Climate change: More than 3bn could live in extreme heat by 2070

"Proceedings of the National Academy of sciences notes an article in which it claims a billion people will be displaced or forced to enjoy insufferable heat this week now to one of the authors of the report Tim Lenton from Exeter university here in the U. K. welcome to the program this report focuses on the effects climate change will have in fifty years on human habitat so give us an idea how things might change well the world itself will be about three degrees centigrade it will not on average the places where people living on a well not more than that and also with the projected population grows mostly in already help places we expect the average person on the planet will be living in about seven degrees warmer temperatures now and what this does is it means that temperatures that hardly anybody sees today like about twenty nine degrees centigrade annual average temperature what we see in a few spots of the Sahara one city on the Gulf they become the kind of conditions that up to three billion or so people could be living in if we don't limit climate change I would talking about large parts of India was held last year your parts of northern Australia is is this I mean it's it's a temperature the people live in now but is it sustainable well that's the crucial question because people are incorrect incredibly at that school in the sense that we live in some of those almost anywhere but when conditions get fairly extreme a population density tends to be pretty low on the edges of the Sahara or even nothing near the ice sheets holes but what we're seeing in these projections is very large numbers of people on high density is projected to be in conditions which ready to die and so frankly that all six thousand yes as far as we can tell from data alone he supported very the population densities so people might be on to a top where they all but it would be not to have to answer that many of them like to use to try to move away if they can okay I think we we have a sweet spot don't wait for temperatures for human habitation for health and for food production system what is that what we found in our analysis the the he could have some human population density is centered on about thirteen degrees centigrade in the annual average temperature that's not just true for population density is true for our crops and livestock and interestingly it's true for economic productivity as well and that's being found in a completely independent study so

The supreme court said the Trump administration could limit travel from certain countries if there was a robust waiver process, but Betsy Fisher from the international refugee assistance project says the process is opaque. Those are the words on the page, but there is no formal process. There's no application form, and there's no way to track. How many people have or have not received these waivers? A waiver is supposed to be available to people who meet a three part task to their entry is in the national interest. They're not a threat to national security and they've experienced undue hardship. If denied entry. There's a dispute over the city's proposed change to admissions at specialized high schools, and it's in court both sides say they want the judge to rule quickly as WNYC's. "Because what what's happening is the snow from up north is melting and that we're getting the we're getting the effect. Yeah. So it's moving Sal is that not a convoluted excuse so the snow's melting because so hot and then we get the cold real. We don't get twenty below because it's no melts you idiot. If the snow's melting it's above freezing. So the cold air that will come in this way, be thirty three. Thirty four degrees is not like the snow melts. And then the air that's coming from the melted. Snow is twenty below where are these people getting this? I think it's just created. You know, I think I think they're they're they're going to symposiums with Al Gore. Well this polar vortex fill it means that there's warmer here at the North Pole. And it's pushing all this cold air down. You check it and see near the North Pole will be warmer than it is in Chicago. So let's check if I ready. Let's check the temperature of the north o negative twenty nine. Negative twenty nine degrees. Hey, let's get the bathing suits at this though. So there goes your theory that the North Pole is like fifty degrees in it's pushing the warming is pushing all that that band of cold air down here. Now, it is negative wealth tonight negative thirty. Temperature for. For tomorrow, a high of negative thirty and then it'll be negative thirty two for a low. It's pretty much going to stay the same thing. Yeah. It just keeps going on and on. So we got for you. The foreseeable future negative thirty one negative thirty to the North Pole. So this nonsense about warm air is pushing the polar vortex down here is because of global warming bull. Will it should be negative thirty three. It's only negative thirty two. It's just seeing. But he what sleighs me about this. Is there a lot of folks who still by this bovines scatology of we're destroying the planet with global warming and the rest of it. And it's.
