"tyson" Discussed on Design Matters with Debbie Millman

"A full throated, poetic invocation of the power of science and the beauty of the world it has revealed. Neil deGrasse Tyson welcome to design matters. Well, you sound like my mother talking about my life and my books. Thank you. I'm not entirely sure how to take that, but I'll take it. Well, mom's always say nice things regardless, so that's all. Okay, okay. Yeah, well, thank you for that very warm introduction. Oh, my absolute pleasure. Neil, is it true that Saturn is the only planet in our solar system with an average density, less than water? Yeah, but that doesn't do justice to some of the other big bulbous planets. So if you look at Jupiter, which is by far the most massive planet in the solar system. In fact, if you cobble together all the other planets, they will not equal the mass of Jupiter. Jupiter is big and bulbous the way Saturn is, and it has an average density just slightly more than water. And so Saturn is slightly less than water. So I don't want to single out Saturn as the guilty party here or the guilty if you're less dense than quarter. I don't know. I don't want to single out Saturn when all of the gas giants are big and bulbous and low density. They're like beach balls. But yes, Saturn happens to have a density less than water. Which means if you scoop out an average part of it, it'll float. And that's a kind of weird. So I don't know if you knew this, but as a child, I knew this fact as a child. Well, that's why I'm asking. And I'm asking you this question because it takes us all the way back to when you were asked the question. Crafty, right? Yeah, yeah. See what you did there. Question in 1973 and I'm wondering if you could share with our listeners when you were first asked that question. Well, I knew it before others had asked me. All right, I just thought it was an intriguing fact. Who doesn't love intriguing facts about everything? It's like saying, did you know that? And no matter what it is, if it begins with it, did you know? It's usually because someone sifted through random information and found something that was particularly interesting. I just remember, as a child, seeing people playing with rubber duckies in the bathtub and other little floating devices. Of course, ducks float. Like on purpose, that's how they can just hang out on the water's surface. And I thought to myself, if Saturn's average density is less than water, they should make rubber saturns. The people who are thinking not just birds floating, you know, and so it would not be until I was director of the Hayden planetarium, and I made this fact public about my early life. And somebody sent me a rubber Saturn. So in my office, I have a tiny little rubber taken it into a bathtub. But I trust that it's going to float. And I thought that was a very thoughtful gift. I think there needs to be a whole merchandising section in the Hayden planetarium of inflatable Saturn pool toys. I mean, why have you not done that yet? No, 'cause I'm not that, no. I'm not that exploitive of the universe, which put it that way. Fair enough. Commercially exploitive now. Your fascination with the stars began way before that question was asked of you. And from what I understand your fascination really was inspired by your first trip to the Hayden planetarium in New York City, you were 9 years old. And stated that visit made an indelible impression on you. And I had a somewhat similar experience at the same age when I visited my first planetarium. I was in Miami with family and we went to the planetarium and it's a palpable, visceral memory. I often think about, you've said that that's actually not unusual for many people, their first planetarium visits are remembered for a lifetime. Why do you think that is? Yeah, I don't, I wish I could say it was because the universe is so amazing, but no. Yes, that's true, but I don't think that's the reason. I think the reason after a lot of thinking about this, especially when we rebuilt the original Hayden planetarium into what is today, the rose center for earth and space, containing the new Hayden planetarium. What we learned as we visited many museums across the country and in fact around the world, in trying to plan and design the new facility. What we learned is that you are much more likely to remember and immersive experience. No matter what that immersive experience is. So, at the time, there was a prevailing scholarship among museum educators that exhibits had to be hands on. And that meant you'd walk up to an exhibit box, let's say. And they'd be buttons and levers and sounds, and then they test to see what you learned, what principle of science and science museums we're talking about, of course. What you learned in this, and I thought to myself, maybe they learned something, maybe they didn't, but how much time did they spend in front of it? You admit it? No one is spending a half hour in front of a museum exhibition box, especially kids. Then I thought, they spent years in school learning. And minutes in front of an exhibit. You can't expect the exhibit to teach them testable things? A curriculum? A syllabus? It occurred to me that the goal of a museum, given these facts, is to inspire you to want to learn more. Not to teach you in the moment, is to flick switches, that you might have that had never been turned on, or to fan the embers that had once been raging with curiosity and for whatever reason had gone dormant. That's what needs to happen. And an immersive exhibit, its value to you, its advantage over other exhibits, is you are consumed by it, typically all of your senses may be not smell, but maybe that too. You see it. You feel it. You hear it. You look all around you. You are consumed by it, and that's what happens in a planetarium. And I tested this. I tested this. Oh, by the way, and to be to be immersive means the exhibit is bigger than you are. It has to be otherwise you can't immerse yourself in it. So

James Carville: A Trump Administration Vs. A DeSantis Administration

"But carville made the crack, you know, that everything's going well until you get hit in the mouth. You can have a plan until you get hit in the mouth. And basically, Trump is like iron Mike. We've got the carville cut somewhere, guys. Let's play Jim carville. Here's serpent head on TV show somewhere. I don't even know where. I'm sure it was MSNBC or CNN. Here's James carville talking about desantis who has been pretty low key about Donald Trump until recently, and then he's kind of stepped up his criticisms in at least laying out the differences between what a Trump administration would look like versus a desantis administration. Since desantis is getting a little more pointed in his critique of president Trump, that led carville to say this. You know, disaster proves that wisdom of Mike Tyson, everybody got a plan to hit him in the mouth. That guy, he doesn't know whether to wind his rear scratches watch. And he tried to play in the league that he can't play yet. And that's pretty evident. I'm being confused guy and Trump hit him in the mouth and he lost his plan. He just went totally off key. So my hats off to our mic. My hats off to, well, look at that. James carville praising Donald Trump.

"Another party said today he turned away an $8 million contract in a fight in the UFC. So obviously in boxing, he's getting a bigger payday. But the big payday only comes when you're standing across from the biggest, most dangerous guy in the world. They're not going to pay him $10 million to fight some random guy. And they put $10 million to fight Deontay Wilder. To fight Tyson Fury, Arnold's guys at that level because they bring in the eyeballs in the intrigue of the fight. So take the biggest fight right now. Do you think there's any risk to him doing that? Not just in the fight because look, France is the God who is a phenomenal MMA fighter. But if he goes up against Tyson Fury, that is going to end horribly for him. It just is. He's going to get, I think Tyson toys with him. And I think he eventually stops him. It's not disrespectful. I don't think to say that because if Tyson Fury ever stepped into the cage, he would get worked over equally as bad. It's just, it's a different type of combat sport. So for nagano, if he does that, let's say in July with Tyson Fury, maybe raining as the undisputed heavyweight champion. Is there a downside for him as far as the rest of his career goes? You know what's the craziest thing about Francis situation? Is that if Francis goes out there and fights by some fear? Gets knocked out makes 15, 20 $1 million. There are still so many organizations that would line up to have him fight in their heavyweight division. MMA organization, right? He could fight Bellator. He can fight the PFL. He can fight in Russia. He can fight one of the bare knuckle boxing is obviously not. There's so many options for him. And I don't know if he's limited to one fight. You may have one big fight, but then you may have some other box to fight anything potentially when, but I think you got to cash in right now, man. Because you did it for a reason. And that reason had to be the one fight one of the best boxers in the world. You know, one of my theories D.C. is that it might benefit nagano to go into another high level MMA fight just to kind of reestablish his name, his credentials because he was white hot last January. He still very well known as we as we see with all the talk about him over the last couple of days. But I think some of the buzz has gone off him a little bit. I think it might behoove him to step into the PFL or Bellator on one of these other MMA entities and fight. But I guess the question would be, is it too big a risk for him to do that? Like, how risky is it for a guy like nagano to face one of the other top fighters in the other combats mixed martial arts entities? I just think that if he was going to fight MMA was going to be in the UFC, right? We don't need the UFC to fight MMA somewhere else. I think, so even if he did, there was not much risk in heavyweights around the world beating him.

And you basically created that company and wrote the software, so it's going to be interesting. So before we do that, I really want you to go back to tell us about your experiences in the army. Yeah. It was a while ago. So I want to make sure people realize I got in in 1988. So it has been some time. And I'm sure things have changed a lot, but there's certainly things that are still, you know, whenever I speak with veterans, there's a lot of common stuff that we've all went through and not the least of which is just basic and they're getting started part. I had a pretty good experience in that I traveled the world. I went directly from high school to flight school, which was just incredible. And. Back in 90, when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, I didn't know that I wanted to be in a combat zone, but it turned out that that was a really also very fascinating part of my life, learn things about yourself when you're in that situation. And came back with skills that I'd never anticipated, having from a confidence perspective or just a can do or a willingness to solve problems. It was a wonderful experience. I had a great experience. And I was supposed to be in for a minimum of 6 years. I got out a couple of years early. I was only in for four years, so I was out in 92, and then I went to college. You went and you got an English in a history degree, I believe, from philosophy. English and philosophy English and philosophy, okay. Ridiculous degrees. Yeah. So probably fascinating and definitely personal improvement in definitely has its purpose, but not a whole lot of jobs coming out of college. Yeah, and that was a little bit of a struggle. When I went to college, I thought, you know what? I did the past four years doing what I was being told to do. And I was like, you know, I just want to just read books and learn about how to think, not what to think, which was where the philosophy came in..

"You mentioned this story, the prison uprising, Mike spann, a former marine CIA paramilitary. For those who know nothing, give us the story of that incredible event and what that man did. Yeah. It is incredible. And so November 25th, 2001. Two CIA officers walk into this fort called calla jangi, which means literally like fort of war outside mazar I Sharif. Now, backing up a little bit mazarin Sharif had fallen to northern alliance forces, aided by our allies. Our allies aided by the CIA green berets and air force combat controllers and the awesome might have U.S. air power overhead on November 10th. Now, less than a month earlier, Mike spann had been one of 8 CIA officers who landed in the Darius souf valley, aboard two Black Hawk helicopters that had flown in from Kashi Khan about K two, a former Soviet air base that Uzbekistan government had given over to the Americans for this post 9 11 mission. So October 17th, 2001, they land at dropped into the unknown. First Americans behind America. So we are barely barely a month out since 9 11. Yeah. First Americans behind them enemy lines. Now there had been a CIA team called jawbreaker that had landed in the pantry of Ali on September 26th, but that was, you know, relatively speaking safe territory controlled by the northern alliance. But this was enemy territory, Taliban controlled territory. So 8 of them, four of them were paramilitaries, one of those was Mike span. So when paramilitary is somebody who's been seconded, usually from the military and is working in the CIA using their skills for the CIA. Yeah, usually they actually in the CIA sometimes their contractors or people who've been seconded and on some of the other teams that were actually serving members of the Delta force and seals. But the four paramount trees on team alpha were serving CIOs special activities, division. Scott spellman, who was on the cover of the book, he was later became very senior, it was the senior CIA guy on the National Security Council during the Trump administration. He became station chief in Kabul, but then a young officer, but already battle hardened he had been wounded in the battle of Mogadishu in Somalia in 1993. It was a guy called Alex Hernandez, who was the deputy chief, who was a sergeant major, gone full career in special forces and then joined the agency and two case officers, JRC, who was the chief who'd worked with the CIA out of Islamabad in the 1980s against the Soviets for the supply and stinger missiles to the mujahideen and David Tyson who you mentioned at the beginning who was with Mike span on November 25th 2001. So they're in unfriendly territory. This is the Ford of war, walk us through that event. So David was a case officer based in Tashkent and spoke Uzbek almost fluently. And so he's the linguist and the main linguist on the team, although JR, seger also he spoke diary, which was the sort of lingua franca in Afghanistan. But on that day, the team split, there's a big fight, a hundred miles to the east. It expected in Kunduz so the bulk of American forces are there. But the night before 400 Al-Qaeda prisoners had arrived on the eastern edge of mazarin reef to surrender, and it was extremely murky why they were there. They should have been surrendering in Kunduz. And basically, I mean, what I was able to establish almost beyond doubt is that this was a Trojan horse operation. It was a deliberate trap. Yeah, it was a Taliban Al-Qaeda operation to put pretend that for these 400 fighters had surrendered, but in fact they were made up remained armed. They sort of exploited Afghan custom to keep their weapons with them and they were planning an uprising. Because you can have lots of people surrender at once if it's a regular army during the Gulf War, we had thousands of Iraqis surrender at once. When it's irregular fighters, you don't usually get hundreds of them surrendering at the same time. It's a little bit

"Before we get into these amazing stories, Mike span, David Tyson, John walker lind, who is Toby Honda. Tell us about what you did in the British armed forces and your life as a journalist before you became an author. Yes, well, you know, we share a somewhat similar accent as listeners and viewers will detect. You still got yours. Our minds kind of rubbing off a little bit, but I don't know. I'm worried. I'm worried about mind getting a little bit Americanized. But I trust yeah, you're a bit soggy in the middle of the Atlantic somewhere. Yeah, I mean the ace. So yeah, I'm 56 years old, I was born in 66. My father was in the navy. We moved around, we sort of ended up in Manchester, industrial city in the northwest. You don't have a mancunian accent. I think the Royal Navy actually did for the mancunian accent, which was pretty skin deep anyway. But you know, I sort of, you know, I wanted to follow in my father's footstep, I guess there's so many sort of young men do. And I also wanted to get out of Manchester and see the world and it just seemed like a very kind of insular sort of small sort of place. And so all that teenage angst was just channeled towards working hard to get out. And so I got a sponsorship from the I joined the navy at 18. Went to Dartmouth, which is the Britannia royal naval college, kind of the equivalent of the U.S. naval academy at Annapolis, but not really because it's more basic officers training. It's like santas is shorter. Yeah, that's right. I mean, I was there for less than a year. And I threw the navy I got a sponsorship to Oxford to study modern history, so I went off whilst serving naval officer, although I barely wore the uniform for those years apart from a few months sailing around sort of Hong Kong and the far east and Australia. So I had some good times. Yes, exactly. So I was serving naval officer for three years at college and then graduated from college and was pitched in to a career. Which I enjoyed immensely, but you know, it was after the Falklands War, which was 1982, I was joining and supplying to join just sort of join the Falklands actually, age 16. But I missed that. I was stationed in Scotland for the Gulf War, tried very hard to get involved. They managed to that's a long way away from Iraq. I know. They managed to win it without meeting my services. "There's a new story now, Matt Harvey, who was a great pitcher for the mets. They called him The Dark Knight. And he's now involved in this death of a California angels pitcher who was taken percocet and did Coke and Harvey happen to be there. Harvey happened to give him the pills and this guy ODed and Harvey's career is basically over. Because you look back on his days as it met when he didn't show up for spring training when he had a fight with a teammate when he left, but he needed to get out of a game early. You go, wait, those are cocaine moments. You recognize that now, some of us saw that stuff happening and said, he's on, he's on blow, man. I can tell. I knew when Doc gooden was getting high as it met. But Coke game was all around us in the 80s in New York, especially in New York. We had our athletes alone, Lawrence Taylor, Michael ray Richardson, Doc gooden, Dallas strawberry, Keith Hernandez, his career was almost room because he couldn't shake cocaine. Clearly, the president's drop in favorability made it very difficult for the democratic nominee to stay above water. Democratic Jerry Conley told axios D.C. in my colleague selection night event in Tyson's quarter, Virginia. That's what happened. A senior aide to New Jersey Democrat told axios alania Trini, quote, it's insanely clear. The party must reorient not on center left or progressive goals, but on what gets real things done for family. You would think so. How bad was it? The New York Times has a headline story about a little tiny district in San Antonio. John luhan a 59 year old retired firefighter won the seat a blow for Democrats because Joe Biden carried it by double digit points, only a year ago. My favorite headline in the morning in The New York Times from Jeremy Peters and elisa Lerner Republicans pounce on schools as a wedge issued to unite the party as I put online. Headlines are not the fault of Jeremy. He's a fine reporter. I don't know Lisa. Headlines are driven to get quicks. Did Brittany Murphy's Relationship With Simon Monjack Kill Her?

"If you remember correctly, she dies in December 20th, 2009, she's 32 years old. The autopsy lists her death as an accident caused by pneumonia, anemia, and a bunch of drug intoxications. And I remember when I went to the hospital 5 years ago with a bad cough, I woke up and I said to my wife, I feel like Mike Tyson is punching my kidneys and my chest at the same time. I gotta go to the ER. I never thought of ammonia. I get there, they come back from the x-rays and shit and they go, you've got super pneumonia in your left lung. Your kidneys are failing. And I thought, oh, wow, I'm just like Heath Ledger. And they come back and go, wait, you're also anemic. And I thought, great, now I'm Brittany Murphy. Either way, I'm gonna die. They both died, so I guess this is it for me. This is curtains. I pulled through. But Brittany dies, 5 months later, Simon monjack dies at 40 years old in the same room as Murphy did. And with all of the exact same cause of death, acute pneumonia and severe anemia. Now Brittany was on a period, okay? Simon wasn't. So what's with the anemia thing? They don't really get into that. But it's a big stunning coincidence, and it's been hanging over their deaths. This big mystery has been hanging over their debts for a long time, and a lot of people say that maybe they were murdered. And the film kind of considers these theories, but also it uses a lot of its time to examine the toxic and ultimately lethal ramifications of Murphy, meaning Simon monjack, because that's when she really began to die. I hate to say it like that, but that's

Why Tyson Fury Is a True Fighter

"I was very anxious to see the Tyson Fury Dante wilder fight. Love those two guys, especially Tyson Fury. It's amazing to me a lot of people don't know that Tyson Fury who's 6 foot 9. And a terrific heavyweight champ. I thought everybody knew that this guy was born premature, was gonna not make it, and it was really touch and go. The fact that he was born, his father said he could fit in the palms of both of his hands. That's how tiny he was. The doctors didn't give him much of a chance and his father said, none of my son's gonna make it. He's a fighter. The father was a big boxing fan and a big fan of Mike Tyson so they named this little boy. Tyson. Never known he'd grow up to become a boxer, let alone a heavyweight champ. But in the midst of his life, it all fell apart. I think he got into maybe drinking, but I think drugs and drinking were a part of it. He lost kind of his mental stability. He went down a bad road and came back to be a terrific athlete and a great champion. In fact, he's one of the guys who was saving boxing. Dante Wilde, a 6 foot 7, tough as nails black dude. 42 wins, 41 by knockout. The only losses in ties he has are against Tyson Fury. So this fight was going to be great. It was a great fight. 'cause you know pops. He has his own business but mom. She has to take care of them every day. So it's just it's just a tough situation. So i'm on the guy that believed nothing impossible to somebody who tries Everything's hardy. Everything could be hard. The situation thought so. You have to to be hard. We have to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Nice just what it is. Yep so with matthew matthew being able to be in a better place. Like one of the manifestations i have right now is like a big fashion. Mogul like virgil cayenne. Reach out and be like this the After i took listen. I come from the fucking sewage of fucking book innocent. Nobody in mind neighbor. May we'll all animal very people we still from each other. We do all that stuff. I'm saying nobody will ever think a guy like me would make eva. They diagnosed me retarded. I'm on my show retarded. Can you believe that they put in shit and helped me. They put me on. They go work different on me. Now so happy that we wanted to Matthew on the show so bad we have many hundreds of million view that when that didn't see him. I appreciate you so much for that uncle my worry about that. Yeah charles charlie. So what's what's the overall goal for you though like for. Obviously i know you want to start this. You know a lot of your colleagues here. they They quit their job. Do you know what i'm saying. Like is it just a continue to keep helping going on tour and continue to helping like the the people that really need the help. That's it man like matthews attests. you know. This is what we wanna do like like. I realized like in my life. I was surrounded by a lot of bad people. When i was trying to make things about me. Like people feel from accountants all sorts of badges family member. People would take advantage of me. 'cause i'm really nice but then when i made the mission bigger about other people and i got up off of me. I got surrounded by the best people in the world. Champion happened to me. Yeah and it's like once you once you taste what it feels like to like lonzo being with filth then when you would something of clean. Say hey. This isn't right. this is wrong. You don't even feel uncomfortable because it's that program and we don't even know that we're being program we're around something so much we don't even know there's another side to it when i experienced this other side where all this magic manifestation at god just blessed miracles like i can't ever go back. I'm gonna sail off into the sunset doing this. I mean after you see matthew's mother and father at our dreamer house last night just crying. They're just watching like every fifteen minutes. Ten thousand dollars is coming in. I listen. I've been the places Children with Their function talking machine. We just nobody at the head and he's still alive my situation they i'm very humbled we humbled and i want to be involved with situations like that so they shows me who i really am them. Nothing i can't. Listen if i all this money and i'm big flyer again lewd fucking who william might from superstar really and i can help somebody like that this situation and i love his family and i can't help him you know. That's no superstar. Says a lot about you because me come in from the entertainment industry. It's not always like that right. Well i mean there's a lot of people are known entertainment. This and i'm older than you. I seen more than you in industry. Okay that is all about the vibe in there. This is all about the vibe and not about helping nobody did. Lsu my team doing wanna tell you to say this is a control mechanism. And if they're crew against everybody else's crew in an issue and then bottling the same the people that you trust the most and the people that you invest the most time and disappointed the most Sometimes you could. we're freak. I've seen him with accessible. You always give up power to someone else. You know 'cause we think they're going to take care of some love with enough what they said they do different in till you made this move right here. This is the first time you did son that you did initiative. I mean they. Just the first time. I did mount initiative That's why i really appreciate you. I appreciate you because you allow allowing matthew and myself to come on when you interview the biggest people in the world but this this right here like i think matthew in a year could be one of the biggest people in the world. Don't see this is not let his man. His brother helped me and the biggest people in the world in is is just put the pushing it forward especially how how special is for you.

Tell me about yourself. Go look like there's good and bad. let's just talk about. And i just want to hear the bad stuff about you. Mike can we talk about the business. No no don't worry about that. We're going to take care of that when we get to the hotel so we started talking. We get to the hotel. Of course. there's a big reception there. Everybody's taking pictures of mike and he's cool as a cucumber. everything's good. I had two off-duty police officers on with us. That i hired to stay with us the whole day and i look back with stay close to stay close to me the whole time so we go in and mike says call such and such to the room mike okay so we go up to the sweet mike sitting there. Of course you know it says no smoking smoking a cigar and just tapping it on the ground leaving mike tyson. Something them like. Manna so assuming tat shit on the floor. So we go into the room in. Mike tells the cops and he goes stay. The fuck outside like no power to me was like this just going to be amazing and then part of me was terrified that the event was going to go crazy. Yeah so the guy walks into the room and he's walks like a little kid. That just did something wrong. I it just means for read ryan and mike and then the guy walks into the room and he wouldn't even look at mike and mike. Go sit right there. You gonna go to your bank right now and you're gonna pull every penny out of your account you can bring me the receipt and you're going to bring it to me cash and we're not leaving here until you do that. I'm looking at my milwaukee member downtown buffalo. The place is packed. it's sold out. We gotta move. We got a schedule. So i said mike can. We now know and mike says brother. We're not doing this brother doing by my way today. So i said okay. The guy goes he comes back. The guy had two thousand dollars fifteen hundred dollars in his name and he brought back the receipt and might looks at it and he goes on. This is just worst. Before he went down that he goes the guy goes. Okay free please take the other down there. Go get the money and come back. Guy goes mike says do him. No no no you go naked. Now come on. I want you to strip and you go down there naked and you. I want you humiliate when you go to the bank. And i'm like mike so i just stepped in oakland mike so i said mike. Why don't we just let the guy go get the money and come back. He's all right all right. We'll do that so the guy goes gets. The money comes back. Gives the money to mike and he goes mike. Mike his planes tomorrow the no his planes now and i go. Okay no problem this guy out of here. I go such and such go to the airport. Get the money. Give it to my ex-wife mike. We finish with the event. He was once he goes like. Okay good van downstairs makes no. He's walk into the airport ban november any and he squared up with me. He's up mike. But then i start thinking about it. Walked out of flight. Mike said something to me. That i'd never forget. And he said everything i have. I worked for. But everything i worked for. Even even being muslim you know the person that made could be conor mcgregor. Yeah seem we could be. But that's but that's exactly what. I'm saying mike. You find a he the person that you are you need that villain. I always play who i mean. I'm the lovable. I'm humble but i don't take no shit like i could talk. Is the exact same thing could be looking could could become. He's become a maga- starman. Yeah you get somebody like that. You'd drop somebody that's a villain he found. I went to suck my fucking dick from who. Who was that reporter for the lennox. Lewis fight we said f. You like going that some little deserve. Made the government's ever you have to let these guys respect. You have to say something the possibility that you might be in the hospital. I don't know if you are talking about you. Remember the first time we met and buffalo somewhere. You remember that what happened in the hotel room please. It was two thousand and thirteen and we brought you out to buffalo two thousand thirteen eight years ago and And we brought out mike to do a big meet and greet and then we brought him up to one of our fights in in lockport new york and and and that the meet and greet before we hype this thing. I we sold it out. We we put our ask. When i say we hyped it up. I mean. I signed mike to come out three months before we did that. In what i in the problem is i went on vacation with my wife. We actually had our honeymoon week after. So all the honeymoon. That's all i'm doing is working on promoting the fighting pro so i didn't really have much of a honeymoon so we were promoting the event promoting event. We sold it out. We had thousands of meet and greet sold pumped up. All the news stations recovering. First time mike tyson comes upstate new york so we had a guy that was working with. We're gonna call him such and such and such and such says to me. Hey i'm representing mike. You know we'll get the deal done and he did. He was a middle guy. Put us together. I never dealt directly with mike orchid through this guy and he told me the prices x amount. And i said okay and i said you know. And then there's their deliverables on the side. What he charges you know for autographs with charges for pictures and we said okay. He goes to the amount. Is this much okay great. But that's not what the contractors the contract says ex in good. Listen do me a favor. I'll cross it off. I'll initial it. But mike contract doesn't say that he could listen. I'll deal with mike. Don't worry you know they take a long time to fix. The contrast i look. I'm going to sell up. Sell the tickets based on your number and he goes. Yeah i got you so. We sold based on that number. Mike flies in the day before he makes five in a ryan. Fiterman comes in and he goes. Are you know what's the like go. We got you know nine hundred meet-and-greet sold he's a cold kaga huge and he goes into rates this. I could know the rates. This he goes. Who told you that ryan very listen. Well who told you that. I said such-and-such he goes. Who's that who's that. The guy's got an app. Mike tyson dot com email address. And i've been talking to him. He's the one that got me the contract and he goes. Does mike notice i said. Oh shit bro. I go ryan. I can't deal with the events the next day so So he goes all right so key caused me that night. And she's okay. Brother harari saw him saddam and she was like telling me about this. I said this was going on. She goes oh no she was. Mike's gonna get pissed if he finds out who thinks he's messing with. I could do me a favor. Don't tell mike until he gets here. I've got too much invested into this thing. She's like all right. I'll tell you what let ryan talked to. By the grace of god mike sluggish got delayed a little bit so mike was able to sit when he landed to sit in the in the car with ryan and he kind of broke it all down with us so for sit in the baggage claim freeze like i heard. "Bill gates becomes bill gates because he had access to programming before he was one of ten people in the world that could have access to computers will no wonder he was able to build these infrastructures through writing code. The beatles had played all these times so much private show or just like smaller concerts before they became the beatles and that the knowledge was not to everyone and now it's become everywhere. Yeah you can get it and you can do what you wanna do with it. And that's that's kind of the coolest part about living right now. On this time is there is no excuse if there is no excuse other than applying yourself and being accountable for your actions yeah stain hook day in and day out day in day out and the truth is everybody deserves to be a champion. Think about your family like maybe your your husband or are a wife and you have somebody that depends on you being your best. I think about your kids. What are you showing them like. Are you showing them somebody. That's continually growing continually getting better continually striving to make their dreams happen because whether you know it or not your kids will follow in your footsteps if you're not shortening the them these things then you're really cheating your children. Yeah that's the way. I look at it. Think about the people that influence. If you're not apparent in you're not married think about you know that friend that you influence that you hang out with you. Know he's gonna follow your lead or she's gonna follow your lead. People follow people who follow their passion. Yes that's the truth and the more you follow your passion the more you work on yourself. You'll recognize that people start looking at you a little bit different. They'll be saying what's changed about that person. We always notice a new person every year in professional. Rhody that pops right This guy pops you know haven magid popped paid and bray pop like people pop and it's like what what what do they do and they see the moment of the success like oh my gosh. So but they forget that the ten thousand hours of practice the night at midnight when they got home from the rodeo and they made up this movement and it wasn't good and they went and they practiced it kick the lights on in practice. It you know so you deserve that. You deserve to pop tomorrow. You deserve to be better than i. I'm just a firm believer in that so but it's up to you to take the step and do it well. And that's the thing is as we acquire our skills in those guys. Don't choose when they pop their dishes. Ready they're just waiting now and they have done the work and i think that's where everyone wants to be is. You don't know when your chance is gonna be but you wanna be ready when you get there right. You don't wanna have your chance and not letting ready at scott. That's going to be one of the worst things you'd ever have to live with. I think that's got. Don't let it slip by. don't do it thanks tyson. You are welcome my friend. Thank you guys In thanks everybody for listening if you stuck with us this far. Then you're well on your way to being a champion. We'll see you guys.

We can do a deep dive into the mental side of things and and just how you process it and apply in your daily life. It's really cool and then to have that like that. That i think that's the biggest advantage now days with what we do is your available to someone that lives idaho or wherever where that russia yeah or mexico or brazil like we have such an opportunity right now because you used to had to like if you wanna learn from tyson you had to go tastes clinic or if you wanted to learn from you know From anybody in team roping you ha- you would have to go to their clinic and that was and then you learn like twenty five different things and you remember one. The great thing. With the way that. I'm doing things with td coaching in dilemmas. Mentorship program. what you're doing x. Factors you're giving people the ability to learn a little bit every day and that's really where people win learning a little bit every single day over extended period of time is what creates winners. Absolutely a book. I love outliers. I'm glad well two thousand hours baby probably up there actually somewhere. I've read it. It's really good but there's so many little things like bill gates becomes bill gates because he had access to programming before he was one.

"And so like i'm not saying like it every single day but sometimes if i made a mistake two or three times i'll say tyson you suck pull your head out of your butler. Let's go. let's get this back. So i might say that but then it's used as motivation right. It's not. I don't really say like tyson. You suck and then i'm like oh man i suck gosh never gonna make it is back. No it's not like that. It's like you suck all right now. Let's go kick but let's get back. Let's get our head in the game. let's go you know what i'm saying so it just really depends on the individual wool as to how you talk to yourself. Because it's for me. I i try to be real careful with this all come back and and if i mess up i sucked and and i'll say that an amount in my mind i i don't suck i call mean it but i'm like there. That was a mistake on pretty upset about it And i sucked. But i i kinda use it that way. But it's a it's a slippery slope because if you do it two or three times in a row yeah then you might start identify as that like all when i when i get the pressure situations i suck. It boils down to my ten minute rule. Let's talk about ten minutes so turn before. Oh yeah exactly. we'll we'll set it up I don. I'm i'm really good about it now. Five years ago. When i missed to steer especially if all the guys were their big slacks everyone kinda that my peers are there when i missed him. The first thing. I wasn't even my rope had maybe not even hit the ground yet. And i missed him. And i'm like i suck. I don't belong here. I'm not good enough. And these thoughts. Own boom boom. They pop into my head so fast. And you're so upset when you make a mistake rodion and it's really weird because we had this one little chance and probably your last dime to enter to fees were four hundred and you had four hundred twenty seven dollars in your account like a cowboy unless you spend your last time trying to rope rodeo. There's a lot riding fail and you have all of these emotion pop in there probably really natural to think all these things so for the next ten minutes. What's that look. Yeah so I got this thing that i teach. you know. It's the ten minute rule and at the end of the day could break down deeper but it's the end of the day. I give myself ten minutes and then ten minute window as long as there's not seen by anybody can do whatever i want i. Can you know. I can get mad. I can get upset. I can you know this stage of the game have been doing this so long that it's like a frowny face for ten minutes when i was twenty one. It was a smash hat in a broken road. Can you know so it's evolved and i've grown but the truth is i give myself ten minutes and once the ten minutes is up. That's it. it doesn't belong to me. And i want to move forward in. Here's how came to this realization. That right got ten minutes. And that's it is because i recognized that one failure led to another right and if i let it affect me too much at one rodeo..
