"It sounds obvious but a lot of people think the players are to determine who wins and loses. Coaching is just as important. If you don't have a good coach you're not being successful. Look at jordan. For example right doubt collins who i think is a was a very good head coach bill system that allowed jordan to succeed at an all time high scoring level but they didn't win because jordan scored too much and the our guys didn't get involved phil. Jackson came in introduced the triangle offense with with texts winter and they were able to get jordan to still be a dominant score but also understand how to get his teammates involved. Sunday media's teammates to win now if you make the argument la brandini coaching the little. The ron needed that that miami team. He needed that coaching rainy that he needs fill hanley to help develop an even better in los angeles he did erik spoelstra pat riley to help him beat lord to be a winner to wire exposures one of the best coach in the nba. Right now tyrod lou right thing that will brown coach that team terror lou did get lebron's Demand to be successful and to knock him play as much The job to tyronn lue. Now show that. He's a successful coach. But why los angeles clippers. All that guy gets grouped together. You look at referral right. I mean the ability of him to coach guys like luca coach guys like dirk get. The most out of their games is important. Gregg popovich way different ten donkey for tony parker. What he did for modern nobly kawai leonard. So coaching matters at the et matters. A lot and larry brown is a staple in why coaching does math staple a staple on because what he did is he. He allowed the players to be the best version. Says he led the team to be the best version themselves and he still won anyway he won and was successful and that's so important so important is because he he he had to evolve from the trump did the different times Guy codes for two years coach since nineteen seventy. That's not easy. But how he learned how to adjust to learn had to be better. I guess teams better again. You know his teams actually played very similar styles but in philadelphia they needed. Alan iverson the scoreline points. They didn't have a lot of scoring in detroit. They needed a collective unit offensive. Wait with good defense. His his his defensive philosophies were excellent one way successful. I coach but his ability to adjust the offense schemes based on the team of the ad. Big reason why he's. It's really a successful. I coach so. I wanted to make sure people understand here. Is that while. We always quick to criticise set Quick to jump saying the.

"When I'm around those guys, you see, man, those guys put in a tremendous amount of work. They're working 18 hours a day and they're getting fired. They're moving from here to there. There's no stability. And then you see Tommy Heinsohn, who's been there forever. So I started doing small things for at the time. It was Comcast. Now it's NBC sports and I started doing like small things for them and just trying to stay on their radar. And I remember when I lost when we lost in. I was playing for the Chicago Bulls, and if we would have won the series I would have played for we would have played the Boston Celtics in the second round. Well, Derrick Rose gets her. We lose that series to Philadelphia. I make one text message, and I said, Hey, I was wondering if I can do some some, uh Media work for you guys during this series. I really know this team well, and I know your team. Really? Well, good for me to get out there and try some stuff and man, I went to do my exit meeting with the Chicago Bulls and these guys hit me up like time I got my phone back. It was 35 40 text messages Get over here. How do we get you a flight and everything, and I had opportunities after that to go play overseas and do everything like that. But like you mentioned these jobs don't come around very often. I just want to take advantage of that. And it was kind of like became my plan since 708 to take over for Tommy Heinsohn whenever he decided to step down or whatever, great so That was my plan, and, uh, you know, I did all the right things, but I was also very fortunate and timing and life is every that's a part of it, And there's no question that's a part of it. But you also have to have ability and talent. And clearly you have that. I remember back in the day. Brian when I used to listen to Bob Cousy and Tommy Heinsohn do games and Mike Gorman and and cozy It was the same thing right. He's getting a little bit older. Health health situation, So he couldn't do the road games anymore. He would do road games here and there and Tommy, you know, stop doing the road games, but I think you and Mike Gorman have great chemistry. And you guys do a fantastic job. There's no question about that. So how weird is it? How weird is it for you though, to not be playing and just to be watching NBA basketball? Um I would imagine, you know, you watched a lot of basketball growing up in your playing days. You're you're breaking down film. But how is it like Because you're not. Obviously you're not the first and you're not the last to make that transition. But how is that? Like been for you and I and I know you talked about your competitive nature and the Big three, which gives you that, But when you're watching a lot of basketball would imagine you're itching to get out there and plays well, or am I wrong? No, You're right. For the first year all I wanted to do with play, and I remember Tyronn Lue was the assistant coach, and he still hoped all the time And we would have these like Marathon three on three games. That really two hours that's honestly was unbelievable. And the whole we have seven game series and they would just be grueling, like spice to break out and stuff like that. So I was the broadcaster. He was the coach that we would play every day and hold on. Stop. Hold on, Let me stop you there. So Tyronn Lue's team comes to town. He's coaching Your broadcast was he was a coach on the Celtics. Okay, so he comes to town and you guys are having what do you do? Do you go to like a Celtics practice and you get a couple guys that are on the team? How does that come about? Like just Tron. Luke, come up to you and say, Hey, you know, I want to. I want to ball with you guys. Let's get some games going like, How does that come about? I'm just curious. Yeah, So you got to remember he was so he's the assistant coach on the Celtics. Right shoot around. It would get like two or three coaches and get like a couple of players that we're playing. Very, very many minutes and shoot around all the buses will leave and we'd be at the that's awesome Rockets facility. And we would just hope for, like two hours. I love song games like emotionally spit. And so that happened the first year and I remember like those guys really dark, still playing in the NBA. That's obviously not like a rotational player or anything like that. But like it. If you needed me for a game here and there, you can count on me. But then for the following year I go and coach Golden State warriors. I'm on Mark Jackson's staff and, you know, early on they need. They need bodies. So I'm playing with Steph Curry, Draymond green. David Lee Thompson. All those guys right? I'm dumb Harrison Barnes. I'm working those guys out and playing those games. But here's what happened. I play on Monday. I'm good. I play on Tuesday. I'm a little bit off. But those guys are playing Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and by Wednesday, Michael, You could feel like my body. I wasn't recovering my Thursday I could barely move on Friday like I was I was shot. Okay. Clearly, I probably couldn't even made a free throw like my body was just starting to shut down because those guys were getting stronger and I was like going downhill. Then I take the weekend off and be fine..

"Star, Gee, honest, and now they head into the finals against the Phoenix Suns tomorrow night. Janice has been kept out of the media gaggle today because of his Possible in, uh, as possible unavailability in the game tomorrow to hear about more we're bringing on Bobby Marks. ESPN NBA insider to break it all down for us, Bobby How we doing, man? I'm good. Ryan. How are you? I'm great. I had a great holiday. Um, got some good sleep. Got to work out in this morning. And so I'm just fired up for these NBA finals. I'm a big Phoenix Suns fan. I like them from about mid season. Chris Paul had a chance at M V P. Talk to us talk to us a little bit about what this matchup is going to look like for everybody out there. Yeah. I mean, I think it's probably the best thing that could happen to the leak. And I say that, you know, probably people in l A or probably wait a minute. You know we want LeBron or we won't know why. Or point, Georgia, you know? Steph Curry that group, but I just I just think it gives you a kind of a fresh outlook as far as two teams that have played a pretty high level all year. Um, this Phoenix team, um, is the favorite as they probably should be. Just because of the you know, with the honest injury here, but Um, you know, second best record in the Western Conference. It's been a long rebuild, as you know, from where this team was when you know Devin was drafted in 2015 to kind of Chris Paul trade in the offseason, certainly with Monty Williams as her head coach, but it's going to be I mean, you've got to to high level guards with certainly with Chris and then you've got you holiday in Milwaukee and all NBA level defender Has played exceptionally well, since you know during these playoffs, certainly with the honest out, Chris Middleton is a you know, you know, a closer you know, certainly an all Star. Um, Dave played since the honest has been out, you know, you know, they played out at a high level to finish off, you know, to finish off Atlanta here, and I'm expecting a I'm expecting a good series. I think we might go traditional like old days. Digs where we've got DeAndre in Brook Lopez. You know, I know Brooklyn kind of stretch out to the pain. I mean to the you know. The three point line, but I'm kind of too big that are going to be more post up threats here and he is this could be this could be a really good one. You mentioned it a little bit. There were talking with Bobby Marks. ESPN NBA This insider here about the NBA Finals. Um You talked about what? What people want it? Um and I I wanted to know whether the, uh the ratings and things like that we're going to be affected when you didn't have. Let's say this will be the first time that In the finals in like 10 years that it hasn't been a curry and a James in it at some point, and those are the biggest names and these are. These are times where things involve where things change where things move forward. And are we at that point in the NBA and you better get used to it. The Phoenix Suns. It's been 50 years. Or the box has been 50 years. The sons they haven't been to a final since 1993 is this Is this how the league is moving now, and we got to be okay with it because the stars are are starting to fade. Yeah. I mean, I think you know certainly was with both teams. I mean, these teams are built for sustainable success. It's not like this is going to be a one and done and then you know, we're not going to see them for another four or five years. I don't think so. I mean I think what has shown Ryan is that this league is in good hands with a lot of these younger players, you know, with certainty in Phoenix with with Booker and McKell, Bridges, DeAndre and we've seen it during the playoffs with Luca in Dallas. We'll see if Zayn get this New Orleans team into the playoffs next year here, But the league is in great hands and eventually LeBron James of the world and Steph Curry's Those guys, you know they do age and the next line of guys. To kind of step in is what we're going to see over the next over the next two weeks here, so From a rating standpoint. Yeah, I mean, certainly you want sometimes bigger market teams, But, um, From a legal standpoint, this is the ability to showcase. You know, teams that are a little bit of a mid mid market and I think it's I think it's good that you have a team like Milwaukee. That's in a mid market here that it shows you that if you draft well, um certainly with the honest where they selected him the holiday trade in the off season. And then you kind of just add veterans around him with Lopez P. J. Tucker trade in this past March. That you can build it that way, and that you don't have to go out and try to attract high level um all stars as free agents. And then I think it also shines a light on how well the coaching has been. I mean, Nate McMillan. Taking over a team midyear, taking them to the playoffs and taken into the Eastern Conference finals. You know, Mike Budenholzer, you know, not able to get it done in Atlanta in the eyes of people to go to Milwaukee. And do what he's done. Tyronn Lue with the L, A Clippers losing their best player, and then, of course, Mo Williams in Phoenix. I think this is just really showcased the great coaching at the very top as well, Not only the great play But the coaching has been significantly good..

"Uh, DeMarcus cousins last night, Marcus Morris last night. They figured out ways to contribute because they had to And also a level of credit has to go to Tyronn Lue. And I heard Paul George mentioned something after the game. That seems Obvious. But Don't think that every coach and maybe Doc rivers. Doesn't have This, uh, doesn't have this level of awareness. Or has the ability to do this? I mean me that that's why we saw Philadelphia failed just like the Clippers team he led last year failed. But what Paul George said after the game. Was Tyronn Lue. Doesn't even bring up the magnitude of the game. Because he understands And he has experience right coming back from 31 down and you can give credit to LeBron all you want, And I think that LeBron deserves The lion's share of the credit when you have the best player in the league That certainly helps, but having gone through it in Cleveland, He learned some things. And with this Clippers team, he's not in the locker room, saying this is the biggest game of the season, saying, this is your season saying if you don't win this were done. You know, state? Why doesn't he say those things? Because these are grown men. These are grown men that know how to do simple math. First 1 to 4 winds were down 31. I think we need to win tonight. So it doesn't have to be brought up. And in fact, if you bring it up Then you're going to be Creating more pressure. On the guys because they're listening before they go out onto the court. How they are facing the abyss. They don't need to be told that they know that And again, it seems like such an obvious thing, But there are coaches who don't do that who pile on the pressure. Maybe it's because they feel like if they don't say anything, then they're not doing their job. I don't know what the reasons are. But Tyronn Lue with the perspective he has Being in the position that the Clippers are now. And have been routinely down 20 in these playoffs, just saying you know what they understand it. They don't need me to tell them. And I keep hearing the word desperation. That the Clippers play desperate last night. Don't know that they did. I saw I saw a team that was loose. Saw a team that was moving the ball around that was getting everyone involved. I saw a team that was playing free. That didn't look like desperation. But one thing's for sure. Phoenix did not match whatever that was last night desperation. Uh, execution. Relaxing whatever it was, in fact, the Phoenix Suns may have been too relaxed. To go in a 22 5 hole. They didn't match the Clippers. Whatever you want to label the way they came out last night as The Sun's didn't match it. And now as the series goes on, The Phoenix Suns, who many of them have not been in this position before, and even their veteran leader. Who has meant so much to this team, Chris Paul Even he Has not been able to break through this round. So, yes, Chris Paul is a veteran. But he's never punched the ticket to the NBA Finals. Has he learned from prior mistakes? Absolutely. He has But I think If this goes to a game seven Phoenix is in trouble. I think that Phoenix can go into l A and when They've shown it before. Very recently. They can win Game six and finish this thing up. But if they don't If we see a carbon copy or close to it of the game we saw last night all of a sudden. Now it's the sons that are gripping. And Kim, Monty Williams push the right buttons to get this team. To play with purpose. And that's the way I would put it, not desperation purpose. And be able to alleviate some of the pressure that they're going to be facing. I do think that Phoenix still ends up winning this series because at the end of the day, they are a better team than the Clippers. But in sports, there are these these ancillary forces. That sometimes make the better team not come out on top. And the longer this series goes. The more of those forces come into play, and now the pressure shifts over to the Phoenix sun. And maybe it's already there to an extent, but I don't know I saw in the first five minutes a team that was pretty relaxed. It didn't seem like they were gripping at all. They just seemed like they were too casual last night. What a great team win by the Clippers and for local story. How great has the Reggie Jackson's story, Ben? Local kid. As Ben. You know, And in in Detroit, he was labeled as You know, overpaid. He has to go to L. A to prove himself. And he hasn't really done it and then quiet goes down, and he takes it upon himself and says, I'm going to be the guy to stand alongside Paul George and lead this team and he's been brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. And he is going to cash in. As Chris Paul said about DeAndre Ayton. He's going to get a bag. This summer. Reggie Jackson is And he deserves it because he's been fantastic 522987 to take your thoughts on Clippers sons. Will stick with basketball coming up. In the in the conference semifinals. Is the box and nets, which Will get decided tonight in Brooklyn. On the West side. The Clippers did a couple of things that are unprecedented number one. For the first time in team history, the Clippers are into the Western Conference finals. I saw that again. A few places today I had completely forgotten that At this team's history in L. A has been so abysmal filled with dysfunction. Donald Sterling Bad draft picks. You had a few close shaves their when they had Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and could never break through. So in that way, it's pretty ironic, actually. And very strange. I guess it's consistent with the Clippers franchise history that you know it can't be something that's predictable or traditional. That They get to a conference finals. Without Hawaii. Leonard, the guy that was supposed to be the franchise savior after winning the NBA championship in Toronto and doing it with the rappers and picking the Clippers over the Lakers and rejecting an opportunity to go back. But it would really just be an extra Lakers home game and the Clippers would be a road team in their own arena. And in the last few years, they become more relevant ever since the sale of the team. You know they've had Playoff appearances. But this is the first time after what happened last year with Doc Rivers in the bubble and the team just completely melting down. There were a lot of skeptics, and I think one of the Other things we're learning about this year's NBA playoffs is that we should not take or translate results from last year in the bubble and apply them to this year's playoffs. So things that happened there down in Orlando. Chief among those things that were anomalies what the heat did to the Milwaukee Bucks. We're learning that you shouldn't take those things. And I guess look at the Clippers as a team that falls apart or collapses or isn't meant for playoff basketball, largely because of the way they came up short last year. I think surprisingly. Wouldn't have said this at the time. I think they've upgraded at head coach. Tyronn Lue won an NBA championship. With the Cavaliers, but I think he was mostly looked at Like and there aren't a lot of coaches like this. There aren't a lot of head coaches and professional sports. I would say this about, but I think Tyronn Lue was looked at, like Hey, Barry Switzer with the Cowboys. Coach who was there? But he had such a good team. That the results Weren't really A byproduct. Of any kind of real coaching. Maneuvers that you know it had nothing to do with a coach. Pushing the right buttons are pulling, pulling the right strings. The Cavaliers one because they had LeBron James Kyrie, Irving Kevin Love, etcetera, very little to do with Tyronn Lue's coaching tactics Well, It gets down to in two series against Dallas. Against Utah, the team that was from pillar to post the best team in the NBA this season. And yet his team was able to win four in a row, which, by the way Coming from an 02 deficit in winning a series doing that twice in one playoff that had never been done before. So the Clippers took a very circuitous route to get to this point. When the season started. The odds makers and the NBA media said that the NBA the NBA's Western Conference finals would be the Clippers against the Lakers. So what the Clippers have done right now, basically. Is that they have met expectations anything from here. Is beyond that, Uh, they're kind of playing with house money. Although I would say that this Chris Paul situation complicates things because of the sons and they shouldn't they won't have them for tomorrow. If the sun's don't have Chris Paul for the majority or the entirety of this series. Well, then, you know, all of the onus here is on the the Clippers to get the job done. There'll be a huge favorite, and they'll be the hunt bid and not the hunter or so to speak. And so for that reason You know, I think At that point, the sons would have the roles reversed and they would be You know such a big underdog and They would really not have much pressure put on them to win the series. But anyways danger Philip Pony, the Pony Express, CBS Sports radio. The Clippers are here in the Western Conference finals. And I think what this does Is it makes for Really strange. Uh, a strange situation for the NBA. I think that what the NBA what We're watching transpire before us in these NBA playoffs. Is that in one breath On one hand, It's good for the NBA that a team in Los Angeles Has made it this far and that a team in New York and Brooklyn might make it this far or that far on the eastern side of things that you would have the two biggest media markets in the US Now not with huge fan bases, but you would have teams that could potentially grow their fan bases and grow their audiences in New York in L. A in the league's Final four And that way, I think I think Adam Silver and the NBA and NBA media would look at that as a good thing. But the flip side of that is You've got teams that are getting this far. In the case of the Clippers, and if the Nets win tonight. And they're doing it. They're doing it by building super teams with player freedom of movement. With guys that decide that they don't like where they are. And even if it's not straight, unrestricted free agency, where they're wined and dined and recruited, like they're coming out of high school and going to college, where it's kind of recruiting all over again. Make it worth my while. Present me with something. Put it all on the table. It's not only that it's also guys that basically pile or sit out until they get traded. Until they get to the destination where they want to be. And so you've got that with.

To get in on the action 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 is the number to call the big story Right now In the NBA, As I see, it is two fold. It's the Western Conference finals set, and it's the fact that we're still waiting on teams to make it out of the eastern around. And you know the big The big signature Big Spotlight series. Without Kawai Leonard, the guy that was supposed to be the franchise savior after winning the NBA championship in Toronto and doing it with the rappers and picking the Clippers over the Lakers. And rejecting an opportunity to go back to Toronto and defend his title that he would pick the Clippers. Kind of going back home. He's a Southern California guy. Why wouldn't they? They're not going to get a star unless they trade for one. Yeah, I know. How did they get Gilchrist? If I was saying, Look, I don't like Ben Simmons as a player. Maybe it's just my own personal dilemmas. Yes, In this instance me, either. I'm saying they have to make a change. And Ben Simmons has to be the guy that goes. Would you trade Ben Simmons? Jack Room to Sacramento. With the Aaron Fox and Fox. I would do that. Would do that. You know, I'm saying the Aaron Fox is not happy there. Yeah, man. We don't care where you go, would you? Would you do that? First, You have options. Ben got to go and you get upgraded gets proper conversation. Let's be clear. My first call and my second call, and my 10th call are all going to Portland. But look what the Clippers last year blowing leaves. I mean, yeah, entire right around losing coach if Tyronn Lue was able to to win Well, basically, you know, a little better roster that speaks a lot to his ability. Like the The problem with dot in the criticism of dog and I think it's fair if he's too late to make the necessary adjustments. He slow to the party right when he had that second unit out there and they started to wane. He stayed with him too long. You think about last year and what the criticism is coming from the locker room. He couldn't make the adjustment to the pick and roll. Um, you know, with Murray and yolk it he couldn't devise a plan. He was late to the party. That's the problem with Doc. And like I said, your sale on Barton Han. Very good show. Um, that When you think about, you know docks, is he the Tony Dungy? Can't coaching somebody you guys are the third team in New York reclaim. You're not that you're good. We only one that actually are in New York. Well, read that for another big listen. Ben Simmons. All the talent in the world, but those eyes are blank in the last few minutes of the game, man, it's sad, so he's got to go and be the show between the two of them and beat has shown that he is the one That needs to be focused on. So get rid of been. I like that. The Aaron Fox trade. I like those. Okay. See trade. You probably get a good they got what, seven. Draft picks next 10 years get something from the 18 2 1st round picks over the next seven years. Yeah. You can get one of those who've been Yeah, and one of those guys and also this this is this is a young player for a young player. Right? Darren Fox 23. I think Ben Simmons 24 25 You think about point Guard for Point guard. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery. Right, and you can get been a change of scenery because I don't think he can walk the streets of Philly anymore, especially after this year's if they if they lose this series, I think they're fed up with him. They turned on him the other night. He's never been enabled for entirely too long enough is never improved. He hasn't improved what great players don't improve. So sometimes you need to get out of that big market. People don't consider Philly big market, but it's a market where you get scrutinized. I think he's the Carson Wentz. Uh, the of the NBA, right. I think they just fed up with him because they thought that he was greater than he had something that he had. Clutch gene. He doesn't have a class Jean him for the Aaron Fox made the Aaron Fox 25 3 and seven assists. I mean, I think that's an even swap, but I think it's an upgrade..

"Biggest story of the week. Ever euro Stepping down the late George flips it high off the glass and in his 1st 30 point game since late April, has put the Clippers up it. Does it circus shot going in off one FT. Neck of an offensive move by Paul George. That call courtesy is being radio after dropping the first two games Erin in the Western Conference semifinals L. A Clippers bounce back in Game three. At the Staples Center, 1 32 to 16 and Clippers coach Tyronn Lue. He was looking for a prime performance from both George and Kawhi Leonard and they both delivered Grey eight games to get L. A back into the second round series here against Utah. Who I had 34 12 boards. Paul George, added 31. What a difference. Playoff P makes. I mean, he was in great form. Last night, he shot just 34% from the field in the first two games. We went 12 of 24 last night. Including six of 10 on three pointers. Erin It feels like when George is playing this well, and when he performs like this, it makes all the difference in the world. Well, pandemic P was back to being playoff P last night and whatever P the lake the Lakers. I'm used to having an L. A team. The Lakers have still left in the playoffs at this point. No, no, the Clippers When the Clippers get this Paul George, I think they're the favorites to win the Western Conference. What we don't know is whether they're going to be able to get this Paul George three more times in this series. To be able to help them advance, But I thought they looked really good. Last night. I thought they made some great adjustment adjustment. Civica Zoo Batch didn't get any minutes They played smaller. They played faster. They got more easy shots, and then you know the other turning point here. Katie is this Donovan Mitchell ankle injury if that's not back to 100%, or close to it. This series might have flipped. I don't know what to expect from the Clippers playoffs. They've been dead and alive, like three different times already in this postseason. Well, they're so streaky into your point, making the adjustment of going small. I think it led to great perimeter shooting. I mean, it's hard to lose. When you're 19 of 36 on three pointers, Reggie Jackson added 17 points..

What sixty percent very impressive and not as the twenty four free throws at this team may twenty four twenty four and game seven but in general. This is the beginning of the journey for this unit. You can't exercise demons if you don't get to the place where you guys were assembled to get. They're going to have their hands full in the next. So no demons. Exercise infrared guy solo. Speaking of we go to the idea they exercise. Demons is patently absurd franchise. That's never made it to a conference finals. They were in the second round last year. The idea is to get first ever conference finals. But as ramona brought up you know some of the little things that happened out there marcus. Morris seventh reports. Nicholas platoon larry. Brown was you said we need bowl. Moore's that was nicholas Gets the ball. He gets the ball he moves it and then twenty four twenty four from the free throw line and then how about thirty assists. Eight turnovers for the clippers. That's how you win. Close out games. Give them credit winning that game. Six big but they're this is a cheaper together when a championship. Not be dallas in the first ramona. You brought up toronto blue and what he brought to the team this year. 'cause so much attention was out who is gonna coach. This team doc. I know they have choir. I know they have paul george. I know that's when they should be able to kind of edge way but it feels like at home with the moans and groans especially after last season that will just be like free fallen for the mavs if they lose like. They didn't need to be there. I could see the clippers. Get kinda tightening up similar to what the hawks did. So the clippers need to and what happened last year versus the nuggets. I now what i will never do. Personally i abraham ground is bet against lettered in game seven. I will never do that as long as i wrote. Miss earth after what i experienced. I will never do that. Yeah and i'm sure like i said only seven times in the first half so far he'll shoot twenty in the second half of the shooting like his slashes in this series like sixty fifty and one hundred. I can't believe that this is where we've come. You know where we are With floyd mayweather. He's totally right with all of his quotes. Like why the hell wouldn't i do this. I'm getting paid thirty million dollars to step into the ring with a youtuber. Like i've never lost a fight. He did you hear his quote. It actually could be top five quotes of alta said. It's highway robbery right. No he said it's a it's it's a legal robbery is like i can't believe we're at that point with boxing nowadays. Can't say seven. I think i can. Do you think together taller than new. So he seems small on the court but look at his face. Okay anyways back to the original point. We talked about a lot of them. Should on this pod. If i were to ask you abe how much money to step in a ring against mayweather you probably would have said like oh i do it for ten million dollars some shit like that. Logan paul made that dream a reality. So absolutely we're talking to begin to exist and right. I mean that is credit to him a lunch a lunch table conversation when he was in like high school. Yeah he was. Like i fight for ten million like how. He's doing it for three stabbed. Yeah so that's good for him but prediction the fight fully mayweather. I don't care. Logan paul's stronger taller. It's not guys it's not with it. It just takes one okay. It took one for cannella. It took for pack. Yeah if they didn't hit him. I promise you. Logan paul will not be the one to connect with their. I don't care on the flipside. Let me how'd you out just small steps. Small step watched the mcgregor fight. His length gave floyd a lot of problems. Logan paul logan five inches taller. I was just crazy cool so just throwing that out there. In case like devil's advocate guy. "Not just what's happened and this is the way that Dynasties or quasi dynasties and go back. Everybody points to the fact that that Kobe and And shack hate each other at the end of the three peat. They did. They did. They didn't get along. But Rick Fox got hurt car Malone got hurt. That was part of the reason why they were so limited when they you know, when they split early with the with the Pistons. They went back to Detroit like never came back. Nobody believed that if you remember I covered that Syria's dog and Remember media members after you remember, because the Pistons should have one game to Kobe hit that three, and then they won in overtime. And people are like, Okay, that's it. You know, the Pistons got there one way, and that's gonna be the end of it. That pissed. His team was a really good team. Not with great players per se, but just together. And that was the beginning. And that was the end of the lake that run with the Lakers, and everything changed after that. So like, Look, you can we can go back through picked the dynasty and with exception of Jordan, retiring I mean, what ended even the Warriors dynasty where they won two in a row. Like like they're beating the beating The Raptor. If everybody outside of Steph Curry doesn't get hurt, I gave on loonies hurt. And, of course, Clay gets hurt in Game six. They were still competitive in game 26 games without Kevin Durant. He could have made it. If Steph Curry made that shot, they could have won that game dog and now there's no question seven on my right. He got a look at the game. But the point is like If Clay doesn't get hurt, they might win the Syriza. If Cady doesn't get hurt, they definitely win. The serious injuries have brought down In injuries and most injuries because of age, But some just injuries have brought down more of these dynasties or quasi dynasties than anything. And I just wonder if that's that's what happens to the Lakers. And it really the juxtaposition of the Clippers, who 72 hours ago. Whatever you know, go back to Friday afternoon dead. We're dead, and the Lakers were like, dude, we don't have to play the Clippers again. They dodge dust in the fur in the second round. We don't have to play him again to now the Clippers feeling like they have complete control of their Syriza's and the adjustment that Tyronn Lue's made. In combination with Luka having whatever's going on with his neck. I get it. That thing looks over. Suppose the Lakers are now like Holy crap. We could lose to the sons who we wanted to play because it's a positive match. Of course. Yeah, no doubt about it. I think Laker fans are Very, very concerned. And the table that quickly have turned. And if the sun's go back, you know the Phoenix Game five and they were able to win that, and there's no Anthony Davis than then the Lakers goose will be cooked. I mean, that obviously is a huge game. And, um, I picked the sons in this series to start, Doug. I did because you're You're that guy. I am that guy. I picked the sons. And I don't really believe the sons were gonna be there at full strength. You really believe the sun's be glad I did, because I didn't think the Lakers would be a full strength. Okay? It's fairly that didn't just Was like this just didn't know it was gonna get hurt, But you felt like somebody's gonna get hurt. Yes, I felt like they were not gonna be able to complete the Syriza without Piece missing and sons and longer How much magic you have, like, Look, we're getting and people doing a memorial day as well. Which I don't know. Like they do the fireworks thing. I remember there was 1/4 of July I was in drum right, Oklahoma. And All these guys are like volunteer firefighters. So that's like there. Hey, I can like whatever fireworks possible and you know you spend like most day drinking and cook it out. And this is before I had kids. And I just remember all these guys going off into a field to light off these big fireworks. And that was my thinking. I was like, I don't know who's gonna get hurt, But somebody's gonna get hurt in this sort of thing. And I'm gonna do is I'm gonna remove myself and I'm gonna go stay even though I like seeing things blow up. Right, Like Like, like, like, I like seeing by works like any red blooded American man. I like that. That's how would you I'm out the way but I'm like, Take. I don't know which one of you guys is gonna end up losing the digit. But it's not gonna be me, so I'm gonna remove myself. That's how you looked at the Lakers. Syria's to begin with I really did, And I just thought the sun's air young and people discounted them the whole way. As if all the games they won during the regular season didn't matter. I mean, that's all I heard was. Oh, Who are you afraid of? In the West, Not Utah or not? The Sun's and I'm just like Really those games Don't count at all what they were able to accomplish. Devin Booker. Nothing. He did matter. They were all dead straight. Phoenix is full strength. The Lakers are beating Phoenix. We'll strike. They're they're better than Phoenix. It's a bad matchup for Phoenix. I would disagree with you there, but the thought that somebody's going to get hurt that one. I understand and know Saddamists. It did, in fact come true. He's Rob Parker. I'm Doug Gottlieb in for.

There is even though there was a point into the third quarter game one the Celtics were hanging. It's so boring. Uh, this thing is over. I don't know how the Celtics even remotely get a game. This this serious has been rough. So far. It is because the Celtics look, they might get some good scoring from Jason Tatum in a game, right? They may get you know Kemba Walker and knocking down a couple of shots. But they simply can't compete with the scoring ability and then as of late, and this is what's most impressive BTV like the defensive acumen. Brooklyn Nets. There's one thing we knocked about them all season long. Was that they did not. They're not playing defense and there and the ex, not excuses, but the reasoning for their increased defense oppression. Press pressure, um is was interesting is like, Well, we're playing a serious now s o the regular season. You know, it's kind of one offs, maybe two games said. But you know, we're way don't really have time to game plan without time to practice, But when we can practice against these guys then then we come up with different ways. The To do it, which, when I heard it, it was interesting because it almost is. It made me think about how we view the regular season and for these elite teams in newer, even without even trying, really, we're going to be in the top two or three. Like the like. The Brooklyn Nets. The regular season was just was really just to get yourself ready. For the postseason. It's not really for positioning and home court, especially in a year with the pandemic and no crowds. It was Maura about Let's get let's be healthy, and once we get to the postseason, we'll try. We'll start trying to implement the things that matter on both ends of the court, as opposed to just figure out how to score, but I can't overreact. I'm not saying that you are, but I don't take anything away from their defensive performance. The Celtics are going nowhere. I mean, there's no threat. There's no threat. So when there's no threat, it's easier to deploy the feet. I mean, 48 plane almost 30 minutes tonight. Yep. You know, they got him in the trade. I mean, obviously taken, he got banged up. He played only 20 minutes. Kristin Thompson. Even though he had a good game. You know, we scored some buckets. He is a complete non entity on offense. Campbell Walker's proved to be, um at times dynamic as you point out, but oftentimes inefficient on his career numbers back that up on this, mama Marcus. Smart fan is tenacity. I love him. But he's not the most reliable shooter. So this is pretty easy team to defend. What what? The only real subplot here is the reaction to carry Irving now that he goes back to Boston has yet to play there for the rest of the circumstances as as an ex Celtic And he touched on that post game and he went to a very interesting spot. I'm just looking forward to People, my teammates and hopefully we could just keep it strictly basketball. You know, there's no belligerence or any racism going on.

"When he says, you know, puts the NBA's put the most games on. I think he means that they're highlighted more because they're the Nets, and they have star talent. Newsflash Carrie Irving, When you assemble this mega power team that Z kind of what happens, you know that that's that's kind of what they do. Nobody's feeling sorry for you because so that's a ridiculous point of reference right there. LeBron's Del, This is whole life. Kobe del. This is whole career. So did shack. I stopped when the Celtics had the Big three Azzan East Coast rep. Even though that you know they didn't they were a little bit aging, like Ray Allen was all the book, but they run all the time. Star teams. Great teams deal with this, and that's the first point when he says the NBA put the most games honest that that's just That's his dumb, So I just that scratch that off that stupid number two covert. He's right. I defend. I totally totally defend him on that sloppily handled third point. The refs. Now this worries flat out erroneous. It's wrong. If you get to make claims, then you gotta back him up with facts. Otherwise, people like May will point out when you're wrong, and you're wrong because the Nets have attempted the eighth most free throw attempts in the game. So if you want to tell me that that's not congruent with their talent. I would tell you that I would tell you. I would point out the time to do what? I've done it, But you do it yourself. I would say going. Look at the advanced numbers and look at how many shots the Nets take in in the restricted area, And then this is all quantifiable. There are databases of this, as you know, the restricted area slightly outside the restricted area and then obviously deeper away. And what does that mean? It means you're a jump shooting team. When your jump shooting team you're not attacking the rim when you don't attack them, bring me not getting free throw, So it's very congruent with The way you play a third overall in the NBA and free throw attempts stopped crying. And the last one see, this is just this is entitled Men right this to me. This is where this is where? I'm just not a big carry Irving fan. I'm just not. I mean, you know, I respect his talent, and I always feel compelled to say this because I do think he's a really good person with good intentions, But he loses me when he says, literally battling so many elements, dude. You assembled? Not only did you join willingly, Kevin Durant. Okay. And as soon as you did that, boom, you know, wonder twin powers. Activate superheroes thing right Lead you lead you to do a legion of all the justice part of me. You knew the cameras were coming. And then once you trade for James Harden, you know that they're really coming. So you've got three of the top 10 players in the world on your team. You want sympathy that that's why I with respect. Do you think you know I love you, But, yeah, I think you focused on the wrong thing. They're like, Yeah, you are right about the cove it but it's the other three things that, he said. That rub people the wrong way and makes him seem out of touch. Yeah, well, I mean, it looks like he's trying to make an excuse, and it doesn't need to make an excuse. We know why you're not playing well because Kevin Durant's not playing every game. James Harden is still learning. You missed two weeks and you're just trying to figure out how to all play together. You all may be boys, but playing together it is. It's hard, right. It's hard to do it. Why you gotta give LeBron so much credit. For what he's done over the course of his career. He just goes into a new situation and they're in the finals right that. That's why LeBron is LeBron and he makes it look easy, but it's not easy, and I think, Kyrie Is seeing that now and look, he may have been, you know, because he likes to talk. And, you know, try to over explain things. Maybe that's what this was, Uh, I'm gonna react to what you say. I agree, so we could, but the reality is and we saw this last year with the Clippers. You really gotta Like put in the time together in order to get great. It's just not going to happen. It's why last year when they when the Lakers they started out. I mean, I've been losing to the Clippers the first game of the season like they were on fire and it was It was like it was intentional. They were trying to play aggressively both a D and LeBron leading the league in minutes, right. They were doing it on purpose because they knew that they had to accelerate. They're acclamation toe one another, and the Brooklyn Nets don't have the ability to do that one because of covert, which is absolutely right about but also simply because this this is a weird year and They have circumstances that don't suit them very well. Right now on day it's not going to get fixed anytime soon. I'll tell you this. We're gonna get to see if Kirk coming up next year. Three of the four things I think he sounds really fool the Shawn. But I will say this, you know, big picture, and I said this one what he was hired. The job is just too big for Steve Nash. The job's too big. Yeah, he's learning on the job. Just which, when you have superstars like this in their prime to not gonna sending players, guys who are, you know? Yeah, but in some ways, doesn't it remind you a little bit of Tyronn Lue when he was with the Cavaliers and, you know, assistant Steve Nash went from nothing to coaching. Yeah, but it was kind of like a buddy, but it wasn't like a personal code. Yeah, he works in clipboard. Yeah, yeah, It's different. It is. We'll see. But listen, whether that's a role in amazing to watch and when they're not They are very disjointed, very porous Defensive unit and if they don't know it was, I don't know how long it's gonna finish up for. We'll see that we'll be watching. That's for sure. You watch good or bed there. That kind of team acts update Steve Kerr going to great lengths to protect Steph Curry a little too much. Second round, by the way to let's not bury the lead on something. This interview was conducted by rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambus, which would lead you. I've been telling people is that who's do. I I understand that. But I'm saying it leads you to believe that part of this. Vacuum isn't just being taken up the power. Vacuum isn't just being sucked up by rob Pelinka. Kurt Rambis is putting himself in a position to gain more power. Well, I think it's already there. However, you want to phrase it it's been reported. And I, you know, a full disclosure here. Kurt's a neighbor of mine, I know him I like them. Occurred Kurt started traveling with us in the middle of the season. Just to be basically an observer. Well, I mean he was brought on as I forget the exact title by magic. I think it was last year like a basketball L salt because something like that like it or not the Lakers are a family business. The Lakers in US have this comment. Yes, they do. They they USC hires Trojans because they think Trojans will get we'll get there say something as an alum. I don't like it. Yeah. And what the Lakers are cutting a page out of that. I mean, if you want to really find the connective tissue. Dr bus was a Trojan there you go. But I think so I think you're going to hear Kurtz name a lot. I think Kurtz going to be around giving Jeannie trust him. And he's going to be giving nothing personal against Kurt. This is not how I do it. I think they are making a real mistake that insulate I just mean the tendency towards installation right there making a real mistake. But okay, so Kurt Rambis, and rob Pelinka interviewed Jason Kidd yesterday doesn't this prove that I'm right in Mason's wrong. That there is no shadow console. No, she does this. Honestly does this team? So far seem organized enough to pull off the shadow GM thing with women talking about that that would be an incredibly hard thing in this day and age to even orchestrate no I mean, I would love to feel confident enough in the Lakers that they could actually pull off the shadow GM very hard to do. Yeah. I don't feel. They can do it hard to do.

Cleveland Cavaliers turn in a disgraceful performance
"You have a team led by lebron james and it's inexcusable how cleveland can come out and play like that and i'm placing this at the feet of lebron james tyronn lue lebron james had those fantasy basketball numbers twenty six points ten rebounds five assists he didn't look engaged at all in this game and that clearly clearly was able to transfer to everybody else on this basketball team where you win this game five like i said in boston would be done they've only won one playoff game on the road this postseason you would've taken care of your business gone to the nba finals instead if you wanted to game seven fine but there's a better way to go about that if you're the cleveland cavaliers freddie how disengaged was lebron at times and then just lebron was his entire team but you know seven forty nine to go jeff green hits a three eighty three seventy one twelve point game it was a twenty what twenty two point game right so the cavs have cut it to ten we're going all right is this false hope or you know are we going to get a game here in an mba conference finals basketball game we saw two points scored in the next two and a half minutes and those two points came after lebron james at five nineteen to go dribble the ball directly out of bounds and in boston gets deuce alive seventy one and then that was it it was false hope from jeff green three and literally no one has the ball in his right hand he's he's you know and not even to the elbow and takes on the parameter writes his left side turns around and the ball goes into the second row when was the last time you saw that from the greatest player on the planet it was just ridic not even contested yeah no one was bothering it was just ridiculous and pathetic and cleveland you have nobody to blame for this but yourself freddie and fitz simons on espn radio presented by progressive insurance small business protection just got easier with more than thirty coverage options available progressive.
