"This is how, this is how Kellen Clemens ends up playing for 17 years in the NFL. This is the Lawyer's Guns and Money Podcast. All right, well, shall we move on to the NFC now? Absolutely. All right, well, let us talk the NFC East, which is an interesting division in the sense that you have a Cowboys team, which is every year is the year they're about to go back to the Super Bowl, and then it never happens ever, ever, ever. An Eagles team that certainly should be very good. A Giants team that is interesting, I think, and a Washington team I don't believe in at all. But at least Daniel Snyder is not in control anymore. There's probably two wins right there. So projections, and again, for somebody like models always love the Cowboys. Once again, Cowboys 11 wins, Eagles 10, the Giants 6 .4, so models not high on the Giants. I think I understand why, although they certainly could beat that. And actually, the commanders actually have a higher win projection. I scrolled too far. They're actually 7 .6. So the model actually likes the commanders a little bit more than the Giants, which is not absolutely unreasonable, although I don't think that's how most people would pick it. So first of all, this is another case where at the top of the division, I think the model is pretty clearly wrong, and not because I think the Cowboys are, but again, the models do not know who's coaching the team. That's one thing, and is now taking over the play calling. So McCarthy's amazing because it's like three and a half quarters of literally just calling plays from the first screen of Madden. And then when the game's on the line, having your running back direct snap to your punter or some shit, it's not good. And look, the Cowboys are a very talented team. Micah Parsons, probably the best defensive player in football. They've got a great secondary. I think getting rid of Elliott, who they basically had to force feed to justify paying him is actually a plus. Dagg, it's a little hard to say, but there's certainly a substantial fluctuation in performance there, but he's generally good. It's generally a good regular season team. I still like them as much as the Eagles. I mean, I think I heard somewhere that Jalen Hurts was paying like nine to one for MVP. I like that a lot, especially if Mahomes misses a couple of games. I mean, he was legitimately outstanding. And, you know, I guess there's, you know, people may want to see it for another year. I can understand that, but he looks good. Obviously, they have an excellent offensive line, excellent skill talent. Yeah. I mean, the defense will probably regress. And it was a bit of a, you know, the one thing about the Eagles is that it was the defense is a bit of a front runner. You know, like it was very good against bad teams, but it got shredded pretty badly when it had to go up against really elite teams with the exception of, you know, the Niners who were, you know, I think, I think, I think Kyle Shannon actually took 10 steps in that game. But, you know, when they actually had to play a good quarterback, like it's a good defense, don't get me wrong. You know, I don't think they're going to, you know, set any sack records again. But to me, they're clearly the class of the division. They're a better coach than the Cowboys. You know, and I think they're a little more consistent throughout the roster. You know, but obviously those are two really good teams. You know, I think that my guess is that what the model says about the Giants is that they're incredibly lucky to have that record last year so that, you know, they can actually improve a little bit, but given like more normal luck and a tougher schedule can actually win fewer games.

"Florida Panthers for Matthew chuck scored with 12.7 seconds left in the fourth overtime to get the Florida Panthers a three two win over the Carolina hurricanes in game one of the Eastern Conference final. The game was the 6th longest in NHL history. Chuck was elated to a score of the game winner. My favorite one so far in my life. Ryan lomberg of Florida appeared to have won the game in the first overtime, but his goal was overturned due to goalie interference. Panthers goalie Sergei bobrovsky made 63 saves while Frederick Anderson made 57 saves for Carolina, including 39 in the overtime periods, Dennis Cox, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Heat rally again to win in OT, eliminate top-seeded Bucks

Today we've talked nba finals action. game to just concluding hours ago And basically everything that we've seen so far in the finals everything that i expect to see so far in the finals and has my prediction changed at all since the prediction. I gave you before game one. It hasn't but hey that's okay. And then in the second segment. We talked the maria taylor. Rachel nichols espn fiasco. That has blown up in terms of the sports world over the past couple of days. Broke everything down there. The fact that in that situation there really aren't any victims there really aren't any villains except for potentially espn itself. I think they're in the you know position to be blamed in a more justifiable way. Certainly more than either. Maria taylor or rachel nichols at all so talked all of that in the second segment and now i wanna turn. Everyone's attention to the sport. That i really don't spend all that much time talking about which would be soccer. The euros are currently going on euro. Twenty twenty one. I know a few of my co host here at the gmc sports. Podcast have talked a little bit about euro action. I haven't actually talked at all. Because i'm not a huge soccer guy in and of itself but the situation that happened on wednesday but in the semi-final between england and denmark so on tuesday we had italy advanced to the euro final with a penalty kick win over spain in the first semi-final and then on wednesday. We had england advance over denmark in exciting fashion extra time england gets a penalty kick goal on. Let's just call it in extremely controversial call. And i'll leave it at that so where the started is denmark scored early to take a one. Nothing lead later on. England manages to tie it up with a denmark. Own-goal kind of heartbreaking. If you're a danish fan the fact that you're up one. Nothing you're goalkeepers been playing great and all the sudden an own goal is what ties us up and prevent you from moving on to the finals in and of itself instead one. Nothing turns to one won. The match remains one one all the way through the end of regulation and extra time and then as we head into the added extra time a penalty that gets called down in the box on denmark. And let's just say well. Okay you know what forget being nice about it. It's just a terrible call. There's no other way around it. It's simply a garbage call in that situation. Not even in that situation. It's just a terrible call. Regardless of what point you are in the match the fact that it happened in you know the added extra time simply makes it worse but upon watching the replay. What you see is that Raheem sterling is the guy from england. Who ended up drawing the penalty. He's down close to the line in the box. And i mean maybe he was touched going back and watching the replay. I'm not even convinced that he was touched An iffy was it was certainly extremely minimal. Contact let's leave it at that. That the i from denmark stuck his leg out stuck his right leg out trying to basically knocked the ball away. You didn't get the ball but you didn't get his leg either. There may have been like minimal contact. And like i said i would leave it as extreme minimal contact. That occurred if any and of course. No offense here but it's hard to believe that the fact that this match was taking place at wembley stadium in england in front of a majority english crowd didn't play a part in this. I mean if this matches taking place in denmark. Does this call get made absolutely not and if you try to argue with that. I just think you're being foolish. I think the fact that this match was taking place at wembley in london played a massive port in this The danish coach casper. Holman up leaves how you pronounce his name. If i bought that. I sincerely apologize was asked about it after the match and his quote was quote. Were just very disappointed that we were so close to the final. We're disappointed. It was decided that way. It was a penalty that shouldn't have been a penalty in that annoys me right now. We're disappointed. Were very disappointed. It's one thing to lose a game that happens but losing this way as just a disappointment because those guys have fought a lot. It's bitter. I think we have to digest this before we can described these feelings. But it's a bitter way to leave at tournament in quote. I think he's right. I think everything he said there is one hundred percent accurate. I think he's absolutely correct in his takeaway as to what happened at the end of that match. It was absolutely a penalty. That should not have been a penalty. I if that's a penalty than anything in soccer is now a penalty and can be called to me. It goes back to the holding situation in football. The fact that anyone who knows football at all points out time and time again that holding can be called on any given play on an offensive lineman because within the letter of the law holding absolutely occurs on every single play. That could probably be called if we're just going to get extremely technical so it simply a matter of when it gets pulled out when it gets called and a terrible call there on wednesday out in london with the call that went rahim sterling's way Now there are two other things. I want to address here about this. After the match sterling was asked about the call this guy who drew the call quote. I went into the box. He stuck his right leg out and he touched my leg so it was a penalty in quote..

Her playing the victim card here is just somewhat infuriating. Because like i said nothing. Derogatory was actually said about her. Espn is the villain here with the idea that they let this all fester and continue to grow like an open wound. This is all on espn. And like i said from a business standpoint. I think maria taylor and her camp played this perfectly. Because i think it's going to work which we can talk about that all day as to whether that's okay or not but the fact is it's all a business. Sports media is a business and some people are simply smarter than others and what we have right now for maria taylor and her camp is well them simply being smarter so weird story going on between those two in the network like i said no real victims at all in this story no real villains at all in this story except for espn for simply being incompetent. You've taken me off this year's finals because of the fact that maria taylor and her camp leaked this trying to make her seem like victim. I'm sorry but that's kind of the only way you can look at this. This is maria taylor trying to pay to play leverage in this entire situation. It's a business move. And while i don't like it if it works. I don't think we can blame. Maria taylor all of this. The sports industry as a whole the sports media industry as a whole. It's all a business and sometimes you have to make moves. That seem une cool. Seem uncouth and i think that's what this is. But i think from maria taylor and her you know her camps standpoint. This is actually a brilliant move So that's the breakdown there. And his answer was it is disheartening with the entire situation. That's going on. And i actually give him credit because i think what he said is true in the sense that he came out more blasting. Espn more than taking sides. With maria taylor. Or rachel nichols ear and his point was that. Espn should have dealt with this a long time ago. They should have sat both of these individuals down like grown adults and said. Hey we can't have this and you should have settled it then. The idea that they didn't is a really bad. Look on the network sport. So from adam silver standpoint. I think virtually everything he said about. This is true That espn dish nip in a thing to should have been dealt with. This should have been taken care of. Espn decided to let this basically sit there and fester over a year and now it came out when it's a great opportune time for someone to release it. This is on espn. More than either. Rachel nichols or maria taylor. If espn had done the right thing all of this would not be a story. This would not be going on right now and everything would be okay. Now the one thing. I will say about this entire situation that i don't like is the fact that rachel nichols has apparently reached out to maria taylor and tried to have dialogue and communicate and basically apologize and such for everything that was said and maria. Taylor is deciding that she wants no part of a dialogue. She wants no part of communication. Guess what grow up being adult. That's all. I have to say about that in those reports like. I said it was a dumb comment. From rachel nichols she worded it in a bad way. However the attack was not against maria taylor. The attack was against the network and the idea that maria taylor is now trying to act like she so offended by this. I'm sorry at some point. You have to stop being offended when someone blessed the network if she had come out and called. Maria taylor names said anything truly derogatory toward taylor at all. I think that would be one thing. But that's not what happened. rachel nichols was blasting. Espn for being run. By well a bunch of imbeciles which is true. Rachel nichols was saying and trying to defend her position. The way anyone would. i mean. Think about if you've been working at a job. For years. In a certain industry rachel nichols has been working at. Espn as the main basketball person. The main basketball female at espn for years. And then all the sudden even with something that is written into your contract to network and your employer comes in and says hey by the way. We're just replacing you without giving a real reason you're going to be annoyed to. You're going to be frustrated. You're gonna be upset. So i understand people saying that what rachel nichols said. Was you know not exactly an intelligent thing to say. And i think that's true however people trying to blast rachel nichols four defending her contract and basically arguing in defensive herself. I can't get behind that because anyone would do the same thing. If your job is being threatened by someone else. I think you have to give rachel nichols credit for not actually coming after maria taylor for instead just pointing out simple facts about the network which.

"Agenda to his nominees. The only thing that really changed on Tuesday with the two wins in Georgia were the nominations and confirmations. You can clearly go through a democratic majority and work through those pretty quickly, but he's gonna need a substantial bipartisan effort to get any sort of legislation across the finish line. Because of that 60 vote threshold. They do not have the votes to try to eliminate the filibuster, so there's going to need to be some Bipartisanship with one caveat to that is the budget If they can pass a budget. They can then operate in this sort of arcane reconciliation rules that ultimately allow them to change tax policy with a simple majority. That's a big thing to watch in the first quarter, and I think something that this administration will focus on. Worry. What's your sense of Biden's legislative calendar schedule? What do you get the sense he's going to push first? What do you think he'll put it off until later in the year and given The fact that you know it's now just a few votes in the House and one vote in the Senate. Do you think there's some parts of the agenda that he campaigned on that are just going to go on the back burner? Well, Chris, I think number one has to be getting his team in place, and that involves dealing with everything from Cove ID to the economy and jobs to national security. And so I do think that there's a strong sense that confirmations have to happen immediately and then paired with that is the question of additional covert relief for Americans. He has talked about the $2000 checks, getting more relief to small businesses getting unemployment relief to people. I think that will be a first priority as well. Obviously the vaccination Program isn't really legislative. I think they'll probably be more focused on that through executive action and the executive branch, But I actually think that this is an opportunity for senators like Joe Manchin, Chris Coons, Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, the folks clustered around the middle of both parties to come together to help bite and get things passed like infrastructure, for example, things past like tweaks to our health care system. You know, Joe Biden did not campaign on huge radical change. Campaigned on working across the aisle to address things like prescription drugs. And so I think that once we get through this initial period of time, where he gets his team in place and works to really attack the coronavirus issue Those are the kinds of things he's going to look at. Wednesday afternoon, when the insurrectionists were still inside the Capitol President Trump put out this video This was a fraudulent election. But we can't play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. Jonathan from what your sources are telling you, it does. Donald Trump think that after January 20th, he still has a role to play in national politics and that he still has a base. It will follow and support him. He does have a base that will follow in supporting. It would be the height of naivety to think that he doesn't and in fact, I think people Drastically overstating the extent to which Donald Trump is a diminished figure after this, Yes, he said. Of course, he said. There's no doubt he's lost some and John and Josh probably has a better read on this than I do have some number of Republicans. He certainly lost quite a few elected Republicans, but I don't. I haven't seen any evidence yet that he's lost a huge proportion of the Republican base who you have to remember was and we know this both from Data like hard quantitative data, but also from focus groups and from anecdote and from activists in the field that he had an incredible bond with the Republican base and a very intense bond that I've seen firsthand at many trump rallies and very some things. I'm not convinced that goes away at all. So I think people should be very Wary off dismissing Trump as somebody who has a serious power, his own type of power outside of Washington, going far beyond January, 20th Josh, let's change and pivot more to the official part of the elected officials. The party infrastructure. How much support has Donald Trump lost over this last week? In the side that part of the GOP does he still have support? Does he still have cloud or to what degree has that diminished? Well, I mean, Chris, There's been seismic change this week. And I think it's a combination of factors, obviously ending with what happened on Wednesday, But there was a fatigue everything post election of the president focusing entirely on this You know, fraudulent election message that you know it wasn't true, and most everybody knew it. But instead of sort of getting behind what was ultimately going to be the future of the party into Georgia Senate races, the president continue to focus on how he would would be president. Ultimately, that began to chip away and as the rhetoric began to be more and more pointed More more away from the future of the party. I think there has been a significant slide where that ends with with Wednesday as you saw a number of Republican senators speaking very directly to this for the first time on the Senate floor, you had senators like Tom Cotton Mike lead Tim Scott, representing sort of the next page of conservatism in Washington, D C. Again to open a new lane There. John is correct. Swan is quite right that there is still a huge base of support within the Republican Party throughout this country, But we're beginning to see the slow turn here..
