"And here's what's happening kitchen get the newsletter coming up in about twelve minutes from now a guest who has made any number of appearances here on the show you knew him as an incredibly successful competition pit master a purveyor of rubs and sauce a one of the most mentioned and talked about cooking class instructors back when cooking classes were really starting to take a hold over this competition scene and the list goes on and on I think at last count as we were talking about last week and Barbecue Central Show Guest Hall of Famers. In the neighborhood of twelve times that's a dozen may be working on a Baker's dozen here. This evening fee pitmasters of pellet envy as many of you know him rod gray making his triumphant return to the show. If. You are a listener especially last week you'll know that rod gray was one of the five that was inducted into the twenty twenty barbecue central shows guest all some people were. Doing their own posts unsolicited by me unconfirmed by me. Leaving key words out like gassed. And I think other people that were commenting on other people's posts were thinking that my five got into a barbecue hall of fame. I don't want to say that that is incorrect. However, that is incorrect. Get into the guest hall of fame of this show. I. Just want to be very clear about that. Not that that's demeaning or any less. Wonderful, life changing you put the adjectives and descriptors as you see, fit? But just to make sure that we're on the same page. After Rod Gray, we will be joined by first time or the show somebody that is a co host of a barbecue podcast as well. His name is Lendl Strand and he is a co host of the tailgate guys barbecue show and as I listened to that show and I listened to Lindell talk about. How disenchanted he has become with the judges judging his meets at competition. And I wanted to have him on to talk about the never ending topic of debate and or things that cause competition cooks consternation at the forefront continues to be judged. And we will hash it out with lendl and say, Hey, man is this really judging issue or is your food socking and you're looking for a way to get out of it to make yourself look a little better. Let's own to what we should be owning up to that your first our move to the second hour. As I mentioned last week after I gave you my take on the American barbecue showdown on net flicks. Also quick to tell you that my new man crush in the whole world is Rashid Phillips and he will be in. Until Barbecue competent. Talk to Rasheed bought his background. If you've watched the show, you know there's some Jamaican heritage going on there but we'll also see how he got on the show and all the behind the seats of all, ask the questions that I want to ask of course. And we'll see how that whole barbecue scene is going for him. And then closing out the show. So we're book ending the show with the twenty twenty barbecue guest, Hall of Famers Rod Gray on the first book end, and then joining me to close the show coming out of the bullpen as we say is a show favourite Lemay Oxley.

"Then approached. Then Pat lafrieda. Oh boy. Let me write that down because now we have gone into the Too Faced. So right now if you're keeping track Rod gray has two votes. Lynnae Oxley Loop has to votes Pat lafrieda has two lumps the two votes. I agree with Doug Pat lafrieda has been a fantastic guests. He's brought a tremendous amount of engine light into a portion of the barbecue industry and Grilling industry and restaurant industry that I had no idea existed. I had you know, I just didn't even know where the hell it was coming from every once in a while. I'd see a Cisco trailer out front of somewhere and I just figured it all rolled down the dolly from there, but there had had to be coming from another place on top of that before delivery and here is a business like Pat lafrieda who's getting orders at 2:00 in the morning for cuts to be then shipped out for something. It's going to be served later that day. I mean It was absolutely mind-blowing the fact that were dug. What was the percentage was it 85% of his inventory being sold was dry aged beef to some degree. Yeah. It was dry-aged was a crazy in the building a new Warehouse. It was saying amount of percentage of dry aged beef which just goes to show how popular that portion is. So Pat lafrieda wins for me. Oh by the way, folks in case you're keeping score. We have our first twenty20 barbecue Central show guest Hall of Famer. That is Rod gray. I picked him as well. So we Mark him off. Look. I don't know what one can say about Rod gray in his Heyday. There were a few guests that were as happy to appear whenever I asked I don't know how many times he's been on the show, but it has been a number of times. It has been one-off segments 12. * thank you. It's been one off segments. He's been part of some of the best Round Table shows that I have done in the past. He is never held anything back. We one of the most popular solo segments that he ever did was when we talked about sponsorship of barbecue teams. When your team how do you go about soliciting sponsorships things that you need to do in order to be attractive to somebody that's going to be spending their money on you. He's been an absolute pleasure place. Not that she's in the Hall of Fame. His wife is very knowledgeable as well. So a great team there Rod has been a great guest over these you haven't seen him recently because I mean, he just hasn't been doing a lot of competition. No or anything that's really generated a reason for him to come on. But if he ever asked to come on, I'm sure I would make room for him. So Rod gray is the first inductee to the twenty-twenty barbecue Central Chicago guest Hall of Famer. So congratulations to Rod gray.

"But let's not wait any longer showing. Let's get right to business as we welcome back friend of the show. Emily Emily. I am fabulous and we have a big day. It's been building and building ever since we released here on the show, the semifinalist of nine a couple of weeks ago and three weeks later. We are already here. We'll be announcing. The Twenty Twenty Barbecue Hall of Fame Class and I am extremely grateful that once again for the second year in a row you. You have decided to partner with the barbecue, essential show, and announce this kind of in conjunction, as you are getting ready to release this through all the PR and social media channels, and so forth so what of the last three likes are the last three weeks been like for you guys over at the hall of fame in anxious anticipation for this day. It's been great over here. I mean the amount of people who've been engaged in this process and really part of that has been wonderful since the listed so broad and kind of like all over the state, there's so many cities that are getting recognized not just for that person, but really liked their contribution to barbecues. That's been great I probably you had some of our committee members on your show, and that was really entertaining to get their feedback to and just keep keep this all. Go and keep the conversation going you know with. We to really celebrate it kind of two months of the year, and that's like in May and then it September, so it's nice to really add a lot of excitement around it, so we appreciate your help on that to less anybody, think Adrian and Dr. Barbecue were very firm. Right up front with saying hey I'm not going to give you my people that I would vote less anybody think that Daniel von actually gave me his. Don't even think twice about. He he does it because he knew the ribbing that was going to be coming because he was the one that nicknamed the fact that on this show when people show up, you have to be courageous and give true answers so in order to take a little less of a beating. He just threw out three names and then quickly. Email me back after the fact that said you know I didn't give you the real list. Right and I said of course I know that, but at least. You You stood up and pretended to be correct. If we can't really be courageous, emily, we can least pretend to be courageous so Do you have? We don't even have to worry about that? We get to just tell you the winner. That's right. That's right. We are going to go right after it so Is there anything that we need to address prior to releasing names, or are you locked and loaded and ready to go? We're walking lung ready go. My question to you is to. We have been new legacy category too, so we can release those names as well to utilize power WANNA do that. You went legacy first, and then the three inductees as well or. Let's do legacy I, no doubt. Okay all right well, we will jump right in so the to legacy member so to fine for everyone what this is is, we have added this. Category this year where we are including two additional member, so there will be five inducted each year up to three. Maybe in the future we'll have more that These individuals have are now deceased but have. Really paved the way for where we all stand today so these inductees actually have been voted on by the committee members and are included in this list so this year we will be including. James Lemon. Of Chicago Limb Barbecue, those who don't know it and then Warner's steamy North Carolina Barbecue. The Godfather of Lexington, as as many may have known about that, so we're very excited to honor them As. We know that you know those names get past every year. Just because you know, they're not as famous in our our courage time so each year will at least honor to potentially more we to add more to that category every year. When, you guys are talking about the legacy members or the potential people who be included on this list. What are you guys taking into account? We talked many times about how you guys whittled down. That original list of names nominated to get through to the semi-final list of nine, which is eventually put out for vote to the Living Hall of fame members, but what about the legacy category? It's pretty similar. I mean I think you know all the names of the folks who are on this committee, and not only are they just Very engaged and barbecue, but they're basically barbecues historians, so they know the path of how we got here, and that kind of the goal is you know. What are these folks and let me tell you? That list is long of people who should be including legacy, and we want to add every year, but you know what have they done? That's really impacted, not only maybe. Maybe, a region maybe a way we cook now maybe I'll full dining style or even cooking style, and really something that they've done that. It's like their whole life. That had completely paved the way for us I. think that is the most important thing you know. It's something different to be someone who was just ingrained in barbecue in your life I if someone who. taught a full region how to cook and really changed the course of that so like. If you look at warm worse me I mean. It's north, Carolina Lexington, style barbecue. The whole thing is kind of goes back to him, so it was really kind of part of it, and I will say in the best way this group that the committee members. Argue it out, but not argue out in a bad way. In a really good way everybody bringing how they feel about it and we make sure that the grip can get that list down even though it's Kinda tough. It's going to be interesting to see how that goes on through the years and the names that get in because as you said, there's an extremely long list of names that deserve again, and for the folks that have passed away We want to make sure that we're remembering them properly and making sure that they're getting just do if they are so eligible to get into the Barbecue Hall of fame because we want the best, that's what the hall of fame is about right. It's about putting the best of the best in. Yeah, so we're excited to add that in Mostly at Grove year, it'll be great all right well. We've come to what they call the main events where we will find the three members making up the class of twenty twenty. Are you ready emily? I am ready. Are you ready? I couldn't.

"Audio up here and I think that gets us all on guys me. Go ahead and a welcome you in right. So Greg who's got your vote. Who would your top three. Be Out of this list for how. Let's ease into this date. Let's not just jump right into bed. Daniel I mean holy crap. Wow we I mean I guess we know how you watch All right so closing out. The first hour I spoke with the host of the pitmasters podcast Anthony Luhan and Rusty Monson who both competed in an sea event in their home state of Utah. Just your summary Thoughts here. Are you guys surprise that there was a competition and are what are your thoughts on having that stuff start to potentially roll out across the country? Your thoughts on that. Wow What I want to sit at a judge's table not quite knowing how that food was treated before it arrived to me. I I don't know I mean I guess You know these days the the big argument here in Texas is Not THAT WE HAVE. A lot of our dining rooms opened up. Are you willing to go eat inside restaurant or you willing to go sit inside a dining room and get your food and a lot of people are a little wary about that for for health purposes but You know the other part of that is like if we're okay getting takeout That's still a lot of trust that putting in the kitchen. I guess that's the same level of trust you'd have to be putting into a Janney food that shows up at a judge's table Except the problem is if you're a restaurant you know who served to you if you're at the Judges Table Not so much ray. Your thoughts on competition starting to roll out in some form. The point where I mean. It's like everything else. I you know I had this conversation with my neighbor today. Everybody's gotTa do what they think is right right now. You Know I. I'm doing what I think is right and everybody else needs to do the same thing and God bless him. I hope we're all right. You know nobody's wrong on these decisions but I you know. I'M NOT GONNA Judge Anybody. Right now and I hope they don't judge me. Adrian your thoughts on competitions rolling out as long as they can do it safely. I'm open to the idea but like Ray. I'm I'm a little skeptical but if they can be safe do it. All Right. We are here talking with. And and by the way we do have Adrian back up and running here. So let's we have Adrienne Miller Daniel von Ray lampy joining me here on the show. We're here to talk about the nine semi finalists on the Twenty Twenty Barbecue Hall of fame ballot before we start to break down the names and their significance of the live fire industry. I don't want to just assume that everybody knows who you guys are as I gain new listeners. All the time and I just don't assume we all love to think everybody knows of course but can we take just a brief second. Get a little background on each of you guys. How long you've been on the Committee for the Barbecue Hall of fame and perhaps more importantly what you feel. You are bringing to that committee table. In regards to knowledge qualification. And all this stuff so Adrian. Let's start with right. I'm Adrienne Miller call myself. Soul food scholar. My tagline is dropping knowledge like hot biscuits so I was born and raised in Denver Colorado which loses me all street cred on the subject of Barbecue but Written a book on the history soul food black the White House and now I'm writing a book on the history of African American Barbecue. Should be out in a year from now and being barbecue joints all around the country. It's tradition I grew up in I've on the committee for this is about a year now. This is my second time going through the voting and one of the things that I'm really interested is just a a making sure that we have a diverse inclusive Barbecue all fame. That celebrates excellence as well. Daniel von your qualifications in quick background while it's a big on right there Well this is an industry that I've studied since long before I even became barbecue editor So as far as studying the names in the in the competition world Certainly more familiar with the restaurants for world as well as the historical figures So I feel like I'm Well rounded in. I guess knowledge of all those different industries You know and really when it comes down to it. We're all in a big committee here and I'm feel like I'm pretty good at arguing as well. And that's that's half the fun Ray lampy. Who are you just showed up here? I mean I'm pretty. Well known I think my my background in the barbecue competition world but you know along with that came a obsession with barbecue which covers so many things so I I accidentally became a pretty well. Schooled historian on my own Like I said people thinking me as the competition guy but I wrote a book Barbecue Road trip in two thousand four and you know so. I've been studying this thing from all sides for a long time. I'm the new guy on the committee in quite an honor to be included with these guys are like I said I myself was a cook but And I think these guys are the guys who are writing and doing all the research and stuff and it's kind of fun to be included with him. Do you think it is important for you know if it wasn't you if it was somebody of your ilk to be in this committee so it's not just a bunch of guys that are well versed on the history and the culture but somebody who has also been on the cooking not saying these guys don't Cook but you know I'm you know from a competition side who knew who are seeing it from a different perspective. Well I think the other guys comment on it but I think there were people on the list that I was more familiar with than the other. Panelists just because I've lived in that world. Maybe more of us you know Adrian said diversity. And I'm a huge proponent of that I I've been a little bit involved with the barbecue all fame since inception Mike Tucker and Ray. Basso good friends of mine when they started it and I've always felt diversity was the what was going to make it viable and I mean black people white people fat ones skinny ones Texans and Carolinians and men and women and you name it I mean every every single possible angle diversity needed to happen and liquid pretty good job so I hopefully. I bring a little bit of that to the table to Daniel. Be The the FAT White Guy so. I'm not perfect and may diverse classes but but I sure do like a lot of diverse folks. Dan Did you think it's good to have somebody of of Race standing on that committee to to bring his point of view. Well I mean absolutely I was GonNa stop you before and say It's sounds like saying raise not cultured which I'd have to argue with That was actually really refreshing to a raise input You know we had. We've got lots of folks here On the list who who are from the restaurant side which I am well versed in But a lot of folks from the competition side that maybe I wasn't as well versed in I mean I'll say right now that Bill Arnold wouldn't be on the list without Raise input really filling us in on his imports. Not Somebody who is incredibly well known from You know stacking all the wins and grand championships competitions. Like you know tuffy stone. Who's already in the hall of fame and Darren Worth us on the list here You know it was somebody who had a real contribution to competition barbecue that Maybe isn't as obvious as putting big trophies up there and and really I think without raising input I think we none of us would have been as well educated on On really what he brought to the game Adrian your thoughts on having a guy like ray on the panel this time. Yeah I'm just GonNa Echo Daniel Kazaa. I didn't know a lot. A lot about the competition. Finalists or the nomination. So Ray was very helpful in kind of sorting that out so Yeah I'm glad to have him in the mix so let's talk a little. Let me say I want to say Greg. I want to say something about that. I I am happy to carry the torch for the competition. Guys I asked the beginning of the meeting if that was my position there But I can tell you and I hope these guys will back me up. I I question the competition guys too. When we talk about diversity I also WanNa see a diverse career for these hall of fame guys and just wanted a bunch of trophies. Cut It for me. You know it. It's going to be an important part but you gotta do some other stuff all right So let's talk about the hall of fame here just for a second and its history for a bit and you might find it hard to believe guys but there are some folks out there who have no idea that there was a barbecue hall of fame that it even exists. Can't believe even if there's no physical place. They didn't even know that there was a barbecue hall of fame. So Ray you alluded to it a couple of minutes ago but and you probably know more about the history of the Barbecue Hall of fame prior to the American royal getting. Its hands on it. So the best bessie recollection. How was it born? And how and who were the folks that originally installed this? Yeah Well Ray. Basso who had the original? Bbq Forum starts in. I think ninety five and back in the day there was nowhere else to hang out. We didn't have facebook and all that and so a lot of barbecue. Guys were were made friends there and Mike. Tucker from hog is barbecue up in Right outside the MOINA. Anthony Iowa Mike was always a big proponent. Mike would always fund these these crazy projects so they bought Whatever that website that they use is and they started to barbecue hall of Fame Online and those are now known as the legacy candidates early legacy members when they sold it or was a transaction that they gave it to the the American royal and the intention was to take it to the next level I don't know why the American royal always considered those members different than everybody else but they do and that's what that's all about But it's it's been a good thing I you know it. We started way too late man. This thing needed to start fifty years ago and I think we're getting there but when you look at that list there's just so many people that do belong into Barbecue Hall of fame and it's GonNa take a while to get caught up. That's what I what I think. We just started way too late Adrian. We have been some of the. We've seen some of the biggest evolutions Of the hall sense. It has transitioned from the online entity. That ray was talking about to the American royal taking over. What do you think some of the biggest changes that you've seen over that timeframe are so just getting it started enrolling has been good I do quibble though about the diversity. I don't think we have enough especially African. Americans represented in our Barbecue Hall of fame. Which is one reason why I got involved but I think that it's starting to show a nice spread of diverse styles in different genres within barbecue..

"Is live. We do it live doing. Why do it live right and we doing going forward if I tell you and promote and put myself out there that the show is going to be live if it's not on a Tuesday between nine and eleven? Pm Eastern rest assured that whatever day the other show is airing? If I say it's live it's Li- live. It would take an extraordinary bag to promote a live. Show only to have it in the can to throw up because it was taped. Do I have baggy tendencies? Sure it's what endeared me to the audience but I'm not a total bag and that is what a total bag would do by the way I have a show. Programming note may twenty seventh a Wednesday at three PM eastern same as this past Wednesday by the way I will be doing another live show with the American royal where we will be announcing live. Do It life the twenty twenty. Barbecue Hall of fame class and it will be done live remember. I'm a trendsetter not a follower. Not Someone who mails it in? We do exclusive live. Shit right here on this show and we do it lie. What live not doing this sometimes on Tuesday. It live to summarize if I'm promoting a live show in advance and the day comes for a live show. We'll do it live and during the live. Show I tell you we're doing a special live show do it live? You can trust me when I tell you that we are doing it. Live through it live do then. We'll do it live. There's just no reason that I'm going to spend all the time and energy and effort to say it's a live show. I mean everybody does taped. Anybody can do it. Everybody can do it. Takes a certain kind of animal to sit there and Promo live and then do a live show which is exactly what we did on. Alleged.

"Anthony and rust and I can't wait to talk to them and see how that whole thing went down. Believe it or not if you look on the docket. There were supposed to be three competitions. Came off this past weekend. I have confirmation the two did Texas one. There's one in Utah. Because I saw the actual awards being a streamed live by the guys for Pit Master. Podcast so And there was all supposed to be one Alabama I think but I have no No Way of knowing if indeed that one actually took place or not having seen that but there were supposed to be three. I think this coming weekend is a was empty. But the following weekend Had A number of competitions as well so this past weekend in Utah. There was a state competition. I WanNa talk to these guys. Feel how was it attended? What were the rule the whole insight? I WanNa see how that whole thing went out. Then we'll move to the second hour. If you watched the live show on Wednesday you'll know we exclusively announced the nine semi finalists for the two thousand twenty Barbecue Hall of Fame Potential Class. Three make it of the nine and I have formed a most distinguished panel to go over the nine what they bring to the table why they might be considered as worthy enough to make it to the semi finalist. Potentially being the final three to get in that of course an all three by the way on the nominating committee there at the Barbecue Hall of Fame vis-a-vis The American Royal Association. "Com is the website if you're up in that neck of the woods and You want to put in a time slot or do that. Why not help out Darren and everybody over there as we get through this time? Outside of the Business Darren House grand parenting life man there is. Everybody always told me it would change my life and I kinda discounted that a little bit. you talk about. Change Your Life. I mean just just crazy you know and we've been so busy at the restaurant. I really only get a see they by you know maybe once a week maybe twice. If I'm lucky actually you know tomorrow morning. I haven't seen him all week long tomorrow. Morning's by I'm going to go to breakfast. Sneak out for breakfast at seven. Am and go take breakfast to my daughter and getting to spend a half hour with him tomorrow morning so kind of excited about that I. It just brings a fresh joy to our life that nothing else matters. No matter how bad your day goes when you see the picture of the old Griffin man it it just brings you right back you know for me. It's it's weird because You know I'm sure you're not marking time like I would like to thank. Everybody does but you've been coming on this show at least for eleven years and I remember when we did the big brisket roundtable with you and Rod Steve Fair and when you guys were all chasing team of the year back then it never occurred to me all the way back then that I would be talking to anybody other than Darren. War that pitmasters guy. And now it's Darren worth pitmasters guy but also life changes life evolves. We all get older and now he's a grandfather because guess what we're all getting older year after year so evolution of life and a whole other even a grand parenting has to be better than any G see that you've knocked down so far right. Oh just just just amazing and I I actually what? It's just going to get better better. But he is. He is just I mean he just it. It's just something about. He just has many expressions. He's got one hundred expressions and he'll show them all in a matter of thirty seconds. You know so it gets a little. When he comes over to our house at night he gets a little grumpy. So that's why do breakfast business now? Instead of night visits because he seems to get a little more cranky when he comes to visit. Papa me So you know we we just over breakfast time and these happiest could be more than just like me. Get Him One. He's happy no doubt about now tomorrow. Darren we're going to be unveiling exclusively here on this show. We like to do the nine semi finalists for the two thousand twenty Barbecue Hall of fame. That class of course will be introduced in three weeks time after that on the twenty seventh you give any thought to getting into the Barbecue Hall of fame. Is that something that You I guess everybody would like to have it happen. I guess if you're in the industry but if it didn't happen would you even think twice about it now? I'm I'm not enough to be there. You're not old enough to be Chris Lilley's in there. I don't think I'm old enough to be there. I can you know you know the one thing about the Barbecue Hall of fame and I love the program and I love everything. That's happened The only the only issue that I have is. You know there's people on the inside and all you know that have had changed the sport forever but maybe not in the public eye you know for instance old Dave Old. Dave stamper out of Indiana. I guarantee Dave has taught more people how to barbecue than anybody else. But nobody's really ever heard of it. The old timers no of him But the but there's guys like that that their heart and soul was just into teaching and it wasn't about classes causing money. It was like hey come over here. I'll show you what to do for years and years and years so I I'd like to figure out some of that spirit. I mean I think I think Bill Arnold should have been there a long time ago. you know. He's one of the guys. That's the most deserving I mean think about blues hogs think about blue's hog and competition barbecue. I mean is there been any other product that had such a profound effect on competition barbed view as blue. Yeah no doubt I mean I think you say competition barbecue in the mind. Just kind of immediately goes to blues hog or Many of the other attempts add blues hog that are probably carrying a different label. I mean it's certainly a brand a flavor that has gone on for the one was the first time you used it or even heard about it. Oh I mean it was. It was years ago. I mean I BILL. Arnold used to deliver it to me In the back of his truck and was funny he would he would show up and he'd run these routes and he'd stop here at TNT landscaping hog as by redoing acne. And He'd show and the cases would be all wet in the back of his truck from raining and he was. He was making that sauce in his kitchen. You know and and we would. He would make it specially for us even as early as two thousand three two thousand four. You know we weren't. We weren't getting the something that was made. In fact rule gives us something that was made Kim and that happened for years You know until it got so popular and thing so Yeah been around a long time. There's things like that like smoking guns Barbecue. You know so it was a great mentor. Remind he's another one that should be on that list about how he's changed he was he was my original mentor in the restaurant. Business and in the competition world so You know and so when I truly good friends and usually talk at least every other week I if not be attached about what's going on so well. Those seem to be the pinnacle products. He was smoking guns hot. It was blue's Hog. I think similar NDOC was was in there as well like those. Were the pioneers right head. Country is well head country. Yeah I always. I always tell people you know. Today's rubs You know kind of they all have the same thing I mean. There's not much those were the original and I think you know not taking a little bit back to using some of those you know and there's certain things like you know smoking guns hot that you know they've they've made a little change in there made it because of me. 'cause we actually use that revenue restaurant we buy politics the time and we had You know we had a deal that customers kept talking to us about MSG and and how bad MSG was and certain things and they kind of caved into the pressure and said hey token you make me make me a batch of smoking guns hot with no MSG and they had to kind of reformulate a little bit and then fill thought it was a pretty good idea Of this for himself to just kind of switch over that whole Labor well what he didn't realize that it was a detriment to a lot of barbecue cooks Without having MSG but you know. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to announce but I have the first box of the new smoking guns hot original formula sitting in my car right now all right well we'll Anxiously await your social media review when she gets your tongue on that no doubt about so I mean obviously you guys would be you know pretty far into a competition season at this point or at least getting your feet wet. What do you miss most about competition? Is it the camaraderie and seeing those old friends and Getting to those contests you really like. Whether they're bigger not while I just the people you know just hanging out with the people Second of all it's the food you know. I mean it. Just you know almost brings tears to my eyes that we weren't able to go to Hammond. Louisiana Pensacola Florida and kind of do that annual trip. We always do and just eat our way along the coastline and seafood. And get a you know. Stop in and see our good buddy. Kevin Greenbelt is the butcher shop. Even though I don't really buy stuff he's still a great friend of mine. WE JUST. We just have a good time and we always stop there. And there's you know going down to Toronto and seeing Brad and getting some Buddha and cracklins and Just everything about it. I mean it's just it's tough but you know the fact that matters. I really haven't had time to even think about competition barbecue. Today was kind of the first day that I really sat down for a second and say wow. Where did that go? You know where. Where do we go from here? Because I haven't even looked at schedule. Truthfully I mean I know it's going to be a very compacted schedule. I think it's going to be like a NASCAR race. It right at the end that we're GONNA be going every weekend strong in August September all the way through the end of the year outside of the competition. It appears you might have filled some of that hobby with collecting bourbon bottles. You like a. What's more expensive Barbecue competitions or Burgh unskilled. I.

"Friend Steven Reich Lynn. So the show. Hey David Hey Greg how are you good? Do you have camera availability tonight or just voice. I'm looking at you right now. I'm on my iphone so I'm seeing you. I hope you can see me. Well we can but your sound absolutely fabulous usually For some reason skype decides to make it a default with not showing the camera. So you have that choice up Mir no. I see you and I see myself so not sure why it's not working. Well we'll see what happens here during the course of the next twelve the fifteen minutes or so so quick update on the June Twenty Twenty Barbecue University. Stephen Enrollment currently closed as I saw. Because guess what it's Sellout Ladies and gentlemen that's right always popular. Stephen does. This event always sell out Yeah pretty much. Yeah and we're in a new location. Space is limited But we are taking names for waiting. We helped her out a second session in the fall. So if you didn't make it to this one you know give your name sign up either barbecue. Bible dot com or through the montage Palmetto Blouse resort and Hopefully we'll be able to make space feed in the fall. All Right Steven. Let me ask you a question when it comes to these kind of things when you I would assume there's some type of an agreement or contract with the property is part of that understanding that you will be the one providing grills obviously curriculum but perhaps most importantly the marketing to book the classes out or does the resort also take some type of responsibility in that. Well I bring the grills I bring the program the marketing you know. It's a joint effort. I mean obviously I have a robust site and We have a big alumni base. So actually the program sold out within about three weeks of our Announcing it this year. But it's a partnership and I'm really excited about this year because we're a new part of the country We've been in Colorado Springs for twelve years. And now we're GONNA be in the South Carolina low country so there will be oyster roasts. There will be a whole flora and fauna of new foods. That I've never haven't don't customarily grill with so It's going to be a learning experience for me new adventure. I'm a water guy. Were right on the. May River fact You know I know in the time off after class. I'm GONNA be boating and fishing. Hope everybody else will be when you talk about the alumni. That's the word I was looking for. So for instance I know one of my unofficial embedded correspondents out there and the Colorado Slash Denver area is Dennis bus. Oh I think he's He is booked for this June's trip. That's going to be a new location yet for him again. I think this makes his fourth trip in a row is he? One of the more cagey veterans or their ones that have way more years of alumnus than him. You know we've got one threesome. That is I believe. They're going on about their fifteen year. Fifteen year yeah. We used to give him a funny story But we used to give him you know I. They got their graduate Amei and then a PhD and then opposed duck and at first. I say that it was a guy and a gal and we thought they were romance and then the couple years in the guy came with another woman who became his wife And they're all great friends in there. Just you know something. We look forward to all year getting together again. These aren't big family barbecue diversity. And these are folks who've live fire I and that's why they're going and there's also a nice resort or they really liked the resort. And also there happens to be hanging out with Steven Reich Lynn and upping their barbecue and grilling it. Well there's certainly a big barbecue enthusiasts but I think.
