But at the White House today, this question to press secretary Jen Psaki said. When they Talk that the president won't hold back. Will he be following up this talk with actions are sanctions on the table. E think there are a range of actions that are on the table. But the first step is the next step. I should say it's for the president to speak with the king. We expect that to happen very soon. As you know, we've committed to the release of an unclassified report that would come out from Deanna and not from the White House on. Of course, our administration is focused on recalibrating the relationship as we've talked about in here previously, and certainly there are areas where we will express concerns on and leave open the option of accountability. There also areas where we will continue to work with Saudi Arabia. Given the threats they face in the region. Well, hold up to the phone call. Is the king avoiding your calls? I don't think that's the characterization. The president has a busy schedule. The king. Obviously, I can't speak to his schedule. I'm not his spokesperson, but we expect the call to happen very soon. I think there was an inaccurate reporting about being confirmed when it wasn't a confirmed call. Yet if you have made clear that the president's gonna be speaking with his counterpart with it came with the Crown prince. But given the Crown princess role in the future of the kingdom, and that he is expected to be implicated here, why not speak to the person I expect to be responsible? Well, I think the president's conversation will cover a range of topics with the king. There's obviously A lot to discuss with Saudi Arabian with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, And as I noted, a previously noted the conferences have been engaged with his appropriate counterparts. The president will be engaged with his appropriate counterparts, and we're engaged at many levels with leaders in Saudi Arabia. So will the conferences counterparts here, But often he's teaching him about this issue that he spoke with him last week. They did a readout. I don't think I have anything more about their call from today's White House briefing. We should Point out during a September 2019 interview with CBS is Norah O'Donnell for 60 Minutes. Piece, the Saudi Crown prince denying any knowledge of Jamal cash. Augie's death his answers through a translator. The world wants the answer to this question. How did you not know about this operation about that? Some think that I should know what three million people working for the Saudi government do daily. It's impossible that the three million would send their daily reports to the leader or the second highest person in the Saudi government. Two of your closest advisors, who are accused of orchestrating this plot were fired by the king removed. From your inner circle. The question is, How could you not know if this was carried out by people who are close to you? The only doctors today the investigations are being carried out and once charges are proven against someone, regardless of their rank, it will be taken to court. No exception made. I've read what the Saudi prosecutor has said about those that are charged in this murder. And it's gruesome the details when you heard that people close to you and in your government carried out such a grisly murder, and that the American government thinks that you ordered it. What did you think I could be the godmother of Lord Coffee, Mother, Cutie. I believe what you mentioned is not correct. There isn't an official statement announced by the American government in this rig. Heart. There isn't clear information or evidence that someone close to me did something to that effect their charges and they're being investigated. But again, you cannot imagine the pain that we suffered, especially as the Saudi government from a crime such as this one. House Democrats to keep minimum wage hike in COVID-19 relief bill for Friday vote

"The Senate parliamentarian rules against including the minimum wage in the covert relief bill. While Democrats had pushed for the increase to be included, its removal may actually make it easier to pass the covert bill, and they wind up avoiding a messy fight over whether to strip it out of the bill or compromised the finding by Elizabeth McDonough, the parliamentarian, the chambers, nonpartisan arbiter of its rules. Comes as Democrats prepare for House approval tomorrow of the initial version of the $1.9 trillion package. She has ruled that the increase to $15 per hour did not meet a strict set of guidelines needed to move forward. In the Senate reconciliation process, So that means the Senate will have toe strip the minimum wage provision out and then eventually, the House will have to pass the bill again. "With news. Welcome back. It has been, Fergus. You so nice to have you with us tonight? And if you just joined us Happy New Year to you and your family. We got a lot to talk about tonight. No one specifically get into this election in Georgia. Let's just deal with Georgia for a second so that you understand what this is going to mean for the country. This is you could argue Biden's And his presidency's defining moment. Because of Joe Biden is able to pull off a victory in Georgia with the Senate seats. You were going to get exactly what the Socialist left has been calling for. They will have the votes to raise your taxes. In a major way. They will have the votes to mandate $15 an hour minimum wage. They will have the votes to ban things like fracking. They will have the votes. To defund or military. They will have the votes to give away massive amounts of your tax towers, massive amounts of your tax dollars to foreign countries, they will have the votes. To get rid of manufacturing and incentives in this country to actually do these types of things. If Joe Biden Is to have a quote, successful presidency in his terms. The AOC is the world that answer Pelosi's the world the squad they've gotta win Georgia. And this is going to be a defining moment. There is no doubt Because if you look at Georgia, right, and I'm going by the media here, so don't yell at me. Just hear me out. Joe Biden won Georgia That's what that's what we're being told. That's what it says. If both the Republicans win in Georgia that's immediately Kicking the You know what Out of Joe Biden. Before his agenda has even begun. He with that point be rejected. Think about that, just for a second. It would be instant instant instant rejection. Yeah. Instant rejection. Of his policies of what he's doing, because ah state that just voted for him for president just said no to his ideas becoming long. And that's what's its stake here. And that's why it's so important to pay attention to what's happening in Georgia. Now, if anybody tells you that they know what's gonna happen, Georgia they're idiots. They're lying to you, and they don't know what they're talking about. Because Georgia is not decided yet. Georgia is a total crapshoot right now. Proof of it is the fact that Joe Biden won in Georgia. But if Joe Biden's Ideas and this is not a Senate race. It's also be very, very, very, very, very, very clear about this. This is not a Senate race. This is a race on. Are you going to allow socialism to be implemented without a road block? Are you going to allow Joe Biden's agenda? His socialist radical agenda to become all that's what it is. Is it safe here? Are you gonna allow for a president? To shut everything down into shut everyone down wherever they want to do it, like de Blasio and Cuomo have done for example, Like what happened in San Francisco, are you in favor of full blown socialism? That is the question. Right that everybody needs to be asking. Let's also talk about Nancy Pelosi in for a second. Nancy Pelosi today was able to secure another term is the speaker of the House. She was able to do this, and there is a part of that story that the media is not talking about. She's the weakest speaker. She's weakened as a speaker. A severely weakened house speaker Bit. Suppose he barely won re election on Sunday, with only 216 votes lessen the majority by the way of 218 in the U. S House of Representatives. After the voting concluded, according to C Span's count, Pelosi 816 votes and embolden House Minority leader representative Kevin McCarthy secured 209 votes. Two members vote, Democrats voted for somebody else and three members. Also Democrats voted president said a voting for her. The fact that Pelosi could not even get a majority of members of the U. S. House representative to vote for her. Since the House has 435 voting members of majority is to 18. It's a sign of how weak she is. And it's a sign that she's much weaker since the 2020 congressional election. That we saw on Election Day November. What do we find? We found massive losses for the House Democrats, which is part of the head scratcher, the presidential election. Some of the members who voted present, such as represented Abigail Span burgers. She's Democrat from Virginia frame. Their vote is against Pelosi. Representative Spam burgers statement said quote. I kept my promise to vote for new leadership bond. My swearing in and in this Congress remain consistent in my commitment to ushering in new leadership. Accordingly. I did not vote for the Speaker Pelosi. Technically, Sam Birger actually helped Pelosis secure the speakership by voting present. That lowered the total number of votes Pelosi needed to win as a candidate needs to win a majority of those present and voting for a person. Members of Congress know this, By the way, not that stupid, and Pelosi did not actually need spam burgers vote in the end. But our claims to have voted for new leadership. Or dishonest. Because she, in effect help need supposed to secure another two year term. Let's talk about policy for a second. If the Democrats going to be in charge. The house to be the speaker of the House. I wanted it to be Nancy Pelosi. Let me explain why Nancy Pelosi helped give us Donald Trump Make no mistake about that. Nancy Pelosi is Almost as polarizing. Is Hillary Clinton is You either love her or you absolutely hate her. You despise her. There is no in between with names to Pelosi. The older Nancy Pelosi gets The lists of a political tactician. She is She's been around the game for so long that she forgets sometimes that something that sometimes you have to play the game. She is always an attack mode. Now that is good for conservatives. If you're going to have somebody in that job I wanted to be Nancy Pelosi. That's what I want..

"Lee 24 hour News Station Co. Moh news 1000 FM 97 7 Good morning It's 5 47 on Greg, her shoulder. Manda is off this morning. Franklin's He's at the editor's desk, and these are some of our top stories. The U. S. House plans to vote today on a bill that would provide the $2000 coronavirus relief payments that President Trump wants. This vote will follow last night's action by Trump finally signing the massive bill that includes $600 payments to millions of Americans. ABC News correspondent is ABC News correspondent Elizabeth Scholesy is between right now, Elizabeth. This was quite a bit of drama over the weekend for folks that might have checked out because of the holidays. Can you kind of give us a thumbnail as to what happened? Absolutely a lot of drama over this. So President Trump last week threatened not to sign this covert relief and government funding bill because he was asking for those $2000 stimulus checks, and he was unhappy with some of the spending provisions in the bill. So he still sat on the president's desk in Florida. For a couple of days where he's spending the holidays as he weighed whether he was going to sign it or not. There was a lot of criticism from the Democrats and from Republicans in Congress who have passed this bill after months of negotiating and months of back and forth. And even there were some programs that laughs, Um, unemployment benefit programs that lapsed over the weekend that were extended as part of this bill. So really a lot of pressure here to get this done. The other deadline is course was a government shutdown that was going to happen tonight at midnight if the president didn't sign it, so ultimately he came through. He signs the government funding and the covert relief deal. Which will provide $900 billion and economic relief, including $600 stimulus check for many Americans, but still short of those $2000 test that he had asked for Did the president's actions surprised people in his administration? You know, it was certainly unexpected. This this kind of change of heart. Last night, the president insinuated. This was coming on Twitter. He tweeted. There is good news to come. We know that many inside the White House and certainly some of the president's allies in Congress had been pushing him to sign the bill, notably Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the president's biggest allies in Congress. Said. The sooner this bill becomes law, the better. So what, actually contributed to a change of heart late last night. We don't know. But we do know that he came through and Sinus with no changes to the format that he had criticized earlier in the week and called a disgrace. So now we have a vote scheduled by Democratic leaders in the U. S House today to provide the $2000 relief payments. What are the prospects for that going ahead? Also has a lot of support from Democrats both in the House and the Senate. So this would be a standalone bill to increase the stimulus payments to $2000 Nancy Pelosi said. Last night we stand with the president on this. So an unlikely partnership here playing out between the House and Senate Democrats and President Trump. This case is a very big uphill battle, not just among House Republicans but in the Senate. So last night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell praise the president's resigning this bill, but he did not make any mention of the $2000 stimulus checks. We don't even know if this measure passes the house today if it would even be taken up in the Senate with the opposition that we've already seen from any of those GOP of lawmakers. All right, Elizabeth, Thanks for the update this morning, ABC News correspondent Elizabeth Scholesy with us here on the coma. Morning news..

It Is a gift to China and Russia. No one has worked harder or approved more money for the military than I have over $2 Trillion During my four years with the support of many others, we have almost entirely rebuilt the United States military, which was totally depleted when I took office, your failure to terminate the very dangerous national security risk of section 2 30. We'll make our intelligence virtually impossible to conduct without everyone knowing what we're doing at every step. Act fails even to make any meaningful changes to section 2 30 of the Communications Decency Act. Despite bipartisan calls for repealing that provision, section 2 30 facilitates the spread of foreign disinformation online, which is a serious threat to our national security and election integrity. It must be repealed. Additionally, the act includes language that would require the renaming of certain military installations. Over the course of United States history. These locations have taken on significance to the American story and those who have helped write it that far transcends their namesakes. My administration respects the legacy of the millions of American servicemen and women who have served with honor at these military bases. And who, from these locations who have fought, bled and died for their country. From these facilities. We have won two world wars. I have been clear in my opposition to politically motivated Attempts like this to wash away history and to dishonor the immense progress our country has fought for in realizing our founding principles. Thea also restricts the president's ability to preserve our nation's security by arbitrarily limiting the amount of military construction funds that can be used to respond to a national emergency. In a time when adversaries have the means to directly attack the homeland, the president must be able to safeguard the American people without having to wait for congressional authorization. Act also contains an amendment that would slow down the rollout of nationwide five G, especially in rural areas. Numerous provisions of the act directly contradict my administration's foreign policy, particularly my efforts to bring our troops home. I oppose endless wars, as does the American public over bipartisan objections, however, this act purports to restrict the president's ability to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. Germany and South Korea. Not only is this bad policy, but it is unconstitutional. Article Two of the Constitution makes the president the commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States and best in him the executive power, therefore, the defense decision regarding how many troops to deploy and where including in Afghanistan, Germany and South Korea rest with him, the Congress may not irrigate this authority to itself directly or indirectly as purported spending restrictions. Under guidelines consistently issued by successive speakers as recorded in section 956 of the House rules in manual. The chair is constrained to not entertain the request unless it has been cleared by the bipartisan floor and committee leaderships. So we do not have a unanimous consent that is pursuant to section for B of the House resolution. 967. The House stands adjourned until 2 P.m. on Monday, December 28 2020 mayor. Christmas. Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell presiding over the U. S House floor today, again today was not scheduled as a legislative business days of just a few members there and to pass anything required that both parties leadership agree, and they did not agree. The full House does return on Monday, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi says a bill to increase the stimulus payments The $2000 will be brought up for a roll call vote then. But majority leader in the House Steny Hoyer, at a news conference after today's floor session, says it doesn't need to get to that point. President Trump, he says, should sign the original spending package that Congress sends him. Last week. As I said, we reached bipartisan agreement, we sent the bill to the president to President Trump to sign and on Lee. Then after we agreed on a figure we thought was too low for direct payments to families and Children, $600. What the Republicans would not take a higher figure on Lee then did the president. United States indicate that 600 was not enough a zoo matter of fact. Mr Manoogian had indicated that that lower figure might have been appropriate. Believe it or not, Democrats agree with the president. At least to the extent that we need to sign this bill now. 600 is certainly not enough for individuals who have been struggling these past seven months, and it isn't enough to provide the boost our economy needs President Trump as I said on the floor. On behalf of the speaker. And myself. I ask unanimous consent to pass a bill, which would have responded to the president's request. But because we did not have the agreement of the minority leader again offer the three people who can stop a unanimous consent. Any one of them disagreeing and I offered it on behalf of the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and myself, but it was not agreed to the morning this morning. I asked, as I said, unanimous consent. Under the rules. All three of us had to agree to of us did Minority leader did not. House Republicans rejected unanimous consent request blocking that increased so thought by Democrats and now also by President Trump. The American people need to know with certainty. Democrats are trying to get them higher stimulus payments. This is Christmas Eve. Surely President of the United States, Whether he's in mar a Lago anyplace else. Auto empathize with the pain and suffering an apprehension and deep angst that the American people are feeling this Christmas Eve. And sign this bill because we saw today Republican Congress and the White House can't agree on what they want. Again that this this bill passed overwhelmingly through the House of Representatives. In the United States Senate entire covert 19 relief package so desperately needed by our people and our businesses remains on the president's desk, and he consign it to day. I urge the president to sign the bill. We sent him so we can resume critical aid to small businesses provide peace of mind to Renner's resume expanded unemployment benefits give food to those who are hungry. To assist our healthcare workers to make sure the vaccine is not just in vials but in arms. In some To make sure that the relief that American people need and that the economy needs is adopted. He needs to sign this bill to ensure that the government remains open and serving the American people. As well. How ironic it would be to shut down the government at a time of pandemic crisis the very time when government services are needed the most no partisan politics put the people first. This bill It's for the people. For the country, the House Majority leader, Steny Hoyer, at a news conference on Capitol Hill. So see, the press writes. If President Trump were to follow through on his implied veto threat, delivered via video clip on Tuesday, the government would likely experience a brief partial shutdown starting on December 29th. And it would also, of course, delay delivery of At least the $600 direct payments at the bill does contain. Also at today's Democratic News conference, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, who had presided over the House session. It is Christmas Eve. But It is not a silent night. All is not calm. Too many. Nothing is bright. For too many. They are not sleeping peacefully. Idea a town hall last night. I had people crying people terrified of what is going to happen. I have for months been talking to 10 restaurant owners a day who are desperately trying to survive. I've been talking to people who were scared. They're going to be kicked out from their homes during the Christmas holidays. It still might be if we don't sign this Bill Ah, Father, who called me two weeks ago, and he said to me he had told his child that Santa Claus couldn't come this year. He wanted to be able to feed her for Christmas. People don't know what the hurt is like There was this bill. Perfect? No, but it was a down payment and getting covert relief to the people of this country. And then the president. When we finally thought that we'd be able to give people hope that's what people need hope. And be able to begin to continue to work on this in January. Doesn't give a damn about people. He's through more fear. He's who care seen on a care of fire. It is now threatening to veto this bill. Congresswoman Debbie Dingle, a Democrat on Capitol Hill, the House might already leader Kevin McCarthy, Republican tweeted. This morning, House Republicans just moved to re examine how we spend taxpayer dollars on foreign aid as president Trump called for Democrats blocked it. Thank you, Congressman Rob Wittman for representing Republicans on Christmas Eve in the fight for the American people. As that was happening. Republican Congressman James Comber was being interviewed on Fox News. Republicans wanted to file a unanimous consent to reduce the wasteful spending in that Kobe bill. What nature Pelosi has right now is a bad case of selective hearing because what the president said was he wanted to increase the stimulus direct payments from $602,000. But he also said he wanted to reduce all that wasteful spending that Nancy Pelosi Put in that bill, so they have selective hearing and I think what the president should do now. Is he should veto the bill. And if Pelosi is unwilling to cut the waste out and and start all over because 90% of the bill, I think has bipartisan support. But what the what the problems of American people saw is the process is awful, putting lots of different bills. Into one boat and then no debate. No amendments. Not enough time for everyone to completely digest the bill, and that's not what the American people want. That's a broken Congress. That's because of Nancy Pelosi. And I think the president has done a great job bringing this to the American people's attention, and now it's up to Congress to right this wrong and I appreciate the Republican standing firm on that, and I hope that we can eliminate that waste fraud and abuse in the budget. Congressman James Comer during a Fox news interview. Several journalists, including CNN's Phil Mattingly, have pointed out that the foreign aid that President Trump objected to was, in many cases the exact amount the president had asked for. In his budget request to Congress. Some reaction to today from the Senate side, The Hill newspaper report to Senator Roy Blunt, a member of the public and leadership, warning that the president's demand for $2000 stimulus checks cannot pass the Senate and also are Urging the president to sign the original agreement, Blunt said, quote It took us a long time to get where we are. I think reopening the bill would be a mistake. A short Wall Street trading day. This day before Christmas..

Toe slow the spread of the coronavirus saying like we did over Thanksgiving, we all have to care enough for each other that we have to stay apart just a little bit longer. The bill that Congress passed Also had in it $1.4 trillion worth of federal government regular spending. The vote Monday night in the U. S House was 3 59 to 53 in the Senate, 92 to 6 and his expect to be signed into law soon by President Donald Trump. Here is President Joe Biden today in Wilmington, Delaware. Leaders of both House and Senate. Both parties deserve credit for making the hard compromises to get this done. But like all compromises is far from perfect. It does provide vital relief. At a critical moment, however, have said all along this bill is just the first step. Downpayment on addressing the crisis crises more than one that were in there a lot more work to do Early next year. I'm gonna put forward to the Congress. My plans for what comes next. We'll need more help to fully distribute the vaccine. We're gonna need more testing. Nor did we have opened our schools. We need more funding Tell firefighters and police, many of whom are being laid off a zay speak and the same with nurses. Risking their lives on the front lines, the same for millions of hurting families were unable to put food on the table, pay rent or the mortgage unemployment's extended for another 10 weeks. Could take a lot longer than that. But Congress did his job this week and I can't and I must ask them to do it again next year, But I'm with the changes in approach I'm gonna put in place in late January. People are still going to be getting sick and dying from covert one thing. I promise you about my leadership during this crisis. I'm going to tell it to you straight. I'm gonna tell you the truth..

After insisting on a $2.4 trillion stimulus package in the run up to the election. They have now made a significant move and have proposed that a $908 billion bipartisan plan that was released yesterday be the basis for New negotiations with the Republicans. So this is a significant change, you know, potentially something that could break the logjam. And meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he's been circulating his own plan to fellow Republicans and we're told this is largely a revision of an earlier $500 billion plan that had been rejected by Democrats is inadequate.
