"Well, he is, but he's always more of a what creates for himself more than the chuck's much more of a facilitator. In terms of his overall offensive impact, is great on his team. Tyler bertuzzi. Hyman, you go down the list, Michael bunting. You go down the list and it's just like chuck is so clearly the absolute top Echelon model of this super valuable player type. And the ability to plug him in with barkov, I think. I mean, that sounds that lines, especially especially if barkov's stride like the power and his stride looks like it did the first half of last season more than the second half last season. That line can do some really crooked things in terms of the way they control play. Yeah, if it's skating is hampered and then you book a check on that as well, then I'd be worried. But I'm really not like I think people will be like, oh, what's his foot speed going to look like in Atlantic division that's pretty fast. And it's like, I think he'll be fine because he doesn't put himself in a position in a position where it's an issue. He also can play fast. He thinks quickly enough that it's not a big he's got fast hands. You know what I mean? Totally. Elements of his game that now here's the one thing though that I'm worried about from a panther's perspective. The Panthers have been and Bill zito has been on until this deadline. Bill zito was on this like PDO heater. Yeah. In terms of the trades that he made, every move, like king Midas stuff, right? Everything he touched turned to gold. For a few years. And then you get your and then you get close your who is kind of a cooler. I mean, look at that power play in the playoffs, right? Like drew was exactly what that team didn't need. I know he was their second best player in the playoffs. But he just wasn't what that team needed by any stretch of the imagination. Sherrod was a Charlotte was bad there. Giraffe was genuinely bad. And then when he proved the limitation of that system. He did. He finally showed that he was testing the outer limits to figure out all right, I found the line. Okay, but one of the gambles that the Panthers made that I didn't like at the time. Because most of them I love. I thought Claire was even the ones that didn't work out like Hina strozza. I was like, that makes sense. Right, you know? The one that I didn't like at the time and then it worked. Was the Sam Bennett. Yes, ma'am. And extension. And to be clear, I like the trade. Fine. Yeah. Bennett for two seconds, whatever. That's a worthwhile gamble to take.

"Guys out there, mom's out there with kids, sons and daughters that you want to take them to an NHL game. These kids are 7, 8, 9 years old. We're coming up on two years and their lives are being fucking ruined and affected so much up there. And it's happening down here, but everyone's vaccinated. Everyone's double vax. You have the boosters and there's more cases than ever. It's like, what the fuck planet are we living on? Yeah, Candace. I'm losing my mind. Busy. You felt that since you've been there? Sorry, what? Yeah, I mean, it was a bit of a process to get into Canada and see my family. I think that I think just people overall are just worn out by them. Absolutely. Well, back to being living normal. I'm just having an open conversation. I think most people with me and me and you a 100% on board with this, I know, we don't always, but I think on this we're like, yeah, man, I think people know the risk, the drawbacks, whatever, you can get vaccinated, be boosted, wear masks, you can go. But society has to fucking function. This is part of the this is the new normal. And also tools like these vaccination like show you backside. That's a dog and pony show from what I've seen in regardless of what state or what Bill that I'm going in. Like if I can show a fucking photocopy of my buddies and no one cares, then why do it? Why pretend to do it if you're not going to actually fucking enforce it, which I don't think you should because at this point man country? It's just fucking like I know a lot of folks have died, but there are precautions people can take and if they don't want to take those elements of society, they don't have to. They don't want to work in them, fine. But I think they're ready, the majority of people are ready to like, you know, if they're vaccinated and they want to wear a mask where they need to, like, let's just function again. We have to function again and especially like this last variant. I think it was, I don't know if it was Denmark, some country. It was like .06% of people who had those latest variant had to actually go to the hospital. And then there's going to be another variant. And then the fucking next level of the Greek alpha fucking omega and fucking dull. It's like it's just like the new normal man. And you can't fucking every single time, especially if they're being weaker. I think we all know the risk of going out and if you fucking don't want to take it, that's fine, but it's a fucking globe that's gonna keep spinning and fucking the world has to keep going at some point. I don't know. I agree. All right. Well, we did get a good laugh out of it anyways. Regardless of how you feel about any of this shit and then whether you think it's political or not, New Jersey's mason gets and to Tyler bertuzzi, these guys trip each other all the time. It's been written and I think it's pretty well known that, you know, Tyler bertuzzi's the only player only who has not been vaccinated. And we get no problem with that. He gets his decision. We don't judge him one way or the other. But when dancing goes, drip, and go get vaccinated. People are like, oh, that's weak. I'm like, no, that's kind of funny, 'cause he's the only guy. If there were three guys, it would be as funny, but because he's the only guy and he's calling him out for it. Yeah, we obviously like Tyler here. We had no problem with it, but that's a good trip, and we just want to give. I thought it was worse than the Bruce there it is on. I thought it was one of the worst chirps ever. Would you think of it? I thought it was vaccinated. What do you think go get a checkup, dude? 'cause you're the only guy dude who didn't. Like the 770 is the guy. I mean, I mean, I feel it's predictable. I'm sure he's heard it before. I think that's probably the best camera angle we've seen it captured on. And I think he proceeded to talk about what a minute later. He had two that game, right? He scored a minute after that comment and I think he had two in the game. So given with, I guess the only thing that you could chirp him on is the fact that he can't go to Canada and he has to forfeit his salary, but other than that, it seems like they all have to jump through the same hoops, but as I said, guys, I'm double vax, the last thing I'm gonna do is spend my time and energy shaming anyone that they're not. I just, this whole situation is kind of left me very perplexed and that may come as a shock to a lot of you. I can't even print out certain words on here. So I'm going to probably tone down my opinion on this whole thing other than the fact that RA I agree. And I want to say about a year after COVID originally came out, they said that get used to this. This is the new normal and we may be wearing masks for a long time and before the next one is they figured out a booster or how to beat it. There's another one coming out. So I kind of just tend to either focus the energy away from being all down about it and or the people who are really getting who are really getting fucked by it. Like the small business stuff, you just think about that again. You just hope it doesn't get back to where it was. And I guess that's all. They can't. They can't do it in America because they don't have the money to handle that they did before. Biz, I respect the hell you just tried to always stay positive. No, I'm gonna be honest with the first the first time through COVID and we had to keep continuing our episodes and stuff. I think it was just very difficult on everybody. And I didn't have to worry about closing the business or worry about where my next paycheck was coming from. So I guess that's just kind of where the energy goes and just wondering I don't think that they're going to go back to that place and I just hope to kind of the suffering stops from a mental health aspect and I hope that maybe more of that stuff is also used when considering on decisions that are going to end up being made. On the overall it hasn't been so far. It really, I agree with you. And we can a 100% end this. I'll say my one thing. I do not understand and could not disagree more with people who are vaccinated and despise and fucking hate unvaccinated people. You're vaccinated. You're good. You got the boosters. You're all set. Why is it the hatred towards the unvaccinated? It's so bizarre. We can end it now, but it is such a part of life with our job and everyone else's job in life right now that we have to talk about it on a hockey podcast..

"Broadcast legendary bob McKenzie. Margaret. I guess that's why I said it that way. I should have said we have two broadcast legends. But I think of you as a hockey legend. Not as a broadcast legend. So maybe all in college. Bobby is a legend. There is no question. He's going to join us. Episode 13. Talk about the upcoming world juniors. And if you follow bob McKenzie as 1.5 million people do on Twitter and social media, then you know that he's got that brand new venture. Solid margaritas, so we'll talk to him about that how that all came about because man, for anybody who doesn't know bob, he does have that personality, doesn't he? Where he can have fun. He can make fun of himself. He can embrace kind of some of the bizarre, but for years as a leading insider in the business, you wouldn't think that unless you got to know bob as you and I have had the pleasure to do. Well, when I first met him, when I came to TSN, when I first really got to know him, I thought he was always really serious. You know, because that's his persona, or was his persona, and I'm like, I was really surprised to see how much he finds the absurdity amusing when things are a little goofy, how much he, he really dives into that. So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing him over Christmas break and hopefully he's got a package a little green pins with him. Not in a way. No question. Look, we'll get to headlines in just a moment here. I know, unfortunately, there's so much of what we need to talk about is COVID related. And it feels like not feels like we can clearly see the numbers are rising through most of Canada and really worldwide. So you have to wonder how that's going to impact the world juniors perhaps, leagues, the National Hockey League, the Olympics. And on and on, it goes. I was in Florida over the weekend. Well up until Saturday went to the NHL board of governors meetings, the first face to face meeting of its kind in the last two years. And aside from all the topics there, I thought it was handled pretty well. You know, it's Florida. So, you know, yeah, everyone associated with the National Hockey League wear a mask at all times inside the hotel. But anyone staying at the hotel who had nothing to do with the National Hockey League, of course, did not have a mask. It's Florida, but we were tested. He could be tested as much as you want. I was tested three times there, PCR tests, just it was a very convenient process. They had testing facilities right at the NHL hotel. Unfortunately, from one of our colleagues, Eric engels, who has posted this publicly, so I'm comfortable talking about it. He's coming back from Florida on Sunday. And he tests positive. So now the poor guy is stuck in Florida for the better part of ten days. But because we had dinner with Eric and by we, I'm talking about myself, Pierre LeBron, Chris Johnson, Gina rhetta, Owen corbell, who you know well. You know, fame, Vancouver, cameramen. We have to go into this process now, right? So had my first PCR test on Monday we're recording Tuesday, got a negative result back. And have to go through another one later in the week. And even if I test negative there, I don't think I can go back in the TSN studios because of bell policy for 14 full days. So this setup that I'm in front of where we're going to get a lot of that in the next two weeks you're just compliments of everything we have to deal with in COVID-19. Well, I mean, the NHL, like every other sport or every other league is got players testing positive all over the place. They're fully vaccinated. My understanding is the only Tyler bertuzzi isn't. And so Caroline has kind of this place that's dragging through teams right now. They, you know, I just saw Vancouver had a player tested positive. They played the Carolina played Vancouver on Saturday. Yeah. Calgary's got a bunch of players that are in protocol. They just played Carolina. Sebastiano, who was one of the players, it's in protocol. And so if you just follow the bouncing ball, you're like, remember, how would you stop it? And what are the, what are the implications of this? And what I mean by that is with this new variant, are people getting sick more frequently, but less severely. And I saw this or listen to this great podcast by Malcolm gladwell. I'm a big fan. And so he was talking about what is the burden of proof? And it was really fascinating. It didn't have anything to do with COVID, but it was really fascinating. You could apply it to what we're doing now. It's that basically, the only way you can get definitive proof is when an event is over. Right? And then you can put all the data together. So when is COVID going to be over? 2000 and never. Right. Like we've never gotten rid of the flu. So why would we get why would we find a way to get rid of COVID definitively? The only way they're going to get a final answer is when everybody that's living right now is dead. Let's hope that's a long, long time away. So yeah, you know, I know people get frustrated and we're all frustrated and we're all like, damn it, I'm just tired of this. Yet we have to learn as we go and hope the most learned people are able to establish policies to have us live a somewhat normal life because eventually we can all go back into our houses and stay there for 6 months again. I hope not. No, I mean, I don't have an answer. And whatever we got to do, we'll do. But, man, it doesn't, it seems like we're teetering towards we're gonna have to shut everything down again. And I'm like, I don't even know if that's the best way anymore. I really don't. I just don't. I hear you. Headlines presented by our friends at Boston pizza just in time for the holidays from now until the end of the year. You get a free $10 promo card when you buy a $50 Boston pizza gift card. And we'll segue on the COVID theme over to the Olympics because you're right. I mean, going into the holiday season, who knows how much worse it's going to get at the NHL level, the CHO level all levels. So no point guessing at this stage. But there's a lot of dialog happening within the Players Association. Chris Johnson reported on the weekend that a part of the restrictions that go into the Olympics is the potential of the quarantine that could last up to 5 weeks. If you're a player or any member of the team, three to 5. Now there's caveats that are attached to that. It doesn't have to extend to the full three weeks. I mean, if you're asymptomatic and you go through ten days and you have two negative tests, I believe it's too negative test, then the medical officers can intervene and say, okay, that's enough. Is that guaranteed no. It's not yet. So the messaging that I'm getting from star players, I mean, Robin lehner, we know ray is already spoke out, and I'm not going. I'm just not doing it. The message I'm getting from potential Olympians is, well, if the parameters don't change, and there's a chance that I'm stuck in quarantine and lockdown in China for three to 5 weeks. I'm not going to do that. But I'm not going to make that decision until the league, the NHL and the Players Association come to me and say, okay, here is the gray area that you have to be willing to accept. And that might be in January, right? Until the league and the PA has that information. They've got a digital playbook now. I don't believe they've.

"Jack Edwards early in the season. It is the perfect chef kiss on this opening week, guys, and we have been treated. And we still got some of these most disliked announcer in the NHL. Now that people get more votes than Conor for MVP this year. But we love them. I like Jack. I think he's an entertainer. I mean, that was ridiculous to call it to suspend the ball. But yeah, when he when bruins games are put on, I don't know if it's a national thing or other states and countries can see Jack when he's on people are fucking all over him, and they can't say so he's a home, but they're all homers. I heard this, and I don't even care that I spread the rumor. The bruins put them across the hotel from the other guys because he just rips the bong, all night long in this hotel room. He's a weird thing. We should do it. We should do a road trip with Jack. Jack Edwards, see how he prepares for games. We should get Rene court to follow us around with him. Get the whole charges for anthems. Ready. All right, moving right along. I wanted to mention one more thing about the bruins, is you follow Halsey on Instagram. He looks like the happiest person alive being in Boston. Every Instagram. I am so happy that he's found a place that we just you could tell, he just like, he's like, I found my home. I found my home, he's fucking hanging out with the MLB trophy hanging out with the boys. And you know, if you need a little pick me up ever, if you're feeling down, just hit up Halsey's Instagram stories or pictures. The happiest man. You loving it. He's on an original 16 teams good. And he had great fans with the team struggled. Devil's, you know, they get to the playoffs, but, you know, kind of a struggle there, not the best building to play in no offense devil's fans. And then Arizona Jesus Christ. What else you got to say? All of a sudden, Boston. Happy for him. I think he's gonna have a big year. I really do. I'm sure he wishes you still there, but we'll see how this goes with this team. Let's see what happens. The New York island is, they signed defenseman Ryan Pollock to an 8 year extension worth 49.2 million comes out to 6.15 per year. He's got a no trade clause for the first 5, a modified no trade for the last three. Tough stuff for the aisle so far, Owen two in the first two. It's only two games, but they've been outscored 11 to four in those two games. I'm sure they'll clean it up, but as a fellow defenseman, what would you take on this poll extension? Well, it's great. An islanders fans, Frankie barelli, Jesus. They have stopped beating the drum of how proud they are to have these two guys under what I think is 11 million a year, maybe under 12 million year to have their top pair. It's a great deal. I mean, lose proven. He's a master. He gets all these guys he has his own free agency day. Nothing's announced till later. He runs the show and they have their one and two defensive basically with the chance of Dobbs and really growing into a stud. He's playing with Chara right now. Young kid first rounder, but they got these two guys locked in at a fair number. You know, I don't think either one of them are like amazing at anything. They're both just really good at everything. You know what I'm saying? Neither one of these guys is a true power play quarterback pool because of absolute canon. But in terms of like running the top of the umbrella, you know, Adam Fox, dodi. Guys that really can make a living just quarterbacking 5 on four units. I don't necessarily think either one of those guys would be great at that. But they both still can add offense. I mentioned Bullock shot. It's just a huge deal to get too, not. How would I describe two such important players locked in at a fair number? It's pretty much how the bruins have been successful so long is seeing guys never get too high of a deal. And they got two guys now locked in at what's great for the team. Does it concern you a little bit though that none of them are number one and I know the islanders got to get it done a different way by committee, but you look at the last 20 Cup winners. How many teams have not had that one guy? I said that. And I got a shot of teddy Purcell 'cause we were talking. I said, just think back, right? Think to all these Cup winners and look at headman on Tampa and Duncan Keith wasn't even see broke on Chicago, doughty on LA Chara on Boston. You know, it's like it really never ends and then he said Carolina. I think it was that O 6. Kind of a good example of a team who never really had or didn't have a true number one defenseman that did win the cop. So I do think the honors are a team who could win the Stanley Cup the way they are right now. And that would be just another example of not having that real number one guy. But hard to get over that hump of time has told us, right? I think another one would be a good example is Pittsburgh when they won that first of the back to back because they lost the Tang for most heavy water. But other than that, it's just you look back, you get the dowdy. You got the Duncan Keith, you know, there's a beast on Washington, a clear number one. And I mean, after that, Peter Angelo, he was a one. There's another one. So it's just hard to go back and really see where you got to get it done by committee. But hey, this is a very solid team. I wouldn't hit the panic button yet. But hey, I'll tell you what, they lose against who they got in game three. They got a tough game against the hawks who haven't really proven us much yet either. If they start the O and three, man, they get another ten on the road, notoriously they have not been good starters under trots, and that's something that Frankie barelli also made me aware of. So we'll see, but not the start to the year they expected. Outscored one RA, they're getting dumbed in. 11 to four. Losers. Yeah. Scrubs. I'll also have started both games while I'm off as still banged up. He's not in the lineup yet. So he's actually on long-term and injuries reserve Cory Schneider's actually the backup right now. So sir oaken better clean it up while we might be seeing Schneider out there because, you know, you don't want to get too far behind the 8 ball, this early in the season. We've talked about that plenty on this show. Let's see. Moving right along, actually, yeah, we did mention, I know we alluded to it earlier. The Tampa Bay Detroit game, which was absolutely incredible. Tampa Bay was losing 6 to three with less than 7 minutes left. They rallied tied it up Andre pella ones at an overtime tried by tusi Tyler bertuzzi Todd's his uncle Mars father like the infinite things. Tyler bertuzzi four goals, but Dylan lacking ended up getting suspended for a game for a retaliatory punch, the Matthew Joseph. Joseph hit him in the corner. And it looked like I couldn't tell lack and turn to the last second or be intentionally try to hurt him or whatever..

"Welcome back when 100 calls hand studios, Wings and Panthers second game of the back the back as we continue to get you ready, we go inside the locker room with Red Wings head coach Jeff Flash hold is brought to you by Meyer. I had a chance to ask Jeff about last night's three to overtime loss to the Panthers. Well, especially team struggled. You know, they scored two power play goals as well. So I don't want to, You know, let the PK off the hook here. We both need to be better. Um, you know, ultimate. I thought we played pretty good five on five. Archy way would add a little bit better the chances they certainly had some a swell but good enough to win the hockey game five on five, and you know, we've got to do a better job, especially teams, so it's kind of hockey. We need a play to be successful. I think we need to be in a lot of those types of games, but we have to find ways to come up with two points. You left both Larkin and Manta off the first two power plays yesterday, Dylan said after the game. It was a good lesson for him to just kind of watch the man advantage and see what was and what not going on, I guess. And then you put him back in, I guess. What was that? A message you were sending to those guys. And what was the mind set there? No, it wasn't really a message. As much as you know those those those two individuals amongst a bunch of guys haven't got the job done and and ultimately, you know, regardless of what people's names are, we need people in there and get the job done and executing if you don't give other guys Opportunity. You don't know for sure what they can do. And so we give some other guy's an opportunity. And those two guys came out came off it. And ultimately, the guys that that got that opportunity. I didn't think we're doing the job done. We put him back on. And you know, I'm not stuck on anybody. I don't think anybody is deserving. Or old or entitled Inoperable power play opportunity right now, you know the power of plays earned and right now, and nobody is really earning. It s so we got we're gonna will keep trying until we find a mixed that that turns and it's not just, you know, just those two guys. It's multiple guys. And so we'll see. I just think at the end of the day Don't think there's anybody under par players not touchable. What about a guy like terror Harow? See, he's getting his chance right now. Because there's so many guys out with Cove it It gets a second assist yesterday. Have you been impressed with him? Used him on the power play a couple times as well. Yeah, I know you don't touch Charles done a good job. He's a really, really talented playmaking player. He's probably the most natural kind of half wall savvy, passing type player that we have. On the power play. You know, she's got a pretty good job there. I think he came into the year of the good attitude he came in. He wasn't playing scared toe, you know, afraid to not make the team. He just came in and played his game and understood that you know whether he made it a den. He was just gonna keep playing his game and always getting opportunities. Playing pretty good hockey is obviously not Super big. He's not super fast, so he's got to use his brains and his skill set. I think you've done a good job of that. Jeff, this marks the 10th game of the season. Can you speak to the sense of urgency that you and your team are starting to feel? I mean, after today, it's kind of crazy, but there's only 46 games left in the season. Why didn't Greenaway from the onset? There's a sense of urgency and I don't know that it's increasing. I just think you know, I think we understand how short this season is, and we understand available every game is, you know we got our season like a lot of people's lives totally changed last year and ultimately the end of it taken away last year, And so we know that things can change on a dime. They can change in a day, and we're not taking anything for granted. So we're Showing up every day trying to do the best weekend. You know, I think our guys have done a good job of trying to keep continue to get better. We gotta find ways to get results in these closer games. If we had done that, a little bit more record looks a little bit better. So we gotta make sure we play the right way. Put ourselves in position, win and then find ways to win the close games. Jeff Tyler Bertuzzi left yesterday with an upper body injury after getting the goal. Is he back today? And also what about Jonathan Bernier? Do we see him and net to see back today or no for Twosies? Doubtful on Bernie is out, So just missed a few guys there and so will see our lineup is gonna be kind of unknown until game time. Just last 14 years. Speaking a game time game, too. When two days against the Panthers Give me one key to the game, or what do you have to do to beat these guys? We got to get the park in the offensive zone. We're gonna manage apart out of our zone through the neutral zone. Get it in. There's only thought when we pressured their defense and played in his own way, did a good job and created chances, so we gotta make sure I get the parking their zone. Jeff bless you. We appreciate it is always good. Look tonight against the Panthers. Thanks a lot of reasons..

Left point. Put it over top of the right circle, Dominant Kubelik with a drive safely. Don't scar. It's Dylan Strome as that rebound Karen off of Rene, straight up the slot. Strong was in perfect position to slap home the goal. It's a power play goal on the one Nothing harshly at the 2 15 dine Markstrom, second of the year. Both of them came on the power play. The other instance, came in that opener in which they lost 51. The Tampa Bay nearly two weeks ago two weeks ago tomorrow as a matter of fact, Andrew Shaw got the primary assist on a little backhand flip barely got his stick on the puck off the rebound of the blast from Dominic Kubelik, who is credited with the secondary assist. And that is all the scoring in the opening period. But once again the Blackhawks, now nine for 20 on the power play so far this season, and they have now set a new plateau for second best in franchise history to open the season. Seven consecutive games in which they have connected on the man advantage. The all time record is 11 straight out of the gate that back in the 90 91 season, and now the Predators on the penalty kill now four for their last 13. The good news for them is that they didn't take another penalty. Also good news for the Blackhawks. They wanted to stay away from the penalty box is well after five apiece, both in the Friday and Sunday wins over the Detroit Red Wings. They were perfect on Friday night, but gave up the only pair that they allowed overall on Sunday on the power play when Tyler Bertuzzi was able to convert on both of those black Hawks have been staying out of the box. So far, luckily to do so after that, Mad scrambled in the first period in which they were hemmed in for about a minute and a half, if not longer, as we mentioned earlier with Troy, the shots on goal 17 8 in favor of the Preds in that opening 20 minutes. Preds have also won 16 of the 29 draws or just a 45% win. Wait for the Blackhawks, who have also been credited with four hits and five blocked shots so far on this game. This one on an interference call. So a 61 2nd five on three for Detroit, they were able to cash in relatively early one. Tyler Bertuzzi scored his second of the season from Ah Larkin and ironic the Hawks were able to kill off the remainder of camps penalty, but their lead was down to 2 to 1. Smith's got it toe Larkin cutting in front of chutes, unlike in and got down and make the right pad save Well, what a save by Kevin Lincoln and he got down in the butterfly position. And Larkin was going to try and score the same kind of a goal. He did the other night where he got Lincoln and down and out, but Lincoln and beat him with the right path. Saving the game. Yeah, and then holding up that way, the save of the game for Kevin Lincoln and keeping it a 21 contest. But then late in the period, the Blackhawks got there. "W, TPN, we will have you covered with Some of the main portions of the inauguration in some of the pageantry that will begin at 11 30 will carry. Some of that, especially some of Biden's speech will be interesting to see what he has to say. Most of it will probably rely and lay down on unity. I think that would be probably smart at this point. That's what the insiders are saying at this point. Also before he takes the office, President elect Biden and his wife will attend church that'll get started, Of course, the whole ceremony and 11 15 along with that a lot of the inaugural balls that we've been hearing about in the past, you'd be invited to all that. Not me, not campy, maybe you but that will be held virtually this year, but one of the big things that we're hearing about it. But President Trump, by the way, if he's not already is already on his way to joint base, Andrews hey becomes the fourth president U. S history. The first since Andrew Johnson in 18 69 9 to attend his successor. Swearing in vice president. With that Biden is expected on day one, and we're going to dive into this more after eight o'clock with Terry Casey are Republican strategist who has been in the trenches with politics and all of this, but Biden is expected to sign 17 executive actions. And orders to reverse trump policies. We knew some of this was already coming. It's expected that he'll restore some of the Obama era programs on the very first time. Some of those that include Hill declared immediate termination of the funding for the border wall Construction. We heard about this putting an end to, of course, a key trump campaign in administration. Promise to build a wall along the US Mexico border s some of the other things, including set to preserve and fortify the Obama era deferred action for childhood arrivals. The DACA program. And if you're not familiar with that that allows people who came to us as Children to request there differed immigration enforcement and work authorization. I find it interesting, though. The almost 9000 caravan from Guatemala that is coming this way on you have President Biden? Who? Our president elect Biden, who has already said Well, wait, wait. Wait a minute. No, no, no, no, You're You can't come right now you're gonna tell good after whole slow your roll down caravan. Slow your roll. I find that interesting, but that's you know what? At the same time? That's a classic example of you. You need to be careful about what you say. Because some of those in this caravan that air coming up from Guatemala were interviewed by CNN. And they were saying, and they took every word Biden had been saying in his campaign speeches about immigration seriously. It's just another example about how words matter at times and the Pentagon confirming 12 National Guard members have been removed from the inauguration mission after the FBI finding evidence of inappropriate comments. The Army general ahead of this set. Extremism is not tolerated and any branch of the military and how about that Ohio soldier? Who was he? We're getting right into it this morning when it comes to the inauguration. We want only the best in the business. And, of course, NBC News Radio National correspondent Michael Bauer joining us right now Post Trump Trump will be leaving Washington D. C this morning, Michael It'll be an early one. According to the schedule from the White House, he and the first lady you're planning on leaving at eight o'clock this morning from the White House again. That follows later on, because we know that it's just a couple of hours later, the Joe Biden will be sworn in hours after that, you'll be moving into the White House. At 8 45. I believe this morning is the timeframe that Joe Biden is going to a church service in Washington, D C before he's sworn in, and a number of bipartisan leaders in Congress are going to be there with him. Now logistically to try toe leave from Washington D C. Get out to joint joint base Andrews and then go back in to try to get there for the inauguration is a nightmare, so seeing people have to make decisions, including the vice president, Mike Pence. Making logistical decisions and saying, Look, I'm just going to stay in Washington D. C. So I'm gonna be there for the Biden swearing and I'm not going out to Trump's military departure ceremony that they're planning on having which will, according to reports have things like military band Red carpet walk, flanked by troops, possibly a flyover by Air Force fighter jets on then President Trump will get on Air Force one to head down to Florida West Palm Beach, which We understand he'll be landing around 11 A.m. wheels down there in West Palm Beach, and that's when Air Force one will technically changeover. So so we really don't know if there's going to be some pageantry with the farewell with President Trump at joint base, Andrews. We know there's plans. We know that there's no there there goals that they're shooting for. But we also don't know who's going to be there because a number of invitations were sent into a number of people in Washington, D. C to be there for the send off that they're saying they're not going to go because Mainly logistically, they're not going to be able to get there. Others seem pretty turned off by what happened with President Trump in the storming of the capital two weeks ago on they don't necessarily want to be there, so it could be that you're going to have This sort of pomp and circumstance. Stead up for President Trump does apart and not necessarily, ah, lot of people there to be able to watch that departure unless they decide to open it to the public. Which is something that they may think about doing. I don't know yet. Alright. NBC news radio National correspondent Michael Bauer. Thanks so much. Have a great day. You gotta stay safe. I want to Segway those Shawn because we were talking about this and this is really important. I'm gonna dive right in the Detroit Red Wings on what? Steve Eyes German and Chris Draper, Pat Verbeek and what the organization. I don't think that with everything going on in the world than I can understand that if people haven't really been able to pay attention because of the Free agent period after the draft. You know the times really? Go down, and it's a little bit weird, obviously, because the season's not started all January and, you know, limited stuff like that. But I want people to take a second here and then because we're going to break it down, Sean Bally gin and nine and just really what Steve Eisenman's doing because you you, my friend, see exactly What's playing out on what he's putting together, and I want you to elaborate on that for the listeners a little bit if you want. He's brilliant. You know, Honestly, Mac, he really is and I have no reason to Teo kisses behind. I hope that people can appreciate what he's doing. I mean, he is. He's playing chess right now. He's he's two moves ahead. He's not thinking Mac and you stop me if you think I'm wrong. I don't think he's thinking about this season. I don't think he's thinking about the 21 season. He's thinking about 21 22. He's thinking about 22 23. And I was somebody that along the way I love to ask questions. You know whether it be when Mike Veloute e was the general manager of the H L team, even when he moved on to Carolina. I like to know what those guys were thinking so You know when the time comes to try to figure out where a guy maybe going or what he may be doing, you can kind of fall back on experience from listening to guys or or watching guys that that do the job so effectively and A Mac. Not only is he bringing in guys right now that are going to help this team, okay, They're going to help the team. They're not going to be the awful team that they were last year. But they're not going to be great either. But he's bringing in character guys He's bringing in guys that you know, might be here to teach others and they might be here longer or they might not be here longer. But he's got a group of US phase where he can kind of pick and choose. All right. I want this guy to be part of the bridge from just getting back to respectability to really be competing, and this guy might not be there. But when you take a look at all the phase, basically what he's saying is, Yeah, we flipped the roster. But there's a real good chance we're going to flip the roster again and being a position Tio go out and take that screwdriver and tighten up the screws in this position of that position or with this player that player It's fascinating watching this stuff. It really is. He's He's a master. I mean, he really is a sharp, sharp guy. Well, I think I think what the big thing is is and you've mentioned it. It's not for this season, but it's looking ahead. But really what you realizing especially in today's NHL is you have to build in stages you have on and you look at right now. As I look at the roster, and you look at what they what You signed, right? You look a Tyler Bertuzzi nods when we can. I think when we came to air last last week, you know it was they were a million dollars off on, you Know, sort of arbitrate. What? What did they do You know which I It's the kids. Batten on himself to God. You know they met in the middle game, a one year contract, which is sort of Telling me that Stevie said. Okay, you know you're in it now prove it more. But the big thing is you locked in Anthony Manta for four years, right? Because Anthony Manta to me and and I encourage people out there as you do, comparables, Right. Do comparables, two championships and and here with it's easy to do what the rendering roster because we want, you know, for part of four Stanley Cups here, so Who's your plug and play and Anthony Manta? Is your Anthony Manta Is your Brendan Shanahan guy Right now? The thing is, is that if he can, you know, stay healthy. Obviously, that's a big thing. We see the skills to me. Sky's the limit with Anthony Man that he is that new Age power forward in the NHL. You look at the move that he's made to get Vladislav domestic off. Who write, which is one of these things being Slava Kozlov's nephew. I remember you know the kid being around the room when he was younger and stuff like this, but again, what I'm saying is there's culture. In there, you know, you look at a guy. So then you look at the guys. You know, the Robby Fabbri is the Bobby Ryan's who, you know, which is a great story because he, you know, top pick a guy who can score goals and things like that. I think the one thing is what The levelling is these guys might not be the ones that are here for the championships, Not the mantas of the Bertuzzi is, but maybe the Ryans or the fabric's but their pieces That are valuable that are playing for something more. You know whether it's this organization or you're building to get more assets, so maybe at the trade deadline if this team isn't You know as competitive. This gives them more of an option to build more draft picks. And, yeah, I think that that's the one thing as we see it, formulating the plan and the one thing that I always tell people Is just Listen. Steve Iseman Z apart If you listen to what he says he will navigate. You threw his thought process, But you have to listen. You can't you know you have to listen to what he says. And Like you said, is to watch him put this in place now, and here's the Here's a great caviar for everybody out there, Right. You have eight years of Tampa Bay lightning from 2012 to 2020 that you can go back and see their line up, just pull up their lineups and see how it's evolved and who's there and who's not and how they got to the championship. And it gives you sort of a blueprint or, you know a rough idea of what he's going to do here. No Mac to me. I nail on.
