"Joe thighs been former NFL quarterback simple champion joins us now Hey Joe Tasso the moves with you thanks for giving us a couple minutes this morning what's up you're welcome morning guys no I will you know we start out Indianapolis you know run around the National Football League here you know and and your reaction you know to the news we notice how physical game is Andrew luck's been through a lot of injuries over his brief seven year career your are your are your reaction to Andrew luck call it a career I was surprised you know it's obviously the timing was such that it was unusual but you know you never know when the mine's going to finally say I'm done I mean he's been through a lot don't have I think an idea or a concept of how cooling rehabilitation is you just don't feel like you're part of anything although everybody wants to make you feel that way you get up in the morning you hurt you go to bed at night you hurt and for Andrew it's been as you mentioned four solid years in this entire year last year I wonder how much or he's mine is body could take and you know I admire the fact that he made a decision of its own accord I never had a chance to make a choice you know I was gone for the game but I didn't get a chance to say I want to I want to finish this so I don't want to finish it but in his case I I respect and admire his decision and I wish you all luck going forward yeah Joe so that's funny keep mentioned about his mind and that's something that moves not been talk about yes they like you don't and and now these injuries and he's talked about Angela how it's kind of pulled the passion out of it for for him you know to keep gruel and grinding out as an official player as a quarterback in an old demands on that and just the rehab going to treatment all the time and and this whole then how distressed that's on his family so you know and there's been a lot of people as you know Joan I've had these hot takes him out of ripped and and you know obviously people media have done that because it just trying to get some attention only just never lived in never never maybe you don't got out there and sweat you never get a chance to enjoy the fruits of your life right right Ross Perot's Sunday is what it's all about I used to love practice too but for for a lot of guys make getting dressed on Sunday walking out into that stating your gladiator there's pageantry to it there's the anticipation there's the excitement is exhilaration it's not there right yeah we're we're we're is again game it's just you save yourself where where's the fun man I did this when I was a kid I did it because I loved it right we don't take the money out of it I still believe a lot of guys with like me I go back to when I played we have this kind of money laying around show they were given us this kind of money and and these these kids love the game as well I dancers one of those indications of like Kate it's more than about money no he was going to get the balance what twenty four million dollars right now Mr Arce did that for him the writing or acting to know that right but so he sold you know he was willing to walk away from it all the frustration is is unbelievable that's why I got a little side was when I they booed him the other night come on yeah yeah we for seven years the guys giving you everything he's got and now all of a sudden some of the fans are gonna boom because he's making a decision that's right for him and not right for quote on quote them so little absurd license you know that I thought the cubs entitlement was they had a discussion about the show there because I I thought the fans a little too entitled to and I agree with you Joe so I mean you know that and it was they have every right to want it I mean they don't they they vent their frustration but when when somebody makes a decision based upon their mental and or physical health I think you have to be more understanding of that you know Joe I you we we pass I talked about last hour a little surprised by the criticism of the former NFL quarterback Steve per line went on you know social media is been interviewed a number of different places including here CBS sports radio as well critical of the lock decision does that surprise you yeah it does you know he's a guy who who who was beat up everybody has different fashion what right do we have as an individual to judge someone else about anything they decide they want to do you don't know what's going on in their head you don't know what's going on going on in their life and you can never put yourself in their situation yeah even though even though I've seen people with Alex Smith had a similar injury tomorrow but I can't put myself in Alex's head right and I think I think it's wrong for any player to come out and judge another player because they made a decision regarding their decision to either stay or leave the game I think it is wrong yeah I I and I agree you don't we talked to abuse I was talking earlier about like I brought up the fact of the gift I only can imagine never done it you're going to feel quarterback special starting quarterback you know it's a lifestyle does not just at the facility it's not just practice right when you go on home I mean it's it's I'm assuming it's very tough on the family on your wife because **** you know all of you you're you're locked into you you work in a pleasure in front of a laptop or computer you're going over stuff yet correct me if I'm wrong Joe you live this I mean it's a livestock Chris I'll just how happy how happy can you be at home a ways away from the facility away from the game how happy can you be heard every day of your life it this this goes this goes beyond football if you talk to anybody that wakes up with paint it wears on you it wears on you more mentally than it does physically but then all those people around you that circles in your life the people around you it's it's hard to beat up and it's hard to play with the kids it's hard to go do things it's hard to go to go to a movie decide you have your work to cram everything in but then it's yeah it just becomes like I say where's the endgame forty with the rehabilitation yeah and and when I started here in the different injuries somebody asked about a week or so ago about into and in the injuries I said if if anything he should play for a long time yeah first thing I thought of calf injury I'm thinking Kevin Durant Achilles's yeah yep that's the first thing that it becomes a high ankle sprain minutes it's a type of bone chip or something and it's like nobody ever really figured out or the reports never really honed in on one particular thing that he had that he could work on in order to high ankle sprains they're at least that that's that's six eight weeks before you get really feeling good and with the quarterback people tend to look at the arm and spins the.

Is Zion Williamson enough to completely change the Anthony Davis trade?

"To the draft lottery. Now New Orleans which six percent shot to get the number one pick got it almost certainly drafts. I n Williamson. The pelicans would love a line of which includes both on an AD. Anthony Davis put according to reports drafting Zion will not change Davis's trade demands. He still wants out Persad with eighty making a steak force in a trade with a chance to play alongside Zairean hasn't changed as as look when you're a superstar AD stature, you don't change based on a rookie draft pick that we don't know what he's going to be as much as we like him. This is about a big market. Let's face like, okay. What this is about. This is the team they lost regime Rondo outside of that day. Essentially had the same theme that swept the current Western Conference finals, Portland. Trailblazers bogey was on the was out though, it he was that was golfer to play. Off. So they swept them so and the organization wasn't that will run before. Now, you gotta solid GM and David Griffin. Okay. This is about a big market. So if AD can get to the Lakers with LeBron or still the Knicks to play with Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving, that's a good look fine. That wouldn't be a mistake outside of those two though, I do think a decent reconsider. This isn't a bad situation. You guys Zion. You got drew holiday. You got some other piece around him, and if Julius Randle ops out, which he probably will only go make my million had a very good year, and you wave and stretch Solomon hill, you could have twenty four million dollars to play with that helps you do a trait or get another player. Mike Conley is going to be on the market yet. Because John, right. So if you can get a Mike Conley to play withdrew holiday AD and

Braves, Atlanta And Kuna discussed on The MLB Show

"The kunia, obviously, wonderful young Braves player. He's just won the rookie of the year award. He's going to be a cornerstone of the Braves franchise for years to come in today. It came out that he's going to be a cornerstone for even longer than that because he signed well, I guess a seven year extension. It's being reported as eight years, even though the first is the twenty nine thousand nine season with two club options on the end. And even if both of those club options are exercised this will amount to just one hundred twenty. Four million dollars for almost the next decade of a kunia, which seems like the biggest swindle steal, whatever. Synonym? You wanna use to show that basically kunia is going to be incredibly underpaid for the next decade Ivan seat like you, usually don't see people get absolutely destroyed in Atlanta like this and less the federal grand armies involved. I was I went into this with an open mind because so far from free agencies. I mean, he's frankly, so far from arbitration that you wouldn't you can't like look at the I mean, it's essentially seven year one hundred million dollar deal. You can't look at that. And think, wow, you know, he's only making what is at thirteen million dollars a year fourteen million. And and judge that against free agent salaries. But then you look at the like the two extension deal or to extension years or or seventeen million dollars each like what like if he's going to be worth going to be worth exercising? Those options. In his thirties. Like one old be the going rate for a superstar by that point. I can't I dunno. It's it just seems. I you call it a swindle. I think that's that's not a bad way to describe it. I mean, the Braves just completely put one over on him and Kuna, I think it's important to note is in this position because he was not a super highly touted prospect when he signed at Venezuela with Atlanta as a youngster he wasn't one of those guys who made, you know, five million dollars on the free agent market. I think it was watch us one hundred thousand hundred thousand he made and he was held down by Atlanta for the first month last year. So he's going to hit free agency a year later than he otherwise would have he's making the league minimum this year next year. So he's not really going to have the chance at getting paid for a few years anyway. So you can sort of understand why he would want to lock up the security because if he suffers a career threatening injury tomorrow, then he's. Not going to have the sort of financial security to fall back on that players who came from more means will have.

"News rewind. We're have a wall really sick ABC news crime and terrorism analyst and former FBI agent Brad Garret is with me right now Brian against the question is does a border wall automatically make us safer. Of course, not the idea of in probably any wall. It's not gonna make you safer because that isn't how quote unquote, bad people whether its terrorists criminals. People smuggling illegal immigrants into the country. They don't walk across the border. Anyway, they come in primarily through the border crossings, just because of sheer volume you can't check literally every person in every truck, etc. Among some other ways that they get drugs, etc. Into the country. But the point being is that the first of all that you could even physically build a two thousand mile wall is like beyond silly. From a cost standpoint. It's twenty four million dollars a mile think about that Greg or that math out. Versus maybe go onto some sort of virtual or smart wall. Were you use drones surveillance cameras sensors radar that you could monitor from a command coast you could then adjust the sixteen thousand or so border patrol agents along the southern border. You know, obviously, they'd have to respond to some of these sightings in and go that route. Just so many levels is much more realistic in and I think at the end of the day more effective are there areas of our southern border where there are gaps where people can simply walk across the US because there are areas that you can even put up a barrier because of rivers and other things so yes, there are places you could you could literally do that. And if you went to a smart or virtual wall, you also get that up and running quickly. I mean think about how long you take to even try to build a two thousand mile. Plus if you look at the land between El Paso and Brownsville Texas, a lot of that is is privately owned. So you either have to get permission. If you're the federal government, or you'd have to seize it through imminent domain. I mean, there's all sorts of difficulties I suppose. Of even attempting to build a physical wall does the border patrol agency have enough resources right now. Well, you know, they've gotten unbelievably bigger in the last several years. So do they want and need more manpower? Maybe. No, I think that's something you'd have to you'd have to look at. But you know, you got a first of all figure out how do we even physically cover two thousand miles? And yes, you do need physical people to do some of that. But a lot of it you can do through technology ABC news crime and terrorism analyst Brad Garret the KOMO morning news with MandA factor. And Gregg Hersholt on KOMO news. I'm bologna, oh with another. "Could not have timed his plow up any better. He did not walk batter in the playoffs. Great job by Joe Kelly. He was throwing a hundred miles per hour. The stuff is clearly there. Joe kelly. Not that much of a control pitcher. He is not that much of a ground ball pitcher. He's doesn't avoid home runs. I mean, people still take him d if you look at Joe Kelley, and if you completely ignore his stuff, which I know is it's part of it, of course. But you look at them. And you think this guy who's been like, I don't know average reliever for for awhile. He's tempting he when you see his stuff, you think this guy should be amazing. And sometimes you can look amazing. But fact of matters that if you if you go beyond how hearty throws he walks too many batters he doesn't get nearly as many strikeouts as you would expect him to now it's possible. Some other teams team like another divers could figure out some analytical trick to make him. Get more strikeouts. Throw more up in the zone, or whatever it is these days. But I think that his peripherals are not there. And this estimate is biased by the quantity of stuff. Okay. That's a reasonable one. All right. So this will be my fifth pick. I think I will take the over. Charlie Morton at two years, thirty two I think he is worth more than that. I know that he seemingly was considering retirement. And I don't know whether that means that now that he has decided not to retire. He won't want a long term deal in KC decides to retire again, but two and thirty two for a pitcher of Charlie Morton's talents. I mean, he basically had like corbin's strikeout rate this year and peeves throws really hard. And I know he had some durability concerns. I guess just down the stretch there. But he's just been so effective. And I know that part of that was the Astros helping him be a better version of himself. But I don't think there's any reason to think that he couldn't continue to pitch at this level for another team. If the answer is don't bring him back. So I just think he deserves more than that. He's he's been really excellent. The last couple of. Yeah. Bit of a wild card because of the fact that he's talked about retirement, we don't really know what Charlie Morton is looking for. But I agree with you just based on the quality of his pitching. He's really quite good. The stuff is a little bit behind him. So yeah, that's a good one. All right. I will move onto the under on. Why is GIO Gonzalez pegged for twenty four million dollars? I don't I I understand if this real like five years ago, it would make a certain medicines. But dougans Alice just twenty four million dollars for two years as the projected here, it's not that much. And you know, there are teams that could use a fourth or fifth starter. But you also is and will be thirty three years old. He's got a long track record, and he's been relatively healthy made thirty two starts this year. But also it was not a good year. According to thank graphs. He was an average pitcher his area. Minus was worse than averages. F- IP matters is worse than average is X P minus was worse than average walked too many guys you went to Milwaukee and didn't get better throws ninety miles per hour. Still has that curve ball and and all the trappings and whatnot. And he's still hard issue. Ish to hit at least running average contact rates. But no teams going to want. You also be pitching for them in the playoffs. And this feels like one of those Allston settle early. Then he'll sign if like a year and eight million at the end of spring. Yeah. All right. I'm going to take. I think I'm gonna take the over on adamant of you know, three and thirty. I don't know there's probably not a whole lot of upside with this pick. I don't know what relievers get stays. But really get paid actually even even less winter rate. When no one else was getting paid relievers were still getting paid because teams realized that they need all the relievers in the world when the postseason rolls around and at amount of, you know,.

"Tesla's CEO Elon Musk saying he is going to buy twenty million dollars worth of Tesla's stock, but even with eons, vote of confidence in the electric vehicle company that stocks traded down about two percent today or Filipo joins us. Now with all the details, Phil. Melissa, this announcement of Elon Musk, buying twenty million dollars worth of newly issued. Tesla's stock came out in an SEC filing this morning. That filing was all about the finalisation of the settlement between the SEC and tesla over the investigation into the go private tweet. This is the latest purchase of Tesla's shares by Elon Musk. In this case, these are going to be newly issued shares. The next time there is an open period for purchasing stock. That's when the purchase will take place that comes just a few months after Elon Musk said that he would be buying twenty four million dollars in stock that was in June in March. He committed to buying almost ten million dollars worth of tesla shares on the open market. And then in March of last year, he said that he would buy twenty five million dollars worth of tesla shares. Elon Musk has been a regular purchaser of Tesla's stock on the open market separate from when he's been awarded, stock options, anger and one of the complaints. From those who have shorted. The stock is that Elon Musk has borrowed against his holdings when he has been recommitting to the company and purchasing more stock unclear where this money is coming from in this case with the twenty million dollars. But if you take a look at shares of tesla, we should note out that we went and looked at periods where Elon Musk has said, I will be buying x. amount of shares. And there have been some moments where the stock is popped and moved a little bit higher that day and then settled down and other times when there's been no reaction. So it's hard to know whether or not people can look at this and say, this will be a trigger for people to say, we'll buy more shares of tesla, Melissa back to you. All right, Bill. Thanks Phil in Chicago. So what could this mean for Tesla's stock? Now, let's recall when some other CEOs bought stock. Remember when Jamie diamond bought five hundred thousand shares of Johnson, and we're on shares February twentieth sixteen that stock rally more than ninety five percents since family known as timid, mention the diamond bottom and don't forget about Wednesday, win that big on his casino stock in December. Two thousand fifteen. This is something that Pete likes referred to a lot then rallying more than fifty four percent six months later. So there'd be upside for tesla here does a signal anything? Are we reading into this this? I mean, I think the main point is that yes, he is bought on almost every equity offerings, even I think when they've done convert offerings, but think about it when the companies issuing new shares dilutive. So he's buying it. He just kind of trying to manage some of his dilution. But ultimately, I think the most important story that we keep hearing rumors about is that this company is going to need to raise capital soon, and that's really the issue how they do it in a what term. So to me, he can buy whatever he wants the stock's not going up until we have, you know, a fixed to two billion dollar capital whole well, they built a, they bought a plot of land and Shanghai to build a new factory there. They will have to raise money probably on Asian markets right for about probably a two billion dollar facility. They're right there only in Asia, not even thinking about the cash needs here in the United States. You can ask a question. What gives a muskrat as must be current courage, courage, and that's in my opinion what you need at this point to get long this. Why do anything head of burnings which is going to be in about a week and a half two weeks from now. I think it's got to recapture the two eighty level which it hasn't done. It didn't gave it right back. So I think you're playing stock market here. Pete, we'll tell you correctly. If you wanna

"So that's the thing that what you have to spend it. Yes. See, that's the thing. Do you have to? That's what I'm at the point. I think they're saying is d have to spend it. You have to buy your own jackets and intendo HS. Instead, you just go look, instead of getting that shit, we've got a tighter budget. We're gonna work a little harder. For shorter, but instead of that, we don't have as much pressure to make as much money. You know what I'm saying? The mall cops that that have that extra budget and even the budget. The first law yet first one in the budget wasn't even that it was a fucking home run. It was thirty million twenty four million dollars wary only Martin Luther King weekend, which is now turned into a greatly gray weekend. Yes, flopped it up. Put mall cop, huge. And it's funny because I still shootings by the man. And walking on Sony lot and walk into my room and my let's say the fucking like, let's say it was studio, six. My room was fucking a half mile walk. You know, I was nobody out there was a nice room. Yeah, I know. Forget walking and seen such. And go, what are you doing? Like shooting by Mantas and get the fuck out here? I what are you doing Hager's I'm trying to get Kevin James film career. Yeah, he was a TV and then he got hit you. Yup. Forget that I want to with Rogan him when Abram I get problem props to do what I bumped into spider man set. A we talked about it. He goes Kevin, James, getting the move anger. You got him in hedge. Yeah, you got him and Will Smith at that would launched him for fuck it and that he did mock and then he did mall cop is thing that was it. And yet I mean that just he's so likable in that movie just took off huge numbers. He, I mean, that was that made a lot of money, but then you add the other movie. I did Eddie Murphy movie called imagine that the MO, the shooting budget ninety two million dollars. It's made sixteen sixteen seventeen. You could look it up. I think it seventeen that. I mean, think about that l. for paramount. Think about that l. that's a big l. but is what people don't understand that you have all these shows. But all you need three home runs, well, seven hundred million dollars. Eddie Murphy. Well, yeah, I know. I mean, so he's got a track record of, you know, but you take an l. like that and a couple of those to the couple of or vacuum nor bit. He took a couple beaten staff for a while. Yeah, I was. We, I. There's a whole crew of I've ever all in those movies. We are all thrilled if work with any Murphy and he was never, you know, was never really. There wasn't even the movie. Imagine that. Think it made seventeen million dollars. Ninety million movie businesses fucking tight, was ten years ago. I mean, it's rough, Jack, if you're not at Murphy, like if you guys are acting in a movie, do you see more money if they still tickets? What do you mean? Say that again? I like, do you make more money if they sell a lot of. Or Joey? Yeah, like yes, for mall, cop, residual checks, movies that are successful is actually worldwide. Is that from TV or when they plan on TV in DVD sales, or is that tickets every d- sales every that's internet now that's when they played on HBO and shit. Mike, what I was thinking was like if they took away all those perks for you, you know the, you know the studios making millions and millions. Do you really care if you if like, like, would you really be like, okay, I'll give up all that food or I'll give the Nintendo because I wanna make you more bucks. Well, here's the deal. You will if you if you know you're making a good movie, but if you're a guy that's just gets twenty five million dollars check and it's just like, what's the next grip coming through and you do it like it's a crappy movie, like we did like Eddie Murphy. Well, how many times are they? You know, they're not gonna give you twenty five million dollars anymore to do those movies..
