"I have a temper. I know. I think i want to say that. Most people think cool. I let me describe myself. I don't. I don't really know from this way but i think people were most mostly seem as chill relax not really to shirts about anything. Just more chill but in reality. I'm kind of at. I'm very short temper. Both my mom and dad both have certain temper. So i was not a large temper so things do get me mad and sent me off but jujitsu actually calms it releases all that to once. I'm done training. I've gotten ask kicks so much that deflates my eagles i have no And that's what i love about. The i don't. It makes me more carefree in care. Lesson not gay match. Where like all my way to login. Cutting off are more likely. Throw seniors up out on him. Giving the california. I lo- elegant ads on your real wave Money yeah exactly. Yeah so weird. Like i just i feel like need. Let me just need that call. Yeah i kinda just like in perspective yet with greg is really that big a deal. No it's not and also just the checks megan mccain i'm not the baddest man on the planet like you're my head. I think i'm right. But i mean that kind of goes back to like what you said earlier when you said you know you have all these jobs you start the day off and you have twenty jobs in by the middle of the day you got sixty jobs and by the end of the day. You're hundred injured. Jitsu you could be on your ass or on your feet and then within the next two three seconds you're on your back or you're getting tossed in the air or someone's on your back you know kind of puts things into perspective you wear right now. Yeah he's on my back or this person's on my back but right now they're not choking me so i got a little bit of time in a little bit of space where i can still breed and work my way out of this right. Yeah all right so that that's awesome a you see it like that. Now that's cool. what about your coworkers. Your co workers know that you train other than groupie. And if they do know what do they think about it. yeah most the majority of my workers do do know that i train in a running joke is not funny joke. Knock ninety a bad way but then we we get the same like a no when the the boxes off or whatever talking to like what's going to happen while you know working out like that doesn't so we're all talking shit time. "The county had descended a huge machine to recreate the dirt. Road comps still weren't letting cars through but for day to people didn't put up a physical resistance to the sheriff's driveway blockade. There were other things to figure out and strategize. It is early afternoon on june twenty ninth. I'm still at the stop line. Three camp in minnesota the all the protesters and water defenders. Who got arrested yesterday. Just back to the camp so they were released after one night in jail and they were they there was. There was a pretty a pretty cheery greeting for them here. At the heritage line three camp a few of the people were a little little more somber because of course their friends were jailed but everyone most people were pretty. Excited does each other again And most seems pretty optimistic So that's kind of thing that's kind of the state of things right now. to to sheriff's Trucks are still Preventing cars from going onto the driveway at the stop. Line three camp but so far. There's been no passive or active resistance to that today unlike yesterday. So we'll see if that changes in the next few hours i'm probably gonna head back to the first camp to pick up some supplies and i'll decide what i do from there but i mean the the the atmosphere stop playing three camp is super unique is a few hundred price people here now. Pretty massive space They actually own this property where they're basing the campout the move onto the like for actions that can move onto the line three site just like just across the way but the fact that it's their property does give them some distinct advantages in terms of how the law in crackdown on them without you know having horrible objects on the state's part They have a really really good set up farms. Growing food really nice like kitchen. You know like buildings and stuff Decent matter tense waters a little bit low but people are trying to figure that out so we're trying to try to on the water at least at the moment. It took longer than i thought. But eventually i made my way back to the earth. First camp just got b-actor first camp. It is a little bit past midnight. So technically it's now june thirtieth but still not slept since the night of the twenty eighth. So i'm excited to finally be back in my tent. People ride people were having to smoke fire and singing songs. That was nice. How fox spider tent. I'll have to deal with that later. But anyway there's still decent amount of Refers people staying at the At the line. Three camp Assume some more will head over tomorrow not fully made up my mind what i'm going to do yet but now lean towards probably staying at this camp trying to talk to more people and then in the last day i'll join wherever other people are doing if they're doing action i will be there in whatever reporting capacity makes the most sense So yeah i mean there's there's more and more people are coming back to earth. I camp right now Tomorrow might actually have some. You know i. It may be more more of a full day. I'll try to swim in the lake Because abuse shame. If i did not do that for this trip but yeah i mean it's it's been an interesting almost forty hours without sleep and dealing with all of these issues surrounding how the sheriffs are trying to crack down on the On the line. Three protesters I guess the one thing is like the sheriff so she left and like the late afternoon On the on the twenty ninth so we don't really know what their plan is I heard some people from like the line. Three side like i have initiated some like Legal proceedings to help get Like like more clearly to the driveway to their own property so that could be the reason why we left. But we don't totally know why the left sorely like they did not didn't stay super late to Blocking access to the driveway. So that part's still up in the air. I'm sure i'm sure. I'll find out more tomorrow and find out. We did the night of june thirtieth wednesday. Have to get like five thirty tomorrow. there is a p people are planning action tomorrow I don't have any details for what's going on nor to. My understanding does many other people because just today we found out that like the reason why the cops were blocking the driveway to the line. Three protest camp is because during that time n. bridge the The company with pipeline completed drilling on one of the two spots planned under the mississippi river and they wanted to make sure there wasn't any people to prevent that so that's why they are blocking access to the road from the protest camp so because now that drillings part is complete. I think that kind of through renton people's Protests plans for for tomorrow so things are kind of up in the air. All i know is that i have to be up early and we will be driving somewhere. I think people are probably gonna be locking down like with lock boxes and price off blockades so am expecting you know arrests to happen but the mood pretty tense right now. Everyone's pretty anxious. We're just kind of doing doing doing doing waiting game at the moment. The tribe my from best to to not get. But that's not really up to me. Because i mean i just don't know what the locations going to be like i don't know i there's just so little information and i have no idea what the cops reaction's going to be to any any of this The sheer number of people committed to doing the land defense water defense and committed to like showing up in person to advocate for the treaties to be actually followed. I mean of course. There's this is most of them were. There's there's there's reasons to talk about how how People were coerced into signing certain treaties. But fact is the ones that we have right. The ones that people have right now aren't even being followed in terms of you know stuff for this line. Three pipeline crossing over indigenous land and sacred areas. So there's just so many people that equated to doing this. I'm not sure if the cops will be prepared for how many people it looks like are going to be caravanning down depending what their plans are causing a scene But i'm to go to bed. I have to i have to sleep. Have a A long day ahead of me Long day of trying to not get arrested and then missing my ride back to my home on the other side of the country before a recap of what happened on the july first. Stop line three direct action. I wanna give some background for the whole line. Three thing now. You've probably heard of the stop line. Three movement this year a few public actions have grabbed national attention like the protests outside chase bank and perhaps a few actions near the pipeline. But you might be surprised to hear that the fight has been going on for over seven years back in two thousand fourteen and bridge. A canadian oil giant started the process of applying to replace their existing line three pipeline with a new bigger pipeline large portions of which are along completely new route including areas. That would violate the tree. Rights of the indigenous ashwin ave by passing through tribal territory freshwater sources ecosystems public lands well endangering primary areas of hunting fishing while rice and cultural resources in the eighteen. Fifty five treaty territory. For most of the past seven years the plans for the pipeline going through minnesota have been caught up in litigation and regulatory hearings. There have been on the ground direct actions and protests but all in hopes of preventing the construction from starting that changed november of twenty twenty when the minnesota pollution control agency issued water crossing permits in mid november. And then the army corps of engineers issued the other necessary permits mere days later embers had been positioning pipes and equipment for years doing so called preconstruction so soon as they got the go-ahead they could rush to dig drill and start placing pipes in the ground. The first pipe was laid out to wait all the way back. In november twenty seventeen three years before umbrage permission to actually begin construction the current line three which carries crude oil from edmonton alberta to superior. Wisconsin was originally built in the sixties pipe. Corrosion caused numerous spills from the seventies to the early two thousands to circumvent this bridge reduced the operating pressure at instituted yearly high-resolution inspections using modern technology to track ongoing corrosion as a result of the existing line three pipe ships four hundred and thirty thousand barrels per day. When finished the new line three would ship nine hundred fifteen thousand barrels of tar sands crude oil a day one of the dirty fuels on earth. That's more than double the current line three pipeline. The new line three will carry enough oil to produce about one hundred and seventy billion kilograms of carbon dioxide per year. that's equivalent to about fifty coal power plants or thirty eight million vehicles on our roads. Total project costs have risen to nine point three billion with the minnesota segment of the pipeline costing four billion a big part of the argument four line. Three minnesota is supposed job-creation. The problem is that the majority of these jobs are short term part time hire workers from out of state ember ges fourth quarter twenty twenty jobs reports that only thirty three percent. The almost five thousand workers in the project were from minnesota and they worked only twenty eight percent of the total hours. Bridge has a job. Promise that the line three replacement project would create about eight thousand and six hundred jobs the majority of which are local in minnesota over a two year period including eight hundred union construction jobs hatha which are expected to be filled locally however instead of seventy five percent of jobs being local the opposite is true with nearly seventy five percent of ours being worked by out of state workers in minnesota alone. The new line three pipe would cross more than two hundred water. Ecosystems tunnel under twenty rivers including the mississippi river twice the source of drinking water for millions of people the new line three would threaten many pristine lakes rivers and streams including where wild rice grows a foundation of the national people's traditional way of life and spiritual practices since the announcement that construction could begin last. November enbridge has been literally working nonstop to finish this pipeline as possible resistance against line. Three has also been rapidly increasing the past year all leading up to this past summer with many calls going out for national support. People are continuing to try to stop construction through litigation or pressuring public officials while others are taking direct action in hopes of slowing down the construction itself. As protests have continued the state response has grown more harsh. The most recent line three protesters who've gotten arrested for locking down queant are being charged with felony theft for quote temporarily taking control of construction equipment unquote by locking themselves to it. These new harsh protest related charges like felony resisting and obstructing are usually i tested on bypass folks and then anarchists and then eventually everyone if you thought sheriff's shutting down vehicle access to the main stop line three camp right as embryos was completing drilling under the mississippi river a little suss. Well wait until you hear that ember is also directly giving cops millions of dollars. This is from vice news quote. A canadian oil company has given minnesota law enforcement two million dollars to fund the policing of protests against the construction of its new pipeline encourage that fund called the public safety escrow trust in maeve twenty twenty as part of its permitting process of the line. Three pipeline route the funds in the account of and used to reimburse costs associated with maintaining the peace around the pipeline including officer wages lodging and boom trucks according to the minnesota public utilities commission and line three permits since its creation. Twenty twenty three hundred twenty seven thousand dollars of the fund has gone to the cass county. Sheriff's office located one hundred eighty miles north of minneapolis for security patrols of their private property. This amounted to around seven percent of the departments of salary and overtime budget for the year between november twenty eighth twenty twenty and february nineteen twenty twenty one over forty employees dedicated more than seven thousand hours to safety patrols. Another one hundred seventy one thousand dollars to the trimmer county sheriff's department for officer training going back as early as twenty seventeen in preparation for the responses to the line three protests. All of this was paid for by end bridge in its permitting documentation. The public. Utilities commission cited increased law enforcement expenses around pipelines and other parts of the country as reasoning for establishing the fund. The funds live in an astro count managed by state appointed officials to whom agencies send requests for reimbursement from bridge of costs related to quote coordination of public safety emergency responders public safety related costs for maintaining the peace in and around the construction site review and oversight of any private security services and other similar costs unquote. The account is technically not meant to be used for equipment unless it's quote personal protective equipment in extremely broad term. That is defined nowhere new ryan gear. For instance has been paid for by. The escrow account state appointed account manager has rejected law enforcement requests for reimbursement for cutting tools for lock boxes. And such. But there are ways around that in.

So native. american employment has typically been below General employment within the united states. So for white americans. Employment levels hovered around eighty one percent or so but for native americans on aggregate. It was vote eighty six percent. Just that's for the people who are working age generally But the academic the economic followed from the pandemic really exacerbated that inequality. Well the april employment to population ratios. Where the lowest for all races had been that you said since the nineteen forties the native american employment ratio showed the biggest overall drop falling from seventy percent in january two low fifty five percent in april and a non metro areas actually following his lows forty percent and is that compared what some of the employment looks like for indian country as well i see exactly so we don't have unfortunately a reservation specific numbers however been on metro areas are proxy for that. So we're thinking about employment. Employment levels will forty percent and unemployment rates about twenty percent which is very dramatic. And a sean. Is this marrying wiz. Some of the things. You're hearing from your clients as tribes across the country Have historically faced during economic hardships and then with cova nineteen pandemic a lot of reservations closed and a lot of reservations rely on tourism and businesses and it even goes down to individuals who are maybe artists are have food trucks or something like that Go ahead sean. Yeah no thank you. I think certainly We can all agree that a couple of nineteen pandemic has been One of the great disruptors of Of american indian operations both economically and from a health perspective Certainly Our clients that we're working with Either through audit or accounting We're seeing Some unprecedented interruptions and business. Which is caused the unemployment rates For native people in particular As a lot of enterprises have closed due the pandemic restrictions And one of the challenges. Right now that we're seeing is getting those people to come back to work. certainly There's a lot of incentives to get back to work and i think some communities are thriving To get people back to work with their also those that are struggling somewhat to try and get people back to the enterprises that are starting to open up and of course we all have a priority to hire our own people And what we're seeing And really kind of advising our clients is you know. Make it a priority to get Our people back to work with the incentives that we can afford through various means to get enterprises back to operating levels pre pandemic and also pointed pre penned up but certainly there's been a great disruption and a lot of Like in the industry that you've mentioned tourism gaming and even You know normal operation. government operations etc and. Less you focus on the tourism industry. How has that been hit. economically for indian country. Especially when we're looking and talking about the job market. Is well well here. In the state of north dakota the unregulated e tab machines and gaming in north dakota Tribal gaming really taken a hit and losing revenue in jobs at all five nations in north dakota and so a few years back We organized all the tribes here in north dakota under the north dakota native tourism alliance and the mta dot com and the alliance was formed to preserve promote and protect all of our native cultures here in five nations of north dakota and we partnered up with george washington university to help us develop tourism packages for each nation and to market to our end deters dot com to market to the world so We want to tell our stories from our perspective. Our is all the true stories Tribe has its own unique Story to tell so to create jobs in the tourism industry here in the state of north dakota. it's a three billion dollar yearly industry. It's the third largest north dakota behind agriculture and oil. Bend nine out of twenty jobs have to tourism industry so to diversify and become more family friendly and points of destination. Our tribal chairman. Mr jamie asher started advocating for terrorism diversification avatar goals so by developing this north dakota tourism alliance and developing tourism packages. We work together with all of our partners. to market to the world North dakota markets. Australia new zealand italy france. Germany england the scandinavian country. "At this four. Hey i made a reservation at this four nude spot i cannot believe what did you go to resume did you. Did you open tables. It's a different apricot open asshole and you can't believe you get apps with that. Okay okay you know. It's hilarious on the of asian. And they give you. It's like you pay for like a table in the twenty years. And i sent a separate email saying hi. Could we get twenty white clauses. Twenty jobs the the strip club was like we're gonna make so much money off of these new. I cannot believe it yes continued so but just for some context. You're supposed to make a reservation because they pick you up and stuff and also there's a lot of shady places in vegas right anytime you're trying to tap into the vice industry. I think you need to be careful no matter where you are right so i did my research. I made a reservation. I said hold on boys when we go tomorrow. I have this whole thing planned out. We got a limo. It's going to be amazing. And they were like no. We're hoarding now. We have to go. And so i was going to go with them but again comedy saved me mike. You and i had a podcast recording very early the next morning after go home and read some of these articles about asian-americans because listen listen. I've got to go home. I've got break into someone's apartment. So i can record this podcast so i didn't go with them because i was like i have to wake up and like do the podcast right so i go to bed and then they come home like six. Am and shit. I'm like what's happening. Like my first thought was i was like. Oh no. did they do something bad that they're like because they're home at six. Am but what i found out is that they got there and they were scammed dude. They got there. They were forced into a vip room. They were separated immediately for studio up and then they had them. I guess they were like it didn't help that. They were drunk. I guess they took their phones on their wallets. And sure look if you get into. A vip room forced five hundred dollars. We're like hey come on. In or whatever right i understand it right. Is it a scam. I don't know it's a gray line. But like what what was really fucked up as they took their wallets and they just started charging amounts on their wiping their cards so they will cup with like a three. I i should say this. I'm gonna say this three thousand dollars. Yeah on their credit. It's insane right so like they were again. These are nice boys from ohio. Okay they don't know is going on. Okay they're thinking about tractors and shit. They're like they don't know what the first thing about trackers ordering white clause yup yup so they're freaking out there like. Oh my god. This is the big city. We're being scammed in the vegas city by the way but it's not they're freaking out and it really put a damper. This is day two out of three. Or maybe four. And this is a really put a damper on the trip. And i was telling you this one of the guys. He was so scared and shook. He flew home early. He was like he was like i. Just i just got to get a hold of my wife man. I gotta get hold of my wife. He's just outside baby. Take me back. Okay yeah sorry about that. Listen think about it. We got to travel points from. Yeah yeah oh. I think maybe because they share a credit card. Maybe he knew that she would something. So yes that's how this happened but yeah dude. I don't know. Have you had anything like that happened to you. I have not. I mean. I have had have been kicked out of a strip club which which was completely completely justified and we were doing anything bad. We were just like being just three assholes in the we were just like hanging out in the bathroom just like giggling like the bouncer burst in was like you guys get out of here and i was like you're right. We're totally you're right. You're absolutely right. I feel like i almost like you know what. What point is someone gonna kick us out. Because i feel we're getting we're disrespectful in here. We like we spent like no money at all. My gosh. just we're like the opposite. We're completely just draining them. you know. they're just like ruining the vibe so that's probably the most of it. It's interesting to me because you were telling the story before we start recording and you're saying you know hey new york of teaches you a little bit about what's a scam. What's not a scam. And i don't know if. I don't know how we handle it. I don't really think that being in new york for this long. I'm not like super street smart. You know when when when you when you're growing up as a kid and you feel like a street smart guy is like a guy with a fedora. And he's got a chain like watch and he's like pointing me like hey kid comey left here for eleven years and i have a fedora. But that's the extent of my of my street. Smarts really feel like. I kind of know when someone's gaming me and mainly it's just like leave me alone. I don't want any of this shit. Yeah but i feel like if i was in vegas. Hey if i was getting drunk and we're stuff was happening. Who knows what would happen to me. What about you do you feel like i remember. You said you've been you kind of gone through this before. Yeah younger dude. Actually and what's happening exactly exact same. Nineteen or twenty in japan when it was like try to like a hostess club and i was like trying to like trying to tap into japanese culture. Because i didn't feel very japanese like i'm going to go do this. Like all these old salarymen who hate their wives go do go and i got scammed like eight hundred bucks but the same thing happened to me so i think i would have been a little better at it but again they were drunk. And you know. I i wanna actually talk to our guest about this because hey you know. He's from la. That's real. close to vegas. i he. He's a little older than me but he's looking good all right which means if he goes to vegas. Hey he's having a good time all right and so having a good time like a time. So i feel that this guy. He he's also had such a long career he may have been a strip club. Dj point actually. I wouldn't be surprised when be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised because this guy has done everything. He's he's literally gone from starbucks to movies i. I wouldn't be surprised at that night. You've got in trouble in vegas mike. He was the bathroom. Han washy guy. He's he's like. He's like aqua zhou. You the towel like exactly and so our theme this week is is getting scammed vegas asian or not asian and our guest today. Oh my god. Mike i cannot believe he is here. I can't believe it he was he. He didn't sign until two minutes later after promise time and i thought he wasn't coming and makes it makes sense. Why would he come. Why why would you come. Why would i come. I'm no this guy is an amazing comedian actor writer producer. He was asian jim from the office. That's his primary credit. That's our primary grades agent. Jimmy woo marbles wanda vision. He's he's written and directed and always you maybe guys give it up for the hilarious randall. Pau oh my god is what's going on. I can't believe you're here. This is crazy. I can't believe i'm here either. I mean i mean in that..

"Potential, they would move to do. They have any special needs with children or spouses with jobs or health care? Like, I want to get to know you and, you know, three months later, the job that I'm lying with might come up, that's great, but usually, it's a year or two down the road where I'm like, you know what, this fits DK. This fits see why this fits DJ. Like, I know this person inside and out, we spend time together dead. Mean DJ, he had me up to the coaches. Had me up to practice for two days. I sat and film room at those guys. I watched him break down film. I watched them game prep for it was Nebraska, maybe and I went down and watched them. Like that's the stuff like get me involved in that get Kaylee involved, and that's so that we're watching your work or watching it interact with student-athletes. When there's not a job on the line, right? Everybody wants to be the best version of yourself enough. Let me tell you why I'm the perfect fit for the Paul or, you know, Oklahoma when that but who are you, when there isn't a job online, right? So I would encourage you authenticate, build relationships while this work. We're at the final four. We're doing proof of Consortium. Usually free covid-19. Some coaches competing for tens of jobs. The odds aren't in your favor. Thousands competing for tens. All right, so what are you doing to differentiate? Differentiate yourself? Took your favorite. We know? Right now we're known as it gets closely of the Season, which jobs are going to open. There's Hot Seat alerts, everyone's talking about everything about that might be twenty jobs, you guess what? You're not fit for all 23. Perfect. There might be three of the twenty that you're a fit for and that you you not interested. Go to work on those, right? Figure out who's Jeff can tell you. We consider, we can probably figure out who the 80s going to use to confirm cuz they use a lot of the same time. You'll know they do the research has that AV ever hired a first-time coach from an assistant before they're going to just recycle head coaches or or promote head coaches from smaller schools. You'll start doing now your agent like to do work. So that months before, the job opens you're already prepping. You're you're figuring out who the influencers are going to be. You're putting Advocates together for yourself off. Standing with the opportunity is going to be you know the firm that could be involved and then when it comes open bam you're ready you kind of checks and boxes and you can go from there. My dear jab for a for younger kids. You guys I know you say you want us to stop by you want guys to get to know you and then that type of thing you all prefer to deal with an agent or with the the coach himself. Yeah, when it comes to, you know, doing the deals or when the search is ongoing, we're primary with the agent, you know? If we have if we have a relationship with the coach will be talking to you too, but we want to, we want to do things the right way. Want to protect you, especially if you're black head, coaches and maybe all in on Hue, going after a job which you will have to deal with right. But know in the in the when there's not a search. Yeah. Like you know, a lot of times if you don't we don't know each other Jordan or Iraq or tourney will call us to say, a my guys coming through Atlanta, he wants to spend time. Yeah, the agent can set that up. If we know each other, call us anytime you want your agent to do. It should work every day with those guys. I have a question for you guys have a couple. But, you know, how how we evaluate as assistant coaches, like, what's important? You know, you look at a choice, some of the guys on this call that a very accomplished, they wanted a super high level, you know, great reputations in a business like, what what's important to you as a search firm when you put The pool of candidates together. Yep, I can answer that by Katy. Let you go first. Yeah, I think, I mean, just just alignment with why, why do you want? What job, whatever job you're looking for. Why? That job not just happen to be head coach? But kind of like I mentioned before, why specifically that job? Do you have a title that area? Is it a lot of like-minded institution you work before, you know, if you're worked at Yale, if you're Adam over here and you know you're going for a job like probably not going to go for a job. That's not high academic, right? Maybe you will. But what's your why I think they don't like your why I don't differentiate between other assistant coaches and once you get this interview with an in-person interview or whatever the phone interview, you know, the preparation separates people, I think confidence, preparation presence, just knowing what the job is going into and what your plan and being able to obviously some of you guys have been head coaches before different levels, but like when you're looking for that first division, one job, or whatever it is, you know, you know, Hood to sell that a d a little bit on that, you're ready, you know. And, and how are you doing that? Well, it's the job that you're doing now. What's your name? Or people other people saying, you're ready, just cuz you call and say you're ready, doesn't mean you're ready. But if your head coach is calling to say, hey man, come on, he's so ready for this job. This is perfect for him. This is why this is what I've let him do as an assistant coach example, I keep bringing up my company was so darn impressive in this interview. He was, you know, defensive coordinator, Steve Lutz was the offensive coordinator. I slept around but they had a specific role on their staff where their head coach. Matt Painter was letting them run something and so being able to see them on the sidelines, being able to not, everyone's get that opportunity to do something like that to know, you know, not all stands for the same but those two guys got jobs year and they were prepared, they had the right fit. They were both, you know, impressive in their interview relaxed, you know, didn't try too hard connected with the athletic director. How much is really hard to do? But they also had that I'm ready. Toolbox from their head coach. If your head coach isn't putting you in a position to be a head coach, then you probably what the wrong head coach probably need to go change the song. To someone who lets you do your job and pushes you to be a head coach. So if you're putting it being put in this box over here is just the guy who runs practice or just a recruiter or just the excess notes person, you need a well-rounded sixty you know, holistic approach to being a head coach so you can sell that an interview. Yeah, I'll just great points. Katie, it's still different football. So much easier with the coordinators, right? Offensive defense, they own it. And I know we have that in basketball, but you know, what's really important in life is what people are saying about you. Right? Like, so, you know, although like listen, if you're BJ, Thomas is going to be your biggest fan, right? He's going to be pushing. He's going to tell you the why? But, you know, what does, what does your mom would say about you, right? What did, what did your other coaches in the conference say about you? You know, when we call them, I mean, this guy was a beast to recruit against, right? He got two guys, we thought we had or, you know, DJ in defense and, you know, we just couldn't figure out what they did. And like, we call those people like one of these guys against the recruit against, what are these guys like in game management, right? How, how do they handle some you add them how they come out of it. So evaluation is, you know, a little bit harder because for US unless we have access, you know, Who's doing it? The head coach assistant coach. The other assistant coach is a little bit harder than football, but that's why that's again, there's no secret sauce cuz we have to make the calls. We have to be at practice. We have to go to games. We have to rely on people like Jeff who are on the road, right? Who, who, who are on the inside. We can't. Okay? And I are famous for saying we, we do searches, we don't make telephone calls, we make 1000 calls, right? Because if we call the wrong 10 people about you, you're screwed right? If we call it, if we call the right 10 people value, then maybe they're low your profiles, a little more elevated than should be going to call and do the work. And again that's not during the search that's 365 even.

"The country. They wouldn't move to have special needs with children or spouses with jobs or health. Care like i want to get to know you and you know three months later. The job that you line with my come up. That's great but usually you're too down the road where mike what this fence decay fitzy. Why it's dj. Like i. i know this person inside out. We spend time together. I mean he had me up to coaches the practice for two days. I sat and fill those guys in washington breakdown film. I watched them game. Prep for Was nebraska maybe now down. Watch the like. That's the staff like get involved in that gig kalian all of that. So that we're watching your work or joaquin you interact with student athletes. When there's not a job on the line right. Everybody wants to be the best version of. Let me tell you why. I'm the perfect fit for the paul. Or you know oklahoma when that but who are you. There isn't a job on wariso. I would encourage you authentically build relationships while this. We're at the final four. We're doing them usually break open. You know weren't atlanta and phoenix. You guys recruiting. There's tournaments clinics house. She has made it can effort Kind of pre-start. Just i don. What katie said on during the surge airborne way up when the calls isn't smart but you need to have. Here's my total time. There's thousands of coaches competing for tens of jobs yards. Aren't in your favor. Thousands competing for tens all right. So what are you doing to differentiate differentiate yourself to put the odds near favor. We know right now on known as it gets close to the end the season which jobs are and there's hotseat alert everyone's talking about during. That might be twenty jobs. You guess what you're not fit for all twenty. There might be three of the twenty that you're fit for you interested. Call us anytime you want your agent to do it work every day with those guys got for you guys Couple but you know how we evaluate as assistant coaches. What's important you know. You look at somebody guys on this call. It a very accomplished run at a super high level. Great reputations in a business like what's important to you as a search firm when you put in a pool of candidates together. I can answer up a k. launch ago. I think i mean. Just just alignment with why. Why do you want what whatever job you're looking for that job. Not just here. When be coached but kind of like i mentioned before why specifically that job you have a tighter. That area is that a like minded institution. You work before you know. Worked at yale. If your animal over here you know you're going for a job like probably not gonna go for a job. That's not right. maybe it will. But what's your why not let your. Why don't differentiate between other assistant coaches and once you get this new movie. Were them personnel bureau. Whatever the phone interview you know. The preparation separates people. I think confidence Preparation presence Just knowing what the job is going into what your plan and being able to some of you guys have been head coach before different levels but when you're looking for that first division one job or whatever it is you know to sell eighty a little bit on that you're ready you know. And and how were you doing that well. It's the job that you're doing now. What's your reputation or people are saying. You're ready Just as you call and say you're ready doesn't mean you're ready if your head coach is calling and say hey man so ready for this job. This is perfect for him. This is why this is what is let him do. As an assistant coach for example. I bringing up mike but he was so darn impressive in his interview. He was the defensive coordinator.
