You Don't Have to Be Smart to Be in Congress
"You know, at one point I used to think, man, you gotta be smart to be in Congress. You have to be smart to be the president of the United States of America. Wow, these people that work at the capitol building, man, you have to be smart to be a senator. You have to be smart to do these things. And in reality, you really don't. These are some of the low IQ type people that you've ever met. There's no way Nancy Pelosi is a functional adult. She is completely out of her mind. Her face is twitching and balling up every now and again. Joe Biden is dead. His brain is dead. His nervous system is the only thing that's keeping his body moving. His brain is dead. And you go down a list of all these other people. Mitch McConnell older than a bag of rocks. I'll just roll up a lot of the burgers are so crying. What crack are you smoking? Tell me why this will be facing Ukraine. No it's not. But you know, his brain has had dead too. I think. I think miss McConnell struggled mentally. Especially for the stuff that he's been saying.

AJ's Take on Why Twitch Boss Killed Himself
"I'm going to go on record here about the reason why Ellen DeGeneres DJ named Twitch. Twitch boss killed himself by blowing his brains out the other day. All right, look, I never much cared for his role on the show when all he had to do was play a beat and Ellen with dance down the aisle of her studio audience and that shit was for housewives. If I were Twitch, I'd feel really foolish, pressing buttons, playing music for old ladies to dance to. But that's not why he killed himself. But eventually, Ellen made him an executive producer. And listen, making your black DJ an executive producer, which basically means a big bump in salary, it smells like her doing that because she wanted to be seen as someone who believes in diversity, inclusivity, and equity. Those three nasty words. You can't tell me otherwise. And honestly, Twitch was a dancer and a damn good one. That's how he got the job on Ellen sorman, so you think you're dance. And she wanted him as part of her show. I would bet you that he would much rather have been doing that. He'd much rather be in a dance troupe than pressing buttons acting like a DJ for Ellen DeGeneres studio audience. In a lot of ways, according to those in the dance world, Twitch kind of sold out. Now I can't blame him for taking the money and the exposure that The Ellen Show gave him. Other than the same thing. But there comes a point in your life when you'd better be using whatever God gifted you or you're not going to be happy.

"I'm not really sure what to say here. It's been a few days of really just sadness. Our friend Twitch passed away a few days ago. And if you haven't heard about it, it's been all over the Internet and social media. People talking about how he brought so much joy and light to the world. And Twitch did. I've known Twitch for 6 years. I met him in 2016. I had him on the school of greatness and we built a bond, a friendship, and it's been extremely hard for me. And so many people that knew him to understand what happened. I've had so many great conversations with other friends of his and we've just been connecting on the good times that we've had with Twitch and so many different things that have happened over the years and experiences the last message I got from him was a few months ago. You have to look at how Bezos treats the literally every single other product that he owns. He wants to maximize profits at the expense of the people that work there. And so if you're streaming for like 8 to 12 hour days, if you're freaking breaking your back, going to a Twitch con event, which is put on by Twitch to celebrate you, the Twitch streamer, you really got to think about holy shit. Does this corporation care about me at all? At all. It doesn't really seem like they do very much. You'll get some actions like Twitch recently after a bunch of creators spoke out about it, Twitch did ban gambling on the platform. You can no longer just play slots on Twitch, which was for a time, something you could do. But cool. I mean, I think that was a give me, you know? When it comes down to it? That feels almost like, you know when you see signs that are just like, you're not allowed to do X, Y, and Z, and you're like, that's weirdly specific. But then you know that's fine exists because somebody did it. That's how the banning of gambling on stitch feels like. Where it's like, yeah. But also why? Single out gambling, you know? Yeah. It was getting bad, like, gamble at casinos were beginning to sponsor streams. And I think they could just see the writing on the wall that this was going to be a bad scene if they let it continue. Entering the chat. Seriously, man. Sports betting was big. This all occurred because a Twitch streamer did also who suffers from a gambling addiction did also steal $300,000 from his friends. But not all at once. But like asking for. Okay, cool. For like $50,000 here. $50,000 there. As long as it's not all at once. Is it really that bad? You know? I gave him some money. Oh no. No, it all comes back to him. He's kind of, he's the hero of this journey of you taking me through Twitch. She's like Achilles in this way. Okay, so I think it's finally time to get into the news that broke through, I think most people's feed, the Twitch news of the current moment, which is amaranth, a Twitch streamer and only fans content creator who recently went viral. Could you tell us what happened? Because I saw maybe the third layer removed, which was a retweet of a tweet of a screenshot. Oh boy. Yeah. And I feel like I know exactly what screenshot you saw. Also. Probably. So Anne Marie, I think this brings together everything about Twitch that I was just talking about. So amaranth, number one, she is controversial because she is commonly referred to as a quote unquote TD streamer. So these are streamers where scantily clad, their scantily clad, you know, and they do think that emphasize their cleavage and people accuse them of only getting viewers because they have titties. play just dance a lot in like yoga pants and athletic clothing and she absolutely skirted the line of how much clothing you can wear on Twitch, but a bag is a bag is how I feel about that. Truly, how many, I mean, we just talked about how Hasan is hot. Like, come on. It's an opportunity part of broadcasting. You're attractive. I'm sorry. Like, come on, man. Yeah. So what recently came out, she was also really known as a very hard worker. She would stream not just for ten hour days, sometimes her 14 hour days. She did an interview with The Washington Post where she said she sometimes only sleeps for four hours a night. Oh my God. And she was doing another 24 hour stream and all of a sudden she went on mute for a little while and then she came back and she was putting on speakerphone her husband, which some people did not notice that she was married. She doesn't wear a ring or talk about being married on stream. Some people, you know, her husband was screaming at her, threatening her, gaslighting her. She broke down in tears. And then she explained to her audience, yes, I have been married this whole time. I want to stream with my husband 'cause our relationship is bad and he threatens me and he argues with me all the time and the thing that really made me feel like I had to speak out now is that he was threatening violence against my animals. He said he was going to bring my dog to the meatpacking plant. If I didn't call him on the phone. So she was not heard from for a couple of days, but she has come back and she said, she did a stream and she said, I'm seeking legal counsel and emotional counsel. I am safe and I'm really happy now that I feel like I'm free from this abusive relationship. And her partner, coerced her into streaming all the time. And it was also the reason why she would stream so much. The reason why she'd been doing a 24 hour stream is because she wanted to go on a little vacation, like go to Disneyland. He was like, you can't do that unless you do a 24 hour stream. Jesus Christ. You know, it became in that relationship a real vector for control because she was making. It's absolutely financial if you see also a control over her bank account, she had all the two factor authorization for her bank accounts tied to his phone, and he handled the login information. And so he would threaten her also with wasting her money on crypto, which is hilarious, a hilarious way to try to abuse someone, but also disgusting. Yeah. I'm going to say, I'm going to donate your money to this bird sanctuary unless you pick up the phone right now. And you would say he told her also, oh, I obviously do all the work as your manager. So if you leave me, I'm going to leave you with $1 million and then I'm also entitled to 10% of whatever you make for the rest of your life. All of this just makes the content in which the story crossed my feed so much work. I'm sorry. But a lot of people's first reactions was what amaranth's not single. How do I get charged backs for my credit card? Like, how do you hear that someone's being financially abused by their husband? And your first thought, which is how I saw this story was a reaction from somebody who I do not remember their name and I'm not going to direct the hate towards them. But it was somebody who had been following amaran. And was like, I feel betrayed that she's not single. My entire viewership was based on her being single. How do I get my money back? And I'm like, you're one takeaway from this entire thing is I was victimized. That's what you're taking away from me. Don't know how to explain to people, but if you're buying content on only fans, the person who is taking your money does not care about you. Why not care about you is probably not even responding to your message personally. They have probably hired someone to do that for them. This is like, again, why amaran situation really wraps up all the issues of Twitch all up in itself. Because there's also this entitlement issue, where a lot of your viewers felt entitled to her body, even while she was having this experience, you could watch in the video on demand of her chat. The chat was like being like, can you do ASMR? Can you get in the hot tub? You

Kinda Funny Games Daily

"Twitch is reducing how much money it shares with some of its biggest streamers on the platform. Right now, the majority of partnered streamers receive a 50 50 revenue share on subscriptions to their channel. That means 50% of net revenue goes to twitch, while 50% goes to the streamer themselves. However, Twitch has negotiated premium subscription terms with some bigger streamers that give them a 70 30 revenue split. And in that split is what's going to change. Under the new policy, streamers with premium terms will keep 70% of their subscription revenue on the first a $100,000 earned. But after that, the share will go down to a 50 50 split. The changes kick into effect on June 1st, 2023, and even then only when a streamer's contract with Twitch is up for renewal, according to a blog post from Twitch president dean clancy. So again, last night, they put out the good news. All right, gambling is done. Then in the middle of the night, they put out the bad news of, hey, we're not doing 70 30 anymore. Everybody's going to a 50 50 split. This is going to be the standard moving forward. Were you able to check out this as it was happening this morning? I woke up and I was like, oh, that happened because while I'm not a Twitch partner myself, I do follow a lot of Twitch streamers and they were clearly not happy about this and they have a right to be angry. Twitch tried burying that news right after they got some good publicity last night and it's not fair. I mean, Twitch is owned by Amazon. They make Amazon makes billions of dollars and it's just kind of ridiculous that Twitch is going to shaft its streamers like that. 100%. Yeah, it's fascinating because there's a lot to dig into. You know, I've been lucky enough to work with me Friends with the Andy Cortez is one that I've seen him try and fight for that better split on Twitch. Let alone like a lot of streamers on the platform and trying to fight for that better split because 70 30, I would think is a more standardized approach to things, right? A lot of sponsors sponsorships. A lot of partnerships of this kind seem more of a 70 30 split as opposed to a 50 50 split. And Twitch did put out a long blog post about it. Kind of trying to explain themselves. And reading through the blog post for me makes it even more interesting of a thing. So what I want to do is I want to hop into the blog post that Twitch, but I want to hop in specifically into a section where they talk about why not the 70 30 split. All right, so stick with me here. The blog post reads like this. At the time of this posting, more than 22,000 of you have weighed in on user voice, asking us to move all streamers to 70 30 in a pay streamer's faster. Let's chat about the latter part first. As you probably heard by now, we're in the middle of rolling out the largest the largest change to payouts in years by cutting the payout threshold in half to $50. This is an important middle step that will help streamers put money in their pockets now. While getting us closer to our goal of same day payouts and lower thresholds. Investments like these are paying off for streamers, products like prime subs, community gifting, hype train, and the ads incentive program to name a few have driven an increase of 27% more streamer revenue per viewer hour every year over the last 5 years. This means the same viewer hour now earns you three times more money than it did 5 years ago on average. Our investments into your monetization options have already and continued to put out more money into streamer's pockets than 20% more subs subs revenue share would have. Prime subs, often get lost in the conversation when it comes to revenue share. For prime subs, we pay streamers the same amount they receive for a regular subscription, even though it is included as an added benefit for their prime subscription. Combined with other monetization products, prime subs increase your effective revenue share by approximately 15% to about 65% total. This number varies by streamer size and location, but subscription revenue share is not the full picture on revenue share for streamers.

How I Built This
"twitch" Discussed on How I Built This
"On to become a half a $1 billion business. It took Tariq farid's foresight to see that opportunity. Now, say I had another idea about 15 years ago around video games. My idea to create a website where you could watch other people play video games. You might think that's a cool idea, but very few people at the time would have agreed. A wise investor might have asked, who's going to spend hours watching other people play video games? Well, we know the rest of this story because today, video gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry and watching other people play is a huge part of that. And Emmett shear, the cofounder of Twitch, had the foresight to build a streaming platform for those fans. Last year, gamers and viewers spent one trillion minutes on Twitch. And today, it's the biggest streaming video game platform in the world, with over 30 million daily users. But the idea for Twitch was, at the time, a gamble. Emmett and his cofounders had already built a live stream website called Justin TV. And they were starting to turn it into a social media platform, but a small, tiny number of users happened to be gamers. An Emmett believed that the future of the business depended on serving them. So in 2011, he started focusing the platform on gaming and changed the name to twitch. The bet paid off, just three years later, Twitch was bought by Amazon for almost a $1 billion, and Emmett is still running the company. Now, Twitch has had its share of controversy, but Emmett has always seen it as a community, works and all, which we'll talk about. Emmett grew up in Seattle, and his best childhood friend was actually the person he would eventually create a multi-million dollar business with. Justin Kahn. We actually grew up three blocks away from each other, like right almost next door. But I didn't know him until I was 8 when I switched to evergreen elementary, where he was already attending. And yeah, we met it in second grade and became friends almost immediately. And it's amazing because you would later go on to found huge companies together and you were like met in second grade. And we were like, you know, reasonably close. Maybe not in second grade, but certainly by third, fourth, 5th grade. We'd be over at each other's houses pretty often. I think I went over to his house more often two brothers and more importantly, he had a video game system. Which my parents would not buy for me. What did he have? If I recall correctly, it was a Super Nintendo. When we were and then later other stuff. So his house was the superior house for hangout because there was more. There was more video games. Got it. Okay. So you guys went to the same elementary school into middle school, and then you went to different high schools, and then you go off to college to Yale, and he does too. You both go to the same university, your childhood friend, like your closest friend and elementary middle school. And then you both end up at Yale. Yeah, was it just coincidental? Totally coincidental. No planning there at all. Actually, Justin had been planning to go to Wharton. And kind of changed his mind at the last minute. And so that was real happenstance. And in college, I think, surely reconnect to addressing it in a deeper way. One of the really interesting things was I found I liked his dorm, just had a collection of people that I really connected with. More deeply. More easily. And so I just wound up spending a ton of time with Justin, but also with all of his roommates. I was kind of an unofficial 5th member of the room. And when you got to college, I know you studied computer science at Yale. Did you have a sense of what you thought you were going to do? Did you figure, okay, I'll get this degree and then I'll go work for tech company. I actually purposely didn't take any computer science because I loved programming already. Like I enjoyed programming a lot as a hobby. And I kind of didn't want to ruin it by making it a profession or a career. And then it got to be junior year and I'd spent freshman and sophomore year taking entirely electives whatever I wanted. And I was like, I have nothing that resembles a major. What am I going to take another 11 courses in in the next two years? And I was like, well, I know I'm good at programming. I know it's something I love. Maybe I'll try taking computer science. And I almost immediately was like, oh, well, this was silly. Not only am I good at this, but I really, really enjoy the work is fun. And so then I just took 80% computer science for the next two years and finished the major. And while you were an undergraduate and you sort of got in with Justin's kind of cohort, there was a guy named Matt fong and from what I understand at a certain point in college, he said to you and Justin maybe others, hey, we should start a business. Is that what happened? Yeah, Matt, that's a really good friend. He was one of Justin's roommates, freshman year. Matt is my most like finance oriented of my friends. And I don't mean that he's interested in money. I mean like he looks at the entire world in terms of like, what's underpriced and what's overpriced? And what should I be doing based on that today? And he looked around in college, and he said, specifically not that we should start a company, but we have better access to intellectual capital today than we ever will in the future. At a lower opportunity cost. And so we should take advantage of that, which means we should start a company. I mean, he just, did he have an idea of what? Nope, no. Wow. So when he was like a 20 year old at Yale, he was like, hey, we're at Yale, we're surrounded by all these world class professors. We have access to these amazing libraries and resources, and they're just part of our tuition. Let's use it and start a business. Yeah. Wow. I mean, just to think about that, and this is like 2004, 2005. That's pretty, you know, pretty impression. Oh, he absolutely. I mean, Matt's always been a few years ahead of everyone else, I think, and while you were a college hanging out with these guys, presumably you've all played a lot of video games together. Oh yeah, a lot. What was your game? During college, mostly World of Warcraft, which came out my freshman year and is an incredible game that I played for the duration of college. And then had to get Justin when we were starting our company right after we graduated, he had a real talk conversation with me. I think it was very fair, which is, but I think you're going to have to choose the video game or the startup, which is a world of work after the startup. And I chose the startup and quit World of Warcraft, which I think was here. I think he was right. All right, so Matt had this idea that you guys should start a company while you're in college. And what was the next step? It was like, okay, let's start a company. Yes, that sounds great. What should we do? So Gmail, I just come out. Summer of 2004. So right before our senior year. I think we all looked at Gmail and we said, this is the future of software. Like everything's going to be like Gmail in the future. I think we could all just see that. It was like having desktop software but better. And what we did was we were like, oh, well, Gmail is missing a calendar. Like there should be a outlook as a calendar. There should be a calendar that goes with a email client. And so we started building it because that seemed like the right thing to do. And it had to look back at it and there are so many things wrong with the thought process we were going through there. We didn't know who we were building it for. We didn't use calendars. We didn't talk to anyone who used a calendar. We really didn't have any idea what would make a good calendar. We weren't, we weren't heavy calendar users. Yeah. And so there's a lot of reasons why I don't think we were going to be successful, but the thing we did that was super important is we just kept grinding on it. We kept working and trying things, even

"Will be required by law to report any ransom payments made to ransomware operators or their affiliates. And all operators of critical infrastructure will also be required to report any and all hacks of their facilities within three days. So I guess it's not surprising that these are not controversial. As a consequence, they are moving through Congress without much problem. As our listeners may know since it's certainly been in the news, Amazon's Twitch service was hacked big time. Last Wednesday, we learned that Twitch was suffered a major breach. And that they first learned of it when 120 gigabytes of their internal proprietary data appeared in a massive online torrent anonymously released on 4chan. Twitch said that no user passwords or credit card numbers were exposed. But if that's true, it was about the only thing that wasn't. They said quote, at this time, we have no indication that log in credentials have been exposed. Additionally, since full credit card numbers are not stored by Twitch, full credit card numbers were not exposed. Now the wording of that does sort of sound as though perhaps they have been keeping the last four digits, which is a common method of allowing a user to select a blinded card number. In any event, they said that they had reset all stream keys as a result of the incident. So those were lost to this breach. So users who stream to Twitch would need to obtain a new stream key from their Twitch profile back ends. And Twitch is owned by Amazon, so they said that while it's still investigating the breach, it believes the breach occurred due to a error in a Twitch server configuration change what have we heard about a configuration? Error in a configuration. It seems like that's always the case. That was subsequently accessed by a malicious third party. Yeah, no kidding. So the massive data repository which was breached contained the entirety of twitch.tv with commit history going back to its early beginnings, meaning all of its.

"Their listeners. It's mike schneider here. Welcome to talking tech. My colleague melina is off today. Today's news bite is also tech. If you're on twitch change your password and turn on two factor authentication were issuing this warning one back by cybersecurity gerbers because the streaming platform apparently suffered a major data breach an anonymous hacker posted and online link to publicly downloadable one hundred twenty five gigabyte file that reportedly contains the source code for twitches mobile desktop and video game console apps along with figures on what the amazon owned site has paid streamers for three years also part of the leak data on an unreleased amazon competitor to pc gave store steam based on the online chatter from various security folks and streamers who looked at the data it all appears to be accurate the leak data purely does not include which users passwords or address information but the league is labeled as part one so there could be more leaks in the future. Twitch confirmed a breach has taken place and said in a statement on twitter. Our teams are working with urgency. To understand the extent of this. We will update the community as soon as additional information is available. The anonymous hacker said. The leak was meant to foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space because twitches disgusting toxic cesspool in quote twitch users should change their passwords and enable two factor authentication on their accounts. This comes from acronym ed of cybersecurity firm checkpoint software he told us anytime source code gets leaked. It's not good and potentially disastrous. It opens a gigantic door for evildoers to find cracks in the system that means they consume our and potentially steal sensitive information. Initially i was not able to change my password. Whether that's a cause of the breach. I'm not really sure. But i was able to turn on two factor authentication which improves security by synthetic code. Usually through text or email or an app this might be smart to do a cyber attacks involving phishing attempts and mauer have increased. Forty percent over twenty twenty. Checkpoint has found and hey october cyber security awareness month so why not get into the spirit now listeners. Let's hear from you have any comments questions or show ideas any tech problem. "Torrent was labeled part want some users report that they've been asked by twits to change their password one would think all twitch users to change passwords annan able to factor authentication if you haven't already and now's the time which says it's working to understand the extent of the breach little surprise. I haven't emailed everybody. I haven't gotten Nice every day yeah. I think that's a little odd. Unless they knew of some specific cases or something and we don't know about that yet but it seems like something you wanna tell everybody in your service in fact i've found some bots that tie into twitch that have been like on the money today saying By the way twitch a major thing it has nothing to do with us. But we're going to recommend you change your password. So they're kind of. I don't know it's weird. Bought community is sort of doing it anyway or reminding its users and they're not on twitch or not told by twist to do anything so that's pretty interesting but this is really massive Like thomas saying this morning on For our tech segment During that conversation anyway we talked about how how big it actually is. And the fact that it's called part two doesn't mean anything or part one rather doesn't necessarily mean there's a part two or three or four But everybody who hears this or otherwise if you have a twitter account change your password enable two factor in case if you haven't and if you already have two factor authentication still change your password is just a safe thing to do But hopefully this the you know. We'll we'll hear more about this. We'll here if there's any anything more drastic about it. A lot of people are freaking out about the idea that all comment history for every video is in this export and i would say calmed down because it's not that big a deal the public to begin with i i feel like common. History is like the least of my worry. I agree if i'm if i'm active on twitch. Yeah they heater remember. In case you getting lost in the confusion here. There were no emails passwords addresses in this file..

We go which is employees. I guess somewhere on the internet or somewhere. Can we get the good soup clip as a good soup. Yes we fucking can hold them at my book here. Hold on. I love that fucking thing and here we go me. How's it feel being fucking dumb right good soup. I'm so fucking down for this book of commands grows could sup- grand total drum roll in the chat exclamation point drama baby go all in all which is nearly profitable all right one point. Eight billion in total expenses. Go one point five four to revenue. Okay okay thank you for that drum so looks like they're almost profitable but this person goes on to say something pretty interesting. Covert nineteen pandemic is a ton of new platform increased. The cost of content delivery digital advertising spend increased six percent that and the combination of twitch as being integrated amazon ads network may big things avenue such a likelihood hike all right hold on how much how much twitch revenue twenty twenty k. Twitch revenue usage statistics. here by. Why are we down this rabbit hole right now. they're not profitable. That's what this said. This is two thousand. Nineteen now cove in nineteen happened and we do know that went from six point five million view. streamers to nine point two million streamers and that data. If you guys are interested. i'm gonna to go to twitch tracker dot com so we could pull the data up right so if we go to stats good overview right you can see here twenty Okay so twenty. Twenty two twenty twenty one to six point nine. Unique streamers each month to nine million. Unique streamers increase the amount of streamers more views right and total It also jumps almost another million concurrent viewers. And then now there's concurrent schumer's one hundred nine million versus Do we have any more data. We do So yeah the numbers went up pretty high and you can kind of see took which partners has remained the same. That hasn't space a fucking love do is a great song that you make this playlists fucking dope by the way. I'm potato lighter. Rested you bastard guy who was educational. Didn't you guys know if you guys don't have a podcast where i love talking about this. Random shit negoti. Check that out. Spotify nailed it. The i remember things. I remember things sometimes by knows the interesting to me. The amount of twitch partners is not changed in two years. That's interesting to me. The average amount of concurrent channels has gone up a from two thousand nineteen. It's doubled so there's a lot more concurrent. channels average viewership is also doubled monthly. Broadcasters went from three point four million in two thousand nineteen to nine nine million on the dock basically but six million fucking news streamers originally started one. It went in a same time slot in five years to go from one point five to three point. Six two two million viewers and then a two year span. It's now six million more. Plus the new ad revenue. I create a couple of dmc. Free plus a senator. So i think this is yours. I think this one is yours. Check i can check on me on the check. This shit hold on tech. this ship. trim safe playlists yup. Yup i won't say your name out loud. You think which is a partner limit. They i mean. Here's the thing. We jumped six million if we look at. Let me get a little closer enhance from two thousand nineteen today. We've got nine million monthly broadcasters. So we we've jumped six million new broadcasters yet from two thousand nine hundred nineteen to now we're still at fifty one point five k. Bottomed out like its stock hasn't moved. That's not the same pace as the amount of actual people that have broadcasting so either. There's more broadcasters in less people to have the partner requirements that could be the case. I mean how. Many news streamers started off. They're just starting out there. Probably not even affiliate yet or some might be or it could be miss savage and they could be like a rocket ship. You know Being sorry miss your thing. Why are you so broke. Why do you have in vegas. How the hanger. Experience that i had. Yes i had a hangover experience as you tell. My voice is still gone being gay and on top of that my wallet. I'm pretty sure it's gone. I think that my liver is probably still in the hospital in vegas now. I got about ten hours asleep in five days. So it's it's. I'm not trying to humble. Bright browser has hit affiliates super-quick and amelie stagnated. No humble. Brags needed dude. I came from the gutter baby. It's like me so fucking long affiliate. Like but i didn't have. I didn't have any social media. The information previously estimated generated two hundred and thirty million and ad revenue in two thousand eighteen in about three hundred million to nine team Point one percent of amazon's revenue. That's from twenty twenty year end report. So they yeah. Well that makes sense. But that's only ad revenue we haven't taken into their sub count their bit the the my they make from bits. That's where it gets tricky. They only account for point one percent. I agree with that. Yeah so that's actually a really small number. And why are you guys. Keep okay now. Fucking potato kit. "Afford it. I know that good. I know they could so i think it's a problem for it. I think that if the money leaves twitch i think twitchell implement harder demands for people to make money so it's going to be self in a fuck everybody else eventually. I guess what. I'm trying to say you're the cut is needed. Just give us more more ways to make money. Yeah i think I think that's right you know we're not writing writing in here. We're not doing that. We're not writing crazy. Chris stealing shit. Somebody put her in the timeout zone. Now you're stealing from clued. Jesus florida girl. We get your girl. I think the split. I think a higher split would be more beneficial. I think eventually that works. Nobody move. Stay right where you are level. Be right back getting some pineapples. You know this if everybody tries to mega switch to trying to nations that makes it harder for anyone else you nailed it. You nailed it scott. That's exactly it if twitch ended up or of a lot of creators. let's just say fifty percent creators right so crazy all went to patriots or they all went to something else They're just make it harder. Like i feel like if that happened. Which affiliate wouldn't exist straight up. Snow wife to join a couch stole for myself. No southwards it's not works. Works no right like right now becoming a twitch affiliate speaking of which becoming a twitch affiliated much easier to become a twitch affiliate than it is to become a youtube partner. It's much easier than becoming Gaming crater on facebook And that's where you can enable money right so it's one of those things where eventually it's like. It does work it. Does you know like in. This case is an easier entry but to do well on twitch much harder which is kind of counterintuitive but like the twitch partner program used to be much harder than it was and so was the affiliate but there was less money to go around. So i feel like if we take once upon a time to so twitches never been profitable. Every year. they've lost money amazon. Could kill it anytime and save money. Is that true. Hold on as twitch ben profit abol can't spell switch profitable on once got. Let's see the sale pages closed direct pricing. Okay let's see. We got here media package media package pricing. Okay right now all right so in tokes comes out to okay. Here we go. Here's some numbers. I was up. She on how you doing but her doing sexy scott spot you're right. The requirements for monetization was much less strict on youtube back in the day level. Potato some bitch. I mean he do be potato some bitches. This is true All right so content delivery live Twitches total content. Delivery costs are thanks to amazon is bigger for everybody earlier. It was a launch the white label solution using the same technology powers for twitch sale page. So when which was bought out in two thousand nine hundred by amazon right. I'm doing a lot of stuff going. Oh man i can't stay with his top say Smooching appreciate you dropping in crease about the way. Congratulations on your amazing edits with mr bona fide. Hero fide makes the funny content. You edit them and you guys are a dynamic duo and if you ever want to edit for me hopi fucking happy for the outpa- you i need to help decrease it. You guys don't know. But if i'd here on on take talk. Hit one point one million views on of his video. What a fucking savage bro. To see my friends are doing well. I fucking love it warm as my heart. It it really i. I'm going to cry like it's so good. I'm so fucking happy doing well. Man like legit tearing up so happy for you can chat if you like okay. I'm so happy for you man. It's awesome keep that shit up bro. Doll stop don't lie. You're making it bigger your boomer eyeballs. I mean that's true. I am doing that as well. I am doing that as well gambling. And now you've oh you actually won. Jesus christ do man. You're catching up to eighty nine. Let's get back to this to back to the aclu. She's calling wife but she's still money from you so i'm just saying all right so let's see then. We just need to take into nineteen data from stream. Illness streamline them silly known became chemistry for your case so toll stream hours in two thousand nineteen was four hundred thirty two billion hours. Total hours watched was Eleven trillion hours watched data per hours. Four point seven one seven five gigabytes and of two point. Six four or. I don't know what that means live. In just rates so it's about Point point zero three gigabytes or point zero three cents per gigabyte. So they're paying a lot for our. They're paying a lot of mine. I didn't know we could have mature conversation. What who's being mature and who turned me into fucking potato all go buy yourself some doughnuts. Tell her that. I came in council eleven trillion brought. Nobody can count to eleven great timing. I know what the fuck great time. Right live origination. Okay so stream okay. Here's some math you guys know. I love math stream hours. Four hundred twenty million four point one seven gigabytes times. The ingest rate is fifty four million dollars. Right get to. Yeah get a room. Get a room. You heard you heard him. You heard till hours watch is eleven billion and origination fees okay so they paid one point four or five billion dollars. Why would you turn me into fucking banana. watching you. Rage.

Let's see all right I don't know if anybody did they lose a lot of money. I moved my sister every time. I do it my daughter as she pays the banana. The figures were questionable. I looked at two. It was kind of unclear to me. let's see opinion which loses thousands of viewers after black queen. Disabled streamers lead one day boycott of the platform. Okay data shows that a one day twitch boycott organized fed up with placards nationalists has. Let's who knows decline in dealership numbers. Okay that's good but twisted an email about it a few days later. Oh did they what. What are that. Email say according to washington post k. a day off which move and asked for as soon as possible to boy streaming For the post on the day of the event concurred twitch viewership peaked at three point. Four million around four hundred thousand less than these same day previous that week. Okay so I don't think i might have gotten email. Like i said i was just got back from vegas. I even have my voice yet. I i'm still recovering. People like i'm still. I'm still recovery mode Participated for most of the day. I was only here. Why bone extreme because of his only source of income. That's fair i saw. He was having some hit him. So i had to jump in my twitch. Oh he was having some hit him. Somebody hit what was he getting. Hate for it. Who'd ever attacked bona fide hero. They're going to be my fucking enemy. They're going to be my enemy. It was basically a long email but committed to protecting minorities actually saying anything. Corporations owes lawyer jargon his lawyer jargon should nobody got knowing on top of that bite from pure pure viewership standpoint. it was Twist second worse day in a month will roll numbers of street also liberal peaking around nineteen thousand viewers after four weeks of the platform averaging one hundred. Thirty six thousand okay. So there's about twenty thousand less dreamers in about four hundred thousand less viewers on twitch. Oh he got hit with a hate raid. Oh no wait. He got hit with a hate raid. Can't reveal what they're having the works because they don't want to let the perpetrators know what they're doing an advance. Okay we'll if twitch actually does something about it. But i'm super down like i'm super now I hope they do. I hope they have the power to do something i know. They have They built in something They built in like goals stuff and they built in like a way. We could turn it to like Like a follower only. I guess you could turn my father only like that Wait crusader gotta hate rate as well. Jesus i decide i anyone. I was shooting that day. I didn't want to not stream either. That's i think that's where. I want to talk today about a bit. Because you know it's a day off twitches of movement and movements work of nobody streams but at the same time. People like bona fide here. This is the only way they can make money right now. So it's like you know it's that is that hard line of like you want. Support the people who need to meet the money and the platform because that's the way they make money but the same time you don't want i mean you don't want to support you. Wanna you wanna cause enough of a ruckus where twitch doesn't like does something about it. It seems like at the end of the day though that they have taken notice and they're doing something about it But i can see where you might side i somebody for still streaming on the platform that day because it's the day off twitch you know it's like it was a movement type thing so it's a it's a tough one because i love notified hero and i know i know his predicament personally and i know this is the way he makes money so it's like nobody watches them that day. It's like missing a day at work. And he he's got a baby on the way really can't afford it so it's kind of tough. It's a tough situation Okay so on. September second was back to business as usual skill. Okay let's see let's see. Let's see shot. The arrest shiny pen filipino trance streamer thought more about what should be done in addition to talking about the problem so he decided to organize walkout a day off which is largely about coming together in solidarity. The one day off is a step in the may steps towards change. I agree with that. It's a good statement right there. I worried be hatred soon. Followed by a couple of the bought. So of i actually speaking of which i think i have. I have to ban one of the bots that they were just chat. Hold on It showed the. There's the follow okay. e- ban. It's like the hosts right. There's your three one to there. You go okay. yeah. I got fall today so but i'll just turn off alerts and go to sub only mode for it. Yeah i would do the same thing just do to sub. I mean that's my. That's my contingency plan. If i do get hate rated. I don't know why i be rated. I you know. I guess then just choosing at random. It's just a bunch of bots. So from what. I've read about the heat. Rays is basically a bunch of bots and some asshole created an algorithm that has been just targeting random people with these hate rates out of nowhere which is fucking stupid That someone would make an algorithm to do that and be that they are doing in the first place. It's weird that it's even fucking exist awfully it targets tags targets tags. Oh i don't know if it's true. But i've heard the sources one person any username with lunar in ban. Okay lunar as well. So i know the host ones and i haven't gotten a lunar yet. It's i don't think i've gotten a follower from lunar No no not yet. Not that i know how to haas. I did get a hold on Ban got haas zero. Ohio's oh zero. Three one two. How about that all right van. That person look off. Fuck out here. So i'm talking racial tax. Oh i guess it could it you over the sable tack. They might haass's another yeah. I got two. Two houses are gone now. i'll keep an eye on the lunar one. That's a catch. Thank you They could target me they. Could you know i'm a veteran. I got pretty thick skin and they can eat. Dicks is the one to be a bad example for for all of you guys. You know what i mean. Like i i'd rather be a fun place for you guys Right so twitches probably previously said that it's working on making the platform safer for its creators of it's going to say that By billy detection methods for us to try to flout bands. So tell us about the economy parts of creator economy and what we mean when we say these terms yeah Well the term creator economy only emerged in the past year. I'm really the past nine months but the industry has been around for a lot longer. So you may have heard of the influencer economy or like the online celebrity world All of it refers to essentially people making money by building audiences an influence on the internet. And then monetize ing those audiences. So you can think of twitch. Streamers youtube stars instagram influencers. All of these people are part of the broader quote unquote creator economy or creators and influencers. The same thing yes. Creators influencers are the same thing and the word creator was actually coined in its modern usage by youtube. Back in twenty eleven He wrote a piece on this but when the marketing industry cold in the mid twentieth tens the word influencer became popular because it was really a way to talk about sort of multi-platform creators. So the word creator was so synonymous with youtube. Instagram irs. viner's wouldn't call themselves that So they sort of started calling themselves creators and influence right. They start calling themselves. Influencers influence was always the term sort of most popular throughout the mid twenty tense but in the past year as the tech industry has kind of embraced this whole world. It's flipped back to creator as as sort of preferred at platform agnostic term.

How to Break Through a Plateau: Changing the Tempo
"We're gonna go over ten different ways to potentially breakthrough plateau. Yes before we because we listen and we know this so before we go into this. Do you guys Perfer to do one of these things at a time or will you pair them and if you do pare them. Let's save that for afterwards on your favorite ones to pair together. Yeah that's a great question and it depends how hard and how long have plateaued great question. Absolutely all right. So what's the first one. I one is depends. This one is by the way. These are no real particular order but this first one is often one that nobody even considers don't even think about changing the tempo of the repetitions. My favorite teach. This is one of my favorites to change. Because it's easy. It's like i don't have to do anything else. Except slow my reps down or speed them up like just change the tempo and be consistent with that change in your workout and it usually is enough to get me moving forward again. Well you can really late change the entire adaptation process by just this one factor. I mean like to be able to stimulate fast twitch muscle fibers to have that kind of response. It's a completely different response. The and different signal. You're sending your body just by you know increasing the speed of which you lift or you know the the way that you're the intention of of what you're doing with the exercise Will will tell the body something completely different so Tempa or to slow it down. Obviously is going to tell the body come a completely different thing.

Using Content to Grow a Loyal Audience with Author Joe Pulizzi
"What is the essence. What is the heart. What is the soul of the content inc model so basically it's seven steps. It's sweet spot. The content tilt building the base. Then you focus on audience building. Then you drive your first stage of revenue and diversify into other areas other platforms and then the end one is used either sell or you go big or you create an amazing lifestyle. Business like you have with with fire nation. The couple things that i wanna talk about that are really important and things that we found that a lot of people might not agree with because it might not make sense but the one thing is the base the focus on one platform over and over again we find these content entrepreneurs were building multimillion dollar enterprises. They're not everywhere they are on youtube or twitch or they have a podcast or they have an amazing email newsletter. They're not doing everything at one time now. Later down the road that's the thing that's called diversification that step six but you have to build a minimum viable audience. I so that's that third step. That's really important and then two big issues in the model or one that the thing that i get the questions on most of the time jail diese sink called the content tilt and the content tilt is something that everyone has to have but most content creators don't and that's an area of differentiation. It's an area of little to no competition on the web where you actually have a chance to break through so that means you have to focus on a different topic. You have to focus on a different audience type. You have to focus on a different platform. You have to tell a different story it. You can't talk about the same old things that everyone else is talking about in the same way like for you. I mean you did a great job. There were really no entrepreneur. Podcast that were daily when you started your thing and you knew that you saw that as your Opportunity and that became your content. Tilt so with me you know when we started content marketing institute our whole thing was hey. Can we build a category and call at content marketing. Nobody was using that term. But we went into that. We've focused all of our efforts on content marketing and three years. Later we built a million dollar enterprise but it a lot of people forget that all. I can't just talk about the same old thing. Or this is what i love and this is what i know. No you have to figure out what the audience is. Pain points are what keep keeps them up at night. And then you can figure out how you're going to position your content around

"Know we'll. Our team will get really active on twitter page. And we'll try to drop by many veterans dreamers as we can and drop follows. Show that love because it's something that we believe in i'm so happy that twitch finally added The the veteran tag and the disabled veteran tag to to the community to give the veteran community a space within twitch and so dubbed up. He really tries to to go out there and be present in the community and show that love and support to Content creators veteran content creators so as huge. I mean i don't think people realize you and you're trying to build community on twitch like oddest put it out there. We've talked about this. A hundred times on this podcast. But it's worth saying building building content from scratch and building a community from scratch is one of the hardest things to do on twitch if you don't have a following somewhere else is increasingly hard. So in order to being able to network with other veterans easier now on twitch yes amazing because it is so needed because veterans. Wanna look out for other veterans as part of our dna. So it's a natural thing to have a tag. So i can click through on the tag and say. Oh is the veteran veteran veteran. Like it's easy for me to be like. Yeah i'm going to support this person because the veteran you mean like this is what we do. This is natural. This is what we do your veteran. I'm a veteran out the shit a little bit. You know we can have fun. I can again stop you and halo a little bit and then you can. We can laugh about it afterwards. You know so. That's a lutely absolutely. I think that's what's so cool to is about the tags on twitches allows us to find each other but then it also allows us to play right and build camaraderie with each other we can. We can hop on and play some games together. Which i think is is so key man. I think it's it's building comradery. You're you know you're kind of combating isolation and you're out there you're meeting people that are like minded right most vets You tend to open up pretty quickly to other vats because you know we have a shared dared kind of experiences. We have a shared value system. Where were more than likely. I'm gonna to have those shared experiences and so it's just easier to to meet vets and kind of interact with them as an this huge man. I don't think you guys realize. I hope you guys are starting to realize how big that is. I think you do. But i you know. I only wanna do everything i can do to support. I think here's the thing you guys create its amazing community in this amazing mindset and his great platform and you guys are you know you're putting your money where your mouth is not money wise bomb saying like you're giving support and you're doing it organically and naturally so people like me who are streamers. I'm like dude. I want to support. Just because like i need this portent like you guys. Have you done sore ganic. Ly- the that when you when you're in the discord is feels natural. You know that's not how things forced is just like people who actually want to be there and that is the key and that's also the grow on twitter any platform. In general you guys have nailed it nailed and you know this right in the in the live streaming and gaming space People can tell very quickly when you're not being authentic You know. And and i when we went to pax east. I think that was one of the biggest things that i realize..

Sims foreign city skylines they. They do trend on twitch. No they do. Yeah wow that's why. I mean well. They're games that you love but they're also games that are on twitch lake There there's yeah so. That's why i meant to say is like it isn't necessarily all about okay. Joseyphina's World
His Phone, My Rival
"I remember those days when my eyes and fingers stay glued to my phone just exchanging tax with my beloved. The phone was my most valuable possession. I held onto it like a lifeline so whenever the network acted up i felt like i was drowning. Little did i know that my love lane could end up being my rival in the long run because of his busy work schedule most of our conversations were virtual and it was an acceptable alternative it was not ideal but i had to tolerate it whilst waiting patiently for the day we will start our lives together as mr and mrs the beginning was bliss. The honeymoon was just perfect. Our phones were on break and we finally had all the time in the world to connect face to face. I remember those moments like they happened yesterday. Holding onto his every spoken. Word like a respirator and never getting tired of watching his face. Mesmerized by every expression twitch arch smile or chuckle but it seems when our honeymoon ended. My hubby's phone resumed its duties as number one companion for the next three months or so. The phone was still a useful device in keeping the passion sizzling with check messages from time to time where the magic free words which never get old popping up on my phone screen at just the right time making me smile and feel all mushy like are gaining days. But when the texting began to wane so did our usual night talk's the catching up on the day's events whilst preparing dinner was replaced by he sitting in front of the tv and his fingers continuously tapping on his phone. What particularly gets to my nerves is when he simply replies. Oh it was okay. Nothing much. When i ask how his day without even lifting his head and look at me as he says it meanwhile chatting and laughing out loud when i tell him how much it bothers me. He makes me feel like the inconsiderate one job. He almost always needs to be online to keep himself up to date with the world's happenings year right. The world news is more important than his wife's feelings and though whatever belongs to one is for the other as well. Apparently that doesn't apply to his phone.

This Old Marketing
Will the Content Entrepreneur Business Continue to Boom?
"Here's the thing. This is just the tip of the iceberg. This industry is because for whatever reason the last year and a half you've had venture capital capitalists. You've had a high big tech companies that have realized that they can make money with content creators. Who are not just doing. A side gig anymore or side-hustle as maybe gary banner check check. Call it. they're actually building businesses. And that's what what's interesting and these businesses. Oh they can spend money and they will spend money and they are spending money and where what. I'm the the data point that i would like to get to and i haven't figured out a way to do it. Maybe you know robert is. I'm trying to figure out how you can tell the numb if you say that. The united states has you've had x. number of businesses started in america in the last twelve months. How can you show the number of those businesses that content entrepreneurs he can't. I can't figure out a way to do it right now. But i think that that's kind of what we're striving toward. Because i believe nobody thought that the youtubers of the world or the twitch streamers or whatever would be able to be self sufficient not even that but to start hiring people and to start buying marketing services and data services and advertising services and really. be the You know this content creator content entrepreneurs real is the one driving this entire creator economy.
