The Pentagon extending its condolences for families of the American soldiers who died in a helicopter crash in Kentucky, speaking at a briefing Pentagon press secretary pat Ryder said 9 U.S. Army soldiers died when two Black Hawk helicopters crashed last night. Glacier middle school and sea tag went on lockdown today after reports of a weapon on campus, the highland school district reports police searched the building and determined it to be secure. Donald Trump, the first former president of the United States to be criminally indicted. The charges today connected to an alleged hush money scheme designed to cover up an affair with an adult film actress. Olivia Rubin has a producer with ABC's investigative unit and spoke with Alex stone. I think something to remember is that Trump just the other day was speaking on television talking about this potential of being indicted and addressing a lot of the reports that perhaps he wanted to be arrested that he could have wanted to be perp walked. But it's important to remember that the former president has been drilling down saying, you know, I did nothing wrong saying none of that's true that he wanted to be handcuffed and that he doesn't see it happening. But of course with this potential indictment, that's where we could be headed to an arraignment. So that's something to keep in mind as well looking forward. Olivia, at what point are we going to learn what is in this indictment, we understand that his attorneys would have been notified that he had been indicted at some point when everything is unsealed. Are we there yet? Does he know what's going on or is it just in general that indictment has come down? It's a bit too soon to say just as of now when we might learn, of course, sources are telling us that right now everything's been filed under seal. But just as we learned earlier today from one of our former fellow colleagues here at ABC that's in addition to the role in the payments to stormy Daniels sources have told our errands and turkey that the Manhattan DA is also investigating payments to an additional former Playboy model who liked Daniels had claimed to have had the affair with former president Donald Trump. So what that really shows us here is just that we don't exactly know there are new developments. We know that this is what's being investigated, but where it goes from here, it's impossible to say for sure. Jump over to the hill, our Elizabeth scholz, covering the hill in Washington and this is going to shake things up as we were talking to Karen Travers about no matter where it goes. This is an historic moment. And this is unsurprisingly breaking down along party line ballots. We're hearing from Jim Jordan calling this outrageous. He is a big Trump ally, representative who has longtime called some of these various investigations into the former president witch hunts. And that's a lot of the sentiment that we're seeing from some Republicans, at least so far on Capitol Hill, representative Andy Biggs saying that this is an instance where no president has ever. There's obviously happened to no president calling this deranged, but then of course, on the other hand, you have Democrats saying it's about time representative Maxine waters saying she predicted that this would have happened and that now it is finally coming to fruition. Look, the underlying reality here is that former president Trump is still running for president. And he has made it clear that he would plan to continue with his campaign, even if he's indicted. So this puts a real kind of uncertainty and a wedge into the already divisive politics here on the hill. A lot of Republicans going to stand with the former president who is, of course, still seen as a FrontRunner. Democrats going to continue to try to make the case. This is yet another reason he shouldn't be their candidate. And of course, should be president again, they would say. ABC's Elizabeth schulz, along with Olivia Rubin and Alex stone on the indictment of former president Donald Trump will have another update in just about ten minutes from the network and stay with northwest news radio for the latest on this story as it continues to develop tonight. "You mentioned this story, the prison uprising, Mike spann, a former marine CIA paramilitary. For those who know nothing, give us the story of that incredible event and what that man did. Yeah. It is incredible. And so November 25th, 2001. Two CIA officers walk into this fort called calla jangi, which means literally like fort of war outside mazar I Sharif. Now, backing up a little bit mazarin Sharif had fallen to northern alliance forces, aided by our allies. Our allies aided by the CIA green berets and air force combat controllers and the awesome might have U.S. air power overhead on November 10th. Now, less than a month earlier, Mike spann had been one of 8 CIA officers who landed in the Darius souf valley, aboard two Black Hawk helicopters that had flown in from Kashi Khan about K two, a former Soviet air base that Uzbekistan government had given over to the Americans for this post 9 11 mission. So October 17th, 2001, they land at dropped into the unknown. First Americans behind America. So we are barely barely a month out since 9 11. Yeah. First Americans behind them enemy lines. Now there had been a CIA team called jawbreaker that had landed in the pantry of Ali on September 26th, but that was, you know, relatively speaking safe territory controlled by the northern alliance. But this was enemy territory, Taliban controlled territory. So 8 of them, four of them were paramilitaries, one of those was Mike span. So when paramilitary is somebody who's been seconded, usually from the military and is working in the CIA using their skills for the CIA. Yeah, usually they actually in the CIA sometimes their contractors or people who've been seconded and on some of the other teams that were actually serving members of the Delta force and seals. But the four paramount trees on team alpha were serving CIOs special activities, division. Scott spellman, who was on the cover of the book, he was later became very senior, it was the senior CIA guy on the National Security Council during the Trump administration. He became station chief in Kabul, but then a young officer, but already battle hardened he had been wounded in the battle of Mogadishu in Somalia in 1993. It was a guy called Alex Hernandez, who was the deputy chief, who was a sergeant major, gone full career in special forces and then joined the agency and two case officers, JRC, who was the chief who'd worked with the CIA out of Islamabad in the 1980s against the Soviets for the supply and stinger missiles to the mujahideen and David Tyson who you mentioned at the beginning who was with Mike span on November 25th 2001. So they're in unfriendly territory. This is the Ford of war, walk us through that event. So David was a case officer based in Tashkent and spoke Uzbek almost fluently. And so he's the linguist and the main linguist on the team, although JR, seger also he spoke diary, which was the sort of lingua franca in Afghanistan. But on that day, the team split, there's a big fight, a hundred miles to the east. It expected in Kunduz so the bulk of American forces are there. But the night before 400 Al-Qaeda prisoners had arrived on the eastern edge of mazarin reef to surrender, and it was extremely murky why they were there. They should have been surrendering in Kunduz. And basically, I mean, what I was able to establish almost beyond doubt is that this was a Trojan horse operation. It was a deliberate trap. Yeah, it was a Taliban Al-Qaeda operation to put pretend that for these 400 fighters had surrendered, but in fact they were made up remained armed. They sort of exploited Afghan custom to keep their weapons with them and they were planning an uprising. Because you can have lots of people surrender at once if it's a regular army during the Gulf War, we had thousands of Iraqis surrender at once. When it's irregular fighters, you don't usually get hundreds of them surrendering at the same time. It's a little bit

"To get notified when there is an appointment available so that the county public Health Department of them helped them get to the Sight of their vaccination when they need this in an effort to boost rates of vaccinations in the hard hit black and Latino neighborhoods, where Lightfoot says she plans to increase the number of doses for mostly South and West side communities, while partnering with local groups on a census style sort of outreach plan. Now it's a city government and with trusted local leaders. We have been laser focused on these disparities. Since the early days of the pandemic, we have gone door to door passed up, pp worked to educate and connect people to local health care providers tried to bust through miss so that we could address concerns with fax in the truth, and we have and will continue to bring testing to those neighborhoods most in need. And still, Despite all of these efforts, we have too many neighborhoods, a zip codes plagued by high case rates and soaring positivity rates. Now we have not been discouraged. Said. We have been determined. Determined to save lives. And as we enter this next phase of the pandemic response as we open up the vaccine to more Chicagoans, I am here as your mayor to speak another hard truth and implore you to take steps in our direction so that we can continue to save lives. We've been hearing about different regions moving out of tear. Three mitigation or tear to mitigation. But the mayor had some grim vaccination numbers today for the public vaccines came to our city six weeks ago. Since that time, nearly 108,000 Chicagoans have received their first vaccine does, but based on an analysis done by cph on Lee, approximately 17% Those people are Latin X and worse on Lee about 15% are black. Our city is two thirds people of color. And yet we are falling woefully behind in a number of people of color who been vaccinated to date? Those are numbers that simply cannot stand. Based on a recent survey by CPH, those that are the sickest meaning those who have the most severe underlying conditions who need the vaccine. The most. You are the most. Reluctant. Now we're sharing this data because we believe in transparency and we're sharing this data because we want everyone out there who was scared who is reluctant or just needs more information. For those of you are, hasn't it? We're here to tell you the vaccine is safe, and we want you to take it because it is safe and because it will save your life, So she's speaking there to the reluctance of people to go forward and get the vaccination. But how about the roll out on the other side? The supply side, she was asked if she thinks it's been too slow. I don't You know, I have to say when I was listening to you Ask that question. I kind of feel like the conversation of my wife and I have with their 12 year old all the time. I can't account for what's going on in other states. All I can account for what's going on here. What I know is we started preparing for vaccine district distribution. At the end of the summer, We started building out the infrastructure thinking through what to sequencing was going to be what we we need to do to make sure that we reached out to health care workers and the places that we're gonna be most challenging for us. So our issue isn't the process by which we're getting it. Our issue is we need more vaccine. If we get more vaccine will be able to accommodate everyone that wants it. And finally today, the mayor was asked if she would be open to teachers working from home remotely while their students are in the classroom. Well, I don't think that works, and that's certainly not the optimum situation. Look, we've had a lot of very productive conversations with the folks to see to you. They were bargaining literally every day over the weekend, all last week, every day. We're gonna continue to be at the table until we get a job done and get it and get the remaining issues resolved. Look, the reality is that in the course of this pandemic, there never been any easy choices. They just haven't been. There's no easy choices now, and I think in partnership with the CTU Come together in good faith. I have every confidence whatsoever that we would get something done. That obviously protects their members but but also gives families the options if it's right for them to be able to send their Children back to in person learning Yeah, we're we're in a critical point in, um our fight against this, uh, this virus. We're going to prioritize a number of different people. Teachers included, and I'm particularly those I want to give a shout out to Those that have been doing working a day cares all across the city since March, have been out there supporting Children and supporting families. We want to make sure that those folks are prioritized, but I'm confident we'll get something done at the bargaining table. Mayor Mayor life We're talking about the negotiations with the CTU, which will continue for Other couple of days later in the program, we gonna talk to Dr Judith Alan. She's the chief operating officer for communities in schools and what they do. Is they mentor with more than 60,000, Chicago public school students to sort of watch out for them. See that they're getting their meals. See that they're doing okay. When it comes to Life at home or mental health or keeping up with school work. They've got not just mentors, but tutors as well. We will talk with her about the mental health impact that students are dealing with is they stay home and try to learn just a few minutes ago. In fact, it's still going on the Chicago Teachers union holding a news conference and they like what they heard from President Biden earlier today, Biden said he thinks students to go back to school only if the facilities Are clean and safe. To what extent? Do you think that President Biden is taking sides for you and against Mayor Lightfoot? I think that's a bad read the president. The United States of America is not taking sides. 100 in the United States of America is prioritizing the safety of every stakeholder in every city and every state in this country. You know, the language of taking sides of victory of laws of competition are grossly misplaced. And, quite frankly, um, it doesn't have a place in this discussion. The Chicago Teachers union, responding to comments earlier from President Biden, Okay, So did you pay too much for college or your kid's college?
