"Hour, all good here as we continue. It's been a busy show a lot. A lot of things happening and we'll get back to the call. I'll call her our Melissa starts us off. Hello and Melissa. Hi, mister Paul. Hey there. How are you? Good. First time Paula, long time watching you. That's fantastic. I was calling in, did you notice every time expired calls in? He has a problem with LSU. Last week he was making fun of the week before. Being a valid tour in Louisiana and he said anybody can get that. And then now he's down and Kaiser stadium. I just next time he called, I would like for you to ask him what's his issue with LSU? Yeah, I mean, I didn't catch I forgot about the multi reference, but I will definitely do that. He's an Aggie fan. But anybody that ever goes to football, I mean, we're talking about a shrine of college football, Tiger stadium is one of the most iconic places to go to a game anywhere. All right. Yeah, that makes us wise. I really didn't know if he was protected or checked this out. Yeah, no, he's always talking about the Aggie. So I'm guessing, not that I have any experience at understanding fan bases, but I'm guessing that's where it goes. Yeah. All right, yes. Next time when you call just ask them what this issue with LSU and go tigers. You got it, Melissa, thank you very much. Great to hear from you, Dale in Colorado is up next, a hello Dale. Hey, bye, are you doing today? We are doing fantastic. Yeah, so I just got a couple quick questions, Paul. So I hear rumors that Alabama is like courting Taliban. From Miami, is that right? Well, Dale, I've heard those rumors, but I want to caution you just because there are rumors on the Internet that doesn't make them true. Okay, okay, but okay, so with that being said, Paul, so Tyler Van Dyke is a starter at Miami. Why would he want to come to Alabama just to be a backup? I mean, that kind of says to me that, you know, maybe saving Bama doesn't have confidence in the guys they have in that quarterback room right now. Well, I think there's some potential or possible truth to that. We had pat Smith on earlier. He covers Alabama and he said that the battle right now for Nick Saban primarily would be the keep whoever does not win the job there. Now, my question is, and this is an easier question in 24 hours, but there may not be a guy that comes out of that competition that looks like a championship quarterback. Well, I think you're right about that. Paul, I mean, I think there's big questions in that room right now. Yeah, I think there are a lot of questions, but again, what we're talking about here is scuttlebutt, we don't know, and I want to make sure everyone understands that. Maybe under this new Tommy Reese setup, they're comfortable with Kai Simpson doing what he does well or Miller, although I'm somewhat skeptical of that. Yeah, I'm so much scared. Even though I'm a dog fan, and you know that. So they can get Tyler Van Dyke or big Van Dyke. It doesn't matter. You know, I mean, I think. They want Dick Van Dyke as long as he doesn't drive. All right, thank you, Paul. I love your show. I never thought when I was a kid watching the Dick Van Dyke show. That 55 years later, I'd be doing Dick Van Dyke as too old to drive jokes. I just didn't think that was the funniest guy on TV. And I mean, that's what happens when you don't value. No. Logan is up next. Logan, you're on the air. Hey, Paul, happy Friday. How are you doing today? We are doing great. Thank you. Great. Hey, I've got a theory. Well, first of all, I want to tell you, I'm watching you live right now a little semi live on SEC plus. I was doing a test run for tomorrow's big game. Looking great. Oh, this is streaming service. There's a little bit of a delay, but there's not much. You're watching your TV, but you're seeing us on the streaming, right? Yeah, it's just like just like your show. And everything's the same. You're talking to the camera and everything. So it's pretty awesome. I just figured out that I could watch you when you're not on. I don't want to be the one that breaks this to everybody tomorrow, but I am going to. The two games tomorrow are going to be on this streaming service. It's service that you're talking about right now. Exactly. And I'm Randy Paul. I got my popcorn ready. I'm ready to see you. You're going to be a few people tomorrow that are a little bit bent out of shape, but that's the new world that we live in. Yeah, they no longer carry the game on ESPN with all the hype with all those big time guys. They're like they used to be, but that's fine. Everybody's excited to watch Colorado spring game. Oh, sweet. I can't wait. I'll try to get the outside to catch that too. But hey, I wanted to let you know, I got a theory about Jim. He's been kind of happy lately. I mean, happy for him. And I think his new friendship, but I man, I think our man might have slipped him some shrooms. Because I've been doing some research on that and there's some mental conditions that can be helped by magic mushrooms. What do you think about that theory? Well, it's been a long time since I've been in the shroom business, but yeah. But I think you're right. I think it's great, man. I think Jim's getting the help. Whatever help he can get, you know, that's great. It's helping him out. Good for him. Light up a shrimp here, Logan, and

"Frederickson. No. By the way, I just said that because I haven't heard that name in so long and he was an amazing player as you probably remember. It was in a kicker. It was a kicker. Okay. Okay. Let me tell. Sorry, it was one of the auburn kickers, I'm sure. Yeah. It was. Well, I'm glad we got that cleared up. Yeah, you want to. Never a good never a good sign when your kicker has that many points. I will. He was three time member of the SEC team firsthand. Is that Daniel? It was Daniel. I met him once, he's in an amazing guy. He's well deserving. Yeah. And I was worried about you when you were talking to Larry. He sounded like he's done that before. Well, he threatened to do it against another caller once, and that's where I got the idea. I mean, that's where I figured out what he was about to. In fairness to Larry, I don't think he really intended to kill me. I think he just wanted to threaten me. But I have notified the Shelby county sheriff's department, nevertheless. As we speak, headed in a caravan to Larry's house to arrest him for attempted murder. A threat, if you threat. And by the way, it's not involuntary. I mean, if it's premeditated and he threatened me, it is considered in Alabama, very serious. Yes, it is. My husband's a lawyer. We've got a selfie because I have threatened him with a whole campaign. Anyway. And by the way, I have asked the sheriff of Shelby county to just threaten Larry, not with, not with imprisonment, but just making sure that they're telling him if he threatens me again that I will make sure that he can not buy more than a dozen bud lights in any one given time. Well, then you have won the battle right there. Thanks, Colin. Thank you, chef. Thank you, miss pat. Miss pat's married to a lawyer who's also a congressional Medal of Honor winner wasn't, didn't she tell us that something like that? He won some couple of medals in Vietnam. I would say he's a smart guy to know. Let's check out Davis in Wisconsin. Hello, David, Davis. G star E father is four 20. I grew up in Hawaii. Was there a beach in Hawaii? There's a few beaches in Hawaii. Waikiki's and I used to stir up there. You know, the pipeline, but anyway, gee, the Greek from Arizona. Bam fans are delusional. They beat Mississippi, a good Mississippi state. One 49 is 6. The Mississippi baseball team at 60,432 and 40,000 people were trying to get in it. Doesn't sound like they're starting to party me. But anyway, you know, last year you called because you want to bring up the Mississippi state schedule and call for me again this year. Davis, what did I call? You called ten four. Ten, three somewhere got it right. Okay, whatever. David, how are you, how are you celebrating four 20? Oh, no. No. We're good, you know? We're good. I bet you are. Man, that was a fun call. Stephen, not being in my condition, but Steven is up next in Georgia. Hello, Steven. chicken. Hey, we're doing great. Thank you. Awesome. Hey, fine, bob. I got a couple of hot takes for you. Go. First of all, I'm going to tell you about the Alabama situation. There's some rumors floating around. I'll get to that in a second. But I've been telling you about I'm going to tell you why Larry's been so spicy. He's boycotted Bud Light. He just has that controversy last week. It is. So that's why he's been so spicy. But let me get to the rumor mill. All right? First of all, Alabama knows they don't have one quarterback. They don't have one. Guess who their shopping for? Tell us. Their sophomore for Tyler Van Dyke, you heard it first year, Tyler Van Dyke and once they figure out how much of a debacle their quarterbacks are, this coming weekend at the 8 game, they're going to come after a Van Dyke because they know they in trouble against Georgia. Any one of the three Georgia quarterbacks could start right now for Alabama. No questions asked. I think you're right about that. No, I know I'm right. And Larry doesn't have a clue. He talked about four quarterbacks. They ain't got one. I watched Bill role play last year and I know you did too. The guy can't throw the ball. I mean, by the way, as far as Van Dyck, there have been rumors all over the place today that he's considering moving on. I don't know whether he's the answer or not, but I do remember last year when everybody thought he was going to be a high pick. Yeah. Exactly. So I think Mick said those he's in trouble with that position. And the bamboo boosters know they're in trouble, so they're going to shop it. Mark my word Paul is coming and Larry's in trouble. Yeah, and by the way, I don't know if that's the answer. There are a lot of reasons why he was not successful last year, but I remember I can't remember it was somebody early in the season. They had been one of the gurus and it was right before the season. I mean, he was on everybody's Heisman list or projected, keep your eye on him, and then the whole season went down in smoke. Woody is up next in Georgia. Hey, woody. Hey, Paul, how you doing? We're doing well. Thank you. I just wanted to call in and I wanted to get my man Larry a shout out down there in Alabama. I just wanted to say, you know, I've been listening to the show for a long time. Listen to a lot of Alabama fans over the years and I just wanted to say, you know, he's Alabama fans, man. What was once such a proud prominent fan base and culture in the store, you know, I used to talk about when and championship, so he used to talk about being the best ever, a dynasty, and you know now the best thing that I can talk about is recruiting. And it just brings me down as a fan of the sport. What once was such a prominent program is just following so far. And decided to see. Don't you think? Well, first of all, it hasn't fallen very far. Thank you for the call. We'll take a break. Figure out all of these phone calls right after this.

"So I think Hartman's ability to navigate the pocket, get the shots off, is a big reason why this offense is so prolific, but you're not going to run this in the NFL. So how that projects forward, I have zero idea. I love that I asked someone about wake forest once. This was a couple of years ago before they right when they first started running this version of the offense and the guy said it was another college football coach and he said, you have to pay attention to what they're doing down there because this guy is either going to lose his job immediately or every team in the country is going to try to be copying what he's doing. Teams are starting to Stanford, David Charles Stanford came over, adopted this. It's really like you can not minor in this stuff. Yeah. Like you have got to major in what they do at wake forest. You either do it or you don't. He's cool though, he's got dare I say. Like a very and we got in trouble and I think we kind of over elevated someone's stock by doing this a couple of years ago, but there's like a very like on the place where he has to kind of scan and move laterally. There's like a little Aaron Rodgers in him. Like he's got a quick trigger. He moves, he moves well. I don't know. Something I like about Sam Hartman. It's curious, but the size thing is going to be concerned too. For sure. It's the size thing is going to be concerned. But he's good, man. He's a good player, and it's one of those things where it's like, I'm not saying you take this kid in the top 5, but like it's one of those things where I can see, you can all see very quickly how NFL offense NFL teams will fall in love with somebody like this if they're comfortable projecting that forward. Let's talk Tyler Van Dyke at Miami here. And I guess the first part of that question is what is going on at Miami in that they're losing games to middle Tennessee. And Van Dyke, a lot of hype coming into the year ends up getting benched during that game. I guess he is going to start again on Saturday. But what are we looking at? Red shirt sophomore, I mean, we could be talking about 2024 draft the way the season is going for him. Yeah, I think that Van Dyck has my thing with Van Dyke as I think his mind rights checks that his arms can't cash. I don't think his arm is really that great. I think some of his decision making is lacking. Obviously, like you said, he got benched against middle Tennessee two weeks ago. They play North Carolina on Saturday and it is a team that if you can't score on North Carolina, you're offense is a really, really rough. I mean, this North Carolina defense is about as bad as you will see. So the Detroit Lions of the ACC. Basically. They even wear similar colors, so it works. So I will be interested in Tyler Van Dyke over the back half of the season.

"Playoff game went, they're going to have to move on. And the reason I bring that up, they obviously they have the two first round picks. They have the same search around pick. It is, we can't say for sure right now, but odds are it's going to be a very quarterback rich draft. There are a lot of guys, whether it be CJ Stroud, Bryce young, will levis, Anthony Richardson, Tanner McKee, Tyler Van Dyke, I'm probably forgetting greyson McCall. Out of those guys, someone is going to emerge probably a couple of them are going to emerge as top half of the first round type of talents. And, you know, if the eagles don't have it in hertz, that's what they're going to have to do, or maybe they turn those draft picks into whatever veteran is kind of a little bit disgruntled by the time this year wraps up. We've talked, I don't know. How many hours do you think we've devoted to two otunga over the past year in a O'Connor? Like, probably like 14 weeks worth? Oh, at least, yeah. And for good measure somewhat, that was in hindsight, such a weird draft, right? Because Jill borough comes out of nowhere. And this is where a little bit, this is where you sort of question football coaching and scouting in general, right? How does Joe burrow who is now the closest thing that we've ever seen to Tom Brady. As a player, just get completely passed over for a majority of his career that emerges the number one pick. And then Justin Herbert, who's like the second closest thing we've seen to like a mobile Tom Brady. One of the best processing minds in football and there is no, give me, give me a like, how does this happen? It drives me. It's crazy. It's the old, you know, you could go back to, okay, well, you have Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time, shouldn't everyone just be drafting guys who profile like Tom Brady, and it doesn't really work that way because obviously you want some level of traits in your guys coming out. And Joe burrow isn't really a super Tracy guy, obviously just his functional athleticism. And I think you pointed out in your cover story on Joe burrow in Sports Illustrated. His functional athleticism and therefore his pocket movement. It's just absolutely perfect for the specific position. So while you wouldn't say, I don't know, 5 years from now, say, Joe burrow is not working out. We're going to move into receiver. That's not really, I mean, he's probably going to work out anyway, but he's not that kind of athlete, but he is athletically perfect for what they have at the quarterback position. Yeah. But the make or break stuff to me is not, in general, doesn't seem to be entirely consequential unless you're Miami. And Miami is interesting, right? Because you're losing equity. You're losing draft capital. All the stuff that you built up over that tanking period, you have now largely gotten rid of. There's nothing else there. Mike mcdaniel, your hope is that if tua doesn't work out that he can be a first in line kind of guy to draw one of the big boy quarterbacks and you wonder with Sean Payton coming back into the league at some point and we'll talk about him in a minute. going to complicate the line here? Because I think one of the interesting things, you know, Matt rule came into the league, right? He thought, okay, I'll get Matt Stafford and everything will be fine. It doesn't work that way. Like that deal was done way before you even thought about coming to the NFL. You know what I'm saying? And so if tua doesn't work out, how does Miami replace him, your first round pick has been donated. To the NFL. And so there's not a lot of options there. I mean, at best, you're looking at like a Jimmy G as you're opening day starter next year. Realistically? Well, or a Tom Brady. Yeah. Yeah. They're kind of on the record on that pursuit. Out of the three guys here, and I'm not saying it's likely to happen, but the only, I think the only possible mid season switch among these three guys is probably going to teddy Bridgewater if to a really does not work out. Now, theoretically, a lot of quarterbacks fit well in this in the Shanahan style offense. But if you are going to have two of just doing quick game quick game quick game, I mean that fits what he does. It should work out to an extent and then it's a question of, well, how much better do we need to get at this position to hang with the sort of the superhero type guys in the AFC. But yeah, the other guy, Daniel Jones, I mentioned, he's going to get the whole season to do this. I mean, the Giants are not really looking at this as a year where they're going to contend. Brian dabel obviously had a huge hand in developing Josh Allen. Daniel Jones is not near Josh Allen in terms of arm talent, but you can do some similar things with him as far as mobility and run game stuff goes. He's not quite the power runner, but obviously he's a guy who can be dangerous with his legs. If you put in some designs that are actual, you know, designs, unlike what the Giants have been doing the last couple of years, maybe you have some here. Maybe you have something here as sort of a mobile point guard type of guy and perhaps that's enough going forward. I don't think Daniel Jones has ever going to be a guy we talk about as like an MVP candidate, but I think you can absolutely turn him into, you know, Kirk Cousins type level. Sort of a plus game manager type of type of quarterback. And we'll find out this year if the Giants are on the right track with him, if they're not, obviously they have no, they have no commitment to and beyond the season, they'll probably be picking fairly high, and it's time to move on to the next guy. I introduced this in my QB carousel post a few weeks ago, Gary. But how do you feel about the Giants moving on from Daniel Jones? And in a bridge year experiment, bringing in the quarterback that Brian dabel recruited out of high school. To a tug of iloa. Boy. Whoo. It would. I mean, look, if I'm starting a franchise today, I'm taking danger Jones over tua, I don't know, man. It's like, this is a very simplistic way of thinking about it. But it's like, well, Brian Dave will just turn the most tools he quarterback needing into the NFL into an unstoppable force, you kind of want him to have another tools EI. You don't want him to have to kind of manage around the shortcomings of either guy, but I think to a tongue of Iowa probably has more shortcomings than Daniel Jones does. To a tongue of ilo is your local hardware store, Daniel Jones is Lowe's. Right? In terms of tools. That's what you're saying. Oh, that's I didn't pick up on that right away. That was nice. That was good, right? It's not bad. Yeah. Right? Yeah. And then Josh Allen is like the entire company of harbor freight, right? Yeah. He has more tools than we can even fathom. All of Arthur blanks Home Depot stuff. Just jumped into, I don't know, a small island nation. I like that. But we've talked about this, right? I think if there is, if

"Let me first, I somehow missed the Travis died transferred to Oregon until I read this couple in a couple of days ago when you posted it on Patreon and I'm like, Travis, I went to USC that's unbelievable. So good for him. Here are the college quarterbacks I'm excited to watch this fall. Keaton slovis at Pittsburgh is going to be awesome. Can not wait for him. I think Keenan slow this got kind of a raw deal with what happened at USC. He got hurt he lost his job, they got a new coach, whatever. He went somewhere, he was wanted, where they got a good offensive line, a good team around him, and I'm excited to watch Keaton's love as a Pittsburgh a lot. You mentioned it, I'll repeat them. See just drought at Ohio State. It's going to be awesome, Bryce young and Alabama, Caleb Williams at USC for sure. I think he's the best quarterback in college football, frankly. Will levis at Kentucky. Sure. It's funny both quarterback from Oklahoma last year went to a version of USC. Cable Williams went to Southern California and spends a rattler went to the other USC, South Carolina. I can not wait to watch Spencer Rattler play at South Carolina. Like him against SEC competition. Is going to be fascinating. I can not wait to watch that. You also got Sam Hartman at wake forest. He's good and fun. And I mean, I don't mean to no homo here, but Sam Hartman's gotta be like the most attractive quarterback in college football. If there was an award for that, that guy, he would win it. Then he got Dylan Gabriel, Oklahoma, Tyler Van Dyke, Miami. Got some possibilities here. I'm excited to watch JJ McCarthy at Michigan is really interesting. I think he could beat out kade McNamara, Clemson's going to have either DJ. We on the lay or cade club Nick be they're starting quarterback. That'll be interesting. I think Jackson dart's gonna start it all miss. Texas got queen ewers coming from Ohio State transferring in. I'm excited, man. Football in general this year is going to be unbelievable. The NFL is going to be, I think, an all time year, and college football has so many storylines and quarterbacks and moves and apparently colleges can enter the transfer portal now. Like, I can not wait at all. To watch football this fall, it's going to be really fun and we're only like a month and a half out. I gosh, man, I can not wait for football season. It's going to be unbelievable. And oh man, it's kind of overwhelming how much good football there's going to be going on this fall. By the way, that gives me an opportunity to say this, I want to, I didn't want to throw this into the episode, but it's not in my notes.
