"The rush because Joe we've talked about it a couple of times on the show before Most penalty killing teams anticipate that the power play is just going to enter the zone or they're going to dump it in and they're going to try and get set up into their scheme The Blackhawks don't do that Sometimes they try and score off the rush and catch the penalty killers sleeping because they're anticipating just a smooth entry and then trying to pass it around and look for the pretty play but they didn't do that It was an entry by Kane to strome and then just like it was back in 1617 with the Erie otters a wonderful pass to Taylor radish who just snapped it to the back of the net in the first period loves that gloved hand side shot top right corner and then the second power play goal again just great move and I was talking about it with Jason Ross It's how quickly a power play can move the puck There was some really good retrievals and I think it's the opposite way of thinking about it where yes the power play has 5 guys and the penalty kill has four but for a power play you have to outwork those four guys If they have two guys in the corner battling for the puck you need to have three If the penalty killers have four guys down there you gotta have four to be able to outman and use that man advantage to your advantage And make sure that you're capitalizing on the power play but then once you do get it back like the Blackhawks did you need to move it quickly and they went from Jones at the point down to the left hand side for Alex to bring it and when he got the puck He didn't do 8s the candles and look at his options He knew what he was going to try and do with the puck before he got it He knew that once he got to his stick he was looking to slide it right across the Patrick Kane which is exactly what he did and because he did that It was so quick it did not allow the Anaheim duck penalty killers to get back into position to deny that scene play So you love to see what the hawks have been able to do on the power play and hopefully they can keep doing that if they keep moving their feet and they keep working the offensive zone They're getting to get another one or two in this third period and hopefully try and turn that to a three or four on the scoreboard The Blackhawks with two power plays Anaheim with none but that didn't stop the ducks from playing their strengths and that's offense Nick they had 14 shots on goal in that second period We really got to see Kevin Lincoln and kind of get into his groove in that second period I love seeing Kevin Lincoln and when he is in a confident mood He is a powerful guy being able to work from one post to the other And look in recent time it hasn't been easy for Kevin Lincoln and like I said earlier we talked about he's fought some injuries He's been in and out of the neck because of Marc Andre fleury in the workload that he commands 31 saves in his last game against the Minnesota wild It was a 9 39 save percentage for him and you look at the last four games before the last game that he played He allowed 17 goals in those four games so he's had some struggles but I think this could be a real jumping off point for him Think about the mentality Joe He knows he's the guy moving forward for the rest of this season at least Now is he going to play all 19 games No But he's going to get the vast majority of them So there is a certain confidence of knowing that every day you go to work for the most part You're going to be the guy that can go through his normal game day routine and take the starting reps in practice and just know where you are It's no different than a player If you're a guy that's on the fence and you go to the rink and they're every day and you don't know if you're playing You don't know if you should do extra laps after practicing get a workout in or if you should start getting ready for the game because those are two completely different situations So for Kevin Lincoln I think it's a confidence booster now He knows he's the guy It stinks losing mark Andre flurry but that's the business Now it's Kevin Lincoln in to lay siege on and he certainly has made some big stops in this game and like I.
