"But seeing all vegan score goals brings me more joy than anything in the league right now. Yeah. Every time I'm not watching a capital's game and I look at my phone and I see he had another goal. I feel like when, you know, like an old movies when a guy would be looking at a newspaper and like a horsey bet on wins and he's like, he just like slaps the newspaper like, how? It worked. That's why I feel like every time I see a vegetarian scored another goal and like that crazy son of a bitch he did it. He did it again. I love it. So good. Okay, Tyler Bryant here asks, first it was Louis Erickson, then it was Sasha barkov, but now who is the most actual most underrated player in the league? You go first, because I have I have one guy I'm thinking of, but I don't know if you would say he's underrated or proper. What I would preface this with, it's really hard in 2021 to actually be underrated because everyone is just aware of everyone. Like, we're not at the point anymore where people are like only watching their team because that's the only game being televised and they're like looking at the newspaper to look at box scores to see how players are doing. Everyone knows, if you're a good player, regardless of which market you play in, you might not get as much coverage as if you play on the leafs of the rangers or whatever. But people are going to be aware that you're good. Now with that being said, my pick here is all over Buick strand, who is a really, really good player who is scoring at a very high rate yet again, and because he plays on the blue jackets and because he's kind of this quiet player who no one really would be able to pick out of a line or ever gives any remarkable quotes, no one really knows about him. But man, he is he's just been really good for a while now, so I think he's my pick for this. Okay, so then I think you would say that my choice is probably not going to be that underrated. But I put down Kyle Connor..

I think since we've had our next guest on the hook rocks. Obviously we all know a whole lot has happened in between his last visit and now And i'd like to welcome in chris lane from the new york band station. What's up man. how are you. i'm good i'm good. Thanks for having me. Thanks for coming back. I'm i'm so excited about the new album. I had a chance to listen to it. Loved it loved the the the music the lyrics the arrangements. The vibe of the record it is it is just tremendous thank you. I appreciate that i'm really. I'm really proud of this album. I i would say it's actually probably my favorite station efforts date so i'm really excited to share it with everybody. Now you guys self produced this. What was i mean. Was that just a a circumstance of what was happening in the world that you guys just decided a. Let's crawl into a bubble while everything is going on and let's just make this record So you know we've actually self-produced all four of our lp's but the difference is and i you know it's one of those things where it's like. What different here is that. We self made album like it's not just the production. It's everything it's the engineering. And it's the mixing and we did that on glass to a smaller extent but this was like full-on and What you know it. It was one part Circumstance obviously because you know it was hard to get together for a little while there but The other part of it was just that we invested in the ability to record everything ourselves Right after more than the moon and our second album so because we had that now it opened up the doors because we could spend time doing things that matter to us and not just having like look at the clock and say like i gotta get this done. 'cause my day at the studio is ever is over. So you know it really It really influenced our ability to to take the time where we thought we need to take time and produce something that we were very happy with as far as the music goes. What was the idea of of writing this time. I mean there's so much happening you know it's it's you're limited to getting together into having that face to face you know commitment to creating music what. How did you guys overcome these challenges. Well the music was actually written before the pandemic started. So it's funny that i think it's actually especially the subject matter is is pretty appropriate in the sense that like a lot of our very much about evaluation they're about perspective and they're about looking.

You haven't checked out the iron maiden album review for their latest seventeenth studio album. Please check it out. Seven jet sue is just an amazing record Maiden has done it again. And as i mentioned in the review it's like if you stir everything up that maidens done. it's a collective piece of everything that you have heard from them and like it's merged together in the perfect maiden stu all stirring it up stern all the ingredients a lot of different vibe to it as well some acoustic stuff that we don't normally hear on maidan records. We do here. But it's not as prevalent as it is on this one and also man just the just the epic material on the album. You know they've got like three songs. That are over ten minutes. "Kind of both kind of have like this theme with each song That's an interesting way to create music. Yeah no artists that we worked with the same guy of wrong and it was very honestly very easy. Like him stood up. And we're like this is what we want and he's delivered right on that. I feel like a lot of times in the past bans and didn't have full control or whatever and you know there's a bunch of you ideas but no one's really certain exactly where it's you go and you kind of even the designer and he's giving his ideas and back kind of not what you expected but like these are like we want this this this and then we'll just like knocking out of the park and that's exactly what we're figured out when your plane live in in your live shows. How are you going to incorporate this type of image that you have for the man I guess everyone's got wait and see we haven't played you live for brand new band pandemic issue you know it's gonna be high energy and We can't wait to get out there and show. You can't wait. Because that's i mean. I'm i'm a huge maiden fan and i've seen maiden a lot over the years and what's always interesting to me is how they're going to poach portray the album live because there's always there's always a theme and they always kinda make their stage up depending on what. That theme is So this kind of this does get excited because you know. I'm i'm used to interviewing bands that you know our our blues based in new bands and and they have their their image for their how they look and how the band name presents itself but to kind of have like this creature in this story to go along with music. Is i love it. I think it's awesome. Thank you thank you. So what is your. I'm not sure how inc end but we'll definitely gonna you know. Bring some cool shift to the last show sure lakes that went very visual and we just want someone to people to be able to show that they're gonna remember it's couple dude. Santa stage playing their instruments. What is the plan for you guys. I mean i know this. Pandemic has thrown a wrench in into the plans for a lot of bands You know releasing new music now is a challenge because you obviously want to back it up and tore on it and play for people. Once they hear the music people do have attention. Short attention spans these days. You know they forget about things. They tend to forget about things very quickly. It's frustrating for a lot of whether you're a legacy band it's been around for a while or whether you're a new band like above snakes that The that has released a new music. What what is the thought process for you guys going into two thousand and twenty one in my but going back into the studio kyle Almost two weeks so open to knock out a couple of new one and then Decide it will do You know ep are now. But as far as touring goes hopefully try and get on tour bilo ball or not you know hopefully by Next year indefinitely Trying it on as well. Yes they opened doors and stuff again. You know definitely Nerve wracking released during the pandemic right in the middle of it but also kind of feel like it was good. It was good so set the roosting in the band growing while people home and can listen and he's wanted to put the feelers out. Get these songs and bring you the next set of banks. i agree. I mean there is a lot of time to listen to music. I mean that's one of the things that's helped me get through. This pandemic is listening to new music. Revisiting some of the stuff. That maybe i have forgotten about or maybe didn't connect with originally but i think it's really hard to judge really what's going on with music these days because it everything's been paused and we really don't know what people's listening habits are. I've talked about how this is a chance for rock and roll to capture a new audience especially a younger generation. Because there's a lot of young people who are sick and tired of listening and they've got a lot of angst and anger in within themselves in. What's better to cure that angst and anger than an outlet of cold rock and roll in rock music. And i think it's a it's a positive for rock music because as you guys know it's kind of taken a back seat over the last decade or so where you know it's it's it's kind of forgotten about people talk about you know rock music being dead. It's never going to die. We know that but does need. You know a kick in the ass and it does need to connect with the younger generation. What are your thoughts on the state of rock music I think it's back to you for a while but like it's crazy. 'cause all the band that i grew up to you know are arriving. And there's definitely a lot of new bands coming up from the scene. The rock road definitely revitalizing itself. Sure we're just happy to be a part of it. You know hopefully help bring it back into. That's the biggest thing we wanted to be like. You know how was olympics in the corner and everyone. Mtv days like larger there live rockstars. You know especially with the festival before a lot of the you know. That's those are getting bigger. Neither ones that were one day. Become two days in the norm that two days now at three days each year in. They're getting bigger and bigger on yeah. I do think that people underestimate what's happening in rock music you know. I think anyone can look at album sales and say oh well you know. It's not doing that well. Compared to all these other pop artist or country artists are hip hop artists. But when you look at like you just mentioned festivals going from one day. Two days three days in more festivals right. It seems like every year there's new festivals that are added strictly for rock music especially out in in the uk and in europe too as well. It's hard to you know. State weather success is because the music industry is so different it used to rely solely on album sales. That's how you determine to ban success obviously now with streaming services in the way people absorbed music. That's no longer what people judge music honor success in music. It's taurine it's how what tours what festivals you you get. People make money now differently than they used to but. I don't think it's ever going to go away. i think it is growing. You guys mentioned all the bands that are coming on the senior whether it's a ban like above snakes or whether it's something like a ban like the structure tyler bryant rock and roll is becoming a force again and i think with the pandemic and with all these you young artists that are coming out plus when we celebrate stuff like acdc's new album or the motley crue that came out a couple of years ago. That's all a celebration of rock and hard rock and metal and we need more of that right. We need to start doing right by those artists and having young people become interested in those artists because those young people then wanna find their own bands. The one a fine above snakes so wanna find the other bands that are out there. I think that needs to happen more then. A pop artists making a heavy metal record or hard rock record. you know rock fans want authenticity. They don't want someone who feels like making a rock out. You know what i'm saying. Yep yeah.

"Over. Twenty twenty has been the most awful year ever. you know. i just can't wait for twenty twenty one and now we're finally here but before we take that bold step into the future. We've gotta take one step backwards one more time. We're dipping back in one last time before we move on to twenty twenty because despite all the bullshit that we went through this year there actually was some really really damn good albums that came out. Yeah and i posted on facebook the other day that you know like the i. I came up with around eighty albums. That were You know that. I considered you know attention worthy to look into and then i broke that down to thirty five saul you know thirty five albums that i really liked and then narrowed it down to the top fifteen and as i know you did as well. There was a ton of great stuff released last year. I don't even feel like. I've even scratched the surface. I mean 'cause if you came up with that kind of list my list was probably half of that and then whittled it down but as always this time of year we do this episode at the end of the year every year where we look back and pick out our favorite albums that came out that year. And you know it's it's kinda cool because it's an adventure for me. Because not only. Do i got the handful of ones that i know. I love the ones that i went out and bought on the day they came out you know and the ones that i was so happy with but also it's a chance for discovery too because i actually go back and i know you do the same thing go back through and say what did we miss. You know what's out there that we didn't catch this year. I don't want nothing to slip. Pass me and actually got a few debut albums from new bands that i'd never even heard of before that we're gonna talk about here today. We got all kinds of good stuff for you. Yeah there's there is the whole gamut of stuff released last year you've got you know classic bands that we all grew up on releasing new stuff. You got supergroup. You've got new bands. You've all kind of solo albums from certain artists and Man there's a ton of stuff in you know. We'll we'll go through as mitch as much as we can You know there's some great music for you so yeah there's a lot to cover so let's get it on well before we get to it. You know us. We take care of that business. We'll do it real quick because we got a lot albums to talk about fifteen piece. So let's take care of that business right now and our business is reviews. Podcast reviews yeah. We like them from apple like him from facebook. We like from pie chaser and anywhere else. You can think of that. You can leave your boys. The desk geek podcasts. A sweet sweet review. We sure do appreciate it. We appreciate it so much that every single week. We're gonna read them on the show when they're really good and we've got a couple of really really good ones here today. Let's start off with an apple. Podcast review this one's five stars and it's hot and it's fresh because it's talking about the best and worst of seventies judas priest. That was fun. Yes sure was gosal some like this loved. The judas priest episode. I have to listen to every one of those albums very soon. I also have a hard time picking anything off those albums. I don't like great episode of the best music. Podcasts out there for sure loved hearing some music clips in there to always makes my commute so much better keep up the great work guys and that comes to us from paul smith. It's an apple. Podcast review five stars. Only nice appreciate that and thanks to julian gil for being a part of that episode. He was great contributor to it. Yeah he was. I really enjoyed talking to him. Man blew my mind when he talked about flip flop in the album around. You know how side be should. Actually it makes so much sense. And that it's a concept record. I never. I'll never hear that that. I'll stained class at the same way again. I'll never listened to side a first ever four. Neither all right. That's cool man. Yeah so much fun last week. Love that early judas priest we got one more. If you got the time. I got the ability. Let's read it right here. Oh my goodness. It's a facebook recommendation. We haven't had one of these in a while. it's been a few months. Let's a good one. And it comes to us from stephen gallen very and he recommends the desk geek podcast. Because chris and aaron are knowledgeable hosts they know all deep cuts of the bands that i grew up with and love. Great show with interesting guests and topics rock and ron is the best mascot ever and he brings his own liquor to the party. A sure does great show been trying to catch up on some of the older episodes. That's an awesome dacian right there. Thank you steven for taking the time to do that for us. Thank you paul. For your awesome apple. Podcast review gays kick ass. We appreciate you very much guys. Wanna leave us a review somewhere and here read on the show. Give them all the stars. Facebook apple podcasts pod. Chaser you name. It will read it. Yeah thanks for those and keep them coming. And wow i didn't realize rock. And ron was a mascot. But he's right up there with the san diego chicken in my book. He's all alright. God oh man another way you can help us out every time we release an episode such as the one. You're about to hear today. We always make the official announcement on twitter or on facebook. If you re tweet that original tweet if you share that original facebook post and we see it on there we say. Oh there's your name your amongst the many the many awesome people that love this show they share it. They re tweet it and they become honorary geeks of the week. Luik this week. Or adam. cox ralph era. Cullen audio is always the food or do we nail it. Probably not as close as we've ever come. Yeah hey tom. smoke is back. that's awesome. I've been watching for him on the backs. Milk cartons have you. That's cool awesome. Names come up and they come and go all friends longtime friends new friends. we appreciate. Y'all thanks to everybody. That sports the decibel geek podcasts. We've each got fifteen albums man. we'd better get to it. Yeah there's a lot to go through here so i yeah. Why don't you go ahead and start us out all right so My number fifteen or a record of twenty twenty is tyler bryant and the shakedowns pressure. Know much about this banner. What i do know is that. I've heard good things about him. People that are in our desperately geek. Community have been talking about this band I went ahead and check them out earlier in the year and thought they were pretty good Do to hell of a guitar player. I really don't know a lot about them. Well they Started out in. Two thousand nine tyler. Put the band together at the age of sixteen. So he's kind of like a teenage virtuoso. Formed here nashville. i'll cool. I do not know that yup and the lineup currently consists of tyler bryant lead guitar and vocals and needed do based on the new. So there between bass players graham whitford and caleb crosby and graham whitford sounds familiar yes. He is the son of brad. Whitford era okay. Right on so a lot of talent in this band They recorded this record in tyler basement during the lockdown and he was gonna do it as He was gonna do a song and then that turned into an ep. And next thing you knew he had a whole record put together. So it's a it's an and that was kind of our wish earlier this last year when all this stuff started was i wonder how much material is gonna come out of this and we're already seeing the fruit of that Previous releases of this ban had kind of a sameness to them for me but This album had a lot more diversity on it and showed some growth in in our good buddy de hud. He's he loves this ban and he's always been pushing me to get into and The that kinda changed twenty twenty. I got more into him. So yeah but like the.

"Love that legendary. Uk rockers raven proven. They still got what it takes to put out one of the best albums. Twenty twenty metal city man. If you love that old school new wave of british heavy metal stuff damn phone. You love that old school. New wave of british heavy metal stuff. You gotta be digging on this new raven. So i highly recommend that one. It grew on me over time at Still don't like it quite as much as the last one. But it's definitely really good and and they've had a real strange know collection of records over the years they've gone and some pretty odd directions. But i think the last two racks of just kind of solidified. Their sound totally. I remember raven when i was a young kid. And that was one. Of the album's off malcolm bruce but the only reason i got it was because of the crazy looking drummer wacko with his ultimate warrior makeup on i thought well. That's kind of cool. It's kind of like. And i got it. And it's the only raven album i ever had was Was it stay hard with the dude route and his chest open with a metal underneath and love that album but never released stuck with raven over the years. And i don't know why i think i guess being from here in the united states it wasn't you know when motley crue was big guns and roses metallica. Nobody really talkable raven too much. So it's a real testament to this band that they've been around stood the test time and like said stupa no great albums and twenty twenty and of course their biggest achievement. They played the after party at first rock and pod. Expo course that's right of course number one on their resume. I'm sure yeah headlining over metallica's that all right so Another might third number thirteen pick is Another band that has never made my list and they've had several albums out over the years but this year they they made it onto the list. I'm talking about blackstone sherry. I've never i guess. This is one of those bands. I've heard songs on the radio and always thought they're pretty good. I guess but never was enough to really inspire me to check more their stuff. Yeah and and my my song pick is probably not going to be to your liking either. But i feel him when i put my list is like my first. Three i re- picks are not going to be much fragrance taste but That's okay it's why we're different But yeah the Released the human condition and october on mascot records and likely tyler bryant they kinda usually straddled kinda the middle ground for me where i dig a few songs here and there and they are good live band seen him a couple of times but they never like clicked with me but This new albums really solid from front to back very consistent. There's you know that they did a. They did some goofy kind of cutesy songs over the years. Do you remember the song. Blame it on the boom boom. No yeah it's as bad as it sounds boom boom boom boom. It's a and it's like. I think buck cherry kind of started. That trend of hard rock bands doing kind of novelty songs. You know was it saliva. I guess alive was pre-booked cherry. Wasn't it click. click boom. Yeah like that hold or was it nickelback. See these bands. All kind of sit together for me. And i don't know maybe that's why i've never really gotten into blackstone cherry but the new album has a lot has kind of a more serious tone to it and there are some great rockers on it but You know the song kinda zeroed in on is is just shows that you know radios very clueless these days the stuff i hear now like there's some real straight ahead rock and roll that i think could be you know hit worthy on radio.

"Halen sean. Cullen audio is always the food or do we nail it probably about as close as we've ever come. Yeah hey tom. Smoke is back. that's awesome. I've been watching for him on the backs. Milk cartons have you. That's cool awesome. Names come up and they come and go all friends longtime friends new friends. we appreciate. Y'all thinks to everybody. He's he loves this ban and he's always been pushing me to get into and The that kind of changed in twenty twenty. I got more into him. So yeah but like the.
