After all once the land grab is behind you and the citadel's have been built upon it the emphasis shifts to the bustling activity within those structures in figure. Figure to below illustrates the shumpert. -tarian bitcoin cycle the bitcoin k. Wave is shown in dark grey. Bitcoin hoogland cycles are depicted in purple and the bitcoin kitchen cycles which correspond closely with having cycles appear in blue naturally. A dollar price as the unit of measure for the y. Axis can only be taken as a very loose proxy for the various drivers of the components of the shumpert -tarian bitcoin cycle especially considering the length of time a bitcoin cave wave covers however it is worth examining a few aspects towards the end of the first bitcoin wave all the cycles should converge. The idea is simply that. All manner of flows out of all kinds of stocks begin to dwindle as the fundamental drivers of innovation for the next bitcoin k. Wave begin to coalesce. A new suite of technologies have arrived for bitcoin. That will become the impetus for the second. Bitcoin k. Wave bitcoin is retained in inventories alone. For obvious reasons. And from inventories. Peter out to extremely low levels resulting in a stratospheric stockton flow asterik ratio all ratios will remain relevant in the second bitcoin k. Wave albeit at an entirely different order of magnitude. What lies ahead is anyone's guess. Just like the congress chief waves since the industrial revolution. We should expect truly transformational innovations affecting economies and societies globally in each of the bitcoin contraceptive waves. Perhaps bitcoin as the undisputed global reserve at the close of the first k wave then bitcoin as the basis for a global digital infrastructure in the second k. wave and it's hardly beyond the realms of possibility that bitcoin emerges as the basis for interplanetary transactions in the.

"A bitcoin story. Modern finance walking down the street yesterday in the east village. And i pass this little tiny barbershop and a huge sign in their window so that we accept. Bitcoin and i was what they do. That's so crazy though right like how. Do you pay for a haircut with bitcoin. You know what's even crazier in your nell salvatore. That's the currency question about that. How did venezuela not get there first It's just fascinating. It's not. I can only think it's going to go crazy. I'm sure kevin's talking quite a bit about it. Just struck me like wheat. How like how like. How much does a haircut number one in a little barbershop. Fractional bitcoin right. Ucla with a fraction of a bitcoin. Somehow the barber is Trying to jump on the the bitcoin just like does by the way. I told her not to buy doj and then like three weeks later. She made a lot of money on does she did. And you know maybe a hundred bucks or something but she said you're wrong. I said this to somebody yesterday. After i saw it and they said well. Have you seen the bitcoin. Atm that's on the east village. Like what does it spit out. What comes out of it and nothing bits. Nothing right money because it'll take bills and then you have a wallet and then it will transfer it to your wallet gotta be. This is why you have to listen to modern fans. You have to be careful. There are things called custodial wallets where you don't have the keys to the and kevin while i was talking with kevin hayes. That's a terrible idea. Don't do that there's all sorts of stuff. it's actually very complicated and navigate. And that's part of the problem. Is that you you get people like this barber. Jumping on the bandwagon. Yeah and it's like. Wow shave and a haircut. One point seven three four bits or eight points. Yeah point on one three two bitcoins. That's why it seems like a terrible currency to because wh what's the bitcoin worth today right. Yeah what's it worth this second right. No kidding so like say you pay for a haircut in new york like fifty hundred dollars straight like okay today. It's worth that yesterday. It was where something else. I mean to be fair. That's how any international currency exchange works that much by a huge salvador said it's their currency temper said yesterday like wall anyway. Sorry i'm got us way off track. But i was so stunned when i saw that. Sign yesterday what i can assure you. Local barber does not take bitcoin. In fact i'm not sure he takes credit cards. Find to be bizarre in this state. But yeah i imagine at some point. You know. we'll all have a little. Bitcoin our phone that we could use a little tap to pay. Why.

"A bitcoin. Bitcoin is mind. So it's mind on the blockchain so all these people around the world have their giant computers in like buildings in their mining bitcoin on the blockchain and every like i think it's once a day like point. Zero zero two bitcoins are released. And whoever's technology mining technology gets unlocks the next code on the blockchain blockchain is rewarded that bitcoin like there are people that are mining bitcoin in the garage and there may they used to be. They'd be making bank now. Everyone's doing it so bitcoin obviously like you get you get points as one bitcoin for spending all this energy and also bitcoin so it has to be unlocked. The big through the blockchain with all these miners well. China came out and banned bitcoin. So all these bitcoin miners went to china because it electricity is not very expensive there and their mining bitcoin author computers. Well china just made it legal few months ago so they kicked him out now. they're going. i don't even know where they're going. Well but so you have you have you have. Bitcoin has to be mind. And then you have. It's very dirty. So when i say dirty it means i mean like taste a lot of energy to come from it comes from coal yet especially in china so it's not like it's this new green agenda like from its biden's the us president like there's nothing that's not going to be green like we have a lot of energy conscious people. Are they think they are in the white house. They're flying on their private jets but they want to like we're living in a liberal area era of green agenda. So why why would you. How would bitcoin be the future. If it's the dirtiest cryptocurrency and it takes all its energy takes like a village of the equivalent to produce one. Bitcoin one. Bitcoin is literally like a village in like a good size country. Like it's schiller of energy energy electricity and then you have other coins ripple our pre mind so it's just a matter of ripple out there and you either have it or you don't so there's there's no energy and mining it and a transaction speed for bitcoin thing is like ten minutes or something and ripple happens in four seconds so this is also why internet why it is internet two point on which i got on board so i'm like i'm in the financial industry. I sell mortgages. If you want to buy a house you are wiring your money. Your fifty thousand dollars down payment or your y your pay the house in cash..

"The good news is well. Not a great deal on good news, a not not a great deals actually occurred across the markets of light. Today. We've actually got a little bit of take in what's going on with Bitcoin and the rest of the market. We'll talk you through a couple of things. I'm saying right now. There's not a great deal within that. Top Ten buffet looking at Bitcoin now look the whole week last week. As today is Monday. Obviously, the entire wake ended up closing down half of one percent. Now that's not much. Not much at all and the entire range, and he he's what's interesting. The fact that it close down half a percent. Look that he's a little bit interesting on expose, but it's more about the entire range of that candle that the range of that entire candle. Let me tell you what that is. It is from it's hard to. It's low, roughly calculated their. Seven point three six percent. Very little indeed now. You think that's still sounds like a lot and I. I suppose the IT sounds like a lot, but you know you go back to the wake. Starting was early June first of. That was a twelve percent week. Yeah, we'll look at last week. Even last week was a little bit big. Not a great deal bigger eleven percent there as well. You can't okay going. Back to the end of my, we had thirteen percent week and we've the wakes that we see. Also of between usually ten and twenty percent realistically, that's what we that's what we see. The vilatility has dried up for the Hong Bang on Bitcoin. Now yesterday we closed down point seven five a percent today without point nine does not a great deal going on he in this market for the time they were one thousand, three hundred and. Seventy took a kite. So north thousand three, hundred, seventy two. Bitcoin right now now the positive is is holding its ground. It's holding above nine thousand, having too many issues holding of thousand and it's grinding. You know it's just hanging in there. That's a positive thing it. It doesn't site too much full whether we can your high or law at this stage the weekly. Look it's back in. That cradles I. Know It's looking a definitely. Definitely more bullish and bearish on the weekly timeframe, and I'm looking at as I speak to you, but it's a little bit more convincing for me to to really say this market take often do well a theorems that are pretty good diet cost talk tense up the most two point, five percent up two hundred, thirty three dollars, or seventeen sense now theory and loss. Really Nice quickly Cana. By the way, it's a really really really really trendy so theory and looked a lot stronger to me than what Bitcoin does for. The Time Bang lost weight down one point six seven percent not huge cannon NAS pullback. Cradles looking very very good. It's a two thirty three is up two point five six percent eighteen point seven percent off point, one of the percent rotten lost weight once guy. It was down down two point. Two five percent excel pays actually looking bearish It's looking bearish to me. It has been for quite some taller rolling over at the moment on that weekly timeframe, but again we need to say when eighty see above twenty cents again to get that momentum. Moving would be a really really powerful thing, not much going on for up. Hey, right now, bitcoin cash to sent up right now at two thirty seven fives, interesting bitcoin cash Theory by very similarly similarly similar I can't talk. Signed Price. It's up Senate to thirty, four, seventy five lost weight, just talk to the weekly a dying. We would down three percent on the best up one point three four percents tonight, one, seventy, two, seventy, five, a bright down through some support loss weight loss weeks down full point ignored percent. It's holding below that that level that one seven six a couple of support resistance levels around here. Look don't really shot that I'm looking for opportunities on right now. Because I just don't see the trend banks strong enough the daily nineties down, but it's not strong, still very solid, wise lot, coin, solid, wise one point to set up at forty three dollars and fifty cents. Does that represent good value Guy Looking very similar to that of exile they were. We don't have that strong trend like we do with say ethereal on the fifty three cents up exactly one percent and loss week it was down, but only down to him again, just grinding at going their bonnets very slow wake as well it was down three point six two percent, the sixteen dollars and sixteen cents up one point three percent when I say how. The since the purchase of see 'EM, say bond hasn't really done a great deal. Positive for itself as far as price goes The market doesn't seem to be doing much on bonaventure at the moment Kadhafi up two percent right now still in that strong uptrend. The weekly yet it closed up up two point two percent weekly Chat, looking very very strong dial job still hanging in that not much going on at seven point, nine cents does up two percent, a theory classic, very very slow wake a guide as I'm sure you probably will away down one point six percent sitting at six dollars twenty four. Point seven percent today again. It's a very very slow shot tron. One point five nine cents last week. It deploys down Anita. Percent Died. My view right now, is it? A theory is the best looking shot out of our top ten right now. That weekly chart is really really daily I WANNA. See it captures some mole momentum. WanNa see the high timeframe start start the mid timeframe trend a little bit better. We've got high alone a high a high now on a theory. If you WANNA have look five shot at there at the moment, we'll tell you what it is. It's It's lot co also blocking. It's China link. Child Link Perpetual, so that's a futures contract. They're gonNA have a look at that on earth ticks shot beautiful, little breakout this morning waiting for pull bikes that really nice looking trend there on that four hour the dailies now going to self in an option, and it looks really really good for move. If I look at the weekly as well it's was bullish Cadillac six percent last week. Bullish candle in the criminals are in broken hot today, a runic look set for a very strong mode, so my view. Ma Positioning right now to be watching link very very closely

Yeah so anyway to tip. That direction is to switch exchanges to one. That's the business and not joking around a necessarily I it. It might make things for them for the bank. Thanks a lot for joining really really it was a pleasure great seen again in Malta. In Stockton I ques- discussion. So there was guys enjoyed that one. I did learn a lot and yeah. Adams is very much impresses me How he can pivot between the economic issues finance issues and then of course the technical issues so very interesting for me. It was for you as well. And then if you WANNA stick around for a bit more Similar topics but definitely more top level. The coin That we did at the conference care. You Go Again it's fifteen minutes at this. "They worry. That Might not like it if the privacy was and so that makes them has the no because they don't want to feature because they worry if the regular don't like it would make it harder for banks to retain banking and then it makes it harder to buy bitcoin in a way that might affect price so that comes to the digital documents. Say you know I mean the hands. There are like some decentralized waste trade by claim like local coins the cash trading protocols using Tele v Rency and even like trust loosely so atomic swaps trades on liquid the liquid swale tool but she swap telephone bitcoin and liquid format without without middleman and thermally exchanges side. Now the other way to to affect things in the right direction as to vote with your feet and they can exchange. That doesn't take a heavy handed approach to taint tracing now. I think the exchange President GET SQUEEZED BETWEEN THE BANKS. The bank saw or regulates exchange that just worried about retaining banking service. Maybe time exchanges will buy banks and then ability to operate anyway Exists is really just the bank looking at the risk profile right. We have to deal with the hassle of the amount of disputes and queries. Though this business operated this business client of an exchange. This is the rest of the business is how it's laid. They CRESA Emini spoke questions that it's not worth. It will cancel the account right. So it's not really a direct concern. It's just useless. Facts that concern. And that's what these changes have to live with. But as we get more direct critic friendly banks and exchanges owning operating being banks maybe that receipts as well and I think a lot of this whole question really will stem from how how effective bitcoin can really penetrate the mainstream and really be shamelessly used in transactions because if it can then clearly you can do whatever you want when you make those Those payments but if people want to back and forth you know to government Fiat then at least for now those are the people that make the rules and there's the people that come down hard on exchanges I mean does I guess what I'm saying is it's kind of like come minus can come and go rent saying if one country says mining is illegal. Well they either stop. Will they go? Underground been keep mining and then there's a mouse game what people try to like Governments TRY TO FIND MARIJUANA. Grow is by the heat footprint. They'll be trying to find mine if they've been in a country but it doesn't stop and it continues in other countries. I. I'm just meeting in the sense. That equipped crypto exchange. The doesn't have you know the this using Taylor for example all using different people. Use Ella things right sometimes local. Bitcoin is as papal against policy like mislabeled payment. They have tremendous gray. There's lots of ways to defects a transacts with a without a direct bank account of is is friction right but Effectively if there's a demand people whoa transacts and say this is a long list of exchanges and has been at the time of changes going out of business and many new changes the sprung up. Say I think he uses could usefully be multi running about which exchange us if some of them are pretty heavy handed in trying to go way beyond what the regulations even required to. I try and keep the bank happy and if they went. They won't get the indication that they've gone too far on the uses like leaf concussion other exchange say if uses exchanges which balance on that if that makes those exchanges banking relationships with staple by could be a custody business. I mean suddenly people will operate AIDS exchanges in China for many years where it was super and Claire Regularly and they had to squeak keep switching bank accounts and Stein Your Business entities to bank accounts and things like that Wa- today moderately mainstream exchanges. Swimming like Madeleine's eighth said that US against good experience. The scope for reasonable service without being unreasonable now and there are some aspects of saint tracing which might be occupied useful. Which if there is a direct theft from an exchange or something to report those as stolen. Fact can defer theft a little bit. If you can't easily if exchanges you would typically take them to to converse or reject them now you get stuck holding coins hot spent so. I think that's kind of the thin end of the which if you like and that arises because of the lack of Crypto fungibility that you can identify them in in the old electronic cash systems like Branson Shwim that'd be sacred fungible. If they were stolen the game you wouldn't be able to tell them from any other coin. Siwan things start on the slippery poff. Bassani these things close your account if you put marijuana online which is even legal in many states in the US and other places or if he is the online gambling site of. "Was a some kind of full happened in some coin opponents update or something and it was still mantra math hash rate burning money so he would have no value because being valid after that point. Simply because you didn't touch the configurations and they were pointing defunct pool. That was running unmaintained and this thing was burning thousands of dollars a day for months. Say It just illustrates how you can have unintended systems. So if anybody accidentally ends up economically depending on them they're going to have a bedtime say. Soft transition is useful so that people have a long transition period went also continues to work but it's security assurance level drops off over time. That's all very interesting. And I think it probably goes for the casual observers well in tandem with people that you know warn of dangerous of quantum computing or things like this which are sort of unknown and far out and if something like this you know quote brakes anyway. There's a lot more computer systems around the world that are going to have problems than just bitcoin. Which I think is still the same we can say about hashing correct. I mean the different types of our rooms are more affected by quantum computing breakthroughs. Say Fuss thing to say is the personally I think. Quantum computing is may decades in the future at least in a scale which would be threatening to today's used algorithms in in Bitcoin and of a Internet systems. It's always a buzzword though. Yeah while it's It's it's the research topic I mean the sample if you look at the rate of progress it's increasing in the number of bits like we're out while like fifty plus bits now off to some decades of intense. Artie and people with specialization. In this area are saying that it's going to need one to three million bits to To present a credible threat to today's apply Criti and and there are a lot of the headwinds LANC so they can be unstable so they have a while they operate and as soon as His the competitions failed. You needed to be enough and presumably the currents tends to be made worse as you have more bits and because new technology the clock rate will be slow and nauseam advance process as current processes current Just insanely foster undergone decades and decades of Mosel say even motor besides conce computer. That was real would be outperformed by the extremely high speed density of current classical computers. Anyone you get to a really big quantum kids start to win and so you really talking about boating. Quantum computer that is enough and enough and that is even billable. Too careful like become gains from tangled state site. The people who are more explained that me. I'm not an expert in the a quantum physics and quantum computing but just operationally. It seems like but nevertheless it's People like to think about bitcoin prolongs. Emc confuse positive in the people looking at it from a digital perspective on Cape by if a polk these coins today as a as a long term will it be safe in twenty years time and now I think the answer is yeah. It'll be fine but it's now it's good that they considered the question right Now I mean the thing is that as with hashing used by the signature of rooms changed say hashing itself is not that much adversely affected by quantum computers saying purple book is not that much affected. You can just double the key size. In annual in the same position today and way have more problems if if a computer was succeeded speedboat for decades and Fuchsia is the asymmetric rooms like digital choose. Ucd ESSAY RSA and things like that And but they're all solutions so that off a pus quantum and six hundred rooms so which we know about today. Actually one of the oldest By Leslie Van. Poor it's imposing churches and it's actually the same computer science offer as the Byzantine generals problem and so a reason to not like immediately adopted today and these these were published in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine how will be and the publicly secure and usable on episodes obscured from big kilobytes posing and the and is no pressing need right because we can change things we could change. The jobs provided the the opposing with the keys is accident. After upgrade the software and the coins with say five years notice than I think. It's fine a reason to not doomsday of problem. Size is likely more compact an equally secure quantum's signatures but that's an exit area term research so we don't know what they all yet there's some contenders but it's active and it's not clear what things will stabilize on so we're place to just wait for the As quantum research trucks to arrive at a size flying and widely considered to be secure as quantum suggested. Rhythm there's more compact and then at that not a topic we Typically talk about on the show but interesting very interesting to your thoughts there. I WanNa keep moving then with some technical things or views on some some of the technical structure Last interview we did was with Amir Taki creator of the bitcoin. Early bitcoin developer. With quite an interesting story now we also interviewed Eric Vasco a few years ago currently maintains the Bitcoin Eric In particular expressed a need for redundant implementations beyond Bitcoin core. Does bitcoin need another implementation force safe redundancy and obviously asked that because we know there have been plenty of alternative implementations contenders from x t and classic on. There's still plenty of others that run today yet. Ninety five percent of notes run BITCOIN core. Is that a good thing in your opinion or do you think there's anything to this sort of an implementation. Gains a larger share is that that's been discussed. And that exposes people's minds saying in as a as a decentralisation metric let's say or as a kind of control concern that developers could control. I think there's some economic policy and thinking developers could control. Yeah just Just interpret there. I would ask the question. More in terms of redundancy security not in terms of any control. Don't Ya some in redundancy for security Definitely a topic was told in computer science when I started the spatial systems that they would have. Three redundant implementations in different languages and take a votes for example. And whichever to one they will consider that violent and hopefully that would use the chance of the special having a failure in flights but so it's interesting badly systems were talked about in in Hush Lawrence things like like control spacecraft in the actually. It's fallen out of favor. Academically more recently side as more recent research in mission critical software failures by NASA which is actually does redundant systems are worse than single systems I think and I think that's even more accessible in bitcoin. Because of the Consensus Creek Kelsey Barron Pack. Some of that stuff saying So what one astros basically saying? The the system is actually more likely to misbehave. Act Unpredictably in some areas of its flight inputs and outputs if there are multiple implementations voting than if there's a single well-tested implementation in their experience and then and that's just like statistical observation. That seems to be the case. It says complex system outcome Papers on it which we could put links for but that seems to be the accepted wisdom the Ashley Barrel to wall test and try to symmetrically define very far as much as you can about the software and then in Bitcoin that's another problem which is Consensus Creek County. So that's basically saying a it's less important. If there's a minor bug will surprising semantic that wasn't understood in the in the kind of SPEC as is respect being approximately what people expect the software today because there is no foam respectful for certainly many of the aspects of Bitcoin so the code is the SPEC but there are aspects of the code that had surprising behaviors that people didn't realize for a while and so sometimes they'll have been sort of Mrs. Their fault fewer software defects in Bitcoin. Today I would say than in the very early days but there are a couple of MRS L. Even bitcoins history where those actually incompatibility between different versions of the Clintons even the same software.

"That I like to make the theorems in the academic world of cryptography are very different from the theorems in mathematics or the assertions in physics or engineering. He went on. This is not him speaking anymore but he went on to say you know. He's sitting several floors above ground in Manhattan. He's reasonably safe. Feels reasonably good about the Engineering Principles. That are applied to the building that he's sitting in but then again. This is Stuart speaking. He says quote cryptographic systems of all kinds are built on assumptions about the properties of the one way functions and Hash functions and the encryption functions and so on that are part of the system. We don't know those to be true. So the immutability of records depends entirely on certain properties of Hash Functions Hash functions. That were deployed years ago can now easily be attacked so a question that's gotten. I asked a lot in the very beginning. Was what happens if you need to swap in a new presumably stronger hash function into a system? That's already been deployed and that already has several of records whose integrity depends on the use of Hash functions from some years ago. So I think a couple of things to take from that Again I know it's a big quote but I guess let's just pull out two things first of all what about the integrity of the cryptographic one way. Hash function and the number two. What about updating those Hash functions in Bitcoin? If need be it's interesting. I mean Hash cash side from looking at I mean. In in a technical side they use case was the Anti Spam FAW ON MT providing systems. But the the thing that I happen to be looking at the time was Hash Collisions and then tried to engineer them to have variable difficulty to construct have a fuck. Say the co-signed that's that's Kinda Topic in a way. 'cause it's about proof book But the now if you if you look at the mathematical construction of Hash Functions. They're trying to achieve multiple related properties. The one way property is saying that if the If they have been hashed is unpredictable. Enough so that you can guess it an check your gas so you the space of possible messages larger than your ability debris fullest Ben. It's is going to be difficult. You'RE NOT GONNA be able to mathematically invo the function and he's Roy the the common hash functions on Alz mathematically oriented this symmetric key base. So that basically now actually. Akilis Based on Asymmetric Chritsie site. They just Munching the bits. Basically and it isn't true. It's if you will be able to make sufficient mess that it will be hard to go back because you know if you just take bits of the message and shift the Min. Xl them and ask Pfizer but at them like a piles of different operations and move the bits around that you could make a deterministic process. That would make a huge mess and then it would be. It's become harder to get the day of back and I'd say the the bigger the hottest thing to assure as the collision resistance in who you will you. Also that Astros is also trying to provide collision resistance which say should be difficult to find two different messages the pro that result in the same hash. Ms Because people want to use them as a secure check some are saying they want to be able to say has a message. I've stoled on his Jackson. And if you write the check some time you'll be able to verify that it's the same message things like that and they're also used in digital signatures because things is typically really signing the check some another message at so say Collision Resistance is harder to achieve. Because if you mentioned you go. This deterministic munching getting on for the white proxy. If you're not careful you will actually destroy their ever right. There and the possible permutations will decrease. If that happens it will be easier to get a collision said trick is to sort of preserve the number of states. It can be as you'll doing the munching. This is all very informal. Talking by the way this terminology for this thing and is a sub field of applied. Cryptography that there are people take get very specialized in probing the limits of security of Hash functions and symmetric ciphers which is related and. I'm not personally a an expert in that but I've implemented like sheltie five Sake Shaw one and have have a kind of mathematical intuition full. Approximately doing and specifically how they work operations using stuff. Say It's this is GonNa like simplified explanation So I think that's that's the interesting. They the quiz resistance. And if you compare the collision resistance since prefer work which is excellent. I went through with hashish. I first attempt which actually Hash Gush vizier used for. Usa is to try to find collision so like to Hashes the all the same output in a certain number of bits where one of the Hashes is restricted in some way so that you have a free choice. There's a type of attack on Hash functions which surprising the birthday collision which is it arises from the kind of Statistical surprising fact. That if you if you have a group of people and you ask question how many people you have to have to be a fifty fifty likelihood that showed us they the also is I think twenty three but that's a surprisingly no number but it's because You know the puck mutations built up as you get more people that are compatible with them and say if you WanNa think about a hash function the same way that if there are if you're allowed to compute many messages it can make a big table of the mole and then you'll pro bowls you're finding no issue message. You add the probability that it will collide refund. The existing messages is GonNa get increase over time so so it gets more efficient to do that than to find a message that Hashes to a specific number or something so full approval. I figured you probably don't want that. Because it could end up using memory will be less. It'll be more complicated slutty or expensive verify. There are ways to calculate these without using memory cycle finding our which is a clever trick but anyway I the way I did. It was to restrict one of the inputs and a how funny is named comes up a couple times in the bitcoin space. This was how many in two thousand and two thousand one or something and Somebody else made the same suggestion that what what he used to Hashes. Why don't you just instead of trying to have the Hashes collide on it? You just have one hash and make it. Collided with. The string of zeroes is leading zeroes. Wanted as a kind of challenge you you produce a random number and then your challenge is to find another hash. The ashes of the challenge sign house. Observation was the another fitch allergies the spring. Zero's that simpler and somebody else. Also a guy called Thomas specially also made the same also vision about the same time. I quit certainly emailed the full to me saying I changed it to do that on. Its US will. Bitcoin uses as my responses sue. Now that that depends on its is still depending on this kind of Hash. Collision proxy technically is probably not exactly collision anymore. But you're relying on the Alpe the Hash function knitting to be hall to stats to Avoid Collisions. Hearts to steer well. So if you if you want it to hash to number you want to without you know. In a way more efficient than brief force he wants to be able to find some shortcuts. I well you know if I if I changed these bits of the input then and have pro bowl too. Great Fifty fifty. Okay in of getting the I want in that location of the output and say the twin resistant properties tend to make that hall to achieve or the woods ash function. The was double would be trivial to make cash machines to make decisions with the heart to stay a prote- a hall to get as specific prefix property at surely is very related with the collision resistance if you if you could more cheaply than force. Let's say fix the first half of the hash output to Xeros. Now you'd have a much Ask of funding collision in the Rest Library Fools. So that implies the kind of bidirectional implication if if it's if it's a Hash that's hotline collisions full it will be hot stare conversely if it was easy to it would naturally be a very good clip in the hash side. Because that's the relying on that kind of ought to stay kind of property People tweeted different things out. Alpa targeting things like that say is basically that you'll throwing coins looking for lots of tales of the beginning So I guess one interesting observation is the the Properties of cashman relying on. You're relying on twitter. Resistance sometime sorry tangled reliable. This is say that that means they hash functions of failed sometimes in some properties. But others say I think that I might. View is that has caches north heavily relying on all properties of the Hash function of Evenly reliable them say a hash function that for example stock touche shortcuts in funding bus. Collisions.

"We just assume the audience nice will fungibility is than a somebody with an attempt to trace something over something basically con because they can't distinguish one coin from Manila. So it's just complete robust indistinguishable says cryptographic fungibility can contain trail trek. If you wanted to kind of thing the same systems have these properties and and you know there were a few dozen other papers with which tried to achieve the same thing with different trade offs of different extra policies and they will talk it. That was the factual seemed idealize proxies for less than the cash. So then you know. Obviously people saw preview tempts at deploying electronic cash file a Jew to centralization say no startup will be owned it would operate one of these trash service and then it would go business and unfortunately way technology works as you can't offer them because of the Does new blockchain this new kind of public audit log that you can check? Everything is correct so you have to trust the central Paulie MELTSA crate. Jocosely create infinite massive cash and relying on them to maintain. Let's say a standard database all deposits. That have come in infinite currency and that they would only issue it exactly meshing amount of electronic cash. It's kind of like a stable Coin Fia coin today but you have to trust the issue towards it but if you trust that then it has these kind of big asymmetry extremely haughty socratic. If you don't have the case and extremely strong privacy and critique fungibility proxies say went. Bitcoin came along the pre cusses that tried to solve centralization failure that'd been observed in the mid ninety say off the. Hash crash was discussion about lessons. Learned from that centralized point of failure which we should try and make you try and design the custom that was decentralized when I say we I mean People Sipho punks kind of thing so on the email discussion list. They sent about trying to do that. And off the discussion. There were a couple of concrete proposals one. Cool be money by way and the one Co pickled by Nick Szabo and they include AIDS in a decentralized news by John General kind of consensus protocols and principal book to create the coins and the performance graded coins was Many people immediately after the Hash was discussed as a postage stamp idea. The digitals Guisti codes potentially solved the permission problem whence he to run one of these. There's still casts a cash service. You would need to punish it with a bind to accept a deposits and withdrawals and so on. Say the proof of work and be able to mind. Fresh coins from scratch was viewed as a way to operate with without permission and have a secondary market for them. But the the challenge arising from that was how would you know what would happen to the supply inflation in the price inflation So I think that was one of the main things that bitcoin fixed when bitcoin did come along as as an implemented system. I'd say that money. A big old. Maybe not quite possible. They had some aspects of centralization all human activity activity to make them function weapon national to mate or those things make insulin. Unintended fabric. Say. The question still was well. What SECURITY MODEL? Bitcoin and it looks very unusual to you. A A critical because essentially they. It's a mixture of sort of even. There's no advantage to tackle buses. The defender fifty fifty so you really need the defendants outnumber by economic effort the attackers and then some economic game theory. Which is the system is up so that you profit more if you Mine honestly to process transactions in progress the book chain that fell week because we used to like thousands of is he owns verses a few seconds. And now you have well Nanfei the good guys and the bad guys will just you can. We'll see what happens that that felt kind of security fragile and then the other criticism from people who were familiar with the most specialized area of applied. Cryptography cash protocols which I was amongst was well as credit fungibility a night privacy in more pragmatic limited forms of them citing privacy because each bitcoin address is not directly link -able but you do see the flows between them and you can have partial things about change gay mixed and things like that and then the fungibility is there is the fact fungibility but it's not fungibility. It's like do too unlikeable Might even be decentralized in that if one minor didn't press issue transaction the next guy would and there are lots of minors of different sizes and locations and opinions say Yes stat aspects. And I guess another topic you mentioned briefly amendment go was the mining centralization which which released into that say I think you can save. Bitcoin USES DECENTRALISATION. For two reasons one is for the defect a censorship resistance permission looseness that fungibility will be assured because some minus somewhere will transact technically if the miners get too big. And they're not welcome. They could be pressured into censoring things or this. More risk of that. And feel the point about decentralisation is that it provides survivability side cash company went bankrupt and it's they obey Disappointed when Bitcoin is. It's a it's a fabric that will continue in anyone. Mine Roy Pool or company can can leave leave the market and it went really affects the continuance of the system. So those people to permission list join leave and be interchangeable in Col- functions of the network. Good Saliva policy. Say It's I guess it's it that Problem if if the book saw if the Blokes Osmo enough that there are many people with full copies of the network. So I'd say the fungibility in Privacy. So the the fungibility guarantees on a more important of those two factors Valley's centralization the answer abilities adaptive say if it goes centralized on some points. Go show that other people would step in say. That's not so much concern scaling bills. He plays a bit of a Paul. Because if you have really large blocks like gigabytes then they'll be very few people who'd be able to have equipment fos enough big enough with high enough bandwidth to receive and process that in real time. What's mine on a progressive and say that could presents the liability costs? Which is a few big Paul is cut shut then. Maybe nobody left. Who can share? It has even a copy of the data say. Bitcoin mix more efficient trail by having skills. You happen on a Lancy. Basically which is a mobile computer science complexity. Friendly Way to do it. That's a really good overview. I think I even want to keep going on some of the CYBERPUNK technical issues of bitcoins construction because we interviewed Doctors Stewart. Haber in Scottsdale at a while back Fernando and myself Two of your co references institution White Paper. Co-authors CO references. We had a good discussion. And I'm sure you're aware of some of their concerns. Some of their views. One of Stewart's responses. I wanted to get your take about security in the hashing functions and technical things as well here is the issue of immutability from a programmatic perspective. His response was interesting and I think a lot of our listeners. Like me perhaps moderate on some of these technical things so just to make it clear. I want to actually read the bulk of his answer. And get your thoughts. Because it's a couple of things that can come out from that so basically we're talking about the immutability of records And using cryptography to preserve this and he said that just depends on quote the seemingly magical properties of cryptographic Hash function. The one way Hash function that is used in the blockchain now those properties of one way. Hash functions are not known to be true. In fact they are known not to be True Hash functions have collisions. They seem to be hard to find. But we don't actually know that they're hard to find an analogy.
