"That is the exact realm of recommendation. That we love libby continues. I have one farthing. it's a classic. English country house mystery set in an alternate universe or will were to turned out differently One thing i find interesting about the book is that it uses the genre ish plot idea of an alternate history but puts it in the background to make it the setting for another type of genre story The appeal of the book is how it summons up tropes and then subverts them. I don't think it pulls it off. i don't think pulls off. Everything wants do flawlessly. But it's a book. I really enjoy a book that feels very current for probably obvious reasons. I guess we'll discuss that and would love to hear you talk about thank you. There's a way toward the end of the book. Like in the in the last few chapters where it fully stops being a country house mystery murder mystery novel and becomes a political alternate history novel and it really feels. I don't know maybe if the so there are two sequels to this book. There's a half penny and there's half a crown all currency the small change series. It's called Which is about both the currency and the small d- change the butterfly flapping its wings. Hitler is still in charge of germany in nineteen sixty but Man what was i saying but the other books seem to be i think oh were overly as so if they are also in the same world. There are s- there is at least one major recurring character based on the plot synopses. I've read but it's not like they're not like direct sequels that fully continue the story that is insurers in a little bit And if i think if the second book had directly picked up maybe the way this book takes Hard right turn toward the end would feel a little more satisfying. 'cause you'd find out more about like what happened to the people who go from being like suspects in a murder mystery too literal refugees. Oh okay but i enjoyed it. I always have. It's always interesting to think about alternate histories and especially like when you're talking about the process of writing a book like we do on the show like what do you choose as your inflection point on while that's always that's always a lot of stuff to talk about so well. We will probably find a decent chunk of that to talk about today in the time that we have quickly. I'll let our readers know. She follows me around everywhere. She sleeps on my side of the bed. She looks for what i wanna do. I think what got her or really got it was we were we were. We were eating somewhere and she was holding pixie on her lap and she was cool for a little while but on the other side of the table. She looked at me. She kept looking up at her and then finally just kept looking at me with those big watery. Eyes looked at me and said okay. So which was mama. Let me go go to day so every parent literally. This is like all parents. We'd like the kid only prefers one of the parents the most and you feel like you're you're an asshole for existing and i feel like that's what's up. Pixie forces miss mia to think that she's an asshole purely for existing in the world. Maybe that might. Well you d. I think though man but i think it was because we ride home. She's like you know what if we have a baby. I don't want girl okay like that. He's i wonder don't want a girl. I don't know why wouldn't you. Why what difference does it make. She's like a carry her womb for nine months and then she just always hangs on you you realize talking about something is not here right. Apparently hypothetical situation that you have no basis for but but again. She's taking her dog parenting and she's applying to actual parenting thinks that she has a good relationship with the boy dog and that's the reason that she wants a boy. She's very protective of imaginary kids. That we don't have our remember. Made a joke about throwing a baby our kid to a dinosaur. She was pissed about that. She d- to unpack their one. Hypothetical already said to dinosaurs don't exist. There's no real threat ear mia. What does she freaking out about. She's she just didn't like the idea that i would even think of doing any child. Imaginary are otherwise one thing you like beaty wong interesting parking. Like i'm gonna resurrect and then throw a baby. Okay laughing at what you said. I think there's a larry is that is true. Apple and Google vs Epic and Fortnite: What you need to know

"There's a clash between Apple Google epic, the maker for night over APP store commission fees. So what the heck is going on. I'm ready Chang and this is your daily charge. Joining US insurer editor at large has been covering the drama for us. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for having me. Two weeks back just to kind of review things for our listeners lay the conflict for us. This has been fascinating to watch because we don't get to see stuff like this terribly often. But essentially, what happened is that EPA Games which you mentioned makes fortnight. They decided that they were going to go up against apple in a really dramatic fashion, and so what they did is that they kind of provoked a response out of apple they knew they would get in the caused Lodhran. So apple has rules on their APPs store right? You're there certain things as a developer allowed to do, and there's certain things you're not allowed to do, and one of those rules is that you have to use apple system whenever you're doing purchases through an APP. So if I'm buying extra coins or whatever you want in an APP or even subscription to Netflix. I have to get to go through apple's system and part of what apple gets out of that is thirty percent commission up to thirty percent. Sometimes, it's lower for all of the commerce that happens through the APPS. It's a really problematic thing for of developers. It's become more dramatic over the years even though commissions are roughly what they have been for a long time. It's become kind of a as apple's platform has grown, and especially because a lot of apple users tend to spend more money than Google users, it's caused a lot of consternation. So epic decides they're going to change the way the pay payments are done in the APP. They offer people discount if they pay us through the epic system instead of apples and apple decides no way. They kick him out of the APP store and then epic turns around and sues them and it was an amazing couple of hours to watch because. Epic knew this was GonNa Happen they prepared a lawsuit is extremely dramatic opening to the lawsuit bringing up how apple in nineteen eighty four was all against the corporate machine of IBM and now they become the carpet machine and it was really they really they even posted at. That famous nineteen eighty-four commercial from Apple Right. It was genius. I mean. You know not taking sides here but you have to respect the way they played this game. And as a result, you know free fortnight the Hashtag went to the top of twitter worldwide, which you would kind of expect when there are two, hundred, fifty, million fortnight players out there. But it's been a since then there's just this all of this drama that's happened between apple and it's worth noting by the way that Google was also provoked by all of this and in that same day that first day they actually kicks for night out of the store, just the same and and a fortnight turned around and. Sued them and in the opening to that lawsuit there like in the beginning Google was so proud of being don't be evolved and now they've turned around and so it was it was really like it was pretty fun to watch. So anyway, apple and an epic become the real drama in this CAS apple continues to kind of in a way publicly fight with epic whereas Google an epic We haven't heard much about since ultimately, what what does this mean for consumers especially right now with what's going on and? Specifically for Gamers play for night like what? What has these what does this dispute? resulted in for. Gamers. A really interesting sideshow while we're all board from the pandemic. I think that for most people obviously, if you don't have four nine download to your phone tough cookies, you're not going to be able to download it. Until some point epoch has actually asked the judge in this case to put a kind of rule out that would say epic can have four night in the APP store until this lawsuit is over and there is precedent for that kind of thing mostly in Europe, but it could happen. Otherwise if you have an android phone, right anything this on my phone then it you will be able to download fortnight from epoch directly be can't get in the Google play store. So that's that's kind of how consumers are affected and there are larger implications here by kicking epic out of the APP Store Apple also revoked their developer count and epoch actually make tools for game developers as well. It's called the unreal engine and this is actually in a lot of games you may not even realize. So as a result now, the unreal. Engine is going to be not be able to be changed and updated as as things go on without that developer count, and we may see that suddenly a ton of games might just break on iphone. So that could be pretty bad too but it's GonNa be a while before that happens and Katie Mr examples of some games that use the unreal engine on these APP stores. So the games that are on the APP stores that used the unreal engine you have always heard of a epic actually put out a game called Infinity Blade. Hugely, popular on the APP store a couple of years ago, and it actually had two sequels as so it was really popular. There are outside developers as well who've used it. For example, there was a game called City lockdown that was a again, pretty popular and ended up doing well on the APP store. There's a bunch of other games out there that are more. Usual stuff like pinball games and and racing games and stuff like that But the point here is that a lot of the developers out there increasingly used on real especially in the PC gaming in the end, the console gaming world. So this is something that could be really meaningful as apple and Google try to kind of turn their their devices into these gaming platforms suddenly cutting off one of the main. Gain Development Systems is a pretty bad look

Panic in the Streets

"We're discussing panic in the streets starring. Richard Would Mark Paul. Douglas Barbara Bel Getty's Jack Talents. Zero mastel directed by Eliah Kazan. This is the now playing. Co-host who's fond of Shishkabob Arnie Stewart? And this the CO host. Who Likes High Foreheads Jacob? Well we hope everybody at home is healthy and safe and likely quarantined. No matter where you're listening to us from the world. Yeah at the moment of recording. We are all separated apart. Watching the news is one of the shows that we've taped since this pandemic has hit America. We are hearing reports. There are over sixty thousand cases in America by the time this airs. Who knows but we are thinking about this pandemic and checking in with you. You guys told us you were interested in watching movies about viruses. I don't know about that you know I can understand why some people might be like. I want to turn that off. I don't WanNa think about that. It's scary to contemplate when you turn on the news these days. Yeah but people are I think indulging in it in some ways entertainment as of this recording contagion is the number four movie on Itunes and it has been for weeks and outbreak is in the top twenty five and let's face it. We had to kind of fill out our schedule. The new mutants is punted for the sixth time or something but James Bond got moved black widow. The new saw film fast and furious nine and just a couple days ago when we're recording. This wonder woman. Eighty four half of our schedule for the spring has no release date anymore. Yeah I thought it was going to be a super busy month person July and lots of new releases and now we don't know yes and we didn't really necessarily know how to approach virus movies. Either there are a lot of them and we've covered some of them and you can go find those in the archives. Twenty eight days later and I am legend. All the stand. I did a list. I wanted to see how many we've really done if people wanted to do. A full now. Playing virus retrospective. There's the I am legend trilogy. Starting with the last man on earth in nineteen sixty four. Yeah then Omega Man in seventy one. There's the stand from ninety. Four twelve monkeys. That counts right. Nine Hundred Ninety five definitely twenty eight days later two thousand and two resident evil also two thousand two twenty eight weeks later as well. Yep Yep rise of the planet of the apes and then its two sequels but rise. Came Out in twenty eleven. Dare I add it in the name of the King Two worlds. It might make you sick watching it. And there was someone plotting to release a virus. Yes and they did. That's the thing it's not if they were blinded they released it in the Kingdom of EB World War Z. And Day of the dead bloodline. Yeah I think what's different here because we do want to be sensitive. We're not doing the sensational Zombie outbreak. Type films I mean. We talked about all kinds of viral outbreaks. And we really wanted something that that would speak to. What's going on right now. Though yeah I agree I mean I want a very clear eyed view if you WANNA laugh and enjoy camping ones no judgment but it might seem inappropriate to make light of something that seemed so severe the way I thought about it is. It's more interesting even though we're told. Time and again. These are unprecedented times. Mankind has always dealt with viruses. It has always been a part of our story and it was interesting to think that we could go back through the decades and look at the ways that it was presented on film and how the general public thought about contagion and viral outbreaks. And it makes sense that we would start with panic in the streets in one thousand nine hundred fifty film when we were discussing the Tom Cruise film losing it Stewart. You pointed out that in the eighties. A lot of movies were being set in the fifties because baby boomers who were in their formative years in the fifties grew up and now they were writing films in the eighties so setting them thirty years earlier while thirty years or specifically thirty two years before nineteen fifty. The Spanish flu was out there so a lot of people. My Ninety nine year old grandmother is regaling me endlessly with this coronas. Nothing you should have been there for the Spanish flu. Nine hundred eighteen. Not many of us can say that we were there for that but it does sound awful. It killed a whole lot of people. And Yeah that comes up a lot. But even in the nineteen fifties which is the start. I think of the movie. Sub-genre virus movies kickoff with panic in the streets. Nine hundred fifty s were a scary time. That looked a lot like. Are you know right. Now we're thinking very much about protecting our seniors because they're what's at risk for covert nineteen but back in the nineteen fifties. Hide your kids to let them go to the pool. Don't let him play with other kids because if you do they're gonNA get infantile paralysis. Polio I mean the scare was real people close pools. They didn't let their kids out. He was considered a summer plague. School's out and then all of a sudden just populations of people all throughout the United States would suddenly be hit hard and kids would suddenly lose motor function and only able to breathe when they were put into an iron lung interesting statistic by the way it sounds a lot like corona only two percent of the population actually develop the disease and most of those cases were mild. Most of the people were not left with long term disabilities but it did impact a whole generation. I know my mom believes. She was diagnosed with polio. My Dad's second wife had it. You know the thirty second president. Fdr The reason why he was in a wheelchair he got it when he was thirty. Nine years old. You didn't even have to be a kit. People were living like we were back in. One thousand nine hundred eighty. When this movie came out there was a real field. If you send your kid to the movie theater. He touched another kid. This could happen wasn't until one thousand nine hundred eighty five. When Jonas Salk released his cure which was very controversial he was doing things that scientists disapproved of in order to get that vaccine and it worked one monkey equaled six thousand doses of immunization. And before you know it all the kids got to lead the iron lung and come home and famously. He didn't even keep the patent. It's something that warms my heart. When I think about it he thought it was unethical for anyone to profit from this cure and so he gave it away for free so there was panic in the streets in nineteen fifty and I think the other thing that might have inspired. The onset of movies talking about viruses was the smallpox outbreak of nineteen forty. Seven guy got on a bus in Mexico. City drove all the way to New York City. Didn't feel so well with feverish. The whole time went to Bellevue hospital a week later he died. That was when the doctors realized. Oh my God is smallpox. They had had a vaccine for smallpox for over century but because smallpox was so rare like nobody was immune from it so suddenly everyone. That man had come in contact when the bus was infected and it was being you know across the country so everyone literally was being impacted. Kind of like we are now. Everyone potentially could have smallpox what the government did was they started a big PR blitz. They put out commercials on the radio. Tv magazines go to our free health clinics. They opened them up all over the country. Get your vaccines and so everyone could sing the songs everyone knew about shots and the necessity of getting immune to smallpox. Hollywood jumps on trends. If something is big in the news. They're going to come up with a movie about it and I think that's the movie we're here to talk about today. I'd never heard of panic in the streets until we decided we were going to cherry pick. What is what the best the most iconic virus movie from each decade the fifties through the teens. And you said this is the top one on the list I I. I never heard of this. Yeah nor have I. This is totally new to me. I knew by reputation but I've never seen it either. I do think most people know Elia Kazan. He was a director more famous. Maybe for Broadway the stage but he helped pioneer the method acting. So if you know Brando if you know James Dean if you know all of those leading light actors for the nineteen fifties Elliott. Kazan probably worked with them and got them to be the actors that they were. Yeah I did look up this director and and unfortunately Brando. Unless he's in Superman or the godfather I I got a blind spot for his films as well as James Dean so I recognize. Yeah Kazan oh he's he's actually done some big movies but this one isn't one of his that I've heard of

Michael Jordan, Keanu Reeves And Emile Hirsch discussed on Collider Movie Talk

"So apparently the matrix matrix for it is happening variety reports that loud on what caskey will write and direct a fourth matrix movie with kiana ribs and carrie ann moss reprising their roles so given all the rumors circulating about the matrix. I was surprised to hear this especially given the ending of revolution. So what do do you think about this news. Where could they possibly go with the story. Now i gotta let coin ready for this movie. It's okay in one thousand nine hundred nine twenty years ago. They foretold how ominous technology was gonna be. That movie was so prophetic and now we're living in an age where we often often don't know what's real and what's simulation whether or not you go to burning man. There's a very zatarain surreal quality to what reality is because of fakes because of technology. We've been overcome by technology technology in real life and now there is the perfect time to make the matrix four to retroactively fix the matrix two and three which could have been one very good movie rumor was i heard this this was back in the early two thousands that the animatrix and the matrix two and three it was supposed to be a trilogy but they wanted to do one before the matrix one after the matrix but because of the star wars. I don't know if this is true. Through warner brothers like no no no so they made the animatrix and then they split two and three into two movies but it should have just been one and that's why this movie's filled up loaded. I don't know if that's true but now they can fix that the matrix is more timely than ever keanu reeves is back in another hot streak carrying moscow's incredible and jessica jones. I love the idea of. I don't know why it's it's one which hausky but i love the idea of original crater coming back to a franchise that actually changed cinema. The first matrix is one question for you though so so. I think you use the word retroactively we're. We're talking a lot about ret cons lately but we were talking about something even before the show started that i think might be important to point out here when you say you know do things retroactively ret con whatnot. You're not talking about necessarily just like wiping the slate clean and saying this never happened. You're talking about adding it <unk> adding to it enhancing it. I haven't watched them in years. I've watched the first one planning but the second to there's an entire sequence if i remember correctly with the architect where there's a bunch of nieto's what easier franchise to fix than one where there's that many reality is easier. It's a movie about coding recode. The damn matrix is right there. So all you needed was the people that want it and the technology to catch up to make it different enough to make it worth making and the talent and we got all that in this announcement one of my very favorite things in this announcement is a quote and it says many of the ideas lilly and i explored twenty years ago about our reality are or even more relevant net lake more relevant now. That is the key terms phrase whatever that suggests that this franchise is worth bringing back. I could tell your super into into whatever <hes> was pitching this now well. It's just something i'm really passionate this year in general and storytelling is all the use of parallel realities alternate timelines justice that is also in any property and immediate fixture problem like it's not annoying. It's interesting it's exciting and and this is a- an ideal property to do that with you have to you we also have seen so with halloween. You can go that didn't happen and people will be okay with it. It's totally fine but by incorporating these sort of parallel words or re recoding as you said you don't have to do that you can satisfy both realities without pissing off a fair legion of fans who probably would be like what we saw that happen. It's real may chase recorded voted well. The thing is we say glitch in the matrix in everyday vernacular expression yeah a glitch in the matrix console all three and four we can actually go back and have a deja vu black cat experience and that's exciting and canneries doesn't age. It's very convenient. I that was one of the the biggest things about the story just seeing that the two of them are back but also we only get one which hausky this time which i find very interesting just curious. What do you guys make of that. I mean it is an interesting scenario that you hope is not in any way negative. The fact that lily was mentioned in the press release speaks well and the fact that they've worked together for like forty years see. We looked quite peacefully. I maybe lillies busy. Maybe she feels done with the story. You know there's a lot lot of possible reasons for that but it's it's interesting from a creative perspective if if that is solely lana on her own that i'm curious to see okay how the world might feel different when it's just one mind sort of creating this time around what's interesting to me is is that in conjunction with how many incredible creators came out of the matrix as we have like the john wick team and so many people that we now have directing their own work whether or not they come back to be like first a._d. Or any sort of second unit what the assemblage blue-chip the matrix is because we only have one which hausky instead of the pair so i'm really curious what the movie feels like and we'll be able to tell it's one of them instead of the pair of them because we've only seen them work together to my knowledge. I don't think i've ever seen a single hausky film. I think you're right. I i did like tried to double. Check really fascinating. There's always i'm <music>. I'm an apologist for a lot of their people. Don't like like i'm a big fan of what was the one about the the true through tom hanks. I liked that movie. I the credits of cloud atlas. They reveal who everybody played. Yeah i mean look. I like all of their movies yeah right up on the second for jupiter island because i love that speed racer summons emile hirsch whenever speed racer sir is trending. Emile hirsch was like yes. I'm here in tweets but like speed racer is one of those cult following. I think it came out six months too soon. The world wasn't quite ready for speed racer and the matrix four or is. I hope this is a movie that blows our minds because what they did with bullet time in ninety nine changed things. I can't wait to see what they can do. Twenty years later technology. I'm also curious are as has she says it's more relevant but also our relationship to technology has changed entirely in those decades and i'm very curious what the perspective on it is if it's still the the same. Is there any part of the movie where it's like now. We gotta plug back in the ass plugged in now. I know well. That's what's interesting is ninety nine i. I don't maybe i'm wrong but i don't think phones had internet like or if they did. It was rudimentary pretty average folks. I don't mind texting back marrow's still playing snake on nokia that point and you're doing like corey keyboard texting yeah. I was eleven so i don't remember who had i didn't have internet so what we are now. Now is such a different animal than what that movie represented them but you can watch the matrix now and it doesn't feel old yeah when you watch the matrix the first one it doesn't feel dated so i can't wait to see what they do with the world catching catching up to the reality of the already made. Maybe i'm just i'm afraid to see what they're about to foretell about the future sickly the way they did with the last one hundred forty nine the matrix man. That's a very fair concern very very. I want to know but i'm not sure if i want a fair concern that speaks to how rich this opportunity entity is because it's very exciting because we talk about you know reboot sequels franchises continuing you know twenty years after the last movie came out you name it and we're always like well you repeating something like does this just seems like a really again rich opportunity to continue a popular franchise where you're basically justifying it in the pillars of the franchise itself so i'm pumped and for me. It doesn't doesn't feel like where we have like. Indiana jones nineteen where they're like inventing a new story. The matrix said the video game the animatrix and the two sequels this rich world. They've already built up that they probably had other ideas for or and had ideas for the last twenty. Here's a here's a question from the live chat briefly from who rang who's writing. What does what does it mean for michael jordan. He was mentioned to star matrix matrix reboot. Maybe plays morpheus as son but really quickly before you guys even answer that it was making me think <hes> oddly enough off. I am more into the idea of another matrix movie with keanu coming back with a movie basically being pitched as matrix four rather than getting what we were originally talking about about you know just prequels and different offshoots as much as i like michael jordan i kind of hope that that is done and it's gone and they just move move forward as we were just discussing here. I mean i might be remembering incorrectly but i believe that had a different writer attached they did yeah sounds like a pretty the different project i have no problem whatsoever with michael jordan being in this movie because he's phenomenal and that would be great casting if they want to keep that one little nugget of that project alive. I do please yeah but it sounds that they're pretty separate at least from what the reports read like yeah to me. This is a separate property but if he's on the radar is on the radar so then it's a good thing and it's warner brothers so michael. Jordan is very much on their radar so it's a great opportunity to clarify. I'll take michael jordan anything. It's just when i first read the read the the news or a rumor at that point that that's what they were exploring. I'm like okay but then i hear something like what we're talking about right now and that's the hook. That's how you get me back in. I agree i. I don't think a reboot released spoke to me but hearing the story evolved from an original creator really speaks to the original team for the team sending

"It's like it's like if there's three movies like rocky three I know there's like seven or eight th Rockies. I'm saying you wouldn't say rocky threes. The third sequel, it's the second sequel. You see what I'm saying? Yes. No. I got you. I grabbed police now. My last grammar police I put it up on my Instagram at David Brody case you haven't seen it yet. I called major grammar police on target, and I looked it up. Walmart does the same thing. And I'm sure there's a store near you. That does the same thing. It says rest is over the restroom. It says please do not bring unpaid merchandise into the restaurant. You've seen that sign. Right. Yes. Of course. Okay. Do not bring unpaid unpaid merchandise. Yes. There's a restaurant now. Here's the problem. I tweeted dear at target all merchandises, unpaid unless it has a job with you. And it's getting paid what you meant was no unpaid former chin Dai's in the bathroom. Also once it's paid for it's no longer merchandise. It's just your stuff. That's right. So you could say don't bring merchandise in or say don't bring anything that's unpaid for right, but unpaid merchandise means you're not paying it salary. Right. We known. You're one hundred percent, right. Also. All right. I think I think I got we'll do the rest of the next week. I got so many. I just want to mcdonagh police while the jingles playing. Yeah. I wanna talk about a couple of cats pronunciation situation here. I do yours, and I got some couple of the many bad resumes in terms of Email that came in from Michael red cow ski who was complimenting me about getting his name right on episode eighty when I read the Email. Skip. Can you imagine that the contempt for the jersey kid, the contempt? All right. So here is here. Are I want you to here's this resume. I want you to read this one. Okay. All right. We go to let's put the neck arrived poor thing and. Michael Brown Portugal. All right. We'll be. We'll be right back. What's up? This is Michael Rapaport. And you're listening to the Brooklyn boys podcast with Brody and scary. I got to do another fuck and take because you guys can't figure whose name. So I forty and scary. So why the fuck do? And Brody because scary didn't want me on his podcast that you fuck you. It's Brody and scary. That's the way it is people try and lose weight, and then they gain it all back because a lot of weight loss programs tell you what to do while you're on the plan, but not after with Neum, you lose all the guilt and learn how to develop a new relationship with food. "Like the the idea of a theme park of dinosaurs that you can go and visit that works like a disneyland mixed with the biggest awesome zoo you can imagine where the coolest creatures that ever walked the earth or are there is an amazing idea and that ruined utopia that that think watching the coolest thing go horribly wrong is a very fun idea and this movie that we're about to talk about doesn't care about any of that because we we already went through it but dress world the first drastic world i had a lot of fun again we get to see that cool the idea of what would this fantasy theme park be like and then we watching jeff you just drive the premise of drastic park one i mean it's the exists functional you know that that's what i'm saying is the first one worked for me and then dress world worked for me and all the other ones that didn't do any of that i see didn't work from and that's that's why i think drastic world worked for me is because it actually managed to capture the thing from the original drastic park which was the fun about it is like yeah what you're saying is all these people didn't know where they were going and you get welcome to jurassic park and it's awesome like jeff twisted this argument to make dress world seemed good that's great i don't know if i give you for that one but i think there's there's fun in the the the the core fund that i have with this franchise has only happened twice or and that to me the core fund is what is the tokyo of what this would be like and then watching that go wrong every other interruption of it is just a monster movie where the monsters happened to be dinosaurs but could be anything petric's is more patrick do you wanna leave smackdown on drastic world or or do you only just move onto fallen kingdom what do you think i mean i feel like i'm going to get to it like as the sun goes on because dresses sitting up yeah i mean drastic world is my least favorite movie in the entire series i think it's the worst by far and i get what jeff is saying i do understand the appeal of that notion but part of my issue just like inherent with the movie is that it does the same things that the other two sequels did but kind of worse because the movies they already proved that dinosaur theme park is about idea because it fails in the first movie it fails in the second movie when they try to do it again and the sort of initial premise of drastic world is oh but actually it can work it's you just do it let's just wait twenty years everybody forget about how the park failed mosa how this franchise failed let's just do it again and everybody'll forget basically and ironically that actually have to life but you it's a meta commentary and it actually did again it was a massive hit it was a massive success we should say by the way that dressy park fallen kingdom currently tracking for third place in the summer movie wager under the incredible which looks like it's going to come in second so it did pretty well opening weekend hundred fifty million dollars but significantly less well than drastic world one just wanted to highlight that before we get to diving into the movie itself so let's do a bedrick drastic world fallen kingdom your reaction to this movie overall especially because like you you made this video essay about why dresser park sequels are bad you hated dress world so what happened with your opinion on this movie yes so i went into this movie with expectations almost as low as they could possibly be because i hate drastic world i really do i don't i the only thing i like about drastic world is i think jake johnston's fun and he hasn't even in this movie and and so the one thing and also you know trevor wasn't directing this one but he wrote it so his fingerprints would still be all over it and my one hope is that since jay is a better director than colin trevorrow my hope was that he would at least elevate the material a little bit and.

"And the melting head at the end of raiders lost i but he he would go on he directed the sequel to the flying mel brooks produced as well which is with eric stokes yeah as the son of brundle fly says one thing with this with this series you have the kind of vincent price movie from nineteen fifty eight and had two sequels as well and the secret of the first one was the son of the fly and then there was another the grandson afterwards and this one it's the families really don't learn apparently jeff goldblum row vincent price letter after the film's release instead of hope hope you like this much as i liked yours an prices reply that was the wonderful to a certain point but when a little bit too far so matt you've seen the vincent price originally the fifty seven fifty eight fifty eight i think it came out how does it compare to this i mean it's really good solid fifties scifi horror yet it's a lot of fun it's added it compares i mean it's based on a short story i believe that was going to publish it was published in playboy i mean it's been awhile since see it short run isn't eighteen movies that were remaking movies from the past like the thing the blob is an invasion of the task the remake of that is terrific yeah we love so much about it so you mentioned the the kind of gross out effects but can revisiting it it's perhaps cronenburg's most mainstream.

"Alrighty well dave are you are you looking for two sequels of this movie damon review cast yeah no no i wore this movie no points i may god have mercy on it soul disagree with every point i've made as you know david hates this movie completely different bill that's right that's right i had completely different problems of it than you not being one hundred percents series so but yeah i just i i really this was i paid to go see this movie and it was totally a situation where we were not reviewing it i would have walked out about halfway through i mean i think my my audience was made up of primarily teenage girls as well and they they felt very restless in fact they were so restless that a gentleman sitting behind me went like got up and at one point gave a pack of girls a stern talking to for disrupting the movie so which is like which is really interesting because it happened literally three minutes before the end of the film so i was like dude just wait it out is it pre or post wet tshirt content alvin yeah yeah i don't know right at the end so okay but yeah i yeah you know you can really bring up a really good point which is like there there is there is some record of franchises having a terrible start and still surviving but i mean i think that any of the harry potter films is more enjoyable than this one i mean i think like trying to run through like what other really hated those.
