling on the two 70 spur south down, right where you exit onto the outer loop of the beltway that works and again along the left side, two left lanes blocked you should come down from this where you get by a single file to write folks coming around the adult loop around the big curve over the spur headed down toward river road, all lanes are open there. Now, if you're driving in Maryland, 32 eastbound as you're a crossover I 95, they have you getting by the works on single file to ride have not heard from listeners, whether or not they've closed the ramp to go north on 95 again for now, all lanes are open on 95 norm found had passed 32 and continuing up toward BWI and the Baltimore beltway. They're still trying to get two cars rescued that we're in the deep water earlier. So again, for now, that remains closed, but they're hoping to have that reopen sometime in the next 30 minutes or so beach drive similar situation that had been closed since early this morning between rock creek Parkway and tilden street and that due to flooding as well. That should be reopening shortly, but for now, best to avoid both as they continue to clean up and also the floodwaters receding, so it's a getting better out there, so good news. Add a loop the bellway just after Connecticut avenue, that crash completely wrapped up in cleared all lanes are open. Again, a heads up in Silver Spring portions of coleslaw road university boulevard got signals dark as a result of the power outage. If you're on university boulevard essentially between Lorraine avenue in east Franklin, avenue, and then on coleslaw, essentially between the beltway and lockwood drive, all those signals are dark as a result of that power outage. Boston Area Man Killed In Ipswich Mountain Bike Crash
"46 year old man. This from Ipswich. Police 46 year old man from Wellesley, has died after a mountain biking accident at Willow Dale State Park. Police received that call. Just after noon, a male biking with his friend crashed in the park. First responders on scene say he was wearing a helmet but died from his injuries.
