"I asked James Joseph was producing the show How much he missed me. Scale of 1 to 10. He gave me a 5.5. I'll take it James songs like that. Seven out of 10, my friend. I missed you, buddy. This is the James s fo experience that I needed back in my life. It's a beautiful thing, so I get all my music from Adam Sandler. What's it going to go? Actually, I saw the water boy like two days ago. I hadn't seen you in forever. I've seen it before. But my God, the water boys, just one of the funniest greatest sports movies ever that like what an absolute stone Cold Classic. Now you can pick Ah to people that you could hang out with you. You have three people you can hang out with, but you can only pick too The captain and see no farmer friend. Or Mama? Oh, the mamas out. I want Mama's the worst person. I know. I would rather die Brother belong Mama to make you some fried snake not didn't know I saw her make like small like crocodiles and throw those on the grill and they were like biting and snout off the crocodile, which I don't know if you could do that, but I'd tried if you can, but you could do anything in Louisiana comes to food about leave it. If you've got Louisiana recipes 855 to 1 to 47, but yeah, like no Mom is the worst character ever. Everything is the devil. He mama that much. She's uh what I mean, Here's the thing As a character. She's funny, but if I had to actually spend time with Mama Fromthe Waterboy point, there's no way like Captain and Saito could be fun Wrestlers in general, Any professional wrestler seems like a good hang It just seemed like lively, rowdy people. You know, I could get behind that. The farmer. Whatever his name is Scott friend, Farmer friends got the nipple ring is just spouting nonsense. That guy's going to give me like back alley hooch and I'm in for that. You know what I mean? I can understand them a lot of time. No, but it may be. The more I drink. The more I understand. Maybe maybe Not coach Klein hanging out Coach Klein. I could do that. I think you'd be OK. But he would be a guy that he had too many beers. He'd he'd start to get a little weepy. You know, I work here, but I've always thought you think when that, you know they got Mussburger and Phelps to do the game at the end. Yes. Yeah. Do you think Mussburger loves gambling so much that he made up a line on the feet game? Thie end of the water, Blanche. I would think so. It's good for the brand to do that, you know. I would put in a line if I was in. Why not? And they had to tell Brent like Brent. It's a fate game. There's no there are no lines in the food. We already know who's gonna win. Like the whole idea's Bobby showed up at halftime. That's the key logging. Well, yeah, but it adds something to it. But, you know, people are gambling on anyway. So why not like back then people Because it was gambling wasn't legal when the water boy came out because that one whether that movie come out like 2000 to 98. Yeah, Okay, came out a while ago. So when that movie came out, wasn't really legal outside of like Vegas, So yeah, kind of wink, and not a lot is kind of fun to just be like, you know, And here's the line on the C. L s u mud dogs because why none of the Bourbon Bowl in the Bourbon Bowl, which everybody? It's everybody's favorite football game. The Bourbon Bowl. There really should be a real Bourbon bowl. Just sounds cool. We could make one. Could we like engineer a Bourbon bowl? Could we like get a couple of high school teams to play each other in Louisiana and calls the real bowl games is here anyway. So so maybe we could work or like it Because here's the thing, James, we have a We have a national radio show on our hands here paying attention to this 10. Well, yeah, if their people are listening, anything, it's a show. But if we wanted to get this our year yes, if we legitimately said, like, Hey, let's get a game of like Pee wee football. Louisiana called the Bourbon. Can we make that happen? I think we could people would buy it. Yes, somebody would buy it. I watch it. Why not like we'll get we'll get celebrity coaches will figure it out. Okay, It's it's in the works. It's already on Sanders first coaching. Yeah, well, where's he at now? Wasn't Jackson's Jackson's Dany? How about Dion is a head coach. I didn't expect like he talked about being a college coach before and apparently because when it would happen that he got announced as being a head coach for a college team, I was, like, really Dion. I know he's a great player like Don't get me wrong, but being a great player to coach two totally different things. And then it was like, Oh, it's an offensive coordinator is Kids high school team? They won state championships a couple of times like, Wow. I mean, D L say this Dion as a college coach could be really fun like I'm really curious to see what he thinks is how like Snoop Dog fashions himself as a football coach. One of those things well, in a sense, he's going to the same swag, a snoop dog, but he's actually got the acumen like I mean, imagine you're an 18 year old kid, right? And Deon Sanders do most 2 18 year old kid's Know who Dion Sanders is. I would think so. But they know I'm from the television. They don't know him from. They know television Falcons in the ninth for sure, but he can walk in and he's got Super Bowl rings on his finger and all that kind of stuff. You don't know him from dumping, the champion on Tim McCarver said. No, I and you know, it's funny. I don't even know if I know him from that. But I don't think so. And I mean 30, so for whatever that's worth, But like I look at Dion if I was a high school kid, and Dion came to me and said, Look, Man, I was in the pros on the Hall of Famer. Here's my Super Bowl rings. I know what you've got, and you can win and like, here's how we're going to use. You gotta play for me. I think he could recruit some people. He's going to be more entertaining, more compelling than your typical college coach. So maybe Dion works like maybe it be fun. I hope he does just just to follow Dion. The coaches like it's a fun angle. Yeah, this is the whole idea of this is fun. Like it's the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Well, yeah, Ifyou're Jackson State. What? You have to lose nothing. Yeah. What's what is the last time I would love to? If we could just go through a log of the times that we've talked about Jackson State in the history of CBS Sports Radio? How many times is that? That school ever come on? None Exactly. Know now Dion gets, like, do his podcast on barstool until our bit of the game plan going to Saturday? Well, yeah, maybe he does. And you know what? It builds a good enough team. He could tell people how gag there wouldn't be. If you could tell people the game plan in a podcast. Do that exact game plan and still win games night get smoked, like 40 even told me he was going to If he's a good recruiter, I don't know. We'll see. I just I love the fact that he's in that game now and if he could figure it out, I mean, he could be great like having a coach with big time. Personality is fun like Jim Harbaugh in his own way, as much as he's like this really kooky khaki wearing whatever Like he's fun. It's I'm just curious to always be with Jim. Our balls doing if Deon could make it work, I hope you can. But anyway, let's let's get back to the main thing here, which was when you're looking at the NFL season, right cause we're one weekend and we're on the eve of we two. And the thing that I couldn't stop thinking about coming into today was just How much did week one actually matter? You know what I mean?.

US will ban WeChat and TikTok downloads on Sunday

"I want to get the latest on Tiktok from Java's in Washington. Amen Yeah this Commerce Department Action Andrew as you point out applies to both Tiktok and we chat. and. What they're doing is saying this will go into effect on September twentieth that is two days from now unless the president agrees to a deal that's been on the table pending among all these companies to get. American. Control over some of these assets, here's what's in the commerce. Department. These some of the actions that Commerce says they're going to take your on September. Twentieth if that doesn't happen, they're saying that this order would block the distribution and maintenance of these APPs in the United States, it would block mobile funds transactions within the United States on we chat itself it also current US users would be able to continue using the APP software software updates won't be available. So that's all from the Commerce Department. This morning is a lot. Of actions that they're taking just some of them and what this does Andrew I think is is really puts that muscle into that threat that the president said that by September, twenty th, there's no deal we're shutting these things down. This is the US government now using its legal authority to do exactly that on Sunday and the big question mark year is going to be. Over the weekend can there be some kind of resolution here. That's going to check all the political economic and technological boxes that have to be checked in order to make this thing happens back to you before you go I one real question which is as I've been looking through this this release and I. Don't know if you've had an opportunity to to to see what seems like a very strange discrepancy it says, as of September twentieth that would be the Sunday four we chat, and then it says, and as of November twelfth for Twenty Twenty Tiktok the following transactions are prohibited and it goes through a list. Does that mean that there's more negotiating time? Somehow on the table for dance and tectonics that sounds like what it implies based on the language that you just read Andrew. But I don't know why there would be a separate timeframe for tiktok on that point and believe me we're trying to get US officials talk to us about this right now to to explain exactly what's been done here. we know that they're going to explain this throughout the course of the day to day we'll. We'd like to do as all these companies are being impacted. Moment to moment right now is is talk to them and get us get them to explain it to us right now.

Barr asked prosecutors to explore charging Seattle mayor over protest zone

"From The New York Times put Seattle in the spotlight, Attorney General William Barr reportedly told federal prosecutors to consider charges against rioters. And tonight he's asking the Justice Department to explore possible criminal charges against Mayor Johnny Durkin for allowing the Capitol Hill occupied protest known as Chop to form. It's all part of a nationwide crackdown on protests. Violence comes Joe Moran alive tonight with the mayor's response and the legal implications, Joe Preston Durkin calls this effort just the latest abuse of power by the Trump administration. And some legal scholars agree. The lawlessness that descended on the Capitol Hill organized protest or chop may lead. The legal action by federal prosecutors for the New York Times says Attorney General William Barr singled out Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan is responsible for the violence that unfolded His own, where police steered clear. They're saying that the mayor may have violated criminal statutes, and it's very serious criminal statutes simply based on the discretionary decisions that she made where to deploy. The police went to pull them back Bar also once rioters charged with sedition trying to overthrow the government. It's a statute constitutional law professor Andy Segal calls archaic, but basically it is a junior versus city treason charge for her part, Dirk and accuses the Trump Administration of using the Justice Department for political purposes just weeks away from an election, saying It is particularly egregious to try to use a civil rights laws to investigate, intimidate or deter those that are fighting for civil rights in our country. Siegel doubts Durkin would ever be charged and sees this as a play for swing voters. I mean, I think it's mostly about the reelection, it's about how they're centering these protests and try in the election campaign and trying to make make it seem like the U. S. Is under attack. The mayor has a fuller statement that we've posted on Cuomo news dot com and she is expected to address the matter directly during a press availability tomorrow. Back to you All right, Joe. Thanks, And now there's this within the last couple of hours. U. S Attorney, Brian Moran released a statement about this New York Times report writing that he's had multiple conversations with Department of Justice leadership about protests in Seattle and the chops only said quote. At No time is anyone at the department communicated to me. The Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan, is was or should be the subject of a criminal investigation or should be charged. As you may recall, the chop zone evolved out of the protests that began in Seattle. Back in May, Protesters gathered on Capitol Hill for days. On June 1st police set up a barricade to protect the East Precinct. In a week later, the barricades were removed. That's what protesters took over six blocks of the neighborhood. Calling at the chop zone on June 22nd Mayor Durkin declared. It was time for people to go home and two days later. Some chop organizer's tweeted that the project was indeed over. On July 1st. The police moved in after Mayor Dirk and issued an executive order authorising police to clear the streets

As Fed Meets, It May Need to Consider Unusual Options During Pandemic

"The Federal Reserve begins its two day meeting today. It's a chance for chair Jerome Powell to give his assessment as to where things stand with our economy and with the Central Bank can do in the future. The menu of options is unusual. Let's focus on what's most important to understand with our chief economics correspondent Nick Tim Rose Good Morning Nick Good Morning Mark. So Nick, we've seen the Fed lower interest rates now to near zero is the Fed. Running out of tools the answer is yes and no. If you look at what they normally do to spur recovery, they certainly don't have the same conventional toolkit that they have in the past and that is to Cut Short term interest rates they've cut interest rates as you said to near zero. So what tools do they have? Well, what they did after after the two thousand eight financial crisis is they can purchase assets government Treasury securities, mortgage backed securities, which they're doing right now they do that to try to drive down long term interest rates. The long term interest rates are already very low. So they still do have tools they can use, but it's possible that there were just reaching a point of diminishing returns with those post-crisis tools. So with those options on the table already being used, what could the chair do or suggest to try to jump start the economy even further Well, the Fed Chair, and a lot of Fed officials have been outspoken about government spending. So called fiscal policy and the reason for that is once you've already lowered interest rates attend your treasury yield is sitting around point seven percent and so when it's that cheap for the US government to borrow. Spending is much more likely to have an impact in terms of boosting demand. The other reason the Fed is more outspoken than they have been in the past about the need for government spending is that the nature of the current downturn is different from the past. So an economics textbook might say that when a downturn hits the Central Bank can. Stabilize the economy by lowering interest rates. This offsets declines spending on demand, but there's research showing that this stabilization tool isn't as effective in boosting spending when certain sectors of the economy aren't able to operate, and it's in those circumstances where if you can boost spending in those sectors or at least replace lost income even if you can't get people to travel. or to spend money in restaurants, then there's a better chance that you're going to limit the kind of the vicious circle of business owners who can't pay rent means their landlords have less money to maintain their staffs. All of those things can lead to layoffs that really don't have anything to do with containing the threat from the virus. This leads to my next question because the Fed just announced they want to see somewhat higher inflation than in the past and that seems a bit strange. Why would you want this to happen? That's right. The Fed doesn't really desire more or higher inflation as a goal in and of itself. But what they're concerned about is that when when households and businesses expect inflation to be lower inflation expectations are an important and the Fed things very important role determining what inflation actually is. So if you look at economies in Europe and Japan which are stuck with lower interest rates, lower inflation and lower growth, it can be a very difficult. Cycle to break to get people expect prices to be higher when they can see that prices are going up and so this isn't so much about boosting inflation. It's about keeping expectations from falling into that trap where you're constantly fighting against this, you're swimming upstream against the current of ever lower inflation expectations, and so the Fed is trying to reset how participants in the economy expect growth to be in the future to influence their decisions now. Chief economics correspondent Nick Tim Rose in Washington. Nick. Thanks for breaking this down for us. Thanks for having me marked.

Industrial Production Points to Slowing Manufacturing Recovery

"Manufacturing takes the economic spotlight today. The Fed report's on August industrial production in the New York Fed has its regional manufacturing snapshot for this month. Both are expected to show improvement. But Jared Woodward at Bank of America Securities, says we need more than just an economic bounce back. Even if you see full on recovery from the pandemic that just gets us back to where we were at the end of 2019, which was still an environment of stagnation, low growth, low inflation. Also today, the Fed begins a two day policy meeting.

Travel to Oaxaca

"I'd like to welcome to the show Susan met Naski from Brooklyn, tropical E. dot com, and that's tropical with an I at the end but a put a link to that in the show notes Susan Welcome to the show. Thank you. Thank you so much for having and Susan. You're coming on the show to talk about one of my favorite places in Mexico. Of course, I haven't been every place Oaxaca. and. Why are you talking about Wocka? Well, it is also one of my favorite places. It's actually my favorite place because I now live here after I think my first trip was in two, thousand, fifteen and. I just kept coming back and back for months at a time, and then finally I had been traveling fulltime for awhile I'm a travel blogger and when I was just ready to settle down, this was the place that was at the very top of my list. Excellent. Well, and I understood after reaching out to Susan that she was a longtime listener, the show which is always fun to hear it is a big honor for me to be on this show when there was a time many years ago I wasn't able to really travel, and this was my constant source of inspiration. I cannot imagine a time not be able to travel except of course now but right. Excellent and why should someone go to Hakka? So I think that the thing about Oaxaca really. So special and is not often matched in other places is that it's so dynamic. There is such a depth and breadth of things to do and learn and taste and understand here. It's so easy to fill a week itinerary full of all these things and not just one type of thing but a huge variety of things. So there's incredible culture here. There's history. An Amazing Food and mess calcined beautiful nature artisan work. So there's really something for everyone and It's just such a dynamic place to learn over of everything excellent. What kind of Tannery or are you going to recommend for us where we're GONNA start so? Worked on this a lot of years there because as I say, there's so much to do and I actually hear over and over again that people come here they plan a long weekend trip and they pair it with Mexico City or the coast or other places in Mexico and. On their first or second day they're already planning a return trip because they realize immediately that there's just such a huge amount of things to do. It's such a beautiful place such a compelling place. So I've come up with a seven day itinerary that I think is really a nice balance of all these different aspects, the nature and the culture and history in the food and artisan work and I. think that's a great way to have your first trip to a Hakka to have a little bit of a balance of all the things and learn a little of everything and. WELL ROUNDED PERSPECTIVE OF OAXACA Going Day one. Well so I have this kind of divided by Oaxaca city and then day trips and I think that one way people go wrong is they don't necessarily know that the day trips and and the villages and the nature sites archaeological sites outside the city the number of things to do outside of the city is equal or more than within the city. So. I think that the best way to kind of approach your race to think of it more or less than a fifty fifty way that maybe you're going to be doing day trips about as many days as you will be just strictly inside the. So I I'd like to just kind of talk about stuff within the city and then later I can get into the day trips if that works for you works remain so. Has Been inhabited since eleven thousand BC. So it has an extremely long history a really in depth history, and that's part of why a lot of the places outside of the city are so important the pre Hispanic archaeological sites and villages that still hold to their traditions. But also the city itself is quite old and the modern day city started to be built in fifteen hundreds when the Spanish were here. So there's still lots of historical sites to see in the city that are important and also beautiful. One of the best places I think to start is south of the Mingo Church that is an ex convent that has now been converted to a church and a museum and a ethnical garden, and it's also just kind of a big meeting point in the city for tourists and for locals as well. It's great for people watch chain there's lots of street food outside. So it's a great place to start, and then the museum there is great. They have lots of great exhibits about the history and Culture Haka. Big. Museum. Not a big museum but. We're seeing and also is a great way to get a look inside at the architecture of this gorgeous ex convent and then the ethnic botanical garden that's on the grounds as well is really fantastic. It's required to take a guided tour. And I wouldn't say it's for everyone because if you it is to at least two hours and it's very in depth about plant life and history culture. And I love it and I think it's amazing. I'm taking up multiple times bill. Some of those plants are important to people because some of the local plants give us things like Miguel so. Exactly. So. But I definitely recommend it for most people. The thing I think is really special is they really go into the history of the most important plants and the cultural significance and you get to see things like the predecessor for Korn that was found here in the valley, and that is one of if not the most important ingredients in food items in all Mexico and a lot of the world, and so there's just a lot of amazing insights and things you can learn about plant life in this really biodiverse state if you're into that kind of thing.

"two days" Discussed on Blogging the Boys

"To all these podcast and everything you know. And you knew then that the cowboys had is for Taco Charlton. Either cowboys did not want. Tj What we knew that as much as we all tried to sort of convinced them that that was a bad idea. The Cowboys Really Really WanNa Talk Charlton. The whole world knew it. Now if you don't think the whole world knew that then you have to admit that the whole world and all the people on Mars all the people on Neptune and I forget is Pluto a planet. I know that it was on the fence. I know that there was debate at the very least but basically everybody in all the galaxies knew that the cowboys really really really wanted. Layton van direction two thousand eighteen. There was some some thought and some discussion from people online. That maybe they'd go derwin James but that fell more like a fantasy than anything so ultimately they drafted late in. It was what it was now last year again. No first-round pick so. It's obviously a very difficult to telegraph. What it's going to do in the second round because it's you know it's hard to predict the top forty or fifty pigs. Whatever the case may be But it was still very very very widely known that the cowboys were really interested interest in hill and again kind of like Derwin James the year before and kind of like T. J. Watt the year before that people tried to will something else into existence. A lot of people wanted Taylor rap. A lot of people wanted one thornhill but still the cowboys stuck with Tristan Hill. And you know. He was inactive more often than not last season so not exactly a great return on investment after year one. The names that are being thrown out. Now that's what I'm saying. It's worth paying attention to these names. Because that's it should be said that there has been a regime change you know and obviously there was on the coaching side of things but there has been a regime change in so. We're still trying to figure out the way Mike. Mccarthy and his draft process works as far as being the head coach of the Dallas cowboys but Kaleva Jason Lsu Edrich Edge rusher. That's a name to know C. J. Anderson cornerback out of the University of Florida. Probably not going to make it a seventeen overall but still a name to know. Aj Terrible quarterback Clinton on name to know Kenneth Murray Oklahoma linebacker a name to know these are the names that are being floated around and so you can kind of just put it together in one tiny little bag you know a bag of five or six names and kind of just reach your hand. In and depending on the circumstances depending on the way the I sixteen picks go assuming the cowboys don't trade back. It's probably going to be one of those names and all the names that have been kind of talked about and discussed and thrown out into the Kvant. Jason's probably my preferred pick personally. I just can't get C. J. Anderson. I don't think that you want to spend seventeen on. Aj terrel on Trayvon digs on Christian Fulton. I just you know I don't and you know if you're trading back that changes things certainly but you know a number of other directions. Kenneth Murray is a name that I think would cause a lot of panic for some guys fans at least according to twitter. But yeah so I just I don't. I don't see that as the best use of that resource and so if you can't get chased young but you can get clave on chase on the seventeenth round pick. You know that you can be happy about that. You know you can be pleased with that. You can feel like it was a draft. You know that you didn't hit out of the park at least in the immediate aftermath of it but you are responsible and that's sometimes really all the time in some sense is the most important thing but so pay attention to those names are also worth mentioning because we know the cowboys need to slot receiver. And there's a lot of names been connected to Devon Dover Neyla viscous Chenault etc but Jalen rigor who's a favorite of many from TCU. He was on the rap sheet and friends. Podcast ENWRAP report podcast of the show and he was asked Ian doing his homework. Kind of poking and prodding. Hey Jalen who are the teams? You've you've visited with the motion Jalen noted. He's he's talked a lot of teams. He's a highly sought after dude but the teams that Jaylen radio said he spoke to the most they Philadelphia Eagles which are forever according to our girls talking. Boys Co host mcmurray Philadelphia Eagles. The Las Vegas Writers who have basically every cowboys player that the cavs and the Dallas cowboys. That's right Jalen. Regular has spoken to The Dallas cowboys a lot. So pay attention to that because the cowboys need a slot receiver. I know there's talk about trading for one and others things floating around on twitter and whatnot but I pay attention because again there situations and there are situations but situations that befall the cowboys congenitally be somewhat telegraphed so pay attention to that also wanted to get into just a little bit here on Tuesdays episode. Joe McCoy New Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle was on the Dallas cowboys teams social channels and website. Did an interview with Shannon Gross. Shannon's great guy working for the cowboys website. And you know Joe McCoy we talked about. We played some clips a few weeks ago. Now I might have been a few months ago now. Time is kind of blended together but when he did an interview with. Espn's Marty Smith. We learned a little bit about him. Then but Joe McCoy against sat down with Shannon grows. You can watch the whole interview on the Cowboys Youtube Channel or are on their APP or their website. You know lots of ways for you to get back great content but Joe McCoy had a few things that I thought were interesting. First of all he said that the cowboys wanted to sign him last year. And when the Tampa Bay buccaneers not the Tampa Bay Tampa Bay buccaneers moved on from a Koi. There were a lot of you know you get that effect every time you know insert. Nfl veteran is released. Should the cowboys you know? That's the answer is generally no but in drill. Mccoy's case last year there were a lot of people are. We said let's go. Let's let's have the cowboys do this year. But Joe McCoy said that things couldn't work necessarily financially so he went and played for the Carolina Panthers but that he was pumped about it happening and kind of coming together here in two thousand twenty now. Joe McCoy spoke very highly of Mike McCarthy when he was on Marty Smith's podcast and again in talking to Shannon Gross. This exact quote more importantly man. I truly believe in coach McCarthy and what his plans I believe in my teammates and the opportunity I have to win. I'm coming down the final stretch of my career and haven't had the opportunity to make the playoffs. I believe that this team is the one that can really make some noise this year. Kind of a kind of an April sounding answer right. You know some some positivity in their spin going on there but it is worth mentioning that Joe McCoy has been in the NFL for a long time. And it's never made the playoffs. That's the Tampa Bay buccaneers affect So he still obviously got a lot left and he believes that he can offer to the cowboys. They can do some special things together now. Shannon asked McCoy if he knew any cowboys players prior to joining the team. Have you had any sort of past relationships with them? In Gerald said that he did know demarcus Lawrence surprised joining the cowboys. Here's what he said. The one person I had a relationship with was demarcus Lawrence. We met at the pro bowl. We stayed in contact. Obviously all the fans know how dominant a player he is and we had such a good time with the pro bowl. When I realized I had an opportunity to play for Dallas I reached out to him and he was really excited. And then once we confirmed they may have official. We got really excited. So we've been in touch in contact. I don't know if you guys know. I don't know how much he's posted letting you guys know. But he's grinding. He's really putting the work to have a big year. I'm excited about that. That's pretty cool. Shot Joe McCoy for letting US IN DEMOCRACY IS OFF SEASON PRACTICES AND WHATNOT. But the perhaps most interesting thing about Joe McCoy's interview with the cowboys website and he talked about his his Vegan Diet and stuff and his interview with Marty Smith but he noted that he has lost twenty pounds since the two thousand nine hundred and season ended. He talked about how he went on a ten day. Detox literally the day after the season ended with the Carolina Panthers and he lost twenty pounds and kind of just kept it up and then he noted that he's spoken to Bruce Smith. Michael Strahan Tony Gonzalez. Nfl Greats. Who later in their careers? Kind of slimmed down and he you know he talked about how he felt okay last year but that he felt heavy and he felt not the way he wanted to and wasn't moving exactly how he wanted to and he attributed to being too heavy so he wanted to slim down and he's lost twenty pounds. He said he's at two ninety five At least at the time of this interview and that hasn't been to ninety five cents his rookie year. So it's it's been a minute for drama Koi but pretty cool I wrote about this. You can check it out if yourself a blog on the boys DOT COM and again. There's an episode of the seven five. Oh coming your way later today on Tuesday and just episodes Galore again. If you're new around here thank you for joining us. Thank you for trusting us. We know that there are a lot of options. A lot of great options out there for Dallas cowboys content. And we appreciate you making us part of your rotation so. Let's have some fun this week. I'm feeling it. I'm feeling pretty good. It's going to be a fun. Fun Fun Week. I with the draft coming up so do me a favor. Have the absolute best Tuesday of all time. You know why because you deserve it. We see them in the. Outta my friends as always go cowboys and peace APP..

I know we have some people all over the United States of America and all over the world and speaking of our world. We hope that you are happy. Safe healthy practicing social distancing as these have been some some turbulent and some stressful times for our world but it is the week of the NFL draft and thankfully we have some some really interesting and fun stuff to talk about it in a big time puzzle to put together and hopefully we can have some fun doing that and doing it together. This week So again huge. Hello welcome aboard to all of our new subscribers and if you've been here for the whole ride well hey we love you just as much but anyway moving on with today's episode of the Ocho. Monday was kind of A. I WANNA say like a boring day or a day. But it's the week of the draft and so it's unless you're Yonathan Gateway and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Monday was a relatively chill day. It was the day that general managers and important personnel did their mock draft. Because the two thousand twenty. Nfl draft is going to happen. Virtually and there were apparently all sorts of snafus some bandwidth errors. I bet the EH. The speed test APP was was probably getting its fair share of exercise across across the Great United States. And so I mean look. There are a lot of people who have pointed out the logistics of the draft happening in a virtual sense in how difficult it's going to be. I am not an IT technician. I am not a genius in that department so I don't know how impossible is going to be but I know that when I watched the draft when I have my setup I've got I've got my computer I've got another computer in an external under I two TVs. I've got a lot going on but I'm not a general manager and so I have to imagine it's going to be very difficult and ESPN's. Dan had a tweet about one. General Manager apparently got kicked off of his Internet because his children were playing games on their IPAD. Kind kind of reminiscent of like when you're depending on your age now but when you were like fifteen right and You know somebody in your house like you know jumped on something and you were playing like an xbox game or something and it just kicked you out. That was terrible. That was that was pretty awful. And you know like the early days of Netflix. You know you'd get you'd buffering. You'd have those blurry scenes because somebody in your family was also trying to stream something so You know it is what it is no big deal. It's not like billions of dollars at stake when it comes to the NFL draft but anyway. So we'll see how that goes but when it comes to the cowboys obviously in the NFL draft and everybody's really focused on their first round draft seventeenth overall selection. There are so many people who don't even want to see them draft somebody. There's a huge group of people that are just start. What bump that. I don't need whoever it's going to be trade that piece for Jamal Adams. Let's go get him. I know that the girls talked Jamal Adams with Brian brought us on growth talk and boys. Gt Be Nation. But I don't think it's going to happen as as as much as I hate to say it. I will be fun. I know I kind of made the case myself on Monday but it just it feels like it's not going to happen and it should be. It should be said that this week in particular. It's so difficult to trust anything here and I don't want to say just ignore everything until the draft is over but this is the week where everybody is keeping their cards close to the vest and they normally do right. You just can't let even an inch of Information League Al. Because you've come this far you've got that's come so far. We've got so long to go. I think that's a line from hairspray. But anyway they've they've come this far and they are very very very close and so every. Nfl team kind of chill but jets general manager. Joe Douglas on Monday did say look. We want Jamal to be around. We wanted to be around for the future the jets etc J two. Yes I get it. I get it Joe. I get you like Jamal but you know what Jamal. He's got the Tattoo. We all saw the tattoo. He's from Dallas. We all know it. Let it happen. Let it be courting another great song right. Just let it happen. Although I don't think it will happen ultimately but you know hey you never know until that seventeenth overall pick has been spent just never know On Jamal Adams though it is worth mentioning that the QB's our brea wrote this on Monday. Quoting him exactly. Go CHECK IT OUT. The QB word last fall was that while he was annoyed with his name being connected to trade rumors he warmed considerably to the idea of going home to douse. Oh Yeah it's getting hot in here chat. Nellie warmed considerably also worth mentioning the NFL. Networks chain slater friend of the show. We were having some fun on the blog and the boys twitter and she responded saying you know just kind of felt doubtful and she felt bad about raining on the parade but that she thought that Jamal Adams would fit with the cowboys and if Jane said it let it let it happen. I mean look at this point. It has to happen right. I mean it's we've talked about it enough. We've thought about it enough. Do you know how many people have spent time on edits? Jamal Adams and a cowboys uniform are in. Do you really want all that to be in vain. Newark jets jumped on a podcast with the prime sports network on Monday and the hosts that I was interviewed by is a jets fan and Kinda talked about. How if the jets lead Jamal? Adams go for the seventeenth overall. Pick and that alone that there will be some vitriol coming his way from from the jets fans all twelve of them. But that's what I'm saying. It's just it seems unlikely. So as fun as it would be an hyped. We would all get about it. Let's let's start tempering expectations. Because I think we're going to have to. I think we're we're we don't Thursday could be a little bit more dramatic than it already but that's kind of what the NFL draft is. All about right. I mean having fine shaking things up and trying to get weird at least that's that's how. Nfl offices in general managers and personnel trying to handle. They're trying to you. Know not handle it actually. Nobody wants to be weird. Everybody wants to be boring. Get the players they want. Get in get out. And whatever every team started when the super bowl no big deal but there were some of the things that popped up on Monday ass and things of note and again we are now you know depending on when you listen to this about forty eight hours away from the two thousand twenty nfl draft and that means we've got an exciting. Oh Yeah it is getting hot in here. That's right. There are some names that are being connected to the cowboys. Some that you need to know because when it comes to the cowboys you know they're they're pick has generally been pretty telegraphed so when it comes to the cowboys look right now. You're hearing all sorts of stuff right so and so likes this player. So and so that player they really you know the Atlanta Falcons Really WanNA trade into the top five. And it's so hard to trust anything I get that I understand that. That's typically the way the NFL draft goes in this. Isn't you know a lock? Lock it in. Throw away the key type thing but it is very much worth noting that generally the last half decade the cowboys have had their first overall pick first overall the number one pick in the draft but their first draft selection and not even a first rounder because last year they didn't have one but the first pick the cowboys have made is generally very telegraph and has been for some time. This is something we've discussed for a while now but if you look back two thousand sixteen. I'm not going to Supremely Telegraph. Just because if you've got the fourth overall pick it's pretty. It's pretty easy to figure out what you're going to do you. Can you know generally the first kind of seventy eight pigs? Barring some sort of wild card or whatever can be telegraphed overall. There's obviously kind of swing point every NFL draft. You can always kind of figure out the first you know two or three picks and then it gets. You know you're GONNA have a team go one direction last year. Was Cleveland Pharrell. They're they're sort of. You know there are circumstances like that. I think this year the Detroit lions or one of those pivot points but so two thousand sixteen. A lot of people knew. Obviously that it was down to Zeke Elliot and Jalen Ramsey for the cowboys not gonNA hold that against him two thousand seventeen. If you've been around cowboys twitter you've been reading the boys DOT com. You've been listening.

"My Dad's subscribes you should subscribe You get access to all of our shows we have so many podcasts available for you do you get at least one dollars podcast every single day you get to hear from two time superbowl champion Antonio Christus and you get to hear from the birthday boy himself my dad and it's kind of Nice being on a by you know what I mean this is a nice week for it to fall on the worst is like that week for by you know what I mean but it's a nice time of year we talked about a little bit the world series coming around like next week to get you know get everything in order to cool fronts are coming in get your house set up you know what I mean like this is the time no absolutely it's a perfect time of the year to do a little reset You know just make sure that your doctor on a row for the next part of the season and yeah I mean nothing better than having a world series on TV to watch and or maybe get away for a little bit so speaking of reset a Lotta people in week three when drew brees got hurt set up Cobb is GonNa be seven Oh at the by they're going to be seven opposite didn't happen there four and three I want to get you Thoughts on their next five games that includes the game on the road a New England and we will be there I know that some of you are going to be there if you're going to be there we're going to get into New England in the Boston area so I know we're going to fenway we've got some cool stuff plan so we'll definitely be around we can grab some brews and chill if you're going to be there if you have any Boston conditions certainly let us know anyway I want to look at the next five weeks I view through the packers of the cowboys nemesis but the reality is the first step is winning the division and that's the win against the Eagles was so important so next five weeks I want you to tell me winner loss capital I'm talking next five games so I was going to buy this their next game is on the road at the site of their last loss metlife stadium against the New York giants that's on Monday night football I'm sure tests and boog awesome cute comments for Jason Witten I hope Jason Win scores for those reasons but winterless I think that's a win you know I think cowboys are effective enough to go in there and take care of the giants no problem I don't see any problem there put some five and three I agree especially with the by Jason Great it's going to get to work we'll see if he's at the world series again this year he was there last year sat next Brad Paisley Incredible eighteen in game I will never forget I was doing a high school game that night I remember and I said we wrapped up because it was the top of the ninth and Jason Oh my gosh call but okay so that would put them at five and three after that at home against the Minnesota Vikings back on Sunday night football the game I don't WanNa WanNa be fluff on it but it does it does depend on which vikings team shows up and Kurkin Primetime as messed there's a lot of you know loose variables flying around I think that you know the Vikings are the plane really strong right now I think it's going to be a good litmus test for Dallas is on there said I do think Dallas will pull it out that's a great offense you're right I mean this was a great defensive showing for the Eagles we'll see if they can do that against carp okay that puts them at six and three then there at Detroit I think they drop one of those games and just because I said this before the season started football's weird you know like the football news of football is going to show up at one point and the Games that I said that that could happen with this was way back and I'm not trying to be I called it the way it did the world series but I said the jets and said the lions and the deadlines game just feels kind of weird to me I I don't know I just I feel that could be a game we're going to find out that Matt Stafford I went to Highland Park in case you didn't know that over the last what isn't that ten years died Hirsch exactly I just that one I'm willing to you know I I feel that although I don't like it but I do feel that I think the lines they lost against the packers last wasn't Monday night and reading the horrible loss and then they had another horrible loss yesterday with the Vikings so you know I mean they are there pretty solid in fact I took him on one of the spreads that we play but you know I'm really think they're sneaky good Stafford's on that when we play them you know I mean he I think that's a loss and I can see I can see the cowboys they just got this huge win Yeah and then you just go and you fall flat in Detroit yeah the three hundred you mentioned six hundred nine earlier I think you've ever seen eight mile I'm going to be on the road in New England then four days later at home against Buffalo on Thanksgiving I think they split those so I think they emerged from this five game streak at seven and five ultimately means but that's a game that the cowboys haven't won that game in a while you know what I mean like the last game like that to me ballpoint I think you know here's where I think if they lose to New England I think that they might even drop Buffalo stating laws but I think that if they win in New England which I think they will then I think a they managed to maintain their their composure and then come home and win.

"Seeing that on on on Garrett as well I mean I would say that when the packers came to town that's a lot like how the cowboys looked they looked flat sports and it's not complicated like live property ceylon is funding super easy to play just join the game before kickoff.

I got permission to accompany the soldiers they put me in a humvee and i finally traveled to the front lines to be able to bring that story so when i get that message on twitter or by email from grateful readers who say thank you so much for your work. "Russell even let's figure at least the end you walk away feeling field you know what i'm saying let's just fight just relieved so i think is something to think about think so lots of think of actually a lot too right because yeah you just can't see that's wrong stars at ain't there that's my but i think when we discuss mental health just like the ad said for talks basis not just like what happens to me much out but it's like when you put together everything you've been through how you navigating the world right now how much of it is reenacting from that wound or those wounds and how much of it is actually happening and i think what i've learned mental health is is taking the time to decipher that's what it is to me that's emotional health as intel emotional intelligence rather is like our remember let's talk about it being the pas but i i haven't internal pas but if i feel i'm gonna react at pause say israel is this real or is this this life on old story that you like time traveling back to because it made you think of it and you're not even being present right now it has nothing to do with this person or this conversation you have to check on you have to check yourself when you're time travelling and when you're present and make sure that you're always present into me that is the key to mental health so that you can make navigate spaces with a little more ease always immu challenge but it'll be a little more completely right you also get like eleven licks in amount of as an alternative i'm not saying that's not the way to go up to saying as an alternative we give them a seven ho licks.

"Yes but it was just the dynamic was literally reenacting my own wounds and everyone's doing that but a narcissist can sense that and then the sad part with 'em path whose yup reviewing themselves with one star is that they will accept being gas lighted by the narcissist where the nurses fucking which you like you're crazy you're just crazy you know what you've been through you know what i mean they use that against you the impact is just like trying to be softened loved and sweet and then that's what we get stuck in these situations and i think most of us can play both roles unit i mean you can be the one who's doing the manipulating or be the woes being manipulated depending on where you are motionlessly but i think it sad because if you are proving yourself with this one star you can have those people who like you're crazy because you shared all these stories of the things you've been with and then they use that against you to gas slight you tell you when you are intuitively feeling that they're doing something wrong they can be like you're not feeling me you're feeling you're crazy unity you're feeling what you've been through and taking it out on me and then they manipulate you like that it's terrible a lot of people do it's happened to me so much and i'm done it on like happens in business to hey happens in business all the time are you kidding me producers who knew hours like a hood kid kind of dangle that over my head like while i mean who else go help you you're not meeting oil if they did help we go see bid.

"I know was getting people shoe shakes back in the day so they're little triggers that have like even you know no here someone's phone go off in the middle of the night you know like little thing so i'll return the wayne people someone's phone going off little triggers like face times beans a client or when their phone is turned over you know like all the time so are little things like that that i became slightly obsessive over because a i done this on new while it was happening in them be when you're in relationships where someone's doing that it becomes a thing where you start getting paranoid which is silly when i think back at them like why did you stay in these relationships you know like you i've put myself thang into yeah because hi but i'm hoping now i'm like friends soon as you feel that get the fuck out like doing right sometimes you gotta go stuff so then when you get because you gotta you gotta do it until you're tired of yourself you know and then hopefully you're tired of yourself enough to never put yourself through that again but i know those are all little things because even with people that are not with if i hear someone's phone i feel it in my body it'll be like a friend mike but it's the same alert sounds you know so i'll be like ooh girl you really it's like the traumas like on a cellular level we've talked about it being ptsd yes so you know and obviously these are not to make light of ptsd these are like more subtle versions of it but it's just so interesting how you can carry all these things and then my experiment it changes how you navigate and don't want to imagine me start dating the poor do just turned his phone over because maybe he just does adam adored show suits.

"But is so important to beware of the scars that you are you know invisibly carrying because it does change how you navigate spaces and to think that these people in this experiment would crying crying they swore up and down swore up and down that people were reacting to this and they could not believe it hotan it was just ugly just playing just just play what do you think of sante you know it's it's weird weird because not a one point they didn't like walk into a mirror nothing like excellent pass by like a window or something you know with experimental bay t jake with how they place them it just makes me think to myself like i'm always in my head anyway so when the always the moments wire try to say get the hell out of your head are those moments where i'm thinking where i'm building too many other stories like when i'm at a restaurant and we're out to eat and i'm like sitting with you and then i start thinking about like okay like my waiter is taking too long or like it's been five minutes or like now that they are here they didn't offer like what they needed to offer they not do like then i started become too invested their like whatever the fuck that is going on to like build this checks and balances system for myself like i'm building too many other stories like i need to focus on what's happening right here which is this dinner like here so like i think about that in every thing that i go through like when i was working on my project for if i were rapper like i have to stop every day every time i said all right i'm gonna wash music video inspired and then i'm like start making my list then like it will just take like one email.
