The Hugh Hewitt Show: Highly Concentrated
Why America's Navy Is No Longer Best in the Sea
"Back in America, as I said the most important thing. Not just to the Hugh Hewitt show audience, but to the world is that the communist Chinese party had Xi Jinping. The strong man, the totalitarian ruler of all of China, head of the Chinese Communist Party has been in Moscow for two days, meeting whether he calls his junior partner Putin, it reminds you of Hitler and Mussolini, if you know your history in 39 getting together, that's why I asked doctor Hendricks to come on today, Jerry Hendricks will be on an hour three to discuss his brand new essay in the Atlantic, which is really caught the attention of Washington D.C.. Because the Atlantic is the last magazine that many people read in America in hardcover copy form. And the title of the article is the age of American naval dominance is over. The subheading is the United States has seated the oceans to its enemies. We can no longer take freedom of the seas for granted. And this is sort of something I talk about a lot for the last, I don't know, ten years. When Donald Trump was running and promising a 355 ship navy, that didn't come about the biggest failure of the Trump years was the failure to get the shipyards expanded up and running, getting a navy plan. And the key facts that I'll be talking about with doctor hendrickson an hour three is that the United States had 6700 chips at sea at the end of World War II. By the end of Eisenhower administration, we were down to a thousand, which is consistent with the Cold War, and then it fell and fell and fell until regular arrived and rebuilt the navy to 590 ships that had the deterrent effect on the Soviet Union. It fell apart. And then in our wisdom, we thought the end of history had arrived and we are now at 271 ships afloat. And doctor Hendricks says, the complications of that, the implications of that are so profound that people don't even see the obvious in front of them. So I'm

UN chief's call for ambition on climate gets muted response
"Some officials at a climate meeting in Copenhagen have given a muted response to calls from the head of the United Nations, the countries to show greater ambition when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Speaking at the end of a two day meeting in the Danish capital, Egypt's summit shukri says there was no specific answer to the aspirational goals set out by UN secretary general Antonio Guterres when he urged rich nations to bring forward their target for achieving net zero emissions as close as possible to 2040. Shukri, who chaired last week's UN climate talks in Egypt, says these girls who will be met, I'm sure, addressed within the national context and within the national abilities, adding Egypt would have to rely on the transfer of technology. The Future Geopolitical Order and Bitcoin by Matthew Pines
"The future geopolitical order and Bitcoin. An initial assessment written by Matthew pines. The days move along with regularity, one day indistinguishable from the next, a long, continuous chain, then suddenly there is change. Travis bickle, taxi driver, 1976. On February 26th, 2022, a mere three days after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. The European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States released a quote joint statement on further restrictive economic measures. This statement joined by Japan two days later, declared how the group of 7 G 7 nations will quote commit to imposing restrictive measures that will prevent the Russian Central Bank from deploying its international reserves. This unprecedented sanction had the effect of freezing Russia's ability to access about half of its $600 billion of foreign reserves. And with a stroke of a pin, what Russia thought was its money one day, turned out not to be overnight. Amid the fast moving events of that period and additional sanctions since applied, the strategic import of this particular action was somewhat obscured. However, history will likely note that move as marking a fundamental pivot in the evolution of the international economic system and the associated global order. The lesson Russia learned in February was also learned by the Canadian truckers, and many others in recent history, and brings into sharp relief a question that hits at the core of the current monetary and political arrangement. What is money and who has the power to decide?

Liz Peek: Publisher Made 'Woke' Edits to Goosebumps Without Approval
"Stine in the New York Post really upset because apparently even goosebumps has been has been cleansed or sanitized to appease the woke crowd, and they didn't even bother to tell the author. Can you imagine? I mean, what an insult is that? So apparently, even if you're one of the most revered authors in history, which Roald Dahl is and a wordsmith and someone who took every word very carefully, your work is not sacrosanct. And it was reassuring to me that in a heartbeat penguin books came back and said, well, don't worry, don't worry, we're going to still publish the originals. And by the way, on eBay, the original for going for thousands of dollars. So clearly there's an appetite for that. I also thought Todd, the whole thing that happened with Hershey's celebrating international women's day by celebrating a transgender. People really didn't like it for two days, boycott Hershey's trended on Twitter, which really, you know, it takes a lot to have that kind of position on Twitter for two days running. I think a lot of people just thought, wait a minute. This is not a woman. This is not celebrating women. I can tell you better how to celebrate women. And I did in my column, like celebrating mothers, mothers of children with developmental issues, or whatever you want to talk about, that's women, to me. And that's the kind of women we should be celebrating. So I must say, I'm also heartened. By the way, today, I read that there is a county in Pennsylvania, which has reversed its stand on being a sanctuary county. They're not going to do it any longer. And Todd, this brings home the reason the way this is going to change is because average Americans are going to wake up one day to find that their schools are overcrowded with undocumented people that their kids are not safe walking down the block in the afternoon anymore because of progressive views on how to treat criminals

Powell to face Senate grilling on Fed rates and inflation

Powell could warn that the fed will likely have to raise interest rates even higher than it already has signaled and keep them there longer if the economy remains resilient and inflation stubbornly high as they have recently in the past year the fed has raised its benchmark interest rate to about 4.6%, and at the fastest pace in four decades, but consumer spending hiring and growth haven't yet cooled, raising the key rate usually makes mortgages, auto loans, credit card rates, and business lending more expensive, and although it can slow spending, it also could risk sending the economy into a recession addresses the House financial services committee on Wednesday. 4-day workweek trial in UK: Shorter hours, happier employees
"9 out of ten companies who took part in the world's biggest trial of a four day workweek are not going back to 5 days. Britain's royal society of biology took part in the trial. It involves longer workdays, employee Tessa Gibson loves the four day workweek. Weekends could be quite hectic. The two day weekend. So it's been quite nice to have that extra day. You see your friends and family on the two days when they're also free and then you get that extra day off during the week. Just to do all your chores or just to have that time to yourself. The Royal Society of biology's chief executive doctor Mark downs has seen a change. We see there's actually been a decline in the amount of sick days. But Jay Richards, cofounder of London's image and insight says four days is rushing it. He's tweaking the traditional work schedule. We do a 5 day week, but ten to four. So we shorten the days, and that means that the employees get to have that work life harmony, but they're not actually shorting their week. 70% of employees in the trial reported reduced levels of burnout. This is this again. This is like training her and so she knows that there's going to be this thing so towards the end i'm in my sub space in. I'm literally my my risks are handcuffed. I mean what's called a spanking bench. I'm i'm actually. There's a bar of my back to hold me in this bench my ankles are in a spreader bar That's pinned down. Like i'm i'm full on. I m immobilized and she had the cane and she was walking around me kind of circling me you know. And as she walked by the only thing left to my use was my mouth and of course very.

"To go tomorrow because with only one elevator sometimes there's a weight yes and The next day that elevator was working and then two days later Not so much, and now it's been several days and that elevator is still blocked off of the garbage can, Yes, because that's class. Yes, these official makes it more official during the cold there in Covid 19. That's class. Just put a garbage can find dirty garbage can in front of that door can't use that one. Rat infested garbage can just keep the doors open until large comes from the bottom. There again. Exactly. You write parts on backorder from Germany. It's unbelievable how much it Takes I use my Amazon password 10 times I couldn't get the part coated. Studly cotis studly were fine. So anyway, you're in the garage on your floor. And you notice that some Jack alone decides he wants his car to take up two spots so that he feels like he's got a safe space around him. I saw this truck and this on Cap J. Hood on Instagram and Twitter. I want people to be able to see how this guy parked. He's got his big. His game is big truck there, and he's taking up two spaces. You tell me like I think he could fit in one space clearly doesn't want you dinged by another car. But there's a way for you to park. You can park other places to make sure that your truck's not ding. Now I know a lot of our listeners drive trucks, whether it's for work or because it's convenient for their home or whatever. How do you handle parking in these spaces? Because Taking two spaces. The way he parked is absolute nonsense. It's a pickup truck. It's not like a you know a huge truck. It's a pickup truck, right Chevy Silverado or a Ford F 1 50 or whatever it is so you tell me and tell us like, how do you handle parking Because have you gotten dinged often? Do you take up two spaces Because I just think that anybody that takes up two spaces just because this is a jag. No question about it, like just flat out the jack. Now we have other examples of this even with small cars to where their back their way there butterfly their way in. I mean, that's that's not right either. No. I want to be able to have my spot I've got between the yellow line and to be able to put my car in right there perfectly the technology in today's cars where you actually have the rear view mirror. You have, like the little replay box there, right. It shows you if you're in the lines, yes, so you can be able do it perfectly now, As Miller always tells you because you have technology. It's easier to do anything, including cooking on YouTube. You can do anything that you are because of technology, Right? Should be five star chefs. Absolutely. That's what he always says. So I mean, just the way some of these people park like, Dude, you can't take two spots. And if you do take two spots, especially in the city, maybe you won't have a windshield when you come back. Well, some of them don't even pull all the way into the spot. So the ass end of the car sticking out. I'm like, Really. So my friend Sarah Lock who works for NBC. Sarah has taken it upon herself. Over the last few years. She takes a photo of anyone that parks like a jackass and tweets it out with their license plate o with the license plate o that stuff. Yeah. Yep. Now playing the role of defense attorney here. I'm not saying I advocate this type of behavior. But playing the role of defense attorney I would ask the question. Because it is a big truck. Are they doing other people a favor, because if they do pull into one if they try and squeeze into one spot Are they making it more difficult on other Parker's Because they won't have room to open their door? If they park next to this person. Do you think that's possible? I would If if I knew it was gonna be a tight squeeze all way around. I'd parked to the top. Like all the way go go away. I think that's the way fair. It's a fair point, because I think some of the spaces are wider. And if they're not look, man, If it's early in the morning office late at night, No one's parking those spots by park up top. I think I could get away with it. Dinner parking at Level three, Level two. Now you're just being a bad guy. He's like, I'm just going to pull in because I'm bigger than you If you brought the expression, all right, check out the picture on our Twitter account at Cap J. Hood. K P. J H 00 d Is that a bad guy? Yeah. Do you own a truck? You know, like a pickup truck like that. How do you handle that? 3123323776? "It was insane like the process to get back but I got back. Wow. And I figure out a plan to escape here again. I, you know, you guys can watch them and it said, I'm not going to keep on talking so much, but I made it home. I was able to run away with my baby $25 and I I've never stopped like, kicking and screaming and making it my business to, to win in life, and to show up to show people that these things don't Define you. Okay. I want to just take a breath like, everybody listening and me. I just wanted to get breath back tears in my eyes. It's a month. That's a lot. So congratulations on being just, you know, the spit and vinegar, I saw you just take a drink and I'm like, looks like vinegar, so spit and vinegar just off, so, so bold and to, to be that Intuitive to figure it out on how to get out of there. So that's fantastic. So now, you're now you're now you're free of him and now you have to transform your life again. And and then like, how do you how do you, how do you change from that situation to having a kid having $25 and Reinventing Your Life? I don't think it's I don't I know that it wasn't me, it wasn't me. Reinventing my life, it was the universe. Guiding me, you know, when they're like I don't know what you call those thoughts are guides when you like no Spirit. Yeah, yeah. I got it. Yeah guys, it was just me finally surrendering because as you can tell I have a very strong Spirit. Absolutely prove stubborn. Yeah. And so the I was like, okay, I'm ready to surrender. You showed me the way before you're going to do it again. And that's exactly what happened, two days later. I went to college with a baby, by the way. Life is like there's I have nothing else to lose. Like, what are they going to tell me? They're going to say no. And I'll say, okay, sure, no problem, right? I walked in there with the baby, literally like I didn't have a stroller. She was. I was holding her off on my arm and I said, hey, I want to go to school. Where do I need to do?.

"That's where i that's what makes me cry cries when you're like oh this is a good momentum because maybe you've been really working hard. Sometimes we want to work hard to. Let's say you have the park bench moment. Everybody's had our own versions of the park bench moment and then there. Is this idea that we want to do whatever we can to get back to that moment. Yeah and what's funny. Is the heart. Sometimes the harder you try to get back to the park bench moment the more elusive it becomes because what that is takes you away from presence. The idea that you're striving for anything to get to the park bench moment is a an obstacle and the key is reminds me of i think just shared this with somebody And i were sitting on the couch. And we're having our version of an argument about me traveling too much for work or something and you said something like what's going on in your mind right now and i said i'm just figuring out how we never have to be in this situation again. You've said that we've had so many discussions right. I do. I how do i do. I avoid this conversation. Like what do. I need to do to make sure this doesn't happen. Which is the opposite of what you needed or what we needed as a in a relationship in that moment which was presence so instead of me being present with whatever you and i were talking about i was fast forwarding to how i avoid this in the future and in the same way with the park bench the harder we try to get back to that place. You're not you might miss one. You might miss your park bench moment and it up in a different form two days later but you're too busy thinking about the park bench. I know you know what i mean. i do. And actually the others n. Parenting moment that we were choosing between you. You said let's do either. Grace or knowing and the one that i wrote about grace is exactly this. Is that grace comes in really gently and it takes you by surprise and it really is just a moment of awareness or a moment of lucidity or a moment of clarity and the fall into play and it's gentle it. it's a gentle nudge. Like grace does not come in and say you do the rarely relax you over. It's very light and it's the sun breaking through the clouds and grace is your awareness to notice it and to see it for what it is and that is like grace is the moment where i'm about to say something to you. And there's a part of me that's like. Don't don't say that and i choose to not not saves our relationship like grace's very gentle and or the opposite you are scared to say something and i say a new say exactly but not to hurt but to be truth so reveal to reveal and these are life is you know. "2000 and 2010, Tennessee 2011 2012, Indianapolis, 2013 to 2015. His Green Bay run that much different than those other places you played Matthew. You know, I think when I went from green bag to Seattle, Paul Allen was the owner in Seattle, and he was very hands off is an owner. So Mike Holmgren and company ran Seattle much like they ran Green Bay. And then when I went to the Tennessee Titans Mike Ryan felt who had been, I think the CFO and the GM and president both in Seattle and then in Tennessee. Um, you know, I'm sorry Green base yet On then in Tennessee. The model was very similar. But Adam's the owner was in Houston, Houston. Still from when they were the Houston Oilers. He was very hands off that way. But I think for the very first time when I went to the Indianapolis colds, I saw how an owner Grown up around football and had been in football the whole time, and Jimmer say I saw how he was very, very involved with GM head coach Had relationships with players had heard all these stories about whether it was you know Jim Arcee and Bill Polian and Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning. It was like the four of them. It's like a four headed monster in a way, and there was certainly a hierarchy. But there was relationship there, and it certainly felt like When things needed to get done. They just got him down. You know, just immediately, And I think that was leadership at the ownership position. So I guess the answer I'll give you is that not all NFL owners are created equally. Some have been around the game for a long time. Some of had continuity somewhere better business than others. Some are better at football than others. The Green Bay Packers air just unique. And sometimes, you know, I just would imagine when you want to get something done or where you have a question. There's no one to come through and answer the question shit on by, you know. I can't speak specifically to the details. There are but, um, it would not surprise me. If it's some point. Aaron Rodgers is playing for another team. It does surprise me a little bit that it might happen this year, but but knowing how it goes in Green Bay, certainly that could happen. So you still think there's a chance he's gonna play the Packers this year? Not perhaps finish his career in Green Bank. Yeah, I mean, if you feel like you would know better than me, but I just remember being there as a player playing for the Green Bay Packers for three years, and everything at the time was about Vince Lombardi, Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr, Vince Lombardi. Well, Vince Lombardi. Coach for Washington at the end of his career. You know, Reggie White was a teammate of mine. Reggie White was the man. It was like the minister of defense. He was our guy on defense, Red Farm on offense and Reggie on defense. And by the end of my time in Green Bay, we were playing against Reggie White when he was a Carolina panther. You know, it was like, you know, all of a sudden, Mark Tao share is holding the keys of the Green Bay Packers toe like the keys to success like Tausche. You know you're 1/7 rounder and a rookie, but we Just shut down. Reggie White tonight It was like, Wait, What just happened? Reggie White is the Packers. Reggie White is us but all the son he's a Carolina Panther, and then obviously they lived it with Brad Farve. They lived it even to us to a smaller extent. You know Mike Holmgren. My Congress in was that guy, and then all of a sudden he's in Seattle. So it happens to the greats. Guys that have streets named after them guys that are in the Packers bring of honor. They finished elsewhere. Clay Matthews, Jordy Nelson, you know, So I think the lesson is that it doesn't matter if you're Vince Lombardi, your bread, Farber. Even Aaron Rodgers. You could finish your career somewhere else. Um, it just seems unlikely because the guy just won the M v p. But that's that's the NFL, and that's where we are right now, Uh, one of the great experiences I've had this whole season was getting to see you again for the first time in would that have been 15 months, 16 months I see you on TV all the time. So I feel like I've been seeing you but not But I mean in person, And for those who don't know, basically eye at the last moment decided to fly to Augusta, Georgia, which I've never done. I hadn't left my house and 15 months. I'm on the course the first day and I feel somebody tapped me on my shoulder from behind. And there is long Behold my friend, my colleague Matthew Hasselbeck there on his own little there on his own little golf boys on his own little boys golf trip, right? Hey, Woz. I was but you you who are you with? You were with like Dwayne Wade. Who? Us? Yeah. You're right. Well, that's kind of why I was with. Basically you. Dwayne waited somebody else thought Well, I was with maybe doing great chef. I don't know You were with somebody. Dwayne Wade. Chef. He was like, Wow, that guy looks like Adam Schefter. And then I'm like, Well, that guy looks like Dwayne Wade and I'm like, Well, maybe that is that a yes. E had the pleasure and opportunity of spending some time with Dwayne Wade. Uh, yeah, that worked out pretty well, for those people who golf. You know how hard golf is. So then can you imagine golfing on a course like that? With the rules being as tight as they are? You know, you're you know, probably different than when you and I Play on a Saturday morning, so no, it was really cool is good to see you too. And you you, as always are a wealth of knowledge on the things that are gonna happen. I think of the time you had mentioned something to me that was like could happen. And I was like, Yeah, right. There's no way and what was that might have even been I don't know. I didn't think Was it. Aaron Rodgers. I think it was Aaron Rodgers. We were talking about at the Masters, and I think I was arguing with you is like, come on, There's no chance. There's no way you know which I had to go and explain that to be in this podcast because again and you can't even verify this. We're talking about it, but I didn't know No and Rogers the way that I reported on draft day, right, like It was out there. There were a lot of things being kicked around. What do you know my perspective? My perspective bonded Woz that there were people miss reporting. On social media. What a surprise. People were missed reporting and social media. They were mis reporting, quote unquote fax about that situation, and then I feel like I saw you come out and say, Whoa, none of that is true. But this is what I believe is true. This is what you know, And it was crazy at the time. I mean, it dominated right before the draft. Everyone's timeline. It dominated coverage and again. I think I like I was one of the people that was like no way that can't be Through, you know, And sure enough, I don't think anything that you said has been false. It's just sort of shocking and you know, there you go. That's why Schefter now while we got the Masters, you know it was the cool thing about the master's Matthew. It was quarterback central. It was a haven for quarterbacks. And we saw together Trevor Laurence, and that was wild to me that two days before his wedding, he's walking the course with this week, I'd say they had to drive back. Clemson to go to their wedding two days later. And there they are..

I've had some people that i've taught native wanna listen or they'd giving me a hard time about whatever teaching they didn't believe in my system but the majority of problems i've ever had had to do with business. It always had to do with you. Know a parent or a negative person saying things or someone who didn't like what i did after they joined my school didn't want to pay. My spark is back now. Because i kinda changed way of thinking about things in the model. I don't wanna let anyone get under my skin. I don't like. I just had a parent that i couldn't get along with for years a native. Give me a hard time about my contract. Redline my contract on a lot of things. I said. listen. I can't accommodate those changes. So you gotta do it my way where you can't come anymore and they serve okay. Well then we're not coming in. Say okay. I'm gonna miss your child. Love the person to death and You know but. I just can't change who i am and what i do just for you. And they ended up moving onto a different school. And i'm gonna miss the student. That's paying focused. I really was attached to the child. But i'm not gonna miss the stress that i got from this particular family. The parents which they were they were a little bit of a higher main always having to have private conversations trying to work out deals during kovin you know nothing was ever appreciated. What we did the traditions that we had so i'm happy to move on and then two days later i'm happy i'm like you know i don't really want to deal with that. My life is straight well. Don't you think that that comes with maturity in the business knowing that you know you you only have a threshold up into a certain point. I know in the beginning for me. I would take anybody. "Need to do this. That's how it was done with sars koby to the first time. Just one person so. They take their sample. They put it through. This process called next generation sequencing and the computer modeling is called alignment and it only. They can do this. In a matter of days and the computer spits out a theoretical sequence of theoretical new virus. And it may be says it's similar to something else in the database but it only has to be marginally similar for them to associated and then boom they just take out what they think is gene. Send that code through e mail to moderna or better. They program it into there. Aren a synthesizer machine and hours later that sequence comes out and then they pop it in their platform and boom. They're ready for clinical trials. Okay we we just hit on something really big. I think so what. We're what you just described so bay remembering that moderna in two days had this thing up and running what you and so what you're saying is that they decided to use this new thing. This new style of doing things during a surprise pandemic the biggest pandemic essentially they say how first of all does that. That seems quite telling right. Why would they choose to use something that hadn't been done before for the first time during this if they hadn't planned to do this especially since it seems that madonna clearly had their platform setup because they gave him the email in two days later they were up and running. So what does that tell you right there that they seem to suggest it was planned in some degree does not yeah. Well these platforms. That i mentioned these were already developed and ready to go not by just one company but by all these different companies so that when the time is right it becomes like a plug and play right. Could it should be stated that that's basically that they've been building and working on these things publicly in regards to mr a corona vaccines before this so it makes sense that they would have something but the idea that they would roll this out in a way for the first time. Sort of publicly during what's happening does not make sense to me like from a scientific perspective or a medical perspective it. This is a business strategy. Not a scientific perspective and you know it has other purposes as well you know more esoteric purposes but you know with madonna eating because they had the platform but they had not been really developing vaccines..

"About why now is the right time to make a statement. Would say, why not? We have been for decades, repeating the same stories in media and on screen on stage and where a lot of us just don't appear and are not part of the stories and the narratives and we just fed up. It's 2021. Everybody, especially the audience is really ready for stories that include everybody and where everybody sees themselves. Here in the United States. We have had our own issues with the entertainment industry trying to become more inclusive, more diverse. How would you describe the situation in Germany for more inclusion and more diversity? I think compared to the international picture, it's still really behind the discussion until now had not bean taken so openly. It hasn't been allowed voice and that's really something that we change. Now, when you signed this manifesto, were you simultaneously coming out publicly. I'm a nonbinding re person. So in my case, yes, for me. That was the same week I had my Personal public social media coming out and then two days later, the manifesto was published. It's very overwhelming and at the same time, very, very beautiful to live this moment in such a bigger context with such a great support within our group, but also from so many who write us from all over the world who are interested. There is certainly a sense of collective power. I think for people who signed this manifesto, there's also a risk in coming out in such a public way. What's your level of concern that this could result in you losing out on future roles? Yeah, I fear that people will reduce me to my personal identity regarding roles that people will doubt that I, as in the past, I'm able to play female roles, and that would be very sad. And it's also scary all that they're afraid of not knowing how to deal with me off Miss Jen during me, and that This fear kind of Makes them not wanting to work with me. I'm sure in a way, this feels like a very euphoric moment. For everyone who signed this manifesto may be a little scary. What do you hope it leads to It's not about making a big thing now, and everybody talks about it. And then in three weeks, it's for gotten. That would be horrible. This was prepared for 1.5 years, and it's supposed to be something sustainable and something that Changes things in the long run. So we're really hoping that a lot of different departments from the industry from screenwriters to produces to casting directors toe agents, there's an when is being created. They're starting to take responsibility for the decisions for their actions. So we have really hoping that the discussion is just starting. And this manifesto. It's really a very powerful tool. "Bianculli in for Terry Gross. Back with more of Terry's 2000 to interview with Vicky Wickham. She was the longtime friend of singer Dusty Springfield, as well as her manager and co author of Dusty Springfield's Authorized Biography. Dancing with demons. When did Dusty Springfield find out that she had cancer? Um, She called me up one day and said the end of the conversation sort of very casually said Did I tell you that? I found a lump in my breast, which I said no on what did your doctor say? To which you said? You know, I don't really have a doctor. I haven't been to see anybody. I did just get off the phone. Let me make you an appointment with mine. I'll call you right back. So I called. My doctor called right back. Two days later. We were in my doctor's office and Doctor said Basically to all of us, Yes, there is a lump. I want you to go and see in Smith at the Marston and we came out. Of course, there was the usual crowd of us and Went in, had our usual cup of tea and said, Well, it could be worse. At least you know, they know the lumps there. Perhaps they can do something that sending you to a great specialist on we were all trying to be, you know, incredibly optimistic. But of course, when she went to the master, and they suggest his cancer we Need to shrink the lump which they did. And then they took. They do what they call is a lumpectomy, which they take the actual lump out and that stage it hasn't spread into the glands or anything. Did chemo did some radiation? And we thought she was clear which was magnificent of the record came out diddle the promotion which must have been grueling for her, But, you know, thinking that she was absolutely okay. And then she went Holiday in Ireland and started Strange having some sort of cough, and when she came back, went back to check, and they said, the up, you know to come back and we need to be more aggressive this time around. And so she she took more aggressive chemo after that. Did she did, And also dusty was very well informed person and what she didn't know. She certainly would find out she she went to every possible source on the Internet friends except except to find out what treatment was effective. What could be done what America was doing? Called several people in American in hospitals and stuff and said, This is what I'm doing it the mast and is there anything you would recommend just was really well informed and To their credit. The master will wonderful and tried a couple of things that hadn't been approved in England. They actually went to the association and got approval to use the drugs on dusty, which was very brave and good of them, because I do think it's your choice. What you want. But unfortunately none of them did the trick. How did she handle the news that the cancer had come back? Scared as hell as we all would be but absolutely determined that she would beat it. I mean, she felt that she'd beaten it before she felt the Cheetah basically in life, had many close brushes with her life that she always beaten it. She felt she was in great shape emotionally just in her life in general, and that she would beat it. Did you ever by the way? Come out, asshole. Lesbian? No. Even when she knew she was dying? No, there was there was no, you know, in a way that was sort of no interest in her. From that point of view that stage of the papers were interested in the cancer and it never really cropped up. Did she wish? Do you think that she could have been more? Honest about herself. Yes, because she was a very outgoing person. She, um she wasn't a secretive person at all. I'm quite sure that she wished she could have been. You were at her funeral when she died. Yes. What? What was the funeral life and was was there any of her music that was played there? Yes. Um, I put it together with Simon Bell. The two of us and I just said to Simon, you know, dust was such a star and artist. We have to just have a very grand funeral. And as you know, the body was put in an open hospital carriage, which is stopped the traffic in Henley and yes, it was all her music We played Going back, which is very apt Goffin and King Song and the coffin actually went out to you don't have to say you love me And as it came out of the church, the crowd outside I'm only laughing because she would have loved it broken toe. Applause on, Elton said. It's the only funeral I've ever heard off that the coffin gets the applause. She would have definitely been chuffed and had a giggle.
