Panel backs moving opioid antidote Narcan over the counter
"U.S. health advisers say the overdose reversal drug naloxone should be made available as an over the counter medication. It's the latest government proposal to increase the use of the medication against the opioid overdose crisis, which kills more than 100,000 people in the United States annually. The nasal spray version Narcan is already available without a prescription in all 50 states, but switching it to over the counter status would allow Narcan to be sold in vending machines, supermarkets, and other locations. There are labeling concerns which the drug maker says they will work on, and the FDA still has to make a final decision, but government officials hope that moving naloxone beyond the pharmacy counter will boost sales with potential to lower costs. Currently, the drug can cost $50 for a two pack when not covered by insurance. I'm Lisa dwyer

"To do whatever it takes for as long as it takes and as the science improves, and we are able to use improved techniques to extract and analyze the DNA that is available to us from these remnants that we go back to them, and we continue to try to make a new identification. Of course. In the beginning, the process was much more rapid because The specimens were easier to work with, at this point where working with fragments of bone, some of them very, very small the size of a tick tack. But the power of DNA is that the only need a little bit to make an identification. The DNA, though, does need to be intact and the conditions down at ground zero that day on 9 11, and in the months and years after that, Were absolutely the worst that could be imagined for maintaining the integrity of DNA. There were, of course, the explosion the fire the fuel from the Jets, the water from firemen trying to put out the fires. All that degrades DNA, as does the passage of time. So we were faced with specimens that you know are in. You know, previous times, it would be unheard of to get any kind of DNA from them. But you know, we continue our efforts. And now technology is so much better that we can get identifications from even smaller, more degraded fragments of DNA, and that's what we're working with now. Better extraction techniques. And then better techniques that analyzed. Yes, I mean, for Lay people listening. Can you explain a bit about what those advances have been? Sure at the beginning we were trying to extract DNA from all the specimens and bone in particular is very difficult to extract DNA from and over the years we've developed improved techniques in order to get more DNA out of even smaller pieces of bone and get out more efficiently. So that's what we have been working with over, especially over the last few years in the fall. Now we are going to be starting to use a new technique called Next Generation Sequencing, which will it's an even more sensitive techniques so that we will be able to generate DNA profiles from even smaller fragments of DNA. And this kind of technique has been used by others, Uh, in remains, for example, from various wars and those kinds of situations where the DNA is also very degraded. So we are hopeful. That this more sensitive technique will in the future. Allow for more identification. What does it mean for the families who know that their loved ones? Have been lost and have known it for many years to actually get the phone call to hear that there has been a and identification made. So let me start by saying that we know the wishes of every family. Some families do still want to know if we make an identification, and some families have chosen not to hear from us. And families cannot course change their mind about that. You know, as years go by, as new generations of family members are making these decisions, and a family can always reach out to us on their time schedule. And ask if there have been any update, given that the families who do want to know which is the majority are extremely grateful for our continuing efforts, and the times that we have been able to make these identification even so many years later. Are some of the most rewarding tons of my career to sit with families and to tell them fat. Finally, we have found something of their loved one. And I've had numerous families say to me that you know, I really thought I was going to die. Without knowing for sure that mine son, for example, was was killed that day without knowing for sure without a scientific identification. And the relief in the voices and on their faces of having a little bit of their loved one to either, you know, bury or happen, remain in the repository down at ground zero. I can't say it gives them closure, but it makes them feel a little bit little bit better. I was Dr Barbara Sampson, the chief medical examiner of New York City. "The question, at least get some good Janet Brown. The problem is we get some days Jaylen, Brown is, you know, Bobby's MVP and other days he's, you know, standing on the sidelines off. All right. What if it's mean, what if it's March March Rob Williams, right? Yeah, probably was a Savage. I know I'm opposed, he's ten and ten, three blocks here. An this shelf for my 4 month. He did not go through a few games, but for the most part of March, he did that, the drug significantly, raise the defense of sailing of the team as a question, you gotta ask there for, for stretches. He did. That's what that's what I'm talking about month. Because after talking about March rob you got a legitimate argument there, you know, they all have a great defense then obviously you still lose a lot of scoring power but I mean I just think his energy is someone contagious. What when he's healthy, right? Like God, we knew he wasn't healthy. Like before they actually started taking him out again cuz you could just see it. Like energy wasn't the same, but when he was himself, I honestly on both of us before, I think it resonates with his teammates. And I think, you know how long this situation, maybe you win a few more playoff games. I'm not quite sure I was going to put you in space to win a home playoff series. Where is Jaylen Brown? Probably going to help you win a playoff series, but you you you change the way you play in the sense though. Right off. What do you guys both? You need both really does any Bowl. Yeah, to get the get to these cars. Final seating, both Jalen's a ceiling razor, Rob's doing little things that you need and the little things always matter. Again, we've talked about how the Celtics of almost ignored local things, when it comes to, how they put in this roster together. Where's your passing specialist? Where you should defend their Off the Bench, where is your veteran off the vents, a veteran presence wage. Rob. Fortunately, for them filled the passing, hope that they needed was a vertical spacer. So we had helped, make other guys better from what John saying. Did anyone make their teammates better this year than Rob did like every he always helped guys when he was on the court? That was his intention when he came out of office was so underrated because it's not about him, putting the ball to the hoop. It's just whether it was the passing, or whether just as mere presence of, getting the having someone to load the ball, you know, into the paint. Yeah. And create because he would, you know, double teams come around him or or just he has the skill set to two packs of all out and he's a pretty, he's a good passer for a big May certainly improve that part of his game and you saw how much impact could be the offense. Overall, he come back. So to like it's terrorists out like if you give them that week he'll probably stay a little bit better. I don't think he'll be a hundred percent but he could be ready for that playing a game. And it just how much, how much of an impact? Does that make upon return? Yeah, I think it would think you would think that's wrong. Game time decision and every single game at this point. Yeah, I think it would make a huge impact. I mean he was a great I think it was great best passing big. I mean he opens things up. He runs the reruns the floor guys going. Like they they can sort of work the ball through him on, on the offensive side there, he's hasn't like really good connection. He had.

I used to be apprehensive and nervous and full of tension and anxiety about that. I'm willing to learn to be more common deal. That would deal with that more more confidence and my on the right track. Absolutely one hundred percent asked me to say i need to say that out loud to myself in in the morning because that's the first the first thing i have thought i have in the morning. Oh god i got call get up in call and to your point i will. My personal assistant will say oh match stress out about that. Let's take that off his list. But that doesn't make distress. Go way that just compounds tomorrow morning when i wake up. It's twice as as as The mountain is twice as high. And i'm more twice as stressed out by it the next day so i can't keep Putting it on adding on exactly. Now there's something else that you mentioned here this tool that. I'm giving us a two step technique. That will help definitely I'm gonna give you another quick tool for this specific item because you mentioned You mentioned a behavior that you do not like to so my my job in part of what i do is to look back and see what is the cause of this. What's the intention behind this behavior of procrastinating. What does that do for you so when you find out what it is that that makes you want to do this. Bad habit of procrastinating. You can find another way to fulfill it so sometimes it's fake Smoker for example so This client was a smoker. Quit smoking two packs a day to win cigarette today so good job and then did that on their own. And then after a few sessions together could not get rid of this one cigarette every night and every night there was this super strong craving could not get rid of that one cigarette tonight so after a few session figured out that his father had passed away is father was a smoker. So that cigarette was the connection with his father so they was. There was an intention behind the behavior so knowing that intention behind the behavior he figured out that okay. When i'm craving the cigarette is because i want connection with my dad so now opens a photo album and look at pictures of his dad and memories and whatever and the cigarette craving goes away because all he wanted was a connection with his dad's same with a client. That was eating chocolate in san diego called me up and said i've heard that you can help me with this. I used to work for chuck chocolate company back in canada and then moved to san diego. I'm doing something completely different. So you've you already have guessed. Whenever she had the chocolate craving it was because she was craving or time when she lived in canada with her friends all she has to do is to go on facebook and look at pictures of of her friends. Call her friends up. She's missing or friends from canada from when she was working at a chocolate company. It's pretty obvious in this case. Let's look at your case. So i feel that. There's a limiting belief behind the asking for money. Maybe it's a financial a financial at the identity level member mentioned with six different layers of the brains of the identity level. There's the there's the The i'm not worth to get paid kind of thing when also i don't deserve this money and i had a huge limiting belief myself about money when you live when you live paycheck to paycheck. Because if you make more money you spend more right. So i was really good at at making money and i actually sold a business in my twenties and i might the kind of money you know that i would not have had to work very hard for the rest of my life two years later. Where was this money gone. Because i had this limiting belief that i was really good at spending money so i had to change my limiting beliefs about money. So maybe there's some work that needs to be worked i into do you deserve this money while hell. Yes because look at what. You're doing like that. This show is allowing all many audience members to to see their message or see so if you have to collect the money. You're doing them a favor so it's to change and refrain this limiting belief. That's gonna be working hand in hand with the two step technique because there's very often the limiting belief. My husband wanted to lose some weight and we eat oatmeal in the morning and he would eat toast with it. So he said because. My background is also Nutrition and my first book was nutritionist. Friendly a brand that is healthier for me. What kind of brad can i eat as to. Why do you need the brightest. The world bowl of oatmeal is. I don't feel full after a bowl of oatmeal. So find me another brad so instead of finding him. Another kind of bread i said. Why don't we change the limiting belief instead that you need to full. You don't need to feel full. Our ancestors did because they had to haunt for three until they will kill the next prey to eat again. That's why we have a big stomach. We don't need to fill it not in our society in two thousand twenty one so by changing the limiting belief combined with that to step technique. I think you might be An how do you change limiting belief with the two step technique. So you would say. I used to believe that i was charging too much for my show which you're probably not or. I used to believe that. I did not like to collect money. I then then you say. I'm in the process of understanding that. It's my duty to be stinking rich because i do good with my money. I hope people. And i. I have this amazing platform for people to share their message and for people to watch and to get better and all my gosh like i. It's a cell like it's an emergency because all your audience members they they need your show. Who are you to keep that from them. Just because you're afraid of asking this guy for money like what would you think you are. You mean like you're depriving all these people from your amazing.

This is democracy now democracy now dot org the quarantine report i mean goodman is we continue to look at voting rights. We turn now to the fight over voting by mail. Republican lawmakers across the country are moving to make it harder for voters to cast ballots by mail. Even though some states have safely conducted elections by mail for years on thursday texas state senate passed a sweeping voter suppression bill that includes a provision to make it illegal for local election officials to send vote by mail applications to voters even if they qualify joining us now is oregon's democratic governor kate brown. She's the national chair. Vote from home. She served as governor since two thousand. Fifteen oregon was first state in the country to institute voting by mail and to establish automatic voter registration. Ninety two percent of eligible or are now registered to vote governor brown welcome to democracy now. Can you talk about what oregon has done. All of these years. The safety of voting from home in terms of voter fraud and the attack on it. Now thanks amy. I so appreciate the opportunity to be on the program. This morning oregon the country several decades ago with the passage of an initiative to enable oregon voters to vote by mail. Vote from home. And so we've been voting by home by mail since the late nineteen ninety s and it. It's extremely successful. It's successful because oregon voters find it convenient and In this state we believe that your vote is your voice and every single voice matters so our efforts both from democratic side in the republican side have been to ensure access to this very fundamental right because we believe that chrissy works better when every eligible american every eligible oregonian can participate in addition to that Oregon led the way with our automatic voter registration. Bill that was legislation. I craft when i was secretary of state We now have over ninety. Two percent of oregonians registered which is extraordinary in oregon is frankly the most accessible State to vote in the country. The automatic voter registration is really groundbreaking and seventeen states have followed our lead but the goal here is to make it as convenient and accessible to register as possible. And frankly you go get your driver's license here in the state and you are automatically registered to vote. You can certainly decline if you choose to. But it puts the burden on Oregonians that don't wish to participate and that's exactly how it should be in a democracy but it's really bad paradigm shift all organizations from the league of women voters to our student association groups to students organizations like the bus project All of these organizations are now spending their time to educate to engage and to empower voters across the state. All of the resources that went into voter registration are now being used to engage voters. that's the right paradigm shift arizona. Iowa can you talk about the efforts to suppress voting by mail there. These are efforts in states like iowa. States like georgia states like arizona to shutout voices of eligible voters. And it's both racist. It's broken and it's undemocratic And it should be unacceptable. And that's why. I'm supporting both. Hr one in hr four in the us. Congress i think it's critically important That are federal Elected officials take action to preserve the very fundamental right to vote but these actions are because conservatives because republicans don't want to hear voices they don't wanna hear black voices they don't wanna hear brown voices they don't wanna hear indigenous voices. They don't wanna hear women's voices. We have to do everything we can. We have to hold these legislators who voted for these racist policies. We have to hold them accountable. And i'm so delighted to be participating in our vote from home organization because we're going to do exactly that and we're gonna continue to engage in a power voters in the states and make sure that their voices can be heard. I'm before we go kate brown. I wanted to ask you about the significance of this week. It's the first week of the derek chauvin trial Accused of murdering Floyd george charge with vert of murdering george floyd protesters in portland took to the streets for more than three straight months following his death and in response to the protests last year. Donald trump tweeted anarchists agitators protesters who vandalized or damage our federal courthouse in portland or any federal buildings in any of our cities or states will prosecuted under our recently reenacted statues and monuments act minimum. Ten years in prison. Don't do it. He tweeted contrast this response to how he and the republicans have responded to the insurrectionists in the capital on january six. Well shame on him. It is appalling. The hypocrisy the corruption and of course the chaos of the trump administration in oregon. We support the right of folks to peacefully protests and honestly given what is happening in legislatures across the country. We have to use every tool. We can to hold legislators accountable. I also working with local elected officials to make sure that folks who do not protest peaceful who commit person or property damage are held accountable as well shame on donald trump this past summer in portland oregon hundred day protests that we saw against the racism and police brutality that culminated in a death squad style. "Western medic medicine doctors. There are lots of people out there who are trained to help you with that kind of went off there now. That's i think the message here is in this. Is i will quote dr call will s olsen he is. He's incredible if you want to know anything about heart disease. That's the man for you. I can't say enough about him. I i will stop here. Because i will get off on a tangent. But he did say this genetic slows the gun in lifestyle pulls the trigger so we can't use our genetics. Excuse scapegoat or honest with adopted homey. No no and no again. You have more control of your health. Then you genetics. Your genetics are there absolutely. You can be predisposed but something has turned it on right correct. This is why you see. Some people like for example super-quick. My mother who sixty six smokes two packs of cigarettes per day and has since i was born so forty seven years of smoking cigarettes two packs per day. She's a heavy smoker. She is asked shitload of vegetables and fruits because that is prevalent in eastern europe. And that's from and my mother like you think she should be gone by now because obviously smoking cigarettes we already know is now good for you. However she's hanging in there in not only that she is. She is active. She's just she's doing her thing. And i sit there like. Oh my gosh okay. So maybe she has good genes because guess what somebody if know. Fifty died of lung cancer because they smoke three packs in their life like the anti life right so again. It's eugenics sir there but something is turned on. Something is to trigger that cross so doctor. S olsen is very point on when he says these things because it's true but we believe because that is what we're taught. Is that what you're victim to jeans. No no no not so much not so much. Maybe but most likely not so. Let's exhaust all the other options before you sit there and play victim and you give up on your health You have a level control of your health right and when it comes to heart disease. I think it's important to point out that the only only i'll use the word diet here because that's what they use from. The scientists study the only diet proven to prevent and reverse heart. Disease is a whole foods plant based diet. They have tried Studies on the carnival. Other things in nothing. They can't prove it. So at says the pioneer of this way of thinking so whoever's listening if they're interested in heart disease which is a huge problem in our society. Cleese research doctor coldwell esam. I have heard if you've actually email him and reach out. He santia will he. I'm sorry how many. I'm sorry like that doesn't exist. He is there to show the truth in to help people and he will email back. He will speak with you on the phone. He does have the science to back it up. All you have to do some little bit of research gal one kind of interesting fact when it comes to genetic says something i just learned with. The microbiome is depression. Ninety five percent of serotonin is produced in your gut microbiome. So as i was talking earlier if you are not correctly feeding your gut bacteria you'll see a drop serotonin you'll see an increase in depression and anxiety which is exactly what we're seeing now with these high protein diets right. I think there's a direct court correlation..

I just mock each other. We got of them. When actually wasn't true. So i do like the denial as a i imagine i get that. And we typically don't have those agreements but like we will have so say we were playing. I forgot to do it But i wiped you off the table. And we're just you know in that case you know as well i totally would have done it and you know we were surrey in so there's like a little bit of give and take there you know i could have earned those points but we decided we had to rush through the last round to get our game dan. Yes maybe if he's cool with it great and if he's not great to out for me i'm not in it to win it anymore I like to do the best. I can of course but you know i. I'm more about the time we have together on the table. I think either way you're hearing different examples of how to do it. If he had had the resources that you help provide right now. I do believe that. With a more structured setting and even being able to go to a day program. I do believe that he would have lived longer a think that his diet. I can just remember him eating. I don't know what i'm going to eat when i go down to the pop shop. Just that's just part of it. But you know i do believe that that extra support for even from other uncle who is caring for him at the tom i think right. And so everybody know uncle joe but i did and i didn't say anything but i just wanted to see how they were going to react and so one by one they just started to get up and go outside because uncle joe was in the bathroom like flicking the lights on because he wanted to sit down on the couch and he wanted them to leave the bathroom flick so that we sit down and i mean he was. We backed off of how much Natural gas. We're using backed off of how much nuclear we're using me. We look a lot like California with these rolling blackouts and brownouts. It's stupid. It doesn't make any sense. It is legitimately go bad, so got covered A great Gavin for the great state of Texas on to explain all of this. I'd like to know what the heck is going on and why we're facing it. And if you watch Twitter in the past few days, something called ERCOT. Don't cut Has, um, has come to the fore. Did you ever hear her cop before? I didn't Tells her cut. We talk about that. Why they have so much power. Why they're in charge of so much of the grid. We do have an independent power grid, The state of Texas. So why would we ever have to be without power? And and as you're watching me on the street, a lot of people watching the video the program he's having shaven. I stay, Boyce, I smell. I got that going for me, which is nice. Washing in the snow. Quite literally doing my hair in the snow. We have no water. And you may in fact lose the feet and the radio. If you lose me, we do have a backup plan. I'll get back on very quickly, even with no power, But this is stupid, And it's not even about being on the radio. It's about just regular people Having a problem with this. Regular people going through their daily lives going. Hold on this, like I moved to South Central Texas and what happened? What happened is you've got this level of progressivism that is now stepping up. You got Level of progressivism that is Absolutely. Taking hold about green energy and wind turbines and so on and so forth, But why I am here from stations. I'm guessing that you're working on it because there's something going on, I suppose. Could be that this happened? Yeah. If you don't mind, I'm hearing from people who know what's going on. But the bottom line is this. You don't expect this in South Central Texas. Bottom line is this You should have enough energy and energy rich state like this. Okay? That's the bottom line. Nintendo Direct Mini: What We Learned from the Partner Showcase
"Nintendo surprised everyone late last night by announcing that it would be airing a Nintendo direct mini partner showcase early this morning. The surprise announcement last night read on July twentieth. We'll debut the first Nintendo direct mini partner showcase a series focused on titles from our development and publishing partners will share a few updates on a small group of previously announced Hashtag. Nintendo switch games? The quick window between the announcement of the thing and airing the thing. And specifically pointing out that it would only cover previously announced games lowered my expectations to the floor, but there were at least a few surprises. Here's what they shared. I the direct started with a cove in nineteen disclaimer, saying basically that the future is uncertain, and everything could change including release dates, but then they made their first announcement with was planned DLC for a game whose full title is cadence of high rule crypt of the neck, dancer, featuring the legend of Zelda. The game released last year, but it will get three new DLC packs, which will release through October. The first pack adds new characters to the game. IMPA shadow link and Shadow Zelda and then characters named Aria and Frederick who I believe our original characters. I fancy myself a bit of his elda. Didn't immediately recognize those characters D second pack will add thirty nine new songs to the game. The third pack, which seems the most substantial Ed's a whole new story with new songs where you can play as skulk the tags from yours mask who can change masks to adopt new abilities? The character pack is available today in the other packs will be available later with all the pacts eventually coming out by October, and then the game will also receive a physical release with all the DLC bundled in one box on October twenty third. I played and beat cadence of Jairo Crypto the neck road answer featuring diligent of Zelda, but ultimately liked the soundtrack a lot more than I liked the actual game. I would go so far as to say I love the soundtrack, so I am excited to hear all the new songs. I don't know that I am really eager to actually play the game more, but I am also such as Zelda soccer that I probably will. The next two announcements weren't really announcements so much. The Game Rogue Company was shown which looks like a pretty. Pretty unspectacular third person online shooter with cyberpunk sort of theme. It didn't look bad by any means that it just didn't do much to stand out. Same goes for the next game. WWE TO CAPE battlegrounds. There was some new gameplay and we saw some wrestlers who were likely well compensated to show how excited they were about the game. They were playing, but there wasn't much. That had not already been shared the mini, direct and strong, though with two big atlas announcements. Shimagami ten say one, which was basically Shimagami Tennessee, three and Japan. Is Getting remastered for release on switch next year. I would love some help here in the form of a correction because I find the Shin Montgomery ten say series to be pretty confusing as it has all devolved into different spinoffs like persona, which itself has all kinds of spin offs. I was always under the impression that knocked turn was spinoff as well, but I guess it is part of the mainline series, and this rerelease will have the number three in the title, even though it did not have a three in its North American title when it originally released in two thousand four. In any case you know where it belongs in the Shin, Mugabe cannon really isn't. All that portent the important thing is that it is generally considered to be one of the best, if not the Best Shimagami, ten say game that isn't called Persona and it's actually the entry that I play the most. It has some MON elements to it with demon collecting, and when it originally released, it featured Dante from devil may cry. Suggest character which is a cool idea. I'm curious if the rerelease will keep that Dante Cameo. It also just has a great art style to it and I'm happy to see it getting a visual overhaul for the switch release. It is coming spring twenty twenty one after that a trailer was shown for Shimagami ten. Say Five a game we have known about since two thousand seventeen, but this was the first in some time. The trailer didn't reveal much. A teenager looks like they're given some kind of demonic choice and I don't know that they make the right one. The game is coming in twenty twenty one, but the trailer didn't anymore specifics than that. I had low expectations going into this thing and they were mostly met, but I was surprised by the nocturnal announcement. That was very cool. The Internet seems generally annoyed that Nintendo has not made any big summer announcements and that with paper Mario Animal Crossing having been released. It really doesn't seem like they have any big games for the rest of the year. which is true, but the weird thing is. Is I. Don't know that it really matters to Nintendo. Twenty twenty can kind of just be a low key year for them. Because animal crossing was just that big of a hit. It feels like they are in no rush to push anything out. Because everyone is just going to keep buying animal crossing anyway, they can barely keep up with demand for the switch consoles as it is. Now with all that being said though I think Nintendo kind sees the cancellation of e three as a blessing in terms of how it likes to announce Games paper Mario was announced and released within a few months. And I think that's how Nintendo would always prefer to do it. Keep the window between announcement and release small, but e three kind of forces them to make these big proclamation announcements all piled up on top of each other and share things many months before the popular November release window with E. Three out of the way though I think Nintendo is taking advantage and will make individual announcements for games. Just shortly before they actually release. There is that rumored Super Mario collection that will gather a bunch of three D Mario Games maybe nintendo will detail it in a dedicated direct, and then release it within a month, or so closer to November, and maybe in the unlikely scenario that breath of the wild to is coming this year. They will do the same thing. have a focused dedicated direct for the game, and then it will come out shortly after or maybe as I alluded to earlier, Nintendo will just look at animal crossings absurd sales. Do a round of socially distant high fives, and just push everything in originally had planned for twenty twenty into twenty twenty one.

"Good Morning. Everyone it's time and you Chrissy. Confessions how are you doing today? Julie I am doing okay. I mean folks. I mean I don't know whether to talk about the tornado. Victims here in Tennessee are do I talk about corona that's infested and infected the world. I mean I'm just thinking what do we talk about other than corona? I mean. I've never seen anything like it asked my parents. They've never seen anything like it. I've asked my mother-in-law she's never seen anything like it. I mean who would have thought that the most powerful country on the face of the earth would shut until it's people they have to stay in their homes now folks. I advocate staying in your home. I mean let me be very clear and that cough that you hear Julia's an allergy. By the way and yes we went and both got tested. Because I am a hypochondriac between me and Jay Demarcus we keep our doctor on call. Twenty four seven. It's so scary and I mean it's and it listen it finally got chasing Savannah's attention. It has made them nervous. And 'cause when you shut down a country that tells you how serious things are. It is very very serious at this point. I mean folks I went to Cosco. Does that tell you how serious this thing was? Yeah right assets and this was at the onset. This was at the very beginning. Everything was really shut. Dan Yes you did go to twice you went to Cosco and because I was afraid that what if we ran out of something or whatever so I didn't want Julie exposed to anything so I thought okay as usual todd will take the bullet and I went to Cosco and I have to tell you. I love a cost guide. I do I love Cosco. I mean you can go in by like all this stuff in bulk. I mean you could find no that now okay now have only been going for twenty years but that's okay right but I mean you know I. I didn't know how to do it but I did it on my own. If you'll remember you had to send me a copy of our card right but but I guess my thing is is that. I hope that everyone is staying in. I hope that you're staying away from those people who are most susceptible which are the elderly and people with A compromised immune system Because I mean I'm reading stories every day of younger people who are literally fighting for their lives. Well there's one in California that that a under the age of eighteen that passed away yesterday. There's this young man in New Jersey. That's twenty something years old a picture of health that's now being transferred to was it paying hospital. Therein Pins Pennsylvania something for this new new treatment and so folks it's hitting everyone. I mean everyone. I'm going to take my mother food today. But I'm putting it on her front porch and then calling and telling her to come out and get it because I'm practicing truly social social distancing. I mean if I'd done that many years ago I'd had less trouble than one I've had but I mean it's it's to the point now too where you have to be doing what the doctors and the experts are saying to do what I found and you always give a shout out to anything that comes from South Carolina. 'cause it's where you are from. Did you hear Lindsey Graham yesterday when he was on the news where he said that if they did not pass this bill for nothing? It's two trillion dollars as the stimulus that he was going to go to the House on the floor and he was going to demand that the that the country stop paying everyone in the Senate and in the House and in the Congress to shut off their benefits and their pay until they could do their job. It's time to come to get time to together and you don't get to sit here at a time of crisis start negotiating for something that you couldn't get pushed through to begin with. But when I was laying in the bed listening to him I was like way to go. Lindsay is so true because it is an I do believe this is the Good Lord. That is saying okay. I put pebbles in your path and you refuse to look at it so now. I'M GONNA put a boulder in your match right. You guys are GonNa have to work together. Put Your differences differences aside and let's kit this country running again and we don't have to be a Democrat or Republican. A A socialist libertarian to have compassion for our fellow man. It's right I mean. Politics should have no play in compassion right and just taking care of each other exactly and so you know it's been a this whole thing has been very eye opening to the point that you know when you look at where we are and how people are responding to things and what have you. I mean it's it's it's overwhelming it really is. I mean I was listening to the mayor of New York talking and he was calling out the federal government shocking shocking that we would be doing that but he was calling out the federal government and saying that okay mayor. The governor the governor. I'm sorry Governor Governor Cuomo and he was calling the federal government out and saying okay but where are these ventilators right? Where are these what he was saying was? Why can't we put the supplies where they are needed? Most exactly because his state has more cases than any any state in the United States and I completely agree with him. You know we have it. Why things sitting surplus when we get people needing it. It's crazy exactly and so you know it really is when I look at you know I was in the grocery store because I yes folks I went to a Publix and this little old lady was in there and she was looking for hot dog buns and I had. I had you know two packs of hot dog buns in my buggy. And because that's what Juliette told me to get and they didn't have any more hot dog buns. I don't even eat hotdogs. People and I don't even care if how does our home Julia's the one who is determined. I guess she thinks that by eating a hotdog. It makes you more American. I've hated hotdog. My whole life and chloe likes them and again hurt her to have a hot dog once a month so. I had but you told me to get two bags to have overly so I gave this lady a thing of this hot dog binds and she said Oh honey. You're young. You probably have children. She says I can do without folks this little. Old Lady said she could do without. She was willing to sacrifice thinking that I had young children and that I needed a more than she. Well I didn't and I gave them to her. So you know it's those kind of things that there is still people out here that have compassion for their fellow human being yep and we need to continue more of that and we do need to continue more of that and I feel like that we in my family for the most part are very compassionate. People that we do have kind compassionate hearts but even I want us to be better absolutely we all can improve in

Is Amazon primed for coronavirus?
"So how has Amazon been responding to this pandemic in many ways but the key ones right now are trying to prioritize that they can keep in stock and keep delivering the most essential needs? That people want right now. You could go to your local brick and mortar chain and see if you can find any hand sanitizer or hand soap and in many places you'd be shit out of luck right now and it's been that way for weeks on Amazon. They may have some stuff out of stock. You may be paying a little bit more than you would in a store but you can find something that you can buy if you really want to either wait a little longer but still have the order placed or pay a little extra and that's really valuable for a lot of people. What are the major flaws? That you've noticed in how Amazon handling things though because clearly. It's not perfect right so one thing that a lot of people that shopping Amazon still don't realize is that around sixty percent of Amazon sales are in actually Amazon. You know buying inventory and selling it at themselves. These are small mom and POPs mid-size businesses selling on Amazon directly to shoppers and so Amazon has been recruiting hundreds of thousands of the sellers over the last few years across the globe in an effort to get as much selection as possible. The downside of that is with that many sewers. You'RE GONNA have tons of people trying to take advantage of this crisis to either sell stuff that's mislabeled as you know helping to prevent getting the virus or just price gouging as recently as early. March. You're seeing two packs of Purell hand sanitizer selling for three four hundred dollars. I don't know if anyone was actually buying that stuff. But the openness of the Amazon marketplace allows for that kind of attempts at taking advantage of this. This system Amazon uses a lot of automated systems to try to look for this stuff and they've also added a lot of manual. Basically people twenty four hours around the globe looking for listings that are very very overpriced or the first week in March Amazon told Senator Markey in a letter Who had been enquiring about a price gouging that they had removed more than five hundred thousand high priced offers at that time and suspended twenty five hundred accounts of Amazon sellers who are engaging in these tactics. That is a ton of products. It's it's crazy. They run into a few challenges that will along the way one of them is in a pandemic like there's that most of the world in this lifetime has never seen it's not always clear what is in is in a fair price you know if no one on earth except for Amazon is selling a certain in demand product. Is it fair for that product to be sold to times more three times more? Some people would argue. Yes if you're a believer in just supply and demand. Economics has Amazon experienced. Anything like this before. We have anything to compare that to. You know it's really hard. I'm talking to some people inside the company and they are so heads down trying to just keep up that it's hard to tell what it compares to the way I'm thinking about it you know. Amazon has prime day the last couple of years which is like a day and a half or two days shopping holiday. That's in the summer. This is a really fucked up. Prime Day that has no end in sight and is caused by something horrific. Okay I appreciate the way that you explain things. Jayson as I look out my window and see Amazon. Delivery van and a guy carrying four packages Amazon announced that basically. They don't have enough workers right now to keep up with the demand around the holidays. They typically scale up and have these huge hiring events Well this week. They said they're looking for a hundred thousand full-time in part time workers Because they're just not ready for it. I mean that is that is a crazy amount of hiring and I think it just it goes to show both the demand and how really even a company like Amazon was not prepared for this and I kind of. Don't blame them. Who is right
