We've got police activity blocking the two left lanes and delays are beginning to build once you're beyond the activity the pace does improve, but again, that southbound three 95 near king street stay to the right to get by. On the capitol beltway in a Virginia travel lanes looking pretty good between Alexandria and Tyson's I 95 was running well from the Springfield interchange to point as far south as a quiet harbor. That way traffic looking pretty good between oxen hill and Bethesda, we did have earlier reports of a broken down on the inner loop just after route 50 that may have cleared the roadway by now, heading over to Glenn Mont northbound on Georgia avenue near Henderson avenue at last check all lanes were still blocked for the down pole there, expect to be under police direction. LA Teachers Union Wants 20 Percent Raise
"Oh, yes, I talked to you yesterday about two lane medical school right yes. That was done. What did I, oh, yes. Oh yeah, yes, today's headline in the Los Angeles Times. LA teachers union rallies for 20% raise and smaller classes. So let me say for the record, I have such contempt for the teachers union and most of its members. I hope they go on strike, and I hope people decide, finally, teachers are not in general their children's Friends. If that was not proven to you over the last two years, the odds are you will never conclude this. The amount of damage done to your child by teachers in the last two years clamoring to keep schools shut, remember the Chicago teachers union remember that how they refused to go into class, these hypochondriac, weaklings, cowards, ignoramuses, ignoramuses because they had they obviously didn't know that in Sweden teachers taught kids and nothing happened.

Pratt accounts for 5 TDs, Tulane tops UCF 45-28 to win AAC
"Tulane won the American athletic conference championship and a likely trip to the cotton bowl by booting out Central Florida 45 28 in the AAC title game. The green wave offense rolled over the night scanning 648 yards of total offense. Four of the 6 two lane touchdowns covered more than 40 yards, including three of Michael Pratt's four TD passes. That's huge. I believe the first conference championship. And we kind of set in stone after last season. We knew the goal at hand. Perhaps proof for 394 yards and ran for 48, including the game stealing touchdown, while Tasha spears rushed for 199. I'm Tom.

Traffic to weather on the 8th and when it breaks and Dave dildine in the WTO P traffic Senate falls church Tyson's Arlington interloop of the beltway after 66, the crashed vehicles are blocking two left lanes on the inner loop before the Tyson's exits. On 66 eastbound moving from false church toward Boston, it's slow eastbound on 66 with the crash response in the two lane stretch beyond fairfax drive in the exit for glee road, blocking the left lane of two. Westbound heavy at times from the beltway out to centerville, not so bad this afternoon, westbound on 66. But it's slow southbound in the George Washington Parkway from the CIA past one 23 into that work zone. And in Sterling, northbound on 28 from the toll road past 6 O 6, but the remains of the crash near Sterling boulevard are confined to a narrow left shoulder. That one's about to clear. Meanwhile, it's slow on the beltway for the big bridges and leaving Virginia into Maryland and on 95 southbound toward woodbridge. And through parts of Stafford county. In Maryland, on the outer loop, it is awfully slow from Silver Spring toward two 70. Any activity near three 55 and two 70 ought to be far enough over to the right side to be mostly on the shoulder, but still slow on the outer loop in Italy volume delays into Silver Spring. And college park and land over two 70, not a bad afternoon, 95 Baltimore Washington Parkway volume delays brief. 29 north of 40 near 70, the crash completely clear. Visit fits mall dot com to

"The WTO traffic center with Carlos Ramirez. Well, thanks, Ian. We'll start off on the inner loop of the beltway as you make your way past the exit for central avenue. You've got two left lanes blocked with the accident scene. You still got two lanes along the right hand side getting by, however, just be extra careful there. Outer loop of the beltway looks good. It up towards I 95 and over towards two 70. Relatively quiet on three 55, but you do have that usual work zone along the right hand side headed towards the beltway. Down in Virginia, 66 westbound headed past one 23 single lane gets you by there. Sounds like the ramps have some work on them as well. Sounds like you may still be able to access westbound 66 from one 23. You're just going to find an awful lot of cones there and you're going to have to maneuver all the way to the far left. You're going to stay in that far left lane as you continue past the fairfax county Parkway. Then if you're at an eastbound between 29 and 28, you also only have a single lane getting by along the left. I 95 and three 95 are quiet across the 14th street bridge, things look great. Sound found D.C. two 95, you're going to see brake lights after the on ramp for 6 95, headed past the suitland Parkway. You'll have a single lane getting by the work zone. It looks like the war zones northbound as well, only single lane gets by along the left near the suitland Parkway, but not seeing nearly as many delays. Out of the beltway looks good, hit it past Pennsylvania avenue and create it across the bay bridge tonight. You got two a traffic on the eastbound span to single lane gets by, neither direction, and remember no buffer lane in between. I 95 BW Parkway looking pretty good. Our delays in Virginia remain 95 going in the northbound direction trying to get up into and around the Prince William Parkway. First, as you approach the Prince William Parkway, it's the broken down tractor trailer stay right to get by. Two left lanes there closed. You'll see it's heavy beyond that. The original reason for the delay is the crash under the Prince William Parkway. That got moved over safely onto the left shoulder, still have authorities there beyond it. You are fine riding into Springfield. This is the only delay coming into woodbridge from Fredericksburg into Springfield. Nor three 95s looking good leaving the beltway, you will slow top end. It's heavy to cross the 14th. That way looks really good right now between Alexandria and mcclain, 66 does not. We are still very heavy and slow, making the trip from Gainesville east as you ride through what is the express lane preparation. Those two left lanes are blocked, three lanes to the right will get you by beyond 28 as you head toward the fairfax county Parkway. That is where your pace begins to improve the rest of the ride east, headed toward the beltway and then inside the beltway toward roslyn. Gum spring road remains closed in chantilly both ways between bull run and seater ridge boulevard you'll find yourself under police direction around a pretty serious sounding wreck. Now you will find in Maryland, the beltway is trying to let loose topside outer loop we're still heavy, New Hampshire to Georgia slow going into and through the big curve. There was a delay going south on mainline two 70, getting past old Georgetown road. And again, it's usually slow trying to exit onto three 55 south, where we've got that long-term work along the right side toward pook's hill. South on two 70 from Frederick, headed down into Rockville, you're looking good. Three 55 south at edmondston drive, crash cleanup had just the right lane getting by. One issue in the district right now, west found eastern avenue at olive street. There we've got a crash with debris. It's along the right side of the roadway. Better travel is coming to I 66. The left lanes on 66 between 28 and Gainesville will be closed till September 11th to prepare for the express lanes opening. Jack Taylor TOP traffic. And our forecast here with chuck bell. "Traffic jam remains, with two left lanes getting by the scene at climber drive. The traffic delays on the nearby routes though have eased back quite a bit now that we're later on into the evening and more folks have gotten to where they needed to go On route 50 between buoy and the bay bridge, there are no big issues. Usually around this time of the day, they hold eastbound traffic at sandy point. To discontinue two way operations on the westbound span, red light, green light. Baltimore, Washington Parkway, northbound, some heavy traffic between Riverdale green belts and Laurel, 95 works better. Bellway traffic still heavy on the interloop riding at a Silver Spring. And out of Virginia through mcclain toward the legion bridge, out of delays through Alexandria, three 95, 95, still slow southbound, your sterlington through Springfield, but slowest from lorton to woodbridge, route one, southbound, bottleneck by something in woodbridge near the or just before the aka Kwan river, 66 westbound crash near 50s, Claire, late delays at a centerville, only three lanes are going to be open near the manassas exits through the second week of September as construction really ramps up in the express lanes in Sterling, westbound on route 7 at Augusta drive, only one lane was getting by a crash response back in Montgomery county and Germantown, no lanes getting by the water main work. Thanks Ian so far, it's a pretty good year on your majors. I'll tell you where we're hearing about a little bit of a delay. It's on the westbound side of the bay bridge right now. They got to work zone blocking two left lanes on the westbound span. And it looks like it is in preparation for two way traffic on the westbound span. As of now a single right lane is all that's getting by and it's quite slow. Do be careful as you continue on the westbound side. If you're headed on central avenue, they do have a utility issue. Central avenue right by Reeva rode, they are alternating traffic, one single lane gets by at a time. In the district, D.C. two 95 looks pretty good. No issues on New York avenue, though I'm seeing a little bit of a crowded area along New York avenue and bladensburg road pretty usual around this time of night as folks had two and from echo stage in places out that way. If you're on a third street tunnel, no issues up towards New York avenue right now. If you're headed across the Potomac, not seeing any issues on any of your area bridges, key bridge, memorial bridge, Roosevelt, all look pretty good. Now she's on the 14th street bridge for that matter, either. If you're headed all along old dominion drive, a little slow there just pass curvy road on clear if that's a work zone or an accident scene, proceed with caution regardless. I'm excited about god's word to continue what it is that he's already been doing in your heart and in my heart and life. So why don't we pray and go to god's word together lord we thank you for this privilege that we have to know that you were speaking to us and that no matter where in the world we are right now we can hear your voice. So lord i pray that you would take this one little simple message and you were divided however many multiple thousands of different ways you need to so that every single person under the sound of my voice no matter what culture or or continent they may be on no matter what country lord i pray that every single one of us right now will know we have been in the presence of god in the mighty name of jesus i pray amen amen well for about ten years or so. Facebooks Australian News Blackout
"We're gonna stop me on the side of the world We've news or rather the lack of news on facebook in australia uses. There can no longer cheryl read news articles from australian or international publishers in a row over proposed legislation from the australian government. Alex hold my hand here. What is going on in two thousand eighteen. The australian government regulator lotion inquiry into impact. Face what we're having on competition particularly around advertising and they found that there was imbalance of power between tech firms and the media and they recommended a code of conduct. That was very long complicated. But essentially it meant that they were gonna get share advertising revenue. Or there's going to be some sort of deal struck between those platforms. Giggle went okay and started making deals news. Koa is probably the biggest one and facebook is just pulled all of the australian new sites off its platform as a sort of nuclear option and basically said well. We've done what you asked. What do you want to do now. And it's almost felt like an empty threat when threatened to do it last year. Now it's real ever all they really did mean and that's a surprise you know. Isn't it clearly just abandoning the best. I think the most interesting thing. It's the perfect storm with australia. Because there are big enough country that that it's significant around the world. Everyone's watching to see what comes out of this. But the people in the world understands what precisely and but they're still not in the top twenty countries a facebook users so business of apps article said that australia's population twenty four male. So even if everybody in australia was facebook using adult they would still only reached nineteenth place of most popular facebook countries regardless of the politics. Heavy steve it just isn't good. Pr for facebook is it. And then i must have made the decision that it doesn't matter that is bad. Pr but i mean for one thing but extensively refusing to pay nominal tax you know despite being one of the world's biggest companies and for another thing when the middle of pandemic and that turning off news to an aging demographic who using service. You might want to know where they vaccines are at. I think when the period of time where the hall of this kind of disinformation machinery during the presidential election the criticism of getting rather just pull out completely out of australia doesn't send a good message to uses. All united see news. App is trying to get factually promptly check journalists and now it just smacks The valley it signed by. Maybe perhaps google is by by playing ball a little bit more with the content providers. I think in this convenient this information east of you want facebook to be really kind of suppose could quality journalism given alex is essentially while we're different to google search engines because publishes willingly upload their content to us and so they volunteering the information to us and why should we pay them to provide them with the platform. But it's not really true. I mean don't you have to basically have your content on facebook. I three years ago. You definitely did. i think. Now it's a case of across all publishers. Most of publishers facebook traffic will come from users sharing their stories to their own pages so they won't come from the brand themselves and so the bruns choices to publish that story. But it's not to publish on facebook necessarily. It's the question of whether or not then. Publishers have benefited by having face because platform so so particularly in all the users all the users go to facebook and then they click through for news rather than going to a new site for news which is something that the entire news industry is desperately trying to change. Probably new york times to the front of that bbc and the daily mail been leading on that for a while so the question is should facebook pay when people prefer platform to a news homepage. And that's difficult. All depends on whether or not publishers need. Facebook more than facebook. Needs publishes and i do not know the answer to that question also opposed goes to the heart of the origins of the open web. Doesn't it steve. Because the whole point of the way that the world wide web was built walls you can always linked to something for free. You can refer someone to something for free. That's not the same as publishing. That's how wikipedia works that's how other sites that are the facts about this work. Some applies in the state. Okay off the bolted. But i think we'll be interested to find out if that kind of sliding mole Content makers these big platforms whether that does really benefit that does is it going to increase the goss. Subscriptions by being late to secure gle by having that league that click from facebook. Is it going gonna financially benefit the middle lousy probably fund that journalism but also like who's getting the money and that's the other thing isn't it. Do we say in the case of google. You're saying google play pool. I mean that's true. That was a threat. Basically from being wasn't disable we'll pay in that kind of seemed to them a little bit. But do you say great. Journalism is being properly funded by google. Because they're going to give some money to news corp every time you click the link or do you say oh sorry open web. It was nice while it lasted but actually turns out we promote it was going to get the money anyway. The idea of the open wipe is tricky in anyway because as increasingly more sites are finding out a subscription model is is a way to have more stable income rather than appetizing income. Once it got a discussion there is no right. Answer that both valid but when it comes to how you fund journalism which journalism you decide is worthy of funding is stuff that is well read worthy of funding or is it only meaningful investigations. Take six months and nobody reads. Is that the sort of stuff. You should be funding. And who draws the line and where is that line drawn about what is worthy journalism. And what is just stuff that you found out that you're writing about and both valid like says it takes sports. Journalism is that valid journalism. And should that be funded. Is that less or more worth than a quick story about somebody who's been defrauded. It's a difficult thing about whether you make that judgment. The same as every publications editor is the story. Worthy should be a newsweek story. Is a bbc stories at wherever story. How do you workout. How you fund those things if you're a third party platform but also another reason that it seems that google have stumped up now as an an onion australia but the presumption is this might roll out elsewhere as well obviously is that they're launching. Google news showcase which is a new product isn't it. I think you need to google news app to see in the uk. So i haven't have you and also as a publisher as an editor. Does he really did these. Things really actually make any different. I mean how many links referrals do you get from sites like that and apple news really. I'm going to speak very vaguely about the level of traffic. That person's gusty. I think is the price of talking to say. I would puglia shame. The news traffic is significant across globally. So that it's it's not an insignificant patriot figures when you talk about the level of loyalty brings the branding. That's more difficult question. And there are no clear answers on that but take facebook facebook as you start. It's news initiative so announced the already launched in the us but announces launching in the uk. The next few weeks of that that plans to pay news publishers to be partnered with facebook so that that type of model is beginning already and we know that. Facebook and google provide huge amounts of traffic to publishers across the world. The ones where there're affiliate content and have been around for a while so we know so flipboard poker apple news. Are they actually significant. There's a user. They don't seem to me to be at yes that Flipboard is still flipboard user. Bases shrunk over the recent years because of google's controversial push towards its an platforms above flip boat but they are still all big traffic drivers. And if you're looking full patriots all of those are valid and can drive millions of patriot. Each month i think so once you get into the real multinational website so much sites. It's less of a percentage for this sites that that could be a huge jump in traffic. That could be thirty. Forty percent and on the smaller sites steve. A you mentioned misinformation an arguably. Actually if you've got kind of legit sources adding revenue for placement on sites like google. It away you can be sure about the quality of the journalism but at the same time you end up with a which is why the web existed you end up with that. A two lane highway. Don't you wear the smaller players and never given the prominence of the big players and it's actually harder to combat. Political narrative will propaganda that way than it would be otherwise it yet. I i suppose that's why you need to look a look at these other platforms. That are kind of imagine like capacity people having the different compensations. What you might get some full sensitive information beth. I wonder if that to access journalism days is always going to exist in some full and the people he won't say will find it but that he wants incentivized Look beyond really manny while they were

Reproductive Justice & Women in the COVID Economy
"Monica. Thank you for being with us today. Thank you so much for having me really is honored to be on the show with you today and to being conversation about reproductive justice. So i tell us what brought you to doing reproductive. Justice work and tell us a little bit abou- calling in reproductive justice in some people call her reproductive freedom. What brings me to reproductive justice. You know To answer that question. I have to take myself back to my hometown of wingate north carolina which is in rural north carolina. Honor one of those small one. Stop light kind of towns off a two lane highway and growing up in the rural south is. It's beautiful in so many ways that also opened my eyes to a lot at a very young age growing up in my community. I went to a school where there was only abstinence only education so we were desperately trying to find ways to have conversations about our bodies and to to talk about the feelings in the urges that we were getting as we were growing into adolescence and there was no space to do that until we had to find those things on our own and to create community with each other in huddle up in spaces to try to get this information in that to me. Just didn't seem right but we were doing the best that we could in. You know the church black church was episode for me my community. It's where i learned how to organize. I learned the had a voice. I mean there's just so much to Organizing route that. I get to the black church right because it was just an important piece in my journey however it was also a space where you know. We couldn't talk about bodies. It was just not the conversation that people were trying to have but almost every young girl that was in my church in so many that were in my community outreach. That went to school with. They were having children before graduating high school. And i'm like it's obvious that we're doing it. It's obvious that you know he's a conversation that we need to have and we just weren't having them and you know i i left wingate. I went to an h. b. c. You and came out while i was in school and it was like another part of my journey of understanding my body consent intimacy all different things that come along with growing into a young adult and i still felt. There wasn't a lot of space to have these conversations and I was desperately seeking those spaces and just trying to put the pieces together for myself. And so i think it's the experiences on. Unfortunately i also dealt with sexual assault in my adolescence as well as these experiences just all came together. And i didn't know what the term was yet but i knew that these issues were important to me in. I wanted to find answers and solutions to help me into also help those folks in our community that cared about. And so when. I put that beside you know reproductive justice movement that was started by black women in nineteen ninety four. The world starts collide. Right so yeah wasserman. Twelve black women actually came together. Some of which are very active in the work today. Like loretta ross. And dr tony bond able may will thomas here in georgia. These black women came together to create a framework that was more expansive in when thinking about our reproductive lives in this country and they brought together social justice in reproductive health and rights to talk about the intersection of her lives of black women and to have an organizing frame that allowed us to really talk about the myriad of issues. Right that we deal with lear making our decisions about our reproductive lives and so this framework was developed in nineteen ninety four battles women in now it is led by women of color all across country. Today right where we are all fighting for the human rights to have the children that we want in the ways that we want to prevent pregnancies without shame and with dignity to be able to parent our children in healthy and safe environments rights. We we we can already see the intersections of our work in terms of you know making sure i were not being plagued by you know. Environmental issues are making our water. Unclean or police brutality and we think about the rising rates of maternal mortality in this country and ultimately nova's work is really about our human rights bodley autonomy to make our own decisions about our bodies therefore our lives and so that's what reproductive justice is. It's the work it's not political home. It's where i feel whole and complete and those experiences again of growing up. Is that country. Girl and unique county is what really brought me to this work. And i didn't know that there was a movement waiting for me but it was.
