"Me. You know, you mentioned in the last segment that I guess toasted for you a few months ago. So I haven't been back on that show since I was in your seat, but it's great to be here. And you did a great job. The feedback we got as expected. You got rave reviews. Everybody loved the job you did. And you know, people think hosting a few hours a day is a little bit like Joe Biden riding a bike. What could go wrong? Well, as we both know, Mike, there's a lot that could go wrong. Two days earlier, I guess toasted for Dennis, and it was my first time. I was 21 years old ever hosting a national radio show and it was daunting. And halfway through my first segment, I got a notification in my ear from our producer Sean that governor Andrew Cuomo had just resigned. He's saying to me, you've got to announce it now on air. You've got to announce it and I'm thinking, oh my God. I am 5 minutes into my first national radio show. This had to happen now. Right, and you had it all mapped out in your mind. You were ready with the monologue. You knew what you were going to do, and then totally. Then leave it, leave it to Cuomo to throw you a

"Crew got a junior's crew was very different. Gambino died back in 1976, and John Gotti was behind bars thanks to testimony from Sammy the bull gravano, but while he was away, his son John Gotti junior started to run the show and intimidating people like stratus who owned restaurants and nightclubs. This is back in the 90s. So John Gotti and his crew stratus says, that's what they lived on. They would shake down every restaurant from the upper east side to midtown. And as a new kid on the block, it was stratos turned to pony up some dumb. Or at least that's what two have Gotti junior's top honcho thought one night. And stratus was not a big dude, not a musculo, but didn't take any shit. He said, what do you guys want? And they said, we want 5000 a month. We're going to break you in those every week. All right, so let me give you a quick answer stratus says, go fuck yourself. That's how he was. He had no fear at all back then. A couple of nights later, someone starts throwing black paint on the dining windows every night. And stratus would go out and scrub them down each morning to make sure to have a nice and clean again for that night's business. Ralphie Coppola noticed this is happening. And he said to stress, sit tight. Don't worry about nothing. I got this. Two days later, transitive phone call from the Ralphie's guys. Tell them to come, they will restaurant called ferrier, very popular vistro called ferry on the upper east side. So when he gets there, Ralph is there with Bucky and all the Gambino composer in the back sitting around. So he sits down with Ralph and Bobby and the 5 heads of the Gambino family. And Ralph basically says to the guys in the Gambino crew, listen, this kid is with us, and you tell John Gotti junior tobacco. What for if he doesn't back off, this thing's gonna escalate. And stratus has said his head just spun around, like, you know, the guys turned around and said, all right, we like this kid. He's a good kid. Don't worry. We'll talk to John junior. We'll squash this and lo and behold, it was squashed. That's the kind of power Ralphie Coppola had back then. And just like that, and I know how this goes because I was put on this protection as well. Stratus was under the protection of the Genovese

Can You Trust Fox News and National Review?

"Hey there folks I continue my conversation with John as zamira Z M I are a kz. Please sure you have it right. John, you were just talking about something horrifying. Please continue. Talk about whether you can trust Fox News or national review or these other institutions that we used to wait a minute. And national review, they both gone squishy on the same exact issues. You can always count on them to be 10° over to the right from the radical left. So if the radical left wants prison camps to kill 10 million Americans, I think Fox News and national review will come out and say no, we should only be 5. They're running if the left is jumping off a cliff. NASA review on Fox News will be sliding off the cliff. The point is they don't make principle take principled stance. They don't help us stop moving in the wrong direction. They just don't want to slow it down and do it in a nice orderly way. The point I want to make about Fox News, well, there's a lot, but basically two days ago I was flying home from San Diego from actually from Los Angeles where I'd been speaking and at our gate at LAX airport, delta has a gigantic balloon rainbow. And when I mean gigantic, it was absolutely gigantic. And I thought to myself, this is where we are that you have Delta Air Lines, celebrating Pride Month. Now, why? Let's think about why are they doing this? Partially they're doing this at a pure fear. All they know is we don't want to get in trouble. We want to go with the flow. We want to go, and I say, in my upcoming book, a letter to the American church, I only mentioned it, but it has to be said, Germans in the 30s, when they put out the swastika, they didn't know what that would come to represent.

Washington Commanders' Coach Fined $100K for Asking a Question!

"You see the story over the weekend? Of the Washington commanders head coach. Is that the, that's the new Redskins name, right? I don't even keep, who cares? They're so woke. They can't call themselves the Redskins anymore. So now they're the Washington commanders. So they have a defensive coordinator named Jack Del Rio. He said, in a tweet, he compared. I mean, let me read to you what this guy said and what he got in trouble over. The coach, the assistant coach responded to a story on Twitter about the January 6th committee hearings, and he wrote, would love to understand the whole story about why the summer of riots looting, burning, and the destruction of personal property is never discussed, but this is. And then the next day, reporters asked him about it, and he said, I asked a simple question, let's get right down to it. What did I ask? A simple question. Why are we not looking into those things? If we're not going to talk about it, why are we not looking into those things? People's livelihoods are being destroyed, businesses are being burned down. No problem. Now these are points that everybody makes, right? Do you know he got fined a $100,000 for saying that? Do you know that the head coach of the Washington commanders Ron Rivera proudly announced yesterday or two days ago or Friday? That Jack Del Rio had been fined 100 thousand dollars for expressing a belief that if we're going to be fixated on January 6th, how about we talk about all the riots that engulfed American cities after George Floyd?

Why Charlie Is Against Gun Waiting Periods

"I want to just kind of reinforce the point here, which is gun control is the preferred method of weakening a citizenry by a tyrant. It's done all across the world, and one of the reasons why I believe this gun control debate is going to fizzle out by the left is we have a million new gun owners in America in the last year. Connor, can you get the latest numbers of gun ownership that skyrocketed in the last couple of years, crime is up and all that. Please, it's really, really amazing. While he does that though, I want to tell you the story. This is why I'm against waiting lists or waiting periods. Carol bowne, known best for defending herself from a violent ex what was a gun. Knew her, I'm sorry. I'm a misread this. Knew her best shot at defending herself from a violent ex was a gun, and not a piece of paper. And it was paperwork that left her unprotected when Michael eitel showed up at her New Jersey home last week and stabbed her to death. She was on a wait list application, a firearm application, and they're supposed to rule on within 30 days. So they have waiting lists in New Jersey. Brown 39 had a restraining order against isil when he killed her in the driveway last Wednesday. He didn't listen to the restraining order. Tragically, she had gone to the local police department two days before her death to check on the status of her languishing application. In another indication of her fear of izel, Brown had recently installed surveillance cameras around her home, and the equipment recorded the 45 year old ex con attacking her as she arrived home and got out of the car. She told the police, can I please get the gun? Can I please get the gun? And he stabbed her to death. That's my problem with waiting

"But you have to ask yourself how is it explainable other than the existence of pure evil You say oh it's mental health is it Is it mental health Because let me tell you something again I hate citing education two days in a row so it's going to have to stop for at least another 6 months Because it's just weak people cite their education when they can't explain an argument without relying on their CV right But for a moment forgive me folks there are a lot of people who have serious mental health disorders Schizophrenia is schizoaffective disorders personality issues bipolar disorder TBIs There are a lot of people who have serious cerebral damage They don't go out and murder a bunch of 9 year olds You know and you say well maybe it's just like the video games and the entertainment Well like I said yesterday I don't think a lot of that stuff helps but I don't blame them I mean I like video games growing up I used to watch Chuck Norris movies and James Bond movies You know my dad let me watch invasion USA when I was I don't know how old I was 8 9 There was a lot of dead bodies in that I never went out and be like wow that would be cool if I could whack a few people That never happened either So if it's not the mental health and it's not the video games it is not the violent movies Is it some combination of it all I mean maybe evil is the explanation

Extreme Athlete Tom Jones Is Quit-Proof

"Having a fun and important conversation. I like all my conversations to be fun and important with Tom Jones. He's an extreme athlete marine veteran doing something right now that is amazing. He is running across most of the country a marathon a day to draw attention to the ideas of patriotism, faith, and specifically united we pledge dot org, building a replica of this American village that's in montevallo, Alabama. They want to do that in Utah, which is where he's going to end up. So Tom, I got to ask you, when you're running, at what pace do you run so that this is possible? Because I mean, I just really, again, can hardly imagine to go 26 miles in a day, and then to do it the next day and the next day, how do you, what have you settled into at this point that makes this possible for you? Is 26.2 miles a day and I can tell you one thing that was the last 6.2 miles, those are the ones that kick your butt. So what I've settled into is a piece of right around four to 5 miles an hour. I mean, it's just unbelievable to me that you are able to do this. And so you're doing this every day and you're about halfway from montevallo, Alabama to this place in Utah. So where does that put you now in Texas? Yeah, that puts me in Arlington, Texas, so we're approaching halfway through it. And so I think in two days, we'll have been at this 30 days. We're going to be doing 76 of them in a row. This time, you know, last time I did this, I did a 121 marathons in a row, but that was back in 2000. And my piece was much faster than it is now, although, you know, it's just a matter of being quit proof, man.

May 20: Expanded Release by Popular Demand of '2000 Mules'

"I've got some big news about 2000 meals, guys, so this Friday, may 20th. The movie is going to be in the theater. It's going back into the theater, but it's going back into the theater in a new way. The first time we were in the theater, we rented out theaters about 300 of them. And the movie showed for just two days on a 7 p.m. showing. And essentially what we did is we bought out the theater. We recovered some of our costs through by selling tickets. This is not like that. What happened is with the success of the movie, everyone talking about the movie. A lot of independent theaters began to call us. Hey, why can't we have this movie in the theater? And we were like, you know what? This is fantastic. A lot of our people love to see the movie in groups. Love to see it in the theater. In fact, we've been bombarded with people trying to organize groups. Hey, how do we organize a group showing? And of course, organizing a group showing both privately or in theaters really difficult. Because if you're doing it privately, how do you get the acoustics to work? If you're doing it with a theater, you got to negotiate with that theater manager. It becomes an unbelievably complex operation. So this is wonderful. This Friday, may 20th, about 400 theaters are going to open 2000 meals as a normal release and what I mean by that is for showings a day. And this is not a case where you have to go at 7 p.m.. You can go whenever you want, and you buy tickets also the normal way. So what you do is you go to our website, which is 2000 meals dot com, and it will connect you to the ticket buying sites like Adam or Fandango, there are a couple of others. And then when you go to Fandango, you sort of search the local theater near you, it'll pop right up. You buy tickets and this is a way. So you don't need now to organize special screenings per se, just organize you and your friends, organize you and your women's Republican group. You can kind of go as a group and you can see it in the theater, starting this Friday in a normal

"L A and Josh Rosen played there. Jim Mora Jr. By the way, is going to join us with that with John and show a 10 15. Remember when you know going into the draft. We had coach more on you know he coached him Is you last year at U. C L. A I am a very big fan of sand Arnold's, but I thought Josh Rosen in college through the ball. Just about as well, the one major issue he had. Was health. He got hurt a lot and serious, You know, serious injuries and illnesses and he didn't play as much and it seemed like the pass rush bothered him. And then you heard the off the field. You know, stuff that he comes from a family for money, and he's not motivated. Well, that you know. Who knows? They said, You know the same thing about Justin Herbert being an introvert. Now look at him. I think he's fine. So this does intrigue me what they're going to do with him. He won't play in this game, Marcus, nor should you play him. But she had all the week after that when you have a full, you know, you get a man. Uh, you know I don't I hey, wasn't there yesterday, I got to see if he's gonna be in there today. And you're playing Saturday. So it's a short week. If it was Sunday, and he got in today, and he had Wednesday and Thursday, you still wouldn't do it. But you would feel more comfortable if he had to play in the game. And who knows? I remember the Raider's bringing a Carson Palmer in a similar situation and thought no way in hell. He's playing in the game, and Kyle Boller throws about 18 pick sixes right away and Person. What do you got? Dude, go in there. Let's go. Right was it was awful. He was awful in that game, but I know he's not gonna play in this game. I mean, if C J gets tagged in the game and the Arizona Cardinals, even though they don't have Chandler Jones, their pass rush is ferocious. We've had 14 quarterback sacks the last two games, so he may get thrown in the game because of injury. You don't want that to happen, but I think the bigger picture issue is what are they? What are they thinking about Josh Rosen. Now that you have him on the roster, you have him in the building. Not just he's a pretty thrower. The football is good footwork of former tennis player and all that. What kind of guy is he? Cankaya. Can you handle Kyle can when Kyle gets up in his face when he makes an heir and coaches him hard, So this this doesn't treat me. I think this is this is the guy that identified right away when I heard Kyle, I don't even know the protocols about Assed far as testing. If you're in a practice squad, you don't have to go through the the weeklong entry to go to the new team. I didn't even know that because if you bring a guy off the street, obviously, that's the case. But it anyway when I heard practice Squad guy we could bring in right away went. I know Josh Rosen. Is on Tampa's practice squad. There were other guys that were interesting names like Blake Bortles and Matt Moore on a few others, But I thought Rosen right away, but then you know he's leaving Tampa Bay. Let's say One of their quarterbacks gets hurt. Now, all of a sudden, he's active on game day and playoff games when he walked away from that with the answer's Yes, he wants to come back to California s O. I thought of him right away is the most skilled player on anybody's practice squad, And I think it is intriguing and not so much for the here and now, although maybe against Seattle What does that mean for the off season and the quarterback room? I mean, it's it's quite possible. They have three new quarterbacks on this roster next year. Could Josh Rosen be one of them? If that's what that Marcus and I were kicking around, You know, everybody's saying, you've got to get another backup to compete with Jimmy. If you're gonna bring in a veteran, it's gonna be a backup's going to push him a little bit, maybe will compete and be able to play if Jimmy were to go down with an injury. But it is Is Josh Ellen. That guy for Jimmy or doesn't need to be somebody's hero steps. Just check Josh Salad right now. Shelly would be that guy is Josh Rosen that I don't know. I mean, I who knows he could be your third. Mean Champa. He wasn't good enough to be. Brady's backup is on the practice squad there, so something happened there, and obviously Arizona had. I mean, they got rid of him right away. And you know Kingsbury and how they want to run their offense there with Tyler in made sense, but They pulled the plug on him quickly and and anybody cooks anybody in the league could have done with the 40 Niners did yesterday because they had to Because Mullins is 30 may face Tommy John. You don't want to play Jimmy. Josh Johnson has covert. I mean, they were in a scramble situation where they were forced to do this. Anybody else in the league could have just called Josh Rosen's agent and say We want to put him on our 53 right now, and nobody chose to do that. So what the league does and doesn't do is all is very telling sometimes. So, the geezer, you know, we don't know. And you can't make this decision. You know, in 24 hours or 24 days, you know, it'll take maybe 24 months, but I think looking looking at him in the short term. And then what does that mean for the off season? I mean he was the 10th overall pick in the draft in 2018. He just got him off the scrapheap. I mean, that's you know, you're gonna probably picked 10th. Somewhere around there right now is the quarterback. You would take maybe a 10 and 2021 any better than this guy? Well, we We don't know That's why you got to come in and look at him. But it is very intriguing What they've done to get him on the restaurant. Would you guess it all that they get a look at him next week. Maybe if he gets, let's see how better does you know? Let's see. You know, you're gonna have to Max protect some in this game because they're his own events. Joseph bring said he likes the place and I thought when Chandler Jones went down to injury, their pass rush would fall apart. That's not the case. They've got Markus Golden back from the Giants and their Formidable. You know, they had dates. Six sex last week, the 88 before the week before against the Giants. I mean, it's possible bettered. Gets knocked out of the game or has to come out. We don't want that to happen to him, obviously, and his story also is amazing. You know, it's almost exactly a year ago. Ah, year in two days ago that his brother was senselessly murdered. You know, you know, outside of a bar in Nashville. I mean, just ridiculous. You know, young man like that. What he's going through is amazing. So and that's so hard, So, you know, let's just see what C J. Scott I think the interesting just to watch their arms. You know, we don't get to go to practice or we'll watch warmups anymore. Really that CJ's gotta live arm and Josh Rosen is a very accurate thrower, the ball former tennis player, he gets up on his toes. Kind of like Drew Brees. He always kind of reminded me of Drew. Away, throws the ball up on his toes. Great footwork, So I don't know. I mean, we're not gonna you know, get this. You don't make any proclamations. Do you see the guy play, but I think partly what they were looking at was, you know we need a guy when you know, live body warm body that can play right now, if we have to another emergency and Plate borders Guy was a high draft pick. I wonder where they had him, You know, Scout and when that in Peter's going back to U C L A. So I think he is. He's probably their number one choice when they were looking at the practice squad guy. I think he was the most, you know. Young and upcoming the kind of guy you'd like to pluck off a practice squad. But, you know, knows. Let's see where it goes from here. Yeah, Maybe he's the most upside. One more thought here, Matt Barrows. He's joining us in just a couple of minutes here. I think he had written that. CJ's last start came against Arizona in Arizona against Rose today. Yeah. Ocean has three wins in the NFL tour against the 40 Niners. Come on. Remember that game when they wrap their Christian Kirk on a 75 yard? Remember out right away, So he knows the 40 Niners plays already put him in. You want a man? What a man wants to start to Molly on Saturday, Man? Yeah. I'm out on that trick. I don't think so. Marcus and send the pdf to his phone on the plane. He's been on 14. He knows a few of the place they have. Like. What are we waiting for here? What do we do it All right. You're encouraging her to drink. Thanks so much, man. We appreciate you making the time. Yeah, very interesting. I warmed up for our show. I feel good night's courts lose you go ready to join the show today, man. Have a good call this weekend to every holidays to both of you..

"Mean one is charged with do you live so the video you see him blow into the thing and the police officer was cordial as well he seemed to be not losing his temper with Mister Brooks and Mister Brooks it seemed to be like I said a check of two days ago it seems like a really nice guy I mean did you watch the whole thing Tom and I thought I was that I use you know he's like trying to explain I was here and I was my she's in the hotel I could have done this I mean it's like when these situations where he's he's he's drunk when they ask him one to ten ten being you know after the terms of use one be completely sober and the other one incapacitated he's like I'm ten I'm completely I'm completely completely capable and you guys know about it the person asking again one is totally sober if you watch the whole thing you get some idea there's an exchange that seems to be respectful to both individuals obviously the Cognos he's got the camera on him Mr Brooks is there and they do the breathalyzer and then at that point when he goes Europe I don't know if he says you're under arrest for do you why but he blows of whatever your is a point one something rather Mr Brooks was on parole and he knew for a D. why he's going to have to go back again because I think you spend a couple the number of your present so he realizes that point I'm in the hell out of here so he he has missed parole cut back and parole got spent time in jail got back out of jail went to think Canada came back or some other state that got him brought him back so he has had many run ins and I think at that point he thought I'm you know what my only I gotta get out here because I do not want to go back to jail again and that's why he took off Tom yeah now the the problem is is it him taking off any hadn't taken off he'd be alive today but the problem is if he takes off there's no reason why you can't that we talk about this yes right he's drunk you already know who he is you've got his ID you've got his car he runs away eventually going to be able to pick up even if it's not till the next day to kill a man in that is is unfortunate and just like he has a history so apparently does this a police officer in this out this article there been a number of complaints about him and that he's been unnecessarily aggressive A. got lit written up the real at some point so I'm afraid my guess is is that the reason the charge came down was that you have to determine if he'd shot because he was really in fear of his life or if he was just mad that he wasn't you know conforming to his orders about what he should do right the the weird thing for me I don't know enough about what felony murder in the state of Georgia is but the fact that he sounds like this officer is charged more heavily than Derek shaman in Minneapolis was is a bit surprising if that's indeed the case here's here's more from the the attorney we have also concluded that.

"The press release has it been quite jubilant they've been completely bipartisan graduating president Obama the American people are giving president Obama strong approval ratings for getting Osama bin laden but the bush team is trying to grab the credit president Obama show this week he was as cool in the turners time as he was in price president as he was in the delegate Hon as a candidate back in two thousand eight he was the man he got it done Liz I did they did mention the bush thing which I did bring up but now they seem pretty happy no the look generally speaking present above I got all the act but but but that that that's the media they will liberal back then they were all bomb of bands back then so obviously that's going to change I mean I remember that that picture of him sitting there went and Hillary Clinton you know not exactly James Dean Boulevard of broken dreams but the two of them sitting there like they're just on something amazing I mean they had about as much to do with the killing of Osama bin laden as you when I did somebody call bin laden into a bomb and said Hey we found them so we don't know but he did make the the the the the dates the distinction here is that he could have just bomb the compound he decided to send the troops in yes he did and that was it well he did decide that they decided that they called Obama only so we can get on this one he made the decision you want to give the credit of course okay and this is similarly this president made the decision we could have just bombed the compound and said we got we got Baghdadi private you would have had the proof the DNA and all that stuff that still be conspiracy theories today so in that sense it took onions the so the reaction to the Baghdadi a killing from the media today went like this he sounded a lot like a president the United States he actually sounded like Saddam Hussein after torturing people sounded like Moammar Kadafi after he would torture people there's a long trail ahead of him actually finally releasing details explicit details some of which sort of code I'm frankly the crudeness he would often expected maybe from my sister it's just a small sample let's go Scarborough the first that was the first he is gone crazy on trump this morning I don't but people don't know this but they've got some former army guy here legitimate American hero who's testifying this morning in these impeachment hearings I guess and he's he's going **** of the trump and trump one if that this guy and Joe Scarborough is just murdering trump this morning instead of continuing to get him credit what happened two days ago he's taking trump to test this morning for taking this **** winter to task who's clearly lying here or not the hatred is palpable it is really it's out I mean other the night after the night after Baghdad he was killed the president goes to a baseball game against blue hi my come up like a monk kidding me with these please see rob Reiner's tweet yesterday I I tweeted about this morning on with terminal illness did you see it I did not rob Reiner tweets it's pretty disgusting when people chant lock her up when there's been no criminal activity yet they get upset when they chant lock him up when he's clearly committed many crimes we made well of course he's got it backwards she's committed all the crime was not so I sent them I saw a rough plan those thirty thousand emails in a tweet me back yeah very good city very good to face and the press the president was in Chicago yesterday and the disrespect continues it was a it was an association of police chiefs it was held in Chicago and of course the Chicago police chief he decides he's not going to go the president called him out on a take a listen but there is one person it's not here today we're in Chicago I said where is yeah I want to talk to him in fact more than anyone else this person should be here because maybe he could learn something and that's a superintendent of Chicago police Eddie Johnson here's a man that could not bother to show up for a meeting of police chiefs most respected people in the country in his hometown and with the president of the United States and you know why it's because he's not doing his job where's Dr because he's a coward he's afraid of the blow back from the racists in his community Chicago per capita the murder rate is astronomical per capita it's unbelievable and you have kids like we did the boy here who was killed the other day fourteen year old kid shot in the chest he was collateral damage to gang violence and that's what you have in Chicago it is in people being shot left and right and yet the the people in power you have the mayor there who's a complete told us is almost as big of a phone as a builder Blasi Elena mark with Melissa mark Viver read on she's now the mayor yeah take whatever they care more about the criminal right there then it isn't black kids and all ladies being shot and killed by the thousands I mean the numbers all like you said I synodical did he also take just the small let the task again yesterday he did he called the he said he talked about the Jesse small let hopes in any likened it to the impeachment hoax okay yeah he called he called him out and that this particular cops through that particular investigation of his well this Eddie Johnson guy who's not a complete total bad guy but he he just he came to the pressure is afraid of the ball back that he would get if you went and met with people that he could actually work you know get some federal funding from the president if he played a little ball and help out some of the people that he purports to represent but no he's afraid he's a coward spineless is busy it is a manual still there no manuals out they have a new mayor all right she's right through me as a legal something light for not Gordon Lightfoot not good if you don't read mom mind go what a tale my thoughts could no it's the system that does not Gordy not gory but that's what yeah that's what this president is dealing with its incredible I mean is nothing but good intentions by going there and spot lighting the crime they need the help I mean the the people in the streets are getting killed they need the help give it to take to accept IT accept the help everything is S. backwards and it's sick and I don't know I feel sorry for the president in a lot of ways so coming up of course Bo deal next hour seven forty and then it's breast cancer our in the eight o'clock hour and Cameron Douglas is the son of Mike and the grandson of Kirk but he's got a story of his own that'll blow your socks off he's got a book out he's in studio at nine o'clock on the burning in sigil come right back the.

I had to pause and think. a Dutch doctor. was acquitted Wednesday two days ago of all charges for the euthanasia of an elderly patient who suffer from dementia. I was just for multi story I was involved in competitive speech when I was in high school and college when I was still in high school I went to a speech Fuhrman and it was impromptu speaking in a in a how they do it they give you a word and they give you five minutes to prepare so that you can spontaneously respond out of tape it was very useful in terms of what I do now because I have to be able to think on my feet. so I walk into the room and this was in nineteen sixty five I walk into the room and the judge gives me the word euthanasia. and this is the height of the Vietnam War so I gave the most brilliant talk on American fighting youth in Asia. and of course that was not what I was supposed to talk about I was supposed to talk about euthanasia. and the question of. death. of euthanasia. is tough. I tell a story on myself because a lot of people don't consider but if you're really sick. should you have the right to take your own life. or if your doctor helps you. is it murder out let me just tell you my father was a doctor and he told his nurse who work with him every day Lydia. if I am incapacitated here's how you kill me. and nobody will know. judges of the Hague District Court. found that. shouldn't. had expressly requested euthanasia. at an early stage in her outsiders. she said or doctor I know what I don't want to live with it and my life. the doctor had acted carefully in accordance with the.

"So many things we don't know about I went in there to which is why we call in our next yes who is the author of that don't know much about history series is most recent books more deadly than war the hidden history of the Spanish flu and the first World War the hidden history of America at war in the shadow of liberty in the center of liberty the history of slavery the hidden history of slavery for presidents and five black lives can Davis good morning to you happy fourth of July and you know the one of the fact that I always ask you about your pass along is the fact that here we are on independence day and it should have been celebrated what two days ago fourth and July second good morning Warren and happy independence day to you and yes absolutely if John Adams had his way we would have celebrated July second as the great has the great festival day with church bells ringing and bonfires and parades and illuminations as he called it which we kind of think of as fireworks but this was because on July second Congress actually voted that America was independent it was a resolution of independence and the I guess you know having a holiday in favor of a resolution isn't as interesting as having a holiday in favor of a declaration because of course it's Jefferson document adopted on John July fourth by the Congress that explains why the Congress had voted in favor of of independence and that became the nation's press document and of course today July fourth is the nation's birthday how many signed the declaration of independence and of course we know the because it's so big John Hancock may very well have been what the first person to sign it but how many after him okay well that that would there were fifty six signers of the declaration when we see the parchment version but let me just step back here a minute and explain that on the July fourth most of the men did not sign the document what they had to find that night after long days of debate was Thomas Jefferson's draft and it had been scratched out and things were deleted in words were changed words were added and so that night only John Handcock signs and the secretary of the Congress signed as a witness his name is Charles Thompson but it's not that big John Hancock that we all think of when we think of the declaration so that document was then sent to a printer the printer prepared a printed version of the declaration which was read a few days later that's called the the broadside version and then the parchment version that we all are most familiar with which is in the National Archives was ready for being signed on August second and that's when most of the fifty six signers actually put their names on the document including John Hancock in very large letters in the center forcing everyone else to sign in much smaller letters around the edges what what do you figure the the founding fathers would think about what the one of the major if it's not number one that's number two issue is today in this current presidential campaign is going on immigration but you know that's it it's interesting and kind of hard to say what they would have thought of course first of all most of them would have said certainly they did very early on that the biggest fear they had was faction and by faction they meant partisanship and parties so I think they'd be very concerned about how partisan the the Congress and the government has grown and how we are so sharply divided along those lines I think they would have been very very remarkably surprised by the extraordinary powers granted to the president and that the president has been given seeded over by Congress and I don't just mean the current president this is a long evolution one of the longest and harshest debate when they were debating the constitution and again seventeen seventy six is the declaration seventeen eighty seven is the constitution in the same place and some of the same man participated but they really worried about too much power being given to an executive including the power to make war and not probably be would be one big issue one of the things the founding fathers did not like what's the big powerful standing army and a chief executive in charge of that army and of course we're seeing us sort of a symbolic representation of that today yeah that is one of the issues how much money is being spent on this July fourth celebration today and in fact do many are saying do we really need to have tanks there in the military we are the most powerful military in the world while countries like North Korea like Russia like yeah France have to parade their tanks and and their guns in their missiles through the streets to try and somehow how some way emulate us were there we really well it had hit it's it's really quite important to understand that and and use you can point I have made a career out of pointing to the contradictions and flaws and sailing of the founding fathers especially when it came to the issue of slavery but one thing we have to credit them for and particularly George Washington is at the moment of his greatest power and popularity he of course chose to step away from the presidency it was this that that established the idea that the presidency should be limited to two terms the constitution originally had no term limit for the presidency Washington indeed could have serve for life but the founding fathers were very opposed to the idea of titles of people having power and I come back to this because it is very important they were very much opposed to the idea of a large standing powerful military and of course in the court and in the course of two hundred years we've created what presidents former general Eisenhower called the military industrial complex so that would be one that would be of of great concern to them of course as well as the enormous debts the these were penny pinching man would not have been happy with with deficits that run out of the way we have in recent years never enough time to talk to can Davis the author of the series don't know much about history and then so many more books after then probably working on another one as well enjoy your fourth of July holiday can Davis always good to have you with us when I'm working you're right along side hi I appreciate looking back at whatever particular holiday we are observing it's always a pleasure for me one and if you're interested in the other signers of the declaration is we don't talk about them I right about all fifty six men on my website which is don't know much dot com you can find it there so go pursue happiness now you too can Davis with Warren peers look who just walked into the studio none other than Emily Gail we'll find out how she's doing after we find out how you all are doing on the freeways and surface streets with none other than Lena segmenting the motorist behaving themselves at this point on a holiday Thursday morning "It just two days ago. He said, look everybody's making a big deal. They went from impeachment to Trump dot on the polls internal polls, he's going to lose weight too early for that. Here's your forecast throughout most of the week, east of the Mississippi. We've seen showers. Scattered thunderstorms or showers connected with a frontal boundary rains will continue today from the lower Ohio valley up into the midwest and northeast Knoxville, Tennessee will start drying out later today, and that system will move onto the northeast as the weekend approaches Louisville Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Columbus, Ohio, all set for showers. Today out west things are dry as the desert southwest and southern plains. This is the last Thursday of spring, twenty nineteen. So we've got a lot of spring showers for areas that have seen their share this week. Look for the risk of severe weather for the Carolinas northern Georgia, including Atlanta. And most of PA including the turnpike throughout the day, where the risk of severe weather is probable. There's a look at your national forecast from Red Eye Radio. I'm meteorologist, John trout. Widespread rain for the morning commute and that's going to last least into the early afternoon, showers tapering off leading cooler temperatures highs only in the low seventies Friday, a much different story with plenty of sunshine, highs in the upper seventies, probably our best of the bunch, as far as the forecast goes showers possible Saturday, but likely as we get into Sunday, the humidity comes back is temperatures warmer to the eighty so any thunderstorms do show up Sunday could have potential.
