Vice President Harris' trip aims to deepen US ties in Africa

"Vice president Kamala Harris is traveling to Africa this weekend to deepen U.S. ties in the region. During her weeklong trip, vice president Kamala Harris will be working to deepen and reframe U.S. relationships in Africa. It's part of the administration's effort to counter China's growing influence around the world. And in Africa, China has led huge infrastructure and telecommunications projects, but a National Security Council spokesman says China's interests in the region have been selfish. While the U.S. is trying to help Africa deal with a spate of challenges. The vice president's trip includes three nights in Ghana. Two nights in Tanzania, and one in Zambia. There's a lot of anticipation about her trip with Harris being the first person of color to serve as a U.S. vice president. I'm Jackie Quinn

The Expansion of China's Navy

"Want to play for you in anticipation of mine the next segment reading you a large part of Jerry Hendricks essay in the Atlantic. And he'll be along in the last hour. A bit that played on 60 minutes. It's the perfect backdrop as is the Hendricks article which I've just pushed out on Twitter if you're following me on Twitter, you hear it. On Sunday Night, two nights ago, toshi yoshihiro is on talking as were other guests talking with 60 minutes about the massive stunning expansion of the Chinese blue water fleet. Give a listen to this cut number 16. There is a tendency among the great powers to look at each other's naval buildups with deep suspicion. Toshi yoshihara of the center for strategic and budgetary assessments may know more than any scholar in the west, about China's navy. China will have about 440 ships by 2030. And that's according to the Pentagon. Why is China able to build more warships more quickly than the U.S.? China has clearly invested in this defense industrial infrastructure to produce these ships. Which allows them to produce multiple ships simultaneously, essentially out building many of the western navy's combined.

"Back, talking to Kevin McCullough, some of you know him as votes for damas. I too know him. As votes, but Kevin McCullough, let me ask you, you just mentioned that at least forget his name in the senator who looks like a turtle. What does that Schumer? McConnell, McConnell, the turtle man. I mean, I have to say, so he comes out and he chortles about how Tucker Carlson did this irresponsible thing by going against the official narrative. And then you have him and others, well, you have Schumer talking about that Murdoch should censor Tucker Carlson and it seems to me like the Murdoch brothers is an uday and kusa. I always forget their names. I think it's uday and kusa, the Murdoch sons, the sons of the tyrant. But it seems, did forbid Tucker Carlson from going further with this, which tells you really, really, really bad things about Fox News as it stands. There's been some changes at Fox and on the second night of coverage, Tucker did respond to Chuck Schumer, but he did not go any further with his reports. And I think you can read into that what you want to. I think that the interesting thing about this, if people are in question about the decline of what America freedoms look like, all you have to do is point to the Senate leader begging a Titan of private industry to take an action that in some way hides truth from the American people. Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell both need to understand that those hours of videotape don't belong to them. They don't belong to the senator to the house. Those hours of videotape of surveillance are surveillance of the people's house. It's our house.

Did Fox Shoot Down Tucker's J6 Footage? Joseph McBride Weighs In

"Joey, you mentioned this word and trap meant. And you also mentioned the uphill battle in which you're trying to navigate against swamp judges and swamp juries and the whole kind of contaminated D.C. environment. The question I have is this. I mean, it seems finally that there is new information coming out about January 6th. Tucker Carlson, of course, had some videos a week or so ago. Let me start with that because there was new information on the shaman guy Joseph a Jacob chansley, but there was then a sort of, as far as I could tell, an abrupt halt in the videos. I mean, if you have 40,000 hours of footage, it's preposterous to me that you'd find three clips. Speaking, honestly, do you think that Fox kind of got to Tucker and shut him down? Because expectations were so high. And while what was delivered, the first day was pretty impressive, it appears like what? That's it. There's nothing more. What are your thoughts about this? So my inclinations are, I think I share with the general public shares, right? Tucker's team is incredibly talented. They did in their defense have a limited time to go through the stuff we've been going through this stuff for two years. They had a few weeks, but within that time they were able to focus on Jacob chansley and lies about all the specific. I thought he did a good job there. I did think that on the second night that something distinctly different happened. There are different theories about that. One theory is that the producers of the higher ups at Fox News likely shut them down. I think that that makes sense. I can speak from experience and having gone on Tucker's show. You know, I had been over the target on his show with regard to some similar matters and I kind of got shot down too. And when you're over the target, people get very uncomfortable and the powers that be tend to pull the plug on situations like that.

Os Guinness, bottom of the list, pathetic. Clavin's number one, yes. No, that's not true. Actually, one of the things I have to say is it almost never happens that I do a Socrates in an event where I don't love the guest in advance. There's just been a few that have been, you know, a little offbeat, but boy, the four that we did this fall were killer. But each one in a very different way. And again, that's kind of the brand of Socrates in the city. We try, you know, it's kind of like this show, the show about everything. I like to be as broad as possible. So obviously the Andrew clavin won is on the nose talking about Jesus. The second one, which premieres this Tuesday, is James tour talking about science, nanoscience, which has implications about God, but it's really not about God. It's about science. The third one, David berlinski, Dave berlinsky is an atheist or an agnostic, he is so fascinating. I don't even know where to start. Like he's just a character, you just wait. You just wait.

Democrats Are Out of Touch With Reality

"Now Adam, there's nobody like a candidate to ask what's really going on because you've got to talk to everyone. So I want to really ask you about parents and kids in Nevada. And this is not just Hispanic for any parent. When I heard tutor, what I heard Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan lie to the people in Michigan two nights ago and say, we only shut the schools down for three months. And everyone knew that was a lot. And when I heard Kathy hochul, democratic governor of New York State, I don't know why you leave all their upset about crime. I thought these people are absolutely disconnected from the reality of the ordinary American family. Kids lost two and a half years of learning and crime scares the hell out of everyone. Is that what you're hearing? Everything you hear nationally is worse here. We're 49th in education. Our crime has soared. The border, we have fentanyl and human trafficking spikes to likes of which we've never seen before. We had all time closures and small businesses, particularly in the Hispanic community, all time closures, and these businesses are still barely hanging on a couple of years after these shutdowns. And so you're absolutely right. These Democrats are shameless, Catherine Cortez masto is running a revisionist Senate campaign with millions and millions of dollars. If they didn't have all this money in the media, we'd be up ten in this race and this thing would be over. But we all know the media throws in and all popular culture and they just pretend like this is not Democrat policy. But I'll tell you, that's what I do. Every single time I'm speaking to a group. And believe me, we've had, we've been in front of more nevadans than any candidate of either party in this state. By far.

"Don't hear anything bad coming from Pittsburgh. Isn't that interesting? It was commenting on this to my wife. Talking about my sojourn here. So much awful, disgusting news out of Philadelphia and nothing out like that out of Pittsburgh. I assume it's a more conservative city. An N region of Pennsylvania. The crime rate in Philadelphia. I commented, by the way, I hope it got back to somehow. I have 1200 people in Philadelphia two nights ago. And I commented on the left, the left that runs the Philadelphia orchestra, one of the 5 great orchestras we have many great orchestras in America, but it's traditionally believed that there is a top 5, I don't know how accurate it is anymore, but though they've always been great Chicago Cleveland Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago. Philadelphia orchestra's being destroyed, gradually, by the left which runs it. The most interesting part of the music world, and I know it well, as I am so involved in it, I have friends in many orchestras and I periodically conduct orchestras that I'm very involved in music. My follow it quite avidly. The management of the Philadelphia orchestra have contempt for great music. You would think that the people who were most would guard classical music would be the people who run the great orchestras of the country. But they have no interest in guarding classical music. They have interest in keeping their jobs, and you do that by staying woke. Cowards run almost everything in America, universities, medical associations, you name it.

"Basically every year for so many years. 19 years is the general manager in San Jose. That's pretty impressive. 19. That's a great number. It is a great company. All right. I never thought of that. There you go. You'll have that. Yeah, you'll have to take some credit for that from it. I feel like it's only fair. All right, Troy, we'll see if that works. Well, good luck winding down tonight and we'll talk to you on Saturday in San Jose. All right, thanks, Joel. Great job, but thanks, Troy. That is Troy Murray he and John whiteman with the call out at the T mobile arena tonight. As the Blackhawks fall to the Vegas golden knights, one nothing with the loss of the black hawks now fall to O two and O, Vegas improves to two zero zero. They pick up only a couple of one goal victories against the LA kings a couple nights ago and the Blackhawks tonight one nothing real quick again. If you want to jump in three one two 9 8 one 7200, give us a call or a text. We'll take your text. So far, we've gotten a text from the two one 7 area code with the hawks on. Will there be a hemp and OB show this week? I'm not quite sure. We're going to have to find that out for you, but hopefully you got your hamp and OB fix before tonight's bears game. As they had a rough loss tonight as well. But again, I think Troy Murray brings up a very good point in terms of the Blackhawks played the reigning Stanley Cup champs last night. Vegas golden knights had two nights off, short travel coming from LA and they got their home opener tonight. All that adrenaline, all those big ceremonies, all the energy in the building. That's still played a part tonight in Vegas and the Blackhawks were in phased by it in the first period whatsoever. I brought this up earlier. I think it's very important to point out the good starts that this team is getting off to. That was not the case at this part. At this point of the season last year, and that really hurt them in their chances of even being a potential playoff conversation. 60 minutes of good effort, solid hockey tonight, maybe even a little bit more than last night, but again, you're playing the Colorado avalanche last night, all in all, two games against two very tough opponents can't knock the effort. They fall one to zero tonight as they fall to O two O on the season. We're hoping to hear from Luke Richardson. We're hoping to hear from a few players as well, looks like that Luke Richardson is already talking to the media, so we should have that eventually, but again, if you'd like to jump in three one two 9 8 one 7200, we're going to take a break. We've got plenty more to get to those. We recap this Blackhawks loss over the Vegas golden knights one zero. You're listening to the Blackhawks postgame show on 7 20 WGN. "And friends will gather for the second night of Passover Many will hold a satyr a ritual meal where the story of the liberation of the Hebrew slaves from bondage in Egypt is retold For Jews around the world it's a time to honor their faith and make the celebration their own by bringing their own cultural and food traditions to the table And that's also true of African American Jews for whom the Passover story resonates on multiple levels To hear more about this we called Michael twitty he is a James beard award winning author and food historian and rabbi Sandra Lawson director of racial diversity equity and inclusion at reconstructing Judaism Michael twitty and rabbi Lawson welcome and thank you so much for joining us Yeah thanks for having us And I want to mention that we are having this conversation in advance of the holiday because I don't want people to think that we are interfering with your celebrations and practice Michael you write so powerfully as a food historian about what food tells us about history and culture and our lives And you've written about the intersection of foods in the Jewish and African Diaspora So would you just talk as briefly as you can because obviously you've written books about this and done marvelous television shows about this about why food is so important in understanding culture I think that when you're oppressed or marginalized whether that's queried any Jewish Danny black and daily and so many others I think food plays a very special role in caretaking Self care community care it's a way that we express love for each other But there's also this element of satire and humor and inside think ingenious behind African American in particular African Atlantic African Diaspora and Jewish dance but food waste You know I've often made the joke that we're the only people who when we sit down to eat we're already talking about the next meal we're going to eat or the meal we had before the meal we had And it's like all in I grew up in a multicultural community outside of Washington And of course you know there were people from some of the most ancient food cultures Greek Italian Chinese They never had these conversations But if you went to a black or Jewish household that's what that was the conversation And the other thing is that we love to eat our oppression I mean for God's sakes Passover is about some really awful bread that we had 3500 plus years ago and we're still complaining about it And I mean part of soul food is chitlins and this kind of other Why we gotta eat that Now part of Jewish food is get filter fish Why do we gotta eat that And it's always the same thing It's like you just gotta eat it And so I asked my mother one time do we have to eat our oppression Do we have to eat our pain and the answer was yes So there's a seamless line of just like connection between the two cultures I have never heard it expressed that way before but that makes complete sense And so where I wanted to ask about Passover is such a special holiday because I think that people whether they're Jewish or not understand it on an intuitive level But I think that it particularly resonates with people who connect with the African American experience So I wanted to ask you about that Is there a way in which Passover combines More than one strain of your identity You know we have all these stories of liberation We have like black liberation theology and other forms of liberation And as far as I'm concerned the exodus from meteorite which is the Hebrew word for Egypt and also I think the Hebrew word is better because it also translates to the place of pain I mean it's Ryan was the place that causes pain And it was also a place of constriction where we felt like we couldn't be ourselves We weren't free And so with that in mind definitely the story of exodus from Israeli is a very powerful story that definitely resonates with both black and Jewish communities And when I sit at my Passover Seder with my friends I can't help but draw the connection from the freeing me trying freeing the place that enslaved us and the American slavery experience you know bringing in Harriet Tubman bringing in Frederick Douglass and not just that The Jim Crow period of my grandparents and my parents and one of the things about Passover is that it is about family traditions And it's celebrated in the home and probably the most celebrated Jewish holiday because it's celebrated at home and there's a lot of flexibility about how we remember that experience of enslavement Can I ask each of you how what are your satyrs like Are they are they big Are they intimate What are they like So yeah Go ahead rabbi Please No I was just saying I was wondering like I really want to know what Michael Sanders was like Yeah me too But Michael I bet there's a lot of pressure on you But what's Passover like for you I am an extrovert I love big satyrs I love entertaining people Of course the past years have not been able to do that as much So it's been we had a four person say there last year and it seemed like really grand And now this year I have 15 people one night and 17 people the next night Oh boy it sounds amazing Yeah we have the tambourines We got everything It's hard It both traditions you cook for a crowd And it's not easy to scale down I mean you could do it but you have to go into this knowing it's going to be intimate and very purposeful and very defined Or it's going to or it has to be orchestrated I mean a satyr isn't just a meal It's like hey I got to I got cash in the kitchen I got to do this I got to do that Right The plan and then you have to also if you're leading a Seder you know figure out what parts are we going to we're going to do the whole thing for the sake of doing the whole thing We're going to skip certain parts How is the meal going to look How can I make sure everybody is happy But I mean it's all those different elements I'm sure you're going to ask the question what do you serve it And you know I am Okay thank you Yes sir So we're going to do a brisket with berbere The traditional Ethiopian spice mixture We're also doing chicken that's like DB style from Senegal I'm doing coach and Barry which is a Indian influence wahi Salad Of course they'll be collard greens They'll be this African American state of play when people can look up online with the sweet potato for the past the collard greens from the war that hot chili for the hazard the horseradish the chicken bone for immigration All those symbols will be there And so we'll have all the basics A blend of sephardic mizrahi ashkenazi African African Atlantic African American So I called my cooking style Afro ashika farting All that all that stuff is going to be on the plate I got vegans I got omnivores I have like a whole menu.

"Radio and I am so enjoying our guest today. Lewis Black. Known as the King of ranch, and he uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and finger pointing, and to expose the absurdities of life and boy are they ever He will be making an apparent soon somewhere in this country all over the place you do about 200 nights during the year less now, I mean, but I did it when when things are really rolling. It was doing two nights a year. And is it true that you have done over 400 live streaming shows, called the ranches do Yes, probably maybe even more. Because we started it. I don't know how long ago but at least 400 Yes. Where we do, I finish my show. And then afterwards I come back on stage and I read ranch that the audience and folks in that area and around the world and Britain in them and that we Literally is sent out throughout the world. And people can watch it on their computers. They can you know, it's uh, we we've got cameras and we have a satellite. We that we have access to and we send it around the world. And so I did 15 to 20 minutes show afterwards. Unbelievable. When did your rent become part of the part of the everyday lexicon. I don't really know. I mean, it just kind of started. You know, they is. The thing is when here's what it did. When some some schmuck along the way. Who does PR with? Oh, he does rants. So they had to. You know, that was the hook. Yeah, I didn't think of it. I just was going to doing what I was doing, which was always, you know, being angry and yelling about stuff. Yeah. Um, I know. I know. You've written several books. You have written 40 plays and You also have a mother. Your mother is a centenarian. Tell everybody how old she is. Well on September 8th She will be 103 103. Yeah, and your dad was 100 Father, my father passed at 101. Wow. That's unbelievable. What is it? What do you think it is that that they have such Longevity is the passion. No, I think the food that had preservatives. Yeah, probably really. And then they were preserved its the dumbest joke I've ever done, but it really works. Um and and it's true. It's true. Okay, uh, And does she still your mother still have her ways about her? Well, I mean, I call it It's like talking to a satellite. Sometimes she's here, and sometimes she's there. But, yeah, when she's even when she's there, But she was still really has is a really sharp intelligence and she's because even when she's there, and she's telling a story that is based somewhat on a kind of a reality. Um, that is based somewhat in reality. It kind of goes off. She has a through line, and she makes jokes. And when she says some really smart things, so it's you know it. She's the intelligence is still there. The You know the the the kind of, um the You know, the memory gets foggy, but then all the essential go then should nail something like you know, we were obviously Five days ago. And you know, she'll ask me 15 times where I live. I go New York and then and then in the midst of everything should go. How is that apartment on the sixth floor, which is like that? I mean, it's so it comes and it goes. It comes in the girls. Yeah. What is first of all, I don't think there are enough female comedians, and I just wondered if you had any thoughts about it. It's not easy being a comedian in in this day and age, but Why do you think there is such a handful of of well known female comedians prepared problem is, is that what it was was the Um, well, you know you you had to run around the country and be and you know, if you were lucky you could be in a hotel. But a lot of the times. You're in condos with two other guys with two guys. You know, it was not If you're a guy, it's fine. If you're a woman it becomes, you know, it can be really oppressive. And, uh, um, but the best one If anybody ever you know, my favorite is Kathleen Madigan, who was by far She's very funny. Yes, she works more than any other. I think she works more than any other, uh, female comic and works more than a lot of male comics. She's That's where she does that you're living. That's the way she works. And from the very beginning, she's just gotten the corn went. That's what I wanted to do and and put up with a lot of nonsense. From a lot of people and as a result, but it's a tough road to hoe, and I think that's I think that's part of it. Hopefully, with this kind of change in consciousness, you know that we hopefully are going through, but we'll believe it when I see it. Is it will make a difference. I'm hoping that would be nice. That would be nice when we look at when we look at the toady feels a name from the past. And Phyllis Diller and And Carol Burnett and one of my favorites, Lucille Ball, and, Yep, you know, um and I'm sure I'm leaving out too many others. But we'll make a left. Yes, o course of course, Genius. Brilliant, brilliant. Those those those those routines that they did. Were amazing in a brilliant actress, so it's like crazy. She's really quite something. And, uh um And there are a lot of really a lot of, uh then you get people that are really kind, you know, like Amy Poehler, and there's a bunch of women that are that, you know, they're They're not comics, but it really great comedians and great comic writers and producers who have kind of come along, you know. And and that is and that is where you you see that kind of energy going, I think. Yes, yes. Absolutely. Absolutely. List 50 people. Now if I had a memory, but that's been stolen. Wait a minute. What makes you think you're alone with that one? Uh, no. You can't capture that one. No, you really can't. Um So this is it If we were to say, what's your favorite thing that that you are, um, really comfortable doing? Is it writing Is it.

"Team USA and hoops We lost two night cheer eah. Mm uh, Wait. Mhm. What? We've got to do better. D a coming up next hour on the show. Quentin Richardson is going to join us. Cue rich. We'll talk NBA finals with him. As the Bucks get a massive victory last night, 1 21 100 finally get to feel good about themselves that the sons are unbeatable. They got wonderful performances out of the honest 40 and 10 for the second straight game. Only shock has ever done that in the NBA Finals. They got good performances, also to Chris Middleton, and some huge shots at it drew holiday. And don't overlook Bobby Portis because his pointed energy off the bench were important. And I think that from a son standpoint. They had really poor shooting from their guard, specifically Devin Booker. And the loss of Dario Sarich is going to have an effect on this series last night. You saw it when Yannis got a head of steam and then barreled down low and they could use port is also As a big downloaded, get some points of the paint. They gobble them up. And Sarich was a big the sons could use in that defensive category. And now he's gone because of the A C L tears. That's a big loss for the sons will see if it continues to translate to success for the Bucks in Game four Beyond But the Bucks absolutely had to have last night's game could down three. Oh, no NBA team has ever come back from that. They had to have last night's game and they really need game number four as well. The Bucks have to get Game four because Down 31 go into Phoenix is a recipe for disaster but to to become the best of three. And this is why I said when the Bucks had lost the first two games, everybody wanted to bury the bucks and look I'm not going to completely blame everybody on this because I am all the same ecosystem where in sports media, we react to something every day. And so what are you going to say? Every day about an NBA Finals or NBA postseason series if every game doesn't matter until an elimination game You have to react to it, but people go way overboard. About every single game, and so the first to the sons played so well that you are hearing people say Sweep. Gentlemen, sweep they're gonna get run out of the building, yada, yada, yada. And I just said That's not right. It's not right because the Bucks first of all didn't have a 100% bonus in Game one that was obviously was feeling himself out. Number two. Both holiday and Middleton had really poor games Holiday was a disaster in the first two games. And The Bucks were on the road about those games. So until we saw what the bucks could look like in three and four at home There was a reason for optimism. I said this after the first two games, the books had reason for optimism for a lot of ways a lot of reasons they did not play their best basketball. He wanted to come home in front of the home fans. Yanis in Game one was clearly in a feeling out process. And there's a lot of basketball to go and holiday. Middleton played like sea level games. So the Bucks got everything they needed last night again got to do it again. There are far aways from winning an NBA championship. But They put on to display last night where they could then feel confident. Okay, If we play our best basketball, we can beat these dudes. And I think people just assume that they couldn't The sons were too good. Too deep too. This too, that tonight This is a much more even match up. The people are given a credit for and the sons have been great all season long and that Chris Paul has been a wonderful story. Paul was just elite in the first two games. But that's not normally Chris Paul's game really putting up 35 or 40 points. That's not what he does so at some point that was going to come back to the meeting. And the mean and now The Bucks can say Okay, when we do this We can beat them. Now. We just have to do this and replicate that. But an important and very impressive win last night for the Milwaukee Bucks. The MLB season hits the All Star Break. Tonight is the Home Run Derby tomorrow is going to be the All Star Game home Run Derby tonight featuring Shohei Otani. That should be pretty cool. But the the weekend was defined by the Yankees and Astros, and there were some great finishes across baseball all day. Yesterday. Some walk off some comebacks. But there was nothing like the drama that unfolded in Houston over the weekend. The Astros and Yankees Just had this this kind of cat and mouse bickering. Old resentments bubbling to the surface fans back in the building. You know the Yankees word. The The victims, maybe most Damman and the Dodgers Of the Astros cheating scandal. And so the Altuve a hiding the buzzer conspiracy theory. Nobody wants to. He didn't want anybody to rip off his jersey comes back to light. You have multiple Yankee players, including Aaron Judge who always seems to say the right thing very kind of by the book. Aaron Judge. Acting like he's stopping somebody from pulling down his jersey as he rounds the bases after home run clearly talking, Jose Altuve, a And then saying it was it was just because it's kind of cold in this building, and then The Yankees giving guys coach to wear in the dugout. Making fun of that that is too cold. Multiple Yankee members acting like they're trying to pull off their jersey rounding the bases sticking it right in l two days..

Devin Booker Chris Middleton Jose Altuve Bobby Portis Chris Paul Dario Sarich Quentin Richardson Aaron Judge Sarich 35 Shohei Otani Yannis Yankees Paul Astros Milwaukee Bucks 100% Yanis Houston 40

"Brian Gable spoke yesterday as well before practice, he was asked about The running game itself in the philosophy of it, things like that, so I think that's going to be an interesting It's going to be really interesting to see how the bills do navigate through their run game struggles last year without trying to lose their fastball, as Sean McDermott said, and how great they were. In the passing game. Sal Carpaccio here with sneaky good and sneaky Jodi BOC We are filling in for show up in the bulldog. Is my Kevin nickname like it's Chris. The bulldog. Parker. Do you know if Mike has a nickname might show up? I don't know. I don't think Mike has. I don't think he has a nickname. Now I'm wondering if he ever has had a nickname. Right? I am, too. I This may be something we need to find out. We'll have to ask him. I don't I don't even Yeah, I've never heard one referenced like you'll even hear Well, no. You'll hear radios. The bulldog and I were like radios, Mike shop. We're here that sometimes in front of guys, but No, I don't know. All right, All right. Well, I wonder if does he have a Wikipedia page? Do you think Mike has a Wikipedia page? That might tell us Bulldog has a Wikipedia page I'm seeing now. He does. Yeah, but Mike does not. Oh, well, you know, you can create one. I don't wanna tell you that. But you know you could if you want. That's what that's right. I don't think I could create one for could do that I could create. I can make up a nickname for him. Yeah, That's right. You could do that, too. We are and we're not encouraging that from our listeners out there. We are encouraging you to call us though. At 80305 50. 8885 52 5 50. All right. So one of the cool things about having topics like this that we brought up or any other topic really is sometimes you, You get answers out of the box You're not thinking of because, like, I don't follow a lot of other sports like NASCAR, where Aaron wants to chime in. About an answer. He has to our topic of who is another sports. Ryan Fitzpatrick. Go ahead, Aaron. Yeah, I'm gonna go with NASCAR's Ricky Rod. So he's we raised for like 30 years. He's only got 23 wins total, but he holds the record for most years. In a row with the wind at 16, and he's beaten some pretty impressive guys. Tony Stewart Baylor there, Waltrip. So so 15 I'm sorry. I mean, I didn't interrupt there if he, um if he though, if he wins like that, so I'm looking at his page and again I am coming from an ignorant spot on this. I know who Ricky rut is. I was not familiar with his career like you are. It says he was named the 1977 Winston Cup series Rookie of the year. And he's also was named in 1998 1 of NASCAR's 50 greatest drivers ever. Doesn't that make him like not Ryan Fitzpatrick? Because he's considered so so good at the sport. Well, he might have been rookie of the year in 78, but he never want to raise until 83. So I mean, I got you. You're looking more at the team stuff and I get over the winning and I get it. I'm saying, though, I think it's hard like he also was named one of NASCAR's 50 greatest drivers and to me That kind of puts him. Is he in the NASCAR Hall of Fame? Okay? Not because of how great of a driver he was. You think it's that's more about popularity? I really do in his case. Gotcha. You know? Yes. It takes a lot to win a race. But okay, you know, it's pretty pretty amazing to have that span of 16 years in a row, and I just That makes sense. There wasn't anybody that didn't like him. No, I I get it. That makes sense. And you're right. And some of the things in fact, if you scroll down even more on his, um, on his Wikipedia page, what I found interesting was 906 races over 32 years. His best finish with second, as you said, never won a race. That's amazing. He only finished second one time, by the way, Aaron according to this He finished second night in some 1991 race. I don't know where or in some Oh, in the series. I'm sorry in the series. We never know. You never won in this series. He never finished first in the series. That's what it is. I like it though. 23 wins three and 24 top tens Now I'm back on the same page. Okay, now I got it. What You're saying? No, It's a good choice, Aaron. I like when people bring some of these, um You know, sports and athletes that I'm maybe not as familiar with, like I said, I know who Ricky run is. I'm unfamiliar with his career. But when I look and say in C, he was a rookie of the year name one of Nascar's 50 greatest drivers, And, as Erin said, that might have been more for popularity. To me. It kind of disqualifies them, just like it disqualifies Bartolo Colon because you want to sigh young. Joe. Someone tweeted into me, Matt Sundeen of the mate beliefs and I thought, Oh, that's a really good one. Then I went and looked and realized he's in the NHL Hall of Fame. That's tough. I think Sundeen might just be too a little bit too good of a player. Uh, right. I don't know if you saw this tweet, someone else tweeted in at us. I'm not a baseball guy, but Jamie Moyer. 35th Jamie Moore is a great 1 25 years, eight teams one All Star game Now he did win a World Series, but I don't know if we want to give him a pass on that for this because he was 45 with the Phillies when he did. Right? I don't know, did even really how much the pitcher pitched six innings in the entire playoffs. I think it comes close here. You know what's funny is if you want to go buy that you could say, Listen, McCoy, But LaShawn is like he's in the Hall of Fame conversation. He may never get in. But to me, he's too good for this. Ryan Fitzpatrick is never going to be in a Hall of Fame conversation. Shouldn't be. No, He won't be. He won't be sorry. There's no way I don't see There's any way that could happen. No, your, um we are not. We have not touched on a lot of individual sports, but there have been a lot of suggestions of people. Men or women who played individual sports, and Tim wants to chime in on that in North Tonawanda. Hi, Tim. Right, so first and foremost, huge fan. Thank you. Yeah. I was gonna say Rickie Fowler, Rickie Fowler. Uh from, you know, I come from a golf family and a lot of you know a lot of people like Ricky Fowler. But he's never really Want anything? Never won a major. He did come in Second three out of the four major is the one year and then since then, just hasn't done anything since then. Isn't he Also like even, um See, like, not even qualifying now because he hasn't been playing, so he has been playing well at all. I haven't. I've found a little golf this year. Not as much as I have white. Uh and I I do think there's some that he hasn't qualified, but I don't don't quote me on it. I I do like this answer. By the way, I do like this answer. By the way. I think he's been a forgotten guy on tour because of that, um, you know, I think, because even though he's still active like he's not up there, you don't think about him. But he is 32 years old already. Remember when Rickie Fowler was this young up and coming guy like as you're talking about? And, Oh, he's got this great future, but you're right..

"Friends and your neighbors. There's nothing wrong with the mayor of Indianapolis. Suggesting that people get vaccinated. As a matter of fact, you can argue that that's the job of ah of a public official now. Public official might see it differently. And so therefore like no, no, no, I I don't want to suggest this. I want to suggest something else. That's That's completely and totally fine, but there's nothing wrong. It was what it is. That Mayor hog set said here. Nothing at all. There is something wrong with saying with all due respect to elected officials, it's indisputable that in a health crisis, it's better to have the experts in charge. We have to be humble enough to admit we're not experts that we need to listen to experts and I hope the Indiana Legislature will respond accordingly. Tony Katz 93. W I. B C Good morning. That line is disqualifying he should resign today. Mayor, Hogg said, is not up to the task. And this line, as quoted by Eric Berman, the chief political correspondent. Here in 93. W I. B. I agree that this is true. It will have a positive impact on our on our city. That you put masks on people outdoors, so we're going to be spaced. It's so silly. And embarrassing and non science. It's not science. Let's go back to the statement from Joe Hodson. And by the way anyone on his team who wants to challenge me on this. I'm right here. You know, I would say, Let's talk to the mayor, but he doesn't talk. He doesn't talk about anything. He doesn't answer questions. You know the media has these media breakfast with him, and the mayor's office still demands that the media on Lee used Pencil and paper. You can't record The mayor. Maybe the mayor doesn't want to be on record about the 29 female homicide victims in 2021. Great work. "This franchise now two nights ago, which heard Chris Paul talking about was the overtime victory in Cleveland, But last night they did lose to the Atlanta Hawks so they fall to 47 19. They're six games left for the sons, even if they're only a two seed of the West. It's amazing accomplishment, because this has been one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the N B. A. And essentially, they're the West Coast Knicks. But nobody talks about it because they don't have the Lord and the market of the Knicks. But that's the type of thing it's been. There's basically three God awful, terribly run, dysfunctional franchises, the Knicks, the T wolves. The Sun's those the Big Three, and the Knicks have turned things around this year, but not to this extent. The tea will still happens. But the sons have been just incredible. Booker continues to light the world on fire. Chris Paul's been the perfect complement to settle things down as a leader, DeAndre eight, miss finally developing into the big man that they hoped for. This is a team that's legit. Good. They're gonna be really fun to watch the playoffs because it's fresh blood and any time Devon Booker's steps on the floor, they think I could drop 30 or 40. And so why not give the sun's a world In terms of believing in them in the NBA postseason. Here is Alejandro Avila to wave a former offensive lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers now He has become a member of the Baltimore Ravens and takes a little bit of a shot at Juju Smith Schuster, his old teammate, the mentality, you know when you have a balanced offense when you run the ball, it's obviously better for the offensive line. I'm a human is not his phone for the wide receivers. Because they're not getting all the catch Is that making the tick dogs and they're having fun of their social media? Running offense like he's got in Baltimore. Now not is fun for the wide receivers because they're on Tic Tac and their social media. Think teammates get a little sick of juju Smith, Schuster and other wide receivers. But right now, ju Jews kind of the front and center piece of of a generation of players that.

Remember that's cars with a K A good Sunday evening, it's 10 38, which entered the GOP traffics in all right. There is a crash on the Beltway on the outer loop just after a Maryland to 10 Indian head highway and it appears that is at the end of the local lanes just before low claims, and the three lanes merged back together again north of 2 10. So it looks like for now the end of local lanes are blocked as result of response to the crash. It does appear traffic is able to get by, but you have to kind of work your way into the through lanes there right before they merged together. There's a short spot where you can actually do that just do so very carefully can also ride the service road from 2 10. To rejoin the Beltway as well. So just be aware you have to some options but again, little confusing there just after 2 10 on the outer loop in the local lanes headed that way. "Thing, But it's a little too like 1000 additional two night, then state player here seven telephone rang. I think I'll pick it up. Hello. I'm gonna play that We're going to continue to play that just to get it into your head. So you can't get it out for the entire month. What do you What do you mean? You think it's not been there since the last time you did Celeste every day? Well, I mean, if you grew up in Chicago, there are classic shows we grew up with. But during those shows, we also experienced some really Classic commercials, memorable jingles and legendary pitchman that would rival any city in America. So tonight we picked some top spots of all time. And if you have a favorite, you want to share it. Via text or call us 312981 7200 times standing by 31 to 91 7200 and joining us. It's a legend really in his own mind here at WGN, and he was around for most of these commercials originally, when they played in the fifties through today. Yeah, and I thought to myself who has stored in his skull, fun but worthless information. Ladies and gentlemen, that would be Roger, Banish. Thank you, everybody. Thank you. Thank you. I have forgot more than I remember. I bet you have. I bet you have these commercials and people may think nowadays well, you know. Nighttime commercials. You know, you gotta support the programming at night. No. The majority of these ran all day long and every seven minutes on the weekend when you would watch the old film noir movies during the day on Channel nine, you know, big time. Oh, my gosh. Every seven minutes. You had these commercials on And so it like that last commercial, you just played it just sticks in your brain it does. You know there was something called the Chicago School of Television, and that's where really the world learned how to do and produce Local TV and radio programs but is mostly in television. They call the Chicago school, but it was the late 19 forties through the fifties and really the sixties. So the things that we saw Ding Dong school, allow the Children stuff local sports how the House sports was handled the bozos and stuff we grew up in with in Chicago that was all done on the fly. It was done cheap. A lot of it was improv. And and done off the seat of your pants, and it's very inexpensive, which is that we still do things. It's very inexpensive, you know, to get on the year and I think that's pretty Pretty critical, but The bulk of advertising budgets. Just throw this out. There sure was also always reserved for buying air time. So when you were actually producing the spots They were done just very cheaply like there was up. We're gonna play this Lynn Burton for certain who was a big, you know, auto sales guy in Chicago, but there was a rotating floor. It's still there. That'll be G M T V in the garage. There's there's I think videotapes and stuff on top of it now, But that's where they would shoot. They would put up a really nasty gold curtain and they would shoot live commercials during the movies. This is Lynn Burton. And just find my massive briefs here. Yeah. Lynn Burton for certain he was your TV Ford man. Bert Wyman Forward 26 years we had a smooth, very stead voice. Let's take a listen. Sorry. Little little burden.
