Is Now the Time to Go Into 8K TV?

"Televisions are the next big thing and tv's but they've always been insanely expensive prices coming down now the right time to consider. I wrote a chain. This is your daily charge joining me. That's foremost tv. Expert david campfire. Welcome david good to be here. Roger so there is a new tv. That won't entirely. Break your bank right. Tell me about the deal tv so. Tcl is known as a relatively affordable tv and in our reviews we. We've given us a pretty good picture. Quality the higher end models are some of the best picture quality for the money and so they said this year that they're finally gonna come out with k. Tv they're gonna be joining samsung l. g. Sony in the eight k. Race all those brands are a lot more expensive than this. Tci also sixty five inches. The smallest You can get this. Tv in its twenty two hundred dollars and the cheapest You know. Non ak tv out there. Sixty five inches is about three grand. So that's a big discount He seattle is being very aggressive with the price. And just so. I think it's good context around that. It's like a sixty five inch four k. A very nice sixty five inch four k. tv. How much is that going to cost you about Twenty two twenty three hundred bucks. the best metric is a. Lg's a lead tv's and those are four k. resolution of the affordable ones or four k. resolution and Their series which is their mainstream series. Which is a spectacular television Right now caused by twenty two hundred bucks twenty three hundred bucks so about one hundred dollars slightly more expensive than the tcl but it's an old lead. You know based on everything. I've seen i'll say this upfront. Haven't seen this. Tcl eight k tv at in person. So i don't know for sure. What is fish qualities like but just based on underlying technology led versus you know the q. Lead lcd technology that uses. I think the g. lead will have a better overall picture despite having lower resolution.

John Foley on Peloton's Growth in the Pandemic

"John. Thanks for joining me today. I'm excited to be here. Thanks John. Appreciate it last time I saw was in the offices this was right before. was declared and we all went home, and so that's been several months but think it's fair to say that we could tell things were getting serious about cove nineteen at that point but couldn't have imagined what was going to happen over the course of the next month and full blown pandemic. In the way, it would hit your business in our business in every business in between. That's right. Twenty, twenty twenty what a what a wild year so far so far. One of the consequences for Peleton was having Jaeger critical new product launch and I really WanNa get into that and talk in depth about what's coming. But let's look backward a little bit not inconsequential at all is telling me you know what's gone on in these nearly last six months what they've been like running a business people lobby spent hunkering down in their homes and gyms have been closed and you offer these livestream workouts right in the home with the device, and early in the pandemic in fact, you guys were reported in the ninety four percent jump in your over your subs. I know there's been hiccups and it'll you've had a hard time immediately filling orders for instance, but it has has the pandemic Ben. Good. For Peleton. Well, it's hard to say good in the same sense with pandemic. At all but to your point, John It's definitely been wind in our sails as far as our bike sales and tread sales, and we've just been frankly happy to be there for our members are existing numbers in our new members who are buying bikes and threads and still getting them delivered, and we were also pretty excited to be able to innovate and bring the the live studio content from not from our studios anymore of for the for a couple of months but from the homes of our instructors. we continue our live format and connection with our with community through the crisis. So it was to your point a lot lots to do was a wild time for us like like everybody, but your business has been has been strong for sure also a little bit. You've got extensive background in ECOMMERCE and you know a number of different technology platforms and then legacy business like Barnes and noble once upon a time where the head of ECOMMERCE. Obviously everybody going into the pandemic lot of uncertainty in a lot of unknowns. And probably a moment of what's this going to do to our fledgling business? But when did it go from that to we have this enormous opportunity. That we're going to have to walk through and we're going to have to do it quickly and as you know as as as as successfully as we can. It happened very quickly John. I mean I I think it was Friday the thirteenth ironically in March when. Found of everyone stopped going to work and working from home and it became obvious and evident that this pandemic was upon us and it was going to be meaningful. Within a week or two of that, we saw a massive surge in our sales and we knew that this was a moment that people are going to Peleton in their home, and we we did see it as an opportunity to be totally opportunistic. We right away started giving away our digital content for ninety day, free trial which wasn't the best business because we still had to pay our music partners but we didn't care. We wanted to do our part for our communities and to help people stay saying in the pandemic so We were at one point I mean we're obviously in parallel scaling our supply chain or manufacturing and trying to make more bikes and tries as fast as possible. But we also have the pure software and digital content platforms across any one of your devices whether it's your phone, your IOS or android phone, or any of your television screens through Apple, TV android, TV fire, TV Roku, all these other platforms that you can engage with our content and do strengthen yoga and all the different stuff. So in that world, it wasn't dependent on our honor scaling supply chain. So we decided to give that ninety days away for free to new members, and we saw a massive explosion in that as well. So You know you alluded to this already and and it's it's a big topic of conversation and focus for investors is this growth curve in these growth big growth that you're planning? Because the addressable market for exercise gear is so large and the shifting dynamics of not being able to go you know at your whim to the local gym and use theirs is fueling even more enthusiasm but also pressure, and then you've got on top of this, you'll start about this virtual community where people can used gear but they can also use the community with people that they're getting to know or or somebody recognizable in the instructor. So you're about to test whether there's an appetite for a wider range. Of Palestine products, I'd like you to talk about what's coming out and how it's different than what the company already offers. You have a twenty two hundred dollar bike right now in a forty, three, hundred dollar treadmill, which are the main staples from what we know if we're going to A. Showroom on the website. So so what's coming in what's different about what you already offer? Yes. So we have two main lines of business as you know John and it's a stationary bike platform and then ate a treadmill platform. And the current bike is who have been called the best cardio machine on the planet the original Peleton bike, and what we're announcing is our Peleton plus and it's a new platform with a bigger screen that swivels now and allows from that bike platform our members to engage in all of our content whether it's the yoga or the strength or the boot camp or all of the different styles of content that we offer. They can now engage in that in a much more convenient easy to consume experience on the Peleton bike plus platform. In parallel, we've been working on a new treadmill platform, our original peleton tread, plus is the forty, five, hundred dollar but product that is kind of the Rolls Royce of the category because it has the Slat belt technology and it's one of the best running surfaces in the world if not the best running surface. And what we're bringing to market this month is a lower price tread that in a really open up the market and make it much more affordable for people to get a Peleton tread and take our boot camp classes and are running classes from home and really do full body workouts. Now whether it's on the less expensive treadmill that has a belt technology or with our Peleton bike plus which now allows you to consume. All of our content and not just the great cardio, but also the strength and the full body content on that. So the summary John is that we now have a portfolio on the bike side and on the trade side, a bike and a bike plus and a tread and tread plus. So depending on how much you're looking to spend and what you're looking to do we have now four options for you to engage pelivan platforms.

Microsoft Reveals Foldable Surface Neo & Surface Duo

"Was a big surprise in the Microsoft announcement this morning that we're a couple of the very end right at the very end. They did their whole one more thing but I think it was more like a one point. One thing was one more thing and then. Why did he go? offstage aged came back is like oh actually literally said thank you thank you thank you as if aren't descended a story and then we get the neo which is a beautiful beautiful dual display device but did duo right after that that was quite a surprise quite a surprise and I mean and we've been hearing for a long time now. That Microsoft is just out of the mobile phone game. Allegedly allegedly didn't really work for for them so they kind of you know back to the drawing board apparently and so the duo is actually running android right right. That's part of the reason that we we would talk about this on this. Show show What did you think like? It's kind of seems like we know very little about it. At this point right again. I'm going to go on record as I said into livestream that we ahead here on the network The duo. I'm not sold on it because I'm just not ready for the foldable phone. I just don't see where that fits in my workflow. I noticed some some people that think have an extra screens in their pocket is just giving them a smaller version of a tablet but I just can't get into it. I do like the the fact that the screen is not foldable itself. There's a space in between the hinges so you don't have to deal with what Samsung was dealing with for twenty two hundred dollar device conventionally wear out regardless of how many times they tested it in their labs so you got that going for it yep but the neo on the other hand I totally addicted. I totally dig that now. The NEO is not android this zone and windows ten only right 10x are what what about it and has you because you getting productivity out of you have the dual screens but you can have they say like a smaller laptop if you will you get the extra keyboard that pulls out that's magnetically attached to it. It can slide to give you an extra touch bar like what micro macro mcadoo back on the macbook pros the touch bar but it's actually useful not getting into way always in tablet. I'm sorry the NEO is a tabular tape attached keyboard right right but does this is just small enough now the way they demoted in in in the key notice noticed they were holding it more like a book yeah. I don't necessarily they were holding a book. I don't like that I I it give it more of a clam shell productivity form and I and I'm with they called it a posture as what they kept saying during the keynote posture okay if you set it up more like a laptop I think is a great great device for about a nine nothing was nine inch display okay but the phone the duo nice that they're jumping in with the android world and trying to get that market share here but it's not for me but they they went to great lengths from what I understand to not call it a phone right. No why why development yeah this isn't coming out until twenty twenty one twenty corral this year I give them credit for not rushing into into it the way other. Oem's have but it is nice to just wait yeah early early preview out more little more than a a year from now the version that they were showing has a snapdragon eight fifty five which is this year's nearly top of the line of his time line until the fifty five plus came out so you know if they stick with that in and it comes out next year you're running into the complaints of like okay but again this is is this is a nonproduction version NATO to hopefully that would upgrade by then my like. I totally agree like I'm not a big Fan. There's something it calls its innovation arm and DWA labs. It's bringing financial tech to domestic workers. It's new platform called Leah directs digital payments towards benefits for housecleaners. Marketplace's Lila Goldstein talked with one user about the platform, alleviate Mahia is a house cleaner in Brooklyn. Her son David is in the third grade and has a lot of school trips in always always he won. I can go with him. It used to be saying, yes, meant losing income. But last year, she went with her son's class to the prospect park zoo and still got paid thanks to a platform called Leah. It helps gig workers like her earned benefits. Like paid time off she pulls up the website on her phone Huma Boya plataforma. The leeann is the Mittel me contra Sania, she logs in chooses the worker option and sees a total dollar amount. It's money clients have contributed specifically for benefits clients select the client option find their house cleaners account and choose whether to give the platform recommends five dollars per cleaning this money can only be used for benefits offered by Leah then go toward or contracts. Didn't they eat thing goals will they be their Mahy is taken out life insurance and accident insurance. She also took to pay days off. Here's how bad stun when a worker reaches one hundred twenty dollars on a Lia. They can trade it in for a prepaid visa card like a lot of financial tech tools. Elliott automates something that can be complicated for workers to do on their own longtime workers advocate Pollock Shah helped develop the Elliott platform. What technology is really doing is in neighboring all. All of these multiple parties coordinating them taking all this transactions. Putting it all in one place, and allowing for the worker to be able to draw down those benefits, and it gives clients a more formal way to contribute to benefits Mahia is already comfortable communicating virtually she rarely sees her clients. She just text them notamment them excluding this. They huddle Yemi Leoneto soda. She gets a key. Refunds are shrinking under the new tax law

"Anne Cates. Most households got tax cuts under the 2017 law. But according to the Wall Street Journal tax cuts and tax refunds are not the same thing the tax cut is the change in what people owed for twenty eighteen compared with what would have been do if congress had done nothing. The refund is what happens when the IRS sends back any extra money people paid during twenty eighteen about two thirds of households are getting tax cuts paying less in twenty eighteen individual income taxes than they would have under the old system. Many but not all will get larger refunds and they typically do an estimate for the tax policy center. Fined sixty five percent of families will get tax cuts averaging just under twenty two hundred dollars. But tax payers won't see that effect. If they compare last year's refund with this year's and experts at Jackson Hewitt tax service are concerned consumers may incorrectly perceive that if they get back less than expected, then they're in a worst economic position, and that could show up in the form of weaker

"But today, we're talking about specifically the idea of do you put money into your Roth four one K or Roth IRA or do you utilize it occurred account, assuming that your taxes will be lower in retirement because that's what you're doing when you're deferring. And the first thing that I think a lot of you if you've listened to the show, you know this. But if you're new to this show, maybe you haven't heard this you realize that when you put ten grand in your 4._0._1._K out of your paycheck. And let's say right now, you're in a twenty two percent bracket you make one hundred grand a year, you're married. You put ten thousand of your hundred grand ten percent doing a good job. Saving into your 4._0._1._K. CPA says, hey, you just saved twenty two hundred bucks on your taxes. Right. Make sense, right? Because you put ten thousand into your 4._0._1._K, you deferred all that income. And since you're in a twenty two percent bracket. Twenty two percent of the ten thousand is twenty two hundred bucks. So you saved twenty two hundred dollars right wrong. Incorrect all you did was go to the IRS and ask. If you could claim that ten thousand dollars of income later later, meaning when you're in retirement taking the withdrawal out, and then when you take out the ten thousand dollars in retirement, you'll pay tax at whatever rate you're in. We'll give you an idea that you'd have to make very little money prior to the Trump tax reform to get below twenty two percent. It would have been very challenging to get below twenty two percent. If you've saved a decent amount of money in your 4._0._1._K meeting. You would have saved at twenty two. And then you're going to take it out in my opinion. You're gonna end up taking this out at twenty five thirty five forty depending on who gets elected president, and what rates go to but they're going up. And so we don't want to just blindly put money into deferred accounts asking to pay tax later, because we're working when many cases we're going to have to pay more later, and one of the things that's really nice about roths, and why they work really well for a lot of savers is because the early withdrawal rules are much more flexible, right? And although we would obviously discourage you taking withdrawals from retirement accounts before retirement and certainly from roths where all the money grows tax free. It's like the golden goose you don't wanna take that money. You want that to grow? If you have to break the seal the Roth allows you to withdraw contributions the money that you put into the account, right? Not the earnings, but the money you put in at any time without any taxes or any penalties. Let's face it life as long stuff happens. There are a lot more flexible than getting hit with taxes in a ten percent penalty. Like you do on your deferred accounts. So that's one of the benefits number two. The Roth has fewer restrictions for retirees. What happens at seventy and a half with your deferred accounts with your IRA's with your 4._0._1._K's? What happens at seventy and a half. Those you listening there seventy one seventy two you know, this. They're called our MD's required. Minimum distributions. That's when the IRS comes and says, hey, you've been deferring this income along time. You are now going to be required to take a distribution. And every year, you get older we're gonna make you take a higher percentage out of that account. The goal is to kind of have you drained it down by about one hundred roundup, and you'll be beholden to pay taxes that whatever the rates are at that time. And if we have twenty trillion dollars of debt and everything's under funded, and we're in the lowest tax environment today. The where we're going to see what do you think they're going to be? Twenty years from now, we'll hard to forecast very hard to forecast, but they likely will be higher, and you can't not take out the our MD. It's a fifty percent penalty. If you choose not to have you say, hey, I have a pension and other income I need it. Doesn't matter. Take it out or pay a fifty percent penalty on a Roth IRA. No, our MD's. You can let it sit there throughout all of retirement and passage your kids tax free number three Roth IRA's easier to get money to your heirs. I just hit on it. If you pass away a lot of our clients here keystone, they have money when they pass away. Right. That's the plan. We don't want him to run out of money. So they die with money. Well, do you think that when your child is sixty or fifty five sixty sixty five whenever they inherit the money in their in their peak earning years normally that they may be in a higher tax bracket. Then the eighty five year old who's just passing away. We in many cases, they're in a lot higher bracket. So why would you want to defer money at your current tax bracket in retirement, and then pass it to a child? I mean, we've had scenarios where they're passing it to a child who's a neurologist who lives in California who's making eight hundred thousand a year there right now already in almost a fifty. Percent bracket at historically low rates between state and federal in many cases that retirees and a twelve percent bracket, and they're deferring at twelve so their kids can get it and pay fifty like I said one of the benefits of Roth IRA's, it goes your kids tax free. So not only do you not have to take anything out at seventy and a half. If you don't want to so it can continue to grow for your beneficiaries. But when they get it. It's just like life insurance. Proceeds totally tax-free a number four funding a Roth in conjunction with other deferred. Money's provides tax diversification. Here's what I mean. Most of you listening right now. Again, I've already said it on the show most of you listening. The majority of what you've saved our tax deferred accounts. Most of the money, you have saved if you have a million dollars saved if you're like most people six seven eight nine hundred thousand of that is all deferred in four one ks IRA's. So if you start doing Roth conversions or you start funding now, the nineteen thousand India Roth four one K at work or the twenty four thousand depending on your age ended up Roth one K at work instead of the traditional you'll pay a little more tax right now, you'll be paying a little more. Money on your tax return this year because you're not deferring. But now, you're creating a bucket of money that you're paying tax today, really historically, unbelievably low rates, and you're getting a bucket of money growing and building that you are not forced ever pay tax on again. So now, you're getting diversification depending on who's in office, depending on what rates go to and you'll have a much more flexible retirement because you won't be as beholden to water tax rates, and so making the call to conclude this idea of Ross first traditional I mean, the sole advantage of the traditional IRA or four one K is the up front tax break, and I'm not dismissing this benefit it can be a huge benefit and advantage for high income earners and a great incentive for people that might otherwise skip saving for retirement in the short term, it effectively makes it cheaper to save for retirement since the tax savings. Each year reduces the cost of your contributions, you'll eventually have to face the tax burden in retirement, which means unless you really need that tax break or you think taxes are going to get a lot lower in the future. From what they are today with the Trump tax reform. It's really hard to go wrong with at least really taking a hard look at roths conversions contributions. But still don't take my word for it. I mean, I'm talking to thousands of you listen to the radio and all your situations are unique so come in if you'd like to know more about how this works for your specific situation. What type of conversions you could be doing right now from your traditional monies to get them into roths and fill up the low tax brackets, you may be in. If you've recently retired and your income's a lot lower. Give us a call because you have some amazingly unique opportunities early in retirement to take advantage of this Trump tax reform, we're doing that for all of our clients here keystone, and my concern is or having new people call up and come in and say, hey, we'd like to retirement member you and they're coming in and say, hey last year eighteen we did nothing. And I'm just like what we did nothing their incomes really low because they may be just retired you're gonna historically low tax environment. So if you're listening, you have this big pot of money deferred, whether it's two hundred thousand five hundred thousand million whatever that you've never pay tax on. And you don't have one hundred percent conviction that you have a strategy right now to get that out his tax efficiently as possible, call us and get the retirement map review..
