The Hair Radio Show with Kerry Hines
Remembering Black Hair Care Pioneer Dr. Willie Morrow With Mary Reed-Johnson
"Am so excited to welcome back to the broadcast today. Our special incredible guest host, guest contributor. You guys know her from Hairhead Heart. Well, I am so excited to just to have her back to talk on this very particular topic that she does. It's really like a series that she does exclusively for us at the Hair Radio Morning Show. It's her 10 things you should know. So who gets the treatment today? It is a gentleman that we just recently lost. Of course, we're talking about the mega, mega superstar in the way of black hair care, Dr. Willie Morrow. So Mary Rhee Johnson, good morning and welcome back to the Hair Radio Morning Show. Absolutely glad to be here. It's always just exciting. I just appreciate you. Well, back at you. And we're going to find out all about what's new with you and Hairhead Heart coming up a bit later. So first, Mary, we just got to jump in. What on earth? Now, listen, I thought I knew just about everything about Dr. Willie Morrow. And just to tell you quickly, yeah, I had interviewed him like literally decades ago. We're talking over about, well, here's my age going out there, but about 20 something years ago, literally. And his daughter and I have been friends ever since. Cheryl Morrow has been an incredible beacon in my little life. And the fans, you guys have gotten to know her. She's been on the Hair Radio Morning Show many, many, many times. And that's her family and what they represent and what she represents. And she's carried the torch. I call her literally Hair Royalty. You'll always hear that. That's how I refer to her. Because to me, Dr. Morrow's the hair king. So I'm real excited. So I can't wait to hear what Mary Rhee Johnson has put together for us today. So Mary Rhee Johnson, take it away. All right. Well, number one, legends never die. So even though he's not physically here with us. We're starting at number 10, right, Mary? Yes. We're going to count meow. Yes. So this is number 10. Yes. In recognition of that, I'm going to say everybody's got to lay hands on CBS Sunday morning. There was just a small tribute to him. And I think that's him probably. Look at the July 17th, if you can find it. CBS Sunday morning. And you'll see a little bit about. Yeah. You can YouTube the guys out there. So yeah. Yeah. So I think that's always good. So that would be my number 10. But he had a lot of layers. So we're going to chop into some of those layers that Willie represented. And one of them ties into what you mentioned already about his daughter, Cheryl. So one of the things Willie had was a newspaper. And it was called the San Diego Monitor. And he actually ran it for many years. And then his daughter, Cheryl, took it over. So I think that's another interesting fact about Willie. Absolutely. In fact, the San Diego Monitor news that Cheryl does, she has taken over that, which has been incredible. And it's a great digital brand. I usually get the digital version online and read. Cheryl herself always has a unique way of looking at things. And she's been able to do some incredible things with this. And I kind of always think of her as kind of almost like the same as the story with Matt King Cole, and then you got Natalie and her success. That's what Cheryl has always put me in the mind for, lack of a better, different way to say it. But that's what she's always put me in the mind of, just someone who carries the beacon on from a very successful dad. So this is the type of thing. And you don't have to always come from royalty. I'll say fact number eight would be that he came from, now he had two children, but he came from a fairly large family by these standards. He was one of eight children. Yes. And yes, I did that. From, was he born out in California? Oh, no. He was from Alabama. Oh, okay. Yep. And his mother and father, excuse me, I'm going to say that they would be the next one, number seven, they were sharecroppers. And you know what a sharecropper is? Well, I definitely remember, wasn't the sharecropper the folks who, after slavery ended, maintained the land for people to have firearms and stuff like that? But tell us, yeah, tell us what your research revealed. Well, that is exactly, so his parents, like he created a legacy in royalty, but he didn't come from that is what I'm saying. But it doesn't matter. It's like if you are of sound mind and have intent to do better for the world around you, then you can. Like he didn't let anything stop him. Wow. Well, I'm just, yeah, I'm impressed with that. I really am. And to, you know, I have to say to hear so many incredible folks in the hair and beauty industry talk so lovingly of Dr. Morrow's commitment to the hair and beauty industry, and what he has done for so many, I'm raising my hand as well. He's always been someone that I have modeled my career and life after as well. And everybody I know, we all look up to Dr. Morrow, everybody I know in the hair business. So this has been, yeah, it's really big. Thank you, Mary, for doing this. This helps us to put his life into perspective. And we wanted to do that as a very special tribute on our broadcast.

Dennis Prager Podcasts
A highlight from Whats My Line?
"There are people in this country who work hard every day, not for fame or fortune do they strive, but the fruits of their labor are worth more than their pay. Portions of the following program may contain pre -recorded material. You are listening to the best of the Dennis Prager Show. Hello my friends, it's Labor Day and I'm laboring. Dennis Prager here my and tradition on Labor Day is to ask you about your labor, your work, what do you do for a living, and I have been just fascinated by your ways of making a living. We don't realize, none of us realize, because we all live in a small world. It's impossible not to. You know X number of people, you have X number of relatives, and that's pretty much it. Now we don't live in a small world intellectually or philosophically and the like, but we do in so it comes as a fascinating surprise and it's quintessentially American the ways in which Americans make a buck. So what I do on Labor Day is I invite you to call in and tell me what you do and it could be absolutely prosaic. It doesn't mean you drill for oil in Tunisia. It doesn't have to be exotic. If you are in a profession or a line of work which many others are in, that's fine. First of all, I love to talk to people, which I would think would be a fairly common characteristic among talk show hosts, but it isn't. It isn't, interestingly. Off the air, a lot of these guys are quite introverted and are not people -people. It's not an attack at all, just a personality. But I am a people -person. I'm a people -person. And I love to talk to people. I talk to people, as you know, I've told you, in elevators, anywhere. And so I love to ask people about their work. 1 -8 Prager 776, which translates digitally into... Translates digitally into... This is the official one on LesWatt? Yes. Oh, really? He prefers... My prefers producer this to... Oh, I see. Well, they're both good. I don't know if I have a preference. Isn't there even a third? There are several. There are several. No, no, no. I understand that. I understand, but there's no reason not to use them. So dear Francesca Morris, who has volunteered her time to work on this Labor Day along with the Induplicable McConnell, Sean whose name is spelled... That was composed by yours truly, incidentally. There are areas where I just don't like to boast, but that is one I am really proud of. That is the only piece of music I have ever composed. I didn't orchestrate it, I didn't sing it, but I composed it. So what do you do for a living? It's Labor Day, and it's an appropriate question to ask, and I have a lot of fun. So do you. Are you listening? And it is, among other things you will see, an ode to America. Because unless crushed, the spirit of people, and this would be true anywhere. It's a values issue. It's not a DNA issue. There's no American DNA. And so unless crushed, which is what happens in the vast majority of the countries of the world, people just will do whatever they do. All right, so let's begin with Ambler, Pennsylvania, and Hugh. Hello, Hugh. Dennis Prager. Welcome on Labor Day. Hello, Dennis. Happy Labor Day to you, and I'm very thrilled that I'm number one on the list today. Thank you. Well, that is something. That is something. But I was just going to... I work in a grocery store, okay? A supermarket, if you will. I work for Whole Foods Markets, and I work in the store in North Wales, Pennsylvania. Right. I'll say hello when I'm in Philly. Oh, very good. I know you come here often. Yep. And I'm a baker. I work as a baker there. I go in early in the morning. What time? I usually get there around 4 30 a .m. Go on and wait. So Whole Foods, which I've been to many times, but I didn't realize... So the bakery bakes what? Well, we do actual scratch baking in the bakery. We take items. We don't just open boxes and bake the stuff. It's made from scratch. And what's the stuff you bake? Breads? Well, we do breads, but mostly we do cakes and pastries and what you would find in a neighborhood retail bakery. I thought... Maybe I have it confused with another store chain, but doesn't Whole Foods tend... Exactly. See, that's it. Yes. But the nice thing about me, I'm a fourth generation baker. Wow. Okay. I'm 59 years old, so I've been doing this since I was 10 years old with my father. And what the nice thing is about working with Whole Foods is the ingredients I get to work with. Like, we use only real butter. We don't use any of the artificial short means or anything. It's all real... Let alone God forbid margarine. They got God forbid margarine. I got two, two, two. So that's one of the nice things about it. But I know like little retail bakeries, they can't afford to use ingredients like that. But at Whole Foods, we can and we still do. And that's why people say, well... All right. Now it's my turn to ask you some questions. First, about the hours. So if you report to Whole Foods at 4 .30, what time do you get up? Oh, I get up around 3 a .m. And what time is your work day over? I usually work till about 1 o 'clock in the afternoon. Okay. All right. So hold on. Wait. So you come home and you take a nap? Take a little nap. I usually... When I'm napping, I have you on the radio by being... You know, that's very sweet. So either I help you nap or I don't help you nap. No, but I get to listen to you every day because I usually leave like around 1 o 'clock. That's nice. really No, no, it is really nice. So what time do you go to sleep? Well, I try to get to bed by at least 9. It doesn't always work that way. Right. Especially with the Republican convention, I was really struggling. Right. And I thought, why don't we get the big speeches like at 10 .30 at night on the East Coast? I was like amazed by that. Well, they have to do that. Both parties have to do that. So let me ask you this. Are you married? Yes, I'm married. I have two children. So I assume your wife doesn't go to bed at 9? No, she doesn't. So this is just the way it's worked out? It's always worked out that way. It's very good. Like in other words, when she comes to bed, she's very quiet. She doesn't come in there and wake me up or anything. But we do have our struggles with that. Yeah, look, everybody has struggled with something, but you're employed. Yes, I am employed now. And on the love meter, loving what you do, 1 to 10 hate, 1 just love 10. What is it? Oh, well, I'm working for Whole Foods. I'm an 8. It's a really good company. That's really not. What is your most proud production? The most proud thing that I make? Yes. I tell you what, I really enjoy the pound cake and the angel food cake that we make.

"Hello, hello, to all those who do not know, one of the most dangerous, yes, we thank all those who do not know, today is a day of special night, where we are with various people, we are discussing with Andres, which are vacations, and for Andres to talk with us, Danny or Dan, etc. And also, we are discussing with Emmanuel, who is also with us, and we are discussing whether or not he is with us, and whether or not he is with us completely, right? I'm sorry. Hello, hello, hello. Ah, hello, he is with us, he is with us, and as invited of the night, he is with us, and we are also with him, David and Alejandro, and one of our patrons, as always, our new partner, Paul Reyes. Welcome to everything, it's a pleasure to be here, we are discussing Galatas 4, and I would like to tell you that there is a lecture of various versions of Galatas 4, and I would like to start, Adelante. I would like to know if it is a classic version, or a different one? Let's see, we are going to do the classic version, because I'm going to use the differential of the utility, a common version for the album, and what I can do, because I don't think that the production of the song, or the song, or anything like that, I don't have any problems, because it's not easy for Galatas to do it. I understand. I don't think that the version of the song is much better, and there is a version of it that I like. Of course, of course. Of course, because Pablo... Pablo is much better at the normal version, and Galatas, who is Francois in the song, but as always, the song is the version that is best for the album. You are to listen to the podcast. Yes, yes, yes. Let's go to the next live production. Think about it in a different way. If a father and mother, and two children, are their children, those children are not in the best situation that they are in, so they are in the best situation. Because they are the children of all the positions of their father. They have to be the tutors that are assigned to their father. That's why we say it with us, until we find Christ. We are like children. We are the children of the most basic and spiritual principles of the world. If, when it's complete time, the father is dead, he dies of his illness, he dies of a murder, and his son is dead, but his son is dead. He dies on his own, so that when we compare the liberty of what we are of the dead, we find that they can adopt us as their own children. And from the life that we are their children, they die of the spirit of their children, to our own creation, which is what we call the simple -sex -clamor -aba -padre. Now, they are not his children, they are his own children, and as his own children, they are his own children.

It's not ideal to start a tour like this, but it is what it is. And we're trying to be as positive as we can so we can make sure that we are okay. Because, you know, we're starting a new tour and just being kind to each other, positive, and make sure that we don't lose that spirit helps us to have a successful tour, I hope. I want to hop right into talking about what you and your family have been doing for the last year. So your husband is the direct hire. What section does he work in? Jason is an econ officer. And he took LWOP for the last year, I believe. He was on Leave Without Pay. Yes, he was on Leave Without Pay. And you guys have been traveling around the world, family of four, four backpacks all around the world for a full year. What prompted you guys to take off on this journey? We love traveling. Jason, before he joined the Foreign Service in 2009, he backpacked around the world for three years. So he was a dirty backpacker, basically. And I have just came out from Mozambique or maybe El Salvador where we met Steph. And we said we want to take the boys on a trip around the world when they are 10 and 12. It's the perfect age. They like us. They love us. They still want to talk to us and spend time with us. And they can carry their own backpack. That was the key. They can do their own thing. And so we saved up for seven years. We saved up a lot of points, credit cards, money. And we were just trying to find where to start. We didn't really have a start point and an end point. We just took the trip wherever we wanted to go. And we were able to go to 19 countries, starting in Tajikistan, which was our last post. We came back to the States in the other way. We went to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, spent five weeks in India.

Transgender Woman Demi Minor Impregnates Two Inmates at NJ Prison
"On my show yesterday we covered a story out of New Jersey, where two female inmates were impregnated by a transgender inmate by the name of Demi minor. After that inmate was moved into the female facility in New Jersey. It was as simple as saying I identify as female and they were transferred over to a female facility where later, two female inmates were impregnated. Can we think about how that can go wrong in more ways than just that? Now not only do you have two pregnant inmates in a New Jersey prison, but you also have two children that are going to be born into the world and under what circumstance. The circumstance of both of their biological parents being incarcerated, I'm sure these kids are going to be thrust straight into the foster system, and we all know what the outcomes look like for those children and how what the odds are for them being abused or even perpetrating abuse for them not graduating high school for them never seeing the inside of a college for them seeing the inside of a jail, developing chronic illnesses, being homeless, the likelihood is far higher when you are born under circumstances like this. But who cares, right? Because we want to validate and affirm people who are living in a delusion. And it's a dilution that should be taken seriously. Don't get me wrong. These people should seek proper treatment, but the proper treatment is not to morph the reality of other individuals living in the society and leave them to be victimized by your ideology and your dogma, and

"Always stay in effect. For situations like this, because. If you knew, wasn't ready to be a parent. Or parents, that's your option. Is to have an abortion. Because you really haven't thought this through. You haven't thought like, you know, if I'm going to give this baby up for adoption, if I'm going to be a surrogate, if me and my boyfriend husband whomever is ready for this child. And the fact that it's too children and see, we don't even really know if the two children are related. We just know it's two children. But let's just assume allegedly that these children are actually related. So you didn't have one. It didn't have to. You had to. And you put them in a suitcase. And just throw them in a trash. It's just like the other case I was talking about last time. Where she had not one, not so not enough for my father but 6 infants and a storage band. At some point, you have to say to yourself, stop. Let's get protection. Use protection. The texture is not always 99%, though. I'm speaking from experience. It's not always 99%. But if that's not the case, this is why you need to, this is why Congress needs to allow abortions. Because now you have unwanted children. And the thing is, we don't know if this person is young. We don't know what this person, it was not ready. So now this person's like, okay, I can't get in a bush. What if that was one of the options? What if that was one of the options that they wanted to get abortion? Because they are not allowed to get an abortion. They killed these two children. 'cause they don't even they haven't even spoken of the age of these children. They just said they found two little children and a suitcase. I ban this suitcase. So we just don't know what if. So what if this was the case in this the reason why they actually had these children and disposed them? Black they were garbage. Which is a fucked up reason to do this. But that's life. You know, it's just life right now. You know, everybody, life is not good for everybody. So they are making critical decisions that's causing love. We're just living in a time now where. You just taking it day by day because you don't know what's going to come your way. You know, you have to wonder if I'm going to live today or if I'm going to see the next day. Well, if I can go outside and get here, if I can go outside and get shot and get killed, whatever. You just wondering is so most of us right now, we want to live our life to the fullest in case it's our last. Because we don't know. We just don't know. But that's just like a real sad story to me. "Buy a house with no down payment, and the seller can pay money towards your closing costs, even if you have to give them more for the house, With these interest rates being so low It might change your payment by 30 bucks. And now you've got the seller paying most, if not all of your closing cost. Well, that's great if you're a veteran, but for those of you who are not a veteran, and you'd like to buy a house the same way there is a program. It's called the USDA. Rural development. Now don't get hysterical about rural development. The reason it's called rural development. It doesn't mean with his more cows than people. Let me tell you how the program works. There. There is some limitations to it that the veteran doesn't have number one. It's not for somebody making $300,000 a year. They figure If you're making $300,000 a year, you can afford a small down payment. So there are income limits where the veteran doesn't have any income limits. But they're pretty reasonable income limits. It depends on the county that you're buying in and the number of people in your household Now in some counties with if you're a household of five say you're a couple with three Children, you'd be a household of five. If you're a single parent with two Children would be a household of three. So depending on the number of people in your household in the county in some counties, you can go up to $150,000 a year and still qualify for the program, so the income limits are pretty reasonable. What's the second little hoop you've got to jump through. You can't buy a house everywhere. Under this program, you have to buy a house one inch outside of a city limit. That's why it's called rural development. One inch outside of a city limit, while some counties don't even have a city in it, so you can buy a house anywhere in that county. Some counties have a city in it. And maybe only half the county qualifies for this program. How do you tell? Well, number one. You can talk to a loan officer. You have them all sitting in the office there. 800 number is 3215555 will probably direct you to The Web page for USDA Rural development, the USDA Rural Development Web page has a map on it. You can even just put a property address in and it'll tell you whether that property is eligible or not. But it also has a map like maybe you will. In this county. You were looking over here. But if you went three blocks over this way, this whole area would be acceptable under USDA rural development. And what's so great about it? You can buy a house just like a veteran, no down payment. And you can negotiate with the seller to pay all or any part of your closing cost. So you could buy a house just like a veteran and not be a veteran, and the interest rates are the same. It is a terrific program many realtors to have never used this program. Many have never even heard of this program. We use it a lot. Every time somebody comes to see me. I put that address into the the Web page. Just make sure it's not eligible for USDA rural development Because so many people say, Bill, I wish it wasn't costing me this much I wish You know, I could get a cheaper amount of money out of my pocket. So the first thing I do is I check the the USDA Rural Development Web page and put the address in it. And sometimes I'm surprised, but you can go into their Web page and see where you're looking at. Every county has some area. Some counties don't have a lot of areas. Some counties have the whole county So it depends on the county that you're looking in. It's a terrific program. It's a hell of a way to buy a house and not need a down payment and get the seller to pay some of your closing cost..
