Polls show Trump is losing to Joe Biden

"President trump, Joe Biden, spurring the economy, one of the areas where president trump still holds an advantage over Joe Biden. Let's talk about the race now on our roundtable joined by Chris Christie. RAHM Emanuel. Amanda Carpenter former top staffer for Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Jim Demint now congress at the Bulwark Anzor, Lena Maxwell senior director progressive programming for Sirius Xm author of the end of white politics. Welcome to all of you and Ramleh me begin with you Joe. Biden has about a nine point lead in national polls right now, leading in all the battleground states some Democrats. Now talking about going into George going into Texas, is that overconfidence. yes, and no I think on the straight point I always think. You have right now. Don't get confused with the national polls. They are very very good, but while he is the vice president is up in the battleground states. I would right now number one goal secure those top battleground states before you expand the field. Keep your eye on those opportunities that approach and I. Think Right now I wouldn't spiked the ball on the twenty yard line we. We know what happened. In Two thousand sixteen focus right now on securing Michigan Pennsylvania Wisconsin Arizona. Florida the in North Carolina. That's what I would do, and then look strategically about which of those opportunities right now you have an election. George were the American. People basically want a president who solves problems and not be the source of problems, and that's the Opportunity Democrats have right now.

Tom vs. Team: Why Brady is Moving On

"Well amidst everything happening in the world. Right now Tom Brady singlehandedly. Wrestle control of the new cycle and in the process basically gave us in sports media a miniature stimulus package by announcing that. He's leaving the New England patriots. Seth you have covered Brady forever. You've been to his house. You've covered this team for a while. What was your initial reaction to today's news? I think it's been in the works for a long time. I think it's been in the works since training camp and I think that people just didn't want to believe it New England fans didn't want to believe it some media members didn't believe it. Even people close to Tom. Brady didn't want to believe it. Even the people who did believe it in some ways didn't WanNa believe it and yet here we are I should note here that all season long says McCain has been texting me. I think this happened. I think this is going to happen. And I've written back really come on really stuff so you were right and here. We are and as you mentioned not. Everything's been roses in New England for quite a while now and we'll get to that but until I think this season. It didn't seem realistic to a lot of people that he would actually leave. So let's go back to the beginning of the year. When did that start change? Well I think that he almost left training camp because he was so frustrated about the contract negotiations that were going on with the Patriots for years. Now he is wanted a commitment and he has said with every ounce of sincerity that he wants to play until he's forty five years old and I think there's a part of him that felt like he had earned that commitment from the New England patriots but in lieu of that. He just wanted clarity. If you don't want me here fine I'll move on but you have to let me know and in the fall of eighteen. He signed what was termed at the time. As a two year extension was not an extension it was essentially five million dollars in bonuses that he never hit and then this year he entered the year as fifteen million dollar quarterback on the books which is astounding in August. He and his camp were in negotiations with the Patriots again. They were not interested in committing beyond a year to him and again reportedly he almost left training camp because he was so frustrated about it but when he finally did commit to playing and sign the deal he said all along that he was just an employee there. I show up and do my job. I'm an employee like everyone else. I'M GONNA show this week to do the best. I can do a quarterback when he said I'm just an employee here that was a little bit different and everybody always knew that even though Tom Brady could say he was a player just a player. Everyone knew that he was Tom Brady. Everyone knew that he could talk to. Robert Kraft whenever he wanted to. Everybody knew he go to Robert. Kraft's house whenever he wanted to so. It was always a little ridiculous that he would say that. I find your point about him saying. I'm just an employ really interesting because everybody knows that bill belichick is fairly ruthless. Really when it comes to you know how he manages personnel in his job is GM. He will move on from a star a legend right away but it was always the assumption. Tom Brady was above that he was not just an employee. He wasn't just any player to ballot. Check do you think that changed at some point recently or do you think that's always been the case? I think it's always been the case but I think what changed was Tom's perspective. I think the assumption was that it was Bella. Check who would be willing to move on from Brady and cut or trade him. Even though we all knew that Robert Kraft was never gonNa let him cut or trade. Tom Brady unless things got so bad that he had no choice to do it. I think there was always the presumption that Tom Brady wanted to retire a Patriot and again the past couple of years. There's been a lot of turmoil in the building. Twenty years is a long time to spend working so closely with a ruthlessly driven coach like bill. Belichick there's one assistant who told me working one year with bill. We'll take a year off your life and Tom's been in that system for a long time and he's tired he wants to do something new. I think that's were Brady. Decided to take control of his story and changed things Brady starts talking about himself as an employee and I think this sense of unease sets in did that persist throughout the twenty nine thousand nine season. He's a professional bill. Belichick said professional once. They're they're they're going to do everything they can to win every week but the season for the Patriots was weird season. It was a weird season because their offense didn't pull its weight for the entire year and that's very rare especially the last half of Brady's career with the patriots as they become they become so much of a pass. Heavy offense dominated team you know. Obviously they had Antonio Brown pretty was very excited to play with him. They light up the dolphins with Brown in the lineup. Antonio Brown had been accused of sexual assault then. A sports illustrated article comes out detailing. All kinds of new allegations and Robert Kraft who says he doesn't involve himself in personnel and football decisions makes a decision organizationally that they're gonNA move on from him. Brady was very upset about that and I think bill belichick was upset about it too. They wanted to see what the offense could do with Brown and so I think that's one of those sort of hidden moments from the season that I think ends up becoming a bigger deal than it was because after that the New England Patriots is here without Rob Gronkowski. Just couldn't get a receiver as open as they were accustomed to in the past. And so the offense just didn't play very well into remember at one point in the season. It looks like the Patriots were. They were talking about going undefeated again and then they lose to Miami in the last game of the season at home and then they come out against the titans in the in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The Patriots were beaten up for most of the game and yet late in the game. The Patriots got the ball back and it just looked like they were going to recapture the magic. The magic that were so accustomed to seeing from Tom Brady. He hit a pass for about twenty yards. Got a little bit of breathing room and then the drive just stalled and on second down Brady threw outside of Julian Edelman white behind Brady Bunch. Before it was an out route join Dorset Britain dropped back. It was a route two oldest football. It's a route that these guys have run so many times over the years short set walks in on the side at the forty five yard line turning to run an element dropped the ball and even though that's not when the game ended it felt like the game ended right there. You could feel the air. Go Out of the stadium. You could feel the wind. Go out the New England patriots sideline it just felt that after twenty years after all those super bowls after winning and losing some of the greatest games in NFL history. This run was over. That's the way it felt to me. Tennessee titans have come into foxborough and defeated. Tom Brady and the pats twenty to thirteen in his wildcard. Rob You were there. What was brady like in the aftermath? I've seen Tom Brady. After a lot of losses I've seen him after a lot of season ending losses. He looks physically ill. After losing a game that ends their season but against the titans after losing game ended their season this year. He seemed different. Usually Tom waits a long time. The game to come to the podium and granted the game ended late but he came out of the locker room like a hurricane and he got to the podium and was in no rush to leave. He sat he chatted. There's nobody who had a better career I would say to me. I just being with them so I'm very blessed and I don't know what the future looks like so I'm not going to predict it so I wish you'd want tonight and We should done a lot of things better over the course season but we just tend to get the job done. It was just a different vibe that he put out there that I've ever seen before and when he left and he walked out. He just had a vibe that he was over it he was done.

Tua Tagovailoa's Recovery Shakes Up the NFL Draft

"Time last year to ten goodbye. Loa was the consensus number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft but when a devastating hip injury in November ended his season at Alabama his NFL future was cast into doubt now with new reports. That too is recovery is on track. Teams are debating whether his elite talent is worth the risk and the entire draft. Looks like mystery? I mean at times? It's Tuesday February. Eighteenth this is espn daily presented by ADT. Todd Todd mcshay is an NFL draft in college football analyst for ESPN so todd. The last time we saw Tunga Velo on a football field. He was getting started off with a hip injury and it ended his season and Alabama title hopes along with it. News broke last week regarding the status of his recovery. What we know now well first of all I was there that day and it was brutal to watch behind. He's down to us. Down Helmet came off. This is exactly what you did not want to see happen and I was probably ten. Maybe twenty yards away from him as the to. Mississippi state defenders converged on him. And you could just tell right away. Something was wrong but then I saw the bloody nose at first and they said the trainers got. The plastic wraps in there has the gloves on their hands and and I just thought all right. They're they're just taking care of his nose and he'll be done for the day and then he went to stand up and you could tell just how deep his knee drove his leg into his hip that something was seriously wrong so it's good to hear that he has passed his first test. If you will sources confirm to ESPN at the most recent tests show is healing well and has good range of motion to what could get back to football activities in a month if he continues to progress well and is now moving onto the second phase of of the Rehab and recovery stage. There's still a lot left to determine and there's still a lot of rehab to go so that's going to be the biggest thing in terms of his evaluation between now and late. April's draft is where is he? And what are the doctors really? Think about the long-term WanNa talk to you about his injury and the draft. And you know the time line for all of that but I I wanNA talk to you. About what a good football player he is because prior to that injury he was the base star in college football. And you've been watching him for a long time wind it I strike you. This guy's got this stuff how `bout that throw in the national championship talk. He had never started a game and now he's in the National Championship with the game on the line he was coming off of a bad play was able to shake it off. He's keeping his is down the middle of the field and he's working that safety just a little bit to the right. He's trying to move the safety as much as he can because if he does. He knows that he has Smith's breaking down the sidelines. The is move the safety just enough for him to go back to Smith and make the throw of the year. I mean he just knew the spot that he had to get it to and to come in the second half and to have the confidence to lead Alabama to a victory. That kind of told me everything about him. And from that point he kept developing. But if you go back and just really study his tape the things that make him special his deep accuracy is as good as you're gonNA say he's so quick twitch he's like a drew brees from the left handed side you know just how how works in the pocket and goes from one read to the next but keeps his is married to his feet. He fits what you want in today's NFL. But is he going to be healthy enough to with that hip recovery to to have that quick twitch nece and and the ability to to move as quickly as he has tie? You're around these players but also these programs. What did you hear about how to? Oh was handling the injury in his rehab process. Everyone loves him. There's a calmness and a poise about him that you rarely see with with college quarterbacks or any college player so. I'd like to leave you with this from one of my favorites McGraw songs. When you get where you're going don't forget turn back around and have the next one in line. Always stay humble and kind so confident but so humble talking. Nfl SCOUTS IN GM's not a negative word about him. He's a special human being and wherever he winds up going. He's going to be the face of the franchise obviously but he's kind of a culture changer if you will and and. I think that's part of the draw in part of his value. It's not just this injury right. He's had other injuries that have caused him to miss time. He broke a finger sprained. A knee injured his quad. The ankles even before all of this. How much of a concern with that? It's a big. It really is a big concern and the problem is if you study the history of it if you look back. I think it's the last ten years or seven quarterbacks that had college injuries there were first round draft picks that all of them have had some varying kind of durability issues in the NFL from Rg. Three to SAM. Bradford Shawn Watson Marcus Mariota Carson wentz Teddy Bridgewater Jake Locker. All of these guys have gone on to have injuries now. They're not always the same injuries. Some guys are are just injury-prone and just knowing. Nfl teams in the amount of time and the amount of studies that they do. Especially at this position. Especially with first round picks. That are going to cost you. When you're talking about quarterbacks in the top ten twenty to thirty five million dollars in guaranteed money they're doing the research on this and they all know this. You know your job over the course of these college football seasons you're not just evaluating these players you're thinking about where they'll be drafted if to ahead gun her at that point in the season where do you think he would have gone. I think he would be the first overall pick. I think if two was healthy Cincinnati would be taking to a number one overall. I really do if he didn't suffer that injury. We would be having a great debate between two a ton of Iowa and Joe Borough but ultimately my guess is that too would probably be the decision at Number One and knowing Cincinnati. They'd probably they do something to maybe move out of that spot. Make a mistake and let Miami or the chargers Carolina come up and get that pick. If I'm being honest he's he's better than Joe Borough and I love Jober but if you tell me these two guys are going to have ten year careers with no injuries. I'm taking two but then I've got a measure. R Joe Borough has been durable. Jost has shown the ability to kind of fight through pain a little bit more and to stay healthy and so. That's really the deciding factor. In my opinion I have to ask you know. Why do you think he's better than borough? I mean rose coming off of arguably the greatest season we've ever seen by college quarterback. What is it about two as game that you prefer? If I knew he was going to be healthy I think he just kind of fits a little bit better in terms of what what the NFL is today. Terms of getting the ball out quickly and being decisive and then also when you take shots down the field. But I I love Joe Borough to if I WAS CINCINNATI. I would take her over to because of the durability issues. Borough is worth the the first overall pick and I think Cincinnati would be making mistake if they didn't take jober tied. You have to take proof your analysis because you're gonNA get clipped saying to us better than Joe Borough and that's GonNa Follow you forever. You've been spending too much time around.

Super Bowl LIV Preview

"Today ahead of Super Bowl. Fifty four we break down just what to expect when the Chiesa. He's the niners square off on Sunday. I mean at times it's Thursday January thirtieth this espn daily presented by Dell small business. We are on radio row right now. ESPN daily is in the back There are radio stations across America. ESPN shows everyone is at their booths. Interviewing players analysts celebrities stars. And we've got one here with us. Dominic foxworth radio row is madness. It always ban is but it's like three hundred people gets bigger and his crazier every year. Well Luke speaking of madness this game people having trouble picking the winner I think because it truly feels like the two best teams made it to the Super Bowl. I feel like I'm just GONNA. It was Patrick Mahomes. Because it's not GonNa be fun rooting against him. We'll be more fun rooting for him than against it. Let's start by talking about patching mahomes chiefs offense versus the San Francisco Forty Forty niners defense. Which is sort of the strength on strength matchup in this game? I think history would favor San Francisco because the recent super bowls elite defenses. Have come out on top. The two thousand fifteen Denver Broncos the two thousand thirteen Seattle seahawks. We don't need to talk about what happened near later. The two thousand eight steelers ninety six packers list goes on typically offense loses according to our friends at stats and Info so the niners are the sevens team in the last fifteen years to make it to the super bowl with fifty five or more sex the other six teams all won dominique. We've seen how disruptive active this pass rushes the secondary ranks near the top of the League in stopping deep passing as the linebackers fast they can move laterally. Which is the chiefs specialty with their sweeps and screens? And all that said tell me how the chiefs offense can still beat them. I mean I have never seen the chiefs. Offense actually be stopped in any legitimate way especially with a healthy Patrick mahomes and he is healthy. And that's the difference is when we've seen great defenses. Losing the Super Bowl. It's been all time great quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers one of the people who did I did not think Patrick Mahomes is obviously in that category. As far as this town is concerned. If you were the niners defense how would you defend Patrick Mahomes this explosive chiefs passing attack. So I think you have to mix it up. That's the best thing you can do. And you also have to understand that you're not gonNA stop them. They're GONNA make plays they're going to score points. But you need to try not to give a big play. Touchdown don't stress about them getting to the red zone but play well in a red zone which the forty niners haven't been doing which is scary. It's interesting right. Yeah the the niners defense ranks. Thanks near the top in most statistical categories this year. But you're right. They have been less. Efficient are actually been below average in the red zone. They've struggled to stop the run there. which cheese haven't really been running the ball lately? They've also struggled this season against mobile quarterbacks now that requires an enormous caveat which which is that D. Ford niners pass rusher at Kwon Alexander. LINEBACKER missed a lot of games during the regular season but you look performances against Cuyler Murray Lamar Jackson Russell Wilson. You saw those were the games in which they struggled a little bit more for what we've seen from Patrick Mahomes in this postseason is is an insane ability to take off the football as the leading rusher for his team and the playoffs so far and I think that he's always been comfortable with it now that his knee is gone a little bit unhealthier. He's more apt to take off. But I think that's less scary the him getting outside of the pocket throwing like I'd almost rather him try to run it for twenty yards. Because what happens win. He buys time against the forty niners. Specifically they're not traditionally man coverage team but everything turns the main when the quarterback starts to scramble like. That's your your scramble scramble roles as a defensive back or linebackers find closest guy and stick to them everything tires demand at that point in there they just frankly. The forty niners don't have the secondary speed speed in secondary and to be fair to them. No one has a speed and a secretary to run with McColl Hartman and tyreek hill specially with the arm. That Patrick Mahomes has the the chiefs are the best st passing team in the NFL or close to it. The San Francisco Forty niners are the best at defending the NFL or close to it. Something has to give live. How do you even begin to defend all of those weapons? especially if you're the forty niners you play a pretty simple cover. Three quarters mixed in there. Do you change it up. What do you do with Rick Chairman? You have to change it up. You can't survive and covered three. Andy Reid loves four verticals and with that speed and in Patrick mahomes arm strength and accuracy. He will eat you alive in the same with four verts. Would it really comes down to is pressure which is why I think that blitzing is a smart move. You WanNa make them get rid of the ball quickly and tackle but you're not gonNa do it every single time and if you give him one opportunity unity he can make you pay so you need to get the Turner was when you get those opportunities. I think they should be more aggressive than they've been and try to force them to get rid of the ball and make tackles. Yeah if there's been a weakness in this defense dominique. It's been the other side of the field for Richard Sherman originally weatherspoon more recently. They've been playing a manual. You'll Moseley a corner. He's been better but undeniably. That's an area of the field. I think the chiefs would like to target so much of the performance of the San Francisco Secondary. It depends on the pass rush getting home and you know as a former DB pass rushes the secondary's best friend a lot of the great statistics we've seen from the secondary can dairy are the product of this pass. Rush being so explosive a pass rush that turns into a murderer's row. Win The big four Defoe Award. DEFOREST Buckner Eric Armstead and it boasts are all on the field when those four players are playing their sack ratio. The percentage of drawbacks drawbacks in which they get to the quarterback jumps from six percent to twenty three percent twenty three percent of the time. They're taking the quarterback down So Eh my question to you is they've been able to get a lot of pressure by just rushing four. Do you think that they'll have success against a chief offensive line. That's probably one of the better offensive lines they faced aced. No now. It's just for. I don't think they can be able to stop him. The more I think about it in a way that you framed that I think made it very clear my mind is I think they're going to have to flush them out. You got to get him to run with the football or get them uncomfortable to get rid of the football. Because I do think that the chiefs offense line is good enough that they're not just going to get massacred. And then you put on top of it. The chiefs offense is not one that killed by a fact like most offenses. If you second now it's second and fifteen second eighteen it's over it's third and twelve. It's over over. It's not true for the chiefs offense so they can get pressured they could get a sack. Can Patrick Mahomes can make a play in overcome that so I think that the the worst thing they could possibly do is believe leave. Their Front for is going to be enough to stop this chiefs offense so far this postseason what we've seen from Patrick. Mahomes is a record performance. I quarterback in NFL history to throw for two fifty at rush for fifty consecutive games in a postseason. Do you think he keeps it up. And that's a difficult question because yes you can think he'll play well but we're talking about playing at historic level. I think he does keep it up and I think I've said this a lot in to the point where people make fun of me is that he's never had a bad game and that's one of the most mind blowing. I guess you can call it that you see from a guy who's who's just been starting for two years played a lot of games and there's never had a bad one like mediocre is the worst as you get out of them in in the big games. He's been fantastic gets thirteen touchdowns. Yeah no interceptions in his playoff career. And I know it's been said Ad Nauseam nor is why they are in Super Bowl last year because of off someone lining up offsides so like I've yet to see him shrivel into big moment he only seems to get bigger and until I see him Have a tough outing going to lean in favor

Super Bowl Bound: 49ers and Chiefs

"Did bill. We made it to the Super Bowl. You me and Jimmy Garoppolo. I feel I I may have sweat more watching the NFC championship game. That Jimmy Garoppolo actually swept playing being in the NFC championship game. Bill Barnwell is a senior football writer at ESPN and the host of the bill. Barnwell show so after two weeks Of Extremely Exciting Football Championship weekend did not disappoint niners and chiefs fans disappointed pretty much everyone else or at least anyone who wanted close close games both favorites dominated so let's start with the most dominant team the San Francisco Forty niners bill win the niners packers met earlier earlier. This season. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career threw for one hundred and four yards. Tonight he threw for three hundred twenty six yards But the result wasn't much better. Why is that okay? So the first time these two teams played the niners won with an absolutely dominant. Pash Josh Rush Nick. Bosa and his teammates knocked down Aaron Rodgers ten times on Sunday. The only knockdown Aaron Rogers twice and while they did hold them without a first down conversion in the first half both of those games the packers movable pretty consistently I should say after after halftime instead the forty niners otherworldly in a different way on Sunday they ran the ball forty two times for two hundred eighty five yards and four. We're touchdowns averaging nearly seven yards per carry to put that in context. ESPN has a stat called expected. Points with measures how each play impacts team's James Chances of scoring on a given the forty niners racked up the second most rushing. EPA for any team in a game this season and and the most for any single team in a playoff game over the last decade just narrowly beating out the prior record holder. which just happened to be the forty niners? Twenty wanting twelve playoff win over. The Green Bay Packers would Colin Kaepernick. Ran For one hundred. Eighty one rushing yards. So they're leading rusher tonight. I was not Colin Kaepernick. It was re Moster who ran for two hundred and twenty yards by himself. were good has hat trick the first half of the NFC championship game deserves a hat trick of field grade baby bill. Will I am guessing. A decent amount of football fans hadn't heard Ramos before tonight. Okay so you mustard is basically it accident accident in football terms but it's such a cool story so the Shanahan offense has a history of unearthing obscure running back and turning them into stars going back to Mike Shanahan stays in Denver but even among those backs most particularly remarkable case. Liners did everything they could to find a different running back over the past a couple of years. They hand picked a runner who they traded up to nab in the two thousand seventeen draft never played a game for the team. They signed Jerick McKinnon Torres. ACL He's collected more than and twenty one million dollars for the niners without ever playing a single game for the team. This offseason they added. Kevin Coleman from the Falcons who suffered an injury in the first half and that opened up the door from western and most of its story is easy to root for. You heard him talk about it. After the biggest game of his life on Sunday crazy that I've been on seven. Different teams actually still have cut dates every before every game a look at the dates when I got cut not everybody can can deal. Would that type of stressing the pain and agony I went through. I kept the faith to not only myself but whoever gave me the opportunity is organization has done a great job most are made the niners roster as a special teamer at first but after he looked good in limited time last season they gave him a three year extension after playing. Well this season most are just became the first running back. NFL history to top two hundred rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in a single game. That's never happened in the playoffs playoffs before pretty good for a guy who was really an afterthought until the two thousand eighteen season. What's just remarkable? Bill is those two hundred twenty rushing yards. Were nearly three times as many yards as Garoppolo the night as quarterback past for which made for a remarkable stat sheet. There was a point in this football game where according to ESPN stats and Info. Jimmy went ninety four minutes in real time without attempting a pass so I have to ask going into the Super Bowl. Is that a sustainable offensive approach. I mean we all had that friend and in our twenties who got by succeeded solely because they were good looking right now that friend is Jimmy. Garoppolo I mean in the divisional round. He barely through through the football in the conference championship game. He barely through the football. We saw a similar situation with Ryan. Tannehill right over the first two weeks of his post. The season and when Tennessee ran into an offensive juggernaut with the chiefs their offense with Danny Hillis not able to accelerate into a higher gear. Now of course Garoppolo is the one who has to face the chiefs unless the forty niners can shut down the Kansas City. Passing game with their pass rush which isn't out of the question they're going to need to throw the football more quite a bit more. We've seen the niners succeed in games or Garoppolo and to throw the ball at ton with the Saints Win. Maybe as a notable for example but since Garoppolo through that interception against the Vikings in the divisional round cow Shanahan has called seventy one runs against just twelve passes passes even if the niners do end up throwing the ball effectively against the chiefs. It's clear that Shanahan doesn't WANNA put the game on Garoppolo shoulders unless absolutely necessary and that in itself is telling throughout the game bill packers fans were frustrated. Understand police and they seem to be taking out some of their wrath on the coaches arguing. They should have devised better game. Plans to both run the ball more and stop the run and do you think there's anything that Matt Leflore or the Packers Defensive Coordinator Mike Patton could have done differently in this game. Yeah I think so I think to be fair. Shanahan might just ask pedants number. It just felt like you is several steps ahead of the packers defensive coordinator and when pen and tried to adjust it just never seemed to catch up and work there. There was one play I think in the second quarter was a microcosm of everything that went wrong for the packers in this game. They came out in their nickle package with five defensive backs against the forty niners base. He's too back offense which created the size mismatch. The niners pitched the Baltimore and not only did he have a huge hole but he made both safeties with on their tackle attempts downfield win for about thirty yards. pedants struggled to put his players in positions where they could succeed and meanwhile leflore didn't coach like a guy who was a seven point underdog. The packers punted. I believe on their first drive on fourth and one from the fifty yard line. We know the packers are enormously more effective offense with Aaron Aaron Jones on the field but the floor still Jamal Williams their backup running back. Play over thirty percent of the offensive snaps and he didn't really take advantage of move the niners movement Richard Sherman. That was really fascinating during the regular season for the niners and during the vast majority of his time in Seattle Sherman signed up for almost every every snap asked the left cornerback. Defense playing against the right side of the offense. The niners started the game on Sunday. Which chairman on the opposite side of the field on the right side of the defense on the left side of the offense against devante items and while Sharon didn't travel to the left side very frequently? He did do it a few times during the first half. The second half Adams was able to be isolated Sherman over the top for a huge play downfield. I think that played about half of his snaps on either side of the field. I would have liked to have seen for trying to isolate him against German a little more often and take his chances with

What exactly is a river?

"Listening Elliott would like to know the definition of a river now. I watched a youtube video recently about this about what. The world's shortest shortest river was and the idea was that there was one place where it was a like a spring that emerges and then there's like about fifty yards it's of concrete between it in a river and then flows into the river and the argument was this is the shortest river. It starts here at the spring and it flows out and then it ends up merging with this other river her then there was another example of somewhere else in the world where there are two lakes and there was a connector between them. The water flowed from one lake into the other and that was a river that flowed between between these two bodies of water. Do you have any thoughts about what what what makes a river with depth length. Anything else that it might make something a river versus the old creek or stream. I saw that video to and does get it had definition in it which just like whatever the the cartographers definition about where it has to flow from into. But I'm just going to say it has to be some water that flows in more or less uniform direction in a skinny thing not gonna go into manmade versus. Not because I feel like if you if you dig something and it's manmade but water keeps flowing there for many many years. I mean you made a river you can. You can make a river a lake. Why can't you make a river right? Like if you dig that thing and water keeps flowing on it and then hume's become extinct and five billion years later stuff still flowing like a river it was may may it's like it's a river so the length thing though. There is a minimum length like you can't just take two uber. Bodies have ordered that are separated by one. Millimeter breakdown that one. Millimeter thing and say this is one millimeter distancing. That's a river it's like no you've just you've literally just connected to things. There is nothing in between you have to separate them by a certain amount now. What does that amount is five feet two feet? I feel like we all moralize no most of the time. Things don't get names unless they are considered significant out got to be river this whole competition for shortest rivers causing people to name things in silly ways. If it's like three inches not say this is the World Charles. Wherever that competition for short will make you name things that are not rivers to call reverse verse? That's just ridiculous like you can name give it a name or whatever but if it's like a one inch long it's not a river at all so you need some water flowing flowing through thing that I feel like has to be. I'M NOT GONNA say thinner than it is long. But it should be recognizable as a thing that stuff flows goes down And I think a lot of the things I video probably too short to be over but I think you see it could be something that you could you know. It's the the minimum like shorter than you might think especially given the with if you really want to name something. That's twenty yards long a river. Fine because you might need to have the name for that thing because you might have one body of water another body water. What do you call the thing in? Between does it belong to the left body of water the right body or if it's long enough to be significant it should have a name and you could call it a river You could get into streaming creek and all sorts of stuff like that but I feel like you know river I'm GonNa say it's generic term like dish but it is is in discussions like this especially with the shortest one. I I don't I don't think it's productive to decide whether you're going gonNA call it a creek or stream or creek. Or whatever the other various synonyms are. We're all just saying. Is this a body of water worthy of being named all right I mean I I I think this is like it's however you wanted to find it. There are things that don't look like rivers but if you trace it back it turns is at this leads into a body of water. It ends up becoming the Mississippi River. You can jump over the Mississippi River in Minnesota at the source of it because it's tiny but it becomes the Mississippi the sippy river. It's the Mississippi River and it's it's very much like how do you want to set the definitions Geography is similar to like Strana me where it's like. What's planet well? Some group could define it in some way. But there's sort of like common use and it's very different. Yeah exactly for for professionals. There has to be a hard best definition like for matmaker and stuff like that but for regular people. They don't have to know about that definition when they're discussing rivers in in general that it's it's enough to I feel like there's this is one of those not probably not a lot of debate other than the shortest river people because we most people sort of know the Monday see them at only if you're in the Profession Ashen do you start drawing those fine distinctions and holding too. I do laugh my mom lives in Arizona and we often drive over a bridge over dirt. Sort that is the Gila River and it makes me laugh every time but the fact is in the there is a wet season. They're very briefly. And if there's a monsoon or a big rainstorm or something like that you know it will water will flow underneath that thing. But and they they call it a river even though for a large portion of the year there's no water in it but water flows through there in that direction and when it does. That's that's the Yellow River and sounds to me like you're driving over the Gila river bed for the area. Most of the year. It is a place where waiting for a river. It will get here eventually. It's not here right eight now. It's a riverbed it is. It is in the river is sleeping somewhere else for the moment. I don't know about the La River though about the Riverland Terminator. Two I guess yeah. Yeah and that's that is a river that they ended up putting concrete on and and guiding where it goes and you could call it something else but it was historically a river and it's still basically also very also dry out of the time if movies for sure believed absolutely also there's underground rivers but I don't even WanNa get talk talk about that. 'cause I don't even know what that is underground railroad but a little bit different. I think it's a lot different but okay.

Buffalo Clinches Playoff Birth

"Your namesake team is in in the play offs. The bills I mean. I don't WanNa Brag Bill. Barnwell is a senior football writer at. ESPN he has consulted with NFL teams. But the bills are not in fact named after him. So tonight the buffalo bills beat the Pittsburgh steelers seventy ten clinching a spot in the postseason and bill. What's amazing about this team? Aside from being named after you Is that for most of the two thousands. They didn't even have a winning record but but now they have made the playoffs in two of the last three years during this rebuilding process. Where does this recent success begin in your mind? I think the simplest place for it to start is just hiring Sean McDermott. This is a coach. Who really seems at odds with with a lot of what? NFL Teens tend to do when they have head coaching opportunity. Pop Up Sean. mcdumber forty two wasn't like he was old but let's face face it every coaching opportunity. That's popped up over. The last three years has basically been. Let's try and get a offensive minded coach or someone who is particularly close to. Sean McVeigh and correct defensive minded coach the panthers weren't even coming off a good season they were six and ten and ranked twenty six points allowed the year before so the bills really took a shot on shark dermott top of that. The bills gave McDermott some level of personnel control. which teams are really it? Really Loath to do it. First Year head coaches but it worked. The bills had an excellent free agent period in two thousand seventeen and they earned their draft totally differently that year their previous previous GM Doug Whaley had repeatedly traded up in years past regrettable move. Sammy Watkins. Being the most notable one but damage first move was to trade down and and the first player he drafted was Davis White. WHO had a big game against the steelers? Last night tonight again squirts out of bounds around the twenty yard long. So why headed early picked in fact. We'll before McDermott joined the team in two thousand sixteen they had the twenty seventh best defense in the NFL according to football outsiders after that they started taking up up in now bill. It's one of the best units in the League. How did this defense gets so good so quickly? I mean just to keep it simple. They got rid of everybody pretty much. I mean. The fifty three players were on their roster for the final game in two thousand sixteen before Mcdermott arrived. There's three guys left in the Renzo Alexander Jerry News and Shack Lawson all front seven pieces. I mean everyone else. Fifty other players on this roster Aurora ellsworth point and the bills have drafted well. But I think what makes this team so interesting as they really go out of their way to get veterans from other rosters and saw seemed to get more out of those players in their previous teams games in their first free agent period Jordan play Mike Hide Jordan Philips for example comes to mind in recent years where he was a second round. Pick washout of Miami. The bills brought him in. He has nine and a half sacks this season as defensive tackle. That's really impressive. There's just a lot of players on this roster who either were good somewhere and have become great in buffalo or who really weren't playing very well at all or almost out of the League who have become regulars on this really talented bills defense so last year the bills. Roll the dyson Josh Allen in the draft trading up to take him seventh overall despite his lack of college production in his rookie season was pretty underwhelming warming. Bill Fifty two point eight percent. Completion percentage just five point four adjusted guards per attempt. It seemed to me that they approached this off season with a really concerted strategy to build around him in free agency. Signings worked out for the team. It's been really good. I mean it's really the same philosophy sophy we saw on the defensive side of the ball. Those have had fifteen players. I not on offense for at least twenty percents of the snaps. Twelve of those guys are new into the roster. It's both running backs. All three of their tight ends five of their six top offensive. Lineman you know in a League where so many times you hear here that a team should sign a player or they actually do sign a player because they know the system quote unquote the bills. Sort of realized. Hey we have coaches who we pay to teach each player's the system. We should just go get those guys instead and so many of those players are playing in a high level and I think. It's really been perfect for Josh Allen Alan who even going back to Wyoming. He had to play hero ball. He had to sort of make big plays for his team to win. And we've seen a totally different quarterback this shear. I wouldn't argue. Allen is finished product but he's been productive quarterback this year a using his legs to create opportunities. He's hitting a lot of intermediate passes when he didn't do that last year. And he's avoiding turnovers man after throwing four interceptions in that really frustrating loss the Patriots week for this offense. Turn the ball over four. We're times in nine games. That's incredible for an offense that really just turn the ball over at will last season and they turn the ball over twice against the steelers last last night but they still did enough on offense to victory the snap just gonNa keep it off. He will sail. into the end zone touchdown touchdown buffalo. Josh Allen from one yard out and the bills are on the scoreboard early in the second quarter. Do you think there are any lessons. That other teams can take from the bills rebuilding process. Yeah I I do think so and I'm GonNa make a comparison that I'm sure. Bills fans are not really gonNA love but there's a lot of patriots in what the bills have done in their philosophy. The bills have been great at Pro Scouting and they've really found a way to bringing those players like I said who were struggling elsewhere. who were just guys elsewhere and turn them into much better contributors with Buffalo? They've done great work with undrafted. Free Agency have a couple starters in their secondary from there as well. They built their scheme scheme to really accommodate their players. And that's not just the Patriots thing but also way ravens thing where we're seeing that with Lamar Jackson and all the great stuff they've done on offense The bills don't have a scheme that throws the ball up fifteen times a game downfield. Just because Josh Allen has a strong arm they create better throws for him that that play to his arm strength as opposed to just trying to hit a big play because Josh Allen has in his arsenal I think in the big picture. There's just this idea that you shouldn't blindly follow what the NFL does with their trans so the bills are in the playoffs. Most likely as a wildcard team and bill while the defense is he's one of the best in the league offense has been up and down they really didn't produce very much against Pittsburgh. Do you think that that's a formula that can and work in January. I do not. I think they're a team. Nobody's GONNA WANNA play this postseason. It's very different from twenty seventeen eighteen where I don't think it's fair to say. The bills sort of meant the playoffs by accident that year. When they benched tyrod Taylor Nathan Peterman in mid season and kind of just rent a hot streak into the playoffs over the final month of the year? This team is way better on defense. They have more faith than Allen and I think the playoffs actually line up pretty well for for them as a five seat which is most likely where they're gonNA fall. They're terrible matchup for the Texans who they really really gave a tough game. Two in two thousand eighteen only for Nathan Peterman the throw too late interceptions to hand the texts victory and then they gave them our tax and Fitz. When they played last Sunday? I don't think this is going to be the last time the bills are going to be in the playoffs with this court. They're really opposition to be the best team in the AFC east. If the Patriots slip any further. And I am. I don't think I think it's too far to say that I'd be the best team in the AFC east right now

"Right. The play before the controversial play I down roughly the twenty yard line. The saints half the bowl I stood at my Jared said why you passing and not running the clock in what are you doing? If they'd run three St. place. They would have blood the clock down. They would have tempted a game winning field goal that will look would have made. And none of. Controversy would have happened. So they blew that. They gave that away. How about the canc- chiefs yesterday? I think they won the coin flip. And they deferred. Why are you deferring and putting Tom Brady on the field? I against your defensives vulnerable rather than taking the lead at home with your number one ranked offense. Why is that? He's he's just they make mistakes beat themselves routinely and the patriots knew going into that game that. It's one thing to describe how effective the chiefs have been in terms of point score in the first quarter the numbers speak for themselves. They've been an unbelievable first-quarter team. And it just hard to come from behind in the NFL, but there's an emotional side of the patriots. I know were aware of going into that game that you have to find a way to withstand the blow. And I understand in a lot of things changed after that opening drive of the game. But I could not help. But think about the patriots playing in the Super Bowl against the New York Giants when they were the neighbors. They take the giants get that. I drive and I wanna say in the second Super Bowl. Maybe it was maybe it was the first time they play when the patriots time eighteen or no I wanna say the giants like a seven and a half minute drive that wound up in a field goal. But still Tom Brady. Randy moss. Wes Welker high powered offense off the field off the field. The game started at six twenty. They ended up touching the ball for the first time at like six fifty seven PM that night. Like, that's how you get a team off of its schedule. Bill Belichick did is giants defensive coordinator the Buffalo Bills and their number one ranked inch we've seen it happen time. Again is soon as the game starts, and they still run the book, you say, okay. This is what's going on? And we talked about teams giving away the chances or blowing games. How about the chiefs calling time out before the end of the first half to get Brady more time to score. Again. I mean, just just little little things that make the difference make mistakes. How often do you see the patriots make mistake? You know, what I made a mistake. They made a mistake in my. Cami on the final play the game, and it cost them homefield advantage and yesterday, Bill Belichick and the patriots atone for that. And wiped away that mistake and the meaning that mistake because that mistake made a Miami. Now means nothing New England is going to the Super Bowl. You know, it's pretty credible to I completely agree like that they are able to overcome the air that they do make and not to take this away from the tenor of his game. But just again, Sean McVeigh's gonna coach in the Super Bowl and everybody kind of wants, Sean McVeigh and part of what I think we have seen from Sean McVay, obviously that brilliant people steer towards is how great he is play color. But isn't part of what's made him successful head coach is what we're talking about right now that makes Bill Belichick a great head coach is situational football, not hurting yourself. Like all these teams are chasing, the offense of proficiency and stuff like that. Should they be chasing which teams most disciplined play within themselves? But also understand the moment. Like, it feels like the patriots just are they the most talented team. They've ever had able. No, no. But but I they they certainly have a strong self belief there..

"Right. The play before the controversial play I down roughly the twenty yard line the saints half the bowl I stood at my Jared said why passing and not running the clock in what are you doing? If they'd run three St. place. They would have blood the clock down they would've tempted a game winning field goal that will lots would have made. And none of this controversy would have happened. So they blew that. They gave that away. How about the canc- chiefs yesterday? I think they won the coin flip and they deferred. Why are you deferring and putting Tom Brady on the field? I against your defensives vulnerable rather than taking the lead at home with your number one. Ranked offense. Why is that? They just they make mistakes beat themselves routinely and the patriots knew going into that game that it's one thing to describe how effective the chiefs have been in terms of point score in the first quarter the numbers speak for themselves. "It's just turned to the left and stood there at the first bucket right in front of Tori have hacking made the catch second down and one on the wherever we are here on the twenty yard line of the lines of I formation the far side. Now shifting over to the near side goes gremlin run into the first I though it is way. Like pets gets the first down at the eighteen yard line. Great drug for the Milwaukee lanes right now just doing it with muscle, no passing just bus. And it shows that the LA ten vulnerable on these running plays, particularly Los Angeles football game. Not particularly through. We got two hundred savers a tight end moving to the near side to single Bank. The both the twenty yard line. I down ten twenty four seconds left in the first quarter trying to run to the right and fumbling. The ball is weighed light-touch picked up there by the quarterback number twenty two heck of the forty. He's gonna he's got a score for a touchdown. As like touches. Try to catch him five. Touchdown LA ten God. Damn you. Touch. Couldn't hold out of the ball was trying to run to the right side. He hit that corner blitz. Sure. Shit did. And it was him. Oh, Kaylynn on a corner blitz. Then picked up the phone will that he forced himself being chased by let touch got knocked off of his feet and ham. Heck, we know. Now leaves weighed like touching his dust. Fuck it. Jack wanna letters from schoolteachers Gerber. And here's the extra point now for the LA ten who are Burs ING. Here was a perfectly. Good drive..

"It. Interesting decision to throw it to Derrick Henry there. That's not really his forte out in space and expect to make guys miss. They had Dion Lewis running the same type route to the other side. You would have thought if you had a choice flip it to the little guy who so good out space. It's golic. Second down and nine from forty of Tennessee with an eye formation. Sharpen motion and off Lewis run up the middle over the center and stop before he got to the line of scrimmage and thrown for a loss of the yard and a half back to the Tennessee thirty eight factor, basically, their original line of scrimmage. We have no score clock is ticking with eight fifty to play here in the first those are back to back confusing ways. Right. First Derrick Henry on a swing route out in space. And then you decide you want to run downhill between the tackles with a fullback. You're there. You it to Lewis to me you want to just flip that throw the ball to be all Lewis wrote down here with Derrick Henry. Mario is in the gun flanked by Lewis. He's got four wides third down in jammed from thirty eight of Tennessee. Mario looks at a four man front by the Cowboys. They come charging on the snappy drops back five from behind. Twenty five twenty yard line rolling thirteen covered by Dallas. Eighteen yard line. Sean. Linebacker after they hit by Tyrone Crawford with heavy pressure on Marcus mariota. Emma Cowboys games. First big break. Terrific defense. First and ten at the Tennessee fifteen. And that's that big beast taint lords he can get after the quarterback right there. He took the speed released to the outside Marcus mariota trying to step up just as he was bringing the ball up to make it throw down the field. Number ninety reached out that big Paul and slapped it out of his hand. And as you said it was rolling was rolling. It was road. And finally, the blue jerseys were able to cover it up. So Dak Prescott breaks huddle is at the fifteen at Tennessee. He's got a first and ten. He's got an empty backfield. Is he backpedals in the shotgun? He's got five white points out his protections with his cadence and a first and ten from the titan. Fifteen shotgun. Snap line bright grow Parsi caught by Elliott on the far sideline over his shoulder. At the ten got a couple of yards down to the yard line.
