S6 E9 - How to identify what you are passionate about

"This is the we served now. What podcast and if you're anything like me you've had a ton of questions after leaving the military and the lack of answers has left you frustrated and probably a little confused. This show is here to help you make sense of the craziness that is post military life so you can turn your post military life into your best life. Money was aaron perkins a. Us army combat veteran husband to a beautiful wife. Daddy to amazing kiddos and on this episode of the show. I want to talk to you about identifying your passion in life and how you do that. That's a big question. I think we all have even if we haven't put into so many words like how do identify my passion in life. It's like well aaron. Who are you to talk about identifying passion. Well number one. I've identified my own number two. I developed a process to do just that net processes called the nine line framework which i put into the book called resolve. That is just a step by step guide for you. The veteran to help you to rediscover purpose meaning and you guessed it. Passion in your post military life before i dive into the episode today. I want to take a few minutes until you a little story. I myself love stories. I love hearing them. And i love telling them and this story is really near and dear to my heart because it's about my son. His name is christopher and you may have heard me talk about him on the show before But this story. I've never actually shared on the show because actually just happened about a week or two ago and my son christopher almost twelve years old. he's a normal kid. Not a huge fan of school. Really good in school gets really good grades Does everything well is i. I don't know if i would say popular. But you know people like him he. He's just a normal kid. And he. And i we have this unique Father son relationship. I mean we joke around a lot. We have a very very similar Sense of humor. So we have memes that will share back and forth and that's actually across our entire family that we can laugh at together and everything but this story about his passion for video games. Now you might be thinking well yeah. He's eleven year old boy. eleven year. Old kid boy girl the one but he's eleven year old kid and he loves video games. Yeah what kid doesn't we're here's the thing. He is not just passionate about video games. He is passionate about tech in school and his technical classes studying python programming language. He studying java script and his his his little techy and he loves the technical aspect of it. Well there's this that he has for one of his platforms. And it's called beets saber. You may have heard of it. It's on playstation four for vr. And it's on oculus quest to In fact every year. we're pretty much every year. We get a family gift at christmas and this past year. The family gift that we all could use was the oculus quest to and that is a a virtual reality gaming system. That's fully wireless but the headset on. Hold the controllers and you could just play play games fun and while he has been absolutely just going nuts over this thing having so much fun with it. Well again. this game beats saber. You can create your own levels if you modify the game and there is no right or wrong i should. There is a right or wrong way to do it but there is no manual that you can look at and say okay. This is how you modify find the game. So he gets on discord. he's he finds Some experts who know about modifying the game he chats with him for hours. Some of some of them are as friends he's he's played games with everything and he's talking to them. Like how do i modify this game. What do i need to do. He figures out the programs. He needs to us figures out how to roll the game back to a previous edition. Now he knows how to launch the game with these modifications so he can play his own levels on the game. Keep in mind. This had nothing to do with school this nothing to do with any requirement. This was just something that he wanted to do something that he is naturally gifted at and naturally naturally passionate about and that is that's what that's one of the things i wanna point out here. Today is your passion in life is most likely going to be something that you are naturally geared toward you are naturally good at and maybe even it may even be something that you have spent a lot of time practicing and preparing at and you've spent a lot of time working on developing that skill. It could be anything from woodworking to the medical field to an to. I'm the the passion ideas for your life are virtually endless. But you heard me referenced. The nine line framework earlier. And as i look at this nine line framework. You know again. It's it's this step by step guide. It is the process that helps you rediscover passion in your life after the military. And i look at these these lines in here. These chapters and the storage is told about my son. I can see him in these chapters. I can see how his passion is coming out just in the things that he is naturally doing now in the last episode i mentioned and talked about quite a bit actually line four. Which is what is my personality type. you know. why does it matter. And it's not even so much. Why does it matter. But how does that. Impact me and my passion and my purpose for life. And so i'm going to touch on line for a little bit today but i want to give you some examples from line five later in the show about discovering that passion in your life but line four again i used sixteen personalities dot com. You can go there right now. You can take this free assessment to figure out to learn what your personality type is and again that is not the only tool you can use you. Can use myers briggs. You can use the disk assessment. There are so many tools you can use to figure out your personality because in the military unless you are you had a way different experience than i did. They really ask you. What your what your passion was or even more specifically. They didn't ask what your personality was. Just said hey here the jobs you can pick from pick a job do your job and then you go your military career and you get out and now you're here listening to this show and saying man. How do identify my passion in life. What is it that i am passionate about. How do i find that. Well you'll hear me say this more than once. Pick up a copy of the resolve book. That is really your first step to figuring out your passion and your purpose and your meaning in your life after the military but again light for just goes over. What is your personality type. It walks you through that process of discovering who you are and who you're meant to be and line five asks another question it says what do i have to offer. And that's very specific to you. What do you have to offer the world. Because i believe that. A life focused on making a difference in the world as a life worth living. I think that's really what we're all after is that we want to make a difference. Maybe it's just in our own personal lives. Maybe it's in the lives of our friends or family or our church or our school whatever it may be or or if your teacher may be your students you want to make that positive impact and so line five walks you through that process of figuring out what it is that you have to offer so coming up after the break. That's what i'm going to talk about. I'm gonna share some examples and walk you through blind five and sharing this for free and you can pick up a copy of the book on amazon or on kerr's to fight again dot com but i'm gonna share the the line five here with you and some examples that can help you figure out what it is you are passionate about in your life. That's after the break. Stay with us. Many americans today. Don't realize the stress and anxiety they feel is most likely because of their finances according to bankrate.com more than six out of ten people couldn't cover a one thousand dollar emergency seven out of ten. Don't budget regularly. An eight out of ten are living paycheck to paycheck to these describe you. Are you ready to live like others. Can't too many make the mistake of budgeting their lifestyle instead of budgeting their basic needs. I my friend. Marco over at mc business lab has a simple process to automate the basic things. You need to live and then never looking at one of those bills again. Head over to live like others can't dot com to get on the wait list for his own line course to learn this automation skill. That will significantly reduce your stress and anxiety. And if you think one on one attention could be the way for you. You can also schedule your free consultation with marco once again that's live like others can't dot com get on the path to your dream life today all right so as we go into these examples. I want you to have an open. Mind here right some of these examples. You may not even thought of. But i i want you to keep in mind that some of these may not apply to you. Some of the may apply to you perfectly but before we get into those examples and went to review. Read you this quote from a retired general martin. Dempsey actually had him on the show. A few seasons ago A great conversation. You can go check that out. He talks about you know continuing to provide leadership in your post military life again. If you don't know years he is the former or the lissi would number was of eighteenth chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and so again great guy. We had a great conversation. Should go check that out. But i want to read you a quote. He said sometimes we wait for thunderclaps drum rolls and clearly on calls to alert us to what's important when actually it's most often the subtle and persistent signals around us. That make the most difference. I want you to think about that for a minute when you think about your passion and life and what. You are naturally geared toward what are those subtle and persistent signals. So in in the book. I talk about the subtle and persistent signal. I got even as a child as a teenager. Really that writing is something i am. Naturally gifted at is something. I'm naturally good at in fact My mother found a poem that i had written She was cleaning. My room was teenagers. Don't ask me why she was cleaning my room and she didn't make me do it but i'm very grateful for her but she was cleaning my room and she comes into the room and she sees this poem that i wrote and when i get home from school she asked me about it. She says hair. Where did you copy this phone for. Almost didn't copy it. I wrote it. And i'm all of a sudden proud of myself because see my mother had always been this voracious reader with a strong command of the english language so hearing her say something like that. Which implied the poem was of this incredibly high quality right. It has stuck with me to this day. That aaron you you're naturally gifted at that and that the poetry. It wasn't anything i had to do. It was something i had in my head and maybe even my heart and just wrote it down. It was something. I felt naturally wrong to do. Just like my son was naturally drawn to develop this modification for this game and figure out all the additional software he needed and how to modify it and how to play the game afterward. I was actually drawn to writing so in that case even though my son and i we get along great and we have great father son relationship were way different as far as our passions. Go and that's okay. It's the thing is my. My writing skills are they. Were constantly improving through my life and the funny thing is even as i wrote the book wonder like am i the most qualified person to to write this book. Maybe maybe i am gifted at writing right. Maybe i am good at this. But am i the most qualified person and so why do i tell you this right. I tell you this. Because i want you to realize something that i'm still learning myself. The skills you have are probably around eighty percents better than you actually think. I want to say that again. The skills that you have are probably around eighty percent better than you actually think. Now what are get the eighty percent number. You know statistically they say what is seventy. Six percent of statistics are made up on the spot. I will say this. Evidence is more inaccessible and nature. But the things you are passionate about. You are geared toward learning more about it it just this natural thing. It's not something that you can really force. Can you learn things and learn more about Passions in your life. of course. you can't can you learn how to take care of the zales in your garden or in your new hangar. The year rose garden right. Is rose garden on. That makes sense but i looked at my window and saw zulia so i i mentioned it so it. Can you learn about that. Scher will you be passionate about it. Maybe you can develop a passion for it but passionate in your life is is this area of your life. That's built in. Its this natural part view. And so where do you go from here right. What are those examples that promised you a before we get into those examples. I want to share with you just a few questions that you can write down to ask yourself and you can kind of fill these out like to help you figure out where you go from here and figure out what it is you have to offer the world so the first question goes right along the lines of my story. I just told about not only about my son but about myself. I have always been good at blank. Fill in the blank there. What is it that you have always been good at something. That seems easy for you for me. It was english and grammar and for my son. Tech is easy for him. Technologies easy for him super easy a he is are basically our systems administrator at the house. he knows so much about For my daughter the things she is naturally good at and she finds easy music. She finds that incredibly easy from wife. She finds the medical field incredibly easy to pick up on. And it's not because it's not challenging to learn it's because we have a passion for those particular things in our lives. Here's a second question you can ask yourself. I don't know why. But i really just enjoy doing the following things and then list those things what things that you do really bring you joy for me. It's writing it's crafting something from nothing. It's looking at this blank page and putting words on it and impacting the world with a those words. And let's see what's the next one number three this. This is kind of long ones. All probably read it a couple of times. I never thought about what. I'm naturally good at and what i enjoy until what so for this question. Think of a time your life in which our knowledge or skills or ability was needed. Think of a time when you were able to use it and you suddenly realized that brought you joy so i to read that one again and explain that a little more. I never thought about what. I'm naturally good at and what i enjoy until this particular event in my life. I never thought about me being really good at writing until my mother when i was fourteen. Fifteen years old picked up that poland in my room and said hey this is really good. Where did you copy this from. I never thought about that. My son may not have ever thought about how good he is attack. Until i pointed it out and said dude that is amazing that you figure that out on your own you contact the experts in and you did everything needs to do on your own and so when you think we think of that like okay. I never thought about what i'm naturally good at. And what i enjoy until a particular event in your life and you think about when your knowledge or your skills or abilities were needed and and then you say okay. I was able to use it at that point in my life and then you suddenly realize man that made me feel really good. That brought me joy. That was dare. I say it fun and a lot of times. We as adults we. We tend to tend to think like well. You know i'm an adult. I don't need to have funding more. I shouldn't be having fun anymore. I'm more focused on business and and making money taking care of my family. Those are all great things but at the end of the day passion following that passion pursuing that passion your life a lot of times what it feels like is fun just a lot of fun number four thing. You can ask yourself. I was able to make a difference in a person's life by using one or more of my unique abilities which not only made a difference but it brought me joy as well and the question is list those skills or abilities that you use to impact someone's life or to make a difference in the world for me. They'll be writing for my son that might be tech my daughter that might be music for my wife that might be the medical field. So there's so many things that again virtually unlimited number of things where you can find passion in your life and it's those things that you are naturally geared toward they. Here's a few examples. I'm going to review these for you just to give you a sense of where you can find passion in your life and don't get caught up on the stories themselves. I want you to imagine yourself. What is it that you personally find your passionate about. Here's example number one. I was a cormon in the navy. And i learned a lot about helping others in times of medical crisis. I found so much joy. In this. I knew my job well and i knew i was making a difference. Pretty simple right pretty direct and so this person says hey. I knew what i was doing was making a difference. And i found joy in it. Here's another really good one along the video games. A video games idea. I love playing video games call of duty fortnight minecraft you name it. I get a sense of joy out of playing them and truth be told. I'm pretty good at it. My unique personality which i found in line for which i now understand. It equips me well as a teacher and so a combined those elements to start a video game players club in my community. We get together. We eat snacks. Play video games. Hold tournaments and get to know each other better. It's such a great time. And i love it. So being a woman in the navy versus playing video games way different right but still these people can find passion in these things see. Here's a here's another one very a very hands on example. I've never really enjoyed school or sitting in the classroom. But one thing i do enjoy working with my hands getting my hands dirty now that i know my unique personality type again that he learned in line for i understand more about wild like this type of work and why i tend to dislike sitting in the classroom. I love solving problems. I distinctly remember one time when my elderly neighbors toilet was leaking. She asked me. If i knew someone who could help and gladly volunteered myself. I checked out the situation figured out what. The problem was unseated. The toilet installed a new wax ring and reseeded the toilet. She was so grateful. And i had fixed a problem for her. I felt really good about myself. That's huge The the the What do you call it. The joy the inner joy that comes from making a positive difference in someone else's life is absolutely huge. Now here's here's the last example share with you because we're running up on time but this one. I really liked this one. Because i have a dog. I love my dog and a lot of you probably have pets as well but this one says. I am a pet whisper. Yes it may sound silly to some. But i have an incredible heart for dogs cats birds and just about any other animal who is suffering or quote unquote down on their luck. In fact i have adopted two dogs and two cats. I've them better lives. This has been so rewarding to me and it is a passion. I continue to pursue. See the thing is there is not one specific passion that we are all going to find fulfilling the passion in your life is going to be your own. Here's the last thing. I want to share with you how we are built as humans. We're designed to live our best life in the context of relationships with other people. I to say that again as humans. We're are designed to live our best lives in the context of relationships with other people. You know chances are we're not all going to be billionaires or a world famous politicians. Are you know billboard topping musicians but we can all make a difference when we find that passion in our lives. We all have a lot of questions but the most important question you can ask yourself is this have. I accepted the forgiveness of sins. That only comes through faith in jesus christ. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Hope it's been helpful for you and that you've learned at least a little bit about identifying that passion in your life again you can pick up a copy of the resolve book at courage to fight again dot com or on amazon and i will share those links in the show notes as i typically do. Leave us a review. I tunes at definitely helps so much. Of course follow social media kurds. Finding in dot com is our website. Thank you so much for listening. We will see you next time.

"Pandemic" Pet Adoption - Always Great No Matter When It Happens

"I was in a new apartment in a new city after just having broken up with a partner of ten years. I didn't leave my home. I had very little outside contact with anybody. Virtual or otherwise. I was all alone for the first time a very long time. I became even more introvert than i'd ever been before. Feeling sadness sorrow and kind of use on a daily basis. Let me just say that. I am inherently a cat person. But i was compelled to do everything the opposite way of. How about my life up until that point. The all quote. Nothing is working this way. So i'll do it the opposite and see what happens. It can't get much worse in quote. That was my line and my way of thinking at that time. We'll in october of two thousand eighteen. My precious cat when he had just passed away. It was very sad. And so i thought briefly about waiting on getting another pet altogether. Maybe i'll just wait. It was just so painful to imagine going through the worry and commitment. And plus i had just start to travel a little bit more but somehow i didn't dismiss it as the weeks went by. I saw an ad on pet finder dot com for a dog named frank and the ad it stayed that frank was quote body sensitive in quote in other words he was a biter. But guess what that did not deter me. As i read the ad i learnt that he had been in a few bad homes been rejected and returned to the shelter. But the ad also said that wants the bonding phase was established. He'd be a companion for life. I was intrigued as ended up. I wouldn't be all alone for the rest of my life. Like i thought i would. Happy ending for franken me for sure. But here's another pet story. That's just as cool on. Us news and world report. I found this doctor. Liz dare a family medicine. Physician in western massachusetts had wanted to adopt a dog but she hadn't quite found the right time to do it with work travel and other commitments. They're just never seemed to be a great time to adopt a pet and her two cats kept her company. Well enough with fewer knees dog. And isn't that the truth. But in mid-march the world changed when the coronavirus pandemic was declared overnight workplaces closed and like many other people. Liz began working from home. A lot offering visits with patients. Virtually from their homes. Having a dog would help stave off some of the isolation that accompanied the radical change and it is radical in lifestyle so many of us have had to cope with since the coronavirus pandemic began. She says i'm single. And i live by myself so it felt like a really right time for me. Well according to its july seventeenth twenty twenty covid nineteen impact report. The number of dogs and cat adoptions. Were actually down. Twenty seven percent when compared to the same time period a year ago. but foster's were up nine percent. Many states have seen a significant decline in the number of animals. Entering the shelters as volunteers observed stay at home orders but the increase and fosters suggests that more people are willing to take on sick or older pets that might otherwise not have found a safe home to call their own for any period of time because this is an ever changing situation and each shelter faces unique challenges adoption and fostering statistics will vary at any given time. It's so obvious. But there's no doubt that the response from community residents across the nation to support their local shelters by fostering vulnerable animals has been enormous and unprecedented. And isn't that the coolest thing well for liz. The rush to adopt meant. She had to be patient to find her pandemic pet orla name eventually. She connected with a shelter and connecticut right here where i am that brings dogs up from the southern united states. So that's how. She found sophie a two year. Old thirty pound terrier boxer mix. She's chestnut brown with white around her face and white paws and she's got spots running down her chest. She sounds adorable and she is and sweet and she's a very low key dog. I needed to find a dog. She says that was going to get along well with my two cats and as it turns out. Sophia's very good around the cats. Who are still a little freaked out by her. Well let me just tell. This story has a great ending to. She brought sophie home of month ago. They're still adjusting to the new routine. She's totally fallen in love with this dog. So after those two stories. My story about frank and liz's story about sophie. Do you even need to hear the bullet point benefits for adopting a pet. No well here. They are anyway well. They offer companionship. We know that this is important. If like myself you live alone before. I adopted frank who is a dachshund maltese mixed breed. I had no one to look forward to seeing no one to share my love with and no one that needed me and there is something to be said about the human to dog touch. That feels so good. Well provides a purpose to the sense of purpose. Everybody needs pet. Ownership is an important responsibility and one that can be a powerful antidote to depression and anxiety. There are more opportunities for exercise to well this time to walk. Frank during the lockdown played an important role in my wellbeing and his two dogs need to be walked and katz needs to be played with and there is no doubt that these activities with your pet is crucial to your physical wellbeing. as well. as there's getting dose of fresh air is important for both of you. Also it provides a reason to go outside smelled air and be alone with your thoughts. That's right. I said alone because when you're outside there's so much to see and you're using all your senses of very good thing and there's good medical news two that's right. Having a pet can reduce blood pressure the center for disease control and prevention the cdc reports that pet ownership can be a key to reducing stress cholesterol and triglycerides levels. All things that we need to do to be healthy and you know what there doesn't even have to be at pandemic for you to adopt a pet but you can't anyway. It's a good excuse if you need one. If you need a laugh live alone. Want to potentially meet other like-minded pet owners be more peaceful and happier and calmer. This is something to really consider. I know you know this. It's not only you but that furry pet that just may need you as much as you need them. Still a cat person. But i adore my frankie.

A Bird in the Hand

"Once there was a prince. He was the king and queen's child. They loved him with every ounce of there being. They tried not to vote on the prince too much as he got older and yet the time he had grown into a strong young man he also grown accustomed to getting every single thing. He asked for a fancy. Silk shirt. Taylor get over here and emerald encrusted ring jeweler. I have a job for you. A private seven course meal cokes. Listen up all you had to do was snap his fingers and voila whatever he wanted would appear and if anyone tried encouraging the prince to be kinder or more patient or more appreciative of what he already had. Don't try telling me how to live my life. Advice is for the birds. One morning the prince went wondering through the royal gardens as he looked around at the perfectly pruned trees bushes and flowers. The many fountains flowing with crystal clear water. He thought to himself. You know what this garden needs. Fruit trees just four me. Peach pear plums bananas. Everything all my favorites. That way. I can eat as much fruit as i walk everywhere. The prince was about to some the royal gardener to order her to plant a dozen more fruit trees when suddenly he heard singing. The prince turned his head. This way into that. that's funny. I hear somebody singing bird. I don't see anyone anywhere. I've got to find out. We are such beautiful. Music is coming from. The prince began dashing around the garden glancing high and low at last beside one of the flowing fountains. He came to a willow tree. It's droopy twisty branches. Were swaying in the breeze and perched on one of those branches was a little brown bird. Hello prince the prince did a double take. He'd never seen a bird who could speak before Did you really just talked to me. Did and before that you were singing i was the prince felt his heart skip a beat after all remember. He was used to getting everything he wanted and here. He was confronted by something super desirable. A bird that sang and talked without wasting a second. The prince reached out grabbed the bird. Oh and cupped it in his hand. Wow i already have two dogs. Four cats six horses eight rabbits. But you're going to be the coolest pet ever. You can talk to me when i'm bored and sing to me when i can't sleep. I'll have the royal blacksmith making a big cage and keep you right in my room. The bird shook her head come now prince. You're always getting new things new clothing new jewelry new toys and once. They're no longer new. You move onto something else. no. I don't the bird gave the prince knowing. Look while you're bound grow. Tired of me are singing. Talking bird seems pretty special right now. Give it a few days. I'll be old news. I tell you what though if you let me go. I'll give you something. You'll never grow tired of three things actually. The prince's is lit up three things like three wishes again. The bird shook her head. No prince wishes are no good without wisdom. That's why if you let me go. i'll give you three pieces of wisdom. The prince arched his eyebrows. Wisdom no offense but what kind of wisdom could possibly come from my bird brain bird. Pray you see what i did. They're very funny prints. But if you set me free. I give you my word. You can use this wisdom forever. The prince thought for a moment forever. All right. then give me your three pieces of wisdom bird. And i'll let you go free. The bird quivered with delight. You promise i promise. The bird straightened herself up. As best she could took a deep breath and looked prince right in the eye. "They everybody welcome back to the show. My name is matt. And i'm ben and we will introduce ourselves every single episode and you're gonna like it by the way this stuff they don't want you to know that's the show name. Hey man nice. You're a rare form today. Yeah yeah the had kind of a long long morning. Let's see long morning. What was going on just before we get to the actual show well You know. I have two dogs right. Yeah listeners. I have two dogs one of them well. I can't say it any other way. It pooped right next to my computer. This morning i'll man his buddy. No it wasn't buddy. It was penny The young one. She just doesn't know. I guess where her poop goes. I i thought. I thought i taught her but better next to the computer than on the computer. Yes if she was able to poop somehow on top of that huge power or perhaps inside of it we would have a serious issue eighty percent angry twenty percent impress though. Oh yeah oh man. It would be like eating the whole wheel of cheese right. Yeah hey does. I wanted to ask. You does penny dig. Is she a digger. She's a massive digger. Yeah okay she usually can't get too far down. I haven't discovered anything notorious. Ooh nefarious nefarious. Ornery tories i guess. For to be notorious. It does have to be known precisely. Sorry about that l. Thank wage the The reason i ask of course is because you know who else is really into digging ants. Ants yep And not that checklist avakian cult. We talked about. But i'm talking about every government in the world. Pretty much is I'm trying to say this well a pun but every government in the world I give up is digging deeper to underground military bases nothing. We're talking about today. Deep underground military base or du nbc. For those in. The know matt first question goes to you or these real absolutely. They're are real. Yes it's really difficult to prove a couple of things. Mostly how many of these things there are we. We can confirm right here on this show. Yes they are real and you probably know several of them. We're gonna talk about some of those then we're gonna get to the ones that maybe you don't know about yet and along the way we're also gonna respond to your request both on youtube facebook and twitter and probably a couple other things To look at some of the claims of snyder absolutely yes. I'm also going to pronounce adult. Say correctly yes and malki now. I can't decide if it's truly dual. Say sweet the spanish word sweet or dull. Say and i've heard both ramar listeners. And from what i can find. I'm not sure well people are writing into correctness will will contact to a local resident but then they might say i say both ways million so we know that military bases are Are very old concept of course but we also know that bunkers very old concept they predate most nation states in the world today Just because going back to win human beings were just trying to build. Permanent shelters and underground area makes a lotta sense. It's easy you fortify it. Temperatures or more controlled. They're absolutely and yeah. And especially if you get into a worse scenario and there are bombs being dropped on top of your head of the further you are into the ground the better at least in theory right. Yeah and now we still apply that same theory and now we know that after thousands of years of continual human civilization we have a world that is littered with basis. That have been abandoned or repurpose and in some cases of forgotten entirely and they say basis we should say underground structure. Sure

"Life's Lish whatever his name is married to Julianna. Yeah, that I think of her. Oh, he's the A strange husband who's no, definitely. They're getting divorced. They tried to get back together. He was on How men think radio show. Isn't it a lot of talk radio like, okay. He he he said Ah, he said, I growl the time and it's wonderful. And it's something I've really learned since the passing of my two ducks. Oh, that's just such a good dig. It's something not has nothing to do with my wife saying, Come here. Go away. Come here go away. It has to do with the passing of my two dogs. That's that's beautiful. That's he has messed with his heart. Well, you know what I think? You know, she really got screwed. She was another room woman who got screwed by Simon Cowl on America's Got talent. She wass impaired after year after year and Gabrielle Union got so you know, she sued NBC made a settlement, but she just got fired youto one your contract and the thing that she did. That Simon didn't like is she didn't adore him. And she also declined his offer of having an entanglement. You think that's it? I don't know that. That's a blind item that Holly could confirm that. I think that that is a confirmed blind item that that is a pretty much acknowledged. I didn't overtly asked her, but it is known on The set that he needs to have atleast one woman finding over him. How a 22 Year-Old Company Pivoted During COVID

"Meredith. Welcome to the show. Great lakes wrap very. So how are you doing during covid six months and i can't believe we're six months in. I was saying just six months ago. Oh probably over next month right right. Now we're doing good have left the house really We did mu so. That was a little bit stressful. But all good so tell us about. The salesforce is small and medium business trends report. Why do you do this. And what can we learn from it. Sure we'll be. We just have published our fourth edition of the smb transport where we surveyed twenty three hundred global smb leaders and we actually got a really unique experience this time around because we published one back in march and the pandemic hat. And we're like we got we got. We gotta redo this. We want to get before and after so we just did another survey in august so we have a really interesting perspective of kind of before. And after i wouldn't say after i say now we're not quite after yet right. I guess that's wishful thinking right But during i think you know we're we didn't publish it on salesforce dot com slash. Fm be trends but he wants to see the details but you touches on things like how the pandemic racial injustice have affected motivation. What challenges and gold are happening with. Smb leaders how demographics shape the entrepreneurial experience in the outlook You know the role of digital transformation and driving resiliency in small businesses and really how small business leaders are planning to recover and to grow from that. They're really seven insights that stood out to me the first and not surprising we asked what are the top areas of focus during co bit in back in august sixty. Four percent of our smb leaders said safety and sanitation policies. Like i'm thankful for that to too as consumer next was fifty. Nine percent of leader said local public health mandates contact with service a out of physical space. That's top of mind You know second because we have the before an effort after that. Continue to be challenges. That didn't really change Keeping up with demand Forty seven percent ranked it very high in march forty six said the same in in august providing quality products still challenge on still one of their top challenges. Smb leaders but what was new and what really became more difficult for these three things which was bringing innovative products to market. You see a lot of companies have done so much to the word pivot now is being overused. But you see you know that the stock company now making ppe Howard folks getting innovative in delivering services to homes right versus navy in person You've seen i've seen in san francisco restaurants pairing up with the wine shop and delivering date. Night meals But really getting creative on the market but another area that was personalized customer engagement. I think it's become more important To engage with your customers and that's it became more difficult. You know something. Many small business owners had it really thought about the personalization and then third was the connected experienced How do i stay connected during these times. The thirteen that came out to me. Was you know we we ask. Vod survey respondents. Are you a growing business or you. Can you know Growing meaning our or your revenues growing Those are are growing. Were actually much more likely to offer flexibility to things like payment policies return policy maybe giving extended payment terms instead of paying. You know in thirty days you can pay forty five days but this really highlighted the importance of prioritizing developing a relationship versus a one time transaction about all the time and i think even more so in the last six months has been loyalty right. Returning customers You know the more flexible you are with these customers. Warned loyalty recreate. You create an honest. That's your recurring revenue. Are you wanna find your recurring revenue. The fourth thing. That really came out before you go on. I just want to discuss a couple of elements. Because i don't wanna lose them very important threads. You talked about the personalization of the customer gauge being so important. And we've seen that for a long time. Ever since burger king said you know you can have it your way people want a personalized one on one experience but it really is becoming much more difficult because on one hand you have the personalized experience on the other hand. You have contactless delivery right. So what do you think. Some of the best ways are for small business owners to actually keep that personalized connection with their customers at time. When they're not supposed to be contact lists right. You know i get about knowing who your customer is. And this is where i think. Technology actually can play a huge part. It's a huge advantage to small businesses. There's technology out there. Of course we've got some. But i think there's lots of great companies it's not affordable and it's easy to use but a great crm tool which is customer relationship and a lot of opposites. Don't go searching for a crm. They're like how do i talk to my customers. How do i connect. This is about putting the customer in the center of everything you do. And you want to get off spreadsheet or off the piece of paper and you know you as the owner of the business may know mrs smith very well. She has two dogs. she likes to be. She likes the color red She lied roses but you may not know her as well. When that person carl's intimate make an order. Wouldn't it be great if all your employees knew everything about that. Customer data is about personalization when fact that together and share that data with your company right so we call it just force. We call it the three hundred sixty degree view of the customer. We wanna know their likes their preferences their orders. What business have they done with us. What have they done the past. So you really have that personalized Interaction no matter who they're talking to when they call you or when they email you. Or when nate tweet you get. We're seeing growing channels is also about the personalization and it sounds like channel so many channels out there now. We don't just walk into a store. We can't really walk into a store. So you gotta be listening everywhere and meeting your customer where they're out

Why Do Dogs Love Belly Rubs But Cats Don't?

"If you're enjoying some quality time with the dog or cat odds are that the option to rub their belly will at some point present itself and the results may be pleasant or unpleasant for both parties. But have you ever wondered about the psychological physical and even neurological underpinnings of this interaction? A. Belly Rub can be good for your dog on many levels not only does feel great but it mimics important socialization between dogs which are high touch creatures. Owen dogs play. They are definitely pause on and this means that they crave frequent physical interaction from the people who make up their pack. And aside from the behavioral boost belly, Rub can offer there is neurological component belly obsession two dogs have specific neurons in the brain that light up when their hair follicles are stimulated, and that provides a satisfying sensation during belly wraps. Plus giving that good boy A. Belly Rub is so psychologically soothing, but it can manifest physical benefits for the dog. Heading a dog tummy can lower his heart rate and blood pressure. This pet effect also shows up in people who may experience a reduction in blood pressure while petting a dog. And this affection connection with your pet is feel good drug when you and your furry beloved stare into each other's eyes during a belly rub you'll both experience a hefty spike in October in the same hormone that creates a love chemical feedback loop between mothers and their babies. So, how do you know whether a dog wants a belly rub dogs often make it really easy to tell. But that doesn't mean you should just dive into a vigorous tummy rub with great abandon check the dogs posture is it relaxed tongue lolling out accepting of had pats or Arabs start with the head and you'll discover that relaxed dogs will melt to the floor and rollover to give better access to their bellies if a dog anxious, which can manifest as a rapid and submissive flip to expose the belly and then it's not a good idea to give them a pet because this can reinforce the nervous feelings they are experiencing. and. Of course, while most breeds love a little bit of a massage on the Tummy, there will be dogs of any breed who just aren't comfortable with that kind of vulnerability and exposure, but the dog lead the way. And, this brings us to cats dog behavior can be a bit easier to code than cat behavior harshly because as some research shows, cats are only partially domesticated. Our relationships with our cats are often less of an owner pet thing and more of a mutually agreed partnership. And it's important to remember that they're not dogs in the wild cats do express affection through touch with other cats a for example, when they haven't seen each other in a while a behavior that you can observe if your cat winds around your legs when you get home. But touch among cats is perhaps less important for socialization among dogs. And plus the sensitive hair follicles on the feline stomach are easy to over stimulate. This may explain why cats sometimes appear to want to belly rub by exposing their belly but then unle- bite or rabbit kicked their back legs to stop the Rub. Cats are big predators in little bodies. If they roll over and show your their belly, they're not generally showing submission or the desire to have you touched their belly. It's actually a defensive position that gives them the ability to use all of their claws and teeth to protect themselves from predators. If you touch this delicate spot, even if they're feeling relaxed, it can trigger defensive moves. That said there are some cats who absolutely adore belly rubs. It tends to depend on how the cat has been socialized with people especially when it was young. You can encourage touch positive behavior and a cat by working with daily letting it come to you and direct you where it's okay to be touched and letting it walk away if it wants it rewarding friendly behavior, gentle pets, scratches, and treats.

They waited and waited. But David Powell never came out. Just after six am. And we decided that six police to canine officers would enter the woods and go in there and get POW. The remaining police were to maintain the perimeter. They wanted only a small amount of police officers to enter the woods to minimize the risk. They decided that no one else was to enter. They needed a set number of officers only. That way. If they saw any movement at all, they would know immediately, it was not a fellow officer. In other words, they were prepared to shoot on sight. The two dogs and six officers entered the woods with flak jackets and loaded shotguns. To armed security guards who shifts ended hours ago but decided to stay and assist the police in any way they could. Now. Decided, it was time to call it a night and let the police do their jobs. Guards Charles Howard. Gary Nelson. We're now near Travis high. When they spotted movement. The two guards with pistols drawn move slowly toward something they saw moving in the bushes. A man crouch down trying to conceal himself. At a distance of about three feet, one of the guards a stern voice instructed the man to come out. Before standing up. The man said, loudly, his voice shaking I'm not going to do anything. And he slowly emerged from the bushes. The guards handcuffed him and called the police.

"Avid so. Essentially, what you're seeing is right. You you. You can't do it every game. And and you know you have to pick your spots and it's tough. Sometimes, not do it every game if you're you're in a six game losing streak or noun and are played bad. You know you you. You Wanna You WanNa try but. Those things of. Changed much and I think I told you the one ball Harrison. Going to do. Well going down I ended up in the wrong long. And that's one of the best. What you also said to same goes for pre game speeches. You know that the idea that you can, you can somehow elevate your team. Maybe once in a while you've said, but you really can't go down that road that often because there ain't that many speeches to give and it's the same thing players will start yawning and kind of rolling their eyes if you if you tempt to do some kind of a gipper speech, every other game. While imagine now. If. You're a player with the same team safer five years and you got to seem coach for five years. In fact, I try to give you a motivating speech every game by the time five years. I mean. You're lucky if you could keep away right stocking, you're right you. You can't. You can't do that often and it's not just picking your spots. There are walks in our are made for those kind of talk through there are times, Rachel, talks, and that's when you have to do. It's not yet I'm on week from next week and we're playing see my. It's got to be something that makes you about wanted to talk to them. In in that vein of you, the coach of the manager and you WanNa, bring it up and those are things that I'll take if they do at the right time. In Ohio. Affected some guys that I've I've had some. Remember. What? Talking about those saints. A definitely asked to be. Infrequent very frequent, and and at the proper time you gotTa know your team to it to to the hotel. "An among the things that were reportedly discussed and one of the hold ups that the big ten is had here. One of the reasons why they didn't they didn't want to wait it out like some conferences have done. And said, let's just see how it goes. We can bring people back safely was availability of tests and for covid nineteen and the ability to turn those tests around quick. That's been one of two main themes over the last month on my the big ten stop, and apparently we're going to get a bunch of these new tests that are super good and super-quick and super reliable a lot of testing breakthroughs. Last couple of weeks we've talked to with big knocker and sounds like the president's offering them up to the big ten and saying, you can get some. We're GONNA decide where a lot of them go for the big ten Watson we can get them. then. Rumors were flying all over the place tweeting I'm here in. October eighth they're gonNA play games big. Ten's just GONNA start. They're gonNA bring everybody back and I think a lot of kids are coming back to the you hear this weekend. We're going to be able to start in a month and we're going to be able to just go on with this season. Thanksgiving is still on the table January stolen stable. It's all on the table. Who knows what's true but we don't know how much of that's true and you still have to convince in anything official out of the big ten office about a conversation be about any sort of change in direction a statement did come from the big ten White House, representative reach out to Kevin. "Right top five at five, I'm looking for a good one today I need one you need money ready for one. Yeah. Let's start with the Minnesota Vikings and start with the Riley. Ref- resolution, it was yesterday. In this space that we talked about Riley Reef was not at practice because the team had basically said, we're either going to renegotiate your contract because we've got to make room for our new defensive end. Yeah and you make too much money. We've got to fix this. So let's Or tomorrow we'll just let you go and you can go try to find a job somewhere else riley took the day apparently told some teammates he thought it was over I'm Outta here sounds like his agent May. That's where I think we've been betrayed. By whom by the insiders the I feel very betrayed I. as I said earlier in the show I was told. It's over. There's no chance you're GONNA put it back together. He's not going to say, yes, he's not wired that way. And they're all wrong I mean I'm sorry. They just weren't. You could say, well, he had a change of heart with all teammates that how do we know he told teammates that? We heard it from people who the alleged insiders how do we know Ryan? Heard it from the teammates? How do we know that? All I'm saying is it was I learned a lesson again yesterday and that is don't assume. On just what the Chock says, what the the the insiders say about him about what he's telling other people that until this kind of a complicated situation for reasons we're now getting. that he doesn't have that much time left really even if he doesn't want to stay, he probably doesn't have any place to go, which means it's not over until it's over that's what we learned from this. So I'm no longer going to necessarily accept the chalk about. Well, know there because I yesterday. I. Wanted to talk about the possibility that they might be able to put something together and I was mocked basically said, we'll don't bother you're wasting your time. You remind they know him they they. We know him. We know what he's like and we know what he's telling people. It's done what we learn again. Is it's not done sometimes even when we hear it's done or when people tell us that it's done, that's all I'm gonNA say he's a left tackle. So that's where he'll stay it appears Dakota dosier gear, bradberry, paddle fine, and Brian O'Neill who is GonNa move over the left tackle of we've decided to leave is back in his spot right tackle and has been guzzling rights veteran swing tackle Rashad Hill is also sticking around Oh good. This was nominated for preposterous statement tournament earlier today Dan Mike. Zimmer. Talking about Rashaad Hill in his potential impact Zimmer by the way earlier in the day when asked about Riley Reset He basically took the long play like you suggested going to now. So we'll see what happens today don't want to speculate don't want to assume anything, but then was asked about Reshad. Hill not super excited about percents improved an awful lot since he's been here I can just ten and five as because starting. You know we have a lot of confidence in Reshad you know he's a big strong guy that doesn't shopping and s protection. So Lineman, now have won loss record. That's I've never heard that before. That's why we brought it up. That's why it was suggested I bring to your attention. Overshot Hill ten and five, and as a highly placed source says the Vikings are twenty, eight, fourteen, one with ref- as a starter. By the way, he'll beat them on an old line win percentage six, fifty, seven to sixty one maybe they didn't need Riley goodness. Now you can't. Really. We'll can you argue with the head coach but then here's hi will are you telling me? He's going to be a starter no. Okay. Then that's to me. The end of is if it's all about his won loss record, why isn't he started? Shouldn't he be an automatic starter? Should there even be any debate? Fair question silly. It's a very fair question. Desperation is what it is. I that's that's the bottom line on it, but we still have no d. a lot about the neal. He did some stretching today and then went into the weight. Room. It's all we know it's a nice day would how about a Dalvand? Cook for Uh Alvin Kamara that's what I was bringing up where I was going next is there's rumors that. Alvin Kamara said I'm outta here you're paying everybody else but me including tastes in hill and I'm ready to go somewhere else. Nice player. He's a really good player. You. Do a lot of the same things. Running backs, who do you put? Who Do you? WHO's better? Well, let me answer this way. Verma. Let me find out this answer. How much time is Alvin Kamara missed. How many Games has he missed in this one disaster you no but that's we've been using that argument all all offseason on. Dalvin. Right. When it comes to contracts valve is healthy he should make fourteen, fifteen, million dollars a year. Just below. Black. But right up there with everybody else that got paid this off season including David Johnson. But the problem you run into what what's is Kamara also, he's he's on his last year of his contract I believe. Now, that I'm going to. Show you make the move, but don't you have the same at the end of the day don't you have the same problem unless you tell me that the vikings would be more willing to commit. Because our find a way to get the money because. COMORROS MISSED FEWER GAMES I've at show is I don't know how many games cameras missed. I doubt he's misses many as Dalvin He's an awfully good player. How what's his age? Twenty five years old I'm young. Yeah. Three time pro bowler. He's good Moser's college stats whereas whereas verse pro stance while just give you the numbers now. He's missed more games every season he's been in the NFL. So yes, started missing some games. Yeah. The let me give you the. Okay, he he played in all the games as a rookie candy seventeen missed one game in two thousand, eighteen in two games last year who? That tried to. Track, and he could also. If the trend continues, he misses three games next year. That's still you're still getting eight more games out of than you might Dallas. And they're also saying because of his production, he could theoretically command about the same type of money the Dow than probably. What was this production last year Daven I mean Kamara. Best your last year. Was it? No, he was better his rookie year I thought his rookie year he was unbelievable Average six yards rushing caught eighty one passes. Thirteen. touchdowns. Total I. Guess Fourteen because he also house to return. So that was probably his best year but he's still pretty good. Very good question I don't know it's interesting, but he's excused absence Alasdair. He's been out of practice, right? He's got show. He left people believe that that is contract release along. He'll stay out. We don't know at this point Alvin still showing up correct Alvin still there as far as we know okay and apparently guessing told us last Friday was heavily featured in the open scrimmage. And didn't get hurt. Because it intact I wouldn't heavily feature them in the scrimmage. All that does is remind him that he's going to be making what is it one, hundred, one and a half. Million this year and causes we making thirty eight million more than he. Now, twenty eight million anymore reminders of that. I'm guessing he knows rubs it in to go. You're okay. So you're continuing to just remind me that you've building this whole thing around me and you can't find a way to extend me. And you're giving the QB all the money, and now you're giving your new defensive and all the money or a decent chunk chunk of the mind, and me just sit here because I'm the good soldier. I? Who can be more easily taken advantage of apparently squeaky wheel gets the grease. Here's the tweet this morning from Dalvand. No at a very productive conversation with Kevin. Warren Commissioner of the Big Ten conference about immediately starting up big ten football would be good parentheses great for everyone players fans country on the one yard line that is from your president of the United States Donald Trump who apparently got Kevin Warren on the phone today and said, what can we do for you? How can we help you There's.

"Well. This would be our Thursday Friday Sunday Monday fifth day at the Great Minnesota get together if there was such a thing. But there isn't an already in the books. If we are at a customary great Minnesota get together, we'll be a visit. With an x gas two dogs course now is in charge, of Mon- decrease creases, traveling reptile show, and he is kind enough to join us as we try to bring a little bit of the. State. Fair ambiance to our audience as well. Two dogs how you hold up man. Or not so bad and you well, we're getting through it. I mean, it doesn't feel right to be talking with you on the phone as opposed to in person having wheel over all that all those those those big tubs you got generally filled with interesting creatures it's just It's we're still not accustomed to it. What's What's the covid nineteen winter of discontent been like for you? Well Luckily I live in a small town. So and they say, you know shelter in place in quarantine and don't be in large groups we're. Kinda like. What? God we already got you there. That's just life or you right One of those sides where you're gonNA live in a small town like, yeah we we can do that question. So. We assume I mean this has got to hurt your business hard right I mean how how wh-? What adjustments have you made wh how you're holding up all that kind of good. Things are good. I mean, what do you do you? Just you deal with it it's just the way life is I mean. Yeah. Absolutely have loved to have the fair 'cause that's our big moneymaker out. On pretty excited that I'll probably get to come to the fair next year, which is still a lot better than a lot of other people. Very good point what we See Guards yesterday. So we came in common affair for next year. See I'm trying to be optimistic and say by then it might be over forever a while that would probably be true if no, it's not going to be over forever certainly by two thousand, August two, thousand. Twenty. One. We'll have this under control and I guess you can't two dogs rule out the possibility that there's going to be another scorcher there might be this might be the start of many I hope not though it would be nice to have the human contact once again, right? I I would agree with you and I think I mean. Canceling the fair once, but they try to do it twice. There's GonNa be a lot of people that are gonNA like, no, no, no, no no. We're just GONNA go ahead and have it. You guys can say, no. This is our thing. We got the best in the country we're going to keep having the best friend country. So that's just my opinion. Have you been able to go anywhere I? Mean there any outings over the course of the last several months that depending on the state and depending on whatever the rules are depending on your own flexibility where you've been able to put something together It's pretty much shut down while. Also doing the work and no pay but. Animals still need to be taken care of and. That's what you do. The annals care do they they? They're not concerned about your problems are our problems the animal say we still need the the tender loving care that we're accustomed to. Always. Reminded Albert more than one I'll good he has. Like you know you should be at work today. One of your twelve days of work this year and you don't have to go. So described describe your compound compared to Monte's compound in his prime is it is identical is a different wh what what's it like for you now? Well. The compound is exactly the same because when we built this location, it's at my place. So basically I got Monte and they're up tiles as a package deal. The whole thing. As brother me. Take him fishing from time to time but he's not moving back in with me. He's yours now and where is your location? we're about thirty miles into Wisconsin between Baldwin and menominee. Okay and what happened to his maybe you answer this question last year I don't remember. But what happened to his compound in in Calif- So that plays Sarah, he rented for Gosh almost thirty years straight. Wow. So actually the we. Montes brother Brad and myself and a cousin we went out there and loaded up all his stuff and hauled it back here to Wisconsin and. The landlords or the nicest people you could imagine in the world and. Few days later, they ended up just good luck somebody neither to play while they're looking for a house and. They liked it so much there they decided to stay. Okay. Question has always been. Do we tell this person about Monte? The person that lived in this house before her? Might scare a few people away. I. Don't think you have to disclose the. Hey. Well that's what I was. Wondering I mean is it possible their stuff? Did you do a good job of of finding all the hiding places where Monte might have been? You know SORTA squirreling stuff away and who knows what mementos Still upset. We have not found a can of money hidden. And As we told the landlord like we don't even want it. We just WANNA find it. Yeah. It's gotTa be out there knowing him. I mean. Monte. Type person when he was going up to Canada doing those shows. Apparently. He'd have some book working problems from time to time and not all his money would be accounted for, but she was cleaning out old closet in the reptile trailer and there's an old pair of boots in there and he's like Oh. These are junked threw them out and lows and money came out. No Oh. That's convenient. Good now did you were you at all tempted? We would all tempted. To move to your whole operation to stay out, there was a party that was tempted to to relocate to cal Central California right. Yup Yeah, he's a halfway between La and Santana's go. It's absolutely. Out there and is location but I thought no I I. I like it here most people out there they just don't appreciate sunshine like you were talking about like that's normal for them. Yeah. Well, there is that there are people who say you get if you get nothing but so they say about one once Hollywood actor guy, you know he's lives in San Diego and you know the weather in San Diego's ridiculous and you say we'll then but do you ever do you really if you if you take it for granted because it's it's like that almost every day the end up, not really even appreciating it or looking back on it and say, well, I I'd say bought try for five years see what I think. That could be a bit of a bit of an issue animals. An injury update animals all hundred percent eighty percent Any big. From a year ago and and this give you any opportunity to rethink the whole bit and say, okay, we got this extra time here. Maybe we adhere subtract they're GONNA try a couple of different ideas. Give you a chance to sort of rethink the whole thing or do you say don't mess with something that's not broke. Of course, part of you is always thinking like, oh, we should add this or do this or whatnot, and we're GONNA. We always try to add whether it's just change out a couple of different animals or maybe advocate or whatever try to make something better whether it's for the viewing public car for the animal or for us working with it to make it better at the animal there's always something that you make your list every year of things you want to change and make it better. Whatnot but the problem is where stretching one year's worth of income over two years. So how much you can change has.

"In Gakugei perhaps. This was the way it was heading anyway once they looked at practice and maybe they said that's a lot of money and we think we've we even for lied ourselves. We think we can be just about as good without him and we can save a bunch of money if you're if that's your reasoning. Don't you for all the obvious reasons you do that a lot earlier in practice. Because then you give the other players who are all going to have to move around including your right tackle presumably to left tackle an opportunity to acclimate right and get more customers to even with the way practices have been here. It's late and there's not as many and we get all that stuff. You're still want as much repetition perhaps even more repetition. For that. For those very reasons I'm not sure I buy this was Always, going to be a possibility. No. Put this very smart to wait as long as they did if. It would have worked out the other way that Ref- would have gone someplace else and you're trying to mess around putting together an offensive line about to play a team with a defensive line that destroyed you in a couple of games last year especially in game two, not to mention, of course, the forty niners but we don't play the forty niners in the opener we play the Green Bay packers as well. So. Ref- redemption. is now I guess official and now we're not moving a bunch of chess pieces. Now, most things are we what do you mean? Just ask and I don't know there's some people who. Think reach should be guard. That's true. We've talked about that because we wanted to be the magical way out of the box go ahead and you say, you know what we started with O.`Neil. Let's let's go ahead move oneal over we. Might make it more challenging for him. But then we're real vulnerable at both guard spots right now and our centers coming off a mediocre season. Not to mention his sweat. So. WHY NOT HAVE REF- a lot of people think that's better position at this point in his career. Now I haven't heard anything that this is the way the vikings were thinking. You could make that argument even though you still if you move O.`Neil to left tackle, then you still are starting a guy with zero starts at right tackle correct right or somebody you have to find somebody on Rashad Hill now. Who can kind of do either in a pinch if you need to I mean the now rather not this actually kind of if theoretically allows you to have a little bit of depth somewhere. But yeah, it's the never ending saga of the Vikings Offensive Line. While they always make an interesting. No question about that. There's always something provocative always something intriguing. It just question is whether it will lead to greatness which were interested in greatness. speaking of greatness we'll chat with two dogs. "And it's see how crazy that we even lived in those years but we had basically a freak show, right Now. People that were getting money just to be themselves, which is really sad. But the way the the over and over there was a p. a announcement to come to entice people to come to this show and I heard it like one, hundred, thousand times a day. You know I'd shut my eyes at night idea the same thing over. Funded in the backyard. Yeah and I I would assume taken apart some of those rides that can't that's that's got to be tough on the back a little bit. That's heavy lifting isn't it? Wasn't so much. The physical worker was the characters. That were involved in in running and producing those. "I'm trying to figure out here that here. Here's how. DEF CON's work. Defcon one is the highest by the way we finally established that for the record. So you start. Here's DEFCON five. See if this describes the twins to you and their current condition. Exercise Term Fade out description lowest state of Readiness Readiness Normal Readiness. That's Defcon Five Zach describe the current condition of the two thousand twenty twins I don't think something. So defcon four exercise term. double-take. double-take. Description. Increased Intelligence Watch and strengthened security measures. Readiness. Above. Normal readiness. Does that. Describe I two thousand still in two thousand so No. DEFCON three. Exercise term. Roundhouse ole description. Increase in force readiness above that required for normal readiness. Readiness Factor Air Force ready to mobilize in fifteen minutes. I'll give you the other two. I think that describes US pretty well, right now defcon three, but we'll see maybe you think it should be defcon. DEFCON Exercise is fast pace description. Next step to nuclear war readiness armed forces ready to deploy, engage less than six hours and then defcon one the exercise term. Can you guess it? Do you not know you'll never guess it. Cocked pistol o, the old cocked pistol. Description. Nuclear War is imminent or has already begun. Readiness maximum immediate response I. Don't think we're defcon one now, but I think we might be too I. Think we're one step away from a nuclear war, I think we're three. Leaning towards to I would still go three because I looked at up. Looking at the sort of the wildcard situation because right now. We're not a first place team right and we're not a second-place team. That's true. World Wildcard Entrant Ninety, four, point, four percent chance of making the playoffs. There it is. So just gone down five percent in the last six games but by definition, can you be defcon two if that's still the percentage given I look The teams by I think actually the team. Remember the team that's got the other wildcard spot lower than us. There's one 'cause we're seven right now they're eight and I think the Tigers are nine right now. And the Tigers. Yeah. That's probably are aren't they at five, hundred, hundred, sixteen and six I think you're thinking of Toronto. In fifteen so they're I think they're the they're the eight sheet Zahren third place in the East right now. So they're right behind us. They're the eight seat and then so the Tigers. What's our record twenty and sixteen? So basically, we're only two games ahead of the Tigers a threat. By the way, we play a nine game series with starting on on the Friday. It's actually not nine, but I think it's five that's not good. It's. A double, we're make what are the days either Friday Saturday we've got a double header. That's right. That's serious goes into Monday. So IT'S A FIVE-GAME SAT With the Detroit Tigers. So that could be the showdown. Who who know, but it might be they I mean they're gunning for us at that point. So you think defcon two I'm closer to than three I'm closer to three then too because it can change. So quickly if tonight Pineda's brilliant. And we knockout Kaikal and we win six two, it'll it'll all look a lot better pretty quick but. It ain't four five even with the fancy record in the fact that it's hard to. It's hard to miss the playoffs this year if you don't get some stuff in gear here, pretty quickly than whatever juice you have about not just getting in but making a significant run I think will be used up all that I think a lot of that goodwill. Has Been used up already and we'll see how they respond tonight and then tomorrow as well. Marc Jacobs: I Still Have Stories to Tell

"Mental Health Awareness Week and last week on Bureau F. Live our editor at large Tim. Blanks spoke to the celebrated American designer. Marc Jacobs who touched on a variety of topics from working through the krona virus crisis and maintaining his creativity but also on how the crisis is impacting his own mental health at this time of anxiety and stress for people around the world. Here's Mark Jacobs inside fashion. Hi Tam I'm such a pleasure to see it today. It's always a pleasure to see you. Tim and this will be out conversation for the next few seasons. I guess because we want you seeing each other in well who knows who knows where I am. I am in New York City in my hotel room in Soho Talking to you you've seen in a hotel rooms for the whole luck. Yes yes yes has that been. It's been let's let's put it this way. I'm grateful to be in a place where I'm comfortable. I'm going to start under the start on the. I'm going to start this chat on a positive note. So what have to keep going back to my mind is that I am grateful. I have my two dogs with me. I have clean made bed that I made this morning. I have what I need. I've got a closet full of clothes that I can play with. Have got a couple of makeup bags that I can play with. I have my iphone and my ipad which connect to other people with and I have the where I can sit outside and get some air so I am very grateful that I'm comfortable today and I feel like I'm taking care of and obviously you confidently connect with people. I'm finding. I'm actually connecting with people more than I usually do because quoting about connecting with now. But I have well. It's a strange thing. Isn't it connection? Because I never really I think of this as a type of connection and I we can use these devices of hours to connect with people in some superficial way or in some way that's different but I'm a luddite and I believe in live contact. I believe in note writing letter writing. I believe in seeing people across the dinner table or having a coffee with them I see. I don't see I didn't grow up with life on the screen and I didn't grow up with cell phone in my hand at or or night at or nih-funded whatever and I like live performance in live theater and I liked. I like going into shops. I like seeing people on streets so while this is some form of connection. It certainly. I don't have any kind of real connection to this form of connection. So but how how? How does this thing for you then? Well it's a kind of a kind of goes in waves and spurts. I mean they're I'm very sort of manic depressive. In a way I mean I am you know. My mental health goes from mania to depression. So there are days where I just feel extremely depressed and feel like it's the end of the world. And then your days were mannequin. I just think what a great opportunity for us all to learn collectively from this and move forward and then there's all the grays in between but I mean I tend to go from the basement to attic in five seconds. You know like In terms of emotions and so it's been very hard because I also not really in control of how you feel. You know the ceilings common. It's just a question of how I kind of accept them and and sort of you know honor them etc. So so I've had moments of feeling very productive and creative and moments feeling just like what's it all sore or is that all there is as I keep saying the south. You Camilla Louder. You have exactly. Isn't it funny? How life comes along to trip up those kind of those little notions and give them a sort of real time white. Will you see it's this? It's this computer right here. That fascinates me the most. And that's what I think is always this kind of amazing thing. I have this kind of faulty computer. Which is my brain and it's not faulty in the sense that it doesn't work but it just kind of works as it does right and so. I mean for absolutely no apparent reason. I could do everything I did yesterday. And Go to sleep on time and wake up on time and have my vitamins draped might juices for some reason the Sun could be shining and I can have the most miserable attitude about life and see things through the darkest leads and then I could stay up all night and and and not drink juices not my vitamins and like the sun isn't shining and I'm just like full of hope and you know like so who knows and then yes they're like these songs that comes my head in these things. I've seen in these performances. I know I don't know like books I've read and you know I don't. I'm not in charge of where the where where my brain sort of fires on a particular day but like it just doesn't it and it's like kind of fascinating as kind of goes through all of its little find sub dreaming a lot more. I have some very weird dreams but I've always had weird dreams that I've always been a bit of an insomniac because apparently that's a that's a huge side effect of this pandemic. Is People a happen. Incredible Dreaming Nkala at a lot about real people like either family members will celebrities or whatever but that they remember the dreams full of almost movie. And that's by to pick this. That people can depend up in the daytime and then the minds slowed us. I don't think that I'm dreaming more than I was before. And I think my dreams are kind of still of the crazy surreal content that they always work which combines a little bit of like the tape recorder you know things I've just recently heard but then then concocted into something that might have some other greater meaning but No I find my dreaming kind of the same. I guess you're making a movie while you yeah so via via recommended. I mean she. She had this idea. Unfortunately it was like four weeks in she was like. Oh you should have taped yourself every day. Like just videotaped yourself every day like you had this like you know daily journal like on tape like everything you did just like this endless documentary journal and I was like well if I had started it for weeks ago. It would have been great because we're already for weeks in if feels that will have to do something else. So so nick My friend my best friend and and someone I work with very closely you know at. Marc Jacobs He he and I came up. And we decided we'd do more of a fairy tale like this this kind of life in quarantine more of an louise or a you know like or a home alone or something like that right played all the characters who would normally be here at the hotel but or not like what kind of well everything from the porter to the manager to the chef in the restaurant to the housekeeping to the engineer to the different people who are residing in the hotel to the different things. I do in my room on different occasion to me documenting my set like just just just like I never any element of the other look creeping in. No just just just anything. I can do within the confines of this hotel. Your instagram is being incredibly vivid. The whole time that you've seen in Lucca. It seals almost like you are testing out characters in well. I'm not really I'm I'm kind of just you know I've always been this way. This is like this is nine year old mark who you always was in his bedroom. Escaping chaos of what life looked like you know like a very disturbed and dysfunctional childhood. And I went to my room and I sat with my clothes and I painted my jeans or embroidered. Jean Jacket and I put on my outfits. I comb my hair one way or the other and you know maybe I found a curler for my mother curled by whatever it was but that nine year old kid that me was like a in his own world in his bedroom and had to use his imagination to create a world. That was a happier place. And that's kind of what I'm doing I mean. I have two months worth of clothes that I packed to move in here. I'm I have a couple of bags of of makeup. That randomly for some reason felt were important to take with me and And then you know just and the dogs and Some hairclips jewelry and I'm just playing around and and keeping myself entertained and and doing what I do which I think is taking care of my mental health. I mean I have to get up everyday and shower and I have to Rome and I have to get dressed and I I just feel like not only do I have to do it for my sanity but like I enjoy doing it. So it gives me pleasure and it allows me to kind of be of service in some way. Because if I'm not well. In taking care of myself creatively and in every other way then. I'm of no use to anybody else. I mean I just can't lie an unmade bed all day long. It's the most pressing thing I've I mean. I used to see my mother who suffered from manic depression. She wouldn't get out of her bed sometimes for weeks and her bed was never made and the site of an unmade bed to be as just about the most horrifying thing. I can remember.
